Really enjoyed our walks! Went up one of the rock faces which was very cool with great views! Also went around both sides of the valley of the rocks! Really beautiful views and my dog loved it too! The Valley of the Rocks is absolutely breathtaking!
The dramatic rock formations are unlike anything
I've ever seen - it feels like you're on another planet. The views of the coastline are stunning, and there are plenty of trails to explore. It's a bit of a climb, but totally worth it for the panoramic vistas.
The wild goats add a unique charm to the landscape. Just be careful near the edges, as it can get quite windy. If you're in North Devon, this is a must-visit for anyone who loves natural beauty and dramatic scenery!

What more can you say. Whether you drive there or walk from the old iron age hillfort the views are breathtaking here. The toilets are free as well which is a bonus. Had a walk upto the sisters on the cliff by the roundabout which was quite strenuous. Lots of different walks going in all different directions. Would definitely recommend wearing good walking shoes though as very stoney. Entertaining to see the feral goats there as well. Just a short walk down past the cliffs though is the Abbey which was worth a visit as well. Recommend if you're in the area

There’s pay and display parking near by with toilets. You can either go on the paved path or go further up on the rocks.
The path is not wide and drops steep towards the ocean but there’s plenty of room to pass other people. Be sure to look up while on the path, you might be walking right past or under a goat. When you first spot them they appear to be everywhere.
You do t need climbing skills to go off the path and up the rocks but you do need to be in good shape and careful where you step.

Exmoor is easily one of the most enjoyable and pretty of the national parks. Criss-crossed (but not too intensely) by well-maintained, quiet roads, walks, wild ponies, small forests (but not big enough to always interrupt the view), warmer and drier than so many of the other, boggier parks. As national parks go, it’s a little slice of bliss, and one of the areas I’d most like to move to in England. It’s as if the sun always seem to shine here. You’ll see wild ponies roaming around, along with sheep and cows in the fields, which makes it feel properly untouched and peaceful. There are little roads you can drive up, park, and then head out walking or cycling through stunning scenery. Whether you're after big open views or quiet trails, it’s just amazing. Beautiful and rugged National Park, largely quieter than other parks, with great roads, amazing views, and sweeping vistas. Wonderful places to swim, both fresh and sea water. Incredible gorges around northern parts, and ancient bridges around others. Tarr Steps is particularly beautiful and historic. Pretty villages scattered throughout, and Dulverton, Exford, Porlock, Lynton and Lynmouth are some of my favourites. Whilst there look out for a traditional Devon cream tea. The Moors themselves can be bleak, so ensure if you walk on them you take a map and compass, and know how to use them!

Lovely long beach path that goes from just before Butlin’s all the way past the bottom of the high street, through the harbour and on towards the park. Brilliant for the wheelchairs too as it’s a flat wide path lots of benches to sit and enjoy the marvellous views. The only issue is the public toilets. They are only located at either side of the town, near the harbour or near Billy Butlins. Non in the main town centre beach area and car park which is very disappointing.

Brilliant sand and stone beach with shops and shacks located all along the beach. All the classic beach foods within stone throw distance. Nice ramp disabled entrance in the centre of the beach path. Ample car park with a good cafe. Camera controlled with easy pay card tap machines. Dogs on lead in car park but as soon as on beach or dunes they can roam free for miles. There are no council public toilets and I wouldn't say it was disabled easy. In all great place for dogs, fresh sea air and walking.

What a great Beach! The sun was out and the surf was up….kind of, we were here for August bank holiday Monday so got here at around 10am ….and at 10.30am they were heading up the road with the car park full/closed signs, so get here early.
There is a great little beach hut cafe selling pasties and rolls , coffee etc also a little shop selling beach tat. There is also a restaurant there for the more refined palate.
There is a surf shop and surf school for all your surfing needs. The beach itself was clean and massive! Check the tide times…at low tide it’s quite a walk to get to the sea. I took the kids body boarding which they loved…the waves were big enough without being scary and we never ventured over waist depth.
It’s dog friendly so plenty of ankle biters yapping and changing around but not too much of a nuisance.
We took our own gear but you can hire everything there if you want to, including windbreaks, chairs, even beach tents…they do a complete beach camp set up for £20 there’s even huts available for £30.
All in all a fab day was had by all, topped off by having fish and chips at squires in nearby Braunton.

