Pub
The Winter Gardens - JD Wetherspoon is a spacious pub housed in a 19th-century building, featuring high ceilings and potted plants. Located in Low Harrogate, it is surrounded by the beautiful grade II listed Valley Gardens spanning 17 acres. The gardens are meticulously maintained and offer a serene setting for leisurely strolls. The venue is known for its Cask Marque Accreditation and being family-friendly.
Great public park with little cafe's and areas to rest. Wheelchair friendly. Don't miss it if you're in Harrogate. The bandstand had a concert while we were there. Great play areas for kids, Japanese water garden

A Beautiful Venue with Infuriating Service – Our Honest Experience at The Winter Gardens The Winter Gardens in Harrogate is visually stunning, but the service left a lot to be desired. Despite the menu clearly showing two different prices for the burger meal—one that includes a soft drink and one that includes an alcoholic drink—the staff never indicated which option they were putting through at the till. This meant that even though we were entitled to a drink, it never arrived. When we asked about it, the manager placed the blame on us for not requesting it at the time of ordering, completely ignoring the fact that the menu’s pricing structure made it clear a drink was included. Even after admitting that the service was less than ideal, we were still asked to pay extra if we wanted the drink. In short, while the setting is gorgeous, the customer service experience was incredibly frustrating and left a lot to be desired.
Andrew G — Google review
Wetherspoon has pulled it out of the bag once again with this exceptional venue. Never mind the cheap beer and freezer-friendly food—it’s worth a visit for the building alone. Set in a beautifully restored former public baths area, the space is genuinely spectacular and full of character. A surprising gem that’s more about the setting than the menu.
Nicolas P — Google review
An incredibly beautiful branch from the chain. There are a great selection of cask beers and stock beers on offer, and service is friendly and pretty quick, even though it was a busy bar. There are a lot of tables inside and outside the bar and be prepared for a full pub.
Christopher L — Google review
Average sized carpark with pay and display, and very few disabled spaces. A nice looking pub, with a buzzing atmosphere. Friendly staff and even some of the customers were helpful. Nice food at Whethersoon prices.
Caroline F — Google review
The most opulent Wetherspoon's I have visited. In the old Harrogate Winter Gardens many of the beautiful original features have been kept in place including the staircase and windows. There's also a beer garden at the rear of the pub. Good value food and drinks as with all 'spoons.
Jean S — Google review
As Rocky might say to Adriana back in 1976. This is a contender ... for best Wetherspoons. An exceptional building. ( My other contenders are; Royal Hop Pole, Tewkesbury. The Waterend Barn, St Albans. The Palladium, Llanndudno. Jorvic would welcome other suggestions like Surbiton Coronation Hall. His favourite.) Casta says TEWKESBURY! I say St Albans. Lovely rear terrace. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular plus a Cask Marque. My Rudgate bitter was not on top form but £2.15 less 50p CAMRA discount is hard to beat for a pint.
MADDOGLEP — Google review
You dont always get what you pay for - sometimes you get more that you bargained for. Lovely pub. Tremendous building. Food was good for the price and the beer was very nice too. Staff were very efficient, very friendly. Its worth a visit even if you think you are too posh for spoons.

The Turkish Baths Harrogate is a must-visit in this famous spa town. This ornate Moorish-style bath house, built in the 19th century, offers a unique regime of relaxation and rejuvenation. The fully restored Victorian Turkish Baths boast Islamic arches, vibrant brickwork, painted ceilings, and terrazzo floors that add to its historic elegance. Staff are so friendly. It’s the baths and they offer treatments like scrubs too. Drink plenty of water as you go around. Look for the ghost in the changing area. Perfect mix of history and relaxation

WOW.. From start to finish my experience here was amazing, the staff absolutely impeccable, we made our booking with Jackie on reception, who couldn't have done anymore for me, she went above and beyond, what an amazing lady, Elouise was lovely too, she rebooked us in as we returned and changed the day, reception staff professional in every way.. What you need when entering a business is first class assistance and this certainly was world class.. The spa ladies in particularly Wendy, wow again, she was amazing, nothing was too much trouble, her personality was superb, her experience and knowledge made our experience so much more. There were other ladies working in different areas and all gave a smile to acknowledge me. I write this review with immense thanks to each and everyone in the Turkish Baths Harrogate they all made my experience truly amazing, you see I am a wheelchair user and this place was something I wanted to just try and do what I could do, I wanted to experience it, and it was so much more than I even imagined I could do. I ACTUALLY DID IT ALL..!!! This experience I shall never forget, I even shed a little tear of happiness that I actually did this experience, I was paralysed 8 years ago and never in a million years thought I would be able to do these things, I proved myself wrong, and did it.!! 😊 this will NOT be the only time I come here, this is now going to be my absolute special place and I will be returning as often as I can.. From the bottom of my heart ❤️ I sincerely thank everyone for my experience, and wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone, be it disabled or able bodied. If you think you can't do it, just try it, you'll be so glad you did, as it'll be an experience you'll never forget.. Fantastic value for money at just £27 for a 1.5-2 hour session.. Next time, I'm going for the soapy body scrub as well.. Thank you, thank you, thank you to each and everyone of you at Turkish baths Harrogate, for making this a dream experience ✨️

