Saputara in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Saputara, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Saputara is Gujarat’s only hill station, set in the forested Sahyadri (Western Ghats) near the Maharashtra border, offering a cooler climate than the surrounding plains. Visitors come for lakefront boating, cable-car rides with valley views, and nearby viewpoints such as Sunset Point and Table Point. The area also provides access to attractions like Gira Waterfalls (seasonal) and trekking routes in the Dang forest region. Tribal culture is a key feature, with local museums, handicraft centers, and festivals showcasing the traditions of the indigenous communities.
With favorites like Hotel Purohit, Gira Waterfalls, and Sunrise Point, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Blue Coriander - The Restaurant and Sugar 'N Spice - Saputara so you can get the best taste of Saputara while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Hill station
Park
Saputara Hill station, which translates to "Adobe of Serpent," is nestled in the heart of Dangs district on the second-highest plateau of the Sahyadri range. This planned hill resort offers a cool climate and stunning views of the verdant valley. The area is popular for hiking, paragliding, and lake boating, with attractions like a ropeway and several gardens.
Saputara is one of the best hill stations to visit during the monsoon. The lush greenery and misty weather create a magical atmosphere. Clouds touch the hills, offering breathtaking scenic views. The road journey is smooth and filled with beautiful landscapes. Boating at Saputara Lake during rain is a peaceful experience. Table Point is perfect to spend hours enjoying nature. Plenty of local food stalls offer tasty snacks and tea. The cool breeze and fresh air refresh both body and mind. Photographers will love capturing the foggy and green surroundings. Overall, it was the best monsoon trip I’ve ever experienced.

Just completed a fantastic bike trip to Saputara this monsoon, and it was an unforgettable experience. The ride itself is a treat, with scenic, well-maintained roads and thrilling turns. As you ascend, the weather changes beautifully, and the entire landscape turns a stunning, vibrant green. The hill station during this time is absolutely magical. The fog rolls in and out, creating a mystical atmosphere, and the waterfalls are at their roaring best. We visited the Artist Village and enjoyed the boating on the lake. While it can get crowded on weekends, the natural beauty more than makes up for it. A perfect spot for a refreshing break and an ideal destination for a monsoon bike trip.

Saputara, Gujarat's only hill station, is generally well-regarded for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and those seeking a relaxing getaway. Visitors often praise the cool climate, especially during the monsoon season, and the scenic views, particularly around Saputara Lake. The lake is a central attraction, offering boating and a pleasant atmosphere. While some find the town small, it's considered well-planned with amenities like hotels, gardens, and recreational activities.

Beautiful Journey & Scenic Destination I recently visited Saputara on my bike during the rainy season, and the entire experience was amazing! The ride itself (approx. 105 km from my home) was incredibly scenic — light rain, smooth roads, lush green mountains on one side, and a flowing river on the other. The route has sharp U-turns and hilly inclines/declines, making it adventurous and thrilling. Saputara is a peaceful hill station with a lot to offer — I enjoyed boating in the lake, visited the Table Top Point for panoramic views, and ended the day at Sunset Point, which was absolutely stunning. Activities like ropeway rides, paragliding, boating, and sunrise/sunset points are worth exploring. Tip: Be cautious of wild animals like leopards, especially during early mornings or late evenings. Please don’t feed them — it can be dangerous for both you and the animals. Overall, a memorable trip. Honestly, I enjoyed the journey as much as (if not more than) the destination itself!

I had the best experience here. Must visit place especially in monsoons. The lush green hills of saputara will keep you mesmerized. The views are exhilarating and the locals are very good. Nice place for one day picnic with family and friends. Boating, paragliding and ropeway activities are there. We loved the scenery and it was absolutely worth the time.