Beautiful place! This is the pictures of the dunes and you can walk for hours. Highly recommended but is a 2.5 mile walk to the beach from here. There is parking further up off the main road that takes you directly to the beach.
The parking for the dunes was £2.50 which is fair and the sights are worth it. Just try to memorise way back

The beach is absolutely beautiful – wide, sandy, and stretches on for miles.
It’s the perfect place for a long walk, and our dog had the best time running free and splashing in the sea.

The views are stunning and there’s plenty of space, even on a busy day.

A word of warning the back roads are very tight. This is a stone and large pebble beach at the mouth of the river heddon. There is plenty of parking and it's just past the Hunter's Inn. Then it's about a 20-25min hike through a wooded area alongside the flowing river. Near the end you'll cross over a bridge to the other side and along to the beach. The river flows into the pebbles and sort of disappears and then reappears as several streams running down to the sea.

This was a really lovely walk down to the beach. I carried my baby in her sling rather than taking the buggy, but the path would have been fine I think, apart from at the end to get onto the beach or up to the better viewpoint.
Parking free with NT membership. The road I came in on was very narrow and pretty steep, but headed out a different route towards Barnstaple and it was much more friendly!

Lovely little beach with some great exploring to be done when the tide’s out! Combe Martin has some lovely cafes and a great ice cream shop, too.
Parking (with RingGo) is ample and right next to the beach.
It’s a very stoney beach so take sandles/beach shoes.
You’re also spoilt for cafes and a great fish and chip shop locally, too.
Two nice pubs on site and great views. Perfect little quiet beach if that’s your sort of thing!

Campsite facilities couldve been attended to more regularly, they were functional but weren't very clean with no soap.
Staff were always happy and friendly. We brought our own paddle boards and were allowed to free roam on the lake (within reason).
Plenty of biking and hiking trails to keep you active and occupied, with some lovely views to boot!
Overall a great camping experience with family and friends of all ages.

The village surrounding the castle is beautiful, and lovely to walk through on the way to the castle including the secret garden ran by the castle gardener. Just be aware there are some rather steep slopes to walk up. There are a few cafes that do cream tea outside the castle and also museums and shops. Once actually in the castle grounds there are also lots of slopes to walk up and down to access different areas. There is lots of information about the castle and how it came to be what it is today and also some original features. The views from the castle are wonderful and can see for miles. There is parking for the castle and also other parking nearby if needed. There is a watermill that is still operating which they use to make flour, you can also buy this in the shop as well as other local produce.

It’s a historic water-powered funicular that’s been running since the late 1800s, using nothing but gravity and water to move up and down the steep cliff. Great beach, very quiet and so beautiful, would recommend parking at NT Bossington and walking down,it's a short walk on good paths. The beach is purely pebbles of every size which could be hard going if you're not fully mobile or have a pushchair etc. There is a path that runs for most of the way behind the beach which is easier going and means you can hop onto the beach wherever you fancy instead of walking on the pebbles all the time. So much to see and find here, we found an octopus (sadly not alive) and loads of cuttlefish bone and obviously you have the lime kiln and pill boxes.
A word of warning please don't be tempted to go in the water and this probably applies to dogs off lead too. The current is very powerful and the pebbles very loose underfoot on dry land so underwater would be extremely risky. Our pooch is very much used to swimming in this kind of scenario and always on a long lead, please don't be tempted just enjoy the beauty of what is around you.

Beautiful location, very quiet as only accessible on foot. The beach has lots of 'shelves' and is very pebbly - with big pebbles at that. This isn't a complaint as it's nature, but not so suitable for families wanting a dip in the sea. Walk along the beach and you'll see a pool formed by the River Horner which then makes its way underneath the pebbles. Check out the concrete pill boxes left behind from the war. There's a couple, both of which you can go in.

A beautiful, long stretch of sandy beach that's perfect for a coastal walk or relaxing day out. It was busy around the Sandy Bar car park, but if you're willing to walk just a few minutes further along the beach, it becomes much quieter and more peaceful. The sea was fairly rough during the late evening when we visited, so probably better for experienced swimmers or surfers at that time. Overall, a lovely spot with plenty of space once you move away from the main access points.

