Pendennis Castle, a historic hilltop fortress in Falmouth, has stood as a formidable stronghold for over 450 years. Built by King Henry VIII, it offers panoramic views of the Carrick Roads estuary and provides insight into Cornwall's defensive heritage. Operated by English Heritage, the castle features interactive exhibits and costumed interpreters that bring its history to life.
Highly recommend the free tour. Lots of information about the history of the castle and the local area. We originally went for the Taskmaster collaboration as we were in the area. But didn't end up doing many of the tasks as were busy exploring the castle instead.

The parking signs for the disabled parking are ambiguous and incorrect,so it's not very clear.
Friendly staff and great afternoon spent looking round Penndennis Castle and grounds.
Whilst looking around the fun room within the main part of the castle we were approached by Don,one of the English Heritage staff who could see that our disabled daughter was enjoying reading the information in each room. He approached me and asked if we wanted an explanation and tour of the castle, which we agreed.
He was fabulous taking time to explain what each room was for and pitching it at a level that our daughter could understand and relate to. He checked in after each room to ensure she had understood the information.He was interesting and very informative and especially kind and compassionate with our daughter as he took time and effort to ensure she took something from the experience.
I asked if he had any experience with Additional needs as he was so good with our daughter, he hadn't I'm particular but had experience of working with young people.
Don was definitely an asset to English Heritage and made our trip informative and memorable.
The grounds and views were amazing and we felt very much connected to that part of history from his storytelling.
The station the teashop were also good and cakes delicious..
All staff were friendly and great,I'd it hadn't of been for the confusion over the signage for disabled parking I would have given this a 5 star review.
Definitely worth a visit.
Chose a sunny day and you'll be rewarded with stunning views over to St Mawes and Falmouth. The Military history spans the moments of crisis in British history; 16th century, the Nepoleonic wars and WW1/ 2. Superb info boards and exemplary English Hetitage staff dealing with an unexpected group of cruise ship visitors. Coffee in cafe to finish was just as good!

Great cafe with friendly service and an amazing gift shop within something for everyone.
We went for the jousting tournament, which was brilliant, but there was a huge range of entertainment which was suitable for all ages and it was all included in the price. We also visited the castle and museum. There’s a lovely cafe, but the food and drink is expensive. There was plenty of car parking.
Lots of history around this castle and World War Two! It’s dog friendly and they are also allowed in the castle. We went in for free as we had an English Heritage membership - definitely worth doing.
Great place to It's truly a wonderful destination, offering a unique experience. The atmosphere is pleasant, making it easy to relax and enjoy your time. With its beautiful scenery, it provides a perfect backdrop for creating lasting memories. You will find yourself wanting to come back for another visit.
Taskmaster activities were well pitched and entertaining. 10 year old had fabulous day enjoying the history. 7 year old like exploring the castle grounds. Scones were good, but watch out for the wasps who would very much like to get the jam!! Dogs very welcome.

Scenic Walking Areas
Pendennis Point is a must-visit destination in coastal Cornwall, offering breathtaking views of Falmouth Bay and the surrounding area. Visitors can explore the Little Dennis fort built into rocks near the high water point and take leisurely coastal walks along the path to Maenporth beach. The strategic location and natural beauty make it popular for those interested in local history and stunning scenery.
Free viewpoint with parking (sometimes very busy) ice cream stalls and a coffee stall. More space than it looks like. Some nice places to sit, a small fort and interesting rock formations, plus of course a nice view.

A great place to stop for a rest. Free parking and a great place to watch sunsets, dolphins and regattas. Also makes for a great place to walk and fish for mackerel etc.
Free car park with fantastic views out to sea in every direction, plus the castle just behind. You can also walk down to the rocks from the car park. This really is a hidden gem in Falmouth.
This is one of those places where it becomes a family tradition that you have go to enjoy if you are in Falmouth to enjoy the 270 degree views, fresh air (or even rain!), watch the boats and ships passing or mooring in the bay, a gentle walk to the fort and fishing rocks beyond the car park - and of course the ice cream from which ever van happens to be there serving freshly made ice cream in '99's'. May I be able to do for many years to come!

Pendennis Point is a beautiful scenic headland. Great for either walking or just spending time watching the world go by. Direct views over the Fal River, St Mawes, Black Rock (often seals at low water), St Anthony Lighthouse (The real Fraggle Rock!, Falmouth Bay & anchorages & the Lizard Peninsula.
We parked at Pendennis Point this afternoon to look out across the river for dolphins, as we've seen them from here before. Alas, there were none today.
Lovely area to spend a few hours watching the yachts and birds. Bonus we had a delicious ice cream!

The National Maritime Museum Cornwall is a captivating museum located in Falmouth, offering a fascinating exploration of the town's maritime history. The museum showcases an array of boats, maritime artifacts, and exhibits on topics such as smuggling, fishing, and rescue operations. Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy different exhibitions alongside permanent displays. Additionally, the museum celebrates Falmouth's seafaring heritage with various festivals including the International Sea Shanty Festival and Falmouth Week.
They have a great exhibition of 100 years of surfing across Cornwall but also the world with big names in local sustainability such as James Otter of Otter Surfboards and David Forsyth from Driftwood Surfboards both great places to buy boards from!
Really interesting and interactive exhibit with a 37ft surfboard weighing in at 181kg where it had 14 people able to ride it in the past and everything else in between! Definitely worth a visit just for this alone but the rest of the museum was amazing too!

Tickets quite expensive but they do last for a whole year which makes up for the price :) an option for a cheap day ticket would be LOVELY. Best section of the area was seeing all the surf boards and learning about some of the locals and their cool, interesting history. The remote control boats were super unique with it only being controlled by using the sails and ‘wind’.

Modern museum in a lovely marina setting. It was a bit pricey at £18.50 for an adult. There was a great surfing exhibition on. Lots of interesting facts associated with the famous exhibits there. It looked a popular place for mothers with young children as there is a play area. There is also an inside pond for playing with radio controlled boats. Also they have a decent cafe and shop. There is a car park nearby with shops and cafes.
Really enjoyed looking around at all the boats, surf boards and the history of the surf competitions. Unfortunatly the tide was out so we didnt see the fish in the lower levels. This didnt detract feom the experience. Also some amazing view.

Great place, tidal pool and the look out tower particularly interesting. Friendly, helpful staff. A years membership is great value giving free entry for a year plus free entry to many other attractions in Cornwall.
Lovely day out with the children, ages 5 -14 , all of them enjoyed it. Went during the pirate exhibition in the summer holidays, very thorough and interesting, they also had a pantomime on hourly for the children which was well thought out and engaging, children loved it. Went down to tide 2 in the tower and enjoyed looking out to underwater and seeing the tide in the harbour.

Amazing fish & chips!! The sustainability practises of this place including the MSC for sustainable fishing across their menu, drew me in above all other restaurants in the town. Would 100% recommend, loved every bite!

Decent, But Nothing Special
Whenever I visit a seaside town, my first stop is always fish and chips. It’s usually a generous portion at a reasonable price, and this time was no different. After researching online, this spot seemed to be one of the most well-known, so I decided to give it a try.
The atmosphere and location are nice, and the staff are friendly. As you can see in the photo, the lemon was almost bigger than the fish! The portion was filling, with chips and mushy peas on the side. However, the mushy peas tasted like they had just been reheated from a pre-made batch, and overall, the meal wasn’t anything extraordinary. The fish was decent, the chips were standard—nothing that made them stand out.
One downside was that my coffee arrived before the food, so I had to eat quickly before it got cold, which took away from the enjoyment. I didn’t want to send it back and waste it, but it wasn’t an ideal experience.
If you’re in the area, it might be worth trying something else on the menu, but for me, it was just an average fish and chips experience.
Did not Disappoint, Easily The Best Fish & Chips I've ever had. We had The Famous 5, line caught Haddock, Chips Mushy, Peas Bread and unlimited Tea £21.
The batter was light and crispy almost Tempora like. Come here and you won't be disappointed

Very good cod and chips plus plaice and chips was had here in the restaurant. Good food and service. A great bonus is you can get a takeaway and eat it in the pub underneath were were ate our scampi and cheesy chips
Fab freshly cooked fish and chips in a lovely setting on Custom House Quay. Perfect with a cold cider from The Front pub under the fish and chip shop where you can sit outside to eat your takeout. Would recommend.
No surprises, it’s tasty fish & chips. Nice to be able to dine in and eat them fresh from the fryer.

