We were really excited about the fireplace advertised but signs saying we couldn't use them in the room. No door on the bathroom, which was weird. We noticed there was a refrigerator so we went to the store and came back only to find the refrigerator didn't work. I had no place to keep the temperature sensitive stuff we bought. The wifi signal was horribly intermittent at best. The final straw was when we went to shower and there was no hot water. At this point instead of booking a couple more nights we decided to go elsewhere as we got no response about the issues we had. I wish I could rate the breakfast separately because it was very nice and the cook was very friendly and accommodating. I had no recourse because of the lack of response about our problems with the room. We would have stayed had someone responded to us.

If it was possible to give it more than five stars, I would. This is not a new, shiny hotel with all the amenties. Instead it is a place with immeaserable charm from the moment you enter. A kind employee advised us the water in room was not potable after we had already used it for coffee and hydration. There are no signs in room indicating water is not potable. My boyfriend has been very ill since day 2 of our stay. He drank the water without knowing.Going straight to doctor when we get home. As someone who has been in the hospitality industry for over 33 years, this is unacceptable. False advertising as there are no amenities at the property. Only a room with a view, bugs and non potable water.

We had never been here before and were quite excited. To clear things up from a post on trip advisor they DO offer self park, they ask you when you arrive. So to the people saying they dont is lying a bit. We booked a global room and we did get the Texas room. Upon first arrival the room was nice looking. The hotel even provided us with chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary! We stayed 2 nights with our children. The room service from the restaurant was amazing and the breakfast burrito was to die for. Room was spacious as well. Now to address the 3 stars, the Texas room needs to be renovated and the furnishings need to be updated and replaced. The couches and chair was super flat and have seen better days. The chairs in the dining area broken and stained. The light fixtures are broken and just need some love. We did have a mishap and one of the shower heads came flying off and the toilet in the spare bedroom was broken. Housekeeping needs to be retrained on how to properly clean rooms as the floors were dirty and we had ants in the room.(We were next to a pond). This is one of the main issues I see alot of people had. We left for the day and housekeeping did not clean our room although requested they just made beds and brought towels. Table dirty, floors not cleaned and ants still visiting. The customer service we had was AMAZING and they did give us a small discount for the issues although I think it should have been more considering we paid over 1k for 2 nights. These rooms need to either be renovated ASAP or the price dropped. We do plan on visiting again so hopefully these issues can be resolved. The property is beautiful!

I stayed in the Taos Mountain King room. It faced the courtyard. The room was clean and stylish. I enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and just taking in the peaceful views. The best part of the room, as a single traveller, was the tub that was a part of the main room rather than in a walled off bathroom (although you could draw the curtains for privacy, if needed). You could watch TV while soaking. The grounds were lovely. The pool and hot tub was open until 10pm and relaxing. I stayed in October so it would have been nice for the pool to be heated to room temp but it was still nice. The location is great and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The staff was very nice. During my stay, parking was free. The valet was also nice enough to store my bike during my visit. Overall I would recommend this place if the pricing is right for you.

Bathroom lighting was good. Not much space around sink but on toilet tank and the towel shelf there was enough room to set everything out on. Rooms by the parking lot get orange light coming through and around the blinds. Wi-fi was great a lot of the time but spotty in the evenings. Plenty of free parking but it could use a little upgrade. Location is terrific! Walking distance to lots of galleries and shopping! We enjoyed the Kit Carson house and museum which is just around the corner.

Where they fail at is their service. When we checked in during the evening we were informed of a complimentary breakfast but that was misleading the only thing they offer was coffee and tea. The next thing that was upsetting was the attitude the next morning, the service desk gave us. Brandy was rude, aggressive and condescending when we informed her about a bar charge on the card, she stated that they needed to check the cameras first before they can remove the charge. We try to inform her that we didn’t go to the bar at all we only went out grabbed a burger from the burger stand up the street and returned back to our room. She still refused to accept this and then became even more condescending when we wanted a receipt and to return the key. She became even more upset telling us, “do you want to pull it out under my foot?” She was then informed to go get the receipt which she stubbornly did. Due to this interaction it killed any respect for this establishment. And to any readers to my review I hope you don’t have to deal with the front desk clerk named Brandi.

I didn’t want to be disingenuous and make up dates I knew we could not make so we are just gonna eat the charges. Like I said, totally my fault, but I do have to point out that the Taos Inn, where we have stayed before and even brought another couple w us, and where we have eaten and had drinks MANY, MANY a time, missed a huge opportunity. Instead of giving me the grace of a travel credit (even for one night which I suggested) and have a customer FOR LIFE, they chose the other avenue. And we will not be going back. But the lesson from my perspective is why not offer up a credit and engender good will and make life long customers who will ALWAYS recommend the Taos Inn? Apparently I cannot respond to the response so I will amend. The only reason I had two reservations is that I completely forgot I booked the Taos Inn. Call it aging brain or stupidity, but we only figured it out AFTER we had checked in and unpacked at the other hotel. My husband then asked me what were the charges at the Taos Inn? I panicked, started checking my email frantically and began calling the Taos Inn. It was not on purpose in any way. FTR, I explained what had happened when checking out of El Monte Sagrado and they were surprised the Taos Inn had responded as they did. Both women view the Taos Inn as a community center, salt of the earth kind of place. I posted this review in hopes of a different ending.

