Cathedral
Catholic church
Saint Tryphon's Cathedral, located in Kotor, Montenegro, is a Romanesque Catholic church dating back to 1166. The cathedral houses a collection of gold and silver religious relics as well as stunning frescoes. It is one of only two Roman Catholic cathedrals in Montenegro and is dedicated to the town's patron saint. The cathedral has undergone several reconstructions due to earthquakes over the centuries but still retains its Romanesque architecture inside.
Saint Tryphon's Cathedral is located in the v center of the Kotor Old town. It was built in 1166 and one of Montenegro's picturesque sites. It has been reconstructed several times after several earthquakes. In the earthquake in 1667, the entire frontage was destroyed, it was reconstructed with addition of the baroque bell towers. Worth visiting it.
Soudamini M — Google review
Beautiful cathedral. Some of the paintings in the walls resisted the earthquakes and have an interesting orthodox style, very rare to see in a Roman Catholic church.
Luis A — Google review
Worth a visit. Lots of interesting artifacts on display including some 1200yr old human remains. A good view of the square
Richard W — Google review
Only €4 entrance per person (cash only), pretty cathedral with a small museum upstairs with balcony overlooking the square. It is very well maintained and a must see in Kotor old town.
Patrice O — Google review
This time we visit the Roman Catholic cathedral, one of only two in Montenegro. Built on the site of a church dating back to 809, it has never been completely destroyed, despite numerous earthquakes, and its structure has changed each time it has been rebuilt. The interior is simple, devoid of opulence, gold, or jewels.
Lucca T — Google review

Built on the site of the earlier church (809 by Andrija (Andreaccio) Saracenis), the cathedral was consecrated on 19 June 1166. Was seriously damaged and rebuilt after the 1667 Dubrovnik earthquake.
Vadim S — Google review
They charge a 4 euro donation to enter. They don't allow anyone without a guide to enter. Just in case, I returned two hours later, but still many people were unable to enter. They should just charge an entrance fee. And pay taxes, too.

Saint Nicholas’ Church is a Serbian Orthodox church in Kotor, built in 1909. It stands out with its twin domes and the Serbian flag displayed prominently. Unlike other Christian churches, it doesn't have pews and features an ornate iconostasis. Visitors can climb the bell tower for panoramic views of the city and the Bay of Kotor. The church also houses valuable religious artifacts and offers a mystical atmosphere with its impressive architecture.
This Serbian Orthodox church was completed in 1909. It replaced the previous church on this site which burnt down on Christmas Eve of 1896. There is a small stall on the left as you enter selling religious icons that are very well made and at a decent price.
Patrice O — Google review
St. Nicholas is a nice charming church of a solid looking structure on the outside and beautifully decorated on the inside, too. On the entrance, it felt like a souvenir shop than a church is my only complaint. There are some cute cats strolling around this church as well. Beautiful square and the incredible mountains all around.
Buster I — Google review
This Serbian Orthodox church was completed in 1909 replacing the previous church on this site which burnt down on Christmas Eve of 1896. Fairly simple inside but with a beautiful altar piece. There is a small stall on the left as you enter selling religious icons.

St. Nicholas Church is one of the most important religious landmarks in Kotor, Montenegro. Located in the heart of the Old Town, this Serbian Orthodox church was built in 1909 and stands out with its impressive twin bell towers and striking black domes. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful frescoes, ornate chandeliers, and a stunning iconostasis. The church is a peaceful place to experience Kotor’s spiritual heritage and learn about its diverse cultural influences. Entry is free, but remember to dress respectfully. Visiting in the morning offers a quieter experience, allowing you to fully appreciate its serene atmosphere.
Hsyn S — Google review
A suvenier shop and a church in the same room felt a luttle weird for me.. But the building is pretty from the inside and from the outside, and there are beautiful paintings on the walls.
Yonadav V — Google review
It is definitely worth visiting this over 100-year-old church, if only for its many icons (iconostasis).
Lucca T — Google review
Yep. I do not like this church. Although there is no entrance fee here, the biggest problem I see is they put the souvenir shop inside the church! Whatda? Being a church or so they call it Saint Nicholas' church, don't they read the bible? Please allow me to read that passage to refresh their mind, from the book of Matthew Chapter 21, verse 12 to 13 it says "And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called THE HOUSE OF PRAYER, but ye have made it a den of thieves". I think Jesus will definitely be disappointed with this church, and I also noticed that I see less of Jesus in this church and more of the saints. I hope by now, everyone should understand that no one is bigger than Jesus, and whatever happens Jesus loves you and with a love like that, you know you should be..... glad! Yeah (7x)

The Church of St. Nicholas in Kotor, Montenegro, stands as a striking Serbian Orthodox landmark in the heart of the Old Town. This church was rebuilt between 1902 and 1909 after a fire in 1896. Dedicated to the revered protector of sailors and travelers, this architectural gem blends Byzantine-Rashka influences with a great facade, ornate frescoes, and four massive canvases despicting the Gospel writers. It is a must-visit for those wandering the medieval streets.

