Our group rented the keepers house near the lighthouse before night. The scenery was stunning. It was a once in a lifetime event. The views from the 2 story keepers house were amazing, the views from the one story house (made of cinder blocks painted white) weren’t as great. Great place for a family reunion or any group event.
Easy drive to Port Townsend and there is so much to see in that beautiful Victorian Port Town.

Fort Worden State Park is a fantastic place that truly has it all. It’s a perfect spot for anyone whether you're a history buff, an outdoor enthusiast, or just looking for a great family outing with amazing wildlife.
What really stands out is the history. You don't just read about the past here; you get to walk right through it. The old forts and battle stations are incredible to explore, giving you a real, hands-on feel for what life was like back then. It's a powerful and unforgettable experience to stand in those massive concrete structures and imagine the soldiers who once manned them.
But the park isn't just about history. There's so much to do outside. You can rent a kayak to paddle the shoreline, go for a hike, or overnight camping. If you’re in Port Townsend and into history this is the place for you. There’s a trail that you can walk around. A light house that you can explore. A small aquarium and a museum store. You can camp on the grounds, lay on the beach. Although I’m not sure about going into the water. It is cold!

We drove through Fort Worden park and down to the beach. All the historic buildings and bunkers are so interesting to see. The grounds are well maintained. Beautiful views all around.
Down at the beach, you will find free, well maintained restrooms. There is plenty of parking with several trails down to the beach.
I really loved it and want to return when I can spend more time at the beach.
There is a historic lighthouse and some charming building.
We saw lots of birds and even some deer grazing on the grass.
I could have spent more time here, but we were just passing through.
It was not very crowded on a June day when I visited.

I had the Lemon Amore and the Key Lime Pie, but the Tiramisu was the real star — absolutely off the chain good! Cameron, our waiter, was super nice and professional, and he was so on point he didn’t even need to write down our orders. Everything came out perfect. The Fountain Cafe in Port Townsend is a cozy, welcoming spot with awesome food.
My husband suggested we try it for our anniversary, and we had a great time. I had the pork chops that were on special for the day, and my husband went for the Chicken Marsala—both were amazing. Cameron, our server, was super helpful in picking our dishes.
The cafe is small, but it didn't feel cramped at all. Whether you're in the mood for a casual brunch or a laid-back meal, it's definitely worth checking out.

We have been out cruising for about three months and wanted to get off the boat and have a meal in a restaurant. We were lucky to find this one. Our waiter, Cameron was fantastic. He helped us with navigating dietary restrictions and also letting us know that portion sizes were ample. He was right! We came home with a ready-made lunch for the next day.
My husband had the Gorgonzola penne and fell in love with the dish. Now I have to figure out a way to re-create it. I had the seared Ahi tuna salad, and it was probably one of the best I’ve had, it did need a bit more dressing, but that could just be my preference. We also had the mushroom appetizer, and if you think there’s going to be a shortage of cheese think again. If anything there might be a little shortage of mushrooms. It was outstanding. Cameron‘s assistance with the wine selection also turned out to be spot on. The bubbly rosé was off the charts, and my husband really liked his Pinot and he’s somewhat of a Pinot snob. Will be back next year or sooner if we’re in the area and highly recommend. It’s small, so make reservations or you may not get in.

This place is fantastic! My wife & I split the Warm Salad & Greek Risotto with lamb - both were wonderful. Portions were generous & the Warm Salad is so creative & delicious. We're visiting from out of town & wish we had as as good as place to go to back home. There are many other dishes that we would like to try but we only had the one night to partake. I highly reccomend this place as THE place to eat when in Port Townsend.

Stopped in here for a quick glass of wine and some oysters after hearing great things about this restaurant. I was seated promptly at the bar. The service was excellent. Located in Uptown Port Townsend, Washington; Finistere has been the to go place for my annual, sometimes biannual visit from the Bay Area. The dinner menu is always interesting, especially with seafood and pasta selections. Scott, one of the owners/partners manages the Bar area and has been hosting almost every night for 7 years. The bar is well attended by Alexander who pours a great drink and keeps the conversations flowing.
The food is locally sourced, there is a nice patio for outdoor seating all year round. It's both a locals place and attracts out of towners from near and far returning for a memorable dining experience.

