Guadalajara

Guadalajara is a city in western Mexico. It’s known for tequila and mariachi music, both born in Jalisco, the state of which Guadalajara is the capital. Guadalajara’s historic center is dotted with colonial plazas and landmarks such as the neoclassical Teatro Degollado and a cathedral with twin gold spires. The Palacio del Gobierno houses famous murals by painter José Clemente Orozco.

I highly recommend anyone coming to Guadalajara to make a visit to this museum. Tuesdays are free. The murals in the chapel are breathtaking and should not be missed. As well, there are several exhibition rooms that showcase a variety of art and genres.
A mixed bag. Tickets are affordable and available, there is hardly a line to enter the place. The interior houses a few photo galleries, with rotating expositions, and not much else. The central building with it's high vaulted ceilings and frescoes is the main attraction. It is peaceful though and at times you will find yourself alone in this huge complex.
Return visit a decade plus later and the Orozco murals still impress. Beautiful location and peaceful hideaway from the bustling crowds. Bonus: Tuesday entry was free so you can donate more to charity
Really dont like rating so low but besides the history of the building there are few unimpressive exhibits. Orozco murals are good, if cost was lower perhaps 2 stars. Didn't understand massive historical building, nice courtyards, yet so little to see for 110 pesos. Was a large group of important people back of building closed off didnt help the experience.
A must visit place in Guadalajara. With it's long history as an hospice and culture space this colonial jem helds different contemporary art exhibitions and one of the mos extraordinary murales in México. You could easily spend 2 or 3 hours walking around the different galleries. A visit to the museum store is also recommended.
Worth visiting. They even allow you to lie down on the chair and watch the magnificent drawings. Most freely enjoyable museum i have ever been
This is one of my favorite places in Guadalajara !!! The murals of Jose Clemente Orozco are extremely impactful… the place is a build of art !!!
At the Hospicio Cabañas in Guadalajara, which is very beautiful, and of course the murals are the highlight of the place. In addition, there is a person who narrates in detail the history and meaning of the murals.

This grand cathedral housing the relics of St. Innocent was built during the 16th & 17th centuries.

Beautiful breathtaking church! I visit often and every time I am always in awe of its beauty. The mass is beautiful and the acoustics of the church make the mass service more amazing.
An amalgamation of architectural styles with much history relative to most buildings in the Americas. The icons in the cathedral are sometimes more bloody in depiction than other churches I have visited. Greater emphasis on Mary in churches and cathedrals here, congruent with the attempt to overlay pagan deities with saints and Holy Mothers. There is another separate church attached. This part of the city is very walkable and Guadalajara’s devotion to the arts is admirable
Catedral Basílica de la Asunción de María Santísima remains central to Guadalajara where it has stood since the 17th century. Still architecturally stunning despite fires, age and earthquakes the capitol's center of worship is a must-see from the detailed pulpit to crypts below. Home to the relics of St. Innocent, expect large crowds during times of worship.
It's a large and imposing building that I wouldn't exactly call beautiful. The architecture seems eclectic, and the towers seem out of place withe rest of the building there are quite a few beggars and questionable characters hanging out in front of the church. Other than that, a nice edifice, just not the nicest.
Went on a Saturday morning. Inside amazing architecture and prolific art. Took pictures with local photographer vendor outside to catch professional photographs. He knew where to stand and get the best angles.
A beautiful place to visit in the middle of guadalajara. The Basilica is mesmerizing and the vibe of the place is calming and very chill must visit
Must see while visiting Guadalajara. Nice square beautiful church and lots of carriage rides around also tour buses leave from the square.
This is a symbol of Guadalajara, so if you want to take photos, it's best to come early in the morning📷

Great zoo! So much to see. Great for families!!! Lots of different animals from all over the world…looks like all animals are well taken care of..parking was easy 100 pesos, and we got the premier ticket which was totally worth it…you can spend days here, nice when we went wasn’t too busy. Loved the safari drive, you are right next to the animals! Great experience!!!
This place is huge. Nicely kept. It has a nice aquarium, a sky lift, and a vet center. Lions. Tiger. Elephants. Penguins. Hippos. Rhinos. And the restrooms are clean.🙂 My only negative is that the Raspado stands were closed. 😓
One of the best zoo’s I have visited so far, after USA, Canada and India. So many variety of animals and birds. Definitely a must see when you are in Guadalajara.
It was a very enjoyable experience. Definitely need to have great walking shoes and cash since the majority of the vendors if not all only take cash. Lots of activities for the littles.
I Loved it. Highly recommend. Very educational. Prices are very affordable. The zoo is very complete, it has nimal interactions, an aquarium, and so much more!!!
Best zoo ever! It has a safari experience, a lifting chair and train ride that takes you around the zoo. I loved that it's very clean and has beautiful scenery everywhere you look. If you miss the hours to feed the bigger animals, you can go to the deers section and feed those instead. They are not encaptured and roaming wildly free. This zoo also has a farm area, where you can see, feed, brush, and pet horses and goats. It is a very big zoo, so plan on spending the whole day there, especially if you are walking through it all. I enjoyed that we went on a weekday avoiding the busy crowds. I was very impressed and my child loved it too! We can't wait to go back!
Zoo was big and pretty the ride that takes you above the animals was really cool and so was the safari ride! If you love animals you should really check it out
Beautiful place, many different animals, the activities are very cool. The only bad thing it's that the food is expensive

