Located in the Bay, The Rock Garden offers a diverse menu of comfort food and cocktails, along with weekly specials. Its traditional setting includes an outdoor garden seating area overlooked by a rocky cliff, providing a unique dining experience. The spacious interior can accommodate various events and features live music, a dance floor, and big screens for sports enthusiasts. The menu boasts handcrafted pizzas from a pizza oven, as well as burgers, fajitas, sandwiches, salads, and desserts.
Had a lovely experience here with my wife. It was her birthday but we kept this quiet and just wanted a nice meal before going off to the theatre. We were not disappointed. Staff friendly and helpful especially with GF options. Some great menu choices and delicious food with some very delicate touches to make a difference to the dish. Highly recommend. Thank you.

Amazing! We had such a good experience. The reason for my review, is that I am in the industry and I rarely see how good the service was today. Tom, our server, was amazing. The moment we walked in, he greeted us with a warm welcome, sorted a table for 3 out very quickly, made sure our table was clean and presented menus. We then ordered promptly for our food and drinks. Best matcha I have ever tried and it looked beautiful. Food was absolutely amazing, we were very impressed. I am not just saying this, however Tom is an asset running the outside of the restaurant today. All of the staff were also very attentive and efficient, which again, I rarely see. I will 100% return - and left feeling very impressed! 😊 thank you for a lovely lunch, we really enjoyed it.

On 5th July our 50th Wedding Anniversary we booked a table for 6.30pm the latest time they could fit us in as they had a party at 7.30pm. When we arrived we were seated at the back of the restaurant and we were the only people seated. We ordered a bottle of wine off the menu to be told it was not available. We then tried to order Sea Bass but this was not available. I then asked if Lamb was available but this was also unavailable! We could only presume as there was a large party coming in an hour later all the food was being saved for them. What we also found amazing was that someone else was turned away being told they could not fit them in whilst we sat there in an empty room! By this time a waitress named Claire had taken over serving us. We explained to her it was our Anniversary and had chosen this restaurant because of the good reviews, but as they could not serve most of the things we wanted we would not be staying. Claire was very helpful and offered to try and find us a table at another suitable restaurant, which she managed to do. She also said we could stay seated and drink the wine we had got at no charge to us. To say we were disappointed with this restaurant is an understatement, however Claire was extremely helpful and a credit to the business.

I would highly recommend The Bay. Outstanding service on entry, the prawns and humus for starters were lovely , me and my girlfriend got the rump steak “medium rare” and it came just how we imagined. The drinks were lovely and all in all the price was really good for what we ordered. Would definitely be going back to the bay again when we come back down to Torquay
Kizzy B — Google review
I had coffee here whilst I waited for my daughter. The coffee was lovely. We decided to lunch here and had the corn fed chicken with mushroom and truffle linguini. It was absolutely amazing! My daughter will be going back there with her partner. The staff were friendly and attentive. The toilets were clean and tidy.

What a delightful restaurant! Sat outside for my delicious steak burger, on a balmy October evening. Lovely location, very friendly and attentive staff. Great coffee too.! Highly recommend.
Nicky F — Google review
Excellent location on the waterfront with good indoor and outdoor seating. Stopped for coffee/cake & milkshake. Very mediocre coffee and artificial milkshake. Its a shame that with a good location the offering does not match the location. They have visto next door offering a much larger space and good food and coffee. No wonder we were the only customers despite prime location.

We’d wandered along the stretch and The Bay had the best seats with a wonderful view. Fantastic service from Richard. Lovely beers, burger and prawn cocktail were delicious. Thanks for a great start to the weekend - excellent welcome, thank you.

Nestled along the stunning seafront, Pier Point Restaurant and Bar is a vibrant dining spot that has been delighting both locals and visitors in Torquay since 2006. With its inviting glass facade, this charming eatery offers a menu filled with locally sourced dishes, including mouthwatering mains and customizable pizzas. The restaurant's prime location next to the Princess Theatre makes it an ideal stop after enjoying a show or taking a leisurely stroll along the picturesque promenade.
The best fish & chips I have ever had. I have tried several times in different countries, at different restaurants, for cheap or expensive prices… I almost gave up, come to here cause my parents are interested in Fish & Chips. And then, we love it! For the burger and today’s special, they are both tasty. Nice beer, warm survive and awesome view. Decently highly recommend this place.

Fantastic service, thank you so much for going the extra mile to cook for our 2 dogs. Would be great on a menu to have cooked food for dogs, pull more in. Amazing chef, award winning fish and chips were so yummy. Great batter that covers fresh fish and homemade chips, mushy peas in a pot, tartar sauce also in a pot and I ordered curry sauce it a pot. Best I've tasted.
Caroline H — Google review
Perfect place for fish and chips! Can’t really fault Pier Point at all. We were quickly seated and the order process explained to us. Ordered via the app including a message for adjustments for the food. The drinks and food arrived quickly. And the presentation was great. The cod and chips were amazing - lovely light crisp batter and moist fish. Chips were sooooo good! I couldn’t finish the meal it was so big!
James F — Google review
This place has won awards for its fish and chips, and you can see why. The fish is excellent—light, fresh, and almost melts at the touch of your fork. Mushy peas are done properly too, which is a nice touch. Portions are generous, so even a half portion is often plenty. Several beers on tap, including the local Devon Rock, pair well with the food. It’s not cheap, our order of two half portions, one full portion, and two drinks came to £83—but the quality is high. There’s also a takeaway window if you want to grab and go, plus both indoor and outdoor seating with harbour views. Overall: Excellent fish and chips in a prime location, but be ready for the bill.
Dirk S — Google review
Absolutely fabulous! Ordered the smaller portion of fish and chips but it was well enough! Fish was beautiful, batter was thin and crispy, not the thick greasy stuff you normally get elsewhere. Couldn't fault it. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Torquay.