It’s one of the top restaurants which serves fresh and delicious food. Every food which I tasted here were delicious. Staffs are very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this place especially if you are vegetarian and looking for some spicy food. They also alter dishes based on preferences.

We chose this restaurant as it was so busy inside and was not disappointed. The staff were really fast and came with drinks and popadoms more or less as soon as we arrived. The mango lassi was a great choice with the spicy dishes. The onion Bahji was a great size but felt like was missing something. However the main dishes were next level. Succulent huge chunks of chicken in the biriyani and peshwari naan was so sweet but seasoned to perfection. Then the chana massala was probably the best i ever tried with multi layers of flavour and spice, which i accompanied with a potatoe and bamboo shoot dish that the owner recommended - the portions packed flavour and were large. Couldn’t believe the bill was £41 and I was given a rose and some chocolates too. Great night and another nice meal in Falmouth
We visited Balti Curries in Falmouth while on holiday with my family, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Our waiter, Mr. Sarma, was warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcome.
We ordered a wonderful selection of dishes – Lamb Biryani, Garlic Chilli Lamb, Achari Lamb, Lamb Bhuna, Papadoms, Mango Lassi, and Tarka Dall – all bursting with authentic flavour and perfectly cooked. As a lovely surprise, they even offered us some delicious pakoras on the house, which was such a nice touch.
Every dish was rich, aromatic, and beautifully spiced, and the portions were generous. The atmosphere was cosy and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal together.
We truly enjoyed our evening here and would highly recommend Balti Curries to anyone visiting Falmouth. Thank you to Mr. Sarma and the team for making our night so special!
Had a great experience at Balti Curries! The food was full of flavour — rich but still light, so you leave satisfied without feeling heavy. Service was excellent too — really friendly, quick and attentive. Everything came out fast and with a smile. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to and recommending to others!

It was our first time visiting Falmouth and we were looking for an authentic Indian Restaurant and then we got Balti Curries. Currys are so delicious. Staff are so friendly.
Perfect vibe on the place and the food was just spot on, even as an Indian, had the perfect level of spices and flavour. Loves every bit of my dinner.

What a treat! We came to the Shack for our 7th wedding anniversary and had the best time. The fish was excellent...squid, scallops, prawns, oysters, crabs, muscles...all were amazing. A lovely atmosphere with welcoming, friendly staff. Reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. You have to book, we watched so many people being turned away. Thank you for a great experience. We highly recommend a visit :)

An absolutely brilliant experience! My partner and I had the oyster, dressed crab with salad and aioli sauce, and the haddock and chips which were absolutely delicious. You could tell the ingredients were freshly prepared and the dishes were full of flavour. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Good value for money. We just went to the Shack last night for our 10th wedding anniversary. We were overwhelmed by the exceptional service the gentleman provided. They made our 10th anniversary especially memorable. We tried to say thanks again before we left but the gentleman was too busy back by the kitchen and we were rushing for a movie.
My husband's steak was cooked to perfection. The amount of my seafood starter and main were so generous! I was so full. I loved their homemade seafood dip which was so tasty. I personally would love more flavour with the mussels and the whole crab. But they were still very nice. I'll definitely try the seafood platter for 2/3 to share when we bring our girls next time because my husband doesn't eat seafood!

After trying to eat here on our first wander around Falmouth and to find it fully booked, we went online and found a table at lunch time a few days later. Result!
Super glad we went as the food was stunning. My friends had the crab sandwich and I had the dressed Cornish crab - freshly caught that morning. I had no idea dressed crab could taste that good. It was perfect!
Being a little hungover we asked if they served Bloody Mary's and thankfully Max our waiter had a winning recipe at hand. It was definitely one of the best, perfectly spiced Bloody Mary's I've ever had - and I've had a lot. So that was a brilliant cherry at the top of an already excellent cake for our experience at The Shack.

Our first meal in Cornwall and certainly one of the most memorable, service was amazing and the staff were so accommodating, we sat outside since it was a full house inside but asked to move tables closer to the entrance of the restaurant where it was a bit warmer and they gave us blankets too.
We ordered the seafood platter for 3 and an extra side of calamari and was concerned it wasn’t going to be enough but we were oh so wrong - this magnificent spread of seafood could feed 4 easily as we couldn’t even finish it and had to take some home.
Everything was just so delicious, especially the scallops and mussels in white wine sauce and the huge crab which was briny and meaty.
You definitely get your moneys worth coming here, and will leave happily stuffed!
We will visit again when we come back to Cornwall!

Nestled in the heart of Falmouth, the Little Red Rooster is a charming family-run diner that captures the essence of an American eatery with its laidback vibe reminiscent of New York. This delightful spot has earned its place on Cornwall's best burger list, serving up classic diner fare like hearty breakfasts, juicy burgers, hot dogs, and indulgent ice cream sundaes.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Falmouth , food is fresh and well made very reasonably priced , place is very clean and the staff are super friendly. I came here twice while in falmouth and I will certainly be back the next time I'm in falmouth. Authentic American dining experience.

We stumbled on this beautiful little diner and we're so glad we did. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and great with our 2 year old daughter. The food was genuinely amazing. When you're on holiday it's easy to feel like you're being ripped off when everything costs three times as much as it would normally but we also found this place to be very reasonably priced.
Great taste. Not so great after effects. Had a chilli burger with cheesy chips on the side. Bit of a cheese overload but the burger and chips beneath were all very good - best in a long while. But that’s where all the praise ends. Don’t know what got me, whether it was the oil or something wrong with the meat, but 2 hours later I was stuck fast to the loo …for an eon. Two visits again since, and that’s all within 10 hours! Not great.
Very good burgers and also breakfast dogs. Especially suitable if just want a simple delicious meal. Another big plus is the super clean environment, very good decoration inside as well. Definitely worth trying!

Trebah Garden is a stunning sub-tropical paradise located near the Helford River Estuary in Cornwall. This award-winning garden offers an array of seasonal blooms, including ancient rhododendrons and fragrant magnolias in spring, giant rhubarb in summer, hydrangeas in autumn, and diverse flora from the southern hemisphere in winter.
Such a beautiful place to visit, been many times in the past and returned this year to find its just as unspoilt . Lots of unusual tropical plants grow in this protected valley , it’s a steep hike down to the beach at the bottom but worth the walk to be rewarded by stunning views and the most amazing ice cream. We were lucky to go on a warm day in early autumn and it was the highlight of our holiday

Great gardens to walk around, even the rainy weather didn't spoil it. Some steep pathways so bear that in mind if you have mobility issues. A great way to spend a few hours.
Been a while lovely to return. Loving the blues of the hydrangea. Free use of a tramper is a good addition for those who need assistance. Great day to chill on the beach before the hike back up. The new to us walled garden was worth a visit.
Random visit for us as we had planned other places, very glad we went. It poured with rain the whole time but this made it feel even more special. The plants and walks around are amazing and a kid park for the kids to enjoy. Would 100% recommend to all.
Wow what an amazing garden! It's got so many fascinating plants and all grown with so much vigor! The garden is in a valley so you walk down one side and walk back up the other. The paths are well maintained but there's a lot of walking up slopes. Lovely icecream shop by the beach.
A beautiful garden, with a rich variety of plants set in a very special location. The cafe food was excellent quality too, it was fairly priced for what you receive and I would definitely visit to enjoy it again. Entry cost for your ticket is quite pricey which is my only reservation which will stop me returning too regularly- but I'd highly recommend and it's certainly worthwhile.
We went with a coach party and parking wasn't a problem. The garden reminded me of the Gardens of Heligan but on a smaller scale and with less diversity of plants. The planting includes lots of bamboo, hydrangeas and tree ferns. The paths wind their way down to the beach where there is a cafe with outside tables. You can do a circular walk to return to the car park. There is a shop, cafe, toilets and small plant centre before the exit.
My wife and I loved this ravine garden... Excellent parking, very modern visitor centre with toilets, cafe and customer seating..helpful staff for regular and first time visitors...shop for gifts and plants. Very clear map of paths leading down to the beach with hard standing area, picnic benches and (on our visit) the option of tea coffee ice cream and snacks... wonderful views across the Helford estuary.

