Located on the pier, Apollo Bay Fishermen's Co-Op is renowned as the go-to spot for fish and chips in town. Offering a variety of freshly caught local fish, including species filleted on site, it provides an opportunity to witness Southern Rock lobsters being offloaded from the boats. The seafood is described as incredibly fresh and delicious, with a seafood platter offering a generous portion for two people at an affordable price.
Apollo Bay Fishermen’s Co-op is one of the best fish and chip shops I’ve ever visited. The fish was incredibly fresh, with a light, crispy, and flavorful batter that made every bite satisfying. While the chips weren’t particularly special, they were still tasty and well-cooked. The garden salad was fresh and a great complement to the meal, and the oysters were exceptionally fresh and delicious. You order inside the shop and wait for your number to be called—simple and efficient. The staff were friendly, and the relaxed, seaside atmosphere added to the experience. A must-visit when in Apollo Bay.

Such delicious and fresh seafood !!! Always feel happy supporting the local Co-Op. Such a lovely spot to sit when the suns out. Everything on the menu is a treat, portion sizes are great. Amazing for sharing or single meals.
Isabelle S — Google review
The food was amazing as expected, we had the 1/2 Lobster and seafood platter for 2.... my only suggestion for improvement would be: - Create a nice out door dining experience to match the food eg, a level floor and enclosed dining area to exclude the seagulls and costal wind etc and upgrade the tables and chairs to match the food prices. - Update you Menu prices to include GST prices so they don't look cheaper than the final bill. I will definitely give you a shout out for fresh seafood that was delicious, in an amazing location and you were willing to switch salads at no additional costs. But I think if you want to excel in seafood and custom service, the dining area needs to suggest that some of the profits are being reinvested into the dinning experience. P.s. the Lobster was borderline undercooked and the scallops were all of a medium size. - Fish was delicious, Prawns were thick and tasty, oysters were excellent and the calamari was amazing.

One of the best fish and chips shop ever. If you’re a seafood lover, it’s a sin to miss this spot. On my way back to Melbourne, took a stopover at Apollo Bay and going by the reviews; we took a halt here to eat some seafood. It did not disappoint at all. Amazing food ! Must visit.
Ankita D — Google review
The fresh King Dory was really good. Large piece, crispy batter, tender and tasty inside. The tartar sauce compliments it nicely without being overpowering. Highly recommend for their fresh fish. Gets busy on the weekends, has 10% surcharge on Sat/Sun.

BEST FISH AND CHIPS I'VE EVER HAD! The food is very delicious, fresh and visually appealing. (My photos weren't the best) The view is lovely, and the servers were very nice. I will definitely come back here when I visit Great Ocean Road again. We ate around $230 between 6 people, the money was definately well spent, we all agree that the oysters were the best though.
Estelle — Google review
Wah super large food!! and the seafood platter is so delicious!! This is for a single person and I can’t even finish it!!! high recommended if u visit Apollo bay…
Lin G — Google review
This seafood bar on Apollo Boy is one of the most visited, and we ordered the seafood platter for two, grilled red snapper, and a la carte calamari. The food is decent for the price, but the calamari and grilled fish are better than the fish and chips. You get a nice view for lunch, and the public toilet is just a short walk away.

Dooley's Premium Ice Cream is an award-winning cafe and ice cream shop located in Apollo Bay, along the Great Ocean Road. They have a wide variety of mouth-watering flavors and have received prestigious awards, including the Australian Grand Dairy Award. With over 500 positive Google reviews, it's clear that their quality is top-notch. Visitors rave about the amazing texture and consistency of their ice creams, with flavors like salted caramel and tiramisu standing out as favorites.
We'd been here years ago but this time we've come back with 2 children in tow! They thought it was great - of course they did, they're children! But so did we. We stayed 2 nights & had ice-cream both nights too. Reasonably priced for one scoop & good for a kiddies scoop. And great to sorry a local business & not a big chain - got to keep these places going and this little place is fabulous (that's why they have lots of awards up on the wall).

Amazing experience. We were recommended this place by our tour guide Ray who raved about the ice cream. The lovely girl serving us was absolutely delightful and despite the queue being long because we were part of a tour group, she treated each customer with care and made sure we had the full experience. Serving size was great and the taste of the ice cream was delicious. Definitely understand the hype. Thank you!
Rebecca L — Google review
Our tour guide insisted we check this place out… he knew was he was talking about! This place did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious ice cream! The lady was exceptional, she knew about coeliac disease and prepared mine separately out the back. I even got a gf cone - woo! Highly recommend!

love eating ice cream, and this place has a wide variety of flavors to try and enjoy. When I visited, they even had a chilli chocolate flavor — a rich chocolate with a spicy kick that came in after the sweetness. Pretty unusual, but interesting! 😂 In the end, I went with my go-to favorite and safe choice: mint chocolate chip. (I think (and as I could recall) this might be the only ice cream shop in the area)

Amazing little ice cream shop. Huge range of flavours. We tried 4 and all were amazing, especially the honey malt. Definently worth stopping in.

Highly, highly recommend their ice cream! It’s definitely the best ice cream that I've ever had. I bought three scoops with different flavors for my family, and everyone gave each flavor a high score. I’d love to come back again just for it.

Had three flavours of icecream here - mango, coffee and Vegemite Coffee and Vegemite were superb. Creamy, flavourful and the Vegemite was not too overpowering The mango one had a bit of a gummy texture and the flavour was not good at all - very artificial

I loved their chocolate icecream. Strawberry chocolate was Okayish. Hazelnut praline was good. This icecream outlet is known as the world’s best icecream shop. I highly recommend visiting this place in Apollo Bay.

While the reserve is currently undergoing upgrades to enhance its facilities, it remains a popular spot for families and travelers looking to unwind in a beautiful coastal setting.
Omg this woodland walk was amazing. You can find the second tallest tree in the world. The jungle reserve is the best place to explore various types of giant trees and giant ferns ❤️😍💞

Apollo Bay Bakery is a local favorite known for its delectable baked goods, with the famous scallop pie being a must-try. This renowned pie features fresh scallops, vegetables, and a creamy sauce encased in flaky pastry. The bakery's central location on the main street makes it convenient for visitors to stop by and enjoy their selection of pies and sandwiches.
Opening at 6am I was impressed by the quality and variety of their food! The scallop pie was excellent! So fresh and tasty! I was worry that it might taste fishy but it was perfect! I highly recommended stopping by!
Virginia L — Google review
I was told by our guide to to try the world famous Apollo Bay Scallop pie. The cashier was trying to back a smile as I ordered using that name. If you are expecting something amazing then you may be disappointed. What you get is a really really good pie. They really make goid pies, shortcrust pastry with generous filling with perfect balance of flavors. I am not sure if it is "world famous" ,but it was definitely a great scallop pie. So if you are on the great ocean road, be sure to stop here.
Hk A — Google review
Apollo Bay Bakery is a really nice spot with a fantastic selection of patisserie, small cakes, vegetarian options, and plenty of different meat choices. My absolute favourite was the scallops – truly delicious! The food is great, fresh, and well worth stopping for. The only downside was the service. It felt more like a “just order and go” attitude, not particularly kind or welcoming. If the service matched the quality of the food, I would happily give 5 stars.
Michael G — Google review
The popular curry scallop pie was aromatic and filled with scallops, mild curry flavour enhance rather than overwhelm, yummy! Next day I tried the chunky beef (my go-to pie), tender juicy chunky pieces. Very friendly staff! The pastry is on the hard side, especially the bottom, almost like a pot for you to dig into the insides (I've tried in 3 places in Victoria, and simillar). I much prefer the softer flaky pastry, which seems to be the norm in Western Australia (recommend Pinjarra Bakery, Toodyay Bakery, Nannup Bakery).
Jean1 T — Google review
The people are kind and the food is delicious. I love the signage and cozy feel. We had both of the scallop pies and they were SOOOO GOOD. We also had a Chai and the Basque Cheesecake. The cheesecake had great consistency and wasn't too dry or sweet. The Chai was a balanced flavor at a good temperature. The staff answered all of our questions qnd made us feel welcomed.
Hannah C — Google review
The pies at Apollo Bay Bakery are truly delicious – especially the scallop pie, which is outstanding. In my opinion, the prices are a little on the high side, but the quality is very good. Unfortunately, the experience was spoiled by the cashier. The girl at the counter was very unpleasant, showing passive-aggressive behavior and a lack of courtesy. This kind of service really takes away from what could have been a great visit.

Kind staff, was super busy in the morning - a good pie. We had the roast chicken and scallop pie with hot chocolates. Pretty standard- It was a good for the morning ☀️

Restaurant
Chopstix in Apollo Bay is a popular spot known for its generous portions and flavorful dishes. The menu offers a variety of rice and noodle-based items, including soupy and fried options. Visitors have praised the Ninja Laksa with abundant seafood and the Nasi Goreng with well-cooked ingredients. The Thai Green Curry and BBQ Pork with Fried Singapore Noodles were also highly recommended.
Really good food. Thai girl approves. Tom Yum fragrant and tasty. Pad Thai seafood really nice fried noodles (kind of tastes like Malaysian Char Kway Taeo with only mild tamarind compared to Tbai but good for Aussie tastes and I loved it - I don't normally find Pad Thai flavourful but loved this one). I'd just suggest putting the chilli flakes in a side bowl (spice level was perfect for me but I noticed others left bad reviews). And stylish fun restaurant. Price was fun for tourist route - as expected.
L M — Google review
Disappointing Experience at Chopstix, Apollo Bay We were torn between The Vault and Chopstix, but unfortunately, we chose the latter—and regretted it. The food is way overpriced for the quality. I ordered the Tom Yum noodles, which were nothing like the authentic dish. Instead of the usual spicy and sour flavor, it was overly sweet. The flower crabs and prawns didn’t taste fresh at all, which was a big letdown. My child had the Teriyaki noodles, and those were too sweet as well. It honestly felt like the place doesn’t do Asian food any justice. To make matters worse, I witnessed something that completely ruined my experience: the waitress stuck her thumb (while wearing a blue glove) into my Tom Yum soup while serving it. Not only is that unhygienic, but it also made me feel uncomfortable and concerned about the cleanliness of the restaurant overall. Even though the place may appear crowded at times, I strongly recommend avoiding it—especially for tourists looking for a good meal in Apollo Bay.
HY C — Google review
I had a great experience here unlike some of the other reviewers. It wasn’t busy at all and the service was quick and friendly. The food and drinks were good and filling and they accommodated to a menu change request we had. The atmosphere is lovely. Lots of cool posters and art plastered on the walls and cool decor like the lights, Astro boy cabinet, and street fighter machine(which unfortunately did not play).
Alana — Google review
Chef hates it there, no love in the food. Don’t go here if you can. Chef has to deal with oversea tourist, cook, clean. Bro on the edge of snapping. Owner seems to own a few spots on this street anyways. Tom yum, was too salty was just a mix of spices and lemongrass with salt water and some lemon juice. Handful of frozen seafood mix. Garnished with some green herbs to look pretty.
Chris H — Google review
Dinner for two and we shared dishes; Two entrees, Chicken satay (three sticks) + extra stick & Pork dim sims (two) Main - BANGKOK STYLE SEAFOOD PAD THAI with Wok fried flat rice noodles, crab, calamari, scallops, prawns, mussel, tofu, tamarind sauce, with peanuts, bean sprouts, chilli flakes and citrus, also as spicy 🌶️ as you like it! We took 1/2 back to our accommodation as so filling.

