Restaurant
BBQ Tanjga is a no-frills, family-run spot located just outside Kotor Old Town. Despite its unassuming appearance, it's renowned as the top dining destination in Kotor for good reason. The restaurant serves up generous portions of perfectly marinated and grilled meats, including ribs, sausages, steaks, cevapcici, and pljeskavice.
We decided to come here based on the recommendations. We have ordered the XXL meat mix. The food was delicious and filling. There was also a turkish speaking employee which is useful. And the servers were very nice contrary to some reviews.
Atakan U — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience! The food quality was outstanding with very generous portions. Staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and quick. Prices are excellent for the quality you get. The chef and management were extremely kind and genuinely cared about our preferences. The food was so good that we ended up going two days in a row just to try more dishes. On top of that, when the special Kotor dessert we were promised had sold out, the chef kindly treated us to a free drink instead. A truly memorable restaurant — highly recommended!

Three days in Kotor and three time we eat there. Friend recommended to us this place as we much eat there when we in Kotor and we agree. Quality of meat are just amazing. Steaks dry age just melt in your mouth. 60 euro place for 4 people its massive. Four of us cant finish it. Pleskavica omg amazing. Salad and dips top class. Must have if you are in Kotor. Thank You all staff for put smile in our faces after first bite. Chapeau Bas!
WOJCIECH M — Google review
Insane mixed meat platter. We got the XXXL platter (45€) and shared between 3 people, we left so full. Really good quality meats, loved the chargrilled flavour, and salad and sauces were great. Would recommend.
Nikki A — Google review
Even though I’ve visited Kotor many times, this was my first time having lunch at this restaurant, and it definitely won’t be my last. The Filipino plate was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and freshly prepared. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Get out of the old town and take a stroll along the beautiful marina. You will come to the real town of Kotor. In the center of the busy traffic circle is Tanjgia BBQ. If you enjoy perfectly aged mests; beef, pork, Lamb & sausages then this place is a deep dive into the local food scene. About half the patron are tourists and the other half are local guys. There was a big guy devouring his plate of food with mucho gusto. I asked him which mix platter it was. He replied that they make it special for him. I asked his name & he said Nicko. I ordered a Nicki Mixto. It had pork ribs & half a chicken with different pickled cabbages. Everything was cooked to tender perfection. Be sure to try their bbq sauce, nothing like anything I have ever tasted before. MUST TRY. FYI, sit on their outdoor patio.
Chef B — Google review
Absolutely a must-try in Kotor. Ordered XL mixed meats for 24 euros and it was in HUGE PORTION and delicious. The service was quite OK. Atmosphere was good but it gets really greasy on the floor on the way out to the garden.
Allen L — Google review
We ordered Mixed Meat XXL (for two people). The meat was quite delicious and well roasted. The meat quality was also on a high level. Pommes & vegetables were ok, nothing to complain about but also nothing to be amazed with. The sauces had a good taste. The meal definitely suits two hungry people!

Restaurant
Konoba Scala Santa is a popular restaurant situated in the heart of the ancient city of Kotor. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining areas, with the indoor section featuring an intriguing pirate ship decor. Known for its incredibly fresh and unbeatable fish dishes, it's recommended to try the double platter when unsure what to order. This dish often showcases the chef's specialty creations, such as tuna and salmon plates.
This is not just a restaurant, it’s a place full of stories, where you feel as if you’ve been transported back in time. The atmosphere is magical, soft background music, and delicious food. The staff are extremely kind and always smiling. It was difficult to find a free table, but it was absolutely worth the wait.
Stanca S — Google review
What a lovely cozy spot this restaurant is. This was the best dining experience that we had. Would highly recommend sitting inside if it’s cooler outside (gets a little warm in there). Felt as if we entered an old ship. Fantastic service from our waiter who has worked there for seemingly decades. I ordered the spicy beef pasta and it blew my expectations out of the water. Highly recommend.
Zach J — Google review
I saw so many good reviews about the place that I went there with high hopes, but the food was 4/10. The fried squid was served cold and they said that comes with boiled potatoes but actually it’s a spinach so cooked that’s looks like a paste with small bits of potatoes - I didn’t eat. The risotto was nice and the appetizers were ok. So if you’re thinking about visiting it, just get wine and an appetizer and enjoy the atmosphere, because the atmosphere is definitely 10/10.
Zilá M — Google review
Amazing restaurant to try seafood in the old town of Kotor. The mussels and clams were tasty. The seabass and grilled squid were fresh and prepared very well. The draft beer is crisp and refreshing. Staff were nice. The place also has a nice view of a picturesque small square if you manage to sit outside. Prices are kind of expected because Kotor is overrun by expensive touristy places.
Nima S — Google review
Wonderful restaurant with amazing food We got the fish platter and the fried shrimps as an appetizer. Although it was more then a little pricey, and the appetizer portion could have been a little bigger, we loved it The hostess was lovely and waiters did a great job. Very good service and tasty food overall We had a great time there
Lior K — Google review
You need a reservation if you gonna have lunch or dinner here so check their instagram page to find the reservation website. The food was okay. I loved the mushroom soup but overall the food was a little bit saltier and oily than I got used to eat. The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing so I recommend you to sit inside if there are any available tables.
Ayşe K — Google review
I think it might be the best meal we've ever had. They didn't have a seat outside so we sat inside but the atmosphere inside was absolutely amazing. They work by reservation and they are full on the later dates so you need to act a little early for reservation. I highly recommend it. Come to Kotor old town and don't leave without eating here.

Excellent restaurant excellent food excellent service ! We really struggled to find a good restaurant in Montenegro and this is it ! We took the truffle pasta (without shrimp) and chicken with blue sauce and potatoes was delicious. We enjoyed our stays thank you so much. I recommend 100% ! Best place in town !

Pizza restaurant
Pizzeria Pronto is a popular spot in Kotor, Montenegro, offering both sit-down dining and takeaway options. The restaurant serves full-size pizzas at affordable prices, while the takeaway hatch offers delicious pizza slices for just 2 EUR each. The portions are generous and satisfying, making it a convenient choice for on-the-go meals. Located in a peaceful alley outside the busy Kotor center, Pizzeria Pronto provides a tranquil atmosphere to enjoy your meal.
Best place to visit after a night out. This pizza hit the spot every time. A little bit pricey but worth it. Their pizza is always fresh and taste the same every time you order it so you can count on quality every time👌 either it's always good or I'm just drunk every time i eat it 🤣🤣 Anyway don't skip Pronto ☺️
Jelena Z — Google review
They serve pizza slices in a very practical way. They use thin, thin dough, and the leavening is excellent. It doesn't leave a heavy feeling in your stomach; you should definitely try it. The tomato sauce is a bit too strong for my taste. But it's a great meal while wandering the streets of Old Town.
Ugur K — Google review
[What Did We Eat?] We tried several Neapolitan-style pizzas – one with burrata, another with cherry tomatoes, and one loaded with fresh greens. The dough was airy, with a perfect crisp crust and soft interior. High-quality ingredients, especially the cheese and tomatoes, stood out. [Price] Slightly above average, but the quality and portion sizes justify it. Great value for what you get. [Ambiance] Cozy and warm atmosphere. The seating is comfortable and the open kitchen adds to the experience – it’s fun to watch the pizzas being made. [Service] Friendly and fast! Even though it was busy, the staff stayed attentive and professional. [Time to Visit] We went on a weekend evening – it was crowded, so booking ahead is a smart move. [Overall Impression] Highly recommended for real Italian pizza lovers. A feast for both the eyes and the taste buds!
Gurmatik — Google review
€3.50 euro for a massive slice of pizza, how can you resist? Honestly such yummy pizza, big slice to fill you up and quick and easy service. I had a ham and mushroom and my partner had pepperoni. Great place to grab food if you are on more of a budget or just want a quick hot snack.
Jessica M — Google review
If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Kotor Old Town and craving authentic, delicious pizza, Pizzeria Pronto is a must-visit. The cozy atmosphere perfectly complements the historic vibe of the area, making it a great spot to relax after exploring. The pizza here is simply outstanding — thin, crispy crust with fresh, high-quality toppings that burst with flavor in every bite. Whether you’re a fan of classic Margherita or more adventurous combinations, the menu offers a solid variety to satisfy every craving. The staff are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming experience. Prices are very reasonable considering the prime location and quality of the food. Plus, the portions are generous enough to share or enjoy as a hearty meal. Overall, Pizzeria Pronto is a fantastic choice for a casual yet delicious meal in Kotor Old Town. I’d definitely recommend stopping by for a slice (or two)!
Avinash N — Google review
This trendy pizza place offers a 3.5€ slice that’s surprisingly large, but unfortunately, it lacks any real flavor. The slices are dripping with cooking oil, making it a disappointing experience.
Peleg S — Google review
Interesting experience in the local pizzeria. The pizza is OK, I can’t say WOW, but it is well made and everything fresh and big portion. I was reading a lot negative reviews about ketchup on the table - yes, it is there, but no one force you to use it. I saw how local guys were eating, they fully covered the pizza by ketchup. Very friendly staff.
Dmitry Z — Google review
The pizza here is really amazing! I’ve tried it three times. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the first two times, the slices weren’t warm, which affected the taste. But since the cheese and tomato sauce were so good, I waited for a warm slice the third time and that’s when I got the real taste! My advice: if the slices are cold, please warm them up or mention it to the customer, because when it’s warm, it’s very, very tasty!

Pescaria Dekaderon is a seafood restaurant in Kotor, Montenegro with really attentive service. You can try some lighter fare options here to change it up from your regular meat and potatoes meal. Highlights include the tuna tataki dish and local red wine. There's also cheese on offer which may or may not have shared a nibble with a cat!
Branislav was my server and he was fantastic, very helpful and attentive throughout my meal. The food was excellent tried the local cacao and the ambience in Restaurant Square made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

We were a group of 20 at the restaurant. Bojan's service was impeccable. He was super attentive and kind to our group. The food was MAGNIFICENT; the fish arrived exactly as we ordered. Everything was perfect. The place was wonderful.
Neide F — Google review
Branislav was our waiter and he was amazing going above and beyond and explaining all the local foods and flavors. The calamari was hands down the best I have ever had. Absolutely amazing!
Robyn S — Google review
Amazing place! Service, food and atmosphere all outstanding. Son had the clam spaghetti and said it was the best meal ever. They even have beautiful vegan options! Manager Branislav was absolutely brilliant! We’ll definitely be returning. 🤌
Hannah M — Google review
Fantastic Meal, we had the meat and cheese platter for 2 and the seafood platter for 2 as recommended by our waiter Bojan, we tried all the delicacies of Montenegro and it was sensational. Service was excellent, friendly, polite and prompt as well as so personable. We loved it here and will certainly come back when we visit Kotor next time!
Julia H — Google review
Stopped here for breakfast in old town Kotor and it did not disappoint. We tried two traditional Montenegro dishes: Montenegro pie with cheese and prosciutto & Przenice (Eggy bread with advar, feta and prosciutto). Both were very good!
Paula W — Google review
We had a great experience today! A waiter nice guy Bojan has advised us a seafood platter which turned out to be the best squid and shrimps experience we have ever had! For sea lovers definitely a must visit!

Having a lovely time here eating the Montenegro Pie and Eggy bread (french toast) with prosciutto, recommended by Milan as I was having a tough time deciding what to eat. Came here because to try the stuffed calamari but it wasn’t available until breakfast is over. Service is good and ambience is nice and chill. Perfect spot to relax and have a decent meal.