Excellent service today, everyone was so friendly and went out of their waym the guy seating tables was so kind and really looked after us. Great food as always and lovely drinks! One of our fave places.
Katie J — Google review
Service is good here. Waitresses are very kind and helpful. Serve fast. The atmosphere is good, they play nice music, few tables inside of the restaurant and few outside of it, all covered by umbrellas. The minus was the food, idk probably my choice was poorly I odered fish and chips, which was very greasy, not really much taste to it. My fried ordered different kind of fish and it was great, you could taste the fish, in mine it was just the grease. Menu have many different fishes to choose from and cocktails, beers, etc. In general I can recommend eating here. Ohh I forgot to say about the prices... very expensive. I know it's not cheap these days, but I feel like it's a bit too expensive. The view from the restaurant is so amazing!
Sylwia D — Google review
Really nice place.. food was amazing fish and chips of course! Couple of fine IPAs and craft lagers on offer. Service was great .. it was a bit pricey but I put that down to Starmer and his wretched govt killing people’s wallet .. business clearly finding it hard to survive in our run down costal towns which were once amazing places full of shops… but now lots empty. This place is def worth it though!

Nestled in the picturesque Torquay Harbour, The Offshore Bar and Restaurant is a vibrant spot that perfectly captures the essence of coastal dining. With its ample outdoor seating, it’s an ideal place to soak up the sun while enjoying a refreshing drink or delicious meal. The atmosphere buzzes with energy, especially during live acoustic nights that add a delightful soundtrack to your experience.
5 star for food, Service and Atmosphere I got fed up with Fish and chips and getting a poor meal I usually go for Haddock but in offshore they do Hake nice delicate sweet flavour I had it with chunky chips a really good meal with views looking over the harbour.

Had the most fantastic couple of days away. The hotel exceeded our expectations. Staff are fantastic especially Mandy. Nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely amazing food, We visited twice for breakfast and couldn't help but look at the menu for dinner, so we booked a table and returned for dinner while in Torquay for the weekend. The cooked breakfast, the pancakes, and also the Avo and cherry toms on sourdough! was super yummy. For dinner, I had a crab salad, it was super fresh and absolutely delicious, halloumi and avo in a brioche bun, and my daughter had halloumi, fries + peas, the food came out extremely quick and was all absolutely delicious, The staff are super professional and polite, we will certainly return when in Torquay and highly recommend a visit

Sea food week. Not offered menu. Had to ask for it! Seated and ignored, had to ask. Charged £101 for £64 bill. Starter of mackerel pate came without bread..who the hell eats pate with nothing to put it on! £9.75 for 9.mussels as a starter. Complained, had refund but very disappointed! Conscious club were immense, shame we left. Ideal location so very disappointed. This needs addressing urgently!
Debbie S — Google review
I thought this was a well above average experience in Torquay. The food selections had a great variety and a good number of vegetarian friendly dishes. My crab sandwich could have had a bit more meat for the price. The beer and soft drinks were excellent. The inside dining room was neat and pleasant, with a nice view of the marina. Our service was exceptional - asking us unprompted if we would like to move from a busy area to a more comfy one. I think this is a really great spot to visit if you'd like something a little more laid back on the "English Riviera."

Fish & chips restaurant
The restaurant Saltwater Fish & Chips is located in the town of Torquay, close to the harbor. It serves fresh local fish from Brixham market every morning, and is gluten free friendly. The food is excellent quality, and the atmosphere is lively and convivial. There is something for everyone at this popular venue.
Well, I've been to a hell of a lot of fish and chips shops and restaurants in my 58 years. Not many better than this one. The food was perfect. Starters of Squid and King Prawns were absolutely fantastic. The Fish and Chips, stunningly good. Hot, beautifully cooked, the fish batter was so good, and the chips lovely and fluffy and crisp. Even the bread and butter was excellent! Service was fantastic, such a lovely, engaging and friendly lady. Thank you Saltwater. Keep doing what you do. A bonus 6th star from me! 🌟
Sean O — Google review
Nice, clean. Very friendly staff, quick service. Nice portions and the fish, the fish is second to none, its the best cod I've had in years.
Luke T — Google review
The food tasted amazing. The portion sizes were not correct. We ordered a large cod. In any other chip shop I would say was a normal size not large. But the charged enough for it. The chip portions too were not at all large and we were very disappointed with the whole portioning sizes. The person who served us dipped her finger in the gravy to check the temperature before ladling into carton. Yuck.
Dawn G — Google review
Probably the best fish and chips i've had in Devon in quite a while, the portion sizes were really good in my opinion, (the picture was taken after starting the meal, I simply couldn't resist 😅) just enough to feel satisfied + happy. My family nor I realized that bookings were needed in order to eat here, and we were in a group of 5, so we figured upon entering that we'd have to leave, however the lady serving us was beyond lovely, saying that one table wasn't due to be used until 6pm, and so we could use that to eat: hospitality like this, from my experiences in cafes + restaurants around Devon, can be hard to find, however the staff here truly exceeded expectations, being so kind and welcoming despite the fact that we had made no reservation. The fish (a small cod, everyone in the party ordered the same) was so wonderfully flavorful and soft, and the chips were clearly freshly made and tasted amazing, not to mention that the staff multiple times approached to ask us if we wanted any more chips: having the option to have more chips, if the original portion isn't enough, is incredibly lovely, and we were all beyond grateful for the offer, however chose not to have more, as we figured the portions already on our plate were enough for our needs. I'll definitely be returning if we choose to come to Devon again, as the environment was lovely, the staff were so incredibly kind, and the food was exactly what we needed after a long day out in the sun.
Morgan S — Google review
What a fantastic plaice (pardon the pun!) Staff are really friendly and the fish & chips are beautiful, so fresh the cod melts in your mouth! Highly recommended! No wonder they are Torquay's #1!

