Amarillo in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Amarillo, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Amarillo offers a classic slice of Route 66 Americana, with roadside attractions, neon-lit diners, and the famous Cadillac Ranch art installation just west of town. Nearby Palo Duro Canyon State Park, often called the “Grand Canyon of Texas,” features dramatic red-rock landscapes, hiking, biking, and outdoor performances in summer. In the city, you’ll find Western heritage at places like the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum and the historic downtown district. Amarillo also serves as a convenient base for exploring the Texas Panhandle’s wide-open plains and iconic ranch country.
With favorites like The Big Texan Steak Ranch & Brewery, Burrito Stop, and Hodgetown Stadium, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Jason's Deli and Burrito Stop so you can get the best taste of Amarillo while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Restaurant
The Big Texan Steak Ranch & Brewery is a quirky, saloon-style steakhouse famous for its 72-ounce steak-eating challenge and also features a gift shop. It's part of the authentic cowboy culture experience in Amarillo, along with attractions like the American Quarter Horse Association Museum and unique spots such as Cadillac Ranch. The restaurant is mentioned alongside other local landmarks by artists and offers an indoor shopping mall experience with a food court and individual storefronts.
First things first this is a tourist trap, but its entertaining and fun. We watched while a guy attempted the 72oz steak challenge, he came up short. Our food was good, I’ve had better ribeyes my wife had prime rib both good but not spectacular. The atmosphere makes the restaurant.

We were excited to visit the restaurant and when we walked in and was seated right away and seeing the atmosphere we were happy until it came time to get waited on. We kept getting told our waitress would be with us and kept getting told without service. Then waitress showed up and told another waitress she didnt want to wait on us because she had other things to do so we had to wait more, finally a different waitress waited on us and food was good and plates were well served. Prices match the plates. Did watch the 72oz steak challenge. Wish experience could have been better especially driving so far just to see the hype..

I was looking forward to trying out this place especially after seeing it enjoyed from afar by others. Life finally took me to Texas and I made sure this place was on the route taken. I came away from it, like many do after meeting their hero's, very disappointed. We walked in, no reservations and were sat right away, in the nick of time too, as the crowd came shortly after. We ordered a couple of apps, the onion rings and a half-order of the Smothered Barbeque Texas Fries. The onion rings were okay, they looked way better than they tasted, way too much breading that fell off. The fries stole the show. They had a weird flavor when trying the individual components, together, as a dish, they were probably the best fries we've ever had. As for the main course, the steaks, that's where the problems begin. Actually the steaks weren't the problem, it was the person/people, running the grill. I got the 32oz Double Duke, ordered medium. It was butterflied, but the temperature was all over the place. Some parts were next to rare, other parts, very well done. My guest ordered the double filet, which was 2-8oz fillets, again, ordered medium. To say they came out still mooing would be an understatement. The outside was very well done, but the inside was raw. We told the server about this, she was very understanding and took it back to the kitchen to continue cooking. 20 or so minutes later, not exaggerating, they were brought back. One was super well done, the other, wasn't even touched, still extremely rare. We gave up, told the server again and it was removed from the bill. This turned into a very disappointed experience, that I don't wish upon others. A steakhouse that can't cook steak. Don't waste your time or money, many, much better options, are around.

I'm not gonna lie, I came to try the 72oz challenge. I try to avoid carbs, so they let me sub the potato for a second salad. There was another man that just started the challenge before me, so I was extra motivated to do it with someone else. When it came out, it ws definitely a monster steak. My only complaint is that it was very chewy. I understand, it's a sirloin, but it was tough. I eat 3-4 lbs of beef every day (I'm on a carnivore diet) and have no issues doing so. Even very fatty and gristley meat is fine with me. The sirloin they serve you for the challenge seemed like very dense and tough fibrous meat. I'm not complaining, it was very tasty and I had a blast doing the challenge but if the steak were a ribeye or at least had more fat, I could've gotten it down faster. I simply ran out of time from chewing. I even tried tearing everything into tiny bites by hand to make them easier to chew. The guy that started before me said he was simply full and gave up. If I had more time I would've been fine, I simply couldn't chew it that fast. The salad was simple lettuce, the shrimp were butterflied and fried (I scraped the breading off) and I didn't try the roll. There was no reason to force the carbs if I couldn't finish the steak in time. During the challenge, people came up to get pictures like we were famous. That was kind of interesting. After the challenge, I received a t-shirt that said I tried, I was able to keep the boot cup you drink from, and I got a napkin as a souvenir. Overall, it was a great experience and I really enjoyed it. Next time I visit, I'll get the 36oz ribeye instead. I'm sure it'll be a better flavor and experience, since I crave higher fat content.

