Kotor in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Kotor, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Waterside cafes and restaurants, ancient city walls and fortifications, a medieval Old Town — Kotor, on the Adriatic Sea, is a look at the past and a glimpse of the future. The fortified city — dating to the 6th century — is studded with Venetian architecture and spires. Its cobblestone streets and squares are full of Roman ruins and archaeological treasures. Boat cruises take passengers on a tour of the bay, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The famed 12th century Cathedral of St. Tryphon is a popular tourist attraction, highlighting the town’s rich history.
With favorites like Kotor Fortress, BBQ Tanjga, and Sara, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Konoba Roma and Marshall's Gelato so you can get the best taste of Kotor while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Restaurant
BBQ Tanjga is a no-frills, family-run spot located just outside Kotor Old Town. Despite its unassuming appearance, it's renowned as the top dining destination in Kotor for good reason. The restaurant serves up generous portions of perfectly marinated and grilled meats, including ribs, sausages, steaks, cevapcici, and pljeskavice.
We decided to come here based on the recommendations. We have ordered the XXL meat mix. The food was delicious and filling. There was also a turkish speaking employee which is useful. And the servers were very nice contrary to some reviews.

Absolutely amazing experience! The food quality was outstanding with very generous portions. Staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and quick. Prices are excellent for the quality you get. The chef and management were extremely kind and genuinely cared about our preferences. The food was so good that we ended up going two days in a row just to try more dishes. On top of that, when the special Kotor dessert we were promised had sold out, the chef kindly treated us to a free drink instead. A truly memorable restaurant — highly recommended!

Three days in Kotor and three time we eat there. Friend recommended to us this place as we much eat there when we in Kotor and we agree. Quality of meat are just amazing. Steaks dry age just melt in your mouth. 60 euro place for 4 people its massive. Four of us cant finish it. Pleskavica omg amazing. Salad and dips top class. Must have if you are in Kotor. Thank You all staff for put smile in our faces after first bite. Chapeau Bas!

Insane mixed meat platter. We got the XXXL platter (45€) and shared between 3 people, we left so full. Really good quality meats, loved the chargrilled flavour, and salad and sauces were great. Would recommend.

Even though I’ve visited Kotor many times, this was my first time having lunch at this restaurant, and it definitely won’t be my last. The Filipino plate was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and freshly prepared. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
Mellie — Google review
This is an extremely popular barbecue restaurant. I had an eye fillet steak, which was very fresh, but I ordered it medium-well, and it turned out a bit tough. I think that wasn’t a wise choice; medium-rare would have been more tender and juicy. The house-made spicy sauce that came with it tasted really good, but the fries weren’t my favorite—I needed more vegetables. Btw, the official opening time is 11:30 a.m., so don’t trust the time listed on Google.

The best meals in Kotor!! Such great quality, value for money and exceptional service. The staff are so kind, special shoutout to Nikola!
Greta B — Google review
We ordered the family plate for three people (two adults and an 11-year-old). Very tasty, proper BBQ feel. The staff were so nice. We have paid 63 eur for a meal for 3, bottle of wine and a soft drink. Definitely worth every eur spent. We actually decided to stay in Kotor for the night just so we could come back and eat here again. That says it all 😀

