Trash thrown inside past the gate, and thorny briar plants over growing around the outside of the fort. Its apparent that kids or deliquents are somehow climbing inside and tossing trash around. My family stopped here on our roadtrip across Ireland, hoping to learn more about this historic landmark and admire it, but its unfortunate that its locked up (perhaps because of the trash?) and not maintained. I’d still recommend driving by if you need fresh air! The beach beside it is beautiful, and the view is awesome. Looks like there’s a walking trail and a cafe nearby. Wish we could have explored the fort though! I hope someone cleans it up.