If you are Big Hungry I would recommend you try this Big Texan steak ranch and brewery! It is very loud, lively and touristy with a lot to see. It was nice checking out the gift shop as there was quite a wait to get seated. If you have a fear of snakes I recommend you don’t go to the back of the gift shop! A big and very real Rattler was in a class aquarium. I had a big steak, Not a 72 ounce big steak but still big. I saw a few people complete that challenge and I was very impressed because they did not have Heavy set Statures at all. I don’t know where they put it all away. Since their challenge was live streamed with overhead cameras there definitely was no funny business. They won that challenge fair and square. I really enjoyed the fresh warm buns and the Carrot cake was realllllllly good! Will definitely go back hopefully at a less busy time. Our waitress was friendly enough but had to run around like a chicken with its head cut off because it was super busy. As fun and lively as the atmosphere is, we were sat at a big long table with perfect strangers. Luckily our table mates were good courteous people if we were sat with loud rude people it would have been a different experience all together.
Mr. B — Google review
A little confusion on where to get in line for seating and staff just let us stand there instead of giving direction. Once we got to the correct line, we were seat quickly. Our server was great and they all made the atmosphere fun and lively. Not being from the area, I wasn't expecting my steak to be cooked plain in the grill. It was cooked correctly just not seasoned. Loved the variety of sides! Would definitely repeat coming here if ever in the area again!

What looks like a small restaurant and gift shop from the outside is actually a giant barbecue restaurant with lots of surprises. The restaurant is straight out of the wild West and has both an upstairs and spacious downstairs dining area. It's furnished cowboy style with antique lighting, ranch and farm antiques, brand and more. I especially like the way the employees were dressed. They all had on boots and western wear and more cowboy hats. When you first walk in there is a nice size gift shop to your left. They carry t-shirts, candles, kitchen items and more. Be sure and ask to see Brenda before you leave. 😀 There is a bakery to your right that makes fresh fudge and cookies. They all looked so tasty and delicious. As you continue towards the back of the building there is a laser shooting gallery set up like an old western town. You can stand, or sit on a saddle as you shoot at varmints, tin cans and dynamite. Farther back and off to your left is the bar area offering 32 oz pours, cocktails and more. Be sure and check out the old black and white photos on the walls as you head outside. They have a huge outdoor patio complete with a windmill, stage wagon and large dance floor. There is also a covered patio, second bar and dining area. I had fried shrimp, fried okra and beans. It took a while to get my food as I had to order it to go because they don't offer weight service outside on the patio. Same went for my drink, you have to order at the bar. The food had generous portions, but was a little overcooked, except for the beans. There are lots of photo opportunities inside and out and a dog friendly dining area on the patio outback.

This place is what it is. Tourist attraction with an eat a 72 Oz. Steak and meal competition. If your looking for the best steak ever please look around. If you want to be herded into a gigantic room with massively long table seating so you can eat with a few hundred people right next to you. All the while watching folks literally on stage trying to make themselves ill eating a 72oz steak, baked potato and salad. Go here and enjoy. I gave it a 4 because it does what it intends to do extremely well. If I was rating it as a steak house. It would be much lower. Prices are not low, but you can take the plastic water cup with you as a souvenir. Go enjoy! We did and will go elsewhere next time to enjoy a little better meal and service and likely spend less.

Guests can unwind in cozy rooms while enjoying easy access to local attractions like the American Quarter Horse Association and Hall of Fame, just minutes away. The motel features an inviting outdoor pool for those warm Texas days, along with complimentary Wi-Fi to keep you connected during your stay.
This is must stop. We have stayed there 3 times now and it never disappoints. Rooms are western themed, comfortable, clean and provide everything we needed. The restaurant, bar and gift shop are fantastic. Staff is friendly with lots of Howdys Y'alls to go around, along with western attire. Food and drinks do not disappoint and the atmosphere is truly big texan.