The Maritime Museum in Kotor, Montenegro is a long-standing institution that offers a captivating insight into the town's maritime legacy. Housed within the elegant Grgurina Palace, this museum boasts an array of nautical history exhibits such as model ships, paintings, furniture, navigational instruments, maps and documents. Visitors can immerse themselves in Kotor's seafaring traditions and learn about its strategic significance as a bustling port during the Venetian and Austro-Hungarian periods.
Absolutely amazing, I definitely recommend visiting this museum, I had no clue that Montenegro used to be such a big port and have connections with other countries such as China! The boat models are stunning and charming, the weapons are so cool! The paintings are so beautiful! Definitely one of the most interesting places in Kotor!
Jovana — Google review
This is a quality museum. We usually visit all Maritime Museums and this is a wonderful museum with a good layout and good exhibits. Kotor and Montenegro has a maritime history to be proud. The museum is going to undergo a renovation apparently so may be different next summer. Be sure to take the audio tour because it makes the experience richer. It took us just over 2 hours with the audio tour. Lots of documentation from the early days to the World Wars. Not to be missed.
Phae D — Google review
The Maritime Museum of Kotor offers a fascinating insight into the history of this beautiful port city. If you’re into ships, sailing and everything related to life at sea, this is definitely worth a visit. The collection is varied, with ship models, old maps, uniforms, and maritime artifacts. There’s an audio guide available, but I only listened to it for the exhibits I found most interesting which worked perfectly. A great way to spend some time in Kotor and learn more about its seafaring past!
Kevin — Google review
Definitely the best museum in Kotor and as I was leaving at midday I was glad to see it had an early opening time of 8.00am. I hadn't realised that Montenegro had such a rich Maritime history; I had previously visited the Maritime museum in Dubrovnik, but this is far better & bigger. There are a large number of exhibits and some great paintings of the old sailing ships. There is a very good "weapons room" showcasing many long barrel rifles dating back to 17th & 18th centuries and I liked the display of navigational aids; Sextants, Octants, Chronometers and Inclinometer (tilt guage).
Miles M — Google review
This is a nice museum about the Maritime history of Dubrovnik. It takes you through different stages from the peak to the nadir of Dubrovnik’s navy. This museum is included in your city pass, it is quite small so maybe if you would have to pay the normal entrance fee it wouldn’t be worth your while. The whole museum it is only one room. It is also a little bit annoying that for many of the exhibits there is no English translation of their names of descriptions.
Nefeli P — Google review
Great museum for the maritime lovers to understand about the history of Kotor. Lots of artifacts and pictures on display. They provide audio guide as well as English descriptions on most items
J — Google review
We went to this museum on Saturday morning, in summer, not too much people. The ticket costs 6€ with the audio guide in different languages. In the Museum you mainly see the things related to Kotor and Kotor bey during last centuries. Overall nice museum, worthy to go in one time
Mkhitar G — Google review
Very interesting exhibition and description how one of the strongest ship cargo companies - Jugoocean, was destroyed by UN sanctions placed because of the civil war in Jugoslavia. Also recommend visit museum of money in Cetinje to get informations about the inflation from the same period (prices doubled every 16 hours!)

Saint Luke’s Church, also known as Sveti Luka, is a significant landmark in Kotor's old town. Built during the reign of the Serbian dynasty Nemanjic at the end of the 12th century, it originally served as a Catholic temple before becoming an Orthodox church in 1657. This transition reflects the cultural and religious shifts within Kotor's history.
Visiting this Orthodox church in Kotor was a truly special experience. Nestled in the heart of the Old Town, the church exudes a sense of history and tranquility. The ancient stone walls, beautiful iconostasis, and flickering candlelight create a deeply spiritual atmosphere. What struck me the most was the feeling of positive energy inside. Whether you’re religious or simply appreciate history and architecture, this church offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling streets outside. The rich Orthodox traditions, stunning frescoes, and the warm welcome from the caretakers made my visit even more memorable.
SHINTU S — Google review
Very small Orthodox Church next to the big one. This one also has an interesting history, just like many churches. Near the Kotor Cathedral. Very picturesque area.
Patrice O — Google review
• This church is one of the oldest surviving religious buildings in the region: constructed around 1195. • Architecturally, it blends Romanesque and Byzantine styles, making it interesting for those who appreciate historical church architecture. • It has a remarkable history of religious coexistence: originally built as a Catholic church, later shared by Orthodox and Catholic congregations (with two altars) before becoming fully Orthodox. • It survived major earthquakes (including 1979) largely intact, which is notable in a region with seismic risk. • Its location in the Old Town of Kotor (Trg Sv. Luke / Piazza Greca) makes it easy to visit while exploring the historic centre.
Amrit D — Google review
Saint Luke's Church in Kotor is a historically significant Orthodox church with these key points: * Ancient Origins: * Built in 1195. * Reflects a blend of Romanesque and Byzantine architectural styles. * Historical Significance: * Has a history of both Orthodox and Catholic use. * Holds important religious relics. * Architectural Features: * Contains well-preserved interior architecture. * Features notable iconostasis art. * Cultural Importance: * A key part of Kotor's cultural and historical heritage.

Nice cerkiew in the one of the main square. Orthodox church dedicated to St. Luke. It was built in 1195 at a time when Montenegro was under the rule of the Serbian ruler Stefan Nemania and his son Vukan. Nice to visit inside.

Very small and old Orthodox Church located inside the Old Town of Kotor. Free entry if you want to visit
J — Google review
The Church of Saint Luke stands as a poignant testament to interfaith harmony and medieval resilience in Montenegro. Constructed in 1195 during the reign of Stefan Nemanja as a Catholic sanctuary blending Romanesque and Byzantine styles, this modest one-nave structure miraculously survived desvastating eartquakes, including the 1979 quake that ravaged nearby buildings. From 1657 to 1812, it uniquely housed dual altars for Catholic and Orthodox worship, a shared space born from wartime refuge, with services alternating between faiths. Today, it is a Serbian Orthodox church.