Lovely little fish and chip shop. We sat in and the service was excellent. The staff were all friendly and professional and made us feel so welcome. The food was amazing, you cannot go to the seaside and not have fish and chips!! Would recommend you stop and try!

Best fish and chips I've ever had, I love that you can choose to have the fish battered, breaded or grilled. The haddock was fresh and full of flavour and the chips were perfect. The staff were very friendly and polite. Really recommend.

Bistro
Nestled within the historic walls of what was once St. Marychurch's oldest coaching inn, Memories Bistro is a delightful culinary gem that transports you back in time with its charming decor adorned with vintage enamel signs and nostalgic advertising memorabilia. The bistro prides itself on serving fresh fish sourced from Brixham, complemented by exquisite homemade sauces. Their commitment to quality extends to their meat, game, and poultry, all of which are free-range and locally sourced.
The food was fantastic and so tasty. Had the King Scallops as a starter and King Prawns as the main. The main came with some sides, as you can see in the pictures. The food was hot and service was quick, we were the only ones in on a Monday. As i had booked months before and despite the changing of the opening hours to now be closed on Mondays the owner honoured our booking and actually opened us for. All emails were always quickly responded too. I would certainly return to Memories and hope it continues and succeeds.

Jessie was the perfect host, so helpful -could not do enough for us. We were a big group and all the food was still prompt and delicious, between our group we tried most of the menu and were all really enjoyed it! If you're looking for a friendly intimate place with delicious food - this is the place. We'll definitely be back again - thank you Jessie 🙏

Tried Memories after new owners took over. Was very happy with the standard of food. Matched the previous owners quality. But after all they did mentor the new owners Jessie and David. Will definitely go again. Fish was excellent, so was the steak which was what we had this evening.
Susan U — Google review
Lovely place with such a lovely host. Jessie made us feel very welcome and served up some very tasty food. Would highly recommend if you're in the area.
Nathan B — Google review
I don't know why my original post was removed as I felt I gave an honest review so, I will try again, I only wished we had looked at reviews before going to Memories. On Saturday 23rd August we had an evening meal at Memories for four of us I have had the pleasure of eating here when it was under the management of Gordon and Hazel, the food was stunning, well worth the sometimes many weeks to wait for a booking. Unfortunately Memories is not what it used to be. We were greeted by Jessie on arrival, Jessie was lovely and I cannot fault her in making us welcome. Unfortunately thats where it ends. It was clear not long after being seated that Jessie was the only member of staff that night covering front of house, bar, waiting tables, preparing and cooking the orders, something that is impossible for any catering establishment let alone a fine dining bistro. Things started to go wrong when our drinks order was taken. I ordered a glass of Harvey's Sauvignon Blanc only to be told that the lady on the next table had the last glass, Jessie went on to say that she recommend the Pinot Grigio as there was not any offers on at Bookers or the Supermarket (not something you should really be telling your customers Jessie). I didn't really want a Pinot as its not a drink I usually go for, but, I didnt want any upset so I agreed to one, I must say it was in fact one of the nicer ones I have had. There were 9 covers in total that night. The wait for our food was exceptionally long, it didn't help that Jessie was flying around serving and rushing back to the kitchen, even if we wanted more drinks there was no one to accommodate us. In all, our food was not of a standard we were expecting. I did have a concern with one of the starters being undercooked. The cuts of meat were not of a high standard or cooked exceptionally well, it didn't help matters that our orders consisted of Steak and Rack of lamb and there was no steak knives only plain everyday cutlery. Vegetables were cheap frozen chips and peas and were not Bistro standard at all. We arrived at Memories for 7pm and our main course didn't get to our table till nearly 8.50pm. This is not a cheap eating place we spent in excess of £120 for food that was bland and frankly not great. Please don't waste an evening here or your hard earned money until things hopefully change and Memories becomes an outstanding Bistro once again
Bren W — Google review
Promised so much but the food doesn't reflect what is on the menu. The "beef fillet steak" is a rump steak and the menu says with potato but it actually comes with chips, carrots and spicy mushrooms and no potatoes available - for £21.95 + £1.95 for sauce that is steep. The other couple who were in the restaurant questioned the potatoes well. Oh my gosh - the sticky toffee pudding was solid and rubbery and had absolutely no sticky or toffee in sight. It wasn't by luck as all 3 of us suffered the wrath of the microwaved offering. The bill on my card was £96 for 2 steaks, 2 starters, 3 puddings and a couple of pints of beer and 3 lemonades, phew. The bill was labelled as being from the Daylesford Hotel on Bampfylde Road so I imagine they are linked. Run by one Chinese lady who was cook and waitress. Sadly won't return, disappointed because I had high hopes for this place.
David W — Google review
We had a warm welcome when we arrived and were showed to our table. From here on in all started to go down hill very quickly. There was only 8 people in total tonight in the restaurant, it soon became obvious that the lady owner was doing every single thing herself, starting with drinks which was a fiasco, taking our food order, serving the drinks then dashing in & out of the kitchen, cooking all the food & serving the food. It took forever. Fine dining at this Bistro is not going to happen. The lady owner tried exceeding hard to cover all aspects, very polite but unfortunately for one person this was just too much. Starters Calamari was ok, but the chicken wings were very undercooked & raw on the bone. Mains Rump steak was tuff as old boots with no sign of a creamy pepper sauce as ordered. The racks of lamb came out as 4 very thin anaemic tiny chops, served with chips, frozen peas & sliced mushrooms. Very poor standard and not worth the money. I would not rate this Bistro so please save your money.

