(The Rajah of Bewdley Kidderminster)
Bewdley。

A five-star culinary journey you’ll never forget!”
If you ever find yourself anywhere near Bewdley, stopping at The Rajah of Bewdley Kidderminster is not just a recommendation it’s a necessity. My family and I recently made a day of it, visiting the West Midlands Safari Park, and on our way home, we treated ourselves to a takeaway from this gem of a restaurant. What followed was one of the most unforgettable dining experiences we’ve had in a long time even from the comfort of our own table at home. From the moment my family walked in to collect our order, we were welcomed with warmth and professionalism. John, the manager, a true gentleman with over four decades in the curry trade, greeted us personally. His knowledge, charm, and passion for hospitality were obvious. He even showed my family their beautifully refurbished dining areas a luxurious ground-floor restaurant and a stunning private room upstairs that can host up to 16 guests. The private space had an elegant, boutique feel perfect for family celebrations or gatherings. That level of thought and detail already set the tone for what was to come.
Starters, We opened with the Samunda Ka Platter, an exquisite trio of Salmon, King Prawn, and Cod Pakoras. Each piece was cooked to perfection golden, crisp, yet meltingly tender inside. The seafood was fresh, lightly spiced, and beautifully balanced. Alongside this was the Raja Royal Platter a carnivore’s dream with Lamb Chops, Sheek Kebab, and Chicken Tikka. The lamb chops were succulent, charred with smoky perfection, the kebabs were juicy and bursting with spice, and the chicken tikka carried that rich depth of marinade that only comes from expertise honed over decades.
Mains, Every dish felt like a story told through spices. The Kala Beef Bhuna, a Bangladeshi classic, was rich, dark, and hearty each mouthful a reminder of the deep roots of traditional cooking. The Railway Lamb with Potatoes Curry was comfort food elevated to artistry: tender lamb, perfectly softened potatoes, and a sauce so moreish we found ourselves scraping our plate clean. The South Indian Garlic Chilli was fiery in the best way possible bold, unapologetic heat that danced with layers of garlic and spice, exactly as we had hoped. And then there was the Bihari Machli Jhul fish curry like no other, delicately spiced yet powerful, showcasing the kitchen’s mastery of balancing flavors without overwhelming the palate.
Accompaniments, No detail was overlooked. The Tarka Dal was fragrant, silky, and comforting the kind of dish that quietly steals the show. The Pilau Rice and Keema Pilau Rice were aromatic and fluffy, each grain separate and infused with just the right amount of seasoning. And the breads oh, the breads! The Keema Cheese Naan was indulgent, rich with perfectly seasoned lamb and molten cheese, while the Garlic Naan was everything a naan should be: soft, pillowy, and dripping with buttery garlic goodness.
Together, this spread was not just dinner. It was an experience, one that transported us far beyond takeaway, into the heart of a restaurant that clearly treasures authenticity, heritage, and passion.
The Legacy, What elevates The Rajah even further is its remarkable history. Established in the 1980s, this is not just a restaurant, it’s a name that has delighted generations for nearly five decades. Under John’s leadership and his exceptional team, the Rajah has been lovingly refurbished and reinvigorated, bringing elegance and refinement to every aspect of the dining journey.
Whether you’re dining in their luxurious new setting or enjoying a takeaway feast at home, The Rajah of Bewdley Kidderminster is more than just a curry house, it’s a celebration of heritage, flavours, and hospitality. Our experience was blown away, and I can say without hesitation: this is a must-visit. If you want to create memories, a fine dine-in experience, a moment to capture down memory lane, GO try Rajah of Bewdley. It's now time for you to create Yours!!!