We had a super stay here. We paid a very reasonable price for a generous-sized room with lots of lovely touches like robes and slippers. The spa was lovely with a good sized swimming pool, sauna and hot tub. All was clean and felt luxurious.
Service was friendly and very efficient throughout and the area is superb with coastal walks and National trust gardens on the doorstep. A thoroughly enjoyable visit.

Had an amazing spa day here. The staff were super accommodating and was so relaxing (which is what you would expect!). My personal highlight was actually the spa lunch. I was expecting tiny portions of food, but they were excellent! Totally recommend the duck starter!

Excellent location. Based in the heart of Cornwall and very close to Falmouth. Additionally, reasonable distance and quick access by road towards Cornwall's tourist spots including Lands End and St Michaels mount.
The service received was excellent throughout. The pool and sauna are clean and well kept. The staff are all very friendly. There is plenty of parking and the set menu breakfast (+buffet) is great.
Unfortunately some parts of the hotel are dated, especially some of the cheaper standard rooms but I believe they have recently been acquired by new owners who are slowly renovating.
What an absolute hidden gem!The only regret is that we only stayed one night!
Loved everything about it., breakfast &coffee is great as well as the drinks they serve at the bar, the staff are doing their best to help you with everything u require.

Golf course looked fun.

And want to relax. We are not into golf. And only stayed here for 2 nights. As we were doing a little tour round Cornwall. Food was superb. If your wanted a more relaxed atmosphere have a little walk to the ferry boat.

Nestled near the Helford River, Glendurgan Garden is a peaceful and exotic National Trust garden featuring ancient trees, exotic plants, and a valley leading to a sheltered beach. The garden offers attractions for all ages, including a planted maze and a rotating rope swing. In spring, the garden comes alive with colorful blooms from magnolias and camellias. The lower valley boasts exotic flowers while thousands of wildflowers cover the steep valleys.
Gorgeous, historic gardens. The maze was fun. Few games dotted around for children & adults alike. If you're really into gardening & plants, this is the place. We walked all the way down to the tiny hamlet next to the Helford River where we had an ice cream. Then the steep walk back up. A nice way to while away a few hours.

Lovely walk through an exotic woodland downhill to a tiny fishing village (some of which is now holiday cottages) and stony beach with beautiful views over river estuary. Energetic walk back uphill via the maze halfway which was great fun . There were some flowers but I went at wrong time of year for them but thoroughly enjoyed the gardens nevertheless. Refreshments and toilets at top and bottom of path.

Wow, what an a great garden, there's a lot to see. If you have limited mobility then be warned that most of the garden is on a slope so there's a lot of walking up and down hill.
There's some fabulous and different plants here, all of which are well cared for. You can walk down to the beach which is a lovely place to chill.
The maze is fantastic fun and challenging being on a slope.
Don't miss the massive tulip tree as you walk in which is incredible!
There's a lovely cafe selling tasty cakes and drinks, some of which are traditional to Cornwall.
Lovely relaxing atmosphere, dogs allowed on lead except the maze, orchard and schoolhouse which is fine. Great cafe but dogs are outside - website says inside on the left but it doesn’t have any walls so really it’s outside with a canopy.
Pebbly beach but still relaxing with an ice-cream hut. Dogs are allowed here too but on a lead.
My mum who is 80 managed this walk with a few stops at the benches dotted around the site.
A lovely garden to leisurely wonder around. The plants and trees are very well displayed, with info on some of them.The little village at the bottom of the garden is very quaint with the little beach where you can sit and have a ice cream before you start back up the hill. The grandchildren really enjoyed the maze.The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a very good day out.
Fun activity for 3-4 hours with the kids. Maze, apple shed and the games nearby (connect4, big jenga blocks etc.) were really fun for the kids. Great walk down to the village near the beach and really tasty local ice cream from there. Finally some jacket potatoes back at the cafe near entrance to top the day.
We returned on Sunday, many years after our last visit. Still as beautiful as we remembered it. We had to take the easier route, as this time we had our grandson in his pushchair with us!

Maenporth Beach is a charming, sheltered beach located just a few miles from Falmouth. It features an east-facing sandy cove nestled between small headlands, offering shallow and inviting waters that are perfect for families and dogs. The beach provides amenities such as a cafe, toilets, and a car park, with the option to hire various watersport equipment. During peak seasons, there is a dog ban in place to ensure the comfort of all visitors.
A beautiful wide open beach with lots of space. The bay is very flat and you can walk out into the water for a hundred meters or more without the water getting above your waist. The waters seem very calm and warm. There are lots of caves and rock pools to explore along the sides, as well as a nice walk that follows the coast on either side. There is a great cafe and ice cream shop just behind the beach with clean toilets and amenities. It is also a dog friendly beach as long as you are respectful.

Out for a drive and came across this place. Lovely beach sand.good for kids as well. Very flat beach. Car park small. Only problem was no signal on ur phone. Got to pay to park. Cash or card on manchine. But u can download the WiFi by the ticket machine and do it like that but when u walk away no WiFi. There is a cafe and toilets as well. Will come back again some time.

Lovely beach, not as crowded as some other Cornish beaches. The beach cafe is decent, and you can hire kayaks and paddle boards from a guy on the beach, it's £15 per hour for a single kayak or £25 for a twin kayak which we felt was very reasonable. Overall it's a pretty beach with a nice vibe.

Came across this restaurant by chance as it is dog 🐕 friendly, lovely place, great view out to sea, staff friendly and attentive but not too much. The food was delicious and well presented a lovely end to our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Will certainly go there again the next time we’re in Cornwall.
What a super Sunday lunch lovely veg, great roasty potatoes, excellent yorkie and plenty of thick juicy beef covered in lovely shiny thick gravy. We started with tempura prawns with a great sauce. Well worth a visit and also worth the price for us. Staff were amazing and very nice. Give them some custom they more than deserve it.

The view from sitting outside is beautiful and really relaxing to be able to gaze out across the water at the boats.

Tucked away right on the riverbank, The Ferry Boat Inn is a hidden gem you can’t reach by car – and that’s part of the charm. Arriving feels like stepping into a slower pace of life, with boats moored nearby and plenty of outdoor seating to soak up the view. Inside, there’s a spacious dining area plus a separate room with a pool table for a more casual vibe.
We ordered fish and chips and a cheeseburger – both generous in portion and spot-on in flavour. At around £19 per main, it’s not the cheapest, but the quality makes it worth it. They also offer a selection of specials if you fancy something different.

A lovely pub in a breathtaking setting. The beer was excellent, food too, and I could have sat and looked over the estuary all day. Parking is closed by. Be aware there are steps and slopes to the pub and back. Well worth a visit.
This pub is always extremely busy, which says a lot about it. If the weather is good get a table outside for beautiful views of Helford Passage, you might have to wait a while, but people are always coming and going. Fish and Chips are really good as are the burgers and the Mackerel pate is very tasty. Range of beers are excellent and service really quick. Definitely a favourite pub for us!
A little bit pricey, but everything goes up in price and if your sailing into Helford it's not going to be a problem, though I'm a land lubber and can't afford to eat here every night, which is a shame😂

For day 3, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with St Mawes Castle, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Gyllyngvase Beach. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Ancient Ruins
St Mawes Castle, a 16th-century artillery fortress, is one of the best-preserved coastal fortresses from Henry VIII's era. It was built to defend against potential invasions from Catholic France and Spain and is adorned with intricate carvings and Latin inscriptions praising the kings. Situated opposite Pendennis Castle, it overlooks the River Fal estuary and offers scenic views of the bay.
There is extra parking at the castle, but not marked up. There is what looks like a slip road that has a steep decline, but if you take that one left of the main car park there is lots of space. Castle is very interesting. Well worth a visit.