Restobar Taraca is a popular spot in Kotor, Montenegro, known for its delicious smoothies and sandwiches. It's frequented by both tourists and locals, which is always a good sign. The restaurant has garnered positive reviews and is listed among the top dining options in the area. Additionally, it caters to vegetarians with a selection of plant-based dishes.
Everything is perfect, the place, the atmosphere, the food is fantastic, the service is amazing, the prices are good. It's great during the day and during the night. The burgers are amazing, even made a person that doesn't eat beef eat a beef burger. 100% recommended

Falafel Buddha bowl was amazing, as a vegetarian there were lots of good options! My partner has the Taraca burger too which he enjoyed and really liked the BBQ sauce. Good location and looking out on the water. Can pay by card too.
Rebecca D — Google review
Place is very beautiful, next to the water so nice view of ducks. Good design. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Some dishes are really good like the curry and the vegetarian pasta, but the buddha bowl for example is very expensive and not worth the price. Meals are good but a little small.
Omer M — Google review
I went to this place with my family on my trip to kotor. Good location and definitely a great variety on the menu to choose from but to be honest , didn’t meet my expectations. Food definitely looked good and colorful but was quite bland at taste. Surely not for my palate. Salt was lacking in most of the things that we ordered. I came here based on google reviews but it didn’t meet the hype in my eyes. Location is good and so is the vibe of the place . Service wasn’t too bad either but the food was just okay . We ordered Buddha bowl , vegan curry , banana smoothie, soup and chicken noodles . Soup and the Chicken noodles were the best out of all that we ordered. In short , not impressed .
Puja S — Google review
We were just about to start the walk up to Kotor Bay view , which we knew was going to be a good three or four hours walk up. We accidentally stumbled across this restaurant and it was the one of the best ‘restaurant finds’ that we had done on that trip . The manager, and the staff, welcomed us into their restaurant like no other restaurant in Montenegro had done up to that point. (they even allowed us to join two tables and rotate them at 90° so that all seven of us could sit around) The decoration was old Yugoslavian style, and modern, but very comfortable The hospitality was so amazingly warm and inclusive. We started our meal with a lovely tossed salad , which strangely I partnered with an ice cold Moscow Mule ( don’t ask me why), followed by a black breaded burger. Do not be put off by their name of the black bread bun, because this was the most amazingly moist, and tender burger I’ve had A truly positive experience - that by the time we had completed our Climb, we decided to come back into the Citadel city, and left the restaurant that we were eating it to come back to Taraca Lunch and dinner at the same restaurant !! it has been a very long time since I did that The price was very reasonable, but we ended up eating far too much.
Jazz J — Google review
One of my favorite places in the Balkans! Such a unique place. Food was super delicious, so many tasty dishes and location is great as well. Waiters were very kind and attentive. Highly recommend!
ЛанчеМи — Google review
A welcome change from the endless pizza, pasta and fish with chard and potatoes on offer across Montenegro. We sat on the terrace and while there are good views of the city walls up the mountain, the primary school is first and foremost in view. DH had steak which was cooked well, and I had a falafel bowl. Food was tasty.
Janette G — Google review
Nice place with good tasting food but we were a bit disappointed with the service. The location is nice next to the river, very cozy and well decorated. We had a family dinner of 3, it's unfortunate when the taste is there but we lacked some quantity of food, for the price you could expect a bit larger portions. Service was a bit slow, we got the entrée at the same time as the mains and no one came to check on us. Even to pay i had to hunt down the server. Maybe just the wrong night to visit.

Good stop in Old Town, but not a standout Service was fast and friendly, and the food came out fresh. I ordered the grilled chicken breast while my partner had the woodsmoke burger (no bacon). The burger was juicy with a soft bun and definitely the better pick of the two. The chicken breast was okay but could use a bit more seasoning. The location is charming, tucked away near the back of Kotor Old Town, which made the experience enjoyable overall. A solid spot to grab a meal if you’re in the area. Fair price

We had a great stay at Little Bay Apartment in Kotor. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the Old Town, making everything very easy to reach. The apartment was very clean, the internet worked perfectly, and the atmosphere was comfortable. The owner, Muhammed, was extremely friendly and helpful – whenever we needed anything, he was always there to assist us. He even helped us with our luggage and assisted us on our way back to the airport. If we come back to Kotor, we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

Terrible. Huge delays in getting our food. Prices are ridiculously high. SUPER POOR QUALITY. The Montenegro Breakfast was absolutely disgusting. As you can see in the photo, the salad was spoiled, the pancakes were partly burnt and partly raw. Only the ham was worth eating! The hamburger was anything but a real hamburger. Truly awful. It’s a shame to pay such high prices for food that’s basically inedible. The kitchen and the food are a total failure in this restaurant. I’m giving it 2 stars only because of the waiter, who tried his best to be polite and professional in the middle of all that chaos.

Marshall's Gelato is a top-notch ice cream shop nestled in the heart of Kotor's Old Town. Renowned for its artisanal approach to crafting flavors, it has become a beloved destination for ice cream aficionados seeking authentic and innovative options. The pistachio flavor stands out as a must-try, described as incredibly creamy and delicious. In addition to traditional varieties, they also offer vegan options.
The absolute best gelateria in Kotor, 5/5 no question. I might even say some flavours were the best that I've ever had. Glad I discovered them on my first day there. I went in every single day until I left Kotor.
Taiba F — Google review
For the flavors I have chosen nougat with coffee and Marshall s special, the taste is mediocre. But other flavors were much better such as pistachio, strawberry, passion fruit, and tiramisu. Expect to wait for 10 mins or so in the queue. But staff are very friendly and speak different language

One of our all-time favourite ice cream spots. Since we discovered it a few years ago, we keep coming back each time we visit Kotor. Superb quality and selection of flavors that are all lovely and really tough to choose from.

Best Ice Cream in town... don't get lured by the ice cream stands all around in the old town... keep your eyes peeled for this gem! Pink Pomegrenade, Violet Ice, Dark Chocolate Orange, White Chocolate Pistachio... only superb flavours, plus it's cheaper

Hostel Old Town Kotor is a laid-back accommodation housed in a charming 13th-century stone building, offering both dorms and private rooms along with complimentary Wi-Fi. The hostel is known for its vibrant social scene, hosting daily sunset barbecues, party cruises, and pool parties to encourage interaction among guests. Situated on the outskirts of Kotor's picturesque Old Town, the hostel provides an authentic experience within a historic setting.
Hostel Old Town Kotor is a fantastic place to stay! The hosts and volunteers are friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is great for meeting fellow travellers. We booked a private room, which was absolutely fantastic-honestly, it felt more like a hotel room than a hostel! Super comfortable and clean. My only complaint is about the bathroom setup: since there’s no divider between the shower area and the toilet/sink, the bathroom floor often ends up wet, especially if previous guests don’t sweep up after showering. It’s a small inconvenience, but worth mentioning. Overall, I would 100% recommend this hostel for anyone visiting Kotor. Great value, wonderful people, and a comfortable stay!

My group’s stay here was awesome! The front desk staff was very willing to help with any questions we had whether it was travel logistics or any information about the town. They helped us find hikes to do, food to try, and more. The rooms were well maintained and the bathroom was cleaned every day. Lastly, the events hosted the by hostel allowed us to connect with the other guests which made our experience feel very rewarding. Would highly recommend to all!

Honestly the room was very very small but it's okay. I took the ensuit room which means private. The mattress was was very very bad. The sheets where stiff and old, so it was not nice on the skin. The pillow was very uncomfy. And there were a lot of noise from downstairs. I'm not recommending. If you want a good night sleep you shouldn't go there.

I paid 5 Euros for breakfast, which was supposed to include tea or coffee. I asked for a coffee, but they only had pre-sweetened packets. I made a simple and basic request: a coffee without sugar. The manager's reaction was unbelievable. She told me that in two years, nobody had ever made this request. She refused, told me to just drink tea, and then accused me of being rude for simply asking. Instead of finding a solution—like sending an employee to a nearby shop to buy a simple jar of instant coffee—she escalated the situation by calling the owner. The owner was even worse. He was immediately aggressive and threatened me, saying I was "playing with fire." He then asked how I had booked my stay (Booking.com, etc.), which was clearly an attempt to find out if I could leave a negative review. When I told him I hadn't booked through a website, his tone changed, but he continued to be hostile. He and the manager both insisted I was being rude. The manager even mentioned that there were cameras, as if to imply I had been aggressive, which is a complete fabrication. I was calm; they were the ones who were hostile. The owner then wanted me to leave the hostel. I have never experienced such terrible, aggressive service. This wasn't a complex request. It was a cup of black coffee without sugar. To be accused, threatened, and blamed for their failure to provide the most basic item is unacceptable. This is not how you treat a paying customer.

Old Town Kotor Hostel is a fantastic place to stay. The hosts and volunteers are friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is ideal for meeting other travelers. I booked a shared room, which was absolutely fantastic; it was very clean, and you can tell they pay attention to that detail. Super comfortable.

The best hostel in the Balkans!! I was here as a guest in March and the atmosphere even then in the off season was immaculate, they make sure to take care of you and that you have a fun time even without the summer activities. I loved it so much that I came back as a volunteer for two and a half months. Hands down, the best experience of my travelling. Ridiculously amazing social environment, the fellow volunteers take care of the guests in a way I’ve never seen (hosting activities and showing the guests the best spots in their spare time). The housekeeping is kept to such a high standard as well which makes it so comfortable for the guests. I made connections to so many people and majority of them told me it was the best hostel they’ve ever been to and that it feels like home. Which is exactly what it is, a home away from home!! Milan cares so much about everyone’s experience and will never let anyone leave with a bad taste in their mouth. I couldn’t recommend this hostel more, it’s somewhere you absolutely can’t miss.

Loved this hostel so much. The place felt really safe, as a solo female traveler, and the staff is amazing. Especially Fatih, Roxie, Sami, Nick and Milan the manager made my stay so much fun. Really recommend to join all the events here!

Fantastic location in the old town. Staff was super nice and attentive to guests' needs. We got a private room which was clean with a beautiful view of the street below. AC was nice and strong. Breakfast every morning for 6€ and activities for 23€. Boat tour and sunset fort bbq were both great. Would definitely come back.

Located in the heart of Old Town, La Catedral Pasta Bar offers a delightful taste of Italian cuisine at an affordable price, making it a popular choice for both locals and tourists. The menu features a diverse selection of pasta dishes, with favorites including seafood pasta and freshly made salmon pasta. Visitors praise the friendly and welcoming staff as well as the charming ambiance.
Great little pasta bar with nice outdoor seating. We got the bruschetta with tomatoes and prosciutto as an app. Nice starter size for two people. I got the penne arribiata and the spice level was fantastic. Definitely on the spicy side of Italian cuisine, but not too spicy. Fantastic. My husband got the pesto, and we agreed it might have been the best pesto we’ve ever had. Definitely had some cream element which was a perfect balance to the herby pesto. So delish. We each had 2 drinks that were all reasonably priced. Great dinner for a couple.

Outstanding. Mostly pasta and a few other things and they do it really well. Honestly, I just spent a week in Italy and this was better than anything I had there. Great outdoor seating, great service, great food. On a cool evening, they even give out blankets.

After reading those great reviews, and seeing long lines waiting for tables. I was honestly expecting something extraordinary! The pasta was very normal. Yes it tasted good, but nothing out of the usual! My salmon appetizer was good, but not more than good. The restaurant is packed, so the service is a little slow. However, they were very friendly. The seating area is in a narrow street, and it was nice watching people pass by while enjoying my meal! Note: I sat immediately at the bar counter, as almost no one wanted to sit there. Otherwise, the line was long waiting for any available table!

An incredible pleasant experience. The local beer was excellent and the waiter Savo was humble and attentive. You should try order the pistaći pasta. The best pasta dish we ever had tasted. Lean back and enjoy the sensation.

We got lucky and only had to wait about 10 minutes for our table. At various times, it looked like the wait could be up to 20 or 30 minutes so it was just good timing. In saying that, any wait would be worth it. The food was amazing. We had the bruschetta and the chicken pasta. To wash that down, some beautiful rosé. The staff were so friendly. The atmosphere was brilliant, sitting in the little alleyway, it definitely takes you back to Italy. If you're in Kotor and in the mood for pasta, you can't go wrong with this place.
Matthew P — Google review
I had one of the best truffle pastas here. I loved it so much I came back and got takeout carbonara another night, which was also amazing. The portions are very generous and they do not skimp on the parm! This is probably one of the best pasta places I've had since Italy. The only thing I wish is that they had indoor seating. It was very chilly every night and would have loved to not eat outside to come here.

