I hiked the North Head Trailhead, which is 3 miles out and back with an average of a 500ft elevation gain. It is a moderate trail, with a lot of increases and decreases along the way. The forest views are stunning and from one vantage you can view the sea. I also did the easy walk out to North Head Lighthouse, and guests can book to stay in one of the former keeper’s residences. I did not get to hike out to Cape Disappointment because parking is very small at the trail head. I think there is another way to access it by trail, but after 4 hours of hiking, I was all set. I would say get there early to park if there is a specific place you want to visit and if you aren’t camping already in the park. I will be back! I have to get to Deadman’s Cove and Cape Disappointment.

There is a whole area on the other side of the campground that seems much quieter....why not put the yurts over there?? I also noticed the RVs are RIGHT on top of each other....so that's no better. Only positives: The yurt itself is very cute, no garbages around and bathrooms are clean. This was our first time at thousand trails n likely our last...we were checking it out to see if we wanted a membership but if this is an accurate sample we are not interested. Relaxing weekend destroyed... UPDATE: they spoke with the noisy campers and found a way to help remedy our situation. Tonight should be much better, thank you for the effort.

It's easy to see how Long Beach got it's name. It's actually not the world's longest beach, despite the claim. That said, it's still a cool beach and worth the visit if you're in the area. If you opt to drive onto the beach, be careful in a 2WD vehicle. I have seen people get stuck before. If you do opt to drive on the beach: AWD/4WD is preferable. Do not use your brakes to stop, as this can cause you to dig into the sand. Go slow and let off the accelerator to slow down.