Chopsticks in Apollo Bay is a great spot for a tasty meal. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and beautifully presented. While the atmosphere didn’t particularly stand out, the service was friendly and attentive, and the quality of the food was really what mattered most. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dining experience, and I would definitely return.
Rajesh M — Google review
On the first day, we took some food away to eat at home. Only the kids had it, so I didn’t get to try it myself — just noticed there was a lot left over, and most of it ended up being thrown away. We went back the next day and ordered different dishes to try again. One of them was pork chop noodles, but they forgot to include the pork chop. Unfortunately, after trying the food this time, it really didn’t taste good. Quite disappointing. After that, I didn’t feel like sharing about the other dishes anymore.

The Great Ocean Walk is a mesmerizing destination that offers stunning beach and ocean views, as well as a sculpture garden and various dining options. It starts in Apollo Bay and ends at the twelve apostles, spanning 110km. However, you don't need to walk the entire track to appreciate its beauty. The area is part of the Great Otway National Park, known for its breathtaking waterfalls, lush rainforests, and diverse wildlife.
We did the GOW in 8 days. It was a beautiful walk that we thoroughly enjoyed. Difficult at times but manageable. Campsites are well located and water was available in March, which is usually a dry time. This walk is a must do trek.
Ian — Google review
I did the great ocean walk spit into 5 days and then 3 days. I found it great! The paths were well dug out but some feedback would be for a park ranger or someone to be at the campsites because there was people that arrived that didn’t book, which caused the scarce of campsites. The views were incredible and it challenged me and my family but we managed and the relief at the end was amazing. At the end of the walk, there is a visitor centre that was so busy; we didn’t stay for long. There is a 6 year old in our family and he managed so is possible for young people. Just wish all the campsites were closer to the beach or had a nice view like the first couple and not tucked away in the middle of the bush. The amount we walked each day was reasonable (challenging but not to much). Highly recommended this walk for anyone willing! 😊

Did the great ocean hike with a couple of friends, and while the steep uphills were quite difficult, especially with the heat, it was a great experience. Just a warning if you do this trail during summer and spring, there will be quite a few snakes like Eastern browns and tiger snakes. Otherwise, have fun!

The Great Ocean Road is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience breathtaking coastal views and lush natural landscapes. The journey starts with a long drive through beautiful forests, offering a peaceful and scenic escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The route to Apollo Bay is particularly stunning, with winding roads through thick trees and quiet, serene surroundings. It's a relaxing and picturesque drive that sets the tone for the rest of the trip. Upon reaching Apollo Bay, visitors can enjoy a delicious scallop pie, which comes highly recommended by locals. This local delicacy features a perfectly baked crust filled with tender scallops and a rich, flavorful filling. It's a simple yet satisfying snack that perfectly complements the coastal vibe of the town. If you're up for more adventure, the journey continues with a 2-hour drive to Chick n Ranch, a popular spot known for its rotisserie chicken. The chicken is roasted to perfection, juicy, and packed with flavor, making it a great stop for those hungry after the long drive. The place has a cozy, relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy a hearty meal. Overall, the Great Ocean Road offers much more than just stunning views. It’s an experience that combines nature, food, and relaxation into one unforgettable road trip. Whether you're a nature lover or a foodie, the road trip to Apollo Bay and beyond will leave you with lasting memories. The mix of scenic beauty, delicious food, and leisurely pace makes this drive well worth the time and effort. It's definitely a journey worth taking.

La Bimba is a popular restaurant in Apollo Bay, known for its modern Australian cuisine made with locally sourced produce. The venue offers stunning ocean views and a daily rotating menu featuring dishes like fire-baked pumpkin and bone-roasted duck. Seafood lovers will enjoy the lobster roll, rock lobster butter garlic, bucket of prawns, and other seafood delights. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food justifies it.
Limited menu with gluten-free options noted. We got lucky and scored a table for five though initially told they were fully booked. Meals are definitely expensive. They print their menu everyday so hard to know what exactly your options are by looking online. The duck pastry and potatoes were nice as were the steaks. I also appreciated the restaurants apparent commitment to locally and ethically sourced foods. Only negative was one staff member scurrying and stomping around the tables.

A must try for seafood lovers! Though they have a limited menu but the food is spot on. We tried the lobster roll and rock lobster butter garlic. The lobster roll would have been much more enjoyable if the bread was a roll rather than a rounded bread with slit in the diameter, the taste was good and the fries were amazing. However the rock lobster was epic and yum. They also have bucket of prawns and a big tub of seafood delights which looks delicious. Ask for their dessert of the day... they are worth a try. Overall a very pleasant experience and pricey but ideal for big groups.

It is one of the best places along the Great Ocean Road - excellent fresh and local seafood. It does get busy during peak holiday seasons - good staff and the chef offers a range of fresh caught fish. Most of the products are sourced as local as possible. Brand new menu is excellent - ENJOY!

Delicious food made with obviously fresh and quality produce. Definitely on the pricey side considering the serving size (the king whiting pictured below cost, if memory serves, around $35-40), but in the end we didn't mind because everything tasted fantastic. (As a side note, there were a lot of flies buzzing around our area while we ate, which became quite frustrating as we had to actively defend our food from them. Reader mileage may vary.)

Found this lovely restaurant for dinner at Apollo Bay. The black mussels and scallop linguine we had were really good and had a suitable portion for 2 people. The service of the owner made the night perfect and we left feeling satisfied

What an experience for us, Swiss family, we enjoyed the welcoming, the service and the food was delicious. We had Salmon, Lamb, Kangaroo and the fantastic bouillabaisse! Entrées and the small side salad were great too. Awesome !!! We can only highly recommend the place to all those passing by Apollo Bay. Don’t miss it.

If you are in Apollo Bay, this is one of the best restaurants going around here. We had the pork belly and fish of the day. The food was excellent, I can't fault any of the dishes. Mark, with his 14 years of experience, and his quirky laugh, provides the best service. The food is worth every dollar. Amazing!!!! We will be hear a few more times.

Arrived for a sit down breakfast; my friend & I order a coffee & eggs Benedict each. We ordered at 9:42am & received our coffees not long after. However, did not receive our food until 40minutes later. When we finally got our food, the poached eggs were full of water, drenching our 'dish' & the hollandaise sauce had way to much salt. Also for the price paid the serving size was minimal... We can understand if the cafe may have been busy (which it didn't seem to bad) or maybe it was just a rough day. But some communication between the staff to customers would have been appreciated.

The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The owner has a great personality and infectious laugh, they will make sure you’re having a good time. Highly recommend!

Best food I’ve had in Australia even though it’s not a fancy gourmet place. Simple but delicious dishes, right close to the beach. The kangaroo meat was particularly good

Nice little no frills cafe that's popular with the locals. It's not like the relatively large food-hall type restaurants and cafes on the main drag that cater for busloads of foreign tourists. We ordered the specials, namely, the thai green curry and red lentil and vegetable soup, both of which were very tasty. Service was prompt and efficient. Apollo Bay prices. Wheelchair accessible. Amex not accepted.

This place is a gem. Highly recommended. Mark (I believe the owner) was super friendly and helpful with the orders. Food tasted amazing. Simple and absolutely delicious. Fish of the day was so fresh and well prepped that imho is a must-have here. Pair your food with a good bottle of wine (reasonably priced) on a cold day, and simple perfection! Thanks Mark and hope to see you again soon.

Masala Bay

Masala Bay is a hidden gem along the Great Ocean Road, offering authentic Indian cuisine made with the best local produce. The tandoori dishes are particularly impressive and satisfying. While the starters like Onion bhajji, Hara bhara kebab, and Chicken pakora were mind-blowing, some mains could be improved. Despite a late start due to ingredient delays, the chef's accommodating nature shone through as he prepared fresh daal for a friend in need.
Absolutely delicious. We got the butter chicken and beef madras, rice and garlic naan. To die for! Can't wait to come back and try the whole menu :) Also, the staff were perfectly accommodating and friendly.

It's great to hear that the restaurant is making efforts to improve and enhance the customer experience. Discussing changes in table spacing and numbering indicates a commitment to creating a more organized and efficient environment. However, it seems like there might be some communication gaps or mix-ups in the kitchen, as you received butter naan instead of the garlic naan you ordered. It's also important for the management to address the freshness of ingredients, especially when it comes to dishes like chicken curry. Providing fresh and high-quality ingredients is crucial for customer satisfaction and overall dining experience. Since the restaurant is under new management, it might be worth giving them feedback on your experience. They may appreciate your input as they work towards refining their operations. Whether through a direct conversation with the management or through an online review platform, sharing your observations can contribute to the ongoing improvement process. Despite the minor issues, it's positive that you found the food tasty, and the management's commitment to making positive changes is promising. Hopefully, as they continue to refine their processes, your future experiences at the restaurant will only improve.