We had the best time with Dejan as our waiter! He was so friendly and funny, it was a wonderful experience! And the food was as fantastic as the service. We had the vegan bruscetta, the vongole pasta and the lemon pasta - I think the vongole was the best pasta I ever had! Would absolutely recommend this place!

Pistachia pasta is very good and special, must try. For dessert waiter Luka recommended cherry pie and it was really good, especially when you love berries and a bit sour cakes. Service is really good here - every waiter is attentive, quick, making jokes and making you feel welcome and cousy. Thanks to Luka and Denis! Hvala puno!

Located in the heart of Kotor's Old Town, The Square Pub is a surprising gem that defies expectations. Despite initial reservations about its name, visitors are pleasantly surprised by the friendly service and delicious food offered at reasonable prices. This establishment boasts a great selection of dishes and even provides free WiFi access for patrons. Whether you're seeking local delicacies or international cuisine, The Square Pub is definitely worth considering during your visit to Kotor.
A lovely pub/restaurant in the centre of Kotor next to St Tryphon’s church. Had two exceptional meals one at breakfast and another at lunch as per the photos. The service is second to none and I can’t recommend this restaurant enough and if you’re in Kotor I strongly advised you to have a meal here and you’ll not be disappointed. I shall return in my next visit. Hvala Gareth from Wales

My partner and I recently dined at The Square pub, and we had a fantastic time! The food was absolutely delicious, with bold flavors and perfect seasoning. The portions were surprisingly large—definitely worth the price, and we left feeling satisfied. Each dish tasted homemade and authentic, showing real attention to detail in the kitchen. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcomed from the moment we walked in. He was patient, happy to answer questions, and gave us great recommendations. The only downside was the atmosphere, which felt a bit dull. We chose to sit on the terrace, and while they had some great music playing inside, we couldn’t really hear it where we were seated. A few tweaks to the ambiance could make a big difference here. All in all, if you’re after delicious food and great service, The Square pub is a wonderful spot. It’s definitely worth a visit, and we’ll be back for those incredible flavors!

Friendly welcome from the waiters, stunning view from the table outside. My friend and I both has pasta dishes which were great in portion size and price and very delicious - the spicy pasta actually was spicy (as sometimes a lot milder to cater to everyone) which was lovely. All other customers around seemed happy and tables would be filled quickly once others left so a popular place.

Lovely place in the center of the Old Town, opposite the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon in Kotor, a famous landmark in the area, one of two Roman Catholic cathedrals in Montenegro. Great atmosphere, delicious food, good service! We ordered pork, pasta Carbonara and salad Shopska. Large, shareable serving sizes!

Absolutely loved our stop at the Pub in the Square. The most amazing location just outside the church with the mountains in the background. We were not overly hungry so ordered soup (really tasty) and then two salads. Honestly the salads were huge. The ceasar had so much chicken on it, we were stuffed. The staff are friendly and efficient. A great choice.

Our server (Jocip) been excellent. The food were great. We ordered cevapi and fried squid. Very tasty and portion is huge! We had a beautiful evening at this restaurant. It gets busy after 8pm, so make sure to make a reservation in advance or come before 8pm.

To be honest, we were planning on eating somewhere else but we are unaware that a reservation is required, so we walked a few steps from the previous restaurant and we saw them. We asked the staff if we can have a table for 2, and they warmly pointed us to our seat. When I checked the menu, I already had my heart set to a seafood platter, but there was no photo of it, We just took the risk and what do you know, that was the risk that I never regretted. The serving was great and the taste satisfied my cravings. I should have asked them to overcook my mussels though, I was just too hungry (and too grateful for the warm welcome), to have thought of the specifics. The staff was super friendly, and we can actually smell our order being prepared, made our mouth water for a minute there. Ooohhh, and I’m not a fan of fish, but I did tried the fish on the platter, and it tasted wonderfulllll…🥰 Truly an amazing experience, highly recommended for mu Filipina palate…🤤🥰😍

We were 7 adults and two babies so finding a table in the old town prooved to be difficult, but they went above and beyond to sit others elsewhere and combine two tables which was very nice. We ordered a bunch of different foods which were good including a beefsteak, fish soup, Bolognese, swordfish fillet and more. As we were celebrating a birthday, they were kind to put a candle in the banana desert we ordered which was pretty good as well. There was also lovely live music from the square. One small negative - the mushroom dish for 13 Euro was kind of ridiculous.
Tomer A — Google review
Nice little spot in the square, sometimes live music going on. Unfortunately it’s expensive for what it is BUT all of Kotor old town is like this. I would recommend but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a “must eat”.

The dishes were tasty. A major downside was that the shrimp were not cleaned properly, which significantly reduced the enjoyment of the meal. Also, the bread basket was very dirty, which left a bad impression.
Iryna K — Google review
The service was quick and friendly, but the food was not good at all. The dishes lacked any flavour and tasted very bland. They did accommodate to Gluten free and vegetarian, but the dishes really were not impressive. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere in a nice corner of old town. Prices were standard for the area.
Ronnie C — Google review
The food was delicious but I recommend choosing some of the local seafood dishes as I saw some of the other ‘international’ dishes which did not look great. I expect these cater more to the cruise crowd so are of lower quality. I had squid stuffed with cheese which was excellent. Lemonade was also good. They have local beers and spirits available

Service and food was OK. The Montenegro sandwich was OK but made too hastily as all the cheese was lumped in the same spot instead of spread over. The location is great with sea view and shade. The best part of the meal was the Montenegro ham and cheese plate as a starter.

The atmosphere is great along with friendly and efficient service. Food came out relatively quickly and was of a high quality. Prices were comparable with similar nearby establishments. Sitting next to the water and watching the world go by was a bonus.

This place is great for lunch or a cup of coffee with some sweets. The prices are fair. However, the service is a bit slow, so be prepared to wait to place your order and then wait for your food. Despite that, it's a good place with tasty food.

A bar that I felt at home in. We were always welcome and couldn’t recommend more to anyone looking for an easy drink with a stunning view. Came multiple times - the pizza was good and so was the hot sausage sandwich. My bf says it’s a great spot to manspread in lol

Service great and the view. Unfortunately, the food let it down. The burger was very dry. It says beef on the menu but I'm not sure what meat was used. The pattie was smaller than the bread bun. Nice place for views and drinks.

We sat down for a drink at this bar expecting a lovely drink and good vibe. I experienced the complete opposite. The staff were rude and when we set out the playing cards to pass time we were told no. After asking for the bill and paying with cash, we were waiting for our change when the waiter said that he had to deliver pizza instead of get the cash for us. After this pit stop we didn’t get given the correct change and got less than we were owed.

We loved our dinner at Che Nova! The seaside view was stunning — we arrived just before sunset and it made the whole experience magical. Caffe del Mare is a must-visit dining destination in Kotor, perfectly situated along the picturesque waterfront walkway. This delightful restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere that blends elegance with a laid-back vibe, making it ideal for enjoying fresh seafood. Opt for a table on the charming seaside terrace to relish stunning harbor views while savoring delectable dishes such as black risotto, fried calamari, crab ravioli, and whole-grilled fish.
We ate here twice during our stay in Kotor, the location is perfect and a lovely view of the bay. We had the steak which was cooked to our desired level and was well seasoned and came with a very tasteful side. The choice of wines by the glass is slightly limited. The waiter was extremely friendly and remembered us from our first night, Inviting us to the same table and ensuring we were well fed. He left us alone following the meal to enjoy the view and our drinks and we did not feel rushed or pressured to pay. The 1€ cover charge is standard for Kotor and we have no problem supporting the business this way. The food was very good value, and we would highly recommend visiting here!

Very nice dinner by the seaside. All in all a wonderful experience. The fish soup may not be a looker but tasted great. So did the squid and prawns. Price are a bit to high but you do get great service and a view like no other.

Wow what a fabulous restaurant. If you love fish then look no further. Bojan looked after us so well with great recommendations for food and drink. The grilled Tuna was beautifully cooked and served on a delicious bed of sautéd potatoes and vegetables bursting with flavour and really different. Alex cooked my Sea Bream beautifully on the outdoor bbq right in front of us. You have to taste it to believe it and Bojan filleted it in front of us before presenting it onto my similarly flavoursome bed of sautéd veg. The house wine was perfect too. We will return a few more times this holiday. Thank you for our dining experience.

We dined at this charming restaurant on a rainy, cold night and were delighted! Despite the weather, the outdoor seating was cozy, complete with heating and blankets that made for a lovely atmosphere. Every dish is homemade, from the grilled fish and gnocchi to the fantastic beef steak we enjoyed. The homemade limoncello at the end was a perfect touch. The service was friendly and warm.

A great little spot in the old town. Wait staff were very knowledgeable about the menu (I have allergies) and were very attentive when serving us. The bathrooms were lush. All the food we ate were delicious, good value and a decent size.
Naomi H — Google review
We ordered the cheese platter and a prosciutto platter to start, but unfortunately neither lived up to expectations, the cheese wasn’t great and the prosciutto was dry, as if it had been sitting out for a while. We then tried the oxtail gnocchi, which arrived cold and the gnocchi was chewy, so we couldn’t eat much of it. For the price, this was very disappointing. On the positive side, the waiter was excellent and the owner was very friendly when we raised our concerns. They offered to remake the dish or give us a complimentary drink, but we declined as the experience had already left us disappointed. For what we paid, the quality just wasn’t there.

We visit Kotor every year and came to Pržun for dinner around 7 PM—we were the first guests, but by 8 PM the place was very busy. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We had a bottle of the house wine, which was just right for a warm summer evening. We ordered the seafood risotto and the seafood carbonara—both dishes were outstanding, fresh, and full of flavor. One of the waiters told us that the restaurant is named after the old prison located right next to it, which gives the place a nice historical touch. I honestly can't understand the few negative reviews—our experience was excellent, with great food and lovely service.

They have a 20% discount for 16^00-17^30 time and we were there at 16:00 sharp, lucky we are ) We were the only customers, so we quickly made order and waited for about 15minutes. We had octopus soup, 2 pastas, green salad and 4 drinks. Total we paid 69EUROs, with 20% discount. The soup I ordered turned out to be a cream coup as there was broth only served with crackers. Overall, it was OK. I liked the olive pasta, it was good. The service is pretty fast.

The terrace is beautiful, but the food was a huge letdown. Out pasta (4 of us ordered either spaghetti con vongole or Seafood pasta) was overcooked and tasteless and served with a raw, flavorless tomato sauce — easily the worst meal of our holiday. Such a disappointment given the lovely setting.

Lovely restaurant with a joyful atmosphere. We came here for lunch and we had pizza. Then we had ice cream for dessert. Since it was lunch time, the place was quite crowded, but the staffs were efficient, helpful and friendly. To summarise, we had a good, sumptuous lunch here.

The octopus salad was a true standout — the octopus was incredibly tender with a delicate char that gave it depth, paired with fresh, vibrant ingredients that brought out its natural flavor beautifully. The risotto was equally impressive: perfectly cooked, and full of rich, savory notes that lingered with every bite. Together, the two dishes created a dining experience that was both elegant and deeply satisfying. Easily one of the most memorable meals I’ve had, and one I’d recommend without hesitation. Bravo!!

Great food! The bread is amazing with the olive tapenade. I ordered the sea food platter and it was delicious. Kind of sad that they pretend their card terminal is broken as many have mentioned it's cash only. They should tell you upfront but if Montenegro does not solve this culture of cash only the economy won't be going anywhere on the long run.

Stopped by City Restaurant in Kotor for a casual meal and had a mixed experience. The pizza was unfortunately a letdown—dry and lacking flavor, with a crust that felt overcooked and toppings that didn’t quite come together. On the bright side, the crispy squid was a pleasant surprise—well-cooked, crunchy, and flavorful, definitely the highlight of the meal. Service was standard and the location is convenient if you're exploring the old town. If you’re visiting, it might be worth stopping in for seafood, but the pizza might be worth skipping.