The Kotor City Walls are an incredible sight to behold in the Old Town of Kotor. Standing for over 1200 years, these walls have withstood numerous earthquakes and serve as a testament to the town's rich history and the resilience of its people. Originally constructed in the 9th century, they have been continuously modified and improved until the 19th century. The fortifications offer stunning views of Kotor and are particularly enchanting when illuminated at night.
Walking the Kotor City Walls is an unforgettable experience that blends breathtaking views with a deep sense of history. The climb is steep and can be quite a workout, especially on a hot day, but the panoramic views over the Bay of Kotor and the old town below are absolutely worth the effort. Each step up the stone path feels like a journey back in time, with ancient fortifications, churches, and gates whispering stories from centuries past. Be sure to wear good shoes, bring water, and start early or later in the day to avoid the midday sun. It’s a must-do for history lovers, photographers, and anyone looking to experience the magic of Montenegro from above. Highly recommended!

Great place to spend an afternoon walking about. Several friendly stray cats around. Two wheeler parking just outside with plenty of spaces. Lots of cafes, restaurants, gelato/ice cream parlour working the city walls. Pleasant experience overall.
Merine A — Google review
Access to the city walls is free (as of 2025), and it’s really fun to walk around! The views are beautiful! If you want to go higher, up to the area near the church, the entrance fee is €15 per adult.
Eriko P — Google review
It is a good place to visit. The restaurants inside old town is over priced. There are some hidden jewels in souvenir shops specially the hand drawn paintings. Lots of cats which makes the place worth visiting if you are a cat lover. Overall a very nice vibe for a day’s outing.
Saikat A — Google review
Kotor’s Old Town Walls offers a lot of interesting shops and sights to see. Once inside, you can find a lot of restaurants and shops. Walk further close to the walls and you’ll find entrance points to walk on the fortress’s walls. There are a lot of hotels inside the area and navigating through them can prove to be a challenge especially if you have to drag with you your suitcase. The walkways are narrow and filled with tourists so be sure to check your timings. IMPORTANT NOTE: Parking is VERY difficult to find so make an effort to come to Kotor’s parking area very early to find a spot.

Defence walls of old town. Underneath is a defence channel full of fishes. You can go for a walk on the walls. Access is only from inside the town and it is free.

Definetely one of my favourite parts of Kotor (aside from Cat Park and Guardian Dog). Make sure to take a walk, it has a great view!
Andjela — Google review
We were out of season at the beginning of April It was a bit cold But it's just fun to walk in the old town on the walls, between the alleys, shops and cafes We also climbed from the walls up but it was under renovation so we weren't allowed to go all the way up for the trail There are all kinds of tourist hunters trying to sell a boat trip on the lake in the Bay of Kotor. It's nice, a bit long. Maybe in the summer it's nicer when you can get into the water and it's really cold in the boat. It's highly recommended to bring warm clothes Another thing we were off-season but it's very busy, very congested and hard to find parking so if you're coming by car it's a bit not recommended, it's quite a nuisance and a pain

The Kotor Cats Museum is a charming establishment in the heart of Kotor's Old Town, showcasing an extensive collection of cat-related artifacts and vintage artwork. Curated by Pierro Pazzi, a passionate collector from Venice, Italy, the museum features an array of cat memorabilia including postcards, antique advertising, coins, and posters.
With only 1 Euro, you can visit this cat museum, there’s a lot of cats related painting and art inside the museum!! Would definitely recommend my friends who visit Kotor to come here! All the souvenir are so cute as well;)

Very small museum with pictures of cats. Entrance fee apparently goes to feeding the cats of Kotor. In the museum shop you can buy pictures of cats standing in front of a certain WW2 landmark in Poland (can't name it or the review will get shadowbanned), comparing the EU to this landmark or if you find that too tasteless you could opt for a magnet of Ursula von der Leyen depicted as a certain German person
Koen S — Google review
It is a small but well organized exhibition of various pictures/stories/articles/prints involving cats. The little gift shop had a lovely selection of magnets and other items. I particularly liked that they support local efforts to help take care of the cities feline population. Cash only.

I just love cats. Its a Small and nice museum. It's so appreciated that they feed the cats of Kotor. Only 1€ for the tickets. Must visit if u have a cat pet. 🐈
Nishant P — Google review
A must-see for cat lovers! 🐾 This quirky little museum is full of feline charm – both in the exhibits and around the building. It’s small, inexpensive, and supports the local cat community. The postcards, vintage cat prints, and funny signs are delightful! Don’t expect a big museum – it’s more like a cozy collection of cat-themed nostalgia. And yes, you’ll meet a few real cats hanging around the entrance or basking in the sun! No waiting time, perfect for a quick and charming stop in Kotor Old Town. Definitely worth a visit – especially if you’re traveling with kids or just a cat person at heart.
Gurmatik — Google review
The Cats Museum in Kotor gets a lot of hype, but our experience was disappointing. Yes, it’s inexpensive (1 euro) and some describe it as “well organized,” but what you actually get are two small rooms of cat-themed odds and ends like postcards, stamps, magazine clippings, and advertisements. The second room feels like a repeat of the first. There’s little depth, and overall it felt forgettable. The biggest letdown, though, was the gift shop. While some visitors may enjoy the magnets and trinkets, we were shocked to see posters in bad taste. Offensive items like that don’t belong in any museum, one where children and families visit, let alone one supposedly celebrating cats. It's in really bad taste. On the positive side, we did notice they support local efforts to feed and care for Kotor’s street cats, which is good to see. But honestly, if you love cats, you’ll have a much better time enjoying the real ones roaming the old town. The museum? Not worth the stop.
Joseph P — Google review
Very small museum of cats in articles and images. €1 entry and a small gift shop. Perfect to support Kotor's cats
George L — Google review
I had a lovely trip to the Kotor Cats Museum in June 2023. I was charmed by the quirky nature of fhe establishment which provides support to the multitude of (generally healhthy, happy, and well looked after) vagrant cats which reside in Kotor. The museum is small but oozes character; there isn't a spare inch on it's walls which are decked out with a vast range of depictions of cats engaging in a wide range if both contemporary and historical behaviours traditionally reserved for humans. A few personal favourites include Mewsi and Purnaldo, paint me like one of your french cats, and a depiciton of a ritual/torture style castration of a cat as if it were taking place in medieval England (all pictured below). Alongside this humour, there are a range of historicalky significant graphics which feature our furry feline friends - such as a WW1 propaganda piece by the Belgian armed forces depciting Germany as an evil cat assailant poised to do combat with the Belgian mouse (also pictured below). All in all this place is a great place to spend 20-30 minutes for cat lovers, art appreciators, and sports nuts alike.