A lovely day from start to finish. We have been to the spa many times and love to go back to treat ourselves. We visited yesterday as an anniversary celebration. The thermal experience was a good as ever. The service from the staff was definitely worth a 5 star 🌟 review. All the staff were so nice but a couple were stand out..Craig was so welcoming and kind. What an asset to the spa! I then had a treatment with Georgina. The treatment was great and my skin feels fabulous now, but most of all, Georgina was a ray of sunshine 🌞. I felt uplifted x Thank you
Dianne B — Google review
Absolute magic! Clean, well organised, friendly staff. The interiors are a visual gem and work as intended. I came early and was collected for an excellent facial massage (given by Georgina). By the time I got back, the hot rooms had heated up fully and there were quite a few guests. The tone is very relaxing, the added extra being NO piped music, just voices and the sounds from the baths themselves. Total relaxation.

Fabulous place, very friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere, tiled and dark wood panelling. Provided with 2 large towels, there are a range of hot and cold showers with liquid soap/shampoo and conditioner. Moving through the various rooms was so relaxing. Lots of places to relax and not hugely busy (5.30pm on a Thurs evening). Highly recommend if visiting Harrogate.

My son and I had our first experience of a Turkish baths as he'd bought me a voucher for my birthday and we went together. It was wonderful. The surroundings are so beautiful, the staff were warm and friendly, and it was fabulous to go round the various rooms for steam and heat and the cold pool was so refreshing in between. I thought I would be self-conscious in a swimsuit but was very comfortable and can't wait to go again. Next time I'll try some treatments 😊
Julia H — Google review
It was absolutely wonderful, I just wish they'd reinstalled all of its original therapies for booking, you'd make a fortune, as it's definitely missing the hot bath that once was. However, wonderful to see history in use! What a piece of engineering and beauty! We'll be back! No pictures or videos as mobile phones are not allowed. Staff are equally fabulous and attentive! Nice little cafe and brilliant skincare ranges available too. Can't rate it enough, travelled 2.5 hours for the experience!
Miss D — Google review
Me & my husband visited the baths for our wedding anniversary this sept. We had always wanted to try them and was very excited to for our anniversary. I have to say the entrance was very modern and clean, but as soon as we entered the actual bath areas, it was dirty and gave us the London underground vibe. The 'Quiet Area' where the relaxing beds are, was loud, everyone talking, staff mopping up constantly, we was given our introduction in this area too, and so was everyone else in this area, and when we was using this area a member of staff came in shouting for another guest. Not to mention how uncomfortable the beds are, and the piles of dust ontop of the pillers on the walls & floating around. It was just not what we are used to when in 'relaxing areas' and definitely not relaxing. Onto the actual baths, I get that this place is ment to keep its Victorian Charm, but seriously it does need upgrading alittle. The shower area gave me the creeps, all in one area in the middle of the baths and these are used by people hopping in and out of the steam rooms/hot rooms and by people who are showering to leave for the day. And members of staff constantly walking round with mops. Towels thrown everywhere, very dark. Gives off prison vibes. The steam room was ok, but very small for the amount of people using it, I've always liked spreading out a little in a steam room, but theres no room for personal space at all. The hotrooms were ok, but the bath mats on the floor made my stomach turn alittle, thinking about how many sweaty feet had been on them without being washed, and it had a funky smell... The cold dip pool was probably the highlight of our trip, although it was quite small and with the amount of people getting in and out I felt dirty getting out of it. Would 100% not return, but I am glad we went if only to satisfy my curiosity.

Harrogate Convention Centre is a major conference and exhibition hub in the UK, featuring a 2,000 seat auditorium, 10 event halls, and meeting spaces. It contributes significantly to the local economy and attracts over 350,000 business visitors annually. The center also hosts world-class British and international acts in its auditorium. Additionally, it is conveniently located near various accommodation options such as B&Bs and budget-friendly hotels like Premier Inn Harrogate Town Centre.
Had a fantastic day at the convention centre for the First Lego League UK Finals. Being in the auditorium was a fantastic setup for the tables and being in a larger space for the pit areas downstairs worked very well giving teams more space around their pits to socialise and meet other teams.

I remember when this site was just an underground car park, and yet it was used for many years as an exhibition centre. This looks far more professional and is a vast improvement. It has car parking nearby and is just a short walk to Harrogate city centre. What a pity that getting into, and out of, Harrogate is such a slow process.
Kevin M — Google review
Great place to see a show. Seats are all placed with a good view of the stage. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bar facilities are available for pre show and interval drinks. Venue is always clean and tidy. Seats are comfortable in the auditorium. Could do with more seating near the bar area.
C S — Google review
I was here for the Country living Christmas Fair, and it's a good venue. Situated very centrally, near the Baths, with plenty of car parks on the vicinity. Last time I visited the food on offer was poor, but I was pleased this year to note they had really improved their offerings, and considering you're a captive audience, the prices were fair too.
Vicky L — Google review
It is a lovely venue for conferences that's for sure. Lots of entrances and exits to manage crowds. Spaces for all sorts of stalls. Hall could sit over 1000 people, not sure about full capacity. Toilets on different levels. It's also close to the Harrogate rail station. Lots of restaurants and hotels are dotted around and it is in the city centre. There is parking on site, but it's limited with varying charges.