This is the only hill station of Gujarat. It is a small one nd not much to do here. Best time to visit this place is Monsoon. Good for a stay of a day or two with family or friends. Roads are very good so easy to reach there. Gira Falls in the outskirts is a must visit place.
Kalpesh S — Google review
Saputara Hill Station has good natural surroundings and cool weather, but the place feels very commercialized. It was overcrowded during my visit, and almost everything—food, activities, parking—was on the expensive side. Cleanliness and maintenance could be much better, as the beauty of the hills gets overshadowed by too much rush and high costs. It’s worth a short visit for the scenery, but don’t expect a calm or budget-friendly hill station experience.

Sunrise Point, also known as Valley Viewpoint, is a popular high-altitude observation point located in Saputara, Gujarat. It offers stunning panoramic views of the green valleys and is especially renowned for its breathtaking sunrise vistas. Although it's named Sunrise Point, visitors can enjoy the picturesque scenery at any time of day. The Tata Consultancy Services has proposed renaming it to Valley View Point to attract more tourists. To reach this vantage point, visitors can take a 1.
Worth the early waking up! It looked phenomenal. I love watching sunrise but watching it from above with such beautiful weather was worth the shot! It must be a one time experience for everyone. It's THAT good.
Tijil B — Google review
Sunrise Point in Saputara, Gujarat, is a well-maintained spot that offers a peaceful and scenic setting to start your day. The approach to the top is easy, and once you reach, you’ll find plenty of open space for visitors to settle in and enjoy the view. It’s designed in a way that allows multiple vantage points, so even if it’s a busy day, you can still find your own comfortable spot to watch the sunrise. From the top, the view is truly awesome, with the rolling hills and valleys stretching out into the distance. I visited during the monsoon season, so the surrounding landscape was hidden behind clouds, and the actual sunrise view was mostly missed. However, the misty atmosphere had its own charm, lending a dreamy feel to the place and making the visit memorable in a different way. I can imagine that during winter, when the skies are clear, the sight from Sunrise Point would be absolutely mind-blowing. Watching the first rays of the sun paint the hills in golden light must be an experience worth waking up early for. With its good maintenance, ample space, and breathtaking potential, Sunrise Point is a must-visit for anyone exploring Saputara.

It is best to travel during the monsoon season. The view below is amazing because of the height.
Tahirhusen P — Google review
If you're an early riser in Saputara, the Sunrise Point is an absolute must-visit that promises to be a highlight of your trip. Perched high atop one of the surrounding mountains, this viewpoint offers genuinely breathtaking panoramic views that truly come alive as dawn breaks. The effort of waking up early is immediately rewarded. As the first rays of light kiss the horizon, the sky transforms into a vibrant canvas of fiery oranges, soft pinks, and deep purples. The view from the top is simply spectacular, stretching across the lush green Dangs valley, often draped in a mystical morning mist that slowly dissipates as the sun climbs higher. It's a profoundly serene and magical experience that makes you feel deeply connected to nature. Pro-Tip: Make sure to check the exact sunrise time and aim to arrive at least 30-45 minutes beforehand. This will give you ample time to find a good spot, set up your camera (you'll definitely want one!), and witness the subtle, beautiful changes in the sky before the sun fully emerges. It can get a bit chilly up top, especially before the sun makes its appearance, so carrying a light jacket or shawl is advisable. The path up to the viewpoint is generally accessible and makes for a pleasant pre-dawn walk. Overall, Saputara's Sunrise Point is more than just a viewpoint; it's an experience that rejuvenates the soul. For anyone visiting Saputara, prioritizing this spot for at least one morning is highly recommended – it's truly unforgettable.