Have never been to the castle before, it's definitely worth a visit if you are around st mawes. There are good parking facilities for everyone, toilets and a gift shop. Some beautiful visit across to Falmouth as well. If you love history this is a must
We hopped on the ferry from Falmouth to St Mawes to visit the castle. Built by Henry 8th, this "modern" castle has stunning views over the estuary. Our little explorer loved the connect four game and the amazing views. Lots of information boards and fascinating facts about the history of the castle and the area.
Took the ferry from Falmouth for a short day trip. Although a little on the small side, the castle is in excellent condition and has lots of areas to explore. There are also some excellent views of the bay. Recommend a visit.

St Mawes Castle, located near Falmouth in Cornwall, is one of the best-preserved coastal artillery fortresses from the Tudor period. Constructed between 1540 and 1542 during King Henry VIII’s reign, it was designed to defend the Carrick Roads waterway at the mouth of the River Fal against potential invasions from France and the Holy Roman Empire.  
The castle features a distinctive cloverleaf design, comprising a central four-story tower surrounded by three circular bastions. This layout provided extensive platforms for heavy artillery, allowing comprehensive coverage of the surrounding waters. Notably, St Mawes Castle is adorned with elaborate carvings and inscriptions praising Henry VIII, reflecting its historical significance and the era’s architectural style.  
For visitors interested in exploring this historic site, St Mawes Castle is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Booking tickets online in advance can provide a 15% discount on admission prices. It’s important to note that the last admission is 30 minutes before closing time.

Castle Beach is a picturesque beach located just south of the town, near Gylly Beach. It offers stunning views over Falmouth Bay and Pendennis Castle. At high tide, the clear waters are great for snorkeling, while at low tide, a narrow strip of shingle and sand is revealed along with rock pools for children to explore.
Best beach for me, lovely Rock pools, sunny area, first class cafe providing such tasty food and drinks. Outdoor seating mainly,but plans in place for a all weather seating area to extend the season.

This place has a great view and Pendennis Castle close-by, but the beach itself has a rancid smell, which attracts lots of midges/flies. Me and my daughter went for the rockpools but only managed to catch endless amounts of tiny crabs and a couple of baby Goby's.
Parking would be free on the main road, which will be quite full during holiday periods.
Access is down wide, fairly steep concrete slope to the cafe and seating. There is a further slope or steps down to the beach. The beach is narrow but sandy. The sea floor slope off quite steeply from the shore so watch little ones. Not sure about loos?
The cafe has a very good range of beach side food and drinks.
This beach completely disappears at high tide. There are rocks and boulders in the water which makes getting in difficult.
Beautiful beach with amazing rock pools. The sea does cover the beach at high tide so watch the tide times. Has toilets. There are a few little secluded spots off to one side above the rock pools. We had a lovely afternoon here.
Really beautiful area to go for a walk. If you're brave enough you can get into the water as the beach is more rocky than sandy. The weather usually is really good but sometimes you'll get that rain that will be annoying if you're not from these lands.

Originally built in 1910, the venue has evolved into a year-round live music venue and theatre complex, hosting live music, theatre performances, and community gatherings. The stunning Gyllyngdune Gardens surrounding the pavilion feature an Edwardian bandstand and vibrant Garden Cafe.
The gardens are very pretty,a lot of unusual plants due to their position and micro climate. The pavilion serves light snacks, alcohol and soft drinks,quite expensive in my personal view . Long bar area but service area is crammed up on the right side by till. Had my tray of tea passed over the head of an old lady making an order,and then making my way out through waiting people,not ideal . Nice outside seating area , toilets available. A good sun trap

This is a conference venue in Falmouth. I recently attended the UK mining meeting there so I don't know what it's like on an average day. The gardens have a spectacular array of plants with lots of exotics. Well worth visit just for that.
A day in Cornwall to watch Argyle play at Truro brought me to Falmouth for a quick visit and see the sea. Gylly beach cafe is a tourist trap and dull and boring so I set out to find somewhere different. Fortunately, hidden away past the hidden botanical gardens and up the steps and you find this hidden gem. Beautiful gardens and flowers all enclosed in a peaceful environment. Alas, I still couldn’t find a large latte but the joy of listening to a 4 piece brass band overcame the disappointment.
Great concert Clearwater Creedance Rival cover band plus support by Man!. Fantastic atmosphere and despite computer system going down we managed to get it thanks to knowledgeable staff.

Went for a live event, small venue but very well set out, clean and friendly people to help. Great atmosphere for an open air event, very enjoyable.
Excellent (council run?) Tea room and restaurant with good beer and cider too. Great range of homemade cake, try the Cornish Hevva if you get the chance. Attached to a small theatre and set in lovely gardens.

Gyllyngvase Beach is a popular sandy beach with scenic views and an oceanfront cafe and snack bar. It's considered one of the best town beaches in the country, offering activities like yoga classes, safe swimming, paddleboarding, and occasional surfable waves. The beach also features a panoramic cafe/bar restaurant and well-kept changing rooms and showers. Nearby, there are three other beaches in Falmouth for visitors to explore.
A spectacular beach, and I even discovered a secret spot, where I took a cheeky pee, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. There was something oddly powerful about the moment, like nature itself was giving me permission.

The beach was nice. I took a pleasant walk along the coast. It was windy, so I didn’t go into the waves. I just enjoyed it from the shore.
Lovely city beach. Seems to be a reasonably flat sea bay, so safe for kids to splash in the water. Sandy white beach (coarse) and clear water. Blue flag beach (clean). Lovely view of pendennis castle, pendennis point and st anthony lighthouse.

Nice place to be with friends, family and good amenities in and around with the connecting coast path close by and a pay and display car park only minutes away from both beach and path.
Extremely busy in summer time but all year round good place to come.
Nice little beach, and a nice walk from Falmouth,watch out for seagulls,they will take food from you just when you are putting it in your mouth.
Gylly Beach has clear, fresh water and soft, clean sand. The atmosphere is welcoming, with friendly people all around. It’s a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy the seaside ❤️
This beach was a nice place for me to relax after a lengthy coastal walk. It wasn't too crowded and had plenty of benches available to sit on. Also, it was located just a 5 minute walk away from Falmouth Town Station where I was able to get the train back to Truro from.

I looked everywhere for a decent fry up and came across Cafe Strand, I have never been to this cafe before, in all the time I have visited Fal. So this morning I was so hungry, I went into Cafe Strand and was greeted straight away with a smile and a good morning.
The person who served me was very welcoming, friendly, and polite.
I gave my order and went to pay for my food, I was informed I could pay after i had eaten, so I seated myself at a table. My beverage was nice and hot, I was offered more sugar if I required.
I opted for the half cornish breakfast and a latte.
The meal was served nice and hot, and I was offered various condiments/sauces to go with my food, I opted for ketchup.
The atmosphere is warming, the cafe itself is lovely and relaxing and is an ideal eatery to sit and chill with your favourite meal. I also enjoyed the music that was playing in the background.
I highly recommend a visit to Cafe Strand. It is such a lovely place. It is so clean. As soon as the seating is vacated, all crockery and cutlery are removed, and the area is cleaned. It is reassuring to know that these guys take care of all hygiene requirements in this cafe.
The food was delicious, and I made sure to leave a tip.
You really should try this place when you are next in Falmouth.

Our first time visiting the cafe. There were lots of options and they serve breakfast all day which is great. The food was brilliant, the cafe clean, and I got to try a Mexican breakfast dish you don't find in many places, it was absolutely delicious and you get a good size portion. We both enjoyed our visit and the man that served us was pleasant, polite and quick at serving.
We will definitely be coming again, highly recommend people trying this cafe out!