We visited this restaurant during our great ocean road tour, we stayed around 600m away. There are quite a few restaurants nearby. Having read the reviews here I was skeptical to come here but my friends still insidted to try Indian dinner. It wasnt as bad a reviews. Though food wasnt very good but it wasnt bad either. I would rate 3/5 on taste 4/5 for service ( they would regularly come to ask to crosscheck if we need something) 4/5 ambience 5/5 location of restaurant. Near to ocean and hotels. Lots of parking nearby. Rice 1 Paneer malai 1 Chana masala 1 Garlic naan 4 Tandoori roti 2 costed us 100+$ They have 10% surcharge on weekends

This place was a hidden gem on the Great Ocean Road which we found luckily. We were hungry for some good food and this came along at just the right time. We ordered some starters like Onion bhajji, Hara bhara kebab and Chicken pakora. They were simply mind blowing. Each dish was topping the other in terms of taste. The mains were great too but could be a bit better considering both the Chicken tikka masala and the Paneer masala we ordered had the exact same base. They were good taste wise but redundant if someone is eating both together. The naans and rotis were as good as ever. We did order Mango Lassi as well which was also surprisingly well made. For desserts, we had Gulab Jamun which was well served and hot. In terms of ambience, even though it's a relatively small place, it makes up for it in terms of the decorations used and lighting. All in all, a really great place to go to for indulging your taste buds while enjoying the water side view.
Sourabh I — Google review
The food was delicious. It's not as spicy as your usual Indian food which might disappoint some, but for people like myself and my daughter, it was well received, it suited us fine. The chicken tandoori was my favourite, absolutely scrumptious. The servings are small for the price you pay. The vibe in the restaurant is quite pleasant.

I took biryani takeaway here last night. Better than some great restaurants in Melbourne. Whoever the chef it maybe, you are good at it and thanks for that awesome biryani after a tiring 4x4 day. Perfectly cooked chicken and well balanced spices. Missing 1 star is for price, $25 is bit expensive I would say. Around $15 mark, down for it anytime. But I know lot of numbers make up that price. But, just a suggestion and definitely not a revisit if it's me. I would definitely recommend visiting if you don't mind $. Tasty 👌
BHARATH Y — Google review
Super expensive! We ordered a curry and few breads and we were shocked when we had to pay $99! For a second, we did convince ourselves thinking it would be worth the taste, but wait no! there was nothing special in fact the paneer didn’t even taste fresh. Please save your money!
Vishal D — Google review
One of the most horrible experience with non-authentic Indian food. The service was absolutely pathetic. We waited for more than 45 minutes to get contact once again. The payment done in cash without getting a receipt despite asking. The taste of the food was burnt masala and nothing else. The payment had to be done in advance due to the lack of personal. The yellow dal looked black due to the burned masala with a pathetic taste (see picture). The rice was dry and probably old. Can’t comment on the non-veg food as we are vegetarian.

If you find yourself traveling along the scenic Great Ocean Road, make sure to stop by George's Restaurant for a delightful dining experience. This charming eatery boasts an expansive dining area that evokes a nostalgic cafeteria feel, perfect for those who appreciate a cozy atmosphere. The kitchen operates with impressive efficiency, serving up high-quality dishes that cater to various dietary preferences, including excellent vegan options.
Even though the price range says 20-40, these two items (1 barramundi grill and prawn dish) were enough for 3 of us (2 adult 1 kid 11yo) and we were full. The food taste was also fantastic. I'm happy to give 5

Our tour van stopped in this area for lunch. We decided to eat here as our tour guide, Anne recommended this place. I ordered seafood pizza, it was cheese loaded and perfect amount of seafood. I first thought I ordered a very big pizza but in the end, I was able to finish all of it, too good to takeaway, too good to not finish, it was delicious. Place was clean, music wasn't loud and staff were friendly. Overall I am glad Anne recommended this place and now I recommended this place to you.

Today I stopped by George’s Restaurant in Apollo Bay while exploring the Great Ocean Road. The place has a nice, casual seaside vibe — it’s conveniently located right along the main stretch, making it an easy stop for travelers looking for a quick meal. I ordered the Fish & Chips and an Angus Burger. The fish and chips were definitely the highlight — freshly cooked, crispy on the outside, and tender inside. The portion was generous and the chips were hot and well-seasoned, perfect for a coastal lunch after a long drive. It really hit the spot. The Angus Burger, however, was more on the average side. While the size was good and it came out quickly, the patty felt a bit dry and lacked that juicy flavor I expected. The bun was slightly over-toasted, and the overall taste could have been better balanced. The service was quick and the staff were polite, though the place was quite busy, which is understandable given its location. It’s a good spot if you’re after something fast and filling rather than gourmet dining. Overall: Great for a quick bite along the Great Ocean Road Fresh and tasty fish & chips Burger could use a little more flavor and moisture Tip for travelers: Go for the seafood options — they seem to be George’s strong point. Try to visit outside of peak hours if you want a quieter experience.

For anyone traveling along the Great Ocean Road without a specific restaurant in mind, this spot is a great place to stop for fish and chips. The prices aren’t too high, but the portions are huge! There were four of us, and we each ordered a plate (we were really hungry), but in the end we couldn’t finish because the servings were just that big. The place is quite spacious — you can sit wherever you like. It’s not table service, so you’ll need to help yourself.
Rubes — Google review
They got various choice of food, but basically people here for fish&chip, the fish they use has a special flavor which I don’t like. And they charge for sauces which is ridiculous. The good thing here is they have big space for buses of loaded tourists, and open til late when others closed.
Jasper L — Google review
Stopped here for takeaway of family fish and chips. It was very generous, freshly cooked fish and chips, potatoe cakes and sauces. It tasted really fresh and the fish and chips crispy. The place itself in Apollo Bay is big, indoor and outdoor seatings. Service quick, place clean. The shop is across the beach and car park spaces. It’s easy to get to when in Apollo Bay.
Mrsm — Google review
The service is good. The food comes fast. But the food tastes a bit plain and fish tastes dried. I ordered this giant pack for $80 because it’s public holiday and they charge 15% extra. Recommend the owner should give more sauce for this pack because 8 sauce won’t be enough and the food is so plain so it will be better with some more sauce. Note* they charge $1 extra for a sauce.
Huoy — Google review
They offer quite a variety of food and was hoping they had good fish and chips. The atmosphere was nice, open and airy with plenty of seating. I did find though that the fish and chips were quite below average considering its location. Nothing special, just very basic fish and chips needing a bit more salt. Fish souvlaki was also not very flavourful. The sauce needed to be more garlicky. There was nothing special about it unfortunately.

Maits Rest Rainforest Walk is a delightful 30-minute stroll through fern gullies and eucalypts on a raised boardwalk, located in the Otway Ranges. The wooden boardwalk provides a unique view of the ancient, cool temperate rainforest, making it wheelchair accessible. Visitors can admire the 300-year-old myrtle beech, which is an unusual growth combining two or three trees in one.
You can enjoy the forest atmosphere here and air is so fresh. You can see the super large and great trees and some special vegetation. It is a nice natural place.

Maits River Rainforest Walk is on the Great Ocean Road, near Apollo Bay. It is well worth the stop and walk. The walk is on a raised boardwalk, and easy pace. Circular path is 800m, allow 40 minutes. Cool, thick, lush forest with stream running. Signage to explain some of the more spectacular trees there. One is a 200 year-old Myrtle Beech tree. We visited in Spring, so the tree-ferns were in full reproduction. There are two huge hollow trees, great for photo opportunity. Yes, well worth the stop and walk. Recommended.

Maits Rest is always worth a visit when driving through the Otways. Some of these giant trees are almost 300 years old. You can enjoy as much or as little of the walk as you like. Plenty of signs and information about the vegetation. There are tracks and wooden boardwalks to make this area very easy to access. Here are some photos from our recent visit...

Wildlife Wonders is an Australian wildlife sanctuary offering various guided tours, including the Walk with Wildlife Tour and Dusk and Dawn Discovery Tours. The 12-hectare sanctuary provides a safe haven for native species such as koalas, bandicoots, and pademelons. Visitors can enjoy an immersive experience observing kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, and other animals in their natural habitat while learning about the unique ecosystems of the Otways.
We stumbled upon Wildlife Wonders during our drive along the Great Ocean Road from Apollo Bay, and it turned out to be one of the true highlights of our trip. The tour offered an intimate experience in nature, allowing us to observe the animals up close, roaming freely in their natural environment. Our guide, Sasha, was an absolute delight—her passion and knowledge shone through with every word, making the experience all the more enriching. The grounds were beautifully maintained, with a welcoming atmosphere and wonderful staff throughout. We couldn’t recommend this experience more highly. Thank you, Wildlife Wonders, for making our trip so memorable—please keep up the incredible work you do.

Came here for the dusk tour, and even though it's pretty expensive for what it is (especially compared to the daytime tours), I'd say my experience was worth every cent, especially as someone who visited Australia mostly to see its wildlife. This tour was probably the first time in my life that I had ever seen live pademelons, so that was already quite a highlight for me. Additionally, my tour group got to see quite a number of potoroos, koalas, wallabies and kangaroos. But the main highlight for me was the emu and his chicks who we kept stumbling upon even outside the tour. Even though the chicks were already a third of their father's size, they were still so cute! In fact, it was this emu family that essentially hypnotized me into booking the tour. Our guide, Erin, and her clear love for the animals in the sanctuary certainly helped with my experience. Additionally, the gift shop and cafe were very well-maintained and clean, and the staff at the sanctuary were overall very receptive and friendly. I'm not sure if it's mentioned in the website, but a light meal is provided before the dusk tour (and it was LOVELY). Overall, I would recommend any nature lovers to drop by at this place, especially for the tours at dusk when the animals are most active. Even if you don't end up going for the tours, as long as you buy something from the gift shop or cafe, you are supporting wildlife conservation in the Cape Otway region. If you're lucky, you may even stumble upon the emu family without needing to book a tour!

Amazing experience! I took the 75 minute guided tour, and right from the start we were surrounded by wildlife! We saw multiple koalas, pademelons, wallabies, kangaroos and at least 3 different bird species (including Emus!). Wildlife Wonders also has a lovely little Cafe attached, and an extensive gift shop (including books and literature about the flora and fauna native to the region), and all proceeds go towards helping conserve out beautiful wildlife. If you are staying in or near Apollo Bay, Wildlife Wonders is an absolute must-visit! Cannot recommend highly enough!