Very beautiful, amazing theatre. Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco had a wonderful concert. Really unforgettable experience for us.
The teatro Degollado is a mid-19 century jewel built in 1856-1866. It has gone through many renovation throughout the century. It was originally called teatro Alarcón, in honor of the classical playwright Juan Ruiz de Alarcón. After the Reform wars(1857-1861) the governor Pedro Ogazon changed the name to Santos Degollado, former governor and general who died in battle in 1861. Most of the renovations of the theater were done to improve the interior design and reinforce the roof of the building. Between 1953-1959 artist Roberto Montenegro designed and crafted the mosaic of Apollo and the Nine Muses on the theaters pediment. 16 Corinthian columns support the pediment. The theater is now home of the Jalisco Philharmonic and the place of high artistic performances. Book your private tours of Guadalajara with me! And let’s explore Guadalajara together! I didn’t went in, but the location is beautiful and that building is breathtaking from the outside! That’s definitely somewhere/an area I’d like to spend more time in. It felt very secure, and it’s located in the middle of the city.
Lovely to watch mariachi play with Jalisco Symphany Orchestra. Looked full on Saturday night. Such a beautiful old theater. Staff was helpful & attentive.
This place is well worth the price of admission and more, will definitely be coming more often. The center of the bowl seems to have the best views of the entire orchestra except maybe the front floor seats.
If you like music concert and appreciate them, it is a beautiful place to enjoy, like the Opera Garnier in Paris. Very affordable but full of good ratings and quality music as well.
Stunning! We were able to go inside on a Tuesday when there wasn’t a show going on. It was magical to sit inside and take in the beauty of the space. We could also hear someone practicing for opera backstage. Wow
Amazing experience loved every minute of it brought tears to my eyes

Free to enter. A very beautiful gothic style church. It feels like you are entering a majestic and divine forest. Wonderful place to pray and connect with God for believers. It wasn’t very busy when we went as well so it was incredibly serene.
Beautiful beautiful place! The architecture is amazing and the church is just breathtaking! I definitely recommend just coming and sitting down and enjoying the amazing calm vibes.
Beautiful church, open and quite. I always think.church should be open to every one, and this is. Offer great arts and historical construction as well. Many Mexicanas are getting married every weekends as well, and local markets are being held at night. Valuable place for Guadalajara. I personally liked it better than the one in Firenze in terms of the functionality as.a church.
Such a beautiful church. Do yourself a favor and assure you come here. If you can talk your way into the catacombs downstairs too, it will make an experience you won't soon forget. If you can't, I've added lots of photos. There is a small show outside when the hours turn. Make time to peruse the surrounding areas. It is good manners to assure you leave a donation before you depart.
Another example of amazing architecture. Take some time to visit and maybe sit inside for a bit to experience the peaceful vibes.
Beautiful church. Photos speak for themselves. Definitely a must see if in the area.
A truly incredible church inside and out. A place worth of an epic battle between Batman & the Joker.
This church is very beautiful and architecture is stunning, from outside its incredible and going inside it just mesmerizing. Each hour there are figurines coming out from one of the towers and doing its own thing, so fun to watch and notice it. Every detail is just incredibly stunning

Bucolic city park with walking paths, picnic areas, dramatic landscaping & a Japanese garden.
Slide 1 of 8
The park itself is nice, but the real reason to visit is the Japanese Gardens. Idyllic, and beautifully maintained. Great destination for a short run or to stretch your legs.
What a wonderful experience!! We arrive around 4 pm only to ride a horse! And it was like a dream 😻 The park is really big and beautiful 💚 FREE ENTRANCE!
Wonderful to see the city support such an extensive park. It’s open to the public and features several gardens (arboretum, Japanese, desert, eucalyptus, pond). Several places to picnic, exercise, or relax.
This is a really beautiful park in the middle of the city and in the middle of a nice and safe neighborhood. I got there in public transportation, is not that difficult to get there and is definitely worth it. Is not that big but you can definitely spend a nice afternoon in this place full of squirrels!!! And the entrance is free :)
Very impressed, did not expect the scenery. Be prepared to walk, there are many squirrels so be careful and cautious. The park is free, paid parking and also paid tours available.
Free to enter - pay a fee if you park your vehicle here. The park is so lovely and peaceful. We got there early on a Sunday morning and the vibes were great. Everyone seems to be in a relaxed and kind mood. The animals here are accustomed to people, the squirrels are used to being fed because they run right up to people. It is a nice break from the noisy and chaotic city. I would recommend checking this park out.
One of the best parks I have ever been too. The layout and design of the complex routes that you can take is amazing for running an/or meditating and just enjoying your time there. The park has so many places to explore and find and you can find people dancing, practicing kickboxing, doing yoga, meditating etc... great place overall.
Precious place. This is a green lung in the middle of Guadalajara city. Very well maintained and safe. The Japanese garden is beautiful and there is plenty to see here. If you are looking for a place to spend the day walking and admiring nature, THIS IS THE WAY.