A Must-Visit Hub for Views, Activities, and Sunsets This vast, flat plateau is the bustling heart of Saputara and a prime spot for visitors. True to its name, "Table Point" is a large, level hilltop offering stunning panoramic views of the entire Saputara valley, the lake, and the surrounding Sahyadri hills. It's most famous as the main activity center in the hill station. This is the place to come for: Ropeway (Cable Car): The primary attraction. The ropeway connects Table Point to Sunset Point (Gandhi Shikhar) on the opposite hill, offering a thrilling ride with breathtaking aerial views of the valley and lake. Sunset Views: While the ropeway goes to Sunset Point, Table Point itself offers magnificent, unobstructed views of the setting sun, painting the sky in vibrant colors. Activities Galore: The large open space is filled with activities, especially for families. You'll find numerous vendors offering horse riding, camel rides, and small bike/ATV rides for kids. Local Snacks: Dotted with small food stalls, this is a great place to try local snacks like roasted corn (bhutta), peanuts, and hot tea, especially in the cool evening air. Visitor Tips: Best Time to Visit: Plan your visit for the late afternoon (around 4:00 PM onwards). This allows you to enjoy the activities and then settle in to watch the spectacular sunset. Getting There: You can reach the top via a winding road (parking is available) or take the ropeway from the valley up to Table Point (check for the "Townview Point" ropeway). Crowds: Be prepared for crowds, especially during peak season and on weekends. The atmosphere is lively and festive, but it's not a quiet, isolated viewpoint. Verdict: If you're in Saputara, you simply can't miss Table Point. It's the quintessential hill station experience, blending stunning natural beauty with fun activities for the whole family.

This is the top point of the Saputara, from the above you able to see the beautiful scenery of Saputara. There are many exciting ride also present there like paragliding which is approx 2500rs(per person) really value for money, zip line which is approx 500rs per person (with camera), rope ways currently it's in maintainence, rented bike get around 200rs, etc. Above the point many small hotels also present, So no worry about food. I mostly preferable to go this place in monsoon, the greenery and the scene are very beautiful.

One of the highlights & main attraction of Saputara, it's highest accessible point via vehicle. Where tourist can enjoy host of different activities like horse riding, mini bike ride, paragliding and so on. Paid parking is available, the place is not at all well maintained is filled with animal litter and plastic garbage which uneducated people leave behind, a scene spot ruined by local mismanagement & filth. Overpriced food items are for sale at the food court. The location has good views but clutter & noise is a sour experience.

Table Land in Saputara, Gujarat, offers an awesome panoramic view from the top, making it one of the most iconic spots in the hill station. The vast open plateau provides a perfect vantage point to admire the surrounding valleys and hills, with plenty of space to walk around and soak in the scenery. It’s a place where the beauty of Saputara unfolds in all directions. One of the most striking sights from Table Land is the Governor Hill Trail, which looks absolutely stunning from above. The green slopes, winding paths, and expansive horizon create a picture-perfect view that leaves a lasting impression. Even if you’re not into photography, the natural charm here is sure to captivate you. I visited during the monsoon, and the experience was magical. Clouds drifted all over the top, the temperature was chilling, and it felt as if winter had arrived in the rainy season. The misty weather, combined with the cool breeze, made it my favorite spot in Saputara during monsoon. It’s a must-visit if you enjoy that refreshing, foggy mountain atmosphere. Beyond its scenic beauty, Table Land is also a hub for adventure and fun. You’ll find plenty of activities like paragliding, zip lining, horse riding, camel riding, and several options for kids. However, remember to plan your visit at the right time, as this is the most crowded place in Saputara and can get quite busy during peak hour

As the name suggests, it is point to witness the beautiful moment of sun setting down. The shades of different colours appearing on the sky is mesmerizing. Also the aerial view of lake and the town visible from this point is awesome. There are two ways to reach the sunset point, one is through ropeway (which starts from Table point) and other one is by climbing up on the hill. It is almost close to 1 km strenuous climb, the vehicles are not allowed except for the bikes which are provided by the locals on chargeable basis (they charge Rs 100 one way). There are few stalls where water and food are available. For children, there are few recreational stuff such as RC cars, horse rides, etc. There is no entry charge if one decides to climb up while travel through ropeway is chargeable. It is located on height and we can only go by a walk by hiking on the hill. It will take some time. The view is amazing from there.