The Clock Tower of Kotor is a prominent landmark located at the southern end of the main square in the Old Town. It serves as a popular meeting point due to its central location and is surrounded by numerous restaurants and cafes. The tower, built in 1602, features a unique blend of Baroque and Gothic architectural elements.
The Kotor Old Town Clock Tower is one of the most iconic landmarks in Kotor, Montenegro. Located in the heart of the medieval Old Town, this historic 17th-century tower stands proudly in the main square, near the entrance gate. Its slightly tilted structure adds to its charm and history, making it a great spot for photos. While exploring, take time to enjoy the surrounding Venetian-style architecture, cozy cafes, and vibrant local markets. Visiting in the early morning or late afternoon will allow you to experience its beauty with fewer crowds. Don’t forget to explore the nearby fortress walls for stunning panoramic views of the Bay of Kotor!

We visited Kotor for the first time on a cruise in the Mediterranean. Had to take the tender from the ship to the dock. We then self guided our tour using Google maps and my research. The Clock Tower in the Armory Square is beautiful and well restored. Lots of activity in the Square with many choices for coffee and food. We did not have time to go inside the tower but did enjoy looking at the outside.
Perry H — Google review
The Kotor City Clock Tower is one of several landmarks in the town of Kotor. Construction of the Baroque and Gothic styled clock originally began in 1602. It was subsequently rebuilt in 1979 following an earthquake. The Clock Tower serves as a good meeting point for tourist group, friends and families who came to visit the city and decided to break up to wander on their own and then to meet again later. Grateful for the opportunity to be here.

Beautiful main square when you enter from the Seaside Entrance Gate. The Sea Gate (West Gate) entrance, you will immediate come across an attractive town square with an old clock tower. Construction of the Baroque and Gothic styled clock originally began in 1602. It was subsequently rebuilt in 1979 following an earthquake.
Buster I — Google review
The Kotor Clock Tower is... fine, but nothing special. It’s one of the main landmarks in the old town, but honestly, it’s just a basic clock on a worn-out stone tower. No access inside, no real information around it, and not much to engage with besides snapping a quick photo. It sits in the main square surrounded by touristy restaurants, so you'll probably pass by it anyway—but it's hardly worth going out of your way for. For something that’s supposed to be a highlight, it felt pretty underwhelming. Just another old structure in a town that doesn’t offer much beyond surface-level charm.
H U — Google review
Standing since 1602, it was rebuilt after the 1979 earthquake. It formerly served as a place for the presentation of prisoners and their public ridicule. It undoubtedly stands out in the square.
Lucca T — Google review
• The tower is not an extensive attraction with interior tours for most visitors. It’s primarily an exterior landmark rather than a museum or vantage platform. Many reviews say “worth a quick photo rather than a long stop”. • Because it’s in the main square and close to cruise-ship docking points, it can get crowded, especially when many tourists enter the Old Town at once. If you want a quieter experience or unobstructed photos, go early morning or later in the afternoon. • As with many old historic towers, the neighborhood around it is a preserved “old town” environment — the ground is cobbled and the space is busy, so if you have mobility concerns or luggage, be mindful of the surface and traffic. • Since it’s a landmark rather than an “experience” with amenities, it is best combined with other nearby visits (Old Town walk, city walls, cathedral) rather than being the main reason to visit Kotor.
Amrit D — Google review
Such a beautiful clock tower right past the entry gate. Be sure to say hello to the cats that seem to run the city. The cats are very friendly. I'd recommend coming during the off-season, like we did. It's a small town and I could imagine it being very crowded during the summer.

The fortress, built over 1,000 years beginning in the 9th century, showcases various civilizations and architectural styles.
I did this climb in April 2024. I started around 10:15 am. It was not too crowded on the way up, and it was cool when I started. The fee is now 15 Euros. The climb is steep and steady. There are stone stairs most of the way up. The view is worth the effort. Bring some water to begin, and there are a few vendors selling water about 2/3 up and also at the top. Climbing down, there were more people coming up, so will need to pass people on the stairs. In total, it took me around 3 hours, up, down, and exploring the fortress.

Took the free path which was even more comfortable than the 15€ stairs. Had to climb through a gap in the wall which was a lot of fun and not really that dangerous. Once we got to the top we had a beautiful view, the castle itself was a ruin ofcourse but still lovely and a bit maintained.
Yannick M — Google review
The hike is a bit tiring, especially in the sun, but the view from the top is really beautiful and totally worth it. You can see the whole bay and the rooftops of Kotor, it feels peaceful and magical up there. On the way up, there are old walls and little ruins that make it feel like you’re climbing through history. The path is mostly stone, so good shoes help. I’d recommend going early in the morning or before sunset when it’s not too hot. Don’t forget water!
Alisa M — Google review
The views from the top were absolutely stunning. The climb on the other hand is not for the faint of heart. It includes steep stairs, slippery stones, no railing and deep abysses. Truly an adventure but a bit risky too. Also a bit pricy with a fee of 15€ (July 2025), but I didn't regret it considering the view (Maybe the fee could be used for better upkeeping?!). Would do it again.