Bettys Café Tea Rooms is a renowned and iconic establishment in Harrogate, Yorkshire, dating back to 1919. It has become a beloved spot for locals and tourists alike. The tearoom offers both formal afternoon teas and casual dining with a British menu. Visitors can expect an elegant setting with silver cake stands, fine china, and staff dressed in period costumes.
Our friend who lived in Harrogate for years suggested we go to Betty's for tea and it didn't disappoint! There was a line outside but it moved quite fast and we were seated within ten minutes. I got the club sandwich and my husband got the afternoon tea. Everything was yummy and looked fantastic! The service was stellar and the decor was very nice inside. We really enjoyed the afternoon there! I would highly recommend it.
Monica B — Google review
Bettys afternoon tea was a delight. Been recommended by many people in the Harrogate area, so I took the wife. She absolutely loved it. She had the raspberry tea and me, the coffee. Sandwiches were good, scones were great, make sure you ask for more clotted cream and jam, you don’t have to pay extra, the cakes were delightful. Could do with a couple more though 😋 Unsure if extras, like additional cakes and sandwiches are free, some people around were getting additional, we were offered an additional sandwich which we took and it was not added to the bill, which was a nice surprise. Stunning tea room, clean decor. Love pianist playing in the corner of he room is a beautiful touch. Service was great, very attentive. Lena looked after us well. Overall, a highly recommended experience if you’re in the area. You can book online or queue up outside in the huge queue that is there daily!
Craig B — Google review
We were blown away by the friendly customer service, all the staff were superb especially Karen who popped back to our table to ask if we wanted any more sandwiches cakes or tea, which were all delicious. We didn't feel rushed at all, seated in the Imperial room we had already booked ahead. The rooms decor was extremely beautiful and the piano playing created an unique background to this special occasion.
Paula T — Google review
My wife having ordered online previously and seen the shop when last in Harrogate over 3 years ago had suggested we go in. Whilst an orderly queue was formed outside, we patiently waited for about 5 - 10 mins. Inside we were seated and served by attentive and professional staff. Ok, so we only had sandwiches, hot chocolate and gooey fat rascals - they were by far some of the nicest we have had.
Michael L — Google review
A must visit when you are in Harrogate even if you need to queue. The wait is not long. Betty's has a very cosy ambience. The menu is extensive and makes you want to try many dishes. We decided on the English breakfast including the vegan option. Accompanied by a pot each of Betty's tea blend and Breakfast tea. The desserts were yummy too (Engadine Torte and the Fruit Tart).
Huisze S — Google review
great service from our waiters james and karen, with great food and a lovely relaxing atmosphere! very knowledgeable about recommending teas as well. we went for afternoon tea and one of our party didn’t eat pork, so they made a seperate lunch with more sandwiches to replace the pork ones.
Daniella — Google review
Queued around 20 mins to get in. Queue combers bring menus and a few little tasters from the shop which was nice. We got in and were given a table right in the window with peoples bottoms for eyes on us at all times. Maybe some privacy screening might be an idea. We were quite uncomfortable but staff were unable to help. The food and drink was nice, no complaints about quality and the price isn’t too bad considering. Staff are professional but rushed off their feet. Can’t help feeling they have jammed as many tables in as physically possible and you’re really paying for the name of Betty’s. The prices in the shop were extortionate. Won’t be rushing back. The location js ideal though with parking nearby and lots to do locally.
Lauren G — Google review
Thank you, Nema, for making my partner's Sunday breakfast birthday celebration so special. Betty's is a must-visit; I was initially unsure if it was worth it, but I'm glad I trusted the positive reviews and decided to go. The Christmas coffee, Christmas tea, and Rascal scones were fantastic! The store itself is definitely worth a visit. I personally wouldn’t enjoy sitting in the underground room, so I recommend waiting a bit longer to sit upstairs and enjoy the beautiful streets of Harrogate through the lovely view.

If you're looking for a vibrant spot to enjoy cocktails and good times, look no further than MOJO in Harrogate. This rock 'n' roll-themed cocktail bar is the ultimate destination for those who love a lively atmosphere filled with great music and delicious drinks.
Had the bottomless brunch on Saturday 01/03. Absolutely fantastic service from the two young women behind the bar (have forgotten their names because they just kept the Prosecco coming 😵😂); their attention to helping me with my stepdaughter’s birthday cake and being generally awesome was ace. Have been going to Mojo in Leeds for almost 20 years and the one in Harrogate since it opened and they just do not lose their edge. Love the whole vibe, keep going!

