Entrance is set on a busy street. At the time of my visit in January 2025, there was no tickets required, or any additional fee once you enter the grounds. Try to do some research before arriving, or you will miss out on a lot. Surrounding the temple, there are several food streets that are very unique to visit. If you're a vegetarian, you will struggle. During the busy season, be patient as there will be a lot of people here. Couple of interesting coffee shops around if you're able to find it. Allow about 3 hours for your visit, if not longer.
ancient temple over thousand years. built on Indian temple that was there previously. one of the few temples with 5 Buddhas on their main hall. popular temple with 2 old pagodas on east and west of temple. can be quite crowded.

Kaiyuan Temple (开元寺), the largest Buddhist temple complex in Fujian Province, built in 686 AD in Tang Dynasty is about 1,400 years old. Blending diverse cultures and architectural styles, it's a vital witness to Quanzhou's status as the "Emporium of the World in Song-Yuan China". Do check out the huge, centuries old banyan trees flanking the courtyard. The East and West Stone Pagodas within the temple grounds, respectively Zhenguo 镇国塔and Renshou仁寿, are the tallest pair of stone towers in China. Zhenguo pagoda in particular, inspired the filming location of the mega hit game Black Myth: Wukong.

This is a special buddhist temple embodying a family shrine in QuanZhou, Fujian province. One will be better off taking a 1-day trip to QuanZhou via a local travel agent, who will bundle places of interest nearby, including a decent lunch.
The Kaiyuan Temple (开元寺) is a renowned Buddhist temple located in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China. It is one of the oldest and most significant Buddhist temples in the region, with a rich history dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD). The temple is also famous for being one of the largest and most well-preserved Buddhist complexes in China. There are Hindu caving and pillars in the temple architecture. The Temple is home to an intriguing historical artifact—a Song Dynasty ship, which is preserved on the temple premises. This ship is not only a remarkable find in itself but also a significant representation of the maritime history of Quanzhou during the Song Dynasty.

Beautiful and tranquil mountain Temple. Recommend hiking to the top and seeing Sky Mountain Lake.
The hike is 10/10 without my kj sister attempting to give up when we’re so close to the peak smh Cost: 35-70 RMB depending on the age of the person (Adult rates start at 18 instead the usual age 12 or below 4 ft system)
This scenic mountain has various stone structures and few taoism temples; and each has its historical tales. Nice greenery and relaxing place. One could be disappointed if expect more than these.
It's good for hiking, the food is yummy
Wonderful quiet place
(Translated by Google) If you want to explore the entire Qingyuan Mountain, please prepare your physical strength. Take a taxi to the top of the mountain in the morning and walk all the way down. For me, it is still very tight in terms of leg strength, but it is all worth it. It is very beautiful. There are many tea-making areas. If you want to rest, it is no problem to explore this place all day. (Original) 想探索整個清源山請備好體力 清晨打車到山頂 一路走下來 對我而言 腳力上還是很吃緊 不過這一切都很值得 很美 泡茶區很多 想歇腳 整天行程都在這個地方探索是沒問題的

Qingjing Mosque, also known as the Ashab Mosque, is a historical gem located in Quanzhou. Built during the Song Dynasty, it is one of the oldest mosques in China, showcasing stunning Islamic architecture influenced by Middle Eastern styles. The stonework and intricate carvings are fascinating, reflecting the ancient maritime connections of the Silk Road. Though the mosque no longer functions as an active place of worship, it serves as a museum and cultural site. The tranquil atmosphere and historical artifacts make it a great spot for those interested in history, religion, or architecture. The mosque is well-maintained, with informative displays that detail its history and significance. It's a peaceful retreat in the bustling city, and its location near other cultural sites makes it convenient for a day of exploration. Definitely worth a visit!

Really great and informative museum! Ticket price is free, and the tour guide we had from the museum was very knowledgeable and spoke both Chinese and English very well. Museum has many artifacts and images and diagrams, and really taught me a lot about Quanzhou and its significance. However, I do think some benches along the exhibits would have been nice.

Centuries-old stone bridge restored many times, with piers, pagodas & statues of lions.

Very interesting setting on the river estuary. Quite a faithful restoration of the bridge which has been repaired, replaced, maintained, remodeled over history. Well translated English interpretive signs. Also interesting to see the fishermen constructing fish trap ponds on the mudflats. Plenty of food vendors as well
The Luoyang Bridge, also known as the Old Bridge, is an ancient bridge located in Fujian Province, China. It is one of the most famous historical landmarks and a remarkable example of ancient Chinese engineering. The Luoyang Bridge is noted for being one of the earliest stone arch bridges in China and a significant architectural achievement for its time. This in a one of longest stone bridges in ancient China
Luoyang Bridge (洛阳桥), the oldest of the 4 our ancient bridges in China, constructed between 1053-1059 during the Northern Song Dynasty. Originally named as Wan'an Bridge 万安桥 ,it served as a vital coastal transport link for Quanzhou, the key port city on the Maritime Silk Road. At the other end of the 1.2km bridge stands a huge statue of CaiXiang, chief the Quanzhou Prefecture who oversaw construction of this architectural marvel, as if still guarding it. Interesting and definitely a must-go for history and architectural buffs.
Ok honest review here from Singaporean. Its Lame. The bridge is not so long, maybe 1-2km long, and it is indeed made of ancient techniques / stone. The only interesting thing about this bridge is the pillars holding the bridge is unique and pointed like ships, and barnacles grow on them to act as some kind of protection. Besides having a look at ancient 1000 year old bridge, its really quite a waste of time. The didi taxi drop off point is not right at the spot. You have to walk about 500m to the bridge only to be underwhelmed much. Do not come here, just google and see pictures.
Luoyang Bridge ( originally called "Wan'an Bridge") was built between 1053 and 1059 during Northern Song Dinasty is a beautiful example of advanced technologies used in ancient times, like transporting heavy stone slate using buoyancy forces and waves, bioengineering using oysters to consolidate foundation, raft shaped foundation for bridge construction. This unique bridge is enjoyable to walk and admire surrounding views
Historic place of interest, great walk around. Really amazing low tide view :)
Amazing piece of ancient technology. A complete stone base world first bay crossing bridge
One of the oldest bridge foundation in China. Very interesting stone work and engineering at its best.