Came to city restaurant during a tour to Kotor from Dubrovnik. The guide recommended this place as had good food fresh fish and oyster and the service was fast (as we were on a timer to come back to Dubrovnik) Service was really fast and the food amazing. I took the option mussels with wine and they did not disappoint. I had to try the oysters too as they have a lot of oyster farms around Kotor bay. Really amazing highly recommended. A bit pricey the oyster keeping in mind they farm them km 0. Overall was really good and keep in mind it's cash only. Enjoy

Our dinner was really not the best. One person ordered mussels and she totally disappointed. She said the mussels were the worst she’s ever had… To add on, I ordered a fish menu. Which was just ok, nothing more nothing spectacular. I added som pepper and salt and tabasco. We ordered a bottle of wine which apparently won an award. And all I can say is that we struggled to drink the wine. It was not good at all. We were generally disappointed. We really expected more from this restaurant. Maybe it lost its quality due to the fact that it’s located near one of the town squares. We got the impression that it was just another restaurant in a touristy area and food quality is not the main focus.

This place is in a great location in the heart of the town. The food looked good but there is no taste and barely average. The service is ok and typical of a busy place in the centre of a tourist area not much attention to the customers. Will skip this one next time.

Absolutely delicious food! The grilled calamari were perfectly cooked — tender, flavorful, and fresh. And the ćevapi? Hands down the best I’ve had in Montenegro! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic taste and great service.

Had breakfast at Sara: 3 eggs, ham, prosciutto, cheese, tomatoes, homemade bread and a cappuccino for 7 euros. Very hard to beat!! Great service, the lady was engaging and fun. Beautiful spot right next to the big church! Highly recommended!

Nice location, food is okay, but the service is awful- we waited 45+ minutes to get pizzas, I wouldn’t recommend coming here. Others visitors wanted to leave because of slow service, but they said they have to pay for everything even though they didn’t eat.

Restaurant
Konoba Akustik is a charming restaurant located near Kotor Beach, offering an outdoor terrace with stunning views of the sunset over Kotor Bay. The ambiance is enhanced by candlelight and fairy lights after dusk. Guests can enjoy cold Montenegrin-brewed Niksicko beer while taking in the picturesque scenery. The restaurant serves generous portions of authentic Montenegrin food, accompanied by live music every evening.
After exploring the old town, this restaurant is a great place to relax. Choose between the cool indoors or sunny outdoor seating to suit your mood or how much you like hot weather! The grilled fish was both tasty and beautifully presented, and everything else on the plate was just as amazing and perfectly seasoned. They offer a thoughtful selection of wines and the menu overall is diverse and interesting... perfect for satisfying your hunger after a day of sightseeing. It's a wonderful spot to grab a bite and unwind.
Palu S — Google review
The restaurant is located by the port in a lovely area — perfect for a walk or a dinner with a view. Unfortunately, there are very few vegetarian options, which is disappointing. Also, the beef we ordered medium and medium-well was served the wrong way around. That said, the food was tasty overall, and the service was friendly and attentive. I would recommend it, but there are still a few details that could use some improvement.

I came to Montenegro for the day and was very pleased to find this restaurant. The octopus was cooked just right and the beer was so crisp for such a warm day. The staff is very pleasant and handled the crowd with grace! The views were pretty great as well!

Great location restaurant with a lovely upstairs dining area with fantastic views of Kotor. We were part of a large tour of 50+ people, so the service was very slow and at times non existent. The food portions were HUGE. The salmon fillet (while very large) was very dry on the outside and raw in the middle. Overall, tasty and flavorful. Would definitely go back and try them again.

We came here for an early dinner and left satisfied with the food and the service. The octopus meal was delicious and the pasta serving was very large. We also had a kotor cream pie which is not pictured.

The place is cheaper than other restaurants but the food was not good as expected We tried pizza and grilled chicken. But the pizza was too salty and chicken was so so.. We had coupon thru guide so had free drinks and pastries.
Rakez ( — Google review
A disappointing experience and meal. We were recommended to Konoba Akustik by our tour guide with the offer of a free alcoholic drink and dessert (we didn't bother staying for the dessert). Firstly it took atleast 40 mins for our ordered drinks to be bought out (2 x Coca-Cola) and even longer for some of the most disappointing food I'd ever eaten. They had one waiter working the entirety of the terrace himself with taking orders, serving orders, and serving drinks. The poor guy was trying his absolute best but was left to fail by the business. Other staff members would bring the prepared food up and sit it on the bar for the waiter, to then take to tables. I watched multiple plates sit there for several minutes as flies landed all over the food. To start we had ordered the traditional prosciutto which was a generous portion and was really nice. I ordered chicken with mushroom sauce. The meal had no accompanying sides besides 1/2 a tomato (the pictured olives were from the prosciutto plate) The chicken was so dry even the sauce didn't save it. My partner ordered the pictured veal... as you can tell what he received looks nothing like what was advertised. The meat was dry and cold in the middle served with tasteless boiled potatoes. I'd not recommend this restaurant to anyone and would suggest spending your money elsewhere.

We had a dinner Citadela Restaurant we heard nice live music coming from Konoba Akustik restaurant. So, the next evening we decide to visit it. A lady on the steer at the entrance looks for clients and chows the way to the restaurant, she does her job excellent. We got our seats upstairs with an amazing view. We ordered drinks and 2 pastas. We waited for our dishes for maybe an houer, but due to nice weather, wind and excellent view, we were not in rush and just enjoying our time. Total amount we paid was 57.6EUROs. Overall, good place for dinner with a great company.

Farmers' market
When visiting Kotor, it's recommended to book a private transfer for convenience, especially if traveling with kids. The drive from Podgorica to Kotor can be winding, so caution is advised for those prone to carsickness. Kotor's farmer's market holds a rich history dating back to the 15th century and is an integral part of the city's tradition.
A fresh fruit and vegetables market near old town main gate. You have lot of stalls selling meats , honey and dry fruits also. They also sell rakija the local alcohol drink
SHANmugha V — Google review
Great local market if you wish to buy fresh veggies, fruits, cheese, local wine etc. Prices vary so walk around and check for the reasonable options or negotiate.

Smaller than I thought but worth the visit. We bought cheese and sausages and they were amazing! A lot of homemade products and we found the cheapest magnets for souvenirs there.

Local food market close to the entry gate of the old town at the city of kotor , Montenegro. There are multiple small shops selling local fruits veg and some local produce. There are a good amount of choices and options available to get a quick bite or grab something on the way. The fruits were supposedly from the sellers local farms , though not too much flavourful.
P. G — Google review
A small market with vegetables & fruits & fish for the local people, and cheese & sausages for tourists. No street food. Markets can be a fun place for tourists like me, but this one was disappointing. However, if you are there, don't miss the opportunity to check if I am right. 🙂

Splendid collection of fresh fruit and vegetables.Price is reasonable. Situated atthe heart of oth old town near the entry gate.
Chitrita G — Google review
A 'farmer's market' right next to the town walls. Many of the sellers in the non-covered part offer their home-grown produce, others not, but shopping for eggs, fruit and veg here is certainly a more traditional and pleasant way than in the local supermarket! Some sellers even offer antiques and other such items for sale. The sellers at the back are of a more obvious commercial bent, though it is fun to sample their wares. We had so much local prosciutto, cheese, salami, olives and even some delicious raspberry wine, that we didn't need to eat lunch 'til an hour after we normally would! I recommend the lady seller with the glasses, the first lady from the left: she speaks some English, is very nice (gave our daughter a free wafer biscuit, and half an hour after our original visit helped my husband to look for my wedding ring after it'd slipped from my finger undetected!) and has excellent cheeses and fruit wines, while the lady next to her on the right also has great prosciutto - but it's up to you on the day, they'll all give you samples to try before you buy! The only thing to note is that none of the sellers have their prices on display (perhaps it's not a legal requirement in Montenegro?) so ask before you commit to buying, and, I'll have to admit, the prices are surprisingly high.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Great cocktails too! Thoroughly recommend the tuna fillet (so juicy!) and the braised beef. Lively atmosphere, great staff and a good Old Fashioned!

Excellent service and setting. More of an upmarket feel than that of many restaurants in the Old Town. Food was very good with a huge portion of mussels to start, followed by braised beef and mash, and seafood risotto. We paid 100e for drinks, a shared starter, two main meals and a tip. More pricey than other places, however the setting / upbeat service was worth it. I would have liked a side of vegetables with main course (some green beans or something) which wasn’t possible - small observation, not a complaint. We would recommend.

Honestly the best food I had in Montenegro and even during our Croatia trip. The sea bass ceviche, cevap and tuna wore to die for! The waiters are very kind and the food is absolutely delicious! If I ever get the chance I’d definitely come back. :)

I had a great time at this restaurant, thanks to a wonderful waitress from Chile. Her friendly and positive attitude really made my day! She was very attentive and kept checking to make sure I had everything I needed. The slow-braised beef with mashed potatoes was amazing too. I highly recommend this place!
Isaac S — Google review
I had mussels with buvara sauce to start, followed by linguine. The mussels tasted fresh and the sauce was excellent, although most of it went to waste as there was no bread provided and I didn't feel like paying another €3 on top of the €20 I'd already paid. The linguine was a little underwhelming, another nice sauce on the pasta but not enough of it to really deliver the flavour in each mouthful. I didn't try the wine as it was very expensive, €7 for 125ml of the cheapest available, €40 a bottle minimum. Overall not a bad meal at all but I ate better food much cheaper while in Kotor.

A whimsical getaway in the heart of the town's centre with eclectic experience which awakens the senses. The food was simply astonishing, a true fine dining pleasure below any standard price. This cute place definitely surprised us with the quality of the menu and the food itself, but also with approachable staff and their hospitality. We had an amazing tuna steak, carefully prepared and very obviously well-marinated, paired with cauliflower purée, exquisite octopus dish and a glass of local wine that our amazing host Miljan recommended. Very thankful for the experience and 10/10 would recommend!

Food was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend the tuna tartare. So fresh..the risotto was also fabulous. Easy to see why this restaurant was so busy. Service staff were so friendly and engaging. This place will definitely add to your experience if you are a foodie!

It was great!!! The waiter was super helpful and caring. As soon as we walked in he immediately offered toys for our son, which of course immediately got his attention. The fish soup was excellent, probably for the first time in 2 weeks of trying this soup in this place it meets expectations. Be sure to get the local bread plate - it's well worth it. The linguini with prawns was also perfectly cooked, except a little too much salt. The grilled sea bass with potatoes was very decent. The cost of food here is a bit higher than other places, but it's worth it. 2 main courses, 2 soups, 2 drinks - 75€.

Mon Bistro Cafétéria is a charming French-inspired coffee shop located in a narrow alley near Kotor Cathedral. It's known for its delicious breakfast offerings, including buttery croissants with various fillings like chocolate, raspberry, Njegusi Prosciutto, cheese, and arugula. The café is praised for serving the best coffee in Kotor and offers a cozy atmosphere to enjoy your meal.
We popped into Mon Bistro Cafeteria for a quick breakfast and had a great experience. To start, we had a latte and the pomegranate juice - which was so refreshing! To eat, we each had the healthy breakfast, which was a yogurt parfait with granola and fruit, with a side of honey. We were still a little hungry and ended the meal with croissants, which were so delicious!

Cute cafe in a side street next to the church square. Prices were moderately high as in most places in town. But we all enjoyed the food we had. We had to sit inside as the tables outside were full and as it's quite small it felt very cramped and dark so make sure to get a seat outside for a nicer ambience.

Restoran Cesarica is a charming adriatic tavern located in the heart of Kotor's Old Town. It is known for its warm and friendly atmosphere, as well as its delectable seafood offerings. The restaurant specializes in fresh catches of the day, offering a variety of fish and seafood dishes that are sure to delight any visitor. With a cozy cave-like interior and romantic candle-lit terrace, Restoran Cesarica provides a beautiful setting for an evening meal.
Loved this restaurant. The owner is very kind and hospitable. The service makes you feel as if you are visiting a dear friend’s house, not a commercial establishment. The owner got busy with other customers but made sure to bring us some local cheese to make us feel welcomed. The fish is fresh and I recommend their grilled sea bream. The local house wine is OK and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This might just be the best seafood we had ever had. The waitress was very friendly and the food was superb! We started with the prosciutto and cheese and then had the squid stuffed with shrimp and the grilled sea bass. Both were delicious, but the squid stole the show! It was truly magnificent!!!!