Quiet at 5.30pm on a warm Wednesday afternoon but that didn’t stop Greg from pouring a couple of fab marg’s & delivering them to us on the rooftop. Good drinks, good music playing and plenty of sunshine upstairs. An easy option for a social drink in town.

Step into the world of elegance and sophistication at Piccolino Harrogate, an upscale Italian restaurant with a contemporary interior. This beloved neighborhood gem offers classic Italian specialties in a timeless charm that invites you to savor an authentic culinary experience. The restaurant boasts a stunning rooftop all-weather terrace, perfect for enjoying quality food and drinks in one of Harrogate's most scenic settings. Wow - we had the most amazing lunch. The food was delicious and bursting with flavour. We were very impressed by the service - Ben was very knowledgable and hospitable. His cocktails were amazing too. Highly recommend anyone to visit and eat here.

Upmarket Italian Restaurant with all the classic dishes and more you would expect from an established chain. The atmosphere and service was top notch. I sampled some interesting cocktails, a delicious Calamari starter, and a rich tiramisu that melted in the mouth. I was not entirely convinced with the steak which was lacking in juices, flavour, and was a tad bit dry and tough. Will stick to the more 'traditional' Italian mains next time.

Great service as always, The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The bar staff let us sit in the bar while we waited for all the party to arrive. We ordered a bottle of Valpolicella, which was lovely and great value for money. We were hungry when we got to the table and ordered garlic bread as we were choosing our main meals. The waiter was brilliant and brought us the breads almost immediately. Brilliant night spent with friends. We will definitely keep going back.

We booked the roof terrace and private dining room for a wedding celebration. Everything was amazing and the whole team we dealt with from the first enquiry to collecting items the next day was amazing. Very considerate and attentive staff, they were excellent accomodating our needs, great with dietary needs and very helpful when we asked for anything. Jose in particular was a star. He is very good at his job and we couldn't have wished for anyone better to look after us. Thank you for excellent service at a lovely venue. 5 stars from us.

I loved it! We were seated at a table that was secluded from others, and the service was exceptional. The food was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful experience; we will definitely be back!

I had my 21st birthday celebrations here on the terrace and would 100% recommend, we shared a variety of different food of canapés and pizzas. Everyone commented days after the party how nice the food was. For the atmosphere it was amazing, really clean and a great space to party. We were able to connect our own music and play our own playlists. The staff were great, really welcoming and fast service. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

When we arrived one of our party was in a wheelchair and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful opening the doors and making sure that my friend was comfortable. They even changed our reserved table for a one that was easier to access the lavatories. We had amazing time and the Team couldn’t have done more for us. I would definitely recommend this beautiful restaurant to friends and family. Thank you so much

4-day trip to Harrogate & the surrounding area and we even went twice to Piccolino: The first time (passing by by accident) we were "invited" by the look of the dishes on the tables, sounding like fresh meals. With little hunger only, we only had the excellent starters and some dessert. Two evenings later we reserved for our anniversary and had the "full package". Great food, combined with excellent & friendly service!

British restaurant
The Ivy Harrogate Garden is a stylish and sophisticated venue offering all-day British fare in a luxurious setting. The restaurant boasts high ceilings, Art Deco features, and antique ornamental pieces, creating an elegant atmosphere for dining. Despite its ornate decor, the ambiance is informal and laidback, making it an ideal spot for brunch or evening meals. With a bar area and terrace garden, guests can enjoy modern British cuisine along with cocktails in gorgeously styled interiors.
Booked for my daughters wedding day brunch here and was not disappointed. The service was excellent, and the food was fantastic with a price tag that I was really pleased about. No parking was the only downside, and it was a little cold when the back patio doors were opened. The decor inside is gorgeous, and you can see why people flock here. It is very highly recommended if you're in the area and want quality food served by attentive well trained staff.

This was my first ever visit to an Ivy restaurant and to say i was amazed by the beautiful interior would be an understatement. The moment you walk in you’re greeted by staff who look after you very well throughout your entire meal. The food was on another level, i had the ossobuco which i was apprehensive towards at first but it was honestly incredible. When the staff found out we were celebrating two birthdays, they brought out two complimentary, birthday desserts!! Lovely atmosphere, fantastic service and top tier food!

I had the set breakfast which was generous and delicious (full English, croissant they kindly boxed up for my daughter) and a refreshing green juice. My mum had poached eggs and switched the muffins for sourdough. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you!

Great service, lovely interior and a fabulous menu. We both really enjoyed our meals and the mocktails were excellent too. We'd definitely return.

A fantastic night, we arrived early for cocktails at the bar before our meal, cocktails were absolutely delicious, really friendly and professional staff, they know their stuff!!! Meal was tasty, service throughout was impeccable. We were celebrating my birthday and they made it very special for me, thank you!