A little older hotel but the room and a big bathroom were very clean. And quiet. The room was decorated in a western theme since it was Big Texan Hotel after all. Parking lot was very well lit and safe. Convenient location right off I40 and of course a delicious steak and meal at the Big Texan is a must.

The price and the fact that it is pet friendly is a major plus! We travel back-and-forth cross country several times a year and this is right at our halfway point. Plus, you have great food just a few steps across the parking lot. We will certainly be staying here again thanks big Texan! 💪

Stayed 3 nights and had a great stay. Very clean room that had a Texas bunkhouse theme which was awesome, and the staff was super nice and welcoming. I also like that the entire hotel had a vintage theme so it has a lot of character which is a welcome change from the bland boring corporate owned hotels that seem to be the trend now. Would stay here again definitely.

We are doing a Route 66 trip. We had high hopes for this place. We arrived around 10:00 pm. We are three adults and one child and had been driving all day from South Louisiana and all we wanted to do was take showers. We had one washcloth and there were ants all around our bathroom sink. Called the front desk and we were told that we could not receive any towels until 9 o’clock the next morning, which defeated our purpose because we were leaving at 7:30 AM the next morning. I was told there was no one on site to manage the property. Upon leaving this morning, I asked to speak to someone in charge and they denied me a number. We were very disappointed with our stay. Also, the rooms could use updating! I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Vanessa D — Google review
The online booking process was easy, and I received a text with check-in information right after booking. The text included a code for our room, which made check-in a breeze. The room itself was adequate but definitely in need of repairs and updating. The bathtub faucet was noticeably leaking, which had caused water damage and staining on the wood trim. When I went to place the bath mat on the floor before showering, I realized it was already wet from blocking the water's path from the faucet to the floor. There was also water damage on the ceiling above the closet and vanity area, with bulging paint and missing texture. On the positive side, the bedding and towels were clean, and the shower pressure and temperature were great. I did appreciate the attempt at rustic western charm—though the old cigarette burns on the bathtub added a bit too much “character.”
Jenifer R — Google review
Upside: Room and beds were clean and nicely decorated, plenty of water pressure and plenty hot water, very quiet almost to quiet. Provided fridge, microwave, keurig and tv. Close to food and entertainment, horse motel and truck parking available. Small dog park, I suggest using cause to walk around you and your dog will get stuck by what I call devil balls (you'll figure that out), easy check in and check out. Room was easily cooled in late September. Which meant flies were not bad either, tho a scatter was provided in the room. I like the window actually opens for fresh air (bottom floor). Called night before to make reservation and lady was very nice. Downside: bed was way to firm for my comfort and left early to sleep in the truck. No table in the room and only 1 wooden table chair. Pool was closed but sign said open. No smoking area available. Call to office and lady was not so friendly, asked about extra chair and one from pool was brought eventually. This was asked so could sit outside room so I'm sure if it was for inside room it would have been different. Tv had 3 different remotes and confusing. Finding an outlet to plug in for laptop or cell chargers a bit difficult. If staying for awhile there is no closet or dresser provided
Jodi F — Google review
Booked a room online as we were driving for a same night stay for me, my husband and our son. Check In was a breeze with the text and email confirmation I received. Room had some minor repairs needed, but nothing that stopped us from staying there. It has everything you need (microwave, mini fridge, tv, desk, ice bucket, cups). Location is right off the 40 and very reasonably priced. It was cozy with all of the western and wood decor, beds were comfy, shower was hot and worked great, and the room was clean. If you're looking for a cheap, no frill stay, this is it.

This shopping area is constantly upgrading and adding new store fronts to the area. And surprisingly, kept very clean and safe. It is very quickly becoming THE place to go for anything and everything you can think of. Given it's rate of growth, I think by 2020 every storefront will be rented and you'll be able to find literally anything you could think of within a short walking distance.

Hodgetown Stadium, a $45 million downtown stadium, is the home of the Sod Poodles Double-A baseball team. The stadium offers a great viewing experience with its perfect size and close proximity to the players. Visitors can enjoy good and reasonably priced food while taking in the game, and they can also look forward to post-game fireworks. Additionally, there are plenty of nearby parking options for convenience.
My buddy and I got tickets right behind the plate last minute. Almost a first for us both. WE HAD AN INCREDULOUS TIME enjoying the outdoor air...the sunshine...the warm air, all the little funny breaks and everything. Great crowd as well.. AND THEN THE FIREWORKS!!!! Super SUPER impressed!