Great hike. Can do it for free from ladders of kotor. Amazing views at the top. Steep hike and gets hot I recommend going early in the morning

Entrance fee is €15 for the abandoned ruins. The view is not spectacular. You can see the old town of Kotor from here. It’s not worth going up to the fortress. The best view for taking pictures of Kotor is actually on the pathway after the Our Lady of Remedy church.
A T — Google review
The fortress is located 923m above the city and its walls extend for 4 km. On the panoramic trail you can enjoy the view of the Bay of Kotor.Apart from the beautiful view and fascinating architecture, everything else is the remains of time, human destruction and earthquakes.

The Church of St. Mary Collegiate, dating back to the 13th century, is a significant religious site in Kotor's Old Town. It was constructed on the foundation of an ancient Christian church and features alternating rows of delicate pink and grey stone. The church also boasts a beautiful tall Bell Tower that can be seen from outside the fortress walls. Visitors can explore its interior for a fee, which grants access to medieval and Renaissance religious artifacts within the museum.
The entrance to the museum costs 4€. At first we wouldn't pay for it, but then we read a comment here that persuaded us, that that is a good use of money. I haven't regretted this, as there is really something to see, especially if you are interested in Medieval and Renaissance history of religion.

How to Spend Time The St. Tryphon Cathedral, built in 1611, is in a lovely spot in Kotor that is likely to be noticed by tourists in the Old Town. The question is whether to spend the 2.50 Euros to go into it. We did. It's pretty, with lots of art and religious items in glass cases and on the wall. We were able to climb to the second floor and look out at the crowd from the balcony, but the towers were not accessible. Some other tourists had guides that seemed to be drawing out the experience with an abundance of details. It was a worthwhile half hour for us.

Palata Bizanti, formerly known as Beskuca's family home, has been owned by the Bizanti family for centuries. Situated near the main city square, it underwent reconstruction in the 17th century following an earthquake. Despite its size, the facade lacks elaborate stylistic embellishments except for the family coat of arms above the main entrance. It is not accessible to visitors.

Kotor Bazar is a vibrant marketplace where you can immerse yourself in a kaleidoscope of colors and flavors. The chatty sellers offer an array of products, from kitchen supplies, flowers, cheese, fresh milk, vegetables, fruits to homemade jams. Handcrafted items like wool socks and traditional Montenegrin goods are also available. The bazaar is built using parts of the old wall and offers countless souvenirs for travelers to take home a piece of Kotor with them.
Lots of great little shops. I found a bag I purchased at a very reasonable price.

It's OK, interesting to wonder through and the old town is truely beautiful, but many of the shops are just over priced tat. Lots of knock offs which are mostly €150+ which I found insane considering they're fakes. Granted some are good quality but they're still fakes.

Ok, it was more browsing and sightseeing than acutal shopping. But this place - small as it is - has its charm. A good number of stalls selling mostly arts and crafts...and some cheaper tourist fare. Some items looked real nice, but - especially for Montenegro - prices are quite high and most items are just for decoration (something were aren't that much into). But even without purchasing anything, it's just a nice place to spend a half-an hour or so. Compact, charming ... have a look.

Huge disappointment unfortunately. Waste of time, as the potential of this place is wasted. I was hoping for some artisan goods, hand made souvenirs or something locally made. What I saw there was just a bunch of random stuff, cheap, mass made "souvenirs" and so on. The only thing that was maybe worth some attention were some dresses and sandals but I was so disappointed by this place that I left five minutes after entering.

Kotor Old Town is a place that transports you to the Middle Ages with its well-preserved historical architecture and charming atmosphere. The area is filled with old buildings where you can sense the lived experiences of the past. When visiting Kotor, getting lost in its narrow alleys, admiring the design shops, small cafes, and churches is a must. The town offers a wonderful view and an opportunity to immerse yourself in its undeniable charm and rich history.
The Old Town of Kotor is an enchanting labyrinth of history, culture, and breathtaking scenery, nestled within the imposing medieval city walls that stand proudly against the rugged backdrop of Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a true gem of the Adriatic, offering visitors a rare blend of Venetian architecture, narrow winding streets, and a palpable sense of timelessness that transports you back centuries. Stepping through one of the fortified gates, you immediately find yourself immersed in a maze of cobblestone alleys, hidden piazzas, and charming stone buildings with red-tiled roofs, each telling stories of a rich past shaped by Roman, Byzantine, Venetian, and Ottoman influences. The Old Town feels like a living museum where every corner is steeped in history and artistry. At the heart of the town lies St. Tryphon Cathedral, an exquisite Romanesque masterpiece dating back to the 12th century. Its twin bell towers and intricate facade command attention, while inside, the cathedral houses beautiful frescoes and relics that reveal the spiritual and artistic heritage of the region. Nearby, the Maritime Museum offers fascinating insight into Kotor’s seafaring legacy, showcasing ship models, navigational instruments, and historical artifacts that reflect the town’s vital role as a maritime hub over the centuries. What makes Kotor’s Old Town truly special is its harmonious blend of grandeur and intimacy. The main squares—such as Trg od Oružja (Arms Square) and Trg Sv. Luke—buzz with local life, filled with quaint cafés, artisan shops, and vibrant markets where you can sample regional delicacies or browse handcrafted souvenirs. Yet just a few steps away, the narrow backstreets offer peaceful solitude, shaded by ivy-draped walls and dotted with hidden courtyards and quiet churches. For photographers and travelers alike, the Old Town’s stone textures, colorful shutters, and dramatic light filtering through narrow passages provide endless inspiration. Climbing the ancient city walls to the fortress of San Giovanni rewards adventurers with panoramic views of the bay’s shimmering waters and the sprawling rooftops below—a breathtaking perspective that captures the full magic of Kotor. Unlike many tourist hotspots, Kotor’s Old Town manages to maintain an authentic and unpretentious atmosphere, where history lives alongside everyday life. Visitors can enjoy wandering for hours, discovering tucked-away chapels, stopping to listen to street musicians, or simply soaking in the unique ambiance of a town that has withstood centuries of change yet remains undeniably vibrant. In sum, Kotor’s Old Town is not just a destination but an experience—an evocative journey through time wrapped in stunning natural beauty, architectural splendor, and the warm hospitality of Montenegrin culture. It’s a place that stays with you long after you leave, inviting return visits to uncover even more of its treasures.