Ordered from the two course £20.95 Heritage menu, was known as the 1917 menu when I went there. The starter I had was very nice, fried truffle rice balls as I recall, tasted fresh and a decent portion size. I had a main course of shepherd's pie which tasted very nice however the portion size was just as big as my starter, if not slightly smaller. I appreciate it is a fixed price, two-course menu which may well have been why my portion size was small but I didn't order any sides because I was under the impression that the main would be slightly bigger than the starter which wasn't the case here at all and I left here still feeling hungry. Atmosphere in the restaurant was excellent, was very busy but the staff were great too, kept checking-in with us to make sure everything was OK which it was in terms of the quality of the food but not the portion size but that isn't down to the waiters so no point bothering them with that.

We came here for breakfast on the 6/10/25 and were served by the lovely Kiera. She was so warm and welcoming with plenty check backs and the food impeccably presented. This was a birthday treat for my mam and she added a nice touch by treating us to a little cake at the end. Thank you so much for your amazing service and food at the Ivy this morning and this really made our birthday weekend a one to remember.

Italian restaurant
Nestled on Kings Road in the vibrant heart of Harrogate, Gianni's Brio Restaurant and Pizzeria has been a beloved destination for authentic Italian cuisine since 1983. This bright and modern eatery is perfect for families, offering a warm atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. Now managed by Marco, the son of founder Gianni, who still plays an active role alongside his family members, this restaurant prides itself on accommodating various dietary needs.
This restaurant is amazing, the food is amazing, the service is friendly, it is sort of quiet around 8:50. The portions are perfect and shareable. It is wheelchair friendly with a ramp, and stairs. If you are planning Italian in Harrogate (or around), go here!

Excellent as always. The food here is always incredible, absolutely top quality dining and service. Honestly cannot recommend it enough, we live hundreds of miles away in Scotland but Gianni's is still our favourite restaurant.

I have to say I have been here before in the week when it was a little quieter. This time, it's a Friday evening to celebrate my wife's birthday. As ever the food was amazing we had liver and veal for mains both of which were spot on. But I have to say the service and the overall experience wasn't great. I had mentioned my wifes birthday in the online booking, which wasn't even referenced. It's a pity as you have an abundance of independent restaurants in Harrogate, so you would expect more.

Delicious food - from the bread and tapenade to the lovely ice cream and mango sorbet. Can particularly recommend the pistachio ice cream. The service was excellent and there seemed to be lots of locals enjoying their meals as well.

Food is excellent, staff are friendly and attentive providing excellent service. I've been going multiple times a year for the past 12 years and its always been fabulous. My mum is gluten free and they provide some excellent safe options for her with pizza and pasta able to be made gluten free.

It's a well established, friendly restaurant, with regular customers. There's a good variety of dishes on the menu, although not particularly good for vegetarians and vegans. I didn't particularly like the atmosphere, as it felt and looked too much like a canteen. The service throughout was great, friendly and efficient. Overall, the food was good, although nothing special.
Jamie B — Google review
This is a lively restaurant with excellent friendly service and great food- our large party had a range of pizza, pasta and other dishes - the pasta came out with especially favourable reviews! Service was considerate and friendly without being intrusive. Allergies and intolerance were dealt with swiftly and no fuss. The only reason for 4/5 atmosphere rather than 5/5 is that 2 members of out party have hearing loss and in this busy restaurant on a oeak Friday evening they found it a bit challenging- like they would in most other places! If you enjoy a noisy, lively atmosphere, this will be a perfect spot!

RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Harrogate offers specially designed gardens that showcase the Yorkshire landscape, featuring trails, a log maze, and charming tea rooms. The garden hosts engaging events like 'Under Your Feet,' where families can explore the world of mini-beasts and learn about underground wildlife's vital role in maintaining beautiful and healthy gardens. Visitors can also enjoy Forest School outdoor workshops and become Garden Detectives.
I visited over the weekend for the first time and it is an absolute gem; it was an unforgettable experience. Every section in the resort is designed for relaxation and experiencing nature. I particularly appreciate the exceptional staff on premise; I had an issue and they went beyond and above to look after me. The experience left a lasting impression and added a sense of luxury throughout my stay. I look forward to returning soon and creating more memories.

Loved it here. It was my first visit and the gardens are truly beautiful. Plants and trees are well established and currently displaying autumn colours in all their glory. Well worth visiting here. It's also worth converting your day ticket into an annual membership.

Went to go to bettys tea room as we had never been and WOW! Those pastries were out of this world. I had a vanilla slice which was the best I’ve ever had. Partner has a scone and he loved it. That had a lovely walk round the gardens and it was just stunning. The pictures don’t do it any justice.

