This place was a dump before it burnt down!
My family and I arrived at Lake Okanagan Resort (CozyStay) on Aug 9, 2023. We had expected to stay for 2 nights until Friday, Aug 11, but left extremely disappointed, shortly after arriving!
What we booked through Expedia was NOTHING AT ALL like what we actually experienced with our own eyes. The pictures on the website were deceiving and must have been taken when this resort was in its prime. When we arrived, it was run-down, in dire need of repairs, and seems to be mis-managed by more than one corp entity.
Upon arrival, we were extremely disappointed with the disrepair of the facilities and amenities. We left in tears. The room itself was a basic standard 2 queen bed hotel room, However, an ordinary hotel room is a dime a dozen. We booked CozyStay Okanagan Resort for the WHOLE experience of ALL the amenities that were advertised with it. The advertising on Expedia, and all the vacation websites promoting Lake Okanagan Resort were/are DECEPTIVE. Firstly, the outside of the buildings and driveway into the complex were in serious need of maintenance and repairs (peeling paint, warped doors, deteriorating plaster & wood, and huge potholes).
The golf course was dry and unmanicured. Not at all like the pictures on the website!
Outside our building/suite, the pond in the back was derelict; filled with rocks and algae & the view of the lake was blocked by overgrown trees and unkept lawns.
Open drapes in windows adjacent to our complex exposed dirty rooms used for storing junk and old furniture. Broken outdoor furniture was strewn on the grounds.
A 'boil water' notice was taped to the building.
The main (lap) pool was closed and full of algae (dark green color) with an orange pylon blocking the path to it, and an orange construction fence around it.
The outdoor hot tub was closed and unusable.
The only pool available was a small circular children's pool about the size of a large hot tub with no ability to swim laps.
The Fitness Center was dirty & missing all the free weights, apart from 1 set of 50 pound weights.
The men's sauna had cigarette butts in it and smelled bad.
The receptionist on duty for the Lake Okanagan Resort was a university student running the office for the summer. She explained that approximately 5 different corp enterprises owned different parts of the Resort; some with Time Shares, and some like CozyStay/hotel rentals, etc.. She did not know anything about CozyStay Okanagan Resort and said she had to charge us $25 for a key pass to access the fitness center, sauna, & pool. We did not see a key pass card in the room, as we were told.
There was no restaurant/dining room or no vending machines. The only available food was a mexican food truck parked adjacent to the marina. It was a very steep down/uphill walk to get to the marina & beach. The closest food amenities were a 20-minute drive on a torturous single-lane, poorly maintained road back into Kelowna.
It was all too much for an enjoyable experience, so we did not stay!!!!We left, heart-broken. We did not use the room and checked into a different hotel in Kelowna on August 9th.
This complex has (had) so much potential but did not match the pristine pictures as advertised on the website. It needs a LOT of maintenance to bring it back to even faintly resembling the pictures posted on the website. Once again, we were so heart broken, as we were really looking forward to it. We did not receive any compensation or apology. Conveniently, the facility was over-taken by wildfire the next year.