The food was really really good and at a good price. We had the full Cornish, ramen, and the ham and eggs dish. The halloumi fries were absolutely delicious. The staff was very friendly and helped us with our allergies requirements.
Service was excellent and the food is delicious forgot to take a picture of the mains 🤦 too busy stuffing my face. The Asian style chicken dumplings were amazing and the Pork Ramen was fantastic.

We managed to negotiate the entrance to sit in the sheltered outside seating area overlooking the beach. The staff helpfully rearranged the table a little to make us more comfortable with the wheelchair.
Food is super high quality. Not cafe food but good restaurant quality food. They also filled specific requests regarding the food perfectly without drama.
Such a great spot to overlook the beach in a comfortable environment. The patrons were all super friendly too.

Visited twice whilst away on our holiday, we were staying round the corner from this lovely beach cafe and were so happy to have this gem on our doorstep!
Our first visit was just for drinks and we had a lovely time.
Our second visit was exceptional, we turned up after a previous poor experience at another establishment that left us without dinner. Gylly cafe sat us 15 minutes before the kitchen closed and were so welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure we were fed and looked after. The food was great quality, service was impeccable.
We finished our evening with a relaxing nightcap on the terrace with friends. Beautiful views right on the beach. We intend on returning again!

Always nice to visit here anytime of day. The new covered area is a nice addition and seats are comfy even the tall chairs as have well positioned foot rests. Great choice of drinks, menus are a little limiting but food is good and well presented.
Very tasty food, however, not many choices as a vegetarian on the dinner menu. We had a broccoli steak, which could’ve been deemed slightly pricey, and two sides of potatoes which were delicious. We sat in the self serve area due to a high demand for tables, although it was very little burden only requiring going to the bar to order and picking up your own cutlery, food and drinks are still delivered to your table. Overall a very good spot for a meal and a drink and right by the sea for a good view.
Sunshine at last in Falmouth! ☀️ Views over Gyllyngvase Beach, castles, headlands & brave swimmers in the icy sea. We skipped the dip (spoiled by Mauritius!) but loved the gardens, rock pools & dinner by the waves. Coastal Cornwall at its best.

Great facilities. Any issues quickly resolved. Fabulous food, and free use of paddle boards and a kayak. Really nice views. The pool, sauna, steam room and well equipped gym are there too, if you need them, included in the price. There is a private spa too at an additional cost

I was expecting so much more, from the welcome to the departure, staff were too busy, unfriendly (apart from a couple of lovely breakfast staff) and unhelpful. The room was clean, bed comfy but the bathroom had mould and the paint was peeling. For the amount that is charged it was basic. Tried to book a spa treatment but no-one answered the phone. Sent an email to book and no-one replied. Lots on offer for breakfast which is great, but the full English was sad (I've never seen such a small sausage 😂). My luxury, rejuvenating weekend simply wasn't either. Very disappointed.
We had the most lovely time at St Michael’s on our Cornwall mini-moon after our wedding. Our room had a terrace so we could take our dog out which was really handy - we went to the spa one afternoon which was probably the highlight - there were 4 different saunas including the only Cornish sea salt sauna and one overlooking the sea. We had a fabulous meal one evening - lobster Thermidor which was amazing. All that and just a couple of minutes from the beach. Would 100% recommend to dog owners too as you can take your dog in the lounge restaurant and in the wonderful grounds of the hotel. Final mention for the gym which was fully kitted out and even had and outdoor section to train in
We had the most amazing 2 course meal here. The food was beyond excellent and the service from ALL the staff was equally good. Kind, smiley, friendly, we will definitely be returning again very soon.

I recently stayed at St Michaels Resort in Falmouth and had a mixed experience. The resort is situated in an excellent location, offering easy access to the beach and local attractions. My room was quiet and provided a good night's sleep, which was much appreciated. The hotel itself is well-maintained, clean, and has a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the breakfast served was delightful, with a variety of options to choose from.
However, there were some areas for improvement during my stay. Unfortunately, I experienced issues with the hot water supply in the morning ahead of an important business meeting, which was quite inconvenient. The customer service was not up to expectations, as I found the staff to be less responsive and not very helpful with resolving issues. Furthermore, parking was a challenge due to very limited spaces available, making it difficult to find suitable parking.
Overall, while the resort has some great qualities, there are areas that need attention to enhance the guest experience. I hope these issues are addressed for future visitors.
Stayed a couple nights with my wife for our honeymoon, travelled the 4 and a bit hours from home and it did not disappoint. Everyone was so lovely, the hotel was beautiful, the location was stunning and the food was sensational. We also had a massage at the spa and it was incredible.

Fantastic hotel for business or leisure. The pool facilities are really good and weren't overcrowded. The rooms are nice enough but some parts of the hotel aren't straight forward to get to if you are disabled, but I am sure you would be accommodated in rooms to suit. The surrounding area is fantastic and very scenic. The demographic seemed to suit an older person enjoying retirement but I could see anyone enjoying it. There is some on site parking and I didn't have an issue with finding a space. I would stay again without a doubt.

We had olives, sausages and Brie to start and the dressed crab and whitbait between two of us.
Really good meal, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not particularly great value for money spent. It’s a small place, rather cramped space and a “just there” kind of atmosphere and the food was ok, average at best and really enjoyed the prawns in the seafood sharing platter also loved the Mojito Mocktail but that was about it.
The rest of the guys in my group did not particularly enjoy their meal. We’d advised there was a nuts allergy but was he still served salad with sesame seeds. It was however replaced with more salad.
The service was really good, smiles all around and really helpful (one of the guys was rather dramatic with a patron outside and didn’t know how to control his emotion on how upset he was), the others were really pleasant and that was a plus.
Visited just out of season on a Monday evening. Still a little bit of atmosphere. Seemed popular with the locals for the cocktails which were being freshly made behind the bar.
We needed somewhere fog friendly. This venue was. But only in the bar. We were created and seated quickly. Service to order was a bit slow. But the food arrived quickly. We had asked for the whitebait to come ahead of our meal but it all came together. Not a big issue for us but might bother some.
Good quality was good, and there were a local selection of drinks. Most of the staff were friendly.
A great spot for families and children. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a varied menu that caters well to a range of dietary needs. A dependable choice for an easy, enjoyable meal out.

Fully gluten-free and cater for coeliac as well. Service was very fast. Imagine being very busy in the height of the season. Bravo for the Incredible food and the open kitchen was nice touch! Always good to see the chef!
An excellent modern restaurant with a good range of traditional and modern meals, from snacks to large mains. On our two visits, we have been made to feel extremely welcome with friendly, fast service. Food is excellent and portion size most generous. I highly recommend The She'd.

Home to over 100 rescued donkeys, ponies, and horses, the sanctuary offers visitors the chance to meet and interact with these animals. Run by volunteers and operating on limited funding, the sanctuary provides a second chance for neglected animals.
I was pleasantly surprised at the beautiful greenery & vast space these donkeys & horses get to live. I liked seeing people move the donkeys & horses to shade on a hot day & inviting them in for food. A worthy cause to donate to where the animals are loved & cared for

Such a lovely place. So many cute donkeys and they get the best care possible. There is a cute little vegan cafe, too. Clear recommendation.
My daughter had a donkey adopted to her for her Birthday (Bunny), so we wanted to come and visit her. My kids absolutely loved seeing all the donkeys. You can see they are well looked after and loved. Their stables and barns were in a great condition and had lots of space. We went into the Vegan cafe which was lovely and the staff really nice. We purchased donkey merch in the gift shop. My daughter loves her Bunny cup. Overall lovely visit and could donate when there. We will be back and I am sure my son will have a donkey to his name by Christmas haha (Bertie)

Myself and a friend visited the sanctuary today and we couldn't have had a better experience. All of the staff and volunteers were amazing with a special shout-out going to volunteer Bob who was greeting everybody on the gate with a massive smile and great chat. Entry to the site is free, but donations are appreciated - even if it comes through buying something at the gift shop. Another shout-out to one of the other members of staff, Rachel, who we found frequently gently encouraging the donkeys to get closer to the public for cuddles and love. She was also taking people's phones to go get close-up photos for them. The ladies in the gift shop were super friendly, and the café staff were excellent when dealing with an allergy in our party. All of the animals were obviously very well cared for. As people who grew up with horses and donkeys, we could tell they all get the best love, and staff are obviously dedicated to their wellbeing. The sanctuary has lots of parking including accessible spaces and drop off zones. Everyone was happy to be there, including the many families with young children. We didn't come with a dog, but saw many wandering around, greeting the donkeys themselves. We will almost certainly be back (probably in a few days!). Thank you to everyone who volunteers and works there!!