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Kotor Fortress, located in Montenegro, offers sweeping views of the old town and the bay. Visitors can reach the fortress by driving for just over two hours or taking public transportation, which involves catching a bus and a train followed by a walk uphill to the monastery. The hike up to the fortress is worth it for the stunning views, but there's also a back route known as the Ladder of Cattaro that provides an easier path with amazing views.
Lovely location. It takes nearly 2 to 3 hours altogether to go up and come down. There is an entry fees of €15/ person and kids are free to climb up. Must go location when you visit Kotor. We climbed around 3-4 pm it was too hot to go up there as we were thirsty. Make sure you have water on your way up. There is an option of buying water midway and at the top which just feels like a blessing if you haven’t carried like we did. But 5 star to Kotor and this location.
Ashwini A — Google review
Beautiful views and lovely old ruins are great. We went in September at about 9am and it was busy but not overly crowded. We took the route from the north gate entrance, paying the €30 fee for two of us. It’s a steep price for a hike with a free option but we wanted to see the steps and follow the ramparts. Not easy hike but just constant incline, clear enough with lots of stopping points and things to see. It’s not terribly well maintained but it’s an easy trail. It definitely was a bit smelly in places too but otherwise was fine. There’s a spot with one of the lower forts near the indicated “old town road” on the Google map where you can go into the fort itself and explore, but there’s no through route and it’s a bit steep in places so stick to the route to the right hand side around the hillside to skip it- there’s plenty of other sections to explore. The views are amazing! About 3/4s of the way up is the famed window and ladder as the free route in and out of the fortress. Just make sure to go back that same way if you want to avoid paying on your way out. But we took that route back to see the old path and visit the tiny ruined church. This area was the most beautiful of all, and taking the wobbly ladder out of the fortress is totally worth it for this slice of beautiful countryside that most people walk past. Overall, going in and out on the old route probably isn’t a bad idea and saves you 30€ but is worth doing even if you do pay, just to see the route and avoid the crowds.
Amy W — Google review
Save your money and walk the free ladder of kotor hike for the views. We were greeted by three man at the gate without a hello only a gruff point and the word “ticket” which were instructed to keep as it would be required at the end, I presume to stop anyone from daring to enter from the “free” stairs. The walk was not maintained, with loose rubble and rubbish along the track. At some point there were signs to let you know what you were walking on but they have been long damaged and not replaced. At the top, almost as a tip of the hat to rubbish, people have tied plastic water bottle labels to the railings (must have missed the memo to tie litter in historic places). Absolutely no maintenance to any of the small historic Kapelice’s along the track. 2 stars purely for the view.
Bee N — Google review
For €15 the fortress is kept clear of rubbish and the bags along the ruote are a great encouragement to keep it clear. Walking up and down only took an hour, I decided to wait untill there was a gap in the weather, I wouldn't recommend the stairs after rain, some parts on the polsihed rock can get wuite slippery. Toilets somewhere would be a great idea.
Alice F — Google review
Worth to go? Most definitely yes for hike lovers, as it has amazing views of the city and the bay. Just pay attention to enter and exit before 08:00 when it is free, because after that you have to pay a fee of 15€. It is very expensive for a place that doesn't seem to be maintained. It's important to go with adequate shoes because there are some slippery steps.
Ina K — Google review
It’s a long climb up but the views are stunning 😍 can get slippery when it rains so wear shoes suitable for hiking. If it’s good weather, normal trainers will suffice.
Samantha H — Google review
Go early and experience the fortress and stunning views of Kotor old town, all to yourselves. The added bonus if you go up and back before 8am, it will be free! Takes approx 1.5 to 2 hours depending on photo stops. From 8am you need to buy a ticket for 15 euros. Even the ticket guy said it was too expensive. (Please don’t blame them for the price) Even if you go up for free then come down after 8am you will have to pay. We did pay as we came down after 8am. Also they do accept credit card. Instagrammers leave your stilettos at home! Wear sensible walking shoes.
Sue S — Google review
To go up the fortress with hundreds of stairs you need to pay 15€ ! I don't know the reason but it's not worthy at all. In general there is almost nothing at the top, only ruins here and there. The fortress is beautiful from away on the hill. The only benefit in the end you get are the photos)))

Restaurant
Konoba Scala Santa is a popular restaurant situated in the heart of the ancient city of Kotor. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining areas, with the indoor section featuring an intriguing pirate ship decor. Known for its incredibly fresh and unbeatable fish dishes, it's recommended to try the double platter when unsure what to order. This dish often showcases the chef's specialty creations, such as tuna and salmon plates.
This is not just a restaurant, it’s a place full of stories, where you feel as if you’ve been transported back in time. The atmosphere is magical, soft background music, and delicious food. The staff are extremely kind and always smiling. It was difficult to find a free table, but it was absolutely worth the wait.

