National park
Nature & Parks
Sanjay Gandhi National Park, formerly known as Borivali National Park, is a sprawling forested park located in Mumbai. It is one of the largest and most popular nature reserves in India. The park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including tigers and leopards. Visitors can explore the ancient Kanheri Caves within the park, which are Buddhist cave temples dating back to the first century BC.
Sanjay Gandhi National Park Visit We started 2025 with a trip to Sanjay Gandhi National Park on 1st January. The park opens at 8 AM, and although the ticket queue was long, it was worth the wait. Entry tickets were ₹110 per person, with car parking charged at ₹50 per hour. We walked about 7 km, taking in the serene beauty of this lush green haven in the heart of Mumbai. The experience was delightful, with scenic mountains, dense trees, playful monkeys, and deer adding to the charm. The butterfly garden was another highlight, with pretty butterflies fluttering all around. The tiger safari, bus fair at ₹136 per person, was an incredible adventure where we spotted tigers, cubs, and a lioness. Unfortunately, we missed the toy train ride as the lanes are currently under redevelopment, but we’ll be back to try it on our next visit. With so much left to explore, it’s clear the park can’t be fully covered in a single day. We’re already planning a revisit to experience more of this incredible destination. Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a perfect weekend escape, offering a blend of nature and adventure. A must-visit for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with the outdoors!

Reviews need detailing as on reaching park we were guided by the personnel there to visit the amazing sites. 1.Entry in the national park Ticket-₹103 2.Services to kanheri caves the biggest attraction of the site Bus- ₹50 both ways per person. Van- ₹1350 both ways for the group. Bus of BEST - ₹20 from each side per person. There are buggy's also which take u to safari ticket counter not to kanheri so make your decision wisely.Ticket- ₹50 per person one way. And the visiting ticket to kanheri cave-₹25 /person. Total 109 caves worth seeing marvellous views especially in monsoon season. Then comes Lion safari- 2 km from main entrance,Ticket -₹ 136 per person. Bus will take you around for safari in which you will see lions, lioness, tigers and yes with full precautions. Museums can also be your choice but the adventure doing things I have already mentioned. To my view go to kanheri caves first as it is 7km away from main entrance and then enjoy the other things. I bet you will not regret only take a local to borivali station and 1.4 km away there u are SANJAY GANDHI NATIONAL PARK.

Sanjay Gandhi National Park is honestly one of my favorite places to take a break from Mumbai’s chaos. The moment you enter, it feels like you’ve stepped into another world — peaceful, green, and full of life. It’s hard to believe something this calm exists within the city. I visited early in the morning, and the air was fresh and cool. Walking through the forest trails with birds chirping all around was such a refreshing experience. I also rented a cycle and explored the park a bit deeper — totally worth it if you enjoy riding through nature. One of the highlights for me was the Kanheri Caves. Climbing up to the caves, with all the ancient carvings and the view of the forest from the top, felt like stepping into history. It’s both peaceful and awe-inspiring. What I love most about the park is how it balances natural beauty with easy access. Whether you're into trekking, cycling, photography, or just sitting quietly among trees, this place has something for everyone. I left feeling lighter, calmer, and a little more connected to nature. Highly recommend spending a few hours here — especially if you live in Mumbai and just need to breathe.

Upgraded the national park significantly. Last time I visited vehicles were allowed inside, but now none are allowed and the experience is much better with free roads to walk on, and less noise, pollution and more closer to nature Rental Cycles The shop is right after the gate, on the right hand side. The rental starts at 8am in the morning and is rented out pretty quickly. I went on Sunday and the rental cycles were rented out by 8:30am. The cost is very cheap (80 rs for 2 hours, and then 20 rs per 30 mins) as compared to rental outside the national park (300 for 4 hours minimum, and then 60-100 per hour) You also need to pay a higher ticket price if you bring outside cycles

