The hotel is in a wonderful location. Very easy central access to the whole new forest with walks on the doorstep (albeit a short drive away). The town of brockenhurst is very nearby and walkable with restaurants and shops. The hotel itself looks wonderful and picturesque. The lobby and all restaurant areas are decorated to a high standard. The rooms felt modern and comfortable, with the exception of the bathroom which was ever so slightly dated and could've felt more high end in keeping with the rest of the room. The spa facilities were great, and well managed. The treatments were of excellent standard and well delivered. The restaurants were excellent, both serving great food and exceptional service with a good variety of choices. Would most definitely stay again!

The hotel is quite tired now, and has an 80s motel feel where the rooms are, with the old central part being more country feel. Our garden room was a little shabby, e.g. black mould on the bathroom tiles, paint wearing off the furniture. The spa is ok, again, quite tired and small, for example, only 2 people can fit in the sauna at a time. What makes the hotel though are the staff. The service was impeccable, in particular the staff managing the busy breakfast service. In addition, they are one of the best hotels Ive come across for catering for gluten free, with a wide variety of choice at breakfast and at the Zen restaurant for dinner.

We chose to do afternoon tea and a 60minute treatment for two separately. Afternoon tea was delicious and Kseniia looked after us wonderfully! Our 60 minute massages were with Tida and Onsri who were two women who can work miracles. We left floating as our bodies had been taken to heaven and back again within the 60 minutes. The hotel itself is having renovations and it’s not easy to navigate where reception is if it’s your first visit. Toilets are currently vacant hotel rooms with men and women using different number rooms. The spa will do blue light discount but the website doesn’t explain this so call them and book on the phone. Firstly, there was not enough staff on reception, meaning they never picked up the phone. Nb. The staff were very nice, so this is not a dig at them - they were absolutely run off their feet. The elevator was broken so we had to go up and down 3-4 times to order food, get a correct sized sheet etc. Not the best when you’re on the top floor with two small kids. The master remote control was broken, the drinking cup had toothpaste marks on it the inside. The hotel also charged extra for absolutely everything - £7 extra for room service, extra for a cot, extra for a bottle of water, extra service charge on food, extra for an adapter plug - even if you’re paying £290/ night for a room. Small touches like this would have been a nice service & we’d have been return customers if it hadn’t felt so misley, The breakfast was downright awful - I can’t sugarcoat this. Eggs - awful, tasteless. They may have even been powdered. Hard to tell. Tomatoes and potatoes looked like they’d been soaked and then cooked (soggy). They were also lukewarm as others have commented too. Fruit salad sat in a bowl of collected fruit juice so it felt soggy and old - which I don’t think it was actually old. Really this should be completely revamped. I also asked for a bottle of water from breakfast staff to make up a baby bottle and they couldn’t really comprehend this so I had to go elsewhere. The room we had was good and was initially very pleased - even despite a noticeable strong smell of bleach in the bathroom. Overnight however, the bleach smell faded and the bathroom smelt like a sewer and became so bad that we didn't/couldn't use the toilet in the morning and instead used the communal toilets downstairs. Whilst that was frustrating, and I understand that things can go wrong, it was the response to the feedback that was not excusable. We reported it to a lady on reception on check out who seemed completely disinterested in anything other than getting us to pay our bill for dinner the previous night. I asked her to come and see for herself on two occasions but declined. The manager was called but never arrived and a waitress who was acting as duty manager was sent instead, who said the manager would call us - I offered for her to come and see what the complaint was about but she too declined, stating that they "believed us". At this point it was clear they were either aware of the smell or quite simply didn't care. The phone call promised never came. We booked through Expedia, who we were told attempted to contact management on a couple of occasions on our behalf a week or so after, but they too were unable to make any progress. Thankfully Expedia applied some customer service skills and have provided us with compensation but nothing was ever offered by anyone at the hotel by way of any kind of apology or gesture of goodwill.