What a lovely cozy spot this restaurant is. This was the best dining experience that we had. Would highly recommend sitting inside if it’s cooler outside (gets a little warm in there). Felt as if we entered an old ship. Fantastic service from our waiter who has worked there for seemingly decades. I ordered the spicy beef pasta and it blew my expectations out of the water. Highly recommend.
Zach J — Google review
I saw so many good reviews about the place that I went there with high hopes, but the food was 4/10. The fried squid was served cold and they said that comes with boiled potatoes but actually it’s a spinach so cooked that’s looks like a paste with small bits of potatoes - I didn’t eat. The risotto was nice and the appetizers were ok. So if you’re thinking about visiting it, just get wine and an appetizer and enjoy the atmosphere, because the atmosphere is definitely 10/10.
Zilá M — Google review
Amazing restaurant to try seafood in the old town of Kotor. The mussels and clams were tasty. The seabass and grilled squid were fresh and prepared very well. The draft beer is crisp and refreshing. Staff were nice. The place also has a nice view of a picturesque small square if you manage to sit outside. Prices are kind of expected because Kotor is overrun by expensive touristy places.

Wonderful restaurant with amazing food We got the fish platter and the fried shrimps as an appetizer. Although it was more then a little pricey, and the appetizer portion could have been a little bigger, we loved it The hostess was lovely and waiters did a great job. Very good service and tasty food overall We had a great time there

You need a reservation if you gonna have lunch or dinner here so check their instagram page to find the reservation website. The food was okay. I loved the mushroom soup but overall the food was a little bit saltier and oily than I got used to eat. The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing so I recommend you to sit inside if there are any available tables.

I had two seafood starters and a beef pasta — everything was incredibly tasty and full of flavor. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the pasta was rich and comforting. The waiter was very friendly and helpful, giving great recommendations that made the meal even better. Highly recommend this place if you’re in Montenegro and want authentic, delicious food in a welcoming atmosphere!

I think it might be the best meal we've ever had. They didn't have a seat outside so we sat inside but the atmosphere inside was absolutely amazing. They work by reservation and they are full on the later dates so you need to act a little early for reservation. I highly recommend it. Come to Kotor old town and don't leave without eating here.

Saint Tryphon's Cathedral, located in Kotor, Montenegro, is a Romanesque Catholic church dating back to 1166. The cathedral houses a collection of gold and silver religious relics as well as stunning frescoes. It is one of only two Roman Catholic cathedrals in Montenegro and is dedicated to the town's patron saint. The cathedral has undergone several reconstructions due to earthquakes over the centuries but still retains its Romanesque architecture inside.
Saint Tryphon's Cathedral is located in the v center of the Kotor Old town. It was built in 1166 and one of Montenegro's picturesque sites. It has been reconstructed several times after several earthquakes. In the earthquake in 1667, the entire frontage was destroyed, it was reconstructed with addition of the baroque bell towers. Worth visiting it.

Beautiful cathedral. Some of the paintings in the walls resisted the earthquakes and have an interesting orthodox style, very rare to see in a Roman Catholic church.

This time we visit the Roman Catholic cathedral, one of only two in Montenegro. Built on the site of a church dating back to 809, it has never been completely destroyed, despite numerous earthquakes, and its structure has changed each time it has been rebuilt. The interior is simple, devoid of opulence, gold, or jewels.

Built on the site of the earlier church (809 by Andrija (Andreaccio) Saracenis), the cathedral was consecrated on 19 June 1166. Was seriously damaged and rebuilt after the 1667 Dubrovnik earthquake.