Went out for a last minute dinner in Old Town and saw the the great reviews here and they were not lying. The restaurant is really pretty and intimate with indoor and outdoor space to enjoy. The walls were full of memories and history. The staff were amazing. There were two huge groups in and out waitress made sure we got our order in before the groups took up the kitchen. The food was fantastic, and some of the best dishes I had while visiting. Our table had a steak and bass… both had us wanting to come back again. This place had some of the best food I’ve had in a while. I don’t understand how this place only has a 4.4, it should easily be closer to a 5. If you are around, please come here. You’ll get some great food and great staff.

While looking for a place to have lunch, we came across Restaurant Cesarica. It's located right in the center, but tucked slightly around the corner, which makes it much quieter and more relaxed. We had the black risotto and the octopus salad—both were very tasty. The risotto was cooked and served in a separate pot, which was a nice touch. The lady who served us was very kind and friendly. The prices were a bit on the higher side, but fully justified by the quality and taste of the food.

My husband was on a mission to find some delicious black ( squid ink) spaghetti or risotto. A local guide helped us locate this restaurant on a quiet street where we found, in his words, “perfectly cooked” black risotto! Thank you for serving this delicacy so I don’t have to try to learn to make it !! 😊 The server really hustled and was very hospitable. The service was very quick. We had the opportunity to meet the owner Rino who was also very cordial , welcoming and personable. He proudly shared his family “ wall of fame” inside , honoring family members who had served in various military capacities. Get off the tourist route and try this family friendly restaurant offering local cuisine and hospitality , and of course black risotto if you are so inclined! (The chicken was also delicious with fresh cut organic French fries and a green salad! )

I honestly don’t get how this place is only rated 4.3. For me it’s a full five stars. We’re Chinese and trust me, if Chinese people say the food is tasty, it really is. Compared with other restaurants we tried in Montenegro, this one was miles ahead in service, flavour and price. The staff were attentive, the squid stuffed with prawns was a wonderful surprise, the setting felt peaceful even though it’s right in the centre, and the prices were more than fair.
Sunny K — Google review
We found this restaurant on Tripadvisor, we don’t always trust this platform but we were absolutely blown away. The freshness of the ingredients and the way that they had been cooked was truly delightful. Starting with the thick fish soup, so many different types of fish, yet the taste was so delicate. Let’s go onto the sea bream with fries, this fish must have just been caught because it was so fresh and delicious. Now let’s talk about the seafood risotto, right my only criticism is I would have liked more rice but apart from that this was a 5*+ dish. Thank you to Anna who was a very hospitable host. We will definitely visit this establishment on our return and so should you if you are in the area!!

A peaceful oasis in Kotor’s old town – perfect for wine and relaxation After our hike up to the fortress, I stopped at the Old Winery Wine Bar (close to the North/River gate in Old Town Kotor, for a well-deserved drink 😊. It turned out to be the perfect spot to sit back and unwind while the busy tourism of Kotor Old Town passed by. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating. I found a peaceful spot outside (this was in June 2025, with only one cruise ship in the bay that day), and it was a lovely setting to relax and take in the atmosphere. Inside, a pianist was playing soft, beautiful tunes that added to the already tranquil and refined ambiance. The menu is well-curated, with a wide selection of wines, beers, spirits, and cocktails, as well as wine tastings with small platters. Perfect for anyone looking to explore different wines from across Montenegro, or enjoy a light bite with their drink. Whether you're in the mood to explore Montenegrin wines, sip your favourite drink, or just take a moment to watch the world go by, this is a fantastic place to pause and recharge.

SCAM ALERT! We were a group of 3 on a Monday evening - hardly a busy night. Ordered 1 mixed plate, 2 pastas, and 1 chicken burger. We waited over 1.5 hours and only the mixed plate showed up, while the restaurant was practically empty. When the rest finally arrived, it was a disaster. The so-called "crispy chicken burger" was literally a frozen patty of questionable meat thrown straight into the fryer.. the most disgusting burge I’ve ever had. The pastas were bland, cheap, and barely edible. The drinks are a total rip-off. €22 for a basic Negroni? Absolute robbery. Stay far away unless you want to waste your money and ruin your evening.

We waited almost an hour to get food, and our drink order came out incorrect. The food was a complete disappointment. Rubbery kraft cheese on the bruschetta, and the "spicy fried chicken" appetizer is just frozen chicken nuggets with a side of ketchup. Completely overpriced to an insane degree. Do not eat here.

Stopped here for breakfast. It’s ok 👌 nothing really wrong but seemed a little expensive for what it was. We had two very small croissants which were not that fresh. My omelette was nice but underwhelming. Coffee was average too. Service was functional. Again nothing wrong 😑 but I didn’t feel excited or thrilled by any of it. Too many people give really bad reviews for no reason, it’s easy to give 5 stars. What do you do when a place is just 🫤 meh ? Would I run back here? No… Did I hate it ? No…

The seafood was tough, unseasoned, and flavorless. The kotor cake had mold on it (see photo). The waiter was unpleasant and unprofessional. With a varied menu including creative sandwiches, burgers, salads, and Montenegrin tapas plates perfect for sharing, Platanus offers a delightful dining experience.
Ate here twice with my girlfriend. First visit was a bit hit-and-miss – I ordered the squid and it wasn’t great (bland and overcooked), but they swapped it for sea bass which was miles better. Went back later in the week just for desserts – had the Dubai chocolate tart and chocolate cheesecake, both unreal. Would return just for those. Friendly service too.

Had my birthday celebrated here. Service was great! Food was delicious. Enjoyed every second. During summer season on Friday, Saturday and Sunday they have live music at 20:00. Thank you!

This place has a great view, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. There’s a small parking area nearby, which is really convenient. They have a kids' chair and a small playground right next to the restaurant, making it great for families. The service is friendly and helpful, making you feel welcome. The food is simple but very tasty, clearly made with care. It’s a nice spot for good food, good service, and a peaceful setting.

Had a great breakfast at Platanus in Kotor—fresh food, fast service, and a relaxing vibe under the trees. The omelette was tasty, the coffee strong, and the prices fair. Staff was friendly and the location is perfect, just a short walk from the old town. Great spot to start your day!

Disappointing. (I have changed my rating. Please read the end of my review). You expect more from a restaurant like this. Average that would describe it the best, hence 3 stars. The staff are pleasant and helpful but unfortunately the food needs to move up a level to justify the current star rating. I had the hamburger and fries. The chips weren't homemade and the burger was average, (no choice of cuisson). The other meal we had, (chicken and rice), we had to send back. The chicken was dry and overcooked. Not succulent as described on the menu. Not a great experience.... As I write this we are still waiting for the replacement meal... 30 minutes has passed and still waiting for the replacement meal. We've finished our meals... !!! We've just been told it's a mess on the kitchen. Doesn't fill you with confidence...🤔 Finally the alternative dish arrived and was edible... At the end of our meal the manager came to our table to offer her apologies. She was extremely gracious and very sorry to hear about our experience and explained that it isn't the impression or experience they wish to give their clients. She made a very generous and genuine offer which I accepted... Thank you.

I took squid flowers, a glass of white wine from Serbia. The dessert was pistachio tiramisu. It is well price. Service is decent. Total was 31 €

The place has good views and vibes, but the food is average and portions are small (breakfast menu). Service is poor - long wait time to be seated and to get the bill.

The Harbour Pub is a great place to enjoy drinks and food in Kotor. The staff are friendly and the views are beautiful. The atmosphere is relaxing, and it's perfect for enjoying a night out with friends.
Been here 2 nights in a row! The sharing seafood platter for 2 was amazing so we went back to share the mixed meat platter too. We were not disappointed and the service was outstanding thanks to Vujadin Djukanovic. Would highly recommend if you are visiting Kotor.

Not good. This is a restaurant that tries to do 100 things well but can't manage one thing adequately. I'm sure there are plenty of good things we didn't try, but I have to judge it on the food we were served. Not up to standard. They could also review their music choice, which was loud and unnecessary.

Pleasant escape from the throngs of tourists. Attentive staff, English speaking, and draft beer with good food options. If you’re in Kotor and need a break, it should be here... look at the pizza?!? Those tips are full of cheese!

We loved our experience in Kotor, but especially The Harbour Pub, which was our favorite part of our short time in this port while on a cruise. This was mostly because of our server. We didn’t get her name but she was a thin young girl with very blond beautiful hair. She was so kind and accommodating and really made it a great experience for us. We also really enjoyed the food and drinks! Great place, clean, great views!

Little Bay is a stunning spot in the beach of Kotor, offering delicious meals and refreshing drinks with a breathtaking view and access to the sea. The staff is friendly and provides great recommendations for local dishes and activities. Visitors can enjoy fresh seafood, local wines, and generous portions at reasonable prices. The restaurant allows guests to relax without needing to cover up after swimming, creating a laid-back atmosphere perfect for enjoying the beautiful sunset over the bay.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Little Bay, and I must say, this charming restaurant exceeded all expectations not just for its cozy ambiance and delicious menu, but especially for the outstanding service provided by Alexander. From the moment we arrived, Alexander made us feel genuinely welcome. He was warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations without ever being pushy. His timing was impeccable, ensuring our experience flowed seamlessly without us ever feeling rushed or neglected. The food itself was beautifully presented and packed with flavor a perfect balance of creativity and comfort. But what truly elevated the evening was Alexander’s professionalism and personable nature. To top it all off, he even treated us to a complimentary drink after dinner, which was such a thoughtful and generous touch. If you’re looking for a place with great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and service that makes you feel like a valued guest, Little Bay is a must-visit. And if you’re lucky enough to be looked after by Alexander, you’re in for an even more memorable experience.

This restaurant is on a pontoon like structure right besides the small man made 'beach', made of small gravel. This restaurant has a really good view out to the bay/sea. The food was decent, however a bit on the pricey side. Drinks were also a bit expensive but to be fair, Kotor as a whole isn't exactly a cheap place, everything is expensive here. All in all if you have the budget then this place is worth a visit, very relaxing, they play music there too.

It's a walking distance from the port! The most fresh home like food, brilliant location and the loving family atmosphere! Would recommend everyone! Free WiFi, crystal clear water on the doorstep, multilingual staff and environmentally friendly approach to local traditional solutions!

In a stunning location, jutting out into the water. The food here was great and the service good. We recommend the breakfast special which is a delicious dish with very generous portions (while the presentation isn't great in my picture, my family's were a lot neater + it was DELICIOUS) The freshly squeezed orange juice is lovely and the black squid ink risotto is also delicious. The pizzas however, we would not recommend, while not horrible, there are far better things on the menu (we felt they were too overloaded with cheese and undercooked). Another brilliant thing about this place is you can get drinks up at the bar and enjoy them down at your lounger on the beach, making for a heavenly afternoon.
Heather — Google review
We went to the beach and it was time for lunch. We decide to have it here at Little Bay restaurant. We got our seats and ordered fish, Greek salad and pizza, and 5 drinks. Total we paid was 71EUROs. Fish was absolutely delicious. The Aperol and mojito were great too. Service was pretty fast. We lied the place.
Shukhrat U — Google review
Very nice location but the food is awful. We ordered a mixed grill platter for 2 persons, a salad and a bottle of their cheapest wine. For almost 90€ you will expect good food but it was horrible. They have found the driest meat of the pork and chicken, not a hint of fat, added a lot of salt and then overcooked it. They even put salt on the salad. We could not eat that, it was like shoe soles, so we brought it home, washed it and gave it to the cat.