Well this restaurant may have just ruined every other restaurant I've ever eaten. This was the best meal I've had at a restaurant. We got to sit outside in the sun. We ordered a Spanish rosé it was so good. We also ordered deviled eggs and salmon belly crudo with sourdough bread. The appetizers were absolutely delicious and one of the best things I've ever had. We ordered the Bucatini with shrimp, lemon-thyme cream and leek. Perfectly cooked pasta and shrimp. It was so tasty. The last thing we got was Risotto with nettles, preserved lemon, goat cheese and mint. Truly delicious and amazingly cooked. The service was great and everyone was friendly and professional. I can't even stop talking about how amazing this food was.

Stopped by on a Friday afternoon for Happy-Hour at 3pm; fortunately, we arrived 15 mins early to join the line waiting outside the front door. Those that were not in line had to wait 45 mins for space to be available.
Overall, our happy-hour experience at Finistere was very good. Service was excellent and our dishes were delivered hot to our table as they became ready. Food ranged from good to excellent as follows:
Crispy Fingerlings (pan-fried fingerling potatoes) were served hot with a tasty seasoning. The Chicken Liver Mousse with red onion jam on a thin slice of grilled baguette was nicely presented and was very rich and tasty. The red onion jam was very good and perhaps the only change to be made here would be to not add salt crystals on top – overall was a bit too salty. The thin slice of grilled baguette was perfectly cooked with a drizzle of olive oil and was the perfect platform for the mousse. The fried Washington oysters were good and quite tasty with the calabrian chili aioli and thin slices of fennel. The house-made pasta was served hot and was quite tasty and filling with a house-made tomato-based sauce – my only suggested improvement would be to let the pasta shine through more with just a light coat of sauce accompanied by a small bowl of extra sauce to be added as needed.
Although a bit pricey, we were quite pleased with the food and service at this Port Townsend restaurant and we look forward to returning someday perhaps for dinner.

This was a lovely experience soaking in the 103 degree water. It was hot but not so hot that your skin felt burned as you stepped in. Something I didn't realize until I was sitting in the tub, but this is NOT a jacuzzi tub with nozzles of water to massage you. This is a soaking tub, and there was only one jet in the Ripple room where the water flowed back into the tub. Unfortunately, it was below the intake for the water, so I had to be careful my back didn't block the intake or it made noise.
I was a little worried that the sound of the music would be too loud, but it was actually so soft in the background that I could barely hear it. It was a relaxing instrumental music faintly playing in the background.
A few tips to help your experience:
- You pay before you use the tub, and the machine asks you to tip 10% and on up. If you buy a drink, the tip would go on top of that too.
- you need to shower before you enter the tub so you don't get any lotions or creams in the water. The shower is in the room with bath gel.
- You get a 50 minute session and at 40 minutes after, the bell rings signaling you to get out and to change.
- Bring flip flops if you want. You will need to take off your outdoor shoes at the bench when you walk in. A hair tie or something to keep long hair out of the water is helpful. A comb is nice too. There was a small mirror in the room.
- A bench and hooks to keep your things off the ground
- They do give you a big towel. I saw reviews about how tiny the towel is, so I came prepared with my own towel, but the towel they give you is a standard bath size.
- The two bathrooms are outside in the lobby, so go before you go into your room.
- They offer you a big plastic cup of water, and there are other drinks you can buy
- Open your window before you get in. You do get really hot in the water, and the cool air will be needed. I was getting a bit lightheaded at times.
- The step over the tub rim and into the tub is a big one. There is a rubber mat at the bottom to give you traction and a hand rail on the wall which were super helpful.
- After you are dressed, sit outside on the back deck to cool down.
Overall, it was a good experience and July in Port Townsend when it was in the high 60's and 70's, this was still a good activity to do if your hotel does not have a bathtub.

Easily the best breakfast spot I’ve ever been to! The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. I had the salmon omelet and it was incredible—perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and light but filling at the same time. The portions are generous, the coffee is strong and smooth, and every plate that came out of the kitchen looked just as tempting.

