Two of the guys got burgers, and had no complaints. They had wings as a starter too. Overall, a brilliant place. Very stylish, but still keeping the "bar" theme. Food was great, service was very friendly (Calum, our guy, was 5 star! Great fella) and overall, a great find. Service was friendly and great including beer tasters to decide which I wanted. I had one of their local brews and roast chicken dinner. The food came out quickly and was excellent. Tender chicken with two pieces, a breast with wing and a leg. Roast potatoes, carrot and parsnip and a Yorkshire pudding accompanied the meat. Totally enjoyed it. You can pay up front or have a tab. Pub was fairly quiet but enough people to be lively at 8pm on a Sunday night. Server Callum was great, thanks!

Stop for friendly the beers were great however it does get a little bit busy and noisy so if you're looking for a quiet one or two drinks this might not be the place on a busy weekend day. So, I was looking somewhere to eat some food. After a good walk around the town I found myself stumbling upon this little pub. I was greeted by a really friendly member of staff and was advised to go and pick a seat out the back. I ordered myself the salt and pepper squid, a chicken and ham pie with mashed potato vegetables and onions rings and to finish off, I had Apple crumble with ice cream and custard. I'm not exaggerating here but the food was incredible, from the squid that was really fresh and cooked perfectly. Moving onto the pie it had a really nice thick crispy pastry with thick gravy and I'm not normally a fan of gravy but it was very nice. The mash potato was soft and you could tell it was fresh. The crumble was really nice although a smaller portion than I would normally have. It was just perfect as I am a bit greedy . There was a lovely atmosphere nice and cozy. If I come back to Poole, I would love to come back here again.

Carla and Pete welcome myself and two others late on Sunday night when they could have just closed and engaged us in conversation for an hour. The first thing one of my companions noticed as a serious appreciator of real ale was that the beer tasted really good and clean and Pete told him that’s because they’d completely cleaned the pipes as well as deep cleaned the kitchen. Interestingly I have never seen so many pubs on a seafront before. From the outside the pub as an interesting green tile finish, which I'm sure in the summer looks amazing. I booked a table a few days before which was worthwhile doing as I feel we got the best table in the pub which was a window seat. Please note this is a fish restaurant and the choice they have on offer is exceptionally good with a varied price list so great for most budgets. The pork was ok, also fatty but somewhat expected, the portion of chicken was on the smaller side with soggy skin. The stuffing had no flavour. the Yorkshires needed to rise. The roast potatoes weren't fluffy and didn't seem roasted at all. The choice of veg was bizarre (Kale/Beetroot?, carrots, potato), it was cooked ok but again, no flavour whatsoever. I hate to leave negative reviews, I want to emphasise that the pub, the drink choices, the general atmosphere and the front of house staff were fine/good, but this review is focused on the food and it just wasn't enjoyable at all, I regret eating here. I can see many 5* reviews (hence why we went there) but I cannot understand why, for the Roast at least. Go to this pub for food at your own risk. The food was edible but just didn't hit the spot!