A Hidden Gem in Kotor – Little Bay Bar & Grill If you’re in Kotor and looking for a truly elevated experience away from the tourist traps, Little Bay Bar & Grill is it. Tucked right next to the Beach Club, this place hits all the right notes—vibes, service, drinks, food, and view. We came with a group of seven and had an unforgettable lunch overlooking the Adriatic, watching the energy of the beach club while enjoying a more relaxed, upscale atmosphere. The food? Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Every dish was a win. The prices were more than fair—especially considering the quality, service, and location. What really made the experience stand out was Alexander, our phenomenal server. His attention to detail, warm energy, and expert recommendations made us feel completely taken care of. He even crafted some Hugo Spritz cocktails that were hands-down the best we’ve had—refreshing, balanced, and made with real care. In a town filled with overpriced and overhyped spots, Little Bay is the real deal. Great food, stunning setting, and next-level service. This is where you come when you want to enjoy the best of Kotor without the chaos. Highly recommend. Ask for Alexander he’s the greatest . You won’t regret it.

Nice bar, we went back to this bar a couple times during our stay, you just can’t beat the view. The staff were good they even went out their way to make a cocktail for me that wasn’t on the menu, we had a laugh as the cocktail they provided looked and tasted horrific but A* for effort. After we called the waiter back they quickly realised they screwed up and replaced it with the correct drink/ ingredients. Can’t comment on the food we only drank. Keep in mind service is included.

Konoba Trpeza is a top choice for those seeking a traditional Montenegrin meal in Kotor. Tucked away near the city bay, this restaurant offers a variety of options including alternative milks for vegans and non-dairy enthusiasts. Despite being one of the best-kept secrets in Kotor's old town, it has received several awards and is highly regarded by visitors. The restaurant provides covered outdoor seating and quick, friendly service.
Went in middle of day, place next was packed and this place was empty, all the better for us because it was super quiet and a nice break from the noise of the old city. Food was well made, well portioned, delicious and reasonably priced, service was great as he gave us appetizers on the house while we waited . Got the octopus salad, spaghetti alla vongole, e mussels in buzzara sauce. Would recommend all 3.

Great place for dinner in Kotor. The fish in salt is definitely worth a try. Grilled fish is excellent. Very friendly staff and overall a sure value for an authentic tavern lunch or dinner in Kotor. Only the pricing leaves some thought. We were a large group of 15+ and ended up with a bill of over 100€/head, which is relatively expensive (2x as much??) compared to other places we went to on the Montenegro riviera. Most of it is due to the wine, with local wines floored at a relatively high price. But otherwise great experience, we had a birthday and the staff made it a great celebration

We had lunch at this place; the service was quick and kind, the food was delicious, and the portion size was good. We ordered the seafood soup and the seafood risotto and they gave us a courtesy of cheese and bread; everything was tasty. I would recommend this place.

I seemed to be the only person dining when I visited but it was raining and maybe there were more people inside. The food was good - I enjoyed my soup and pasta and the beer was really nice and cold. They have a lot of covered tables outside in the square and the service was friendly and quick.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stumbled upon Konoba Trpeza after being turned away elsewhere and couldn’t have been happier with where we ended up. The staff were incredibly welcoming, quickly arranging a shaded table for our group of six and even turning a fan on us to help cool down after a 43-degree hike up to the fort. Out the back is a quaint shaded courtyard, perfect for escaping the heat and enjoying a relaxed meal. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient—and the food was excellent. Between us we had pasta, salads, steak, and a burger, and every dish was fresh, well-prepared, and thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommended for both the atmosphere and the hospitality. A real gem in the heart of Kotor.

Nestled in the heart of Kotor's old town, Pepe Nero offers a sophisticated setting to savor Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant boasts an extensive wine selection and an impressive cocktail menu to complement its local and international dishes. Renowned as one of the best breakfast spots in Kotor, it serves traditional Montenegrin egg dishes, international classics like Avocado Benedict, and healthy options such as oatmeal with chocolate & coconut chips.
We visited this restaurant and were impressed on every level. The staff is extremely friendly, professional, and always smiling – they genuinely make an effort to give each guest a great experience. The food is absolutely delicious, perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented, with great attention to detail. 😍 The ambiance is pleasant, modern, and very clean – everything is tidy and thoughtfully arranged, which really adds to the overall experience. A special highlight is the live music they occasionally offer, which makes the evening atmosphere even more enjoyable. The prices are quite reasonable for the quality you get, and it’s definitely worth every penny, highly recommended!

I really liked this restaurant - so much that I went twice! The food was yummy, the drinks were gigantic and great, and the best thing was the service. Our waitress both times was kind, welcoming and professional. She had good recommendations and spot-on suggestions. She remembered us from our first time sitting there and made us feel like total queens. Highly recommended!

We went there twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast. The food is mostly delicious but the portions are rather small, especially considering the price (hence the 4 stars). The staff is very friendly! There was also live music in the evening. For breakfast I had oatmeal with fruits, but "the fruits" were 3 small pieces of orange, that's it. So here I also see room for improvement, again, considering the price.

Accommodation options range from standard rooms to deluxe suites, with amenities such as free WiFi, on-site dining options, a bar, airport shuttle service, and event spaces.
This is a wonderful smaller historical hotel located just inside the Old Town walls above the busy main square. Within steps of the Main Sea Gate entrance. Our room had a balcony overlooking the square with the mountains rising above the city for a stunning view! Room was bright, had large windows to open, bathroom very clean and bed was very comfortable. Hotel staff was informative, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was good and they have a great restaurant just outside the hotel. Perfect place to stay in Kotor vs getting into the darker busier side streets! But close to some wonderful restaurants.

Close to the port and the old town but luckily not in it so you can enjoy a good food without waiting. You have enough time to check the menu but you don't need to look for the waiter. The food is freshly made so of course you need to wait for it, in our case max 15 minutes. They provided wet towel to clean your hand after you finished which was a huge plus. We asked for the bill and the waiter brought it without playing around or delaying the payment. Excellent service.

Always lovely to spend time here: very good and fast service, staff is chill and friendly, never crowded. Food is great! Restaurant Cattaro offers a delightful dining experience with a variety of delectable dishes. The fish cream soup, fried small fish, veal in Montenegro style, seafood spaghetti, and the renowned Cattaro cake are all highly recommended. The rich and creamy chocolate is simply divine. Guests also appreciate the complimentary grappa served by the friendly and humorous waiter. Despite not having all dishes available at times, the reasonable prices make it worthwhile.

Attracted by the newspaper-style menus and its proximity to Airbnb, the decision to dine at Restaurant Scorpio Kotor was primarily based on convenience. However, it turned out to be a remarkable discovery. Following a week-long stay in Kotor, it can confidently be stated that Scorpio's menu is more intriguing than most restaurants in the area. The Greek salad accompanied by bread and grilled squid were exceptionally delicious. The wait staff, especially the young server, were not only helpful but also efficient.

TLDR: VERY BAD, DO NOT EAT THERE. We ordered a pizza, a meat plate for two persons and drinks for four. We first received a cola for one and after some waiting a beer. Then the waiter brought us some food that actually wasn’t our order. We sent the food back with the waiter who correctly apologized and said they will prepare our order. At the same time we also asked after the missing drinks. The waiter brought us plates, forks and knives. Two out of four plates were dirty. One knife was missing. Then the waiter brought one drink. One was still missing. Then the food and the missing drink finally came. The pizza was ok (not great) but the meat plate was so salty that it was unedible. The weird thing is that there wasn’t even too many people in the restaurant during that time, maybe two or three tables besides us. So the hurry can’t be the reason. Conclusion: this is our tenth day in Montenegro during this holiday and in every other restaurant we have had decent or even excellent meals. On the contrary, Scorpio in Kotor was very bad experience in every sense. I cannot recommend it to anyone.
Antti S — Google review
Friendly staff, but the food was a disaster. The calamari was soggy and tasted unfresh, we couldn’t eat more than one bite, and no one even asked why. The swiss chard and potatoes with the octopus were old, stale, and we suspect microwaved. One of the worst meals I’ve had in Kotor. I left hoping I wouldn’t get food poisoning.

Overall pretty good. No wait time so be seated or order and my food came quickly as did my beer. Service was polite. The risotto was supposed to have mussels, prawns and calamari but there was only mussels. It was tasty tho. Portion was small and I went elsewhere for more food after, and I waited ages to pay after my plate was cleared so that wasn’t ideal… Location and ambience are unreal though!

Also stayed temporarily in a normal room (my choice due to a concert going on in the square and the hotel kindly moved me for a night) which was perfectly good for a sleep. Lovely staff and really helpful on the front desk. Accept it might be more noisy (not outrageously so) more so Fridays and Saturdays, but you are in the centre of Old Town so you sign up for it and if you are shocked or upset by that then you haven't really thought it through! Ear plugs easily sorted that out. I'm a light sleeper and didn't struggle most of the week. Reception can provide earplugs if you forget. Nice choice of breakfast food for vegetarians too and didn't ever get too busy. Cheers!

A really lovely hotel - a perfect location in beautiful Kotor. The room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. It felt luxurious. The staff, particularly Marija on Reception, were super helpful (she even lent us her own umbrella!). The buffet breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had! Loved it all.

We stayed here between August 6-9, 2025. I read the reviews and was a little surprised. The rooms are definitely not noisy, on the contrary, although it is directly at the entrance of the old town, it is very quiet, and when you close your curtains, it is very suitable for sleeping all day 😄 The lady who took care of us at the reception was very kind, although we arrived early, she kindly told us that the room was not available and gave us a locked room for our suitcases, then when the room was ready, she informed us via whatsapp and they gave us a free suite upgrade and champagne as a gift because it was our honeymoon. It was a very kind gesture and thank you very much again. I don't agree that they treat you badly when they realize that you are Turkish. In general, they are very rude, all the shopkeepers and employees here, maybe you may have come across them. It's really uncomfortable if you're not used to it because they are really horribly rude. Despite this, the woman who took care of us at the reception was incredibly kind and sweet. What is written about the restaurant part is true, the waiters are rude and it is really as if they are forced to serve us. We ate here once and we did not eat or drink anything here again in order not to accept this attitude again. In summary, we are very happy with the hotel part in the whole process. Unfortunately the restaurant part could be better, the menu is very inadequate and the waiters are rude.

During a cruise stop in Kotor, I had lunch at Hotel Vardar, right in the heart of the Old Town. The terrace is a perfect spot for relaxing and people-watching, surrounded by beautiful historic architecture. I ordered a salmon sandwich, which was fresh and well-prepared, and enjoyed a glass of Luca, a local Montenegrin white wine that was crisp and refreshing. The service was friendly, and while the prices are a bit on the higher side, the setting and quality made it worthwhile. A great place to unwind and take in the atmosphere during a day ashore.

Hotel Vardar is within old city of Kotor, a convenient base to explore Kotor old city. Reception is friendly and generally all staff in hotel, professional. Our room is spacious enough, and Ritual toiletries is a bonus! We are very happy with Vardar, and would recommend to those who wish to stay within old city.

Lovely hotel in a great location in Old Town Kotor. The room was very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful and the included breakfast was delicious. Definitely recommend!

Had a great experience staying here. Check in was quick and easy. Friendly staff. Room was spacious and beautiful. Comfy bed, nice pillow. Spacious bathroom, didnt see a lot of amenity, but maybe if you ask they will be able to provide it for you. Can see an alley from the window of my room, nothing else. Good breakfast, in terms of variation, not comparable with asian hotels with their big buffet breakfast, but it feels homy and it tastes delicious. Very great location, just inside the old town, not far from a city gate. Walk out of the old town to go to the supermarket. Theres a pizza shop just accross the hotel, with so many souvenir shops nearby. Got a fridge magnet as a souvenir from the hotel when i checked out, thanks hotel Vardar..

We stayed in the junior suite of this hotel. What stands out is definitely the location in the center of Kotor’s old town. The room was great and clean. The service was good. Recommended.