The 5 hour dolphin and whale watching tour was a brilliant experience! Sadly, the whales were busy that day, but that's how it goes sometimes with wild animals. We were lucky enough to see plenty of dolphins, porpoises and a couple of seals.

The boat is comfortable and well appointed, and is a stable viewing platform for sightings and photography.
All of the crew are deeply passionate about the wildlife of Cornwall, and have a deep desire to share this with their customers.
I absolutely love that they are still excited about seeing something special or unusual, and this excitement absolutely flows onto the passengers.
Of course this is a wildlife cruise, and the wildlife may well have their own plans for the day, and so can never be guaranteed to be found.
But I do believe that everything that can be done to increase your chances of finding and observing the wildlife is delivered without fail by the crew.
Additionally this is a trip on a boat, so beholden to the weather conditions, but their choice of sheltered Falmouth as a location means that the chances of the weather impacting your trip are as minimised as they can be.
We have tried other organisations trips, both in Cornwall and further afield, but have found for all round service, quality of viewing, attention to detail, and friendliness AK Wildlife Cruises are amongst the very best.
I totally recommend AK Wildlife Cruises – I genuinely believe that like us you will keep returning.
An outstanding trip well worth the money. The entire crew are amazing at what they do especially Kieth the captain. My father is disabled and I have a daughter in a pram. They was so accommodating even moving the boat from one mooring to another to accommodate my father getting on board. The trip was very informative but in a very friendly encouraging manner. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to get closer to the wildlife that Cornwall has to offer. Thank you to the entire crew. We will be visiting again soon
Honestly amazing. We did the three hour trip today (12 Aug “The Burfords”) and we were so lucky to see dolphins and a baby minke whale in the bay. The captain was so warm and welcoming and the crew were so knowledgeable and they all showed so much respect for the animals doing everything on their terms. The wildlife we have in the UK is truly amazing and I would recommend anyone who is in Cornwall to use AK Wildlife Cruises go and explore. Thank you again and hopefully we will see you again soon!
We had a great 3 hour cruise. It went so quickly. Captain Keith and Skipper Jake were great!!! Knowledgeable and friendly the time flew by. As did the dolphins. Lots to see today. Birds/gulls diving for their fish dinner, seals being curious and so many dolphins!
Captain Keith delivered an informative tour. Josh was also very helpful. There is no guarantee that you will see any whales and that is exactly what happened to us. However, owing to Keith’s expertise we did find ourselves in amongst a pod of about 150 dolphins. Absolutely brilliant. I would definitely go again.
We felt really welcomed and safe. There was a family atmosphere on board and every consideration was taken to ensure our wellbeing and comfort.
Capns Keith and Jake and crew Cam and Emily, were extremely knowledgeable and informative about the local wildlife and it was good to hear about the local coastline and history too. We were very honoured to meet them and feel lucky and grateful to have had this wonderful opportunity.
We were extremely fortunate with the weather and were thrilled to see so many seals, porpoises and dolphins and a minke whale too! Seabird sightings were numerous and particularly exciting for Kosmo as he was hoping to see Shearwaters. We saw Great Skua, as well as Gannets, Razorbills and Kittywakes (this is not an exhaustive list!) and we were not expecting to see Chough, which was an extra treat!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the boat and will definitely book again.
It was extremely straightforward and easy to make the booking and lovely Lauren in the office, was helpful and communicative throughout.

Beautiful, peaceful. Work in progress gardens with lovely woodland walks.

Beautiful privately owned gardens lovely at any time of the year.But it is at its most beautiful now and probably for the next week, Enys has the most beautiful bluebell meadows yes l said meadows.There are also more formal gardens and orchard. There is a small cafe offering cakes and light snacks. It’s costs £14-00 per adult, well worth it in my opinion.
We visited today (May 6th) to see the bluebells and walk around the grounds. This was our first time at Enys Gardens and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The sun shone, the carpets of bluebells were stunning and the walk around the grounds was peaceful, tranquil and just perfect. Bluebells everywhere!
We were in Port Isaac when I found out about Enys Gardens. Made the trip to see the fields of bluebells and garlic. Even though it was raining, we were not disappointed. Absolutely beautiful carpets of flowers. The smell of the wild garlic was amazing, even through the rain. We'd love to go back and see the bluebells before they were knocked down from heavy rains.
We went to the fascinating Cornwall Heritage session Awenack. It was excellent! Lovely place , lovely gardens, lovely people!

I ordered a Minecraft bigmac meal on uber eats around an hour ago. I when I got it I opened it to find I didn’t receive my Minecraft collectible, the fries were cold and the burger looked like trash. Not good enough, this place is going to the dogs!
Placed an order for delivery after calling up to make sure the delivery systems were working, because I remember them having that issue a few weeks back. I was told everything was working as normal, but then my order was stuck on preparing for an hour, and the estimated delivery time was repeatedly pushed back with no updates. After a long back and forth with customer services, I was issued a refund only to be told it would take up to 15 days and that I'd only be getting refunded the cost of the food and not the £3 delivery charge.. for an order that never even made it into a car, ridiculous

I don't understand the negative feedback as my own experience with Choy Hung House has been consistently positive. I receive a delivery from them about once a week, and each time the food is hot, appetizing, and well prepared. The portions are ample, and the delivery personnel are always punctual and cheerful. If their quality matched some of the criticisms I've read in other reviews, I wouldn't continue to order from them.
Portions were large. Food was not bad. We ordered the beef udon and roasted duck rice and both were good. Unsure why some reviews said that the service wasn't great, but the Malaysian (I'm assuming boss) lady was very nice!! Will be coming back often!

I personally enjoyed my mushroom balls in sweet and sour sauce. The seaweed was amazing! My husband enjoyed his mushroom curry and my oldest son enjoyed his meal. I haven't given a 5 star because I ordered a Mushroom Chow Mein and a Vegetable Chow Mein, when my family opened the tubs (neither had been labelled) they were exactly the same. They were very sweet and ended up being thrown away.

I do not understand the bad reviews, that is not my experience. I have a delivery about once a week. It is always hot, appetising and well cooked. The quantity is good and the delivery guys are always cheerful and arrive on time. I would not re-order if the reality met some of the below reviews, which it does not.
Second time the total price online was different to what the driver asked for so be aware if you only have correct money as their website is misleading. Also spent £50 but didnt receive our prawn crackers as listed on order. With takeaways being so expensive you at least want it right!
Tasty food, decent portion sizes and didn't have to wait long. Only annoying thing is the menu on the Facebook page is really hard to read, so hopefully these pictures are helpful to someone.
Wonderful food. We had the vegetarian dishes and they were great no complaints. Delicious and a surprising variety of vegetables.

The food itself, I am extremely critical of Sunday roasts, as you will see from some of my other reviews. So when I say that this is the best roast, in Falmouth, it comes from a place of experience.
The Yorkshire pudding, incredible freshly cooked,you can tell. Some of the restaurants in Falmouth will cook them probably the day before and you can taste that they have been.. the roast potatoes !!!! absolutely delicious, full of flavour and beautifully cooked.
The meat the beef is real beef none of this stuck together crap that you get in some of the other restaurants in Falmouth. This was beautiful beef cooked splendidly.

The gravy !!!!!! Now that is worth a special mention. I have not had proper chicken gravy for a very long time. This is proper stuff clearly cooked with the chicken/ Beef stock and the flavour is exquisite.. Vegetables served separately and cooked perfectly.