Disappointing. Waited 7 mins as cook to order which was fine. Chips were soggy, small & stuck together, small, similar to what you’d get in a kebab shop at 3am. Fish was average pretty tasteless. Swung by on a Sunday evening 645pm, was so looking forward to a good feed. No pride in what they are offering.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Torquay, Bistrot Pierre is an informal bistro that invites you to indulge in classic and seasonal French cuisine throughout the day. Whether you're stopping by for a casual lunch, a midweek treat, or an elaborate three-course dinner, each dish promises to be beautifully presented and freshly prepared. The menu caters to diverse palates with options for vegans, vegetarians, and those requiring gluten-free meals.
Booked a table for 6pm turned up early and was able to sit straight down. I did request a window seat but it looked like they only had tables of 4 by the window which was a bit of a shame and we where squeezed in to a table I would say was far too close to other tables both sides so to get in and out was a bit awkward. Luckily there wasn’t anyone sitting on one of the tables next to us other wise I would have dropped a star. That was the only negative thing but like I say luckily there wasn’t anyone on one of the side of us so it ended up not being an issue. Service was spot on our waiter was there when he needed to be and not constantly coming over brought our drinks and food out in great time. We got the 3 course meal and 2 glasses of the house red which I recommend. Jug of water brought out to us when we sat down nice touch. Starter we got the calamari really delicious. Both got steak, chips and garlic sauce which were cooked to perfection. Then we got the cremè brûlée, chocolate mousse and we got the baked cheesecake which all were outstanding and tasted so fresh. The bill automatically adds a tip 10% which I don’t really agree with as it should be up to you if your experience deserves a tip. Am not sure if you can ask to get this taken off but on this occasion the staff 100% deserves that 10% and more if I had cash on me. When we come back next year we will definitely be returning 10/10 well deserved thanks.

Great location with wonderful sea views, booked in advance, delicious food: starter, main course and dessert. The service is very slow, we waited for the waiter to order the dish, then to pay. The outdoor terrace has iron chairs, cold for the buttocks, felt uncomfortable, if there were some cushions on the chairs it would be great.

We ended up going to Bistrot Pierre after exploring the Torquay harbour looking for a reasonably priced restaurant with our dog. I wish we had gone straight here if we had known how good the food was and that it was dog friendly! The set menu was well priced, 2-course £20.95 and 3-course £24.95. Our meal (red pepper & tomato arancini, chicken fricassee x2, crème brulee and dark chocolate mousse) was absolutely delicious, full credit to the chef. Fantastic flavours and presented extremely well. The service was also very good, well done to Igor (highly professional and friendly) for bringing water for the dog and generally looking after us throughout our visit. The venue, with great views of the harbour and split across two levels) had a cosy feel to it and even had an outdoor fresh seafood bar next to the restaurant. We were very impressed with our visit to Bistrot Pierre and would recommend this to anyone looking for great food and service while in Torquay.

The food was delicious. The burger and chicken were well-prepared and very tasty. The waitresses were a bit strange at the entrance; they didn't notice us because they were busy talking. We didn't know if we could come in or not. I think the staff needs work because the place is nice, but things like this will stop people coming because the waitresses don't create a great atmosphere. The view from this restaurant is charming; you can have a nice time eating and admiring the beautiful views. I highly recommend the food; you can definitely eat delicious food here.😀😀

Food and views were amazing as it’s right by the seafront , great value for money on set menus that change seasonally. We had the steak frites and three small plates to share and all of it was cooked perfectly. Staff were attentive and friendly and the meal flowed nicely would recommend 100%.

Takeout Restaurant
Amici is a smart Italian restaurant located near the harbor, offering a variety of hand-stretched pizzas and classic pasta dishes. The family-owned restaurant has an extensive vegan menu with options like pizza, pasta, salad, and risotto. The vibe at Amici is described as family-style, where patrons can enjoy hearty pasta dishes or creamy rice cooked with fresh ingredients. With its contemporary ambiance and excellent service, this recently opened restaurant provides a great dining experience.
It's been a good ten years since I last ate here. Whilst I'd never experienced a bad meal, I had always felt it was a little lacklustre, especially in comparison to its 'big brother' Bianco's across the road. Fast forward to 2025 and it was like eating in a different restaurant. Loved the contemporary interior decor, and the service and food were exceptional. Hearty portions of main courses, a side dish, one pint, one 250ml glass of wine, and two desserts cost slightly south of £70 which I thought was very reasonable.