It's a Wadworth pub so a good selection of real ales available and the cellarman is doing a great job. The food is very much standard pub choices plus Sunday roasts and a few specials. It was my son’s 10th birthday present, so had a lot of high expectations. A little back story my son Nicholas fell in love with penguins at Bournemouth oceanarium and had a small penguin teddy since he was a baby. And his love has just grown over the years. The whole batch needs to be discarded as it’s clearly off. All that said the staff were apologetic and passed on the chef’s apologies too and the meal was deducted from the bill . Warmly greeted on arraival and shown to our table, which also seemed to show off the tardis like nature of the place, seemings bigger than the outside would suggest. A good range of ales as well as low to no options. The sunday menu is pretty much geared towards a traditional Sunday Lunch. Orders were taken and starters delivered within a reasonable time, the staff were attentive and the time between starters and mains pretty much bang on. The portions were generous, but not excessively so. I do have to mention the quality of the meat, excellently prepared and with a wonderful, thick, tasty gravy to pour over it and into the Yorkshire, top draw. The Old Thatch was busy, buzzing, but not to the point you would struggle with conversation. The question of do you want desert met with a smile. The location is beautiful, very cosy pub, dogs are welcome and we had a nice table in the corner for more comfort and peace. The food was really good, our friends were impressed about the burgers and the pies. Fish and chips was also fantastic. Prices as average pubs in the area. My only note would be on the service: I rarely met such a blunt and little welcoming waitress. Staff in Mc Donald's or Starbucks are far more smiley, nicer and kinder with their customers. Very last minute decision to book for dinner early on Sunday evening. 6 adults, 4 children, 2 dogs. Absolutely no problem with accommodating us. Had the garden room to ourselves which was perfect for a family with very young children and a woofy dog. Staff were absolutely brilliant, lovely welcome, taken to table, settled....and NOTHING was too much trouble. Although it was a Sunday menu one of us fancied a dish from the weekday menu and was assured that was no problem. From the delicious Sunday roast beef and trimmings including massive Yorkshire pudding and wonderful selection of vegs, to the vegan curry, children's choice and everything in between, the food was delicious, presented beautifully, all arrived together, hot and tasty. Our waitress who we believe is also the co owner was friendly, accommodating, patient and delightful with our 3 year old granddaughter and went above and beyond to make sure we were all catered for and had the best possible experience. We are here for the week , may well be back later this week, but if not we come every year and will add this to our list of regular visits.... meanwhile won't hesitate to recommend to our friends. One particular night some time around 16th October, a large group of us arrived early so that we could get a table. The family of the landlords walked in and loudly said “they’re at OUR table”. It made us feel slightly unwelcome and awkward, but thought no more of it until the following week when we arrived to find that the table had been specifically reserved for them. This in itself wasn’t a problem, as we took the next available table for a large group. We arrived at 19:05, at which point they hadn’t arrived. We had ordered two chicken burgers and a couple of sides. When the food did arrive, it was lukewarm (but warm enough to eat), and one chicken breast had been split between two burgers. The food was not worth the money (almost £50) we paid, however given that we were both hungry and didn’t want to cause a fuss, we just ate what we could and carried on with our night, but definitely felt that the landlords’ family had been prioritised over us. Whilst I will return to the venue for drinks, I probably won’t ever eat there again. That aside, the bar staff are the real assets of this venue and this is reflected in my score for service. Then the dress code.. when it first opened they were strict on a dress code being smart casual and as I said before it felt like a high end night out but unfortunately that has slipped aswell and it felt like they would let anyone in tonight. The tables and general decor felt both dirty and outdated really not what you would expect from this place… the only good thing I can really say was the staff were nice and had a excellent attitude towards us… we will NOT be coming here again and are more then willing to try out the steakhouse next door instead as just from walking by felt like the better option by a mile.. it’s really sad as I personally loved this place when it first opened but now I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone… hopefully they can turn things around…

They have a furry friends menu as well as 1 for us. The wine list has suggestions by each wine to compliment the meals being served. There is a pool table and a beer garden. You can also buy a hot drink, they sell amongst other s, badger beer. They offer free venue hire when ordering the buffet. There is no parking on site and no specific accessibility toilet, 2 small steps and 2 doors to get through to the toilet. They have the use of ramps to get to the beer garden if required. Outside is a slightly iffy looking covering over the seating area but it certainly keeps you dry and warm which tbh is all that you need. First pub I've drank in with its own lifeboat!! The reviews seemed good so we went to check it out. We were really pleased we did. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was really nice. I had the homemade nachos, some were a little over done, but I actually prefer that. Salsa had a good kick. The mains were served hot and we didn't have to wait too long between courses. They had some colouring in for our little boy so that kept him entertained and then afterwards we sat outside and he enjoyed the play park. With so many types of Cider available it is a little overwhelming choosing but the staff let you try them and are able to give advice. The food is alright - I had the festive pizza and it was lovely. The crumble isn't what I'd hoped for but it was a healthy style pudding. The service can be a little slow - we were the only table there and despite pre-ordering waited a little longer than expected. A good place to try pies, and though the pizzas are good, they are not exceptional. I do recommend a side of the herbed potato wedges though! A little disappointed with the pie as it was a bit dry and lacked meat. Pizza's looked good though. My next visit was even more disappointing, only one pie option, so had no choice but to try the pizza but the one I chose and some others that my friends wanted you couldn't get as they ran out of chicken???? We reserved a table which was upstairs on a Friday evening. Sadly on this occasion that staff, who suggested they were short-staffed, struggled to cope. It wasn't packed but they weren't able to get drinks to the table in 15 mins which was just not great - especially not *every* time. Food was a little slow but delicious as always. The waitresses were friendly but just couldn't manage to get things to us in good time. Something was missing from one meal so they kindly brought it out in a small bowl but then promptly charged us for it on the bill. We had to pay at the till rather than the table but only one member of staff could process it as it required a manager to remove the mistake. Bit disappointing all-in-all on this occasion. On the positive side, some staff members are very knowledge on their ciders and ales.