Great Sunday lunch with a seaview. Great welcome, friendly staff who were very busy but attentive. Best check which seat you have some are high not best for back/hip issues or short.
Have stayed at the greenbank before and was unable yongey a table, now we have finaly eatern you can undetstand why! WoW great food and a service to match, at a super price, gamon was the the chefs choice today, so had to irder both the beef and gamon, and i was disappointed, the plates came out full of meat and potatoes and then 2 big bowls of veg came as well, too make it even better you only had to ask for more and they were only too happy to bring you another bowl of veg, drinks choices is wide with some goid beers and largers, aling with many choices of wines, gteat place to come if you have dogs, as what i observed was first rate to accomadate customers who had there dogs with them.
Stopped in for an evening meal and had a great time! Great service, wonderful views over the harbour (we even saw a seal bobbing around) and interesting menu. I had the catch of the day and my husband had a burger - both delicious. Dessert was a sticky toffee banana pudding (all the dessert buzzwords) with custard and was fab. Would highly recommend for pub grub, their excellent reputation is well deserved.
This is one of the nicest places I've been. The Working Boat is in the Green Bank Hotel with amazing food, a great selection of beers, and a really nice atmosphere. Very friendly bar staff and waitresses and waiters. The views are absolutely beautiful, overlooking Falmouth Harbour. I have been a few times and have never been disappointed. You do not have to be staying at the Green Bank Hotel to use The Working Boat. It is a very relaxing place to eat and drink with many bonuses. Absolutely love this place ❤️ Cheers, Vince.
The service here is amazing! We had two lovely people I believe their names are Jessica and Roz! So friendly. Made sure the food was perfect for us! Even brought us extra gravy. Freddie was a laugh too! Got us drinks sorted right away! The roast was next to none other. It was amazing. Great portion sizes. I love how it’s plated so you can choose the veggies you want! Falmouth Art Gallery is a must-visit attraction, boasting an impressive collection of around 2,000 artworks including British and French Impressionists, surrealists, maritime artists, and contemporary painters. The gallery features works covering the Arthurian legend associated with Cornwall and pieces from renowned painters like Thomas Gainsborough. Visitors can also explore diverse exhibitions that change regularly and participate in workshops and art courses for both kids and adults.
A superb gallery of historic local art. Falmouth has a superb selection of galleries and this is a fine addition. As well as past art work there was a contemporary pieces and exhibits that ranged from the funny and whimsical to the thought provoking. I very much enjoyed my visit.

A small but lovely art gallery with a charming little shop (prices are on the higher side, but that’s expected). What really stood out was how engaging the installations were — not just for adults, but for kids too. It’s wonderful that children are encouraged to interact with the exhibits, which makes the whole experience more fun and memorable.
The current exhibition on technology and art was especially interesting and thought-provoking. Also, very convenient that there’s a toilet nearby — makes a big difference when visiting with kids.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Visited the exhibit of ‘The Legend of King Arthur: A Pre-Raphaelite Love Story’. I had always wanted to see The Lady of Shalott in person. I visited Tate a while ago but it was being exhibited elsewhere at the time. Now it’s exhibiting in Falmouth and it was just great to see. Such a great exhibit overall. Displayed well and with a shop.
Small gallery with limited display space. Enjoyed what was on display but some of its better works weren't exhibited, which was a shame.
A small FREE gallery but I found the exhibition on automata fascinating. I admire the exhibitors (most of whom are local to Falmouth) for allowing some of the exhibits to be played with (most people are careful but I was concerned about the child who was seeing how fast he could turn the handle - why wasn't the parent explaining that for everyone to enjoy these exhibits, we most all be respectful and careful not to break them).
Beautiful, detailed work - often very complex scenes - as well as larger models/automata.
Activities for children (everyone, probably) to try.
Show your support for this small free gallery as we were told that the council needs to see that it is worth keeping it open by the number of visitors it attracts.
Free gallery above the town library. Real good exhibition of local interest artists and some good multi media (video art). It is small....free but very well curated and a pleasure and surprise to visit. Well done.
It's ok. Smaller than I thought it would be and a whole section was filled with rocks which don't interest me much. The central bit about Falmouth history was good and upstairs was a bit forgettable. Overall good but too expensive.

Cannot recommend it enough, the atmosphere is amazing, the quality of the drinks and their pricing is on point, and the staff are lovely.
I massively recommend getting the "Green Knight" on the hot days.
Wonderful selection of books as well, including some unique cookbooks and stylised hard covers of classics such as Dracula.
As an avid reader I simply had to find a bookshop to have a look around whilst I was holidaying in Falmouth. The owner was incredibly friendly and very helpful. Would certainly recommend anyone visiting the area to pop in.
Lovely independent bookstore with a wide selection of books spanning many genres. There is a large children's section and a little area where they've posted numerous cuttings from when they have been mentioned in newspapers over the years. There's also a little bench to sit and browse potential purchases. Full of charm.
Excellent selection of books- local interest, kids, crime and fiction. The highlighted books by the staff are interesting and I always walk away with a few new titles that I’m excited to read. Staff helpful and happy to you wander and take your time. Exactly what you want from a bookshop!
We didn't go to the book shop, but to the cafe above bookshop. We had lovely scones,jam and cream and a savory one, with a nice cup of coffee. Great atmosphere all bygone furniture, lots of different foods and drinks available.

The Poly, also known as the Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society, is a historic 19th-century cultural center in Falmouth. It features four galleries for art exhibitions and live performances including films and theater productions. The venue also includes a 180-capacity theater, a state-of-the-art pottery, exhibition spaces, meeting rooms, a fully licensed cafe/bar, and a shop showcasing local art and design.
Visited the Poly Guild shop today and fell in love! Beautiful gifts by local artists everywhere, lovingly set out and displayed. Walking around the shop felt like a treat in itself and I wanted to take so much of it home!

We are very lucky to have The Poly here in Falmouth. Very! It’s not just a cinema, gallery, shop, place of learning and a venue it’s a hub for creativity and culture in the town and beyond. Over the years I’ve been involved in Poly exhibitions, I’ve organised exhibitions, events and talks at The Poly, and partnered with them when I was running StreetDraw24 to raise funds for St Petrocs and their work with people experiencing homelessness. It was always a pleasure. A great team and a great institution.

I went to see a Christmas-themed play yesterday evening and I must say I enjoyed the production and the quality of the venue. It had a comforting feel and staff were very kind and helpful. Would highly recommend!
This historical place has been through a lot to keep alive and alive it very much is.
With events happening continuously and local art being put on show this place is like a giant display of local talent conducted by passionate volunteers.
It offers so much and asks very little of its customers.

It's an ok venue for a gallery. I visited the 2nd Year Fine Art exhibitions and whilst the art was fantastic, the venue felt a little tired. They have a cinema which is always showing the latest films, and the gift shop looked extensive - so maybe it's worth another try.
Great events, the auditorium is comfortable if a little warm in the summer. Drink and ticket prices are fair. It's good that Falmouth has an independent arts venue like this, please support it.

Went to the park for a picnic and there happened to be live bands playing, was a pleasant surprise. The park looked nice and my kids enjoyed the play area. Nice place to visit 😊

Because it's so beautiful and lovely my only complaint is it is always shut early evening. Gates locked by 5.30pm which I find extremely early.
Great small park in the middle of Falmouth. Nice kids play area. Very large bandstand. Currently the entrance gatehouse which has been disused for a while is being transformed into a community space which looks good.
Great peaceful green space in the middle of Falmouth. There are good toilets, a small pond teaming with goldfish and carp. There is also a large uniquely equipped children’s playground, this garden is not massive but is something for everyone. A green place of tranquility.

Such a beautiful hidden gem of a beach! Short walk from a conveniently located National Trust car park (free parking for National Trust members). Lovely little beach! Dog friendly all year round! Car parks cheap at £2 all day and all goes towards the upkeep. Nice 10 min down hill walk to the beach from the carpark. When we visited a part of the path down to the beach had collapsed so be careful but looked like it was in hand and being repaired.