What a wonderful place to visit, within walking distance of the centre of Harrogate! I came here on a coach trip, and stayed about two and a half hours. A lady at the entrance greeted us and gave us all a free map, which I found very helpful. Adult admission is £16.80 (it's £12.50 if you pre-book online), 5-16's get in for £5, and under-5's and RHS members go free. Lots of free parking. The garden is extensive, with well maintained tarmac and gravel paths, and a few hilly parts and steps, but most of it is wheelchair accessible, and you can hire a wheelchair or scooter at the entrance. Harlow Carr is a delight to explore, with colourful flower borders, a streamside walk, sandstone rock garden, lily ponds, a small lake, wildflower meadows, an arboretum, and much more. It all looked beautifully kept, the plants clearly labelled. I particularly loved strolling through woodland filled with lovely rhododendrons, azaleas, and other flowering shrubs, and relaxing on a swing bench among palms and exotic plants in the subtropical garden. There are plenty of wooden benches and shelters, picnic areas, toilets at the entrance and dotted around the garden, and a children's adventure playground and tree house in the woods. Three cafes, a garden centre and two gift shops. Betty's Tea House is the ideal place to chill: great view of the garden, and a good selection of drinks, cakes and sandwiches. The coffee was very good. Did not get to see all the gardens (you need at least three hours), but I thoroughly enjoyed wandering around them and getting close to nature. Will definitely come again!

Absolutely recommend. We got there by bus and there is a stop right off of the grounds which made it convenient. (Be sure to ask for the discount for not driving when you pay for entry. I think it’s 30% off for taking the bus or walking or biking). The cafe had a nice variety. The garden was extensive and so beautiful. Tons of space to lay out a blanket and enjoy the day. Def recommend staying for at least 2 hours (minimum) but you can spend the entire day here.
L M — Google review
This place is a gem! Judging by the car park a lot of people already know. As to be expected, the gardens were beautiful and more plants than you can shake a stick at. There is a Betty's cafe right at the entrance and another inside, the food is homemade and very nice. Staff are very helpful and pleasant. You can hire a mobility scooter if required. It seems a little pricey for entrance fee.....but where isn't? However they have a number of exceptions which can reduce the cost. Not knowing what to expect prior to entry my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. I would highly recommend.....go early!

Beauty and peace here at all times of the year. My kids love it. Well worth the annual membership if you live nearby as it's not cheap for a single visit. Staff are always excellent. Lots of good gift ideas in the shops.

A fabulous place to visit. We go every season so much to see and its wonderful watching the newer projects as they develop. Plenty of places to eat and drink at reasonable prices. Though if you want to splash out there is always an option to visit Bettys Tea room and shop. Play area for the children and plenty of seating to relax in.

Valley Gardens Harrogate is a renowned English Heritage Grade II listed park that showcases the vibrant floral beauty of Harrogate. Spanning 17 acres, it boasts colorful seasonal flower displays and features an Art Deco pavilion, a skate park, and a playground for kids. The park also offers various sporting activities such as tennis and golf. Valley Gardens holds historical significance as it was where many of Harrogate's springs were discovered.
I visited Valley Gardens alone and really enjoyed it. The tennis courts and mini golf made it fun and active, but the highlight for me was the beautiful Japanese Garden. It’s peaceful and perfect for a quiet walk. A great place to relax or spend a few hours outdoors

A short walk in Valley Gardens during a day out in Harrogate. It is a beautiful park that offers not only green area where you can have picnic, walk your dog, jog or have family time; it offers you a tranquil space with lots of flowers and plants where you can unwind and immerse yourself in nature's beauty. The park has well maintained grounds, you can visit Japanese Garden, New Zealand garden, woodlands or be active and spend some time at boating pool, skate park, tennis court, crazy golf, paddling pool or playground. Whatever you decide to to, the place has something to offer to everyone. If you need some refreshments, there is a cafe and refreshments spot next to Games Pavilion. Toilets available as well.

What an absolute gem of a park. Very picturesque, serene and pleasant walk through with a beautiful victoriana style cafe and beautiful views across the park. Plenty of benches for seating. I saw a few dog walkers. One thing I notices was how clean and well kept it was. Also, I didn't see any noticeable dog doodoos which was great. I could spend a day there with a book, flask with hot tea and snacks and relax and down tools. It has a very calming aura. I think there's a hotel on the higher ground overlooking the park? I think it's a lovely place to go to get some quiet time or to go for a nice sit and chat.

Beautiful and well maintained gardens. Even at the end of October there were still flowers in bloom. I imagine this park is lovely in all seasons but the autumn colours were stunning. Once a month, on a Sunday, there is an artisan market. There was a range of food & drink stalls, stands selling gifts, and more.

From the elegant Sun Pavilion to the Japanese Garden, it’s a place where every turn feels like it's straight from a postcard. The Fat Badger is a stylish English pub located in Harrogate, with a terrace and traditional food. The pub offers a cozy atmosphere, especially during colder months, and has outdoor seating for warmer days. It's known for its roast dinners featuring tender meat and seasonal vegetables, as well as its Sunday set menu offering starters and desserts. The menu caters to various dietary preferences with vegan and gluten-free options, along with small plates for those who prefer variety.
We had a really nice Sunday lunch here. The Sunday set menu offers great value for money. The roast beef was good and came with the biggest Yorkshire pudding I've ever seen. There's some vegetarian opinions on the menu. It's well worth getting the side portion of Cauliflower and cheese sauce. They had a good range of local beers on offer. It is accessible to wheelchair users, but it's very tight to get up the ramp to the side of the main entrance.