The food was delicious! I ordered the Mauro Calzone and it was absolutely amazing. For dessert we had Tiramisu, which was unfortunately quite average and below my expectations. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant itself is spacious, stylish, and welcoming. Overall, a good experience and I’d be happy to come back.

Portion is good. The quality of food is alright but wouldnt come back for the same food we had. The risotto rice is wee bit hard, seafood in the pasta bit soggy. The service is great! Lovely staff. See my review about the italian place next door.

Everything 5 * the lovely young lady kody served us. She was amazing and had great customer service skills telling us about the history of the restaurant and answering any questions we had about the menu. She really made the meal extra special and not only was it the best Italian I've ever had it's ranked in my top 3 best ever meals I've had. Absolutely top class food, atmosphere and service. We will be back one day for sure 😃

Ordered asparagus and got 2 stems for £13 and wasn't cooked. It had 4 rolls of ham, and a split up buffalo cheese, with rockets. Ordered seafood linguine and wasn't much clams, 4 king prawns, strong garlic taste that follows you till next day even when brushing teeth and mouthwash. Beginning had no flavour and flavour came from the pile of paramsean cheese (a lot of it) which dissolved quickly into the "broth". It was quite watery. Lemon was also available. The dish was filled with spicy chillies too. It tasted so bad we couldn't finish it. Wish we didn't order 2. They had no tables inside so sat outside, there was no heater available, but we did have a blanket. The wait for the food was 50minutes, we had paid for 1hr parking at first from behind the restaurant. The inside was too crowded, you can't walk through as people stand in the way. The toilets were tiny, the door skims the toilet seat, so to get in you have to stand in the tiny gap between toilet and toilet brush or on the toilet. When you sit, you hit your head on the handle. The toilet door was so close to the tables, when you open the door, I hit the customer who was sat in his seat having dinner with his wife. I can imagine him getting hit all night hence the wife sat on the other side. Disappointed birthday meal. Normally italian restaurants have higher standards. No table cloths, no flowers, no jug of water, no normal chairs (all plastic). The chair I had was broken so you can't even lean back either. Meal was also expensive for what was provided

We came here two years ago and loved it, so we had to come back again when we were in the area and the place was just as good if not better than we remembered. We came early evening and were seated straight away. The food was amazing, and the service was great too especially Emily who looked after us for the evening. Definitely recommend coming here!

Friday my husband and I got married at Cockington Court and we hired the dining room at The Drum Inn for around 40 people. We can’t tell you how happy we are with the staff here. They did just an amazing job catering for such a large party. Everyone loved the food. We brought our own decorations which was placed out beautifully for us when we arrived. Thank you again for everyone at The Drum Inn for helping make our day so special. We would definitely recommend to anyone getting married in Cockington to look at having their reception here.

Stunning pub in the middle of nowhere, with wonderful food, huge outdoor seating area to soak in the sun and a unique water station for dogs called ‘Scooby Brew’. The mains (beef rib bourguignon and slow-cooked pork belly) were very tasty and filling, but there was just enough room for a delicious mango & passion fruit pavlova dessert. The staff were friendly, accommodating and looked after us, absolutely no problem there. The pub really is a hidden gem with plenty of beautiful walks around, definitely worth exploring after a lovely meal!

I had a burger here and it wasn't great, which i would expect for this price (almost £20), it came very 'well done', dry and bit tasteless as they don't ask how you'd like it done. Only the bacon and bbq sauce were very good. On the other hand I really liked the atmosphere and staff were very friendly and polite.

Like the Lidl/Aldi ad where they served the food and asked the guests to pay what they thought it was worth and then told them it was all from Aldi, or was it Lidl? Chips weren’t freshly cooked. ✨ A Weekend to Remember at the Torquay Branch ✨ We’ve visited the Torquay branch a few times now, and it’s always been our go-to spot whenever we’re in town. But this past weekend was truly unforgettable. We popped in both Friday and Saturday night, and were lucky enough to be looked after by the incredible bar team — Will, Isabella, and Josh. On Friday, Will and Isabella made us feel instantly welcome with their friendly energy, expert cocktail advice, and genuine warmth. Their service was flawless, and they helped set the tone for a perfect evening. We were in Torquay for a special getaway — and we got engaged over the weekend! Naturally, we returned Saturday night to celebrate, and seeing Will and Isabella again (alongside Josh) made it feel like we were celebrating with friends. Despite how busy they were, they still took the time to chat, laugh, and make the night feel extra special. The team works incredibly hard, and it shows — not just in the quality of the drinks and service, but in the atmosphere they create. Thank you all for being part of such a meaningful weekend. We’ll treasure the memories, and we’ll definitely be back!

We decided to have a meal on originally going to the restaurant to sit outside and have a drink, being as it was a nice sunny October evening. Myself and disabled and so we didn’t want to go into a busy restaurant. It was nice to have the option to sit outside and I particularly like the warm blankets that were left for customers. My husband and I ordered a drink and then we decided to look at the menu. The staff were attentive and helpful. We were delighted to find that we could use the 241 offer on burritos and fajitas. So we ordered two of the mixed fajitas. They came out safely and were very tasty and presented well. I also downloaded your app and found it easy to use. We would love to return again. It was my first visit to Torquay Las Iguanas and we particularly enjoyed the atmosphere on the location.