It’s a steep walk down to the beach from the car park so probably it great for people with mobility issues. Car park is £2 for a few hours or £4 for the day. Bargain!
Sheltered hamlet on the north shore of Helford River.
Calm, clear water for bathing.
The beach is shingle or gravel as are all the beaches in this area of the estuary. Ideal if you own a dog but not if you want some peace and quiet. The water is quite shallow if you are a none swimmer. There was a primary school on the beach! Now is a private residence.
Unspoilt Cornish cove, popular with walkers.
Very limited facilities, which is part of the appeal, although some reviewers may drop stars for that? Basically a toilet and small ice cream outlet!
Cars are not permitted in the village - you need to park in a National Trust car park at the top of the winding lane.
Could be tricky for wheelchair users - the only way to the beach is a rough path, or on the lane itself. Parts are steep.
Lovely views as you descend and a sandy/pebbly beach to greet you.

A nice beach 🌊🏖 just ourside of Glendurgan garden🌳🌴. The children liked playing in the rock pools 🦀, we had a relaxing afternoon. Nice display in the National Trust shop/information center very interesting to read about the history. We enjoyed the ice creams 🍦 from there (National Trust prices but they were tasty). Would recommend a visit especially if you are already visiting Glendurgan garden.
Not a bad place but nothing to excite. Not much sand but lots of rock pools for kids to get in and out of. Hunting under rocks for crabs was fun. However, little place for ice cream is a traditional cornish RIP off. Tiny tiny icecream for £2 and near impossible to find a bin to put the waste in. Car park is at the top of the hill so a bit of a walk down and up, not that that is bad, but after a time on the beach with tired kids, it's not fun trunching back up the hill.
Views however are lovely.

We dropped in without booking, the staff were very accommodating put us in our own private area. Service was quick, good food recommendations. When the food came it was brilliant! I'd definitely recommend the sizzling dishes, any black bean sauce dish!

Today, I went to a Chinese restaurant with my family and had a wonderful meal together. We ordered the King Prawn Chow Mein, and it was absolutely delicious. The prawns were fresh, juicy, and cooked perfectly, while the noodles were full of flavor with just the right amount of seasoning. The portion size was generous, and the dish was beautifully presented.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit. It made for a really enjoyable dining experience.

No idea why this has such good reviews. I thought the food was bland, sauces lacked body and flavour, as did the beef, pork, chicken and prawn. Side order of chips was cold and dried out.
I can't even be charitable and give it two stars, very disappointed.
I would recommend you look elsewhere.
If you're from the US and looking for comparable Chinese food I think they are a good choice. The portions were just right. Good service we thought. Enjoy!

This hotel has a glorious outlook over the River Fal. The staff are friendly, well-trained and professional and are a great asset for the company. Our room was spacious, well appointed and furnished in a light and airy style. The public spaces are inviting and clearly great thought has been given to the styling. The food was excellent with a well considered menu. It is refreshing to find a hotel with such high standards and management and staff can be justly proud of their establishment. Could not fault it.

We enjoyed the bathtub, comfortable bed, the hotel smelled nice throughout, harbor view at breakfast and anytime at the deck/terrace. The breakfast was fine- a fair price, decent food, and a stellar harbor view. You must have breakfast there.
It’s not any fault of the hotel’s that parking is a bit difficult and the age of the building prevents it from being more handicap-accessible.
The hotel is in a beautiful location with comfy rooms and a great view. The restaurant is incredibly slow in the morning - you often need over an hour just to eat, and the staff is prickly the whole time. I was on a tour and they booked us here, but the hotel is better suited for those on a loose schedule, rather than on strict timelines as part of a tour.
Right on the harbor with lovely views from the restaurant. Odd layout and ups and downs making way to room until we figured it out. They have porters for your luggage. Bathroom great! Satisfied!!
Went to Greenbank Hotel for parents 60th wedding anniversary lunch.
Dining area looks out onto Falmouth estuary and you can see the boats on the water.
Service was fantastic and our lunch was excellent.
Highly recommended.

Great harbour waterfront hotel with amazing views, great choice of pub and restaurant dining with great menu's and food, sumptuous breakfasts, easy free parking, great staff and service. Short 10 minute walk into town and 20 minutes to the main quay for ferries all over the estuary. Recommend harbour view room.
This is a hotel I would very much like to return to due to the fantastic river-side location. This provides wonderful views from many rooms, plus easy access to the water to swim or paddle. Food and service are very good.
However, parking is a problem and front of mind when vacating a spot is whether anything will be available on return. Seems unlikely when there is a function on. Only solution is paying £35/ night to reserve a space.
Also, hermetically sealed fire doors mean no real cross flow of air possible in the rooms. In a warm spell this means an uncomfortable night.
Would be happy to pay an extra £35 a night if these problems could be addressed.

I have a strong affinity for the Chinese cuisine served at Rising Dragon, as it is consistently delightful and flavorsome. The amicable staff ensures a pleasant experience, and one can observe their culinary skills in action from the open kitchen. However, it should be noted that delivery service is not available, and cash is the only accepted form of payment. The food itself is truly commendable; I especially appreciated their ability to accommodate my preference for dry chow mein rather than saucy variations.

These guys are super quick as you can watch your food being prepared. Friendly efficient and tasty food . The sweet and sour sauce has a nice thick consistency to it while most take outs the sauce is runny wonton was nice and crispy and the mushrooms and beef in black bean sauce was a delight

Truly disgusting! Satay sauce so watery its basically a drink, Boiled flavourless chicken, the bean sprouts have no flavour. The chicken balls are the only redeeming factor. Big chunks of chicken inside a slightly seasoned batter. Truly disgusted. Never coming back.

Our most recent order at the Rising Dragon was outstanding. Generous portions of food with fresh veg, tender meat & very flavousome. It really couldn't have been better. The food is prepared in an open kitchen in full view of the customer and the service overall was very efficient. The only downside being that the once complimentary 'prawn crackers' on the house with a reasonable order have now been ceased.

I hate to do this, I never leave bad reviews but this will be my first. After being sent chicken balls that were cold, pink and mushy in the middle, to not refund my meal is unacceptable. Having raw chicken on my plate has obviously put me off my whole meal, and to only be given £7.20 refund is upsetting.
The food was average—not bad, but nothing special. However, the delivery experience was unacceptable. My phone died while I was waiting outside for my order, and instead of handling the situation professionally, the delivery driver came to my address shouting and cursing at me. He insulted me, called me names, and even made derogatory comments about needing to go to university. He also used the word "spastic," which is completely inappropriate.
This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, and no customer should be treated this way. I would not recommend ordering from here unless they address their staff's professionalism and customer service.

Today both of us were troughing up, and felt really unwell.
Their meals used to be reliable but lately not so much. Have used them for years but the last meal (delivered) was probably our last. Duck dishes had thick layers of really gooey skin, they used to take the skin off, not now. The duck was chewy. And as for the portion of the worst chips ever, soggy, bitty, tasteless, really awful. They chef/quality control has gone tired, so sad.
Amazing food and overall service... Just had an altercation on the phone regarding satay chicken (we ordered the wrong dish) and these beauties drove back to my house with the correct meal. Thank you so much to the kind women on the phone and to the lovely man delivering it, I'm beyond happy!

The food is amazingly tasty, full of flavour and you get a lot of it, so much that I always have a lot to spare for lunch the next day.

I am absolutely disgusted by the service of this Chinese. The wrong food was delivered after over an hour of waiting, half an hour later the wrong order was collected however, there was still no sign of the food we ordered. Another 40 minutes of waiting I contacted the Chinese and was told that we could have a full cash refund as well as the food. Yet another 40 minutes of waiting, the correct order was delivered before it was snatched from my hands after asking for the refund as well as the food as we were promised. I was screamed at for another 15 minutes to be left with no dinner after three hours!! I highly recommend that people do not order from this Chinese. The service was vile!!