This was such an incredible experience. We were lucky enough to see koalas, pademelons, wallabies, and emus while learning about the conservation work being done here. Sasha, our guide, was fantastic—knowledgeable, attentive, and very mindful of the animals’ wellbeing. All wildlife is observed respectfully in its natural environment, so sightings are never guaranteed, but you’re very likely to encounter them. What impressed us most was how calm the animals remained, simply going about their routines thanks to the thoughtful approach of the staff. We did the morning tour (about 75 minutes) They have a well-organized setup, with audio headsets and excellent binoculars provided. The grounds are spotless and well maintained. Some reviews mention the price, but knowing that the fees directly support conservation made it feel more than worthwhile. Be sure not to miss the café—the food and coffee were delicious! Overall, it’s inspiring to see such a passionate team carrying out important conservation work. Highly recommended.

Marengo Family Caravan Park is a top choice for a dog-friendly holiday in Apollo Bay. The park welcomes dogs all year round in both cabins and campsites, with the condition that they are kept on a lead, cleaned up after, and never left unattended. Visitors have enjoyed clean and tidy cabins with ocean views, frequent visits from native birds, and close proximity to the beach with rock pools to explore. The park's koalas add to the natural charm of the area.
Came for a last minute one night stay in the middle of winter. We just stayed in an unpowered site. Wow, the views were just amazing at sunset and early morning. Beautiful to hear the waves crashing as we fell asleep. Would definitely recommend to anyone and hoping we will be back!

Really nice for the low season, $100 for 3 nights for a powered site. The +: • The view was unbelievable from our site (69) 😍 • The ocean was at our doorstep 🌊 • The area is very pretty, with beautiful walking tracks 🚶🏼‍♀️ The -: • The amenities were on the opposite side of the campground 🚿 • The campsites were flat and very close together. • There was a smell of dog poop around our site 🐕 Conclusion: It was really nice and good for the price ($33/night), but we wouldn't spend more. This place needs a bit of love and it will become a little paradise ✨️

A great van park for winter, not many there and winter deals are good.. Only down side is I think caravan parks should not allow firepits as van spacing is to close ( if you have respiratory problems ) or you just don't like the smell.of smoke around your van from someone else ( or 2 vans lit up with pits ) Would visit again.

Marriner's Lookout is a must-visit spot along the Great Ocean Road, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Apollo Bay, the hinterland, and the ocean. It's a short ten-minute walk from the car park to reach this hilltop viewpoint. The lookout was generously donated by a private family for all to enjoy. The hike up is surrounded by beautiful trees and lush greenery, making it an enjoyable experience.
The pictures don’t do it any justice but Mariners lookout gives you a sweeping look across Apollo bay and much further. Not a lot of parking but not busy either. The walk up is easy though I can imagine in the rain it can be harder as it’s a natural path rather than paved.

We did a one-day trip to Apollo Bay and discovered a must-visit spot—just a 10-minute walk along a small trail. It’s very kid-friendly for children over 4 years old, and for younger kids, parents can safely carry them. There is a slightly steep slope at the beginning, which may look challenging at first, but it’s manageable. Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view—a wide open space with stunning scenery of the harbor and coastline.

Marriner’s Lookout is a popular vantage point which overlooks the Apollo Bay and the township. The lookout is constantly having streams of people making the short trek to the vantage point for the scenic views of the bay. Definitely a worthy lookout point, and a point for consideration during your Great Ocean Roadtrip.

The view here is simply breathtaking. A huge shout out to the friendly lady at the Apollo bay IGA supermarket who recommended us to come by! She mentioned that this is her favourite place in town so we checked it out. I went in August 2025 and the weather was amazing. Definitely recommend it. Please be mindful that this is a private property area and we should be respectful and considerate to the people who kindly share this area with us to take in such views

This lookout is an awesome spot to take in all of Apollo Bay from up high. It’s a bit tricky to find, and heads-up: no coaches or caravan trailers can make it up here. After parking, you need to go through a gate that you gotta close every time you pass through, which is a bit of a hassle. After that, you’re in for a 10-minute walk along a kinda creepy mountain trail—nothing too tough, but it’s got that eerie vibe. Once you get to the top, though, it’s totally worth it. The view of the ocean and Apollo Bay is absolutely stunning, like jaw-dropping gorgeous. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in the area, just be ready for the adventure to get there!

Marriner's Lookout in Apollo Bay offers breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline and the surrounding lush hills. Perched high above the town, it’s a must-visit spot for those looking to capture the beauty of the Great Ocean Road. The short, uphill walk to the lookout is rewarded with stunning vistas, making it ideal for photography, especially at sunrise or sunset. The serene atmosphere, combined with the sweeping views of the ocean and Apollo Bay below, makes it a perfect spot for reflection or a peaceful break during your travels. Highly recommended for nature lovers and photographers alike. Hike 10min No wheel chair access but family and friends can help get on top. Ps . Get some watercress on your way back .. from small stream on the side walk.

Breathtaking views of the coastline. You may need to walk for 10 to 15 mins to reach the top. Along the way the path is shaded with trees and it is an easy walk towards the top. You may get to spot some local birds which I find it interesting.

When I brought this up I was told it was because I booked through booking.com - which I didn't. I booked directly through their website. The excuse given was that two of the superior cabins are like this...which is not what I booked or what it states on the website. Gave two stars as I was able to get a full refund without any issues. Just caused a lot of stress trying to find a better cabin on a busy long weekend.

Walking distance to town was great. Park was clean but you had to pay extra for everything. You had to pay for the bbq, pay for the heater which only lasted 30 minutes. We went to watch a movie in the games room but there was no remote for the TV. When we asked about it the man was rude. When we were discussing how we were going to park the man yelled out that he's been there 20 years just park the way he said. Big 4 might be the better option.

Apollo Bay Holiday Park is very central, a G'Day Park, the reasons why we chose it. It is very family-oriented, with lots of facilities on offer and lots for the family to do. Our cabin was good, clean and comfortable. The Manager was friendly - thank you. We had a great stay. Yes, well recommended ! Thank you.

Close enough to town and the beach and the site was clean but we found a few maintenance issues with our cabin. The heater banged when the thermostat cut in and out so we had to turn it off at night also, when you turned on the hot water in the shower the pipes rattled so much you could feel the whole cabin shaking. We had a superior cabin and the only difference between that and a basic cabin seemed to be that it had a queen bed and was slightly bigger in size. Other than that everything else seemed the same. We needed our towels replaced as they were wet after 2 days, but when my wife asked she was told that she needed to wash them and dry them herself. Eventually we got the towels replaced. Parking was tight and the photo advertised shows an executive cabin so l would suggest looking at the plans carefully before purchasing a cabin. Having been in a lot of cabins at other caravan parks this is the worst we have been at a wont be going back. l'll be looking at Big4 for a change. l would rate it 3.5 if l could..

Ladies showers were clean but hot water temp not that hot, could be hotter. $1 coin to use their bbq and also $1 to use the gas heater which lasted 30 minutes. No oven just a stove. No boom gate so be sure to lock or pack away valuables.

Nice, very clean park, good sites lovely camp kitchen, just disappointed that you had to pay for heating and BBQ within this facility. Would expect that cooking and heating facilities would be included in site fees as per the norm.

Campground
Nestled within the Great Otway National Park, Blanket Bay Campground offers a picturesque setting just a short walk from the beach. The campsite provides stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and easy access to the beach via walking tracks. While some visitors found the sites to be somewhat close together, many appreciated waking up mere meters from the ocean and enjoying breathtaking sunrises.
Stunning camp ground Well kept by park rangers. Webb site showed camp ground was full but only about 8 sites occupied all week.

One of the most beautiful camping spots in Victoria. Book via Vic Parks website. Bring your own water..phone reception is scratchy and accessible via 2WD albeit a rough dirt road for the last 15 min.
Steve R — Google review
Very beautiful and serene. However, if you're going to camp there then bring drill-able rent pegs and not the usual thing ones you hammer in as the ground is hard and full of so many rocks that the tent pegs will just bend and not even make a dent in the ground. There's about 5 drop toilets if I remember correctly and beautiful hiking trails. The beach didn't seem safe for swimming at the time but absolutely beautiful nonetheless and full of life.
Samantha M — Google review
Amazing experience, drove in at night time so missed out on seeing exactly what was around us, but woke up in the morning literally 10 metres from the ocean, amazing sunrise and beautiful forest all around us. Communal fire pit there with a cooking hot plate on top, toilets and a small under cover area if needed. Highly recommend.
Pauly M — Google review
This was a really nice area to camp and explore. This is a review of Site 9, the site we booked. It is directly next to site 10, with no trees between sites (see photo). This could be good or bad depending upon whether you've booked both sites to accommodate a larger group. The site is quite rocky. We couldn't get all our tent pegs in so we had to use rocks (lucky we had some paracord). Lovely (although slightly obscured) view of the beach from the site, and directly next to beach access track. It is further away from the toilets than most sites (1-2 mins walk).

Most scenic campground with beach view lovely rocks and koalas and other wildlife encounters. Great spots and toilets. Tables for picnic.

Imagine my surprise when a short distance from the beach I discovered this beautiful waterfall. What a top place to visit.

Had some amazing experiences with nature and wildlife at this camp ground with koalas and kangaroos but also had a close encounter with a massive snake! Heads up to anyone staying there in future to be careful out there...

The Indian restaurant, Masala Bay Indian Restaurant - Apollo Bay, located along the stunning Great Ocean Road, offers delectable cuisine and a delightful atmosphere. Despite initial skepticism prompted by reviews, many patrons have found no reason for regret after giving the place a chance. In fact, they were thoroughly pleased with the food and even conversed with the manager regarding the mixed feedback. According to the manager, a significant number of daily customers praise the chef's culinary skills but refrain from leaving reviews.
Absolutely delicious. We got the butter chicken and beef madras, rice and garlic naan. To die for! Can't wait to come back and try the whole menu :) Also, the staff were perfectly accommodating and friendly.
Zoe B — Google review

Anish G — Google review
Dr K — Google review

The Great Ocean Road Brewhouse is a charming red-brick venue with outdoor seating, offering live sports, music, and TAB facilities. The Wild Feast at the Apollo Bay Foreshore is a popular event featuring delicious meals around fire pits by the ocean.
Great place the lady let me try the beer before I picked which one I liked. The waiter made home made short bread cookies and gave my kids some. They were great. Bathrooms were clean and all the girls were happy. Table 40 is by the heater I recommend it on a cold day. The bar looks great. Perfect place in summer or winter. Worth the money.