The roast overall was just okay? 7/10 at most. The sides at £5 each were incredibly underwhelming. The cauliflower cheese had hardly any flavour, or colouring to it, it needs another cheese added, some mustard, more seasoning, and the pigs in duvets, were three of the thinnest slices of half of a sausage I've ever seen. The yorkie was lovely, as were the roast potatoes, but we couldn't help leaving slightly disappointed. My partner had the veggie parcel, and it was a big strange, a pile of mushrooms dumped on top of the roast with a pastry top? it wasn't an encased parcel, and we couldn't really find any feta either. We were also coming to try out the Sunday roast, as we were looking at the huntsman being a potential for Christmas day, but sadly its a no from us. The venue is superb, based in a delightful location and with great facilities. The spa is outstanding with a great pool, steam room and outside hot tubs. The food was of a high standard and beautifully presented. We popped into the restaurant for some breakfast but didn’t want anything too heavy as we were due to have a late lunch in the spa. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and we felt very looked after. The spa itself was wonderful, the treatments were relaxing and the therapists took great care of us. The spa facilities were lovely, we had a sunny day so we were able to enjoy the hot tubs outside, with a glass of Prosecco. The staff are consistently very helpful and understanding and the facilities for families are just right. You get a session per day in The Den, where brilliant and qualified carers will look after your kids for a couple of hours, so you have a break from parenting. The spa is right next door to The Den, so you can drop your kids off and get a full two hours of relaxation there per day. (If you want any treatments or a massage, though, I'd advise booking that in advance.) The spa is great, with a pool, outdoor hot-tubs, sauna, etc. and lovely views across the fields where horses are running around. My kids worked out quite quickly that the best toys, games and activities for them were in The Den, so were very happy to go there when we dropped them off. The food is also great: there's an informal restaurant area which is great for eating with young kids, and a more formal restaurant area which we preferred going after they're in bed. (You can borrow Leap Frog video monitors from reception so you can keep an eye on them when you're down in the restaurant - they work on the hotel wifi so range isn't a consideration.) There is much to do in the local area as well; we particularly enjoyed renting bikes and exploring the New Forest a bit. We have previously stayed at moonfleet and the room was much cleaner and bigger. The changing mat provided had poo on it which I had to clean off, there was dust all over the room, the side of the sink was flirty etc Facilities as the previous reviews are great such as the spa and the Den. At the restaurants high chairs and baby seats are available, although they could definitely do with more as there were a few occasions families were waiting for one to be made available. Similarly where the website states bugaboo pram is available...you can't actually reserve it, so there is no guarantee you arrive and there will be one available for you - which means you have to bring your pram anyway! Breakfast options were great although on a fair few occasions for our coffee and hot breakfast orders were incorrect...which left us waiting. Very strange on the our last day were seated elsewhere without explanation( and can I add isolated too) which meant we had to keep getting up to call someone and come down for the food. Vegetarian options for dinner is limited, basically just burger which is £22, rather steep! Plus meant we had to leave the hotel to rush back for the activities in the evening for our daughter and feed time for our son! Lastly we went for our 10th anniversary, however, not even one staff member acknowledged this despite me seeing this on their paper ( not asking for flowers, chocolates etc just acknowledgement) where as I noticed others coming for birthdays etc were....so not sure why we were not! We made the most of it and our daughter really enjoyed herself, it's a great place for kids!

The hot stone massage was possibly the best I've had. The dry sauna and steam were excellent in terms of space and heat. The changing room facilities were nice but just expected a little more, example better quality facilities for hairstyling and better/more modern lockers, many of which didn't work or got stuck. There's also only a couple of changing cubicles and no additional area to pop bag and change (couple of padded corner spots only). The changing rooms were also incredibly warm. The variety of hydrotherapy areas was as described but would have expected the outdoor hot tub water to be a lot warmer. Lunch was nice but Breakfast was somewhat underwhelming. Staff/service was very good and the grounds are beautiful.

When I contacted Chewton Glen spa they were booked to, but offered me day passes for the spa facilities which was perfect and gave us exactly what I asked for. The night before our visit I realised I had booked the wrong weekend which was a disaster for me as I had by then told my girlfriend the plan and organised child care. In desperation and hoping not to be in the dog house for the remainder of the year, I called Chewton Glen in the hope they could move the day for me. I spoke to the night staff, who where incredibly helpful and by 6:30am the following morning my bacon was well and truly saved. That's incredible service in my eyes. The day was amazing, food was fantastic, staff were all wonderful and facilities fantastic. A big thank you to all the staff of Chewton Glen for helping me to give my girlfriend a wonderful birthday we will not forget.

The service was both professional and welcoming, and the location is excellent. In particular, Simon at the front desk who during the booking process went above and beyond to accommodate us and even arranged a birthday surprise upon our arrival. The only thing to note was that the room had noise from the boiler so it made it hard to get to sleep, however when raising this the manager was really professional, kind and mentioned this would be looked into.