Rooftop Terrace Hippocampus is a charming and intimate rooftop bar and restaurant located atop Hotel Hippocampus in the heart of Kotor's old town. With only around 10 tables, it offers a private and romantic setting with stunning views of the red-tiled roofs and church spires. Guests can enjoy freshly made cocktails while taking in the picturesque scenery.
We had the most wonderful lunch at the rooftop terrace in the heart of Kotor. The view of the mountains and old town rooftops was breathtaking, but what truly made the experience special was our waiter, Nicolai from Serbia. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, guiding us through the menu and even finding the perfect wine to pair with our meal. His kindness, attentiveness, and hospitality made us feel right at home. Delicious food, stunning scenery, and exceptional service — if you’re in Montenegro, this spot is an absolute must, and ask for Nicolai! 🍷⛰️✨

Overall the experience was OK. We went for dinner around 8.30pm on a Tuesday evening. The first thing we noticed was that it was very dark, there wasn't much lighting. A table lamp was brought over eventually. We ordered drinks. They didn't have several of the wines I asked for, had to settle for the 4th option given. My partners beer was never brought, so we had to chase it up. The calamari portion was a decent size but could tell it wasn't fresh. Gnocchi and pork mains were nice, especially the pork dish was delicious. Our meal was unfortunately ruined by a huge amount of flying ants on our table, on our glasses, on our plates, one even got into a drink. At one point we had 10+ on the table. We didn't experience anything like this at any other restaurant in Kotor that we visited. A candle was brought over to replace the light, although didn't deter the ants more attracted them. The servers were nice but not overly friendly. The price of the food was reasonable, but the drinks prices were elevated comparable to all other places we visited in Kotor. We wouldn't come back again.

Such a lovely restaurant and atmosphere, the staff were so friendly! We loved sitting on the roof and would like to come back for brunch before we leave Montenegro. We recommend booking as they were pretty much full on a Tuesday night early July! (We booked on the day and must’ve got lucky?) Swallows were flying above us while the sun set, the view is lovely. Definitely recommend as a romantic date spot but even as a peaceful dinner as I went with my family and us girls loved it. The tiramisu was DELICIOUS!

This place not only offers a magical setting beneath the stars and surrounding mountains (which are quite stunning), it also impresses with its delicious food and attentive service. Our waiter Dino was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely eat here again! Try the fried calamari, traditional shrimp and polenta dish, and beef steak.

We had the best experience eating here!!! Our waiter, Alex, truly made the experience so memorable and perfect. The food was also AMAZING. Views are beautiful too. Worth every penny we paid.

Stopped here for lunch after an eventful morning. We were tired and wanted a place to sit down and snack on something. The host was so nice and the food was really great. If I could give 10 stars for great service, I would. I think the places closer to the cruise ship terminal and along the plazas get more traffic but if you can walk a few extra blocks this place is worth it. We hope to come back to Kotor one day and will definitely be coming back here for a full meal.
Michael H — Google review
I often visit Montenegro and, to be honest, I’m used to the service here being far from great. But this restaurant completely changed my expectations. I especially want to highlight Dino, our waiter. He is a true professional who knows how to make guests feel welcome. He recommended us exactly what we wanted. The woman administrator was also very kind, attentive, and pleasant, adding to the warm atmosphere of the place. The food was also excellent. This place for sure worth coming back to! Highly recommend!!!

Doublecheck your check - they overcharge. Would not come back to this place, unfortunately. The wait staff was quite rude, seemed to be tired of serving guests and lacked knowledge of the menu. We ordered a quinoa salad with chicken and (!) a lemon vinaigrette dressing for brunch and it came with lots of iceberg lettuce, just a tea spoon of the actual quinoa and absolutely no dressing. We asked the waiter to bring us some lemons/olive oil/vinegar so we could dress the salad and the server told us it was supposed to come without a dressing (seems like the staff doesn’t know the menu). We did get olive oil and vinegar though so we dressed the salad ourselves. Lastly - we got scammed in our check. I ordered a mushroom risotto which was €16 on the menu and the final check charged €20 for this dish. After we asked for a menu back to doublecheck and addressed this, the waiter did give us €4 back, but it left a very unpleasant aftertaste. The only reason I’m leaving this place 2 stars instead of 1 is the view. You can’t get such views in many places in Kotor and it’s an okay place to grab some water and enjoy the view.

Montenegro Hostel 4U is a lively and welcoming hostel located in Cetinje, Montenegro, nestled in the picturesque hills of the Montenegrin mountain range. This down-to-earth accommodation offers a guest kitchen and lounge for guests to enjoy. The hostel's location provides easy access to a beautiful beach with crystal-clear waters, perfect for a relaxing day out.
Where do I even begin. I’ve stayed in a decent amount of hostels and I can say that this was my favorite experience yet. The entirety of the staff/volunteers were incredibly kind and fun, making my experience unforgettable. The hostel itself was quite nice as well. I found the bed to be very comfortable, it also included curtains which is always a bonus. Bathrooms did the job. Awesome hangout area with tables + a PlayStation with people always around to hang with. Everyday there’s always some sort of an even along with nightly drinking games/pub crawl in the old town. Lastly, the location is unbeatable. Right by the beach with many (inexpensive) cafes nearby, and only a 10ish minute walk to the old town. I only stayed for a few days but it felt like I had known everyone forever. Thanks to you all and I hope I see you again!

Absolutely loved my stay at Montenegro Hostel 4U! The view is amazing – you wake up to stunning scenery every day. The BBQ nights were a real highlight, and such a great way to meet new people. The atmosphere is super friendly and social, with travelers from all over the world. Everyone, including the staff, was so kind and welcoming. It’s the perfect place to relax, connect, and really enjoy the moment. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great vibe and unforgettable memories!

Great hostel with everything you could want! Activities (like pub crawls, kayak, boat tours, BBQ) are organized every day and the location of the hostel is perfect. 10 meters to the beach on a hungover day is all one could want really. The hostel staff is the best and knows all the good spots to go. 10/10 would recommend this place!

**One of the Best Hostel Experiences!** I only stayed for a day, but this hostel made a lasting impression. The hospitality was amazing — some of the friendliest people you’ll meet. It’s a very social place, perfect for meeting other travelers, and the staff always have the best recommendations for things to do and events around the city. The location is super convenient — just outside the city center and right along the beach. Even my friends who came to visit were welcomed so warmly, which says a lot about the vibe here. Great price, great people, and a great atmosphere. Blazo is one of the coolest hostel hosts I’ve met, but honestly, the whole team was awesome. Highly recommend this place and I’ll definitely be coming back!

I’ve stayed in over 30 hostels in my travels. And this hostel is one of the best if not the best hostels I’ve stayed in. Perfect location the beach is 10 Meters from the hostel entrance. The staff is very dedicated to make sure that all the guests have a fun safe and comfortable visit. This hostel offers several amazing activities from boat tours to kayaking and pub crawls every day to the week! If you’re visiting Kotor this is the place to be!
Teddy B — Google review
I had the absolute best time staying here. The staff were incredible, it was on the beach, everything was always clean, there was some outdoor gym equipment available and there was a great kitchen with enough fridge space! I'd recommend coming here to anyone heading this way! ❤️❤️ The hostel even organised a kayak tour and a speed boat tour both at great prices! Also a pub crawl every evening!
Sanne S — Google review
Solid location. Literally on the beach. Excellent service. Their staff was friendly and always so so helpful. Their recommendations for boat tours and food were genuine. I was in a 6 bed mixed dorm. Good size, lockers in the room, and quiet enough to get sleep if you don’t want to go out out. But they did a pub crawl everyday if you did want to get involved. Excellent place. Can’t recommend it enough. For the price you pay, it’s pretty solid!

Old Town Square, also known as Kotor Old Town, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a top tourist attraction in Montenegro. The beautifully preserved architecture and Venetian-style buildings offer stunning views of the bay. This charming area is home to lovely souvenir shops, restaurants, and churches that create a delightful vibe. Visitors can enjoy the cobbled streets steeped in history and take a leisurely walk to the peak for breathtaking sunset views.
We visited Kotor while on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean. We had to take tenders from the ship to the dock. Then we self guided our tour using Google maps and my research. First time in Kotor and it was amazing. So much history here and walking around Old Town was eye opening. Plenty of places to stop for coffee and food. Many of the famous buildings are on or just off the square so we made lots of pics.
Perry H — Google review
We found Kotor Old Town to be pleasant but not extraordinary. The medieval charm is there, with narrow streets and old stone buildings, but it didn’t quite stand out compared to other historic towns we have visited. We had a short walk around, soaked in the atmosphere, and enjoyed a pint at a local spot — a nice way to pass some time, though not particularly memorable.
Highway V — Google review
Kotor's UNESCO old town features buildings and old cathedrals of Romanesque, Renaissance, and Baroque influencew. Like most old towns in the Balkan countries, the cobbled streets and narrow alleys are common sights. Kotor in Malay language means dirty. However, Kotor of Montenegro is far from dirty.
Nursuriati J — Google review
Very beautiful old town. Loved the cats inhabiting it. Its a shame that it smells like urine, needs more public toilets for drunkards. Prices are very touristy

Centrally located, it provides easy access to Kotor's attractions such as the Clock Tower and Kotor Old Town Walls. This 17th-century building offers luxury accommodation within walking distance of the beach and other amenities.
A wonderful hotel restaurant in Kotor with a stunning terrace view. The food was excellent. The meat was well-cooked, and we loved the presentation of the octopus. We had the chance to chat with Chef Necip and thanked him for the delicious dishes. We definitely recommend it!
Burak — Google review
Our 3 night stay at this hotel in Kotor was an absolute disaster and a complete waste of money. The entire experience was a testament to false advertising and a shocking lack of care, crazy for a 4 star... The issues began from the moment we arrived. Despite being advertised as having a parking lot, there was none. We were told to park in a paid lot outside the old town, forcing us to wait in line for hours just to find a spot. This was a frustrating and terrible start to our trip. The room itself was an unbelievable disappointment. It bore no resemblance to the photos online; it was incredibly small and cramped, with barely enough room to walk. The noise was relentless, and we could hear everything from the hallway and other rooms and the clubs downstairs, making it impossible to relax. Staff were unhelpful and inconsistent, The total lack of amenities was a huge issue. We had no shampoo or shower gel, the breakfast kept lacking what advertised. This hotel had no redeeming qualities and was a complete rip-off. Having stayed in countless hotels, I can confidently say this was the worst experience I have ever had. I urge anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere; it's truly not a hotel worth choosing.
Chiara G — Google review
This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I genuinely cannot understand how it holds a 4-star rating. Yes, we were warned about the noise — but that ended up being the least of our problems. The service was appalling. One staff member in particular was not only unhelpful but repeatedly gave us incorrect information, contradicting both the tourist information centre and his own colleagues. The overall attitude from staff was cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming. The room itself was clean, but that’s where the positives end. The only real benefit of this hotel is its location in the Old Town — but there are countless other hotels nearby that won’t ruin your stay. Avoid this place. You’ll thank yourself later.
Mini P — Google review
My friends and I went here for dinner and were blown away by the view at sunset from the rooftop patio. The most amazing musician was playing and it was incredible to see the view of the mountains with the sun going down. The food was excellent (get the burrata!) and the service was great!
Sarah Z — Google review
We loved our stay at the Hippocampus. All of the staff we met were really friendly and welcoming. The room was large and comfortable and breakfast was good (although a little more variety would have been welcome). The hotel is in the heart of the old town making it perfect for exploring beautiful Kotor - but it does mean it is noisy at night being next to a bar - the only downside in an otherwise amazing stay.
Nick H — Google review
I read multiple reviews prior to staying at Hotel Hippocampus and I would like to share my honest thoughts after my experience. I had a great experience staying here for multiple reasons - the first is the location. You really cannot get much better than in the Center of Old Town Kotor, the location is gorgeous and you are walking distance within everything. Also, there is a rooftop restaurant with an awesome view where the staff is extremely hospitable. Second was the food and breakfast. Every morning I had breakfast that was quickly prepared, but it tasted great… seriously. They cut fresh fruit for us as well which might not sound like a big deal, but it’s the little details and things like that that stand out. When I ask for something, they delivered quickly and with quality on our food and drinks. Third was safety. With a 24 hour receptionist and safety, I felt safe and like I could reach out at any time if I needed anything. That was a very nice plus as well since other places were not able to offer that service. Finally, the hospitality was truly unmatched. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, every member of the staff always asked us if we need anything, checked in on us, and just had great general conversations with them. The people that cleaned our rooms constantly asked if we needed bathroom utilities, or if there was anything else they could do for us, which demonstrated they were focused on keeping our rooms clean. The front desk team and Bojan gave us recommendations on what to do while we are in Kotor, and even offered us beach towels and a bag to carry them since we forgot ours. It was little gestures like that that made a big impact for us, and constant politeness that really just stood out to me. They really are the definition of hospitality and customer service!!! I also do want to address the noise - yes, there is some noise but that is out of their control. It’s not fair to blame the hotel for that since Kotor old town is small, and you can hear the music from far out. Thank you Hotel Hippocampus team for a great stay! I strongly recommend them if you are looking to stay in Kotor!
Mihailo D — Google review
We only had breakfast and it was not really that great. I ordered menemen and it was actually really bland, watery. Not even close to the real menemen breakfast. My wife ordered Benedict eggs, and they were half boiled and nothing special. We also waited for a long time, even though the woman working was a good server. Don’t recommend for breakfast.
Davor D — Google review
Wasn't going to write this review until my credit card bill shows a charge and I have paid when I was there with another card. Now I have to raise a dispute on the double charge. Beware if you decide to pay using another card. The website you used to book might charge you again. Not pleased at all. Many have wrote about it and didnt want to repeat until the above duplicate credit card bill. 1. Noise. Impossible to sleep before 1am due to a pumping loud bass bar next door. 2. Shower is tiny but is reasonable for the location. 3. Staff is absolutely lovely and friendly and have to deal with all the customers' complaints per above. 4. Lovely breakfast. 5. Amazing location Pros and cons while I have to raise a dispute and figure out a double charge when I didn't even complain about the ridiculous noise.