We stopped by the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse during our trip and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The garlic bread was fresh and perfectly toasted, and the chicken schnitzel with salad was delicious — crispy, well-cooked and generously portioned. The staff were friendly and the place had a lovely, relaxed vibe. A great spot to unwind after exploring the area!

We ate here Friday night 3rd of October and just want to give a big thanks and shout out to the gentleman running front of house. He didn’t stop the entire time we were there- from taking orders, greeting everyone, making sure guests were happy. He was so friendly and kind, and an absolute star of your establishment. Food was superb. Really lovely atmosphere Keep up the fantastic work- you’ll keep people coming back :)

The place was great , the staff were amazing, super friendly and happy to chat and interact. The Great Ocean Road Brewhouse in Apollo Bay is well recommended. It was cold (Early October) and the fire places were all going. Very cosy atmosphere. We (a couple) had beers and supper there. We had two Seniors Parmas. Photo of Menu is dated 7 October 2025. Friendly and efficient service. Yes, well recommended. Thank you.

Restaurant
Graze Apollo Bay is a stylish and modern bistro located in Apollo Bay, VIC. Despite not having waterfront views, it has quickly become a popular dining spot. The restaurant offers a six-course degustation menu featuring the region's best produce, including Dama Dama free-range wild harvested venison, local duck, Otway Pork, Warrnambool lamb, and dessert paired with local wines at bar prices.
Wow! When in Apollo Bay, Graze is a MUST! All the food we enjoyed here was superb. I particularly enjoyed the tempura zucchini flowers. I also really liked the roast duck breast. We were very well looked after by the wonderful staff. We were mainly served by Clara. We also met Kayla and the very talented Chef and owner, Julian. The espresso martini (with a twist) was also terrific. Excellent creation, Emily! We look forward to dining again here when next in the area. Here are a few photos from the evening...

Lovely staff, they managed to accomodate us without booking. Dinner was excellent, had the steak and the roast duck. Could not resist ordering two desserts which were delicious. Highly recommend this place for a nice dinner.

This place is phenomenal - an unassuming neighbourhood gem! Every dish was delicious - the braised beef rib and the venison empanadas were particularly standout and the desserts were lovely. We were well taken care of by the staff - service was genuine, warm, welcoming, friendly, helpful. The restaurant was full but not noisy. Can’t fault a thing, loved everything here! A must visit if you’re in the area.
Hannah K — Google review
The Good: Let’s start with the positives. Graze Apollo Bay is clearly a top-notch spot, and it’s easy to see why it comes highly recommended. The food was nothing short of amazing—every dish was packed with flavor, and the standout plates (Fraser Island spanner crab croquettes, Portarlington mussels, and those apple-smoked pork ribs!) were an absolute treat. To top it off, the cocktails were delicious, and the desserts? Worth saving room for! The Room for Improvement: While we would have loved a more private table, the wet weather had other plans, so we ended up in the main dining area. Being a lively group of eight, we may have ruffled a few feathers around us—oops! Not a huge issue, but a little more flexibility in seating options would have been ideal for a group our size. Would I Return? 100%! Graze Apollo Bay, you served up a feast to remember, and I’d gladly come back for another round of those incredible flavors. The Verdict: In conclusion, Graze Apollo Bay is a must-visit for food lovers. Whether you’re there for the fresh seafood, smoky ribs, or killer cocktails, you’re in for a treat. Just be mindful of your noise levels—unless you want to be that table (we definitely were, and we don’t regret it)! 🍽️🍹😆

Crème brûlée is the best I’ve ever had. Crumble was lovely. Steak was cooked to perfection. Octopus starter was cooked with finesse. And the fish…. Omg… so fresh… just melts in your mouth…. The baked potatoes on the side is something so unique. Just wished they had some salad options too.

The atmosphere was great and our waitress was lovely. I ordered my steak medium rare, but it came out medium well, and unfortunately it was burnt and had a bitter taste. Disappointing, especially given the otherwise nice experience.

For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Great Ocean Road Visitor Information Centre. Visitor center
The Great Ocean Road Visitor Information Centre is located in Apollo Bay, a popular tourist destination known for its swimming and surf beaches, boat harbor, and marina. The town's commercial center offers a variety of dining options overlooking the main beach. Visitors have praised the friendly and helpful staff at the information center, who provide valuable advice on local attractions and activities such as tide times for the Great Ocean Walk. The clean facilities also received positive feedback from travelers.
One of my best drives. Among the most famous war memorials. The winding roads along the beautiful sea is spectacular. This road is fun to drive and is scenic. Don't miss the tourist attractions along the way and view points. There are many beautiful beaches and water activities on this road.

Another info centre to add to the good list. The lady was very informative, but it did help that she was into fishing just as much as we were. Nothing worse than going to these places, and the people behind the desk can't help you cos their not from the area. We have been to a few like that and not helpful when you're trying to do your big lap.

Good afternoon, My name is Chor from Malaysia. I was in Melbourne Australia last week and signed up for a tour package to Great Ocean Road on 17 Aug 2025 (Sunday). During the lunch break (around 12.40 to 1.40 pm) at Bellbrae Restaurant, Appollo Bay, I ordered a chicken burger price at AUD 13. As the restaurant did not accept cash, I was asked to pay by credit card. Unfortunately, I didn’t request for a receipt, and the staff did not provide one either. The following day, when I checked my bank account, I discovered that the total amount charged was RM 98.50 (approximately AUD 34, which is higher than the menu price of AUD 13 (around RM 37.70 based on an exchange rate of 2.9). This means there was an extra charge of about AUD 21. Menu price : AUD 13 Charged amount : RM98.50 (≈AUD 34) Overcharge : AUD 21 I believe this overcharge may have been intentional. Could you please advise me on how can I lodge a formal complaint with the Australian Tourism authorities? Thank you for your assistance.

Apollo Bay Beach is a picturesque stretch of coastline that spans over 5 kilometers from the Harbour to Wild Dog Creek. It features a patrolled area near the surf club during summer and weekends, with popular surf breaks at Tuxion Road and Pisces (The Big4 Caravan Park). The beach is surrounded by lush vegetation and towering cliffs, offering stunning views of the ocean and landscape.
About a 2.5-hour drive from Melbourne to Apollo Bay via the inland route or around 3.5 hours if you take the scenic Great Ocean Road. My friends and I opted for the inland road, stopping at the Twelve Apostles on our way to Apollo Bay — totally worth it! On the way back, we took the scenic route along the coast. I’d recommend giving yourself a few extra hours for this return drive to enjoy the stunning ocean cliffs, winding roads, beautiful beaches, the light house, and why not the little waterfalls along the way!

What made it extra special for us was discovering one of the best ice creams we've ever had—absolutely delicious and the perfect treat on a sunny day! I have stayed at Apollo Bay a few times during trips to Victoria and recommend the Rayville Boathouses as prime accommodation near the beach & golf course. There is a lot of history in this town that is renowned for exceptional fishing and the local boats and trawlers in the bay are a testimony to this . There are plenty of shops on the Main Street that cater for every taste & requirement ranging from pubs , restaurants, take aways , supermarkets, servos etc. The seafood co-op is an absolute standout for some classic fish n chips . Definitely worth a visit , enjoy 😉

The Sweet View - The Great Ocean Road Lolly Shop offers a delightful experience reminiscent of childhood nostalgia, with its wide selection of traditional sweets and chocolates. The owners exude warmth and hospitality, ensuring customers feel welcomed. Apart from their impressive range of lollies, chocolates, and beverages, the coffee stands out as exceptionally good. While some candies may have unconventional flavors that might not suit everyone's taste, the store boasts a diverse assortment overall.
What a wonderful surprise this Lolly Shop in Apollo Bay is. The best coffee we have had was made by the friendly owners. The perfect macchiato and iced coffee. The coffee is locally roasted and the milk is locally sourced. The macchiato cup is so cute- sorry no coffee in it as it was so wonderful it was drunk before I could take a photo. Definitely worth going in for coffee.while we didn’t purchase lollies or chocolates there was a tempting range.

Sweet view is the sweetest establishment, the staff are gorgeous and the variety exciting and the quality impeccable. Graham spoke to us with passion about the products and service they have to offer and that enthusiasm truly is felt thru the store. I am no expert in sweet shops alone, but I am in milkshakes and Graham does one of the best milkshakes I have had. Thickness : check, price : check, flavours : definitely check, love : check. Thank you for making an excellent day in Apollo Bay.

Such a cute little stop along the Great Ocean Road! The staff (maybe the owners?) were really friendly. We got hot chips and jam donuts, both freshly made and so good. Great coffee! Lovely service. Stopped for a coffee on the way to the 12 apostles. The coffee was very good. Definitely having another one on the way back!

Very very expensive and average looking shop. Lolly shops should be a bit of fun, and for the prices of everything they could spend some money making the place looking amazing. Especially when going to other lolly shops in areas like Bright and Beechworth, it's pricey there too. But you don't mind when it's a bit of an adventure.

The truffle fries and calamari were great side dishes. The service is quick. It has a shop to buy goodies and good drinks as well. The toilets are clean and well maintained.

Relaxed, welcoming environment with a great selection of beverage options. 100% recommend the gin tasting flight, all very different in flavour profile but all delicious. Really enjoy my visit to this place and would definitely recommend to others.
Sam R — Google review
What we had: Skinny Fries - Good. The Aioli was tasty Calamari - Lovely spice, crispy & perfectly cooked. It went better with the aioli than the sauce it was served with. Gin Mule - gin was overpowered slightly by the ginger. Next time I will order a double shot. It was still pretty tasty. Citrus Splash - this was the pick of our drinks. The Grapefruit Gin was lovely. Coastal Gin with Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic. The Coastal Gin has strong anise notes. Not a flavour I like. Gamberi Pizza - crust was perfectly cooked. Garlic Prawns were amazing. If I were to order again, would ask to pass on the balsamic as it took away from the other flavours. Overall: Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Good place to visit.