I thought this was a tiny, very old pub. It is, but it has a very nicely decorated restaurant attached. Fortunately, we booked in advance for Sunday lunch. All 4 of us opted for the Sunday roast. Three had beef and pork, but I went for the turkey. My wife said her vegetables were undercooked, but I had no issue. The service from the young lady was excellent and full of genuine smiles. The food was extremely tasty. My stuffing on the side of my plate was possibly the best I have tried. Thank you for "Hole in the Wall," excellent service, food, and surroundings.

I just had to post this review even though we only called in for a few drinks one afternoon. A really kind and thoughtful young man was serving behind the bar. He overheard my husband mention it was my birthday. So when I ordered a coffee (that usually comes with an after dinner mint) a dozen or so arrived artfully arranged on a plate and topped with a candle. How nice is that? So thank you again to that thoughtful young man, and to any kitchen staff who may have been involved. You really made my day.

The 3 for however much is not worth it in my opinion, the nachos had a very gross cheese sauce all over them that likely came from a can that was sealed like 20 years ago, chicken wings tasted like fish for some reason while the mango and habanero sauce tasted like nothing. Chicken strips were just basic strips. Came again a week later for the cheap mains seen in photo below. They were alright but not enough to redeem the horror of those 3 sides from a week prior.

Both times I've been here I was blessed with Daisy-May as my waitress. She's so lovely and efficient at her job, always updates you on what she's doing if she's taking longer than usual and is the ultimate pink and black diva. On my birthday I came in to big balloons from my family and banners had been added by Daisy. At the end of our meal a male manager came over and took off everything I had ordered so it was all free. This was totally unexpected and generous service. As well as this, the chicken burger was so soft and full of warm flavour. It was so good I haven't forgotten it yet. Absolutely delicious meal, drink (in a rather nice glass!) and pudding. The sauce in the biscoff sundae is everything! 5 star staff and food, will always come to this beefeater. We do like the Lounge franchise but we do feel they are a little expensive for what you actually get. Service was slow, the member of staff said they were sorry but very busy. We used the app, which was fine, waited about 10 minutes for the food (which was fine) but then had to wait another 5 minutes for the drinks.... The location of the restaurant and the views are excellent. Staff were friendly but rushed. The food was well cooked but sadly nothing special. Friendly helpful and efficient staff. Interesting venue with nice views of the bay. We visited The Thatched Tavern last Sunday for a birthday lunch, while the experience had some memorable highlights, it didn’t quite meet expectations across the board. The location is great, with a nice garden with sea views and the tavern itself is full of character. The service was good and staff made us feel welcome. The food, however, fell short of our expectations. I ordered the slow-cooked beef rendang, priced at £18. While the flavours were good the portion size and presentation was underwhelming, especially given the premium price point. I had expected something more substantial and visually appealing. Unfortunately, it left me feeling a little disappointed and questioning the value for money. Overall, while the service and setting made the lunch enjoyable, the quality and presentation of the food didn’t match the expectations set by the price and surroundings. We enjoyed our time together as a family, but I’m not sure we’d return soon for the food alone.

Firstly this is such a lovely pub, beautiful garden but jabbing been a few times these guys need to learn how to deal with when a customer has not enjoyed their meal, we mentioned to the waitress that the salad wasn’t great lacked flavour and seriously lacking in beetroot (beetroot and goats cheese salad) the waitress asked the table next to us how their food was, ignored us for 20 minutes then when she finally came over and we said how bad the salad was , the response was simply “I’ll tell the kitchen!” Guys look after your locals, at that point a member of management should have come and spoken to us . This place could be packed it needs music, better customer service and management that follow up on any complaints .

The Shack is a British hamburger restaurant that serves the best burgers in town. All of their burgers are made with prime South West aged beef and they don't use any additives, preservatives, gluten or dairy. The Shack's seasoning provides that great taste to their burgers. The service at this restaurant is excellent and it is in close proximity to Melba House Bed and Breakfast.
I’ve been to The Shack a few times and it has been one of the most delicious burgers I’ve ever tried. The Shack is well priced especially in the weekdays between 5pm-6pm as they currently have a deal on for a burger, fries and a drink for £10. The staff are incredibly friendly and there is nothing to hate about this place !

Outstanding, staff friendly on arrival not a long wait for food either great choices of burgers chicken salad and drinks, burger was succulent and i highly recommend, also the chicken was tender full of flavour and one of the best salads iv tasted, I really wish this was nearer home I'd come again any time

Excellent burgers - great meat cooked to perfection with very nice toppings. The matador was very nice, with a balance of sweet and smoky from the peppers with the salty and meaty chorizo, reminiscent of Spanish flavours. However, I would not recommend swapping the fries for a salad...

Best burgers in Torquay! The staff is super nice and friendly, and the food is absolutely amazing. It’s a must if you’re around the harbour! I specially recommend the burger called “The Italian Job”, it’s original and delicious (with mozzarella, salami and pesto sauce!!).

Went there with the wife on the first evening of our holiday and I can honestly say these are the best burgers we have ever tasted. I had the Old English and my wife had the Billy Gruff burger they were both cooked to perfection and served with chunky chips, great value for money and well worth a visit if you're in the area. They also do a deal each evening between 5 and 6 pm of a burger and a drink for £10 pp . Go on fill your boots it's awesome!