Great time last night with Sod Poodles! Our company Davidson Oil put on a Summer Soirée for their employees on the City Federal Fiesta Deck and it was a great time!!!! Great seats and atmosphere! Handicapped parking on north side of Stadium at the soon to be old City Hall. Some observations of the Fiesta Deck: Just opened in May 2024. Next to press box, behind first base. Catered with hot dogs, burgers, cookies, potato salad and Pepsi products. Bar and Bartender there for additional $. Bring cash for tips for the caterer and bartender as they can't take any other forms. Plenty of table seating and bar stool seating with bar at railing to watch the game and eat. Comfortable patio style couches. Two large screen TV's to watch game on. Bathroom very close by. Elevator and stair access. Enter from Home Plate Entrance turn left and access using elevator or stairs. No issues for us with wheelchair for access. If you can't transfer from wheelchair to barstool, might be better to view the game on the TV as the railing gets in the way. It was a Marvel theme night and the fireworks afterwards were amazing!!! And most of all Ruckus came to visit us!!!!!! Oh yeah and the Sodpoodles won in a tight game against the Arkansas Travelers!! Lol. It was a fun game for a non baseball enthusiast. The fireworks and game shots behind Home Plate were from an 08/09/24 game with the Arkansas Naturals.

Nestled in the heart of Amarillo, the Amarillo Zoo is a compact park that showcases a diverse array of wildlife. From bison and big cats to reptiles, birds, and amphibians, this accredited zoo offers an up-close experience with indigenous animals of the High Plains, also known as 'Texotic.'
This was such a cute little zoo and well worth the visit! Or a zoo that is not very large. They were a large selection of different animals, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Its small not many animals but its cool. I'm sad to know the Male lion passed but otherwise our visit was okay. Only thing I really enjoyed beside the lionesses was the baby bear climbing all the way up a tree with mama bear sitting at the bottom watching(video)I caught it on film best I could. It was funny!
Zayla — Google review
I agree with a few on here that this zoo needs to be shut down due to poor conditions almost lots of places you cant even go to because its shut down or broken. Animals don't look happy at all and no staff at all one single guy in the very beginning. This zoo either needs shutdown or some serious funding from someone or the county or city of Amarillo. Its cool because they have some exotic animals. And some kids would really enjoy it if they havent been to any other zoo. Just seriously #shutitdown or freaking #Donate
Cody B — Google review
The animals all seemed very well cared for. They all had plenty of clean water and clean enclosures. You can get very close to the animals and there are signs at each exhibit reminding visitors not to yell at the animals or feed them.

Gabby R — Google review
Labeling Red Foxes as Gray Foxes. Facilities very outdated, at least take time to dust away cobwebs. The girl in front admission had an attitude when just being asked if they were part of AZA and I can definitely see why this zoo is not. Bears were not exhibit as well as other areas. Slight bit of enrichment for animals. There were not any tigers but two lions. Bobcats seem to enjoy themselves which was cute. Gift shop and Main White building closed. Overall sad zoo to visit, not even worth calling it a zoo. Visited this past Sunday.

Friendly staff- I like the zoo overall but I just was wondering, why would they put camels, donkeys, and goats and pigs in a dirt spot and put other wildlife in grass areas! Other Nana was pretty cool stop in and visit Support your zoo! 👍🏻😁