Absolutely brilliant on all counts. Great gasto-pub. Love the theme, the atmosphere. Great location, the seating outside is perfect. We had two dogs with us and they're more than welcome outside. Umbrellas and good heaters to keep you warm when the weather is a little less than ideal. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was brilliant! We ended up eating at The Fat Badger in York as well 2 days later because we loved it so much. Both locations were equally as good! When we're next in the area we'll definitely eat here. Thoroughly recommend. Even parking on site! (Although a little more expensive than in town, but for the convenience totally worth it! )

A great find. A lovely old bar style in a grand building in the heart of Harrogate. We popped in en route to York and just wanted a quick sandwich. We chose just a cheese and chutney sandwich, thinking it was just going to be basic and something to fill a gap. However, it came in a beautiful, warm crusty bread. The sweet onion chutney was wonderful and this was accompanied by a nice, leafy salad in a pleasant dressing and some crisps. We really enjoyed it. I must say, the main meals looked a bit pricey, but we were OK with the sandwich price, just under £9, if I remember correctly. No worries with beers and lagers, a good selection. I chose Black Sheep beer, which went well with the sandwich. The staff were pleasant and helpful. There is a parking charge of £1.50 per hour at the covered car park adjacent. You can pay outside or inside the pub. We'll certainly be popping in when we are in Harrogate again.

Great food, great staff. We had a beautiful meal at the Fat Badger. Our evening started with a drink at the bar; very busy as this was a Friday night, but the bar staff were really efficient and we didn't have to wait for long to be served despite the crowds. A shout out to Esther who was so pleasant and welcoming and suggested some white wines for us. She also provided directions for where to go for our meal. We sat in the side dining room which was busy but was quiet (not too quiet) but still a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately I did not get the name of our waiter who was just excellent (I think he may have been French?) Delicious chowder soup to start with and we opted for the duck (cooked to perfection) and Risotto (a starter which came as a main). The wine was beautiful as well, and while we didn't opt for dessert (despite them looking gorgeous!) we did have a lovely coffee and liqueur to finish. We headed back to the bar after which was even busier and we were served by Esther again, who asked how our meal was. A pleasant surprise that she remembered us as the bar was standing room only at this stage! We managed to find a table in the corridor outside the bar which was also very busy and still had a great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Fat Badger for the food, atmosphere, ambience and service - top notch

Oddly not in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide nor hosting a Cask Marque but a superb selection of 10 real ales. ( Follow The Great British Pub Crawl on YouTube for pub tips when visiting anywhere new to you. ) Casta saw that Tetley's bitter was on sale. Joshua Tetley's Leeds brewery closed a long time ago but whoever brews this is still doing a good job. A very upmarket pub with a super beer patio wrapping round the the front and side.

Without a recommendation from a shop assistant in a nearby shop I would have walked past the unassuming frontage. However, the interior is lovely, modern, warm and inviting. The staff could not be more helpful and attentive. The 3 course meal we had tonight was one of the best meals i have had in a long time. Superb quality, beautifully presented and packed with flavour. Had to check the bill as it was much less than expected even with the optional service charge on.. incredibly good value for money. Would heartily recommend and will go back.

I was fortunate to find a Groupon voucher for this restaurant and I an s.o glad I did. The tables are well spaced so you don't feel like someone is looking over your shoulder all the time, and the service was good and prompt. We had a 2 course menu and the food was amazing, especially the seared salmon starter. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try, though you should book to avoid disappointment.

The lunch menu which both my friend and myself had was excellent and we would definitely dine there again. The salmon with stir-fried cabbage and soy noodles was so tender and although I cook salmon quite a lot I have never achieved this standard and my friend was equally impressed with her dish of chicken. The portions were generous and beautifully presented and served by pleasant and courteous waiters. Having started our lunch with salmon fishcakes served with an absolutely tasty lemon and dill sauce unfortunately we could not manage to eat any of the tempting desserts. We were also impressed by the very reasonably priced menu!

I have been here several times. I have been on 05/11/14. Normally go early evening on a Monday, if I am going to a dance in Harrogate (Modern Jive). I normally opt for the Duck that they do as a main course. The food is very fancy, presented very well , but more importantly tastes fantastic. I recommend this place. The restaurant is very clean and the staff are very good. The prices for a meal are a bit more expensive than some of the cheaper theatre restaurants, but the ingredients and the flavours are very good.

Starters were great. The prawns were to die for. My partner enjoyed his beef curry main. However I was disappointed with my pad Thai as it was overly salty. Also, I asked for no onions but crispy onions were added. The staff were lovely and very understanding when I told them about my noodles and offered to make me another dish. Unfortunately I was unable to accept this as we had an appointment and needed to leave. The pad Thai was taken off the bill without us asking. Will definitely visit again.

A mixed bag. For a restaurant that is meant to be on the premium side, and tells you about it with loud Moet champagne branding, tables were left dirty and toilets were very basic (appreciate the restaurant is in an old building). However, the food is very good. We questioned whether our king prawns were madras and monkfish was massaman (both tasted like Thai red curry) but still thoroughly enjoyed the unique offering. The setting just needs to match the food in quality.