Pretty interesting experience!! The gins were lovely, the tasting experience was sublime! The pizza was goood just that the choice on the food menu was pretty limited and the ambience was kinda flat, hence the not bringing this to a 5 star. What I mean by that, there should be more food choices, and maybe have some music in the background or something because a bar/restaurant kinda place will definitely be uplifted with good music around :) Now the gin, omg, it was so good. The staff really explained the gin tasters well. The good mix of local ingredients and local gin was really good. Id say you gotta experience it at least once. The oven baked pizza was GOOD, so if you’re a pizza person and love gin or even beer, then it’s easily a 5! Haha.
Danni D — Google review
The place is nice, atmosphere is great and service is hospitable, quick and friendly, and the cocktail was great. The pizza was good, but not great, and the menu is quite limited All in all, a good place to grab a drink and enjoy a decent pizza

I came a bit late for my lunch and the kitchen was closed at the time when I arrived. Even though, the kitchen was closed - they took my order :) The front desk lady and the guy who was working in the kitchen were super nice. The pizza which I ordered was pretty good. This place has a good vibe!!

Golf course
Enjoy a round of golf at Apollo Bay Golf Club, situated by the marina for a scenic coastal experience. With well-maintained greens and challenging tee shots, this course offers stunning views along the coast. Notable features include the 304m 3rd hole, which can feel like 500m with a headwind. The club offers both nine and eighteen-hole layouts, each providing beautiful scenery. A must-play destination in this seaside town!
Wow. Stunning scenery. Straightforward layout due to the limited footprint area only allowing so much groovy course design. Still great fun and challenging in the wind. Very friendly staff and a welcoming course. A must play if in the area!
Alexander B — Google review
One of my very favourite coastal golf courses has always been Apollo Bay. The course was in immaculate condition and is a delight notwithstanding some challenging tee shots. Greens small but were excellent condition with some stunning views along coast. Several interesting features include the 3rd only 304m but can play like a 500m with head wind. A 9 hole layout with 18 tees beautiful views and scenery. A must to play while in the region and a wonderful seaside town.
Ross V — Google review
A 9 hole course that can be played 18. is was the best experience for us. Driving 224km from Melbourne or 3 hours drive really worth the experience. it is a humble and entertaining country course wi the lots of good people there. Strongly advise to book via online through Book A Tee, as most of the time nobody was in the club house. My best tips : 1. book and pay via online no hassle 2. Played the first nine hole 3. Once you hit hole no 8, there is a small coffee shop in front of the green. Grab a cup and some refreshment 4. Do the 10th and the 11th, before you continue turn to left as there is A Tasty and must visit Fish and Chip shop, enjoy your break outside…you’ll love it 5. Continue the 12th and so on… You will enjoy the best experience in Apollo Bay GC in a full package

The outdoor Greenkeeper was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed round here. Small 9 holes but well kept greens and fairways.
Joshua B — Google review
Nice little course. $25 is a bit steep for a round of nine holes though.
Sam J — Google review
Not your typical course, perfect for what it is. Take 7 clubs, carry your own, shape your shots into the wind to hold small firm greens, soak in the wild surf coast and working fishing harbour and experience real golf. Do not expect a resort, country club, electric cart or hitting your yardage.

Apollo Bay Fishing Charters

Fishing charter
Apollo Bay Fishing Charters offers a variety of experiences, including family charters suitable for beginners and kids, outer reef trips for more experienced anglers, and sightseeing cruises to spot seals, dolphins, waterfalls, whales, and shipwrecks. The owner/operator is friendly and accommodating to children. With a powerful fishing vessel and an experienced guide who knows the best spots for catching gummy sharks, flatheads, snappers, and tuna in Apollo Bay waters.
We went fishing on the 6th of November. The weather was super windy but we still went fishing. Due to the weather we didn’t go to Dan’s usual fishing spots. He could adapt really well and still find some great spots for us ! :)) A lot of flatheads, some snappers and some sharks 🦈 You can clearly see that Dan knows his job perfectly. Amazing first experience I would do it again at 100% and recommend it too !
Simon D — Google review
If you’re looking for a great fishing charter on the great ocean road don’t hesitate to book this one! Daniel was absolutely amazing and went the extra mile. He was so patient and helped us catch so many fish!! He even filleted all 3 of our huge buckets of fish which took him over an hour after our charter had ended- legend!!
Rachel H — Google review
Went out with Dan the other day on the 6 hr trip. Great day. Little bit rough but boat handles conditions very well. Plenty of fish snapper flathead and gummy sharks. Each spot Captain Dan would tells us what was there and how to hook them. He does a good job he is there to take fish off the hook and put bait on. To top it all off we get back to the harbour and he fillets everything for us. Well worth the Money for a Good Day Out. 👍
Shane H — Google review
Excellent day, so glad we hooked into some gummy! We had fun. Thanks Dan, will be back and give you a call next time were down. Cheers!

One of the best fishing experiences you could have in 4 hours. A must if you are driving the great ocean road. Dan know his stuff when it comes to finding the best fishing spots. His fishing vessel had 500hp so it didnt take long to get out there. I took my 11 yr daughter and she was delighted. We caught gummy sharks, flatheads, snappers and plenty we just released. Manytimes two on a line. Its a day we will remember for a long time. Dan even fileted some of the fish for us so we could have a fresh grille that evening. Totally recommended.
H M — Google review
Sensational experience. The pinnacle in Fishing Charger Boat expertise. Very happy with our experience. Heaps of Gummy’s, flathead, snapper and Reef Fish. Will definitely be back.
Mohamed H — Google review
Best fishing experience ive ever had! Would definetly go on this charter the next time i come up to apollo bay. Caught a massive snapper and so many fish one after another. Daniel knew all the best spots and definetly knew what he was doing. Thanks heaps
Daniel K — Google review
We had a ripper of a time! One of the best moments on our 2 week stay in Lorne! Found ABFC really easily on Google and booked it straight away. Daniel, the owner and skipper of the tour, makes you feel completely at ease and is sooooo friendly! He’s also very knowledgeable about the whole tour, area and more! A local through and through, he knows his stuff and has prepared an awesome journey out to sea! We were blessed as we saw the seal colony on the rocks, managed to see 4 dolphins in various stages, the sunset, the waterfalls location and much more. But, the cherry on the cake was the boat ride: IT IS AWESOME! Although it was at 15 Knots, it felt like a lot more but Daniel knows the waters and the whole journey was unforgettable. Gutted we have to leave and don’t have time to do any other excursions with Daniel and ABFC’s. Such a nice, friendly bloke and makes you fell right at home. I’m a fellow businessman in Melbourne and know the perils of running a business and keeping things moving, even in COVID times. He’s done a brilliant job and I fully recommend Apollo Bay Fishing Charters and and Tours. Well done Danny!

Discovered this hidden gem while craving Asian cuisine and it exceeded expectations! Opted for the beef rice noodles which were incredibly flavorful and generously portioned. The service was prompt, ensuring a quick delivery of the mouth-watering dish. Impressed by the quality, returned the following day to indulge in their delectable lobster. A friend and I ordered a whole lobster accompanied by noodles cooked with onions and ginger – again, the preparation time was short and the taste exquisite.
The lockdown has driven me crazy and as my mum is stuck here with no flight back home, I decided to take her for a day trip somewhere she has never been -Great Ocean Road. She is quite passionate towards taking a lot of pictures so we decided to use the inland route first and by the time we arrived at Apollo Bay, it’s already 14:30. Several restaurants have been closed due to pandemic and only few options for us to choose from and we are so glad we chose this one which is the best seafood lunch we have had so far. The owners were so welcoming and even offered us some Cherries from their own yard. We ordered a one kilo lobster and half fish and a traditional Cantonese style lobster porridge and some veggie which I forgot to take pictures as I was busy chowing down the yummy lobster when the dish is served 😂 Highly recommended to anymore who wanna have a good taste of locally sourced seafood or someone who loves authentic Chinese cuisine. Thanks Anne, you guys are awesome! Will revisit again once I bring friends or family traveling along GOR again!

Stumbled across this gem when I wanted my Asian food fix and it did not disappoint! I ordered the beef rice noodles and it was delicious. Great portion and was very quick to serve. The food was so good, I came back the next day for some lobster. My friend and I ordered a full lobster with noodles cooked with onions and ginger. Again, we didn’t wait long for it to be cooked and it was very tasty. I will definitely be coming back here.

We waited over 2 hours at a dirty table for our food -- we got take away so luckily didn't be to eat in there. There was a total of 6 orders before ours. I don't understand how they make any money if they make it that slow. They didn't get our order correct after that delay. They are crewl to the live animals kept in the store. It was very very expensive -- $85 for what is pictured.

We were there last week, had dinner there two days in a row. The tasty and hearty spicy fish soup revitalised us from the long day of driving and sightseeing. Kids loved the dumplings, claim to be the best they had. Fish and chips also nice with crispy skin, different from the normal thicker batter, taste amazing. We are sorry to hear the news this morning. Hope you’ll re-open in the near future. It is a restaurant since 1928 after all, must be resilient enough to stay open for almost a century. Good luck and hope we’ll be able to have the lovely meals again next time we are in Apollo Bay!

Dragon Bay Inn Chinese Restaurant is a compact and casual eatery that offers familiar Chinese dishes as well as various Asian options. The dining room provides a friendly and cosy atmosphere for customers to enjoy their meals. With comprehensive menus available for both dining in and take away, patrons are guaranteed to find a quality meal that fits their taste preferences and budget. Great food, we came into apollo bag late in the evening and were just looking for a quick meal. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of service and the taste of the food, the portions were also very generous. So good we came back the next night! We stopped in at Apollo Bay while caravanning around Aus full time and really craved some chinese food. We found this little place on google and gave it a crack. What delicious food it was. Good sized portions and packed with flavour. The service was brilliant and the price was very competitive compared to similar eateries in Apollo Bay.