Wonderland Amusement Park, a family-friendly destination established in 1951, offers a variety of attractions including roller coasters, water rides, kiddie rides, and an arcade. It was recognized as the 2009 Park of the Year by Amusement Today. The park is home to the renowned Texas Tornado roller coaster and features over 30 rides and miniature golf.
We had SUCH a wonderful time! We traveled from Lubbock. We were huge fans of Joyland and were excited to see this family run park. The manager Adam noticed our Joyland shirts and was so kind! He made sure we had a blast, asked about improvements for the park, and happily welcomed us back with open arms. Fantastic Journey was too cool and we will most definitely be back!
Victoria M — Google review
This is a wonderful park for first time kiddos wanting to experience roller coasters most larger rides require 48inches and only 2 rides require 50 inches. Great place for under the 48inches too ! Small enough to get the kids interested and be able to watch them have fun and enough rides for adults to enjoy. The water slides will result in a wet ending but not bad on warm enough days, be sure to dress in dark colored bottoms!! The lines were pretty short while we were there, this created time to ride multiple times while not being rushed to get to another! The Texas Twister was a hit for us! Although be sure to be a people person and invite others to ride, due to the ride must have a minimum of 18 riders to function for safety reasons! There were a few rides that were down but all the employees and especially the maintenance men were friendly and shared how the park is coming along for future events! The price was higher than most smaller parks but I also understand the importance of them raising funds due to low volume and maintenance needed! There are options for all day passes as well as tickets for certain rides and times! I look forward to seeing them make upgrades to the park and adding the special touches in the future! Since this park has history it will always draw a crowd. We easily spent the whole day there and will be back again! Cash was not permitted at this park at the time we were there.

Great experience at Wonderland with American Coaster Enthusiasts yesterday. Wonderland is full of unique and rare classic coasters and flat rides. Texas Tornado is one of a kind and a heck of a lot of fun. I also really liked Fantastic Journey, the best example of a midway style dark ride I've ever seen. It's very well maintained and incredibly dark inside. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the park is clean and well maintained. I wish we could have ridden Hornet, but the trip was still very successful.

The park was great! This was my first time going, and I have to say I was extremely impressed with how clean and family-friendly the park was. Adam, their GM, was very knowledgeable about the park, and his customer service was impeccable! There were plenty of shade trees and a few water rides to keep cool. Food and drink were never far. I'd recommend anyone go and have some fun because I personally will be back.

1960s amusement park looks like it was last updated in the early 2000 for maintenance. Multiple large attractions not working great place to take kids. My advice wait for the carnival to come through town. Most of the rides and attractions are the same half. The major attractions aren’t functioning definitely not worth 50 bucks a ticket.
Jason W — Google review
Had a blast. We went for my daughters 2nd birthday. Not very kid friendly for those under 42inchs. Even with the slower water rides my daughter couldn't join. She had fun on the smaller rides. May come back when she is older.
Josie L — Google review
It is what's expected for an older amusement park. The staff was very nice and welcoming. Almost all the staff there seemed to enjoy the job. It was clean, no overfilled trash cans or empty containers and such rolling around. We had a blast. Almost zero wait time for the rides. I do wish there were just one wristband for all the rides. It's kinda silly to me that you have to pay extra for 2 rides, especially when the "scary" coaster needs to be updated. We will probably come back since it is convenient. But wouldn't travel more than 2 hrs to come...

Jason's Deli is a popular deli chain known for its specialty sandwiches, salads, and health-conscious options. It offers a variety of generously-portioned menu items including sandwiches, paninis, wraps, baked potatoes, and soups. The restaurant is praised for its reasonably priced healthy meals and has been noted as one of the best places in town to enjoy a satisfying salad bar with added options like quinoa.
I thought I was craving a salad which led me to looking at Jason's Deli online ordering page. I had picked out a salad when the list of potatoes popped up. I forgot how good their potatoes were and the pics had my mouth watering. I ordered the Mexicano Pollo Potato and hurried to go pick it up. From ordering to pickup at the drive up window, Jason's made it easy for me to get my dinner. Shout out to the friendly worker at the window, she was great!

Moldy fruit, slow service and an aggravating experience We placed an order for pick up on Uber Eats and was cancelled by Jason's without a reason given. We went anyways and placed an order in store. Ordered a pastrami sandwich but apparently they don't add items to it unless you ask because they just put meat on it. They also shorted the meat on two of our sandwiches. They advertise half a pound of roast beef on the Beefeater but barely had a quart pound. One of the chip bags was busted open and stale, making a mess in the take out bag. Oh and last but certainly not least, mold on the strawberries in the fruit cup. We will not be back.