And we did a day spa with treatments. All very good, nice terrace, nice spa, bit of a dated dining area. The bar is nice, and the staff friendly. We had a lovely room but unfortunately we were given a room over the bar and by the main road. It's honestly become our place of salvation; a place for bonding and reconnecting as a family again after the rough and tumble of normal, everyday, crazy life 😵‍💫. My family and I have stayed several times at this lovely hotel. An adult only holiday break. Our last stay was August 17th for three nights and I have been meaning to write this review for a while. It's a beautifully designed hotel with such attention to detail. It's comfortable and homely yet funky and fashionable with gorgeous fixtures and fittings. I know a good pooky light and bathroom tap when i see one ;). The beds and bedding are also top notch (so important). There's a tea and coffee station in the room with New Forest short bread (a lovely touch) and fresh milk delivered to your door every morning. The 'Natural' bath products with no nasties (shower gel, lotion and conditioner) are very well received and I personally believe what health conscious people prefer nowadays. The building is wonderful and deceivingly set back and vast with lovely courtyard spacious gardens and plenty of seating and attractive sun brollies for shade. When we were there there was live music for our coffee and sundowners. Very good cocktails incidently - we heard that ours were made by the flat mate of a member of staff. He made a stonkingly good strong margarita and espresso martinis. We could have all been abroad with the summer vibes it all evoked. Holiday mode activated instantly. What really makes Stanwell House exceptionally good are the staff. A hotel will grind to a holt without a good team. It doesn't help that I am quite awful at remembering names but we are now on first name terms with Amy, Jill and Dan at reception. They are always a joy and we know how hard they work. The reception team are personable, kind courteous and professional and always help my family if they can. We've driven Jill and Amy mad on several occasions trying to work out our dates to stay when all our family can make it. They never dissapoint to help us. Thank you! The restaurant and bar staff also work very hard indeed to run a smooth ship. Again, I wish I could remember the names of each lovely member of staff. On the last day of my stay I made a note of Courtney and Maks; two lovely staff who were working the breakfast shift together. Thank you Courtney for remembering my black iced coffee each day. SH does excellent strong coffee BTW for all the coffee lovers out there. The food at Stanwell House is also very good indeed. The Sunday roast was amazing! Everything was just exceptional - the meat, the veg and especially THE GRAVY, which was just out of this world. Likewise, the crumble (apple, rhubarb and quince I think) was innovative and delicious, and the breakfast was gorgeous - great, tasty, locally sourced ingredients. For our stay, the staff were all so friendly and helpful and our room was fantastic. One word of warning - no food available at all on a Sunday evening after 7:30pm at The Bell or the pub over the road, so if staying on a Sunday night (and have had a big Sunday lunch so can't eat early, like us!) be prepared to bring provisions or have crisps at the bar! But we had a fabulous time in a fabulous part of the world and I'm sure we will be back to The Bell soon!!

Great location with interesting and spacious garden. A lot of tables and chairs in garden well laid out and clean and tidy. As a former hotelier and publican I thought providing a good level of service to a high standard is going to be challenging at peak busy times. Staff were cheerful and friendly and gave good service. Sunday Menu was good with a mixed offering of choices. Pricing was a little on the high side for what was on offer. Desserts were also similarly too high price and a simple biscuits and cheese platter priced at £15.50 not acceptable. Bar prices also a touch too high. Will be interesting to see if customer levels can be kept buoyant "out of season" at the current price point. Will go back for another visit to see midweek offering regarding service, pricing and quality of menu. From the moment I booked, the staff at the Old Mill couldn’t have done more to facilitate and enable us to have the celebratory event we wanted. We absolutely loved our stay. The place is lovely and very special. Staff were excellent and made us feel welcome and looked after. We had a suite, which was nice and comfortable. It has a slipper bath and a shower. A good selection of teas and coffee plus a mini fridge with chilled milk and water. There were also a couple of lovely freshly made shortbread biscuits left for us. Dinner was fabulous. My wife had some focaccia bread and olives to start, and OMG the bread was lovely- yes it’s bread but it was banging! I had mussels with leeks in a creamy sauce to start and it was fantastic. Mains were Hassleback potatoes, steak and broccoli for my wife and I had an excellent fish pie. We finished with a superb crème brûlée and an Irish coffee. 10/10 for everything. The next morning we had a lovely cooked breakfast which was fabulous. Very good coffee and quality food. We highly recommend this place and will go back again. There are a couple of very small observations that stopped me giving 5/5 for the room. Firstly there are a few areas of wear & tear where a refresh is probably due. Secondly, the was an ongoing humming above the room (possibly the boiler) that was irritating and stopped me getting off to sleep. I just wanted to hear nothing but the silence of the countryside.

