As a suggestion, I recommended this restaurant to my parents for their anniversary which was yesterday when all 9 of us went for their anniversary meal. We all went in for the Unlimited Chefs Meze selection with tagines. They said they’d start us off with our first round of dishes and proceeded to collect our menus. Lots of dips (hummus, tzatziki and baba ghanoush) and bread came out, and as we ate and tried to pace ourselves for more interesting dishes, more food came out. Basically, dish after dish came out in quick succession which was enjoyable. The down side was the fact that there were maybe too many dishes of the same kind and only 1 meat dish from a total of 9 on the menu. There are a couple of ways to rectify this for future visits: 1. It would have been nice and helpful if the staff asked if there were any specifics dishes we wanted from the meze selection. 2. Next time we will make sure to request dishes we want from the beginning. Overall it was a nice experience, but I preferred going for my own anniversary where we ordered just 6 meze dishes, however, they were things we liked the sound of rather than lots of filler food that we didn’t finish. A nice thing they permitted at the end was to take some leftovers home in some tupperware which wouldn’t normally be the case with the unlimited meze selection. TLDR; with the unlimited meze selection, make sure to look at the menu and order the dishes you wish to try at the beginning of your dining session.

They were very busy and we weren’t feeling overly optimistic that they’d be able to seat us! But the absolutely lovely lady who welcomed us in said they could seat us in 30 mins time. She then offered us a seat over by the bar area so we could enjoy a drink before our meal. We enjoyed a glass of Rockfish rose, the Portuguese tinto red wine and the Salcombe Breeze as we perused the menu. We ordered the spidercrab croquettes, the fish tacos and the haddock and chips. All were absolutely delicious! The seafood tasted super fresh and the flavours of the dishes were well balanced and very tasty. The staff were very helpful although I would say we were informed about the catches of the day maybe slightly too late as we had already made our minds up from looking at the menu provided and didn’t know there was even more to choose from! The atmosphere was lively when we arrived, and I think perhaps the restaurant would have benefitted from a little more sound insulation as it was quite loud. It was ok for me but my parents were struggling a little with the noise levels. Overall a fantastically delicious meal in a lovely setting in the Exeter Quay. We will be back!

Today was different. My normal order is battered halloumi and chips and my partner has fish and chips. Today, we pre-ordered battered halloumi, haddock and chips as usual and went to collect. When we got home, we realised I had been given breaded mozzarella sticks instead of halloumi. We drove back to the shop to ask for the correct item. The staff in the shop insisted that the mozzarella sticks were their "new version" of halloumi which is smaller because they were losing money on the original size. The woman in the shop assured me it was definitely halloumi as she had cooked it herself. The item I had was 100% mozzarella (it was stretchy in texture and tasted exactly like mozzarella and nothing like halloumi). My partner checked too and agreed. I would have understood if the staff in the shop had been honest and said they had run out of halloumi, or made a mistake, or admitted to whatever the reason for the wrong food was, but the blatant dishonesty was very disappointing.