Located on Torquay seafront, The Dock is a perfect spot to enjoy a light meal or indulge in something more substantial. The staff are both friendly and efficient, making your experience enjoyable from start to finish. Not only is the cafe welcoming to humans, but it also warmly accommodates our furry friends both indoors and outdoors. With comfortable leather sofas by the window, you can relax while observing the vibrant harbor scene during colder days.
Lovely busy place to eat, cozy atmosphere with amazing view and family friendly. The staff is also friendly and helpful. A bit pricey but it's understandable as all Seafood was freshly caught on the day and cooked really deliciously. We enjoyed our lunch today at Torquay. Thank you. The Docks totally recommended 🫶🏼

A thoroughly enjoyable restaurant with a nice selection of meals available! Had the catch of the day (sea bass) which was very lovely and then ordered some fries (rosemary, truffle+parm) which were really excellent. Staff were super friendly and welcoming too which was a delight given the issues our group had with some of the nearby establishments.
Jordan P — Google review
We visited twice over a weekend away once for dinner & again for breakfast as we’d had such a nice meal there. We had the catch of the day which was hake & the nicest dinner I’d had out in a long time. The potato cake & veg went with it so well. Others had the surf & turf which they enjoyed too. For breakfast we opted for the breakfast burrito & mcmuffin equivalent which were equally as nice. The dinner wasn’t cheap at £50 each with cocktails but we were celebrating a birthday

At the waitress' suggestion, I ordered a burger with caramelized onions and goat cheese. It was undoubtedly the best choice, 10 out of 10.

We had a fantastic evening at The Dock Café & Bistro in Torbay 🌊. We opted for dinner and couldn’t resist exploring their tapas menu — it did not disappoint! The pulled beef croquettes were absolutely delicious 🤤, and the panko fish was another standout 🐟✨. We paired our meal with some excellent local brews 🍺 before switching to the Torbay Fizz 🥂 — a must-try, especially while watching the sun set over the harbour 🌅. The combination of great food, lovely drinks, and that view made for a truly memorable night. Highly recommend!

Food is really great! Especially the beef croquettes and halloumi fries. It’s all good quality and decent portions. We didn’t have a sandwich but saw other peoples and they look well filled with doorstep bread! Definitely give this place a try. Dog friendly too.

Popped in this morning (27/7) for a cream tea. Ordered and paid for only to be told they couldn't full fill our order. No problem at all. Refunded the difference and what was served to us was outstanding. Would definitely recommend The Dock and will try and visit again before we return home on Thursday. Staff were excellent.
Darren A — Google review
Had a wonderful light bite to eat at this excellent venue! Enjoyed a sumptuous selection of tapas dishes that were beautifully presented and tasted just as delicious! My personal favourite being the pork belly bites, which were washed down with a crisp pint of Devon Rock and finished with a perfectly prepared cappuccino. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, and we’ll be returning to sample the live music. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nestled in the heart of Torquay, Chelston Manor is a delightful 17th-century establishment that exudes charm and character. Surrounded by its own picturesque grounds, this family-run pub has recently been renovated to create a welcoming atmosphere for all ages. With its proximity to the local Chelston shopping area and Torquay Railway Station, it’s an ideal spot for both locals and visitors alike.
This really is a hidden gem of a place. My wife daughter & I really wanted a decent pub meal, not a chain pub - real food. We booked over the phone for the 26th May for a table at short notice with no fuss. My daughter & I went for the pie & my wife had the Roulade. Our daughter cheekily asked for some melted blue cheese to put on her meal to which “No problem” was the reply. The ladies working couldn’t do enough to make sure we were happy and well looked after. On top of that the food was TOP, really TOP! So fresh and hot I had to let mine cool down a bit - the melted blue cheese was a great shout too to put on top of the chips which were so good. The meat in the pie was delicious. My wife’s meal was also excellent-not a scrap left on her plate. Finished off with a lovely blackcurrant sorbet which was lovely and refreshing. We’ve decided to come here more often because for value for money, genuine sincere service you can’t go wrong! Thank you for a lovely experience & we’ll see you again soon

Amazing food! Every time we go the food has been incredible. Form Sunday roasts in the winter to evening dinner dates and sunny Sunday afternoons in the beer garden. The service is always on point with lovely waiting staff and incredible chefs. Never had a bad experience and a real treat when we can visit.

Not very dog friendly.. told could only come in if well behaved.. asked for water and sent out to the garden.. the long way via building works… no dog bowls to be found… not very friendly or helpful… place also a bit tired and dated.. but the leather chairs are comfy

A wonderful local pub with a chef that really knows how to cook. Food is delicious and great portions. We eat here quite often as locals and it never disappoints. Service is always quick and very attentive and friendly staff.

This beautiful historic building is situated in a great location. Unfortunately, the lady who appears to be the landlady seems to be under a bit of pressure and doesn’t really want to be there. We visited the pub twice hoping to have dinner, and on both occasions, she seemed quite annoyed by the suggestion staring the kitchen is either closed or about to be closed.on both occasions it was around 7pm! If someone with experience in running a pub—offering excellent service, food, and atmosphere—took over this place, it could truly become a gem.

We were looking for a Sunday lunch near to our boarding house and found Chelston Manor. Quite location , lovely beer garden and more importantly a splendid Sunday Roast. I came in one night for a drink, and was tempted by a sweet treat, ended up choosing the pistachio cannoli- it was superb, huge cannolis with the most amazing pistachio filling. Whilst I ate my cannoli I noticed a table next to me got a pig cheek ragu which looked very tasty. Overall was very impressed, the service here was excellent.