Very rare to find a restaurant far from the CBD and the busy surrounding suburbs serves amazing and delicious food specially asian cuisines like this place. The menu is huge and smart from the chef prospect as maybe the ingredients are the same in most dishes just the curry taste is different flavours that's why I called it smart. Big plates, fresh and tasty. Friendly staff members - short staffed- but very prompt good effort from all of them even in a busy night. I don't usually make a review but with this experience it urges me to leave a positive review as they really deserve it.
Mina H — Google review
Disappointed with both the service and food. We visited during dinner and waited a long time just to be seated, even though the restaurant was half empty. The staff were inattentive and seemed disinterested. When the food finally arrived, it was bland, oily, and overpriced for what we got. Definitely not worth the $30–40 per dish. We were expecting a better experience given the reviews, but sadly this place did not deliver. Would not recommend.

Best Chinese food in Apollo bay. Huge portions n tasty. They were busy, but still provided good service. Mongolian beef was the best.
Prasanna D — Google review
Best Chinese in Apollo Bay! Located down a side street next to the Foodworks is this busy Chinese restaurant. We had been here once before so we wanted to try it again and yes, it was just as good as the first time! We ordered the Sang Choy Bow, King Prawn Omelette, Honey King Prawns and a Small Fried Rice. We were advised that it would be a little longer than we expected but we totally understood as we could see that they were busy inside the restaurant and also with other take away orders. That said, the time they quoted to us was spot on!! The food itself was really delicious - they were generous with the prawn servings for both the honey dish and the omelette (note: the prawn tails were left on but that was okay by us). Definitely a great place for take away!!
Sharyn — Google review
Best Chinese food by far. We made a quick stop on for some takeaway after a long day on the road, the gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and helpful. We ordered honey chicken, salt and pepper pork, chicken chow mein and a special fried rice. All dishes were super tasty and not oily. Best of all it was a good price Food was ready in 15minutes.
Rach — Google review
Really not sure how this place got 4 stars. Food was extremely average — salty, greasy, and clearly reheated. The fried rice tasted like it came from a microwave, and the “seafood” was mostly frozen squid. Service was rushed and unfriendly, and we were given plastic cups for water in a dine-in setting. Overall, felt like a takeaway pretending to be a restaurant. Not coming back.

Restaurant
The Birdhouse Apollo Bay is a charming eatery located above the renowned Apollo Bay Bakery, offering stunning views of the foreshore. The restaurant has garnered praise for its delectable dishes and warm hospitality. Guests have enjoyed authentic southern Italian flavors in dishes like spaghetti with chorizo and prawn in tomato sauce, as well as quality options such as the Ruben sandwich and Scallop agnolotti with burnt butter.
Great views with delicious food! Located just above the bakery (with the scallop pies), you will find this gorgeous restaurant. We arrived for a very early dinner so we were lucky enough to score a table with an unobstructed view. After going over the full menu (trust me - it was hard to decide!) we went with the Seafood Tagliatelle and the Braised Beef Cheek with Creamy Potato Mash (both from the specials board) to share. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and were absolutely mouth-watering! You really can tell that they source quality produce for their dishes (including actual shaved Parmesan!). The atmosphere matched the relaxing view with great music and their staff provided just the right amount of attention. We truly enjoyed our time here and would definitely visit again!

We have been coming to Apollo bay since 1994. I remember there used be many NICE restaurants. We could not find decent restaurants except this one. I had spaghetti with chorizo and prawn in tomato sauce. To me it was authentic southern Italian taste. Not sure chef knows how good that sauce was? Or just came out great that day? It was delicious. Only - point was that lacking a couple of piece of bread so I can suck all the delicious sauce in the bottom of plate! I will have the same next time we visit them. Great atmosphere up there! Good local beer with frozen glass is a great touch as well. Thank you so much for making great food!

A warm welcome the movement we walked in. Arrived for lunch but wanted to have a few drinks before ordering and this was not o problem. The staff were accommodating to what ever we wanted, not pushing to get a food order in at the same time ensuring we had drinks all the time. It’s nit an extensive menu but I’ll of quality choices. The Ruben sandwich is to die for as well as the Scallop agnolotti with burnt butter even better. Even the fries and aioli very tasty. Highly recommend.

Stopped here for breakfast, located above the Scallop Pie door to the right leading up to a lovely eatery. The lookout is a wonderful view of the sea, atmosphere cozy and friendly. Service great, food equally lovely! Gluten free options available and tasted great :)

Had a corner table by the window so had excellent views from the upstairs restaurant. I enjoyed my rib eye on the bone and the complimentary bread was a nice touch. Wife had the marinated lamb rump. Although vegetables were ordered as a side dish, I always feel that mains should have at least some token vegetables to go with it. We shared the chocolate fondant with ice cream for dessert. Just a few tweaks required to bring it up to a 5 star rating.

Day 4

Proximity is everything
For day 4, we bundled attractions like Beacon Point Ocean View Villas and Skenes Creek Beach and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 6 hours.

Villa
Beacon Point Ocean View Villas offer a serene and comfortable stay in Apollo Bay, with stunning ocean views from the hilltop location. The villas are well-equipped and cozy, featuring fireplaces for chilly weather. Guests can enjoy lovely dinners with perfect ocean views at Chriss restaurant nearby. The central location allows easy access to explore the Great Ocean Road, visit national parks, and enjoy outdoor activities like deep sea fishing adventures.
The location is straightforward, follow the direction provided by the owner. The drive upward might seem bit risky at first as it’s a gravel road with fair amount of steepness. But you will be ok as you will be very careful, and entry and exit is marked properly. Few neon lights on the edge of the road would be great though for night time driving. Now after reaching the villa, you will be welcomed by the out the world view of apollo bay. I don’t think any camera can justify the beauty of it. Inside the villa we have found everything in place and adequate. The owner came to refill when we called to let them know about the shortage of soap, which was very prompt. There is no Wi-Fi, so you will have to depend on your mobile data, and reception is fairly good. You can sit outside to have your meal, while watching koalas and wallabies. The jacuzzi works, and the bathroom/ kitchen has everything you need. Bins are outside with proper marking and instructions. To be honest, I cannot complain about anything, from communication, cleanliness, view, facilities, everything was great! We loved the place.

We used these apartments as a stop off on a road trip of the Great Ocean Road. The apartment themselves were clean and had what you needed but were simple with dated furnishings. The kitchen was adequately equipped for a simple meal or BBQ using the gas BBQ on the patio. We had a comfortable enough nights sleep although the room was very warm due to air con being only in the living room, not the bedroom. Service rating is low because it was pretty much non existent. Check in was self service requiring a telephone number to get the key code for the apartment and little explanation of the layout of the rural site - not ideal for two people from the UK with poor connectivity to Australian mobile signal! The location was the best bit! The view over Apollo Bay and the National Park was stunning with some gorgeous sunsets! And we had a Koala who spent most of the time we were there hanging out in the tree in the carpark outside our apartment!

Beautiful place to stay, came as a solo traveller to get away from the grind in Melbourne. Views are incredible, place is clean and has what you need (pod machine would have been a bonus though…Melbourne entitlement in me 😅) and fireplace is a nice touch! Ash was very friendly on arrival and let me know about the koala hanging outside my room. Will definitely be back.
Miguel M — Google review
Beacon Point Ocean View Villa offers a great ocean view that we thoroughly enjoyed. However, the villa was very cold, and we could only use the split system for heating since the fireplace was off-limits. Additionally, there were too many cleaning rules, making us feel like we should be working as cleaners instead of being guests. Despite these issues, it’s still a beautiful place to stay.
Timmy C — Google review
The view of the sea and the great location on the mountainside speak for themselves. The apartment was large and well equipped with a large terrace, grill, kitchen and washing machine. Everything was very clean. Check-in was contactless using a door code and telephone, the employee on the phone was very friendly and patient with us as we were not very good English speakers.
Reaper R — Google review
From our house we had a great view over part of the Great Ocean Road and the sea. This location is centrally located, so you can easily divide The Great Ocean Road in two, visit Great Otway National Park and the waterfalls in Otway Forest Park. The accommodation has everything you need. Apollo Bay is nearby, making it easy to find a location to have breakfast or dinner outside. We arrived a little later than expected, but nevertheless everything was well arranged and we were able to enter our accommodation without any problems.

Beacon Point Ocean View villa is the place to be, if you want to spend a relaxing holiday in Apollo Bay. We have stayed in this lovely, peaceful accommodation on the hills with sea view for 2nights and we loved this place! Our room is very comfortable and well equipped. Fireplace in the villa is a plus as we were there during the wet weather. The place is quiet and peaceful with beautiful sea view. The property surrounded by the nature, which made it the hidden gem to check out :D we spotted Koalas on the trees and definitely some lovely flowers around the place. Had an amazing time there, highly recommend it!!!!

Skenes Creek Beach is a picturesque and easily accessible beach that offers both left and right breaks, making it ideal for experienced surfers. Families can also enjoy the beach with its rock pooling and ample space for various activities. The beach features stunning honeycomb rock formations and tessellated spots at each end, perfect for exploring. However, caution is advised as there are dangerous rips, and the beach is not patrolled. The creek flowing through the beach provides safer paddling opportunities for children.
There are small rock pools can be found on the left hand side( when facing sea) rock. Lot of shells and rock pool to explore. There is a warning for swimmers about strong currents. Nice sandy beach. Worth visit with kids.

Lovely beach, worth a stop on your travels. Great rocky spots at each end of the beach for exploring rock pools. Very cool honeycomb rock formations and tessellated spots. There are dangerous rips and the beach is not patrolled so not recommended for weaker swimmers or anyone who can't identify rips. The creek meanders through the beach and offers safer paddling opportunities for little nippers.

Beautiful beach to walk the dog, take extra bag's because the locals leave dog shit on the beach, and I was warned by a local to put my dog on a lead because her dog attacks. And then another local dog went to attack my dog when she went to play with another off lead dog, and the owner blamed me.

Housed in buildings that were once used to connect undersea cables to Tasmania, this not-for-profit organization is run by volunteers and showcases a variety of artifacts and photographs from the region's past. Visitors can explore life in the small, isolated community before the construction of the Great Ocean Road in the 1800s.
Great for kids, grownups and anyone who loves a good story. Heaps of great stories and I ran out of energy after 90 min! Would definitely return. The staff are terrific and have all the answers 😍

What a wealth of knowledge and smiles the volunteers have! Doubly impressive given the variety and size of the collection on display. HIGHLY recommended for any avid learner.