They are very courteous and accommodating with weekly orders to our site. Great customer service from anyone I have ever interacted with! This is the best location in Amarillo.
Diane M — Google review
Great choice of healthy options I can appreciate: soups, salads, and sandwiches. Pleasant atmosphere, attentive service and I'm okay with the pricing. It's a place I always enjoy.
Julian L — Google review
Got to take out here last night. I got the wild salmon-wich which tasted fine, not amazing, I guess it was just not what I was expecting after reading the description. For some reason my steamed veggies were placed in a plastic bag inside the takeout container. There could be several explanations for this, I won’t elaborate here. Overall, it was OK, I won’t be back when I’m looking for healthy food.
Ana G — Google review
I absolutely love the soup and potatoes from this place. I recently had dental work and can't eat salads or sandwiches and was so happy to have found this place with AMAZING "TORTILLA SOUP". IT is the best in Amarillo of all the ones I tried and I tried several and kept going back to Jason's for it because once you've had the best the rest is just garbage.
Jeanne A — Google review
Jason’s Deli is one of the only places in town to get a reasonably priced healthy meal. By far the best salad bar in town! I got the salad bar the other night and I was so pleased to see that they even had quinoa added to the selection! I told management how happy I was about it and they said they will serve it as long as they can get it! (supply issues are still running rampant for restaurants) My mom got a roast beef sandwich with with au jus and it was packed with meat. The man across from us ordered a pastrami sandwich and I couldn’t believe the amount of meat that was on it! Seriously, it seemed like way too much food for one person. My husband got his favorite, which is the California club and it’s perfect every time. I love that they have gluten-free options and they are happy to substitute or change things for you. What made this visit even better than before is that they are now doing live music on Fridays. How awesome to be able to listen to local music while dining here! The staff is always friendly and this location is always super clean. The service is quick and I have no complaints whatsoever. Jason‘s is always an easy suggestion and there’s something for everyone here. Never have I said, “Let’s go to Jason‘s“ and someone has said, “Nah.”

Restaurant
Burrito Stop is a beloved Mexican restaurant in Amarillo, Texas, known for its authentic and delicious burritos. The menu offers a variety of options, from classic carne asada to flavorful vegetarian burritos. In addition to their famous burritos, the shop also serves fresh and generously stuffed breakfast tacos with a selection of toppings like cilantro, avocado, and onion. Customers praise the great tortillas and fresh ingredients used in their meals.
A cool little Tex-Mex cafe open for breakfast and lunch, Burrito Stop has been on our to-try list for a while. We were able to stop in on a Saturday for lunch. They do have different specials but I'm still not clear which days are what. I did cheese enchiladas with red sauce and added an egg. My partner did the tripas tacos plate. At $9 plus the egg add-on I thought my plate was a fair deal, and the egg was cooked perfectly. At $11.50 I thought the taco plate was overpriced, especially with the small amount of meat. I don't expect street tacos to bust at the seams but the portion was a bit light. Flavor-wise, everything was great though. They even have a spicier hot sauce you can ask for. We also got lemonade, and the total for two plates, egg add-on, and lemonade was $25. Chips and salsa were included. They also have horchata and bottled Mexican sodas.

I used to get breakfast from here frequently because I love supporting local businesses, however I continued finding bits of bacon/sausage in my burritos when I would simply as for a potato, eggs and cheese but I would just pick it out. Today, they accidentally gave me one with lots of bacon in it, so I called back and the young man at the register was very polite and said they’d fix it (he was great btw) but when I got home I STILL had bits and pieces of bacon/sausage. Will not be returning anymore, unfortunately.

I used to love coming here for their veggie burrito! But they’ve really REALLY started skimping out on how much food they give you.. I ordered two “loaded” breakfast burritos online and as you can see on the receipt I paid for all the extras.. Well they didn’t put literally anything extra I ordered and paid for in the burrito. They didn’t even give me the spinach tortilla or green salsa. And I’m a small person and the burrito was so small I finished it in 5 bites. The food tasted good but I overall do not recommend coming here if you want a fair amount of food for what you pay for.
Madison F — Google review
Burrito was good. It was big & Barbacoa wasn’t greasy. The girl checking me out was kind of robotic.. the atmosphere is more of an older crowd. It’s more of a pick up food spot. All in all I enjoyed the food.

Their Homemade tortillas , fresh ingredients, make their breakfast burritos Soul filling. Had to grab lunch while there, the tacos are a mouth watering delight. Amazing food, excellent customer service, Don't miss out on this Amarillo gem.