We didn't book any table and they found us a cosy little table near the entrance. I love the mill, the decorations, the tables and more. We prompt were attended and sat. We enjoyed watching the great atmosphere. They were short of staff apparently as it took time to waitress to attend us but all the rest was fine. The service was great and so it was the food. It was raining but the beer garden looks great. Plenty of parking space and lovely gardens around the rivers. Really good place to go and enjoy.

It rained yet it was still magical looking out into the garden during dinner. The food is fantastic and the sommelier really knew his stuff selecting the perfect wine for each course. The staff were great and we even got a list of where to go in Paris when we go. Milk is supplied in a cold thermos or there is a little fridge on a table by the top of the stairs. Lots going on on bank holiday for families and couples. Food was lovely and service was great,lots of choice of beers and cider and extensive wine list. Nice walk to the local village which has everything from bike hire to witches shops. One more thing as the hotel is in the forest and it is so quiet in the night its worth getting up and going for a little walk.

The restaurant is beautifully laid out with a lovely homely feel although there is a small garden area and covered outdoor area too. The vibe is classy yet casual but there is nothing casual about the food they serve. I could have happily worked my way through the entire menu but a shared starter of double cheese soufflé was the order of the day followed by duck confit for me and a lovely cod fillet with samphire and sweet potato fondant for my better half. The food was sensational , beautiful cooked, bursting with flavour and decent portion size. Pricing was also spot on for the obvious quality of ingredients and overall experience. I will let the photos below do the story telling but the tastes and flavours were as good as the pictures show and I think without a shadow of a doubt we will be back again to sample some more of their fayre. It would be rude not to indulge in dessert too when in a quality establishment in my mind and a shared lemon syllabub (where do you see that on a menu nowadays) was decided upon and was again sensational !!! The beds were comfy with an en suite with a bath, there was also 6 full size pillows on the bed to choose from. Breakfast again lots of staff to help and explain how breakfast works, lots of fresh fruit, yoghurt, full English, juice and cereals, tea, coffee , checking out time was 11 which was perfect for our cruise time, parking was £15 and also plenty of spaces. Booked this place for our stay for peppa pig world. Grounds were lovely however..where to start. Room was lovely but when we got to the swimming, mould everywhere and moss growing on the windows, no changing room just one shower room which was freezing and a bit of MDF nailed into the bottom of the window. Got into bed, noise all night, dogs barking, people banging doors, people talking and kids running up and down the corridor. Staff outside on shift were talking loudly. Barely any sleep. Just on and off all night. Breakfast: beautiful room however ordered the breakfast the sausage and poached egg was undercooked and when asked for another one the egg was the same! Had to make two rounds of toast just to keep me going. Just a shame as the hotel grounds and aesthetics stunning but a lot let it down. We have instantly fallen in love with this place. It’s a stunning place beautiful surroundings, beautiful inside. The room we had was perfect only issue I personally had was the shower head was not adjustable and me being 6 foot 2 I did have to crouch to wash my hair but honestly it wasn’t that big of a deal I was still able to have a comfortable shower. The room had everything we needed in it and we slept like logs every night. The service here is honestly incredible. The staff were so polite and welcoming and whenever something was asked they happily helped with a smile. We definitely want to keep coming back here and I’d recommend others come here and check this place out. I did read reviews before we came here and I will say pretty much all the complaints I’ve seen we didn’t experience in 3 nights here. The bedroom and bathroom overall were reasonably good. One of the showers did not work. Our room was average, fairly dated, but with some missing amenities- tea, a phone, a welcome pack, a room service menu etc. But bed was comfy and the smart TV was good. Hotel and facilities were all very nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Esp Deborah who was always so cheerful on reception. We enjoyed our stay in the New Forest-good to have things on the doorstep from the hotel as well. The swimming pool was a lovely extra to have. Breakfast was a great choice and service provided by the lovely host was excellent. Would definitely recommend a stay here. Just a suggestion to make the swimming pool adult only swimming between 7am-9am and then 7pm-10pm. Lovely if the sauna was open and working as well. The room perhaps just needs a little freshen up. Shower pressure needed more power. Refills for shampoo/shower gel could be refills rather than disposables. All minor things to improve but our stay overall was enjoyable and we would love to come again. Thank you.