My husband had the Basic Breakfast and I had the Veggie hash with two eggs over easy, basically a deconstructed veggie omelette. It was excellent! Fresh veggies were cooked just right, still with some texture and crunch. Eggs were perfect consistency. Visiting from Seattle and was happy to find such a gem of a place. As an interracial couple in a small town we always judge a places “welcoming” vibes by how we’re welcomed when we walk in. We felt IMMEDIATELY comfortable by the greeting and some of the other customers eating even said hello. This is clearly a “regulars” type of place but with a warm cozy and welcoming vibe. I first encountered Elevated Ice Cream's quaint establishment 6 moons prior to my visit today. In that span of fleeting nycthemerons, I've sampled many of their offerings. Did I mention they give free samples yet?
The folks at Elevated have been slinging their own on-site creations since 1977. According to their website, they started as a vendor in an old Victorian elevator across the street from their current location within the bustling village of Port Townsend.
While they don't have 32 flavors, they do have the classics covered. Familiar tubs of chocolate, strawberry, mint chip, cookies and creme, sit next to a variable assortment of "elevated" things you would never expect to find in a cozy 50s malt shop atmosphere. Curiosities like cardamom, sea foam, and golden milk, to name a few.
Never have I had such luscious and silky confections! But they don't stop at ice cream, shakes, and itallian ice! They operate an adjoining fudge-candy shop which is teeming with modern, homemade, and old timey treats from yesteryear.
I can not suggest this place further for fear of wearing out my typing thumbs or phone screen. So if you have a hankering for something sinfully spectacular, you should swing by. They even have containers of their small batch ice cream ready to go.

This was, hands down, the worst ice cream I’ve ever tasted. It was already melted when I got it — completely unacceptable. Every single flavor was loaded with sickening artificial fragrance — like someone dumped perfume into the mix. It was overly sweet to the point of being nauseating, and there was even a weird bitter aftertaste. The "pecan" didn’t taste like pecan at all, and the "hazelnut" had zero hazelnut flavor — just more fake, chemical flavoring. Nothing tasted natural. I felt sick after just a few bites. It's really got a lot of character. Atmosphere is excellent. The food is for lack of a better term earthy without a punch. Needs some acid to elevate it. Maybe some form of sweetener or vegetables of some kind to really take the food up. Music was terrible, but I loved the open mic night approach. Guy was talented, just terribly off key. Bartender was weak with drinks, but at least they tried to truck you and make the first one good. It did taste good though. The home made tonic was decent, but nothing that great. They get credit where it's due. Prices amazing compared to Tacoma it Seattle and the fight for good food is there. The highlight was the deep fried avocado. The pasta although earthy was really tasty, not overdone. The fish and chips was good in preparation and although not memorable for feeling home made, it is done really well. I may be biased against cheater food with effort put into making it. Something lacking in areas where I come from without paying a hefty price or meager portions.

So if you are interested living here see if the old manager is still there. If there are signs around that say don't come to me with your drama or problems that's probably something you should stay away from as well.

Theres a new manager and he is the nicest guy!! Hes a good judge of character too. So he is not going to play the games the previous guy did. No more setting people up to be evicted. This apt building will no longer bleed seniors into the street.
We finally got a good District Manager, meaning the resident manager finally has accountability. So he's not getting away with much these days. Cameras have been put up, he can no longer pick fights and oust the reactive person.
The DM also sees that maintenance is done. You just have to go over the head of the resident manager to get things done. But at least they're being done now. And he is no longer allowed to discriminate against those who aren't his "special people " described in the one star review below.
The 5 star review was made by one of his "special people ". The one star review is more along the lines of what most people here experience. The difference is night and day. Depends on if you are a game player or not. What color is the tip of your nose?

This apartment building is not well built. The walls are very thin and the outside is not being kept up. Maintenance is not done unless you are one of management's "special people" meaning you go to his church. Mold is now growing because plumbing maintenance is not done on a timely basis. We had been on our boat for about three months and pulled into Port Townsend. We wanted to find a good restaurant so we could be off the boat and we stumbled on this one. Taylor, our waitress, was fantastic. Funny, helpful, and knowledgeable about the food., And that food, the miso black cod is melt in your mouth amazing and the flavors are fantastic. Do wish it had a few more veggies, a bit light in that regard. The special salad was fennel and pee shoots and it too was amazing. A large salad so we split it. I arrived at 5:10 pm (opens at 5:00 pm) without reservations and the hostess asked if I would be done in 2 hours. I said "Yes, in less than 1.5 hours)." She took good care of me even when her station got completely full and she was busy. With the clam chowder plus the fish and chips, I had to take half the fish and chips back with me to the hotel. Fortunately, the Palace hotel has a microwave and refrigerator.

Wow I don't even know where to start. First when walking in this restaurant was the most aesthetically pleasing place ive ever seen. Perfect for instagram. There were even two little stuffed bears that were super cute. Despite coming in at a late hour with a large group of 8, the staff was extremely polite and welcoming. We had the chance of meeting the owner, she was so sweet and kind. Service was top notch and the food was also excellent. Usually when a restaurant passes out bread its cold and stale, however Alchemy exceeded my expectations, the bread was soft and had hints of sweetness and the butter smooth + not heavy. I would recommend the Angel Hair pasta and Lamb Bourguignon as they were delicious. I would refer this place for anyone who decides to visit the town of Port Townsend. Best atmosphere ever!