Their food was good. Had a burrito loved the beans and rice. The pork was a little dry, but overall it was good. Friendly staff, convenient location.
Victoria P — Google review
Best tortillas in Amarillo that I have tried. The Meaty burrito with barbacoa is simply the best I’ve ever had. And, I lived in Austin for 40+ years and eaten many burritos in Austin.
Brenda S — Google review
We tried to order 2 enchilada trays totaling 48 enchiladas and were told multiple times they had us taken care of and it would be ready between 5 and 5:15. The business was locked when we arrived so we called and the man on the phone acted like he never spoke to us and used an excuse like not receiving a confirmation, if you are too busy say so but don't string people along then play dumb like you don't know. Great way to run a local business

American restaurant
O.H.M.S. Cafe & Bar is an upscale American bistro located in the lively town of Amarillo, offering a unique dining experience with cafeteria-style lunch and table-service dinner. The spot has received rave reviews for its Elk dish, known for its exceptional tenderness and flavor. Despite being busy, the bar offers the full menu and provides great service. The restaurant is praised for its fine dining atmosphere, top-notch service, diverse menu options, delectable desserts, and signature drinks.
Ate here with my wife for my birthday to try yet another nice place in Amarillo. To start off, we had the Lamb Chops Egg Rolls and Pig Candy. For our entrees, my wife had the Beef Filet At Poivre and I tried the Seared Organic Elk Tenderloin. I have tried the Elk at at Public House and was recommended by many friends that the Elk was good. What I can say is that they are right. The Elk by far is the best Elk that I have ever tasted. The meat did not have any of the gamey taste that is normal to deer, elk and other forest animals. The sides that came with both entrees were quite delicious especially with the sauce. Overall, I think OHMS is a really good restaurant and will definitely come back to eat again. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to our table. We had Kendra and she was a great waitress.

Jade was a fantastic server. We came on an extremely busy night and she did a great job taking care of us. The elk tenderloin is a standout option and I highly recommend it. We finished off our meal with the bread pudding doughnut, which was solid. Overall a great dinner
Tanner C — Google review
I can’t say enough good things about OHMS in Amarillo! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance of upscale yet comfortable, making it a great spot for both special occasions and a relaxed evening out. The food was absolutely outstanding — beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh. The menu has a creative twist on classics while staying true to bold Texas flavors, which made the whole experience memorable. The wine and cocktail selection was also impressive, and our server made excellent pairing recommendations. We left feeling satisfied, impressed, and already planning our next visit.

This place is very impressive. Coming from Houston, a culinary hotspot, we’re always looking for places that can compete—and O.H.M.S. knocked it out of the park. We got the ahi tuna nachos as an appetizer and the portion size was perfect for 2. I ordered the surf and turf with salmon and my fiance ordered the beef filet au poivre. My steak was cooked to perfection, the salmon skin was perfectly crispy (though a tad bit overcooked for medium, I’d order medium rare) and the cheese tortellini was mouth watering. I didn’t know a simple cheese tortellini could taste so rich and delicious! We ordered a side of the wild mushrooms and we had a moment of silence for how flavorful they were lol. I finished everything on my plate—a rarity because I can’t typically eat so much— and we were truly left without words. Stuffed, we ordered the vanilla crème brûlée and again, every bite was perfect. It’s the only thing we got pictures of because we devoured everything so quickly. The ambience is perfect for a romantic dinner date—real candles, a rose, dim lighting. Our server was knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We agreed, you couldn’t find a place THIS good at THIS price point in Houston. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for delicious food, amazing service and the perfect atmoshere, this is the place! We had a large group and we tried almost everything on the menu and it was all great. But the broccoli wS definitely the star of the show, I know that sounds weird but trust me. Get the broccoli app everyone at the table will love it

O.H.M.S. is an upscale yet unpretentious spot for American dishes and some ethnic-inspired fare. On our last visit we didn't make a reservation on a Friday night and were told it'd be a two-hour wait for walk-ins. However, we were told the bar offers the full menu and then found a seat immediately. Despite being a busy weekend night we had great service at the bar. I ordered the Beef Filet au Poivre and my partner got the Merluza Fillet. We split the Fried Egg Salad as an appetizer and finished with a Crème Brulee. The egg salad really stood out to me, and my steak was cooked perfectly. Our bartender Jake recommended a merlot that paired great with the beef. Great experience overall. O.H.M.S. is a great spot for date night, special occasions, or just because. I'd encourage reservations if you need a more intimate experience, but the bar was great for us.