Kotor Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful medieval towns in the Balkans. Enclosed by ancient stone walls and overlooked by the dramatic mountains of the Bay of Kotor, the town feels like stepping back in time. Its narrow cobblestone streets, charming squares, historic churches, and Venetian-style architecture make it a perfect place to wander and explore.

Kotor is a very beautiful medieval Mediterranean city, which I love very much. It has a special atmosphere, with narrow streets, terraces where you can eat a lot and very tasty, with chic shops and kittens everywhere. The Bay of Kotor is one of the most beautiful in the Adriatic. My heart remained there forever. I have visited it a few times and whenever I have the chance I will go back.

The old town of Kotor is truly special – charming, atmospheric, and full of history. Narrow streets, stone walls, and the dramatic mountain backdrop create a unique vibe. It’s worth visiting at sunrise, when it’s quiet and almost empty – that’s when the true magic of the place comes alive.

From the moment the tour started in Kotor’s Old Town, Marco brought the city’s rich history to life with stories, humour and local insight you just can’t get from a guidebook. He was friendly, professional and clearly passionate about his home — whether we were wandering the charming streets of Kotor, boating out to Our Lady of the Rocks, or exploring the beauty of Perast, Marco made every moment memorable. He also gave us great tips (including where to get the best gelato and local rakia 🥃), and knew all the best photo spots for those jaw-dropping views. The Church of Our Lady of Remedy, also known as the Church of Lady of Health, is a significant site in Kotor with a compelling history. It was constructed by sailors who survived a storm and attributed their survival to the intercession of the Virgin Mary. The church is part of Kotor's Old Town, which has been occupied by various civilizations throughout history. Visitors can explore sections of the old town wall, including bastions and towers that offer panoramic views.
Perfect view of Kotor. We arrived just in time for sunset and it was really beautiful. The climb up the stairs is a bit difficult but when you get to the top and see the whole bay, you relax.

A great spot to see overview of Kotor. It had an entrance fee of 15 Euros which I think was overpriced. The church on top was closed and I think it does not operate anymore. There are a lot of ruins in the area and the climb to top was really hard and dangerous. The route lacks safety barriers that will prevent a person falling off the edge of the cliff. It lacked directional arrows also so most of the time you will get lost or wandering around due to multiple passages that will lead to a dead end or back from where you are. There is a stairway but it is too narrow as it can only fit 1 person at a time so you will end up climbing on the rocky paths if you meet someone opposite your way. I do not recommend this for old people specially when the sun is scorching hot. I did not see any comfort rooms also and that is maybe the reason why I can smell urine almost everywhere, people just have to relieve themselves on hidden areas due to the absence of comfort rooms. I hope they improve this place, for the price they charge for the entrance fee, they should start renovating the place by keeping it tidy and removing the vandalisms.

What an amazing hike we did and had a rest in front of this church. It provided us a great shade and nice breeze coming from the bay. It was worth a climb. The gov’t should develop this site. Need more restrooms and resting areas so people can enjoy the hike and view more. Clean the areas where people relieved themselves as you can smell it from afar and it’s not very nice. You don’t want to be put of just because of this. Catch the people who do the vandalism and littering.

Church of Our Lady of Remedy – Kotor’s Sky-High Sanctuary Halfway up the 1,350-step fortress trail, the tiny 16th-century Church of Our Lady of Remedy clings to the cliff like a prayer carved in stone, its ochre bell tower rising solitary above a sea of cypress and golden fig. Built by grateful sailors who survived plague and storm, this humble chapel offers no grand nave—only a cool, shadowed interior where candlelight flickers on faded frescoes and the Virgin’s gentle gaze meets the breathless pilgrim. Step outside and the reward unfurls: Kotor’s red-tiled labyrinth spills beneath you, cradled by the fjord’s mirror-calm waters and the jagged embrace of Lovćen. At sunset, the sky ignites in rose and amber, and the church bell tolls once—soft, silver, eternal—reminding every heart below that grace is found in the climb. Bring water, wear good shoes, and let the view steal your breath twice.