We recently attended the wedding of our Son and his fiancée at The Tunnels and had the most incredible experience from start to finish.
Our family stayed in the Woodlands 9-bedroom accommodation, which was perfect for such a special occasion. The property was immaculate on arrival – spotless throughout – and felt both luxurious and homely. The kitchen was particularly impressive, equipped with a large oven, dishwasher, and two fridge freezers, making it ideal for group catering. The shared balcony and spacious patio were lovely spaces to gather and enjoy time together.
The wedding venue itself is simply stunning, set over three floors and overlooking a private beach that gave the whole day a magical, exclusive feel. The layout was thoughtfully designed, making the celebrations flow seamlessly. The food was absolutely amazing – plentiful, beautifully presented, and with a great selection to suit all tastes.
What really stood out were the venue hosts. They were friendly, helpful, and exceptionally well-organised, ensuring that everything ran smoothly so we could relax and enjoy the day.
Beyond the wedding, we were pleasantly surprised by how much there was to explore nearby. Ilfracombe harbour is charming, with lots of independent shops, bars, and restaurants, while the surrounding area offers plenty of beautiful beaches within walking distance or a short drive.
Overall, The Tunnels is a breathtaking venue in a perfect location, with outstanding accommodation and staff who go above and beyond. A truly unforgettable experience – highly recommended

It was a rainy day but the rained stopped for the ceremony. There are lots of stairs and there are not many seats at the downstairs bar but where the food is eaten, there are plenty of tables and chairs.

Recently got married here. It is so obvious that it is the most beautiful wedding location. But I would also like to praise how amazing the staff were to our every need, ensuring that the wedding ran smoothly. Second time visiting here. Came here in early July. There's a small entrance fee of £3.75 but it's pretty quiet when we went and it's quite unusual with the tidal pool so we didn't mind paying the fee. Luckily the ladies beach was open (normally weddings are there) and it looked beautiful with the plants and aqua blue waters. The tidal pool is fun to walk around if you have good balance. The water was cold but a few people tried to swim in it. Relaxing cove with interesting aspects about it. Cafe, toilets, deck chair hire and museum included which makes the visit more comfortable. Highly recommended

We recently got married here and had a small elopement plus package. It was absolutely outstanding. The views were amazing as you can see. The house is so beautifully designed and the perfect standard to have a wedding party stay in. Amazing place, great facilities, toilets and a small coffee shop, wedding venue so part of the beach might be closed to public, but it doesn't affect anyone. The Tunnels. Wow. What a venue! I can’t say that we have been to any other wedding venue with your own private beach!
The location alone is enough to make you interested in The Tunnels but when you get to look around the venue it’s all beautiful. The ceremony space outdoors is great, amazing views to the side and backed with cliffs made it a great space for photography.
We love the multiple levels at this venue. It really allows you to enjoy the views. The reception room for meals and the evening entertainment has huge panoramic windows which, when you have a location like this, is exactly what you want.
The sunset on the evening we were there was gorgeous. Being able to watch it from such a great view while chatting around a fire pit has to be one of the top ways to end your wedding day right?!
We are both huge fans of Devon and love being by the coast. If this sounds like you then you should definitely look at The Tunnels for your venue. The location, venue and staff are all amazing. You won’t be disappointed.

This beach is fossil central and we found a lovely specimen that is now decorating our bathroom. This does mean that it’s fairly busy with fossil hunters. It’s mostly rock although we did find a small flat sand/mud area to chuck a picnic blanket down. Loads of rock pools as well to look for creatures and the kids loved exploring the rocks. What a place to visit. I took a peaceful walk to the beach in the evening to contemplate and found a number of fossils (remember the fossil code and watch out for cliff falls).
I also really enjoyed the views and sounds of the sea as the sun started to set.
The car park i hear used to be an issue but that seems to have changed now with a very professional set up and clear signage.
There is a grassy overlook with picnic tables as well as coastal walks.
I don't know - this visit found the kid in me a bit whilst I also found it soothing from a wellbeing perspective.
There are toilets (not the cleanest) and watch out for potholes on the track down to the car park!