Amazing AMAZING food! My husband and I stumbled across FISK on our first visit to Harrogate. We got the scallops and cod tikka to start and the king prawn pad Thai and monkfish massaman for mains. Olivers Fish Shop & Restaurant is a delightful spot that captures the essence of traditional British dining, particularly known for its classic fish and chips. Nestled in Harrogate, this charming eatery offers a relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of seaside chip shops. With its simple yet inviting decor, it feels like stepping back into a nostalgic culinary experience. Went for tea here this evening after a walk round nearby Valley Gardens. This is a proper old school traditional fish & chips restaurant. The lady serving us was absolutely lovely and the food amazing. My son had a chicken& mushroom pie, my mum scampi and I had spam fritters and we all really enjoyed our meals. The chips were perfect and the batter on my spam fritters was gorgeous, so crispy and light. We didn't have time to stay longer or we'd have had pudding but we will definitely be back to try out the crumbles. Definitely a 5*. Thanks for a lovely meal.

Our local fish shop accepted my take away order last evening and took credit card payment. The owner called back 10 minutes later, extensively berated me and told me my order had been cancelled because I'd left a poor Just Eat review in August. The review stated that the fish was overcooked, but the scampi and chips were great. Best avoid . . .

Lovely homely venue. Walked in and hadn't booked and seated immediately. Staff very friendly and courteous. Minutes later all the tables had been taken up. Ordered fish and chips with portion of gravy, peas along with a starter of salt and pepper squid. Squid was ok nothing special, 5 pieces per portion price was very reasonable Was expecting like a Chinese S&P squid but just deep fried pieces. Was our fault as this isnt a chinese takeaway so expectations of squid having onions peppers salt and pepper not Olivers fault Wasn't described as such so can't complain but wouldn't reorder as bland when tried Fish and chips were a decent portion but found batter on fish wasn't to our taste and had to peel it off both our plates Batter wasn't the normal light yellow puffy crispy batter as usually expected from fish and chippies but not tonight as tasted over done and batter wasn't light quiet the opposite and flat Meal came with tea and bread and butter choice of bread which was a plus. Overall don't think we'll be back but service and staff were an asset so may give a second call in when passing through Harrogate as may have been unlucky tonight The cafe was busy and shop also so may have been the reason for our meals being as served as was Again the staff are lovely

Pine Marten Harrogate is a classic country pub with stylish rooms, offering free Wi-Fi and breakfast. The establishment is a long-established restaurant and hotel located on the edge of Harrogate town, boasting a beautiful building with plenty of character. The interior is well-furnished in an interesting style, while the menus offer a good mix of dishes that should appeal to most, including clearly marked vegan and vegetarian options.
Lovely meal at the Pine Marten in Harrogate. Sea bass was superb and the apple tart was perfect for sharing. Staff attentive but not intrusive and price was on point.

Lovely quiet meal. Nice food selection, attentive friendly staff. Nice selection of cask and keg ales. Dog tolerant - our hound was quite happy settled under the table whilst we ate - although they seemed to be lacking dog biscuits. Bit of a gimmick? I actually notice my dog wanting to go back to a venue if she gets a dog biscuits during her visit. Also had to ask for a bowl of water - no biggie, but the places that ask if me if my dog wants a drink as well make me smile more. Quiet when we were there. Perhaps slightly over priced for bar food (dog area) - but yep, deffo elevated from ‘pub grub’

Loved absolutely everything about this place. Our waitress was lovely and did her best. The food was 10/10, the carrot soup has natural sweetness and whole seeds just hit the spot. The rib-eye was perfect, medium rare as ordered, tender and it had a smell of wood. Also, the chips with it were really nice. The decor is so decent and stylish, the fireplaces make it super cosy.

We had an amazing experience at The Pine Martin. The food was absolutely delicious, every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The hotel room was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained, making our stay relaxing and enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive, always making sure we had everything I needed. Overall, it’s a perfect combination of great food, a cozy place to stay, and excellent service. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Stayed a couple of nights and ate on night 1. Accommodation comfortable, but probably not worth the price. Room has a couple of bits of paint missing (bathroom and wall near the door - we were in room 2). Food was lovely, but disappointingly one of their 'select' items on the menu which I ordered (lamb) was not available.

We had a lovely dinner with my friends and the staff was very helpful and friendly, especially Joe and Millie. The food was exceptional with regards for chef Rudi and Agron. Service was quite fast and accurate. Definitely going there again!

We had an excellent experience at The Pine Martin thanks to Jake! He was attentive and made great recommendations from the menu! He even asked about allergies, which we really appreciated. Everyone had a friendly attitude made the whole evening enjoyable. We’ll definitely be coming back - thank you Jake!

Lovely restaurant, looks great. Loads of seating and nice outdoor area with pond. The food was good, but could be better. Had the dirty burger which I liked the beef dripping with it to dip the burger in, nice touch had to use a knife and fork with the burger as it is messy. The patty wasn’t the flavourful also felt like it was missing a side of coleslaw or something additional.