Very interesting collection of local history. A trap door lifts up from the floor where the old cable used to be. Pretty exhibition on wedding dresses. Loved the before and after photos of town buildings. Some of the information boards are a bit old but it’s full of good information and well worth a stop.

Ladies running it where very knowledgeable had some interesting stuff in there spent 45 minutes looking at all the different artefacts cost $5 to enter $1 for kids 2 percent more if you use eftpos was very cold in there probably about 5c

Lots a fascinating history. Good balance of the old cable, local area history and the great ocean road history overall. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit and the $5 entry. Do recommend.

Great little museum with a varied collection from shipwrecks to fishing, telegraphs, forestry and the great Ocean road. Only $5 entry, good for a rainy day.

Our paddle out to Little Hentys Reef to see the seals was awesome. The paddle is not too far offshore, and the water is so crystal clear out there. Our guide, Quinn, was fantastic. I highly recommend doing this if you visit Apollo Bay.

My boys had two days of surfing lessons - one with Sean on 9/22 and 9/23 with Luan. Both surfing instructors were very experienced and very passionate with kids. Even though the weathers on both days were not the ideal blue sky days, rainy and cloudy, but we still pushed ahead and my boys really enjoyed themselves. They had fun, started to learn to see the waves they can ride on under both coaches’ instructions, and were able to stand up and rode on waves with more confidence after they concluded their 2 lessons. They had really come to enjoyed the sport! For anyone wants to go surfing at Apollo Bay, just ask Sean, our first day coach and the one who handled our last minute booking so efficiently. If we are to return back for another holiday and go for another lesson, we know who to go back! Highly recommended!!

My husband and son (10yrs) had a fantastic first surfing lesson yesterday morning with two others on Apollo Bay Beach. The instructor, Kajiro (apologies if spelling is wrong!) was brilliant with our son, who was doing well, but got very tired towards the end of the session. He patiently encouraged him to have another go, to end on a high, and afterwards our son said he'd really enjoyed it - and has mentioned it several times since - thank you! My husband probably could have done with a bit more help, but it was hard as all 4 students were pretty spread out. The teacher did well to make sure everyone had his assistance. Both really enjoyed the lesson and we'd recommend you!

We went on a kayaking tour to see the seals, and it was one of the best experiences we've ever done! Sean was so helpful with all our questions about the tour while we were booking, and very communicative all the way through to our tour day so we knew exactly where to go and what to expect. The tour itself was absolutely incredible! We were blessed with great weather on the day, kayaking was so much fun, and it was absolutely amazing to see all the seals in their natural habitat! We were even lucky enough to see some dolphins, and have some seals swim right by us on our kayaks. Sean was super knowledgeable and you can really feel his passion for what he does and the care he has for the local area. You definitely need to give this a try if you're in the area!

Our three kids wanted to try surfing whilst at Apollo Bay so we got in touch with Sean , he was absolutely fantastic. Kept us informed as the weather wasn't great but it all went ahead and he was so friendly and helpful , very encouraging and patient. Tabitha was terrific with my youngest , we watched from the shore as both Sean and Tabitha helped , guided , instructed and cheered when the kids actually managed to catch a wave in ! I would highly recommend Apollo Bay Surf and Kayak ! Thanks for giving our kids such an amazing experience

We had a fantastic experience with Sean and Apollo Bay Surf and Kayak. Sean was a fantastic instructor and helped our teenagers crush some surf like pros. We didn’t expect them to be able to stand up or ride waves in their first lesson ever but with Sean’s help they both managed it multiple times. Sean was patient and encouraging and really helped them feel at ease. The setting was incredible and we got some amazing pictures out of it. 10/10 experience and we recommend these lot to anyone.

I had an amazing surfing lesson with Sean yesterday. He truly loves what he does and you can feel how his enthusiasm is contagious. He gave me very specific and helpful tips and I could actually see real progress within the 90 minutes. It was so much fun, I would definitely recommend trying it out:)

We had an amazing day kayaking with the Seals at Marengo. Sean was knowledgeable, considerate and provided clear guidance. There were loads of seals and we saw a pod of dolphins too. Equipment was provided and in good condition. Highly recommend!

Chris's Beacon Point Restaurant & Villas Accommodation offers a dining experience with a focus on Mediterranean cuisine, particularly seafood and popular Greek dishes. The restaurant features floor-to-ceiling windows that provide stunning ocean views, creating a magical forest-like atmosphere. The wine list showcases regional and Australian wines to complement the menu. While the location is about 15 minutes from Apollo Bay, the scenic views from the rooms make it worth the distance.
We dined at the restaurant and the waiters were so nice. They told us how to get to our place and return to the restaurant since it was so dark outside. The dishes were incredible and the atmosphere was perfect. We had a great time. We are looking forward to visiting the Beacon Point restaurant again!

We didn’t know the area at all and booked a bit blindly, so we had our doubts — but it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise! The room was spacious with fantastic views. The electric blanket was a wonderful touch on our first night, especially since we arrived completely soaked. The bathroom was simple but perfectly fine for a bungalow in the middle of nature, and the water pressure was great — something we really appreciate. We didn’t use the kitchen, but it looked well-equipped. The restaurant was closed (probably due to low season), but breakfast was very good, with beautiful views and kind, helpful staff. It’s a bit sad to hear the place is up for sale — we hope it continues to welcome guests like us!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Beautiful Stay and Dining Experience! I stayed here last night and couldn’t have been more impressed. The food at the restaurant was absolutely amazing — fresh, full of flavour, and really well priced. The setting is unbeatable, with the restaurant overlooking the ocean and offering breathtaking views while you dine. The villas were just as lovely — very cute, clean, and perfectly set up for a relaxing getaway. Waking up to those ocean views was incredible. They’ve just reopened after being closed for renovations for about four months, and the new bar area looks fantastic. You can really see the effort that’s gone into refreshing the place. Overall, it’s the perfect spot for a peaceful coastal escape with great food, friendly service, and stunning views. Highly recommend!

The views are breathtaking with each room/villa facing apollo bay. The room itself had a comfortable bed, a small kitchenette and large clean bathrooms. The rooms tend to be cold in the evenings but there are portable heaters and a bed heater in the room. That said if youre visiting in the colder months, layer up. The breakfast pastries and scones were delicious! Downsides: We visited during winter/spring so the restaurant was closed. We werent informed til the night before which was a shame cause we had booked this place mostly for the restaurant. Ask them beforehand if youre interested in dining. Cleanliness could also be levelled up-there were lots of cobwebs in our room above the dresser and the blinds had brown marks on them.

A restaurant with a beautiful view. We went there on Saturday. Dinner took three hours — we waited two hours for our dishes to be prepared. There were a lot of visitors. If your goal is to enjoy time with friends and admire the stunning ocean views, this place is amazing. But the taste and quality of the food are nothing special

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Breathtaking views! Amazing food and great value Chris’s Beacon Point offers fine dining at pub prices. The service was warm and friendly, and the recent renovation looks fantastic: stylish and welcoming. Highly recommend! I can’t wait to come back.
Ant K — Google review
We came here for dinner on a rainy evening and while the food was fine we found the service a bit off. Admittedly it was busy, but it took 45 mins for cocktails to arrive (along with the first course). Despite phoning ahead to double check it was OK to bring our own wine (against a reasonable corkage), this clearly put at least one nose out of joint. We did our best to make peace by later ordering the most expensive wine on the list but this didn’t seem to cheer anyone up. I even left a 10% tip on a $500 check, (against the advice of my friends), in one final attempt to be courteous but this didn’t seem to work either and we left without any farewell or thanks. We never felt welcome from start to finish. This place apparently just changed hands. We wish the new owners and staff well - a warm smile and a softer touch may help you along your way.

Wow! This place is next level amazing. The views from our room were breathtaking. We stayed in the king studio. We ate at the restaurant, where the food and the service were 5*. The staff were so friendly and attentive, it really added to the whole night. Breakfast the next morning (included in our stay price), was filling and delicious. 10/10 recommend. You will not be disappointed.

Pit Stop Bros is an innovative hospitality group hailing from Australia, renowned for its exceptional food and drink venues across Victoria. Since 2010, they have been transforming the Australian hawker food scene, setting new standards in the industry. Their establishments are celebrated not just locally but also on a global scale, as they continue to elevate service excellence in popular tourist spots. During my recent adventure along the Great Ocean Road, I stumbled upon Pit Stop Bros near Apollo Bay Foreshore.
Came here again! It's my go to whenever I'm in Apollo Bay! The food is absolutely delicious! The burgers are juicy and flavoursome! The chips are crunchy and crispy! I didn't eat in, but have in the past, and the vibe is great! Music is on point from the jukebox! Definitely go and eat there when you are in the area!!

Stopped here for lunch during our great ocean road trip to see 12 apostles. The burger was juicy and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and crunchy .the sauce they put on it was delicious as well. Service was quick and friendly. Before you know it the line was out the door. The bathroom was like a superhero movie.

I was gonna rate this harshly but my sympathy and hospitality experience pulled through. Came here Monday morning at 11:06am, and my Asian bradda just raw dogging the shift on his own (Co worker called sick) He did so well on is own and should be proud of himself to serve 5 different orders (hungry and impatient people) as quick as possible! I got the chicken wings and it was massive! Night shift staff need to do better job cleaning, bathroom was nasty

If Tarantino and Spielberg opened a retro diner together, The Pit Stop would be it. The burgers? Juicy enough to qualify for their own movie deal. The chocolate milkshake? So good it deserves a sequel. And the staff? Cooler than Travolta in a convertible. Classic Hollywood vibes, top-tier grub, and customer service that makes you feel like a VIP extra in a feel-good flick. Come for the milkshake, stay for the nostalgia. 5 stars – would refuel here again!

Great spot for a classic American-style burger and fries. We ordered the classic burger with a side of pickles.. unfortunately, the pickles were missed, but it didn’t take away from the meal. The burger was juicy and satisfying, just what you'd expect. Would happily come back.

If you’re down the coast and want a great outlook and some absolutely stunning classic retro American burgers and incredible onion rings this is THE place. Not too expensive and has by far the best atmosphere in Apollo Bay.