Plenty of car parking space, your number plate is scanned when you enter, then when you leave you put in your number plate and it gives you your fee you need to pay on exit. Two streams of water perfect for toddlers to splash about. Two toilets within a few mins walk, plus a few shops selling beach toys and RNLI life guards during holiday season. Really lovely little beach and nicer than visiting all of the busier bigger beaches. There is a small takeaway cafe down there with sandwiches and other things. The rock formations down here and very picturesque and fun to walk and climb around. Definitely worth a visit. Lovely secluded beach, well protected from the wind. There are two ways to reach this beach. From Kiln car park you have a choice of the coast path, or a short walk into town, and taking the path up through the field. Personally, we found the field path was easier than the coast path. The coast path is a mixture of ups and downs and quite strenuous...just when you think you've reached the top, another hill appears. Whereas the field path is one continuous climb up (or down when you're returning) and you seem to get it over and done with quicker and with less effort. From Kiln car park, either follow the signs for the coast path to the Hangman. Or if you want to try the field path, again from Kiln car park make your way back onto Borough Road, up Rosie Bridge Lane, hang a right by the Forge (careful not to miss it, it's a small narrow path) and this eventually leads to West Challacombe Lane where you will soon see a footpath sign up into the field signposted to the Hangman. Eventually you will be back on the same coast path where you will join it for a while before branching left and down to the beach. Getting onto the beach is definitely NOT easy. You will need good walking boots, a bit of a head for heights and a good sense of balance. There is a rope to help you down. Some people abseil up/down the rocks, but we found it slightly easier crabbing down the loose shingle, but the shingle option is wet in places and you will ideally need waterproof walking boots. You do need to be quite fit to attempt this trek, but it's worth it for most likely having the whole beach to yourself. There is a good deal of sand and several large boulders offering secluded sunbathing spots.

Lovely little naturist beach just off the southwest coast path 1/2 a mile north of Combe Martin. The access down to the beach is not easy with the last section via a rope for safety after a landslide. The beach is mostly coarse shale sand with rocky outcrops. At low tide there are exposed sandy areas and easy access for a little dip. High cliffs surround the whole beach and the view over the coastline towards Watermouth are stunning.

Great place for walks. When the tide is out, you can walk to Watchet. Cliffs are unstable, so take care. Lots of fossils to be found. Alternatively, take a stroll along the seafront. Just had a fabulous week at Putsborough Sands caravan park. Can’t fault this location at all, so handy to be able to pop down to the beach whenever you want and not have to take the car. Yes the showers are on the farm campsite but it’s just a 10 minute walk away. Site is small and quiet, perfect for relaxing. Only recommendation would be a card/sticker that you could put in the car so you didn’t have to tell the gatehouse each time you drive in that you are staying in the campsite.

Great little caravan site! Quiet with stunning views. Ball games, bikes, scooters etc. Are not allowed, as this keeps things calm and quiet, but as the beach is right next to you this isn't a problem. Coastle path for a lovely walk to baggy point/croyde. Dogs are also allowed. We have two children and they just spend the whole time playing with the other kids on the site, they love it. As it's so small and safe you're not worried, and most people are happy to keep an eye on each other's children.
There is a toilet block on site and showers and laundry facilities up at the farm.
So nice to be able to sit up away from the masses when it's busy, but still have the view. And just pop down to the beach as and when without having to take your kitchen sink with you.

A beautiful, small and secluded little beach in the small north Devon village of Lee. Much smaller, and more intimate for it, than the larger beaches of Ilfracombe and Woolacombe nearby, but definitely worth a visit. The tide was coming in slowly as the sun was setting. Plenty of people still out and about going for a walk with their dogs.
It’s a very clean and tidy beach. Easily accessible and plenty of parking available along the road.

Very nice place to visit with or without a furry friend. Great views out to sea or across the estuary to Burton Burrows. There is a lovely cafe near to the main car park. Look out for the golf balls while walking. While walking you can walk from Westward Ho! all the way to Northam and Appledore, on land or on the beach when the tide is out.

Lovely beach, easy to park and no cost in the winter. If you head for the far end of the beach when the tide is out it's lovely and quiet. Not good for those with restricted mobility as most ways onto the beach involve crossing the pebble ridge, but fine if you just want the burrows. Horses and sheep roam free, loads of picnic benches and places to sit.

Dog friendly beach, good cafe with a great selection served by wonderful, friendly staff. The only issue is the cost of parking. It is one fee, £8, however long you stay. Loved it. So wonderful to see the entire area looked after so well. Nature and modernisation go hand in hand, golfing with sheep and horses! The sea and the views were magnificent. Do bring a waterproof jacket that keeps the blustery wind out and water to wash your feet if you're planning to head to the beach for a stroll.