My number 1 choice for evening dining in Torquay! 🇮🇹🙌 Portofino is perfectly placed away from the hustle and bustle of the seafront and offers a dining experience like no other in the bay. A fantastic atmosphere each and every night, with an authentic approach to its Italian cuisine 🇮🇹 The menu is heavily influenced by Pizza and Pasta, however the special board is always filled with exiting alternatives. Personal recommendations include the ‘Portofino’ Pizza (of corse!) and Caesar Salad, as well as the Skinny fries that are OUT OF THIS WORLD! 🤩

We rang and booked a table. We arrived 15 min ealry and was seated 1945. The table cloth wasnt clean and left over cutlery wasnt cleared. I had to ask the waiter for new cutlery. We ordered and we waited and waited. They were busy with take aways. We waited over an hour for our food with no "I am sorry for your wait". We asked the waiter at 21.00 if our food was nearly ready. He said "yes" it's coming now". We waited another 15 min and still no food, and at 21.15 we decided to leave. I'm not commenting on the food as we didn't eat anything, but the service was shocking. Maybe we caught them on a busy night, but the severe did not speak to us at all.
Anthony G — Google review
Look out for the free delivery when ordering takeaway. It's not free. We placed an order over the phone for delivery. We were quoted £32.50 for the food and told it would be 20 to 30 minutes. After an hour we called to find out where the food was. We were told that there had been some confusion and that they thought the order was for collection. The food finally arrived but the price had gone up to £35.80 at the door. Several minutes later after waiting in the rain while the driver called the restaurant from my front door for me to pay the remainder of the bumped up price, we were left with a bitter taste. No apology or attempt to rectify their cock-up. The food is good, but the customer service is poor and the delivery certainly isn't free as stated.

Blue Walnut Cafe Bar & Cinema is a small, charming establishment that offers traditional British comfort food. In addition to its café and bar, it also boasts an on-site gallery showcasing local artwork and a tiny cinema for indie film screenings. This fully-licensed venue doubles as a music venue, hosting regular live events featuring local bands and poetry slams. With its cool and quirky setting, the Blue Walnut Cafe Bar & Cinema is an ideal spot for a vegetarian brunch or relaxed morning meal.
This place is a really gem in Torbay serving a lot of local produce including local cheeses you can buy from cabinet and take away. Lots of free parking locally, lots of seating inside with the prettiest little enclosed garden where dogs can visit too. The food was delicious and my blue cheese burger was the best I have ever. The portions are large and quality ingredients used. The atmosphere is relaxed with nice back music and local feel. The waitress was very friendly and checked regularly if had everything we needed. It has a little cinema, lots of evening events and can be hired for private functions. It's a lovely place to visit and everyone is made very welcome.

A Standout Staple of Devon! We've been coming to this fantastic café for a couple of years now, and have always enjoyed the food and the friendly staff. My wife always orders their excellent kedgeree, which is one of their best dishes in our opinion, as it's very well balanced with seasonings and ingredients. I've sampled most of their main menu items, all of which are great. Today they had a special burger with a Devon blue-cheese , which I had to try. I have to say this was the highlight for me, as the entire burger was perfectly seasoned and cooked; I believe this was the best restaurant burger I've had in a very long time! The place is small, but don't let it fool you. The food is outstanding, and their cocktails are awesome. I'm looking forward to enjoying one of their tapas movie nights!

The atmosphere is friendly, and the staff are attentive and polite. The pub offers a great selection of drinks at reasonable prices, making it a popular spot for locals to gather with friends. The refurbishment has received high praise, creating a fantastic environment for patrons to enjoy live music and games like pool.
Great pub with good welcoming atmosphere and nice owners. Nice to see a juke box, pool table and dart board. Deco is fab and well worth a visit, go sit at the Wonderland table. Jail Ale was their strongest beer, nice and smooth.

After searching around Torquay looking for a decent pub we finally came across ‘The rabbit hole’ where we had the nicest pint (or 2) of doombar. The pub is welcoming and relaxing and has an amazing decor and prices were really good too. Really enjoyed our visit and will go back when we return as there is nowhere like it in Torquay.

Me and my family recently came to a birthday celebration for my mother and they did an incredible job for her! The quirky theme makes such a difference, it’s beautiful and tasteful. ,also the food and service was exceptional. Wishing for great success for the really lovely owners. Food, I can't definitely comment on as I only got a free taster roast. (It was good, very good. Rich gravy, and quality veg and meat cut.) But if the warm, welcoming, and generous owners and staff are anything to go by the food will be dandy. This is reflected in a deep desire to please everyone who steps through the door. And, let me say this, they do. So many towns, like Torquay, have been in desperate need of a pub like The Rabbit Hole. The proprietors have managed a blend of hip craft house, ye old English pub, and quirky tea room - all which blends immaculately. This is reflected in the clientele. Diverse and disparate yet all able to co-exist over a reasonably priced drinks, or two. All in one of the poorest parts town. The centre. It's only been open since June, it's still a work in progress (decent pool table, toliets) and they know this but, if they can maintain the spirit of the place that they have now it's going to be a roaring success. The question: how far down the rabbit hole will you go?
Jon K — Google review
Can't speak highly enough of this pub . Me and my partner went to a few pubs around Torquay and found The Rabbit Hole to be one of our favourites . We were greeted with such a warm welcome from Sam the landlord and the bar staff . There were a few locals at the bar who we got to know and had a fun night with . The work these guys have put into making the pub look and feel so nice is amazing and we very much look forward to going back again soon . Ady & Lisa x