One of the best hostels I stayed in in Kotor. Sandra was the nicest person ever, she made my check out super smooth, she gave me a locker to store my belongings until taking my night bus, not only but also gave me full access to the hostel to use its facilities without any extra charge, I also used her advice a lot on what to do and where to go. As for Ivan, upon check-in he threw in PLENTY of ideas to get the best out of my time in Kotor. And the hostel itself is very clean and quiet, and its location is ideal. Highly recommend it!

Qualitas Apartments in Dobrota offer lovely and impeccably clean units located conveniently between the bus station and the old town. The friendly and helpful owners provide options for sea view apartments with spacious interiors, or more private units without a view. Guests highly recommend this as a great place to stay in Kotor, praising the super nice personnel and excellent location.
Really helpful host and a fantastic location - less than a five minute walk from the nearest old town gate but far enough for it to be nice and quiet and sleeping at night. Really good restaurant right across with views of the harbour for a special meal, a grocery store a couple minute’s walk away (cut through the residential alley), and a fantastic, cheap bbq restaurant across from the grocery store. Also a five minute walk to the bus station! It was so lovely to step outside in the morning and see the bay of Kotor.
Gaby J — Google review
The Apartment's location is situated between the main bus stop and the Old Town, it is a good balance between the proximity to the bus station (for trips out of town) and the walk to the Old Town entrance. It's a ten minutes walk to the main gate of the city wall. Situated in a quiet alley off the main road, it was also quiet enough and a distance from the maddening crowd of the Old Town. Located close to the harbour, it was close to the launching point for a boat tour. A popular boat tour company, Golden Wave, has an office at the corner of the road toward the Apartment. The Apartment has a small pretty garden in front of it which is probably useful for smokers or laundry. The service staff Pavo was friendly and helpful. On the day of my arrival, the bus from Dubrovnik to Kotor was late for one and a half hours and he actually waited for me patiently to handle my check-in. He also introduced the usage of the electrical appliances and surrounding area. There was a highly popular (and recommended) restaurant called BBQ Tanjka around the corner. A fine dining restaurant, The Galion, was opposite the apartment. A supermarket, Idea, was a short distance away. The room was adequately large in size, with good arrangement of furniture (in fact, a luggage rack was provided, which was thoughtful). The bed was comfortable, with a thick blanket. The Aircon was working well. The bathroom was not exactly large, but did not felt cramp at all. The water heater worked well. In conclusion, a comfortable and well located apartment.

Lovely and super clean apartment units situated between the bus station and the old town. The owners are helpful and friendly. Go for the apartment with sea view if you fancy a larger space, a view of the body of water (with its yachts, a distant cruise ship or two) and do not mind people passing by. If you prefer more privacy, they have other units (no view, equally comfortable) just for that.

Gradska pijaca, located near the Sea Gate, is a bustling farmers market with two rows of stalls offering a variety of goods. The first row features trestle tables displaying patent-skinned olives, seasonal produce, and dried apricots arranged in garlands. It's a great place to wander around and immerse yourself in the vibrant local market atmosphere.

Since it's in the tourist heavy area, you will be fleeced (no prices advertised). But they do have a wide variety of good fresh produce. Useful if there's something you couldn't find at the supermarket but not a place to do your main shop.

The pizza restaurant Caffe Pizzeria Sapori is well known for its majestic food and nice atmosphere. The staff are kind and respectful, making the experience all the more enjoyable. The pizzas are delicious, and the prices are very reasonable.
Just needed to relax for a while and not be a tourist. This place has a wide range of coffees and food, all at reasonable prices. I had the Crepe Hazelnut and wow, unbelievable the taste and how much you get ( photo ). If you are a tourist, and you want to get away from being a 'tourist' - go to the shopping centre where I think many local people eat. Thank you.

Service and atmosphere is good as it is right in the middle of a mall. But food especially desserts are not up to the mark. I had Tiramisu and it tasted old and extremely oily (why oil in tiramisu!?). The tiramisu and cakes that were on display when I bought, after 5 days also same 3 pieces were remaining. May be locals are aware. Just go for fresh items like pizza and burgers here. Coffee was good.

Visited here 3 times. Once for a drink, once for lunch and once for dinner. Excellent service. Food was well priced and tasty. Nice little eatery in an air con small shopping centre. Preferred to eat here than the old town in the heat and crowds.

They do not have coke, only Pepsi. We ordered 7up and they brought us diet 7up. They do not have the regular kind. My burger was good. The spaghetti bolognese is tasteless. The spinach chicken pasta was tasteless. The 3,mushroom risotto was under cooked, but the mushrooms had a good taste, but the sauce was tasteless. I think the waitress was very annoyed with us being there, not friendly. The air conditioning worked great. The chairs were comfortable. Keep your receipt you can use it to access the toilet for free. I wish I just grabbed some street pizza and a coke.

Quite possibly the worst food I’ve had in motor so far. I ordered the Wok Chicken. It had 4 pieces of chicken in it (I pulled them to the bottom so you can see them) and the rice was wildly undercooked. Absolutely pointless meal.
Chloe E — Google review
Delicious food, nice staff, comfortable seats. I highly recommend the Caesar salad and the ham omelette. ★★★★★
Luis — Google review
The service was alright although the waitress didn’t ask if we wanted anything besides the 2 cakes we ordered. The cakes were homemade which is arguably good, but they lacked freshness, possibly 1-2 days old. The atmosphere was noisy, but that is to be expected in the middle of a shopping mall.

This place don't have the best location in Kamelija Shopping Center but the slim waitress with spectacles is very good, friendly, quick and efficient, too bad I didn't ask for her name but she is the only one there. This place has a small balcony with some seatings where you can open the windows for fresh air. I only have coffee and it's good and not expensive.

Fast food restaurant
King of Gyros is a popular spot located just a short walk from the old town, offering delicious classic gyros with tender and flavorful chicken. The tzatziki sauce is particularly amazing, and while the chips could be crispier, they are still quite tasty. It's a low-key place with great food that comes in generous portions at reasonable prices. While it may get a bit messy, the overall experience of enjoying their gyros is definitely worth it.
Great gyros here. Good balance of sauce and filling and we got fresh chips which were perfectly done. Got the larger size of the piquant and was massive. Prices look like they have gone up compared to previous photos

Located in beautiful place in Dobrova. Was walking by when i saw it, just could not resist gyros 😅 With chicken strong flavour, made in less than 2 minutes, tasty, soft, fresh 🤤 cost 6.5€ maybe a bit pricy for gyro that i used too, but still good quality quick pit stop with enjoyable views 👌

Absolutely DELICIOUS 6.50euro gyros in Kotor. If you want to avoid pretentious Kotor food then you need to go to this place. Looks pretty unassuming from the outside but this was one of the best gyros we’ve had in a long time. We opted for the chilli gyros and it was packed with flavor and deliciousness. Perfect balance of tasty meat, tzatziki, fries and tomatoes. Don’t forget to pair it with their homemade local raspberry juice from the cooler. We would definitely eat it again and again!
Barilee T — Google review
Maybe it sounds bit expensive - 7euro for a gyros. But this is the small one - and I was completely full and wanted to leave smth for later. Two tables outdoors. They have some cool drinks

One of the most delicious gyros I have had in the Balkans. Good price and quick service! Plaus, the views are incredible.
Sphoorti — Google review
The gyros are great. The restaurant has view on the beach. We didn’t really felt the difference between the king and the classic one though.

An amazing little gyros place in Kotor. The place is clearly popular as when we ordered we had to wait 20 minutes but the wait was absolutely worth it. The price is really good for Kotor and the food is exceptional. When our food was ready I went to pay by card but they were only taking cash. I said I'd be straight back but they told me to eat first and pay later. Incredible hospitality and service would definitely recommend King Of Gyros.

the food tasted good and was a good price but gave both me and my sister food poisoning, the guy working wasn’t wearing gloves and was touching his face and his phone and everything else while making the food so i’m not sure how clean everything was as well as putting the bread on top of the fry cooker after it was done on the grill instead of a plate or chopping board. he was super friendly but i think they need some more sanitary moves in place.

Restaurant
Located just a short stroll away from the Old City, Pizzeria & Grill Halal "Bucko" is easily accessible. The generous portion sizes make one meal sufficient for two individuals. If you're in search of delectable and halal cuisine, this establishment is the perfect choice. Their gyros, burgers, and traditional Serbian salad are all incredibly tasty. It's recommended to either take your order to go or dine in if you prefer.
Good portions and fast service at Bucko, the only halal outlet we could find in Kotor. The cheeseburger was the best item, very flavourful and large, much better than your average burger. Takeaway fries are twice the size of eat in for some reason. We visited twice the few days were in the town. Highly recommended.

This place is legit!! Came here 3 times in 2 days 😂 Also one of the cheaper places to find good food too. Service is also very good. Their spicy chicken gyros, and the chicken wings are delicious! Wings come crispy, and incredibly tender and juicy. Add some tzatziki to the gyros it’s so good

5 stars is definitely not enough for this restaurant. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. You definitely get a lot for your money, the portions are large, the taste is great, the restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly. Thank you.
M M — Google review
We chose this restaurant because it was halal. We ordered a hamburger, döner, and pizza. The hamburger was similar to those in school cafeterias, and the patty tasted like cevapi. The pizza was soft and made with low-quality ingredients. The döner was a complete disappointment; it had no flavor, and while it wasn't necessarily bad, it was tasteless—I couldn't eat it. The only good thing was the NEFES COLA. I definitely do not recommend this place.

Absolutely loved the food and the service. Me and my friend was in Kotor for 3 days, we had our breakfast, lunch and dinner from Bucko coz we loved the food, portion size and service so much😍😍
PRANAVE P — Google review
The pizza portion is big and the flavour is so yummy. We couldn't finish the burger and they helped us to pack the food nicely. The staff is friendly and polite. Definitely will come again.
Toni L — Google review
We took a traditional gyros and a cevapi. Gyros contains chicken. It was salty and not well mixed inside. Cevapi was okay. Service was slow.
Rugiyya I — Google review
We eat traditional gyros with pita bread. It was ok. Only cash was accepted.