My recent visit to the Palace of Drago Family (Палата Драго) left me utterly captivated by its historical grandeur and timeless beauty. This splendid palace is a testament to a bygone era, offering visitors a chance to step back in time and immerse themselves in its rich heritage. One cannot help but be awestruck by the palace's architectural magnificence. From the moment you approach its regal façade, you're greeted by intricate detailing, ornate facades, and an air of aristocratic elegance. The palace stands as a proud sentinel of history, preserving the cultural and architectural legacy of its time. Upon stepping inside, I was transported into a world of opulence and refinement. The interior of the palace is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, with every room and corridor telling a story of the Drago family's prominence. Lavish chandeliers, sumptuous furnishings, and priceless art collections make each corner of the palace a treasure trove of history and culture. One of the most enchanting aspects of the Palace of Drago Family is its meticulously manicured gardens. These sprawling green spaces provide a serene oasis in the heart of the city, inviting visitors to stroll amidst fragrant blooms, sculpted fountains, and serene pathways. It's a tranquil retreat that offers respite from the bustle of modern life. The palace's location is also worth noting. They are passionate about sharing the palace's history and ensuring that every visitor has a memorable experience. In conclusion, the Palace of Drago Family (Палата Драго) is a true gem that transports visitors to a world of refinement, history, and beauty. Its architectural splendor, cultural significance, and serene gardens combine to create a truly unforgettable experience. Whether you're a history buff, an art lover, or simply seeking a moment of respite in an opulent setting, this palace is a must-visit destination. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a taste of royal elegance and a journey through time.

The Ruins of St. Nicholas Monastery encompass a modern church, completed in 1909, which was built on the site of a former Dominican monastery and a small Orthodox church. The surrounding area also features a charming market, adding to the allure of this historical site.

360 Monte offers a variety of tours in Montenegro, including the Great Montenegro Tour and private tours to Kotor, Perast, Budva, Ostrog, and other attractions. The company is known for its accommodating and communicative staff who ensure that visitors have a memorable experience. Customers have praised their guides for being knowledgeable and engaging storytellers. Despite some tour cancellations, guests appreciated the effort made to reschedule and accommodate their needs.
My boyfriend and I did the Great Montenegro Tour with Nina and it was amazing!! She was very knowledgeable, funny, and maintained good vibes throughout the whole tour. She recommended things and had stories as both a tour guide and a local, which was much appreciated since we didn’t want to be set up in tourist traps. Best part, Nina is an amazing photographer!

360 Monte offered a great range of group trips and excursions; we did their Montenegro Grand Tour and it was excellent. Taking in lots of inland, mountainous sights and historic towns including breakfast and lunch, our knowledgeable, passionate and good humoured guide Igor (Iggy) was a real bonus, providing lots of great insights into the country. The tour company kept us informed throughout and were great even when our original trip was postponed due to an overnight storm.

We had a great day touring through the North of Montenegro. Nadia our guide was great, very informative and passionate about her country. We learnt a lot about the Montenegro history and culture. Dragon our bus driver was amazing, manoeuvring the bus through very windy roads, especially the road up to the Ostrog Monastery, what an amazing place, that was, definitely a highlight of my time in Montenegro. The breakfast and lunch stops were in really nice places, the scenery during the trip was amazing. I would recommend this tour.

We have just done two tours through 360 Monte - the Great Montenegro tour and North Montenegro. Both were long days but excellent. There were plenty of photo stops along the way plus both offered lovely and diverse scenery and experiences. It's a very effective way to see a lot of the country in a short amount of time. Booking was easy, office staff friendly and helpful, communication clear, the vehicles comfortable and chosen breakfast and lunch stops very good value and quality. The thing that stood out for us though - and what made both tours great were the excellent tour guides. With a large group for the North Montenegro tour, we had both a driver Dule and guide Igor. Dule was a fantastic driver, particularly on those hair pin serpentine roads. On the Great Montenegro tour, we had Slavko as guide/ driver as we had a smaller group. Both Igor and Slavko were organised, clear communicators, knowledgeable, personable and told Great stories. They went out of their way to make the day fun and memorable.

I did the Great Montenegro tour because the weather in North didn’t permit. Oh man, the itinerary was packed with all the best stops with interesting facts and backgrounds. 12hr tour felt like a very gratifying experience! Especially if you don’t drive and only have a short stay, this is a no brainer

We had a fantastic tour of Durmitor from Kotor with a lovely guide Vania! The locations were spectacular, the tour was very thought through, the bus was air-conditioned, the group not too big, so easily managed, locations for food were really good for price/quality ratio, and Vania's stories and facts were a cherry on top - well timed, very interesting, educational but not boring at all. Overall, this tour was amazing, we had a great time, would highly recommend.
Anastasia P — Google review
Very long day travelling but worth it to visit different areas of montenegro. We did the North montenegro day trip. Nadja was fabulous guide & amazing driver on extremely narrow & windy roads , wish I could drive as well as her. She was upbeat & friendly & passionate about what she does. Black lake beautiful. Everything was well planned & ran like clock work. Just wish we had the full 45mins at ostrog monastery as 30mins seemed a little bit rushed as this also included your toilet stop. The place we ate at for lunch was lovely especially the stuffed roast peppers. Definitely recommend this tour.

Worth the time and money! I booked the North Montenegro tour with 360 and the entire experience was easy, smooth, and memorable. Our guide, Vanya, was a delight and took great care to make sure everyone had a good time. She explained the history and importance of all places we visited. She took so many *good* pictures of me — which I appreciated as a solo traveler. The sights were phenomenal — I will never forget the Piva Lake, Durmitor National Park, Black lake, Tara bridge and the Zipline.

