We stayed in Rm 6 which was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom had a lovely shower and a free -standing bath. In-laws stayed in "Peregrine" which has a great balcony and views down the huge garden, which is full of mature trees will be stunning with loads of places to sit and relax. It leads down towards the beach and has fantastic access to the coastal path. Food is honest, good quality pub grub- well cooked and loads of it. Breakfast was fab too. Good selection of beers and ciders. The new management team clearly know what they are doing despite having only been there for a short time. The whole team were delightful and attentive. Really could not fault any aspect of our stay and will definitely return.

You can have a nice walk down to Heddon Valley beach and come back and enjoy a cosy meal or even just a drink. The food was good although the sticky toffee pudding was not great, and was hard around the edges where had been microwaved. The staff were nice however our desert was sort of plonked on the table due to it getting busy. Overall a nice meal and we even enjoyed a game of cards.

Stayed with the wife for two nights B&B in the basic Double room no 2. We are walking the coastal path and the Hunters Inn is half way between Lynton and Combe Martin and right on the path. The room was great, more then we expected. The staff were all lovely and really friendly, nothing was to much trouble for them, honey for my coffee or a blanket for my wife or milk for our room they were all great . And then there was the food. The food was so good and when I say good I mean really good. We ate both nights from the specials board and it wast brilliant. The breakfast was great to with loads to chose from and we also had a cream tea and a lovely chat with a nice guy who turned out to be the owner. The beer garden is also a must vist. Well done Hunters Inn you are doing everything right in our opinion. Keep up the good work.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. The hosts, Deb and Mark Walton, and the staff were welcoming, attentive and friendly. The rooms were warm and comfortable and the breakfast and evening meals very nice with a good selection on the menu. We had our dog with us and she also enjoyed the many walks she had in the area. It was also good that there were no fireworks in the valley on bonfire night as its very secluded so no frightened pooches. It can be a little difficult to get to as one of the main routes in is closed but as long as you follow the diversion signs, you're fine. Very nice place, warm and friendly, good value for money, would definitely recommend. We will be back.

We stayed here for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect. The staff were really helpful and friendly (a shout out for Skye 😊). The food was tasty and good value. There was a great selection of beer and ciders (I counted 6 ciders on tap!). We were in room 9, which is huge and with a bathroom bigger than many hotel rooms we've stayed in. Everything was really clean. The bed was a little soft for us, but the room was so quiet that we slept very well. The location is fantastic - we stayed during some very variable weather, but still managed some great walking. The roads to the hotel are narrow, and some are steep - you just have to drive carefully. The reward is a great hotel and pub.