Best place to visit after a night out. This pizza hit the spot every time. A little bit pricey but worth it. Their pizza is always fresh and taste the same every time you order it so you can count on quality every time👌 either it's always good or I'm just drunk every time i eat it 🤣🤣 Anyway don't skip Pronto ☺️

They serve pizza slices in a very practical way. They use thin, thin dough, and the leavening is excellent. It doesn't leave a heavy feeling in your stomach; you should definitely try it. The tomato sauce is a bit too strong for my taste. But it's a great meal while wandering the streets of Old Town.

€3.50 euro for a massive slice of pizza, how can you resist? Honestly such yummy pizza, big slice to fill you up and quick and easy service. I had a ham and mushroom and my partner had pepperoni. Great place to grab food if you are on more of a budget or just want a quick hot snack.

If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Kotor Old Town and craving authentic, delicious pizza, Pizzeria Pronto is a must-visit. The cozy atmosphere perfectly complements the historic vibe of the area, making it a great spot to relax after exploring. The pizza here is simply outstanding — thin, crispy crust with fresh, high-quality toppings that burst with flavor in every bite. Whether you’re a fan of classic Margherita or more adventurous combinations, the menu offers a solid variety to satisfy every craving. The staff are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming experience. Prices are very reasonable considering the prime location and quality of the food. Plus, the portions are generous enough to share or enjoy as a hearty meal. Overall, Pizzeria Pronto is a fantastic choice for a casual yet delicious meal in Kotor Old Town. I’d definitely recommend stopping by for a slice (or two)!

This trendy pizza place offers a 3.5€ slice that’s surprisingly large, but unfortunately, it lacks any real flavor. The slices are dripping with cooking oil, making it a disappointing experience.
Peleg S — Google review
Interesting experience in the local pizzeria. The pizza is OK, I can’t say WOW, but it is well made and everything fresh and big portion. I was reading a lot negative reviews about ketchup on the table - yes, it is there, but no one force you to use it. I saw how local guys were eating, they fully covered the pizza by ketchup. Very friendly staff.

3.5€ for a big slice that’s more than enough for one person. Delicious. Only thing to improve is variety - they have just 3 types of pizza: margarita, pepperoni and with pork. No green olives- which is international. Also no seatings.

The Kotor Cats Museum is a charming establishment in the heart of Kotor's Old Town, showcasing an extensive collection of cat-related artifacts and vintage artwork. Curated by Pierro Pazzi, a passionate collector from Venice, Italy, the museum features an array of cat memorabilia including postcards, antique advertising, coins, and posters.
With only 1 Euro, you can visit this cat museum, there’s a lot of cats related painting and art inside the museum!! Would definitely recommend my friends who visit Kotor to come here! All the souvenir are so cute as well;)

Very small museum with pictures of cats. Entrance fee apparently goes to feeding the cats of Kotor. In the museum shop you can buy pictures of cats standing in front of a certain WW2 landmark in Poland (can't name it or the review will get shadowbanned), comparing the EU to this landmark or if you find that too tasteless you could opt for a magnet of Ursula von der Leyen depicted as a certain German person
Koen S — Google review
It is a small but well organized exhibition of various pictures/stories/articles/prints involving cats. The little gift shop had a lovely selection of magnets and other items. I particularly liked that they support local efforts to help take care of the cities feline population. Cash only.