Waterfalls
Gira Waterfalls is a stunning natural wonder located in Gujarat's hill station. This picturesque waterfall is most active during monsoon season, with a large flow of water that attracts visitors from all over. However, it is advisable to visit after monsoon season, preferably in October when the rain has subsided and the waterfall can be enjoyed fully. The area also boasts a shopping market where visitors can purchase unique local crafts and artifacts made of wood.
Gira Waterfalls is a gem in Dang region, dramatic during monsoons, serene post‑rain, and surrounded by verdant hills. It’s ideal for a nature getaway, family picnic, or photography trip. Just pack comfy shoes, timing awareness, and a mindset open to simple rural charm. Don’t forget your camera and maybe take home a handcrafted bamboo souvenir.
Nilkanth D — Google review
I visited Gira Dhodh Waterfall again in 2025 on a weekend with my family. The place is always beautiful, but this time the water flow was less compared to my visit in 2024, when it was truly majestic and full of force. Since I went on a weekend, the crowd was quite heavy, which is common at such popular spots. The overall experience was still enjoyable. Around the waterfall area, there are many small stalls and shops selling souvenirs, handicrafts, and local gift items, which add to the charm of the visit. There is also a restaurant and stay facility nearby. The food was fine, but the rooms were not very impressive – okay for a short stay but not something to expect high comfort from. In short, Gira Dhodh is a nice place for a family outing or nature trip, especially during monsoon when the waterfall is at its best. If you want to enjoy it with fewer crowds, visiting on a weekday would be a better choice.

Giradodh Waterfall is a wonderful place to visit, especially during the monsoon season when nature is at its best 🌧️. The experience begins right from the parking area — you have to leave your vehicle outside and walk inside to reach the waterfall. This short walk through the greenery feels peaceful and refreshing, with the sound of birds and flowing water growing louder as you approach 🌿. It’s a simple yet beautiful experience that lets you disconnect from the usual noise of city life and step into pure calmness surrounded by lush forest and fresh air. When you finally reach the waterfall, the view is breathtaking 💦. The water gushes down powerfully, creating a cool mist all around, and the whole area looks alive with greenery and natural beauty 🌈. The atmosphere is quiet and soothing, perfect for nature lovers, photographers, or anyone looking for a peaceful escape. Parking outside and walking in actually makes the place cleaner and more preserved, which is a really good idea. Giradodh Waterfall is truly worth visiting — a hidden gem that feels magical in the monsoon and leaves you refreshed every time.

Breathtaking view of the waterfall!Add it in your saputara itinerary for sure. Very vast in width..you can park car and there will be some walking distance to the fall...in between there are many shops which sells bamboo handicrafts and other decorative items.

Beautiful Waterfall specially During Monsoon. You need to walk for 3 to 5 minutes from parking place to see this. Looks sunning from a distance and panoramic view is awesome. Approach road is narrow and Parking is a issue on crowded day. So take care of these situations during monsoon weekends.

Visited this place when we were in Saputara and we were thoroughly impressed! The food was delicious, ambience was warm and inviting, making it perfect for a cozy celebration of my 2 year old son. What truly made the experience unforgettable was their thoughtful gesture — they surprised us with cake and chocolates without us even asking! It was such a sweet and personal touch that made the evening feel extra special. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food, lovely atmosphere, and amazing hospitality in Saputara!

If you're in Saputara and searching for a vegetarian restaurant, Sugar 'N Spice is an excellent choice. The place is clean and the service is commendable. The taste of their food is above average. Additionally, this restaurant offers a variety of cuisines including Indian, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Fast food, and Asian. They also cater to Jain food preferences along with Lake View Restaurant being another notable vegetarian option. The quality of food served here is outstanding along with a friendly staff.
_5/5 Stars_ "I recently visited Sugar and Spice and was thoroughly impressed! This pure vegetarian restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. Ambiance: Immaculate, neat, and well-maintained. Service: Courteous, attentive, and exceptional staff. Food: Outstanding quality, bursting with flavor and freshness. The menu offered a wide variety of options to suit every taste. Overall, I highly recommend Sugar and Spice for: - Pure vegetarian options - Immaculate cleanliness - Friendly and attentive staff - Excellent food quality Rating Breakdown: - Food: 5/5 - Service: 5/5 - Ambiance: 5/5 - Value: 4.5/5 (only because it's a bit expensive) A must-visit for vegetarians and foodies! I'll definitely return.