The others in the lobby did witness the interaction and one even stopped me on my way out to ask if I was alright and said I had handled it better than she would have so your assertion that other guests told you all I was “out of line” is dishonest. My partner was not even present for this interaction but did have the conversation with the gentlemen the previous evening about breakfast. He brought this up in his review, I did not in mine because it wasn’t an issue for me. I chalked it up to a miscommunication and moved on. Checking in with Brett was great! He is friendly and warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable. Great experience with him. You saying that “my partner and I were out of line” is simply proof that you’re being dishonest about the interaction because he was not even present. The charge taken from my account in addition to the amount paid through AirBnb was $179.75 so even with the “ bar charge” there’s still $45-ish unaccounted for.

I wish the local car culture would grow up and realize that being macho isn’t about revving your cars all night long and drag racing in the plaza. Rooms and bathrooms were reasonably sized despite the building constraints. Plenty of parking in back, unloading and loading was easy. We will NOT be back. We stayed on the third floor in one of the two rooms that had a balcony (a more expensive room). There are only four rooms on the third floor. On our first trip up the stairs we passed a younger woman between the second and third floor. Once in the room, we unpacked and sat on the balcony. Immediately we saw numerous people in the park that seemed to be homeless. After a few minutes, 2 vehicles drove up in the hotel unloading zone with more homeless looking individuals. The attention to detail in every room, the incredible home cooked breakfasts every morning, and the overall natural beauty of the whole property is amazing!!! But what sets this apart from really anywhere else is the pure joy and love these two manifest on every single thing that they touch. A friend rented the entire venue for a wedding and it was wonderful! Great spots to sit and relax and forget about your responsibilities. While it does have many charming fine points in terms of updated design and kind staff, it was a bit of a disappointment overall, given the cost of the room v. the quality of our stay. It has an intimate boutique feel, with only a handful of rooms in a restored, traditional-Southwestern building. But the property itself is in need of tending. The courtyard, which is lovely in concept, looks as though it hasn’t been weeded all season, and guests need to wipe off tables and chairs themselves to enjoy the outdoor space. Likewise, the rooms are well designed and attractive but in need of service. For instance, each room has a portable AC unit that vents through the main window. Instead of having two shades at each pane (one to come down atop the large vent tube and another for the rest of the window), there is instead a single shade which slants at a cockeyed diagonal starting about a foot from the bottom, thus letting in substantial morning light. The shades at the doors do the same, as they hang out by a couple of inches, so sunshine beams in and privacy is a bit compromised. There were other small things that made us question attention to detail as well — old light switches installed upside down, a too-long toilet chain that has to be jiggled with care to make the stopper flange engage, a screen door that’s installed at an angle so it scrapes the pavers and doesn’t open fully, etc. Breakfast is in a communal dining space, bed-and-breakfast style, but the food options were limited and the same daily (quiche, bagels, yogurt, granola, coffee, juices). Sort of like a motel or condo’s with three or four rooms in each section. Great for parking close to our room. I would suggest a door mat to wipe your feet on either inside the room or outside. Wi-Fi was really slow. No breakfast included but they do have a restaurant if you want to buy it, although costly. Parking was really good with plenty of space for our small motorcycle trailer. They don’t do daily room cleaning. Towels are big and fluffy. Beds were mostly comfortable, though they slant toward the outside where everyone lays. It was an easy walk to the main areas. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had with waffles, toast, bagels, muffins, cereals, hot items of eggs, meat of the day, tamales, and juices. The service was fantastic and you can tell they care about the place. The hot tub, pool, grounds with horseshoe and corn hole with a bbq area make it enjoyable. The room was large with a lovely patio that made it enjoyable to sit out and hear the birds, enjoy the breeze, and chill. The elevator was not working, which wasn't a huge deal this trip, if I was on a trip with my dad this would be a huge concern that definitely should have been communicated to all reservations at the time it failed. The staff was wonderful. We stayed in the Taos Pueblo room, and hot water ran thru the baseboards no matter what the thermostat said. We turned the heat completely off, and it didn't change anything - hot water still ran thru the heaters. We ended up keeping the A/C on all night in October, which cycled on and cycled off all night. We didn't get great rest. The room was terribly hot. The location was great, but we had a big truck and came in late and it was very hard to find parking in their lot. Breakfast was great! If we visit again, I'll try and reserve a room in the second building across the alley and see if the heating situation is better over there.

Our room was on the back side with a view of some kind of building stuffed with old furniture. There was no AC and it was a stifling hot day in the high 90’s. The room was so tiny we could barely get around the bed. Interesting old decor and furniture, southwest style. We couldn’t have survived in the room’s stifling heat so they were gracious enough to move us downstairs to a larger cooler room, but the entire situation was very odd. No tv available because we didn’t bring a Roku, which we didn’t have to begin with, and who travels with one of those, anyway? Doing without tv was fine but there was also no cell service on our phones without going outside and walking around the dumpster area. That’s doable, too, but you need to know that without tv, you’ll also not have your phone for entertainment. After one night we wanted to leave. But the owner wouldn’t refund our 2nd night’s payment, so we were stuck. It’s quiet and the bed was comfortable. We never saw or met the owner, but believe she lives in the room next to ours. I will be addressing, and reporting these issues with the local Building, Fire Safety, and Health Department , and other licensing, and certification just for the protection and safety of public.

After Brad received my email, the day of our planned arrival, he called and spoke with me in a very angry tone, telling me that he was canceling our reservation. This left us scrambling to get a place to stay because we were literally a couple of hours away from Taos and our expected stay at Touchstone Inn. We would have stayed, even though the Inn was incorrectly advertised as a B & B and couldn't believe that they cancelled us because of an email advising that they are incorrectly advertised!!