A must-see for cat lovers! 🐾 This quirky little museum is full of feline charm – both in the exhibits and around the building. It’s small, inexpensive, and supports the local cat community. The postcards, vintage cat prints, and funny signs are delightful! Don’t expect a big museum – it’s more like a cozy collection of cat-themed nostalgia. And yes, you’ll meet a few real cats hanging around the entrance or basking in the sun! No waiting time, perfect for a quick and charming stop in Kotor Old Town. Definitely worth a visit – especially if you’re traveling with kids or just a cat person at heart.
Gurmatik — Google review
The Cats Museum in Kotor gets a lot of hype, but our experience was disappointing. Yes, it’s inexpensive (1 euro) and some describe it as “well organized,” but what you actually get are two small rooms of cat-themed odds and ends like postcards, stamps, magazine clippings, and advertisements. The second room feels like a repeat of the first. There’s little depth, and overall it felt forgettable. The biggest letdown, though, was the gift shop. While some visitors may enjoy the magnets and trinkets, we were shocked to see posters in bad taste. Offensive items like that don’t belong in any museum, one where children and families visit, let alone one supposedly celebrating cats. It's in really bad taste. On the positive side, we did notice they support local efforts to feed and care for Kotor’s street cats, which is good to see. But honestly, if you love cats, you’ll have a much better time enjoying the real ones roaming the old town. The museum? Not worth the stop.
Joseph P — Google review
Very small museum of cats in articles and images. €1 entry and a small gift shop. Perfect to support Kotor's cats
George L — Google review
I had a lovely trip to the Kotor Cats Museum in June 2023. I was charmed by the quirky nature of fhe establishment which provides support to the multitude of (generally healhthy, happy, and well looked after) vagrant cats which reside in Kotor. The museum is small but oozes character; there isn't a spare inch on it's walls which are decked out with a vast range of depictions of cats engaging in a wide range if both contemporary and historical behaviours traditionally reserved for humans. A few personal favourites include Mewsi and Purnaldo, paint me like one of your french cats, and a depiciton of a ritual/torture style castration of a cat as if it were taking place in medieval England (all pictured below). Alongside this humour, there are a range of historicalky significant graphics which feature our furry feline friends - such as a WW1 propaganda piece by the Belgian armed forces depciting Germany as an evil cat assailant poised to do combat with the Belgian mouse (also pictured below). All in all this place is a great place to spend 20-30 minutes for cat lovers, art appreciators, and sports nuts alike.

Ate here on arrival in Kotor. It's on a lovely Square in the old town, so I was perhaps expecting standard tourist food. However the food here was really good - and incredible value. Had spaghetti vongole and grilled squid stuffed with cheese and prosciutto. The service was friendly and I can highly recommend this place. It was great value and so good I went again the next day and might even go again today.

Our server (Jocip) been excellent. The food were great. We ordered cevapi and fried squid. Very tasty and portion is huge! We had a beautiful evening at this restaurant. It gets busy after 8pm, so make sure to make a reservation in advance or come before 8pm.

To be honest, we were planning on eating somewhere else but we are unaware that a reservation is required, so we walked a few steps from the previous restaurant and we saw them. We asked the staff if we can have a table for 2, and they warmly pointed us to our seat. When I checked the menu, I already had my heart set to a seafood platter, but there was no photo of it, We just took the risk and what do you know, that was the risk that I never regretted. The serving was great and the taste satisfied my cravings. I should have asked them to overcook my mussels though, I was just too hungry (and too grateful for the warm welcome), to have thought of the specifics. The staff was super friendly, and we can actually smell our order being prepared, made our mouth water for a minute there. Ooohhh, and I’m not a fan of fish, but I did tried the fish on the platter, and it tasted wonderfulllll…🥰 Truly an amazing experience, highly recommended for mu Filipina palate…🤤🥰😍

Nice little spot in the square, sometimes live music going on. Unfortunately it’s expensive for what it is BUT all of Kotor old town is like this. I would recommend but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a “must eat”.

The dishes were tasty. A major downside was that the shrimp were not cleaned properly, which significantly reduced the enjoyment of the meal. Also, the bread basket was very dirty, which left a bad impression.
Iryna K — Google review
The service was quick and friendly, but the food was not good at all. The dishes lacked any flavour and tasted very bland. They did accommodate to Gluten free and vegetarian, but the dishes really were not impressive. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere in a nice corner of old town. Prices were standard for the area.

