Pendo and his amazing team always deliver – friendly, welcoming, and full of energy, they create a fantastic atmosphere every time we visit. I especially love Burger Night – there’s always something new and creative each week. And Pie Night is just as amazing, with different delicious pies every week – real comfort food done properly! Limited but Excellent parking facilities meant this was a good choice for our mobility challenged companions. We had the dog and consequently we were sat towards the back of the building up a couple a steep steps. Not as ideal for my dad… however, he managed. It also meant we were away from the majority of clientele and so the apparent atmosphere was lost on us. Food was great but a couple of the mains were not available and so we had to change our choices. Thoroughly enjoyed what we did have though so everyone was happy! Recommended!

What a grave disappointment. My tea was served in a builders mug with so much milk it took on the appearance of a latte coffee. I took it back into the cafe and asked for a tea with less milk. I was informed that the amount of milk in the tea was dictated by the machine making the tea and could not be changed. I tried to be diplomatic and suggested that some of the milky tea was poured away and the cup topped up up with tea. Simple - no, my tea was partly emptied and the mug handed back without being topped up. Thankfully a woman came from the rear of the premises and topped my tea up. I returned to my table by the riverside and my cake delivered. I was then informed that if I wanted any cutlery I would have to go back into the cafe to get it myself. I shall not be returning.

I received the most thorough response via Facebook confirming the vegan options which was so delightful and further met my expectations when we arrived to see all were labelled with allergens and whether it was vegan or not- which is a massive win! I can’t say how the main-meal food was as I only had a cake, but the cake was the most delicious, light, fluffy and scrumptious cake I’ve had in a while, I’m still thinking of it now! Safe to say I’ll be returning back as quickly as possible. The only thing that I would say was we sat under the marquee and due to the storm it was very blustery, so I think maybe some additional reinforcements on the sides of the marquee to try and attach it better would be pleasant as it did get quite noisy! Not their fault we went in a storm though haha.

Not at all what I was expecting when my partner reminisced about picking strawberries here back in the day. Clearly they have figured out how to run a very successful tourist campground. Very welcoming, great food and the 7 rooms are based on local fruit and veg. We were in 'pear' so had a green theme and the key was a knitted 🍐 The rooms are a good temperature and had all the facilities. TV was huge if you wanted to watch a film during your visit. Downstairs there is fantastic food, good indoor and outdoors seating and a well stocked games room. It's a lovely place but the particular stand-out for me was the staff - super helpful and friendly.