Nestled within the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai, India, the Kanheri Caves are a remarkable testament to ancient Buddhist architecture and art. Carved by monks over 2,000 years ago, these 109 caves feature rock-hewn temples adorned with intricate sculptures, paintings of Buddha, and inscriptions dating from the 1st century BCE to the 10th century AD.
Kanheri Caves, situated at Borivali. The Caves carved from solid rocks, in the era 2nd BC to 11th BC. Somewhere when Samrat Ashoka wanted to spread the Buddhist Religion. There are 102 Caves situated at various levels. The Budh Stupas which are a common in Buddhist are seen at various levels. Once upon a time it was free to Public, but now they have started with entrance tickets. INR 103/- per person. For Senior Citizens the price is kept the same. A yearly pass for Senior Citizens is available only from Tuesdays to Fridays @ INR 41/-. The pass must be available on Sundays too. The ticket window opens at 8.00 a.m. only. They should make arrangements to start earliest by 7.00 a.m. Public can start by 7.00 a.m. and by the time Sun starts spreading its heat, people can start returning. The carvings are beautiful, it is difficult to understand how in those days people must have carved in the Rock? Drainage system, fresh water pockets all well thought and seen. The famous Buddhist Stupas are seen at various Caves. Few Caves are situated at an elevated levels. Sculptures are marvelous but few are damaged mat be by the Invaders in those times. Security is stationed at all levels. WashRoom facility is available. Even Canteen facility is available, picnic tables are layed for people to enjoy there breakfast or snacks. One should be careful of the Monkeys, they are spread in all the areas. It is mind boggling to see such architectural beauty of those times when proper instruments erre not available but still people have worked and have made such wonders. One has to see it physically to experience this fact. At each Cave an inscription is displayed, explaining the details of that particular Cave. Archeological Society has constructed few steps with railings for people to climb up the levels.

Visited: November 2024 I'm an explorer who loves to visit historical and archaeological places, and Kanheri Caves was a real treat! Took a train to Borivali and then a shared auto for ₹25 to reach Sanjay Gandhi National Park. From there, I took the ₹20 shuttle bus that takes you straight to the caves. It’s amazing how such a peaceful and serene spot exists in the middle of Mumbai! The caves are well-maintained, and the history here is incredible. I was astonished by the big standing Buddha statue—it’s both impressive and calming. The ancient water management system carved into the stone is fascinating—stone channels and cisterns designed to collect and guide rainwater. It’s amazing how advanced the architecture was for its time. The ancient monk cells were another highlight—small, carved-out rooms where monks once lived and meditated. Walking through them, you really feel the quiet, spiritual atmosphere of the place. It’s like stepping back into a different time. I spent about 3 hours exploring every cave—be prepared for a lot of walking and stairs. Carry plenty of water, wear comfortable shoes, and take your time to appreciate the surroundings. There are plenty of shaded spots to rest, which definitely helps. A big thanks to the security guards—one of them saved me from an aggressive monkey and handed me his stick for protection. Beware of monkeys if you’re carrying food—they’re quick! Tip: Go early to avoid the heat, keep your food sealed, and enjoy the peaceful vibe of this historical escape. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful place to visit. From entrance you have to take government bus which is chargeable to reach the cave. A full day is required to understand each and every cave in detail. The security guards help us voluntarily in explaining the sculptures. Restroom and refreshment is available at the location.

This place is perfect for all the nature and adventure lovers. You can visit with anybody who is physically fit I reached here by cycle (you can take cycle on rent from outside of SGNP) Per hour rent is 150-200 or can take your own cycle While reaching kanheri we had experience lake & river, it was really good experience Once you reach to kanheri you have to go by walk to top of caves where you can see Beauty of national park & Historical monuments of indian culture There are some local vendors overthere where you can eat & drink Approx spend time is 5-6 hour From SGNP you can take Bus, Cycle or by walk Best time to visit - june - september (specially on rainy days)