St. Paul's Church in Old Town Kotor has a rich history, originally built as a Romanesque church and later reconstructed. The church features fragments of 15th-century frescoes and serves as a museum showcasing ancient artifacts found in the area. Visitors can explore digitally restored portraits of ancient people and learn about the Blessed Ossanna. The church also offers accessibility with a lift for disabled individuals.
A really interesting exhibition about work done to photograph and research the caves in the area around the bay by geographers in the early c.20. The colourised photos are especially lovely. The use of the old church is also a great touch. Maybe not worth the individual entrance cost, unless it’s especially in your field of interest, but the bundle ticket with the two other sites in Kotor and two others nearby along the bay (5 sites for 15€) made it reasonable to us!
Amy W — Google review
Nice church from the outside in a beautiful square overlooking the mountains but 5 Euros to see few things, not worth the toyrist trap admission price!!!
Buster I — Google review
Nice museum though a very small one. The exposition is basically the church itself, a lot of stones and some old building elements lying outside. Inside of the church you can see gypsum (?) copies of several pieces found in the tumulus like jewelry and a spear. You can also look at digitally restored portraits of ancient people whose remains were found on the tumulus. Good news are: for 5€ you get tickets for 3 places: this church + 2 more museums located also in the old town.
Oksana A — Google review
Its nice to stroll around if you are into history and museum. Dont expect an impressive and ancient church for this. Compared to other churches in Europe, this one is pretty so so.
Trang N — Google review
If you want to spend 5€ for 10 minutes of your time you could visit this place. I won’t reccomend it because there is very little to see and taking the price into account the value for money is horrible. Sometimes they think they could charge the tourists every price, they will still pay. It looked like museum from outside, the only thing you can see is the inside of the church. Totally not worth it. 0,50€ or maximum 1€ would be worth considering it.

We booked a return transfer from Podgorica Airport to Dobrota with Mont Travelers and we cannot recommend them highly enough! Our flight was delayed on the way out but our driver was ready and waiting to greet us with a smile on his face . We were given some great recommendations during our journey and even stopped once or twice for some sight seeing en route. It's safe to say our driver knew the best places to stop and took great pride in showing off the amazing country that is Montenegro! We didn't have much luck with flights and our return flight was cancelled an hour or so before our transfer was due to arrive. We were able to easily contact Mont Travelers and ask them if they could take us to Dubrovnik Airport instead of Podgorica. The answer was 'of course' and within the hour they had arranged an alternative transfer. Crossing over the border to Croatia can involve some lenghty queues at the border but our driver knew the back roads and got us over the border in a matter of minutes. Again this driver could not have been any more accommodating! We paid the agreed fee for our first transfer and the second transfer was charged as quote on the website - not extra charge for it being a last minute change/request. Having had a look around at their competitors, the prices that Mont Travelers charge are reasonable and worth every penny. Communication with Mont Travelers has been floorless thought and my sincere thanks go to Dimitrije for all his help. As and when we return to Montenegro and will certainly be booking with Mont Travelers again!

I discovered Mont Travelers when I was reading a Roll Call for a cruise that preceded mine and was also stopping in Kotor. I checked out Mont Travelers on Trip Advisor and after seeing a great rating, I contacted them. After numerous emails with Dimitrij and Aleks of Mont Travelers, I booked a customized private shore excursion for a group of 6 people during our stop in Kotor. Mont Travelers was flexible with the pick-up and drop off times and made sure we returned to the ship in a timely manner. We took their Best of Montenegro day tour, which a great introduction to Montenegro. Our guide Djordje (George) and our driver, Mladen, were waiting at the entrance to the port, a short walk from where the ship tendered. The tour climbed the mountains surrounding Kotor and that included negotiating 25 serpentine turns. Mladen was an excellent, considerate driver, who made sure no one got car sick from the many sharp turns. George was very knowledgeable about the political and religious history of Montenegro, and the people as well. The tour was filled with many opportunities to take picturesque photos. The tour had several stops. First, we stopped in the small village of Njegusi, where George took us into a restaurant's smokehouse and he explained the process of making prosciutto and we could see many smoked hams that were aging. We then went to Cetinje (built in 1482 and was the former royal capital of Montenegro), where we walked around the town and visited a small church. David pointed out many significant, well-preserved buildings there. Next, we headed for Budva. Along the way we stopped in Brajci, which had sweeping views of the Budva Riviera. Once in Budva we stopped for lunch and then toured the Old Town of Budva, which was had narrow cobble-stoned streets and an old church. Upon returning to Kotor, we had a guided tour through the Old Town, an interesting walled city. Everyone enjoyed the tour, and I would highly recommend Mont Travelers if you travel to Kotor and Montenegro.

I booked transportation from Podgorica airport to a hotel in Ulcinj for one individual, my mother traveling on her own to meet some family members for vacation. My mother spoke extremely highly of the service she received. She compared it to being picked up from the airport by a family member. I would also add the cost for only one individual was very reasonable.

The Square of the Armoury is a captivating historical site in Kotor, steeped in rich heritage. Once the location of the Dominican monastery of St. Nikola, established around 1545, this square has witnessed significant transformations over centuries. After being abandoned by the late 18th century, it found new life when part of its space was repurposed for an Orthodox church during Napoleon's rule—a testament to Kotor's spirit of religious harmony.
(Translated by Google) Almost all tourists who visit this beautiful historic city pass through the Square of Arms. The town of Kotor is preserved in its medieval form, although it is much older. It is also a unique place due to its location at the end of the deep, indented bay of Boka Kotorska. The bay is surrounded by high mountains and thus resembles the Nordic fjords, which adds to the picturesqueness of the city and its surroundings. The city has also experienced worse times. For example, it was severely damaged by an earthquake in April 1979, and repairs progressed slowly for many years. This church is simple and yet beautiful. It also has no entrance fees. You can light a candle on their altar inside for 0.50 Euro each candle. There is a donation box by the entrance. Taking of pictures and videos are prohibited and yet people are still taking videos and pictures just like me. At least I share these pictures and videos for free.