The food was delicious but I recommend choosing some of the local seafood dishes as I saw some of the other ‘international’ dishes which did not look great. I expect these cater more to the cruise crowd so are of lower quality. I had squid stuffed with cheese which was excellent. Lemonade was also good. They have local beers and spirits available

The absolute best gelateria in Kotor, 5/5 no question. I might even say some flavours were the best that I've ever had. Glad I discovered them on my first day there. I went in every single day until I left Kotor.

For the flavors I have chosen nougat with coffee and Marshall s special, the taste is mediocre. But other flavors were much better such as pistachio, strawberry, passion fruit, and tiramisu. Expect to wait for 10 mins or so in the queue. But staff are very friendly and speak different language

One of our all-time favourite ice cream spots. Since we discovered it a few years ago, we keep coming back each time we visit Kotor. Superb quality and selection of flavors that are all lovely and really tough to choose from.

Best Ice Cream in town... don't get lured by the ice cream stands all around in the old town... keep your eyes peeled for this gem! Pink Pomegrenade, Violet Ice, Dark Chocolate Orange, White Chocolate Pistachio... only superb flavours, plus it's cheaper
Skolopender — Google review
Best gelato in Kotor! Made from fresh ingredients without preservatives, so the flavors rotate regularly. Recommend any flavors with hazelnut, pistachio, or coconut.
T. S — Google review
We stopped by Marshall’s Gelato for a quick scoop of gelato. We tried the chocolate, tiramisu, raspberry, and salted hazelnut. We loved it here and came back for a second time because we liked it that much!
Jessica S — Google review
Really amazing taste ! We took 6 different flavours. Every ice cream was really really good. Gold medal to the vegan dark chocolate, it was amazing :-) and silver medal to the salted pistachio! We will come back for sure
Sandrine J — Google review
Worth the hype! We went twice during our stay and every flavors we tried were dreamy. By far one of the best ice cream we’ve had, not too sweet and full of flavors 😋🍦

I see some people are complaining here about that place but I have literally no reason to complain. The food was Fantastic! the service was Brilliant! the prices were ok. I ordered a stake - it was juicy and tender and delicious altogether.
Alice K — Google review
First of all, after our order and bringing our drinks, they said it would take roughly 25 mins to deliver the food. Although I said I don’t eat pork and they said they wouldn’t add pork ingredients on my pizza, they brought me a pizza with pork! Of course, i didn’t eat the pizza with pork and they still charged me for it! The worst pizza experience ever! The guy without any hair was the waiter and he didn’t care if we had a nice service or not. Just a tourist trap. The beer wasn’t so cold and tasty, as well. I recommend NOT to stop by here!
Yunus B — Google review
The experience was really disappointing. All of the pictures in the menu are AI generated, so it doesn’t help with choosing your dish. My stuffed chicken was served on risotto, which tasted like plain rice with sour cream, so no taste at all, and the chicken was COMPLETELY RAW, just transparent which i noticed halfway through my meal, because i thought the spinach stuffing was the soft part :( They told me they can’t do anything now and it’s not their fault because i didn’t tell them earlier. (what?) I felt very disgusted and nearly sick after this and they made me pay for it either way, they just gave me some coffee and ice-cream in return. Nobody apologised to me, the manager wasn’t trying to solve the situation, he was quite irritated, not nice. The waiters were very nice and saved the whole situation by doing everything they could to convince the angry manager that it’s not right, but i just know they couldn’t argue anymore. I’m very sorry that they have to work under such management, and i wish them all the patience in the world. I don’t recommend wasting your time, nerves and money in this restaurant. Don’t let them earn anymore. Overall, shitty experience.
Maja Ś — Google review
I’ve never left a review for a restaurant before, but now I have to. The steak tasted like a shoe sole and was impossible to get through. The fries were severely undercooked. I already have muscle pain in my hand from trying to cut through the meat. Please go eat somewhere else and spare yourself one of the least impressive culinary evenings you’ll ever experience.
Job G — Google review
Worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The pictures on the menu look nothing like the food they serve. I ordered chicken with baby potatoes, and instead they dumped old fries on my plate without even asking me – later justifying it by saying the potatoes “weren’t good.” The chicken was undercooked, the food took forever to arrive, and when it finally did, it was a complete disappointment. To make matters worse, the bald waiter was incredibly rude. After I left, I needed to use the toilet and politely tried to go back, but he went out of his way to stop me and aggressively told me to use a public toilet. Absolutely disgusting attitude and zero respect for customers. Do yourself a favor: avoid this place at all costs. Terrible food, awful service, and a rude staff
Iasmin B — Google review
We had the chicken risotto the carbonara and the chicken pesto. My risotto was really good and a nice portion, as well as the carbonara. The pesto was disappointing since it had very little chicken which made it a bit bland. However, the waiter was really nice and even allowed us to switch tables since our table was getting hit by a lot of hot sun. The water dispensers were really refreshing and the price was ok especially considering the absurd inflation in Kotor this year, we paid less than 20€ per person, with 2 beers and 2 waters
António B — Google review
In our experience the main head waiter was rude and uncaring. Fortunately, we were served by a lovely chap but the guy in charge couldn’t care less about customers! We witnessed at least ten people leave due to his arrogance and attitude. Food was bland and our advice is look elsewhere in Kotor old city… there are plenty of restaurants to choose from but steer clear of this place!!