The caves are very cool, and it's a great hiking spot. The only downside is the amount of trash dumped, which is really a shame for such a beautiful place.
Taksheel — Google review
It's a great day trip. Full of ancient caves carved more than 2000 years ago by Buddhist monks. The way to reach has also been well designed along with the convenience of the bust taking you up to the caves from the National park entrance. The tickets are reasonably priced. Additionally there is the tiger safari, park, boating etc. which you could do if you have time. Do carry water and some little eatables as the trek is a bit long and definitely not for elders or very small children.
Atin R — Google review
It is located inside National Park. This is a good place to visit along with family and friends. Been here a few times. Busses are available to reach the Kanheri Caves from the entry gate of National Park. The caves are considered to be one of the oldest caves of ancient times. There are 109 caves of historical relevance. If you wanna go explore the beauty of nature or go trekking, this is just one of the many places you would not want to miss. It is a good place to visit during monsoons, especially if it rains. Beware of the monkeys!
Noel N — Google review
The caves are located in Sanjay Gandhi national park. We accessed the caves via the entrance to the national park. There are bus/ cab services and one can also take their own vehicles. There are various fees applicable, one to entrance of the national park, bus fees and finally the entrance to the cave. The cave are spread over a large area and one can spend easily a day. It can get hot in the day but plenty of places to rest. You need to carry your own water and refreshments on the trail. It has a staircase and place for wheelchair path as well. But limited. You don't need a lot of fitness for the trail. Yes the caves require you to walk, but very beautiful. It is strange that in centre of city, they exist and are safe. Try not to litter the place. Ask for a guide if you wish , or the guards usually at nominal fee, give tips

I went to this location after a year. Roads are congested. I went to the residential complex behind the Mall. Jagannath was a good waiter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent Service and Great Food Recommendations! We had a fantastic dining experience, thanks in large part to our waiter. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and quick with service, which made the entire meal smooth and enjoyable. What really stood out were his food suggestions — every recommendation was spot-on and truly enhanced our experience. It's always great to have someone so knowledgeable and helpful guiding you through the menu. Highly recommend this place, especially if you're lucky enough to be served by them!

The food is simple but tasty. Good options if you are looking for a lighter meal especially. They also serve the food from Urban Tadka, in case someone is looking for a broader menu with North Indian options. The atmosphere is nice but usually noisy/cheerful. The service is reasonably fast. Overall, a good option if you are looking to spend time with friends or family, with decent food and drinking options.

Nice place to hangout with friends & family. Good food & drink options. They do have a kids menu as well. Dim lights, high background music & retro theme gives a different vibe. Since they have merged space of Urban tadka, you may use that menu as well. The servers appeared discriminating after knowing we had booked through Zomato. They should unlist from Zomato if they have a problem with it instead of passing ill feelings to customers.

North Indian restaurant
Urban Tadka R Mall Mulund is a delightful culinary destination that promises an authentic taste of North Indian cuisine and biryani. Nestled in the vibrant R Mall, this restaurant exudes a charming Dhaba-style ambiance, making it perfect for food lovers seeking comfort and flavor. The menu boasts popular dishes like Nimbu Chicken, Paneer Tikka, and Tomato Shorba, alongside sweet treats such as Jalebi with Rabri.
good food. fast service. was about crowded but they still managed to serve the food on time.

I went to Urban Tadka after a very long time and upsetting to see they have discontinued sirke wale pyaaz. The good was decent, not mouth watering like before. The best part of the dinner was mutton kheema biryani. The service was quick, the problem was service charge which was ₹64 and if we ask to remove it they start pleading which I feel is unfair.
Mansi C — Google review
If you are looking for North Indian cuisine veg and non-veg then this is your place. Frankly they have a much better spread for non-vegetarians. The veg menu is mostly paneer offered in different guises. No thank you at least for me. Even the starters spread is inclined more towards non- vegetarians. That’s not exactly a bad thing just that if vegetarian is your preference you might gut have much better options. The stuffed tandoori potato is delicious and I insist you try. I haven’t tried a wider spread from their menu so the 4 stars. And yes they serve alcohol just so you know. And they insist you pay service charge. I was under the impression it’s at the customer’s discretion but out here - it’s not. You have to pay - period and that ticked me off…Frankly it’s not one of those restaurants I would go out of my way for….