Fantastic food! I was with a large group and got to sample a great deal of the menu in 1 stop. I was not disappointed by a single dish.

We absolutely loved our dinner at OHMS. We were visiting Amarillo for a couple of days and staying at the Barfield downtown. I researched dinner spots and this place seemed to be the best choice. It was exactly the right choice. I called about two weeks ahead and was able to get reservations at the time we wanted. We started with cocktails. They were both good but the bourbon old fashioned was better than the gin cocktail. And the old fashioned here was better than a similar drink at the Paramount Recreation Club next door, the Speakeasy in the basement of the Barfield that you gain entry by "buying" Paramount cigarettes from an antique machine (suddenly the door behind you opens and voila you're in). Back to the main story... For appetizer we shared a special of the night, the crab cakes. They were perfectly seared and they were bursting with crabmeat. Spiced just right. And the accompanying sauce, we wanted to lick the plate clean. They were really good. For the mains, one of us had Elk and the other had Chicken. The Elk, recommended medium rare, was oh so tender and moist. The local mushrooms that accompanied were worthy of their own dish. The risotto at the bottom was also good. Unfortunately the photo doesn't show a dish as delicious as it was. We were surprised a little that the Elk wasn't more gamey tasting. It's not a bad thing, just was a surprise. The chicken was also outstanding. Crunchy and moist. The asparagus was firm but tender, and the mashed potatoes were excellent. I must say it could have used a little more gravy as all that gravy was gone a bit before the chicken was. But then i am a sauce guy. No room for dessert. Would love to visit for dinner again!

Barbecue restaurant
Delvin's Restaurant & Catering, LLC is a delightful spot in Amarillo that specializes in authentic Southern soul food and BBQ. Since its inception in 2015, this charming establishment has become a beloved local favorite, known for its hearty offerings like chopped beef sandwiches, sliced brisket sandwiches, and mouthwatering rib sandwiches. The menu also features delectable entrees such as fried chicken and catfish that are sure to satisfy any craving.
It was my first time in Amarillo, TX. and after researching for the best BBQ in town, I ended up going to Devin’s instead of Tyler’s. It was snowing and they were closing soon, but they were very helpful explaining the menu options and recommendations. I ended up trying the brisket and Ribs, with a side of Mac and cheese and the twice baked potato casserole. The plate was huge and delicious. The Brisket was tender and the rub dry ribs tasted so good. I took a German chocolate cake for later, highly recommended. I will be back next time I visit.

Not the best bbq in Amarillo, sadly. My wife and I came in yesterday evening and of course growing up I know food would be out. Before we even could look at anything the family member listed everything that was out. We mainly wanted brisket and turkey on our journey. We asked if everything will be in the next day. The member said yes and we came back the following day. We were the first ones in just by circumstance. I ordered the brisket and turkey for my wife. They said the turkey will take 15 minutes and just to wait which is fine. I waited, waited. Got up and went to ask what was going on 45 minutes in. Then a family member said it’ll be another 20 minutes at least. I said if I could double brisket instead of. They tried to convince me with chicken instead and I said no. They offered a dessert but my wife has an allergy to nuts so declined. Went in the parking lot to eat. The cabbage and green side should have just been called cabbage with a green. My fish was done sitting for 20 minutes during this. They offered others dipping sauces, did not to me. They were upset I was upset and was talking smack with me right there. My wife’s brisket was dry. Go to other locally owned businesses nearby. The quality and service is higher elsewhere.

The cabbage and greens were loaded with flavor! And the staff were so warm and inviting! Made me feel like I was coming to a friends houses, not a restaurant.

I love the food. The ox tails are exceptional. The fried ribs are good. The rib batter is super crispy. The meat on the rib has a bit of a chew. The sides are great. You should give this place a try.

This place is off the hook. Amazing people. Amazing food and great culture. Small but really good family oriented place. While we are having our meals about 4-5 times they came to us and ask if we need anything or how is everything. Great job team. Hands down for the great job. Good quality food. Plenty of options for mountain drinks. , Ice teas.