All we can say is if the offer was at full price we would have left and asked for a refund. We were given a grim room. The lightshades were broken, the carpet was dirty and worn and had no underlay - it was like walking directly on a concrete floor. The toilet seat was askew, toilet roll holder kept tipping and the vinyl bathroom floor was lifting and badly rumpled. The toilet required 2 flushes at least, as it the flush was so ineffectual. There was black mould around the bath tiles and dirt around the bath tap fitment. The bedroom was very dated with damaged furniture. The doors had to be slammed shut which was a nightmare at night. The tea and coffee facility was basic, 4 breakfast teabags and 4 Earl Grey, and 8 Nescafe sachets. Ok, you may think but, you have to go and ask reception for anything more or replacements as they do not service the room while you are there. We ended up with rubbish, teabags, sour milk jugs accumulating. We were so disappointed that we were given such a basic room when the offer suggests a twice the price room!! The hotel wasn't remotely full so why lose a repeat booking over penny pinching and allocating a room which was genuinely substandard. We understand cost cutting but there were no extras like shower caps, dressing gown, and things to make your stay comfortable. A single standard pump bottle for all your soap requirements, shower, shave, hair wash, and conditioner. Our meal was served in the bar. Simple choice. However, very poor value however, if we had been paying separately. On the plus side. The bed was large and quite comfortable, although a tiny room. The towels were white and good quality. The very few staff were super. Professional polite and friendly. Kelly, the breakfast room supervisor (?) on both our days, was exemplary. The hot water tap in the bath does not shut properly so it stays dripping all day/night. We arrived late when the front desk had closed and the accommodation doesn't come with a welcome leaflet or sheet of paper, so we didn't have any information regarding wifi passwords, breakfast times and the out of hours number to call if we needed anything. We had to wait until morning to call front desk for the information. It would have been helpful if that information was readily available. The bedrooms are greatly furnished and the sheets and towels are clean

The little touches i.e robes, slippers, toiletries (to name a few!) gave it a really personal touch, a home from home. The breakfast was also delicious and Bridget, also super helpful and lovely, made sure we had everything we needed. Visited 2021] Lovely stay in an amazing room at the Sentry Mead Hotel! The staff were super attentitive, the room enormous, the bed comfortable and the breakfaster brilliant! Bathroom was very spacious too, with a nice bath. This side of the island is much quieter than the eastern coast, but even so we were very well connected by bus. The bus comes ~3mins walk from the hotel every 30mins or so up and down the coast. The Needles Breezer even stops there too. So it was good for accessibility. Close to Totland Bay beach too, with some nice walks around. The owners are very happy for you to order/bring back a takeaway and eat it in their dining room, or even your own room. They provide cutlery, glasses and condiments for this in the dining room, which I thought was very generous. The dining room looks out over their lovely garden. Everything was all perfectly clean. We really did have an amazing time. I don't expect that we'll go back to West Isle of Wight, but if we do I'm sure we'd stay here again!

Andrew, Cas are incredible hosts and managers, Brigitte and Tess keep the ship in tight working order! What a brilliant team 😍. The attention to detail paid to everything shows so much care. BUT It’s an old building and it was the Isle of Wight festival week. All in all one of the best places I’ve stayed, can’t wait to go back.

The caravan was a very comfortable size for the two of us and the cat. Clean on the whole. It was the first time experiencing staying in a caravan, and a good one to recommend. Shower room comfortable with good size sink. Notes in caravan regarding toilet use, might be conflicting but, met and chatted with owner Colin, and this was cleared up. Colin was very welcoming and we had quite a long chat, of which I probably shouldn't mention but, some lovely cake was had at the end of this. Thank you Colin. As my partner and I was there for a rest, we didn't go to the New Forest (saving for another visit) we stayed and chilled at the caravan. Very Good space between each spot, and so you do not feel encroached on by others. Great bonfire, and lovely skies at night. We did enjoy the location. A short walk to the little village of one shop and a pub, all worth it. The one thing I would have preferred in the caravan is non plastic plates etc.... I should have mentioned this to Colin but, this does not take away from the enjoyable experience. A definite plus for us, and we would recommend a visit here.

The area is perfect for walking and cycling, with plenty of beautiful trails to explore. There's also a small community shop and a lovely pub just a 10-minute walk away. The caravan itself was super comfortable and had everything we could possibly need — it really felt like a home away from home. Another thing we really appreciated was how private and spacious the site is. Unlike many other places where pitches are crammed close together, here there’s plenty of space between the glamping tents and huts, which makes for a much more relaxing stay.