❌ Urban Tadka – Mulund West: Inconsistent Food, Disappointing Execution Visited Urban Tadka in Mulund West expecting a rich North Indian dining experience, but sadly, the evening was filled with more misses than hits. The vibe and branding promise a lot—but the food didn’t live up to it. ⸻ 🍗 Happy Chicken Tikka – Underdone & Flat The chicken was quite raw inside, with spices that felt slapped on rather than blended in. Texture was off and flavor didn’t settle. Disappointing, especially for something that’s supposed to be a highlight. ⸻ 🐟 Fish Tikka – The Only Redeemer This was the best dish of the evening. Perfectly cooked, well spiced, flaky and hot. If only the rest of the meal had matched this level. ⸻ 🌶️ Garlic Chutney – Always Great Still one of their strengths—bold, spicy, and garlicky. Goes well with almost anything. ⸻ 🫓 Masala Papad – Shockingly Bad I’ve had good masala papad here in the past, but this time it was very poorly done—soggy in parts, unevenly topped, and clearly rushed. It was a huge letdown, especially for such a simple dish. ⸻ 🍷 Sangria – Just Syrupy Sweetness This wasn’t sangria—it tasted like fruit syrup mixed with soda. No wine flavour, no balance, and way too sweet. It felt like a mocktail trying to pass as something it’s not. ⸻ 🍮 Jalebi & Rabadi – Uneven Again • Rabadi: Thick, creamy, and well-made. A small win at the end of the meal. • Jalebi: Absolutely terrible. Not only was it soggy and bland, but it had a strong chemical smell—almost like bleach, which was shocking and off-putting. ⸻ 💬 Final Thoughts Urban Tadka Mulund is clearly struggling with quality control. From raw chicken and bad jalebi to sloppy basics like masala papad, this meal felt rushed and careless. The fish tikka, garlic chutney, and rabadi were the only saving graces. ⸻ ❌ Final Verdict Not worth the hype or the price. When half the items are badly executed—and one smells like cleaning fluid—it’s a red flag. Urban Tadka needs to seriously rework their kitchen consistency if they want to live up to their name. Would not return in a hurry. 🍗👎🍮🥴

This outlet has been in business for almost 20 years and I believe there has been a change in management. The service levels have definitely compared to what it was earlier but it is still good. The theme earlier was more around Family-based with mainly Punjabi cuisine. Now they have removed the partition between Pop Tates and Urban Tadka which has made it a nosier place making it difficult to have conversations. The service staff was excellent earlier and although that too has seen a bit of a drop but is still very good. The menu has a lot of options for veg as well as non-veg. They have more than one big screen tv sets to screen sports matches. There is ample parking in the mall.

Coriander Kitchen and Bar

4.2
(515)
North Indian restaurant
Coriander Kitchen and Bar is a delightful culinary destination that promises an exceptional dining experience. As you enter, the inviting ambiance immediately captivates your senses, setting the stage for a memorable meal. The menu boasts an impressive array of dishes, showcasing flavors from various cuisines including North Indian and Asian delights. Standout offerings like the Mangalore-style prawns roast are sure to tantalize your taste buds, while other favorites such as chicken roast and neer dosa also shine in both flavor and presentation.
The food here is just awesome. Both vegetarian and non vegetarian options are available. Starters are one of best things to enjoy. The interior is very pleasant and soothing.

The ambience is good, and food tastes pretty well. But I was not impressed by the portion size for the price they charge. But if you don't mind to compromise on that, then you're taste buds won't be disappointed.

Coriander Kitchen and Bar offers a delightful dining experience with its diverse menu and stylish ambiance. The restaurant impresses with its flavorful dishes, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere. From traditional favorites to innovative culinary creations, there's something to please every palate. The bar selection is also commendable, offering a variety of cocktails and beverages to complement the meal. Overall, Coriander Kitchen and Bar is a great choice for a memorable dining experience.

Had recently booked coriander for an outdoor catering requirement. We had a party with 35 guests and we needed end to end catering service where we didn't need to bother about service or food. They managed it extremely well. The food standard met my expectation. We had a mix menu of veg and non-veg and both were equally delicious. Both starters and main course were served hot and fresh. They served mocktails for all guests and while we had our own alcohol they helped us with the service. The desserts were also really good. They sent multiple waiters and the owners visited themselves to check everything, so we didn't have to worry about service at all. Really happy with their food and service and highly recommend it.