i don't get the one star reviews, the food is great. we ordered two pizzas and it was wonderful. the atmosphere is great, the outdoor dining area is nice and the whole place has a charm to it. i'd recommend it

Pizza restaurant
Pizzeria Sara is a charming eatery in Montenegro that offers an authentic taste of Italy with a local twist. The aroma of freshly baked dough and a variety of toppings create a delightful experience reminiscent of Naples. Despite initial low expectations, visitors have been pleasantly surprised by the quick service and delicious food, such as Caesar salad and pizza.
10/10 location, service, food, drinks. We stopped by during a walk in Kotor and it was in the perfect location. Outdoor seating allowed us to enjoy the town square while sipping on delicious espresso. The pizza was also delicious. Highly recommend!
Teodora I — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to Sara in Kotor! The restaurant has a perfect location right in the Old Town, just across from the beautiful St. Tryphon Cathedral. The atmosphere is cozy, with both indoor seating and a lovely outdoor terrace where you can relax and soak up the historic surroundings. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. Service was quick and pleasant. The food was delicious — especially the pizza! They have a great variety, and I highly recommend trying the anchovy pizza. Portions are generous, and you can even take leftovers away, which is super convenient. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and location. Overall, Sara is a charming spot with tasty food, kind service, and great value. A must-try when visiting Kotor!

Sara offers an excellent dining experience—the four-cheese pasta was exceptional, and the service was outstanding. Highly recommended!
Fatma S — Google review
Cozy and comforting place in the heart of Kotor. We had the vegetarian pizza, pasta with cheese, and hot chocolate. The food was nice and satisfying, but the hot chocolate really stood out — rich, creamy, and one of the best we’ve had on the trip.
Pranjal H — Google review
Absolutely delicious food! The grilled calamari were perfectly cooked — tender, flavorful, and fresh. And the ćevapi? Hands down the best I’ve had in Montenegro! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic taste and great service.
Marianna M — Google review
We didn't have the food, but the drink service was wonderful. Fun loving people making a living. Great location and reasonable prices. Highly recommend for a glass of wine.
Clay T — Google review
Nice location, food is okay, but the service is awful- we waited 45+ minutes to get pizzas, I wouldn’t recommend coming here. Others visitors wanted to leave because of slow service, but they said they have to pay for everything even though they didn’t eat.
Adnan K — Google review
I can only say the food was average, but the staff were so friendly that I would definitely come back again. It’s something we rarely see in the Balkans :)