Food was tasty, they allowed to sit long hours as our bus time was late night. Good hygiene, good taste ans excellent services. Variety of food option available. Best restaurant in Saputara.
Milap G — Google review
I was there for lunch and ordered Raj Kachori masala papad and lassi. Raj kachori here is the worst I have had so far and offcourse paid Rs.180/- for it. Masala papad was all about Papad with tomato and cucumber on it. Atmosphere is noisy. Food is not upto the mark compared to the prices they are charging. Need improvement in food making, a lot actually. Service from staff was okay.

I want to give 0 star rating coz very bad food all Food serve with same gravy and my personal opinion that don’t go and don’t eat food it’s not sugar n spice taste that you want and when you complain they excuse you return my fault is that i ordered all food in one time and waste my money as a proof even butter milk is also very loded with crush ice

Very bad experience. Bisleri water was duplicate. Sambhar war tasteless, just like warm water. On complaint told by staff that he forgot to stir the sambhar. Overall very bad experience 😡
Mahesh A — Google review
Food quality was not good. All starters we ordered were not upto the taste and quantity was also too less for the price there. Just ambience doesn't qualify for the quality and price of food here.

Hotel
Hotel Purohit is a recommended destination for a traditional Gujarati thali. While the establishment may lack in ambiance and presentation, the cuisine is delicious and satisfying. The desserts are particularly well-crafted. Pricing stands at 250 rupees for adults and 150 rupees for children. Recent visitors have praised the tasty and nutritious food, urging others to try it out. Overall, Hotel Purohit offers an excellent culinary experience with attentive service that should not be missed when visiting Saputara.
The best hotel I've come across so far. The owner is really good & caring. The best part is they allowed my pet cat to stay there too. This hotel is run by an elderly couple. They're really sweet & humble. The rooms were really clean & at affordable price. Food was awesome. My overall experience was really great. I'll suggest you all to please visit this place once. You'll have a heartwarming experience.

Average food , no variety of food, no ambiance, bad service , not worthy for money They also insisted to pay only in cash as no bills are delivered. Strictly illegal and looting government by taking restaurants payments in cash mode, so they do not need to pay taxes to government. This is surprisingly happening at famous tourist point, also making inconvenience to tourists like us, who need to go and look for ATM for cash, where as every other small shops are accepting GPAY.
Pramila G — Google review
Third class food.Manager is blunt and rough person.Dirty cloths waiters.Rice was shortened.Additional sugar in Daal,Kadhi, not recommended for diabitic person Better stay in TORAN FOOD AND AMBIENCE SUPERB

Best Gujarati Thali in Saputara, superb taste and good service. All the items in thali are very tasty. Have been a old time fan of Gujrati daal, kadhi here. Location is also very near from the main chowk in Saputara.
Amol K — Google review
The person at cash counter is worst. Staff is third class and manager is totally arrogant. Waste of money. Waste of time. Humble request never visit and don't support such services. I belong to a good family with virtues and such unhuman behaviour is not acceptable at such restaurant. Atleast be respectful towards your customers, they deserve adequate hospitality. Restaurant is also defaming saputara and its heritage. No words left for such worst service. Absolutely third class restaurant and truly deserves to be shut as early as possible.
VIRAG B — Google review
Good pleace for typical Gujarati thali. The place doesn't score much on ambience on plateware. But food was good and fulfilling. Sweet was very well made. 250 for adults, 150 fot kids.
Tejas D — Google review
Restaurant was not good. In thali all sabji's were served with small spoon, Also everytime need to call waiters to serve food. This is rediculos how come people are giving good ratings. Please avoid this if you have big group they are not capable of serving more food. Toilets were so dirty never ever seen like this in any restaurant.