My husband and I got the breakfast sandwiches and he also picked the scone that people were raving about. It didn't look like how it was drawn, but I don't dock for that. As a coffee person, I appreciated that they don’t try to do espresso. Drip was actually really good for being a place that doesn’t focus on coffee. Great choice whoever made that call.
This is really more of an afternoon high tea spot, so the food is much better than your average coffee shop. So get ready to pay for it, but you get your worth.
My only qualm is that it was only The Beatles playing. Not very patriotic to play a British band on July 4th eh? “Come Together” is their only good song and I stand by that.

I have been wanting to visit Pippa's Real Tea for awhile now and I was not disappointed. They have an large tea selection and I could spend a lot of time smelling the different blends on offer. I ended up trying the scones with clotted cream. If the price may seem a little high for the scone, wait until you try it before making the final judgment. Service was attentive and water was kept filled.
Bathrooms were clean and inside the neat historic building.

The taphouse is located inside Fort Warden state park so I thought that we needed a discover pass to park at the Taphouse. (I was wrong and was corrected below! By the Owner!) You DO NOT need a discovery pass to visit the Taphouse.

I went in to have dinner. I had heard good things about the restaurant, and since I was staying in the park for a month, I hoped it was good so I could visit a few times while here.
I had a service dog and was told that I had to sit outside. I told the manager(?) that she was a service dog. He stated that they "make their own rules". It was too warm for my dog to be comfortable and safe lying on cement for an unknown time. So I left. I returned later with a card to show the ADA. It has both the consumers' and the owners' rights. He refused it and cut me off when I tried to speak. When I told him not to cut me off and pointed out that he had done so previously, he pointed to the door and said, "Thank you, have a nice day." He did that 3 times.
I have sent a note to through the website in hopes of having a educational meeting with the owner or GM. I always try to use these opportunities as chances to educate the public. I'm hoping that they wish to listen.

Every single plate that came out of the kitchen looked out of this world. I wanted to order the entire menu. We enjoyed the Washington Apple Salad, Potato Leek Soup, Tofu Gyros, and the Eggplant Lentil Lasagna. All dishes are unique, fun, and oober flavorful. The beers on tap are local and delicious. We enjoyed the Pilsner and Munk IPA (one of my favorite IPAs I’ve ever tasted) by Port Townsend Brewing. The entire staff is warm, inviting, and answered all our curiosities. We enjoyed our lunch at Tommyknockers. We went here a couple of years ago so had wanted to go back. See the list of awards that this place won in 2024 and this was only half of the awards as there was just as many on the other side of the entrance. The food was all tasty and fresh. We also had enjoyed seeing that other people had ordered. Update: We went back the next day with my husband. I had the lentil lasagna which was excellent. Visited Tommyknocker’s Cornish Pasty in Port Townsend today, November 2, 2025, around 2:30 PM. The place was busy but had such a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive even during the rush.
We ordered the Kids Flatbread Pizza, a Baked Potato (GF), and the Lamb & Mint Pasty—everything was delicious and fresh. The food came out quickly, and the restaurant was very clean and well-organized. You can really taste the quality and care they put into their food.

For me, this is what a Washington winery is all about. They have made the most of an amazing space and will likely improve over time. The tasting room is gorgeous with plenty of indoor seating complimented by an amazing outdoor courtyard. The grounds are spacious and include a pair of double-long bocce ball courts for plenty of fun in the sun.
I found the wine and food menu to be on the pricey side, but this is to be expected in the Port Townsend area and generally in Washington State. They do have a unique and very cool picnic menu with paired wines which I'd like to try out sometime (see pics.) Pick up some stemless glasses for just $4.50, great deal! Everything here is truly top-notch and I can't wait to make another visit.

Absolutely love this place. Went here for the first time today with my boyfriend. We were greeted with a warm smile and wonderful attitude from the staff. After a few samples we had an amazing bottle of wine, and another glass afterwards. The wine was beautifully flavored and a perfect pair with the sunshine. Great ambience and friendly service. There was a craft fair going on with great local artisan goods. The sommelier said the craft fair happens almost quarterly. There was a special for a $5 glass of cider. I purchased a flight of four drinks. If one buys 2 bottles, the price of the flight is waived. I really enjoyed the log cabin cider. Homestead dry was very mild. Not very scrumpy. I went on a limb and tried the Malbec. I don't recommend it. The tempranilllo Port was ok.