The bar staff that served us wasn't very friendly, no hello no smile, ordered drinks then went back and ordered food again not very welcoming, had to keep repeating myself. We waited over half an hour for our baguettes (we had nearly finished our drinks) when others around us had received their meals. So went back up to bar and I felt like I was speaking another language as had to repeat what I said again. Another 10mins and the food came, slammed on table. Egg mayo didn't taste of egg just lots and lots of mayo. Sausage baguette had just one sausage in it so not really worth the money. We booked here last minute after some camping disasters. The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms were really restorative for us. The staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We recently held a wake here following my mother-in-law’s funeral, and the buffet provided by the Staghunters team was second to none. The variety of food was outstanding, beautifully presented, and constantly replenished — there was certainly no shortage. My mother-in-law, who was no stranger to catering for an event, would have been genuinely impressed. We were in the area and looking for a decent place to eat. This place looked to be one of the better ones in pics but the reviews conflate the Inn aspect of the business with the Restaurant aspect. You can see where I’m going with this. The food was okay. The dishes were creative, diverse, somewhat flavourful. But not fantastic or truly memorable. So, while I wouldn’t scream and shout about this place, I would say if you’re in the area you may want to check this place out. I think the best dish was the meat. I’ve recently found out about some food intolerances, and I’m nervous of eating out, here they take allergies and intolerances seriously. Everything was checked with the chef and alternative offered and made if the original didn’t work for me. Firstly, we went as a group of 7 on holiday and EVERYBODY had issues with their food. Expensive food and tiny portions, though this is contrary to other reviews so it may mean that they rotate their catering services. Food also comes out at very different times for each person and some were finished with their meal before others were served. There is also no portion difference between the kids meals and the adult meals. All of the steaks were burnt and very overcooked regardless of everyone requesting rare/medium rare. Secondly — and much more importantly —, there was a medical emergency where a man needed urgent medical attention. None of the staff were first aid trained, there was NOTHING in the first aid box that they provided us after we DEMANDED the INCOMPETENT STAFF & manager find ANYTHING to help the bleeding. Luckily, my girlfriend is first aid trained and was able to provide the best level of aid she could with the limited resources that we had to demand from the bar staff. There was no sterile gauze available or anything other than blue roll that we had to get ourselves from the unsanitary bathrooms. Considering this bar/restaurant is a 30 minute drive from the nearest hospital, you’d think they wouldn’t have an EMPTY first aid box and ZERO first-aid trained staff. Worse yet, the manager didn’t call an ambulance after saying that she would and we ended up calling an ambulance ourselves. 4 stars for atmosphere because initially the woman we talked to when we first arrived was very polite and the overall atmosphere of the establishment was very relaxed. The tables we were sat on were quite uneven which looks nice but many areas especially on the corners you can’t put a drink on or it will fall and spill. Don’t go with a large group, the staff cannot handle it and will mess orders up, they aren’t used to it. Some of the staff are either incredibly socially anxious or don’t speak English well. On arrival we were delighted to receive a room upgrade, which was such a thoughtful touch. The setting is peaceful and quiet, with only the sound of owls in the evening, making it a perfect retreat. Dinner in the “Love Book” was extraordinary – a real highlight of our stay – and breakfast the next morning was just as impressive. We are staying in a cottage in the village and found out the pub was open on a Sunday in winter. It was THE BEST roast chicken meal I've ever had. Beautifully seasoned dish with moist chicken and tasty vegetables. My husband had the beef and he's quite fussy with steaks, but he said it was mouth-wateringly delicious slices of steak cooked to perfection. Clean ale with bitter finishing (kiwi) was the drink and to be honest price was 4.30 for a pint which are pretty awesome . The food was excellent but totally let down by service. We stopped here on Two Moorsway for food, and the food was great, but service from the lady behind the bar and serving was lacking. 'Mine host' was reluctant to take my booking for a 6,30 table for two, sighing throughout, and unfortunately we had the temerity to get stuck in traffic on narrow roads, arriving a whole 3 minutes late. They are tiny toy poodles and they either sit on our laps our we take towels for them to lay on so they are not on the floor under people's feet. The location is great with beautiful gardens. The restaurant also nicely done out. Let down however by the first impression when drinks were delivered to the table in half empty glasses, no ice or garnish. Very bizarre. Then the childrens burger left alot to be desired. I can't understand why so little pride or effort is made for children's meals. Adults meals and dessert were all good however. But probably wouldn't return based on overall quality. On offer two ales Otter and Exmoore Pale ale, both of good quality. This is a proper pub and the locals chat happily with you, food is on offer lunch time and evening but we did not try today but heard it is good pub grub. UPDATE, we enjoyed the pub so much that we returned to try the food out and I'm very pleased to say it is very good too, Ems the barmaid is our host tonight and is lovely keeping the steady stream of customers happy. Very efficient ! Food is excellent as good as the service, piping hot, quickly served and freshly made, decent portions too. Special note, the Chilli and rice with warm crusty bread was especially lovely, but my family enjoyed everything served up from fish, to mac n cheese to baguettes. First room offered was freezing cold and very basic. Staff seem to want to be helpful; kindly obliged, and showed alternatives. We arrived at this place while on holiday with 5 adults and 2 dogs. The starters were lovely. Then we had an issue. Nothing that this place had caused, but Fathers in law was taken very ill. They cleared and area, allowed him to lie down assisted in moving him. They even didn’t charge us for the main meal as we weren’t able to eat it. They assisted in calling an ambulance. We booked for a Sunday carvery, 3 meat eaters and 1 veggie, and the food was fabulous. Piping hot, warm plates, tasty food, and the best cauli cheese and red cabbage that I have ever tasted. All of our party loved the food, and 4 empty plates were collected. 2 of us just made room to share a desert, a Devon delight. Heavenly!!!! The staff were all friendly and helpful, and we had a lovely afternoon. I requested a quiet table as we had 3 dogs, 1 who is reactive, and scared of young children. They allocated us a table in the bar, away from the busy restaurant, near a fire exit. It was perfect. Nobody passed our table, and we were all able to enjoy our meal without having to calm our dog. Around the campsite (ads with opening times from 8am till 10pm) and online it said the pub should be open but when we got there it looked rather closed. The door was opened for us after we stood in confusion for a bit and when we were let in we were the only ones there. Not sure if they just weren’t open but didn’t want to tell us? After a quite awkward interaction we enjoyed our cider outside, they asked us if we needed anything else and shut the door to the inside again, locking us out. Tried ringing but although we could hear phone ringing no-one answered the phone. Left message asking for call back but still waiting. We then called agent that arranged our stay and managed to arrange our stay at an alternative hotel close by. Absolutely awful!!!!
