The food was amazing however the service could have used a little extra touch. I sat there with no water two times while the server walked by me. I don't feel like I should tip a server for only taking my order. He did check on me once after I got my food but somebody else delivered it. I did however tip him $2 because I didn't want to be completely rude, but I don't think he deserved it and I hope it went to the hostess who did more for me and the food deliverer and cook.

The Avacado toast was amazing. Their biscuit and gravy are great, especially due to their house brand sausage. The breakfast potatoes were the best I have ever had. The staff all around were pleasant, happy, and helpful. The owner is a good man. He opens his place to host a veteran breakfast meeting and offers a military discount. THANKFULLY I got my kids pancakes because even they looked at their plate and said “this is it?” Age 4&7 Add $3 and get them an adult meal because it actually comes with potatoes at least. Even the thought of 3 mini pancakes with no fruit cup or anything seems like a joke of a meal for kids. You must not have kids! Also no coloring or any kids activities while you wait. Not kid friendly here.. on top of that we never got asked for sauces or checked on, but we did get asked if we wanted our check before our food even got to our table! Best paella I’ve had in Texas, and the scallop ceviche is out of this world. Service was attentive, friendly, and quick. The restaurant is family friendly and located across from the creek with a beautiful walking trail. We were able to walk up and get a table for 4 with no wait just before 12pm on a weekday. Everyone was friendly. The atmosphere is nice. We were in the first room to the left. 3 tables of different sizes and a window ac and fan. We were very comfortable. The table cloths add a nice touch and my kids loved the butcher paper to color on. Our server brought out extra papers and crayons while we waited on the food. We ordered from the lunch menu. My kids got burgers with soup for a side (chili and chicken tortilla)…those meals were ok. Chili was lacking ingredients. More volume. The chicken Caesar wrap was mostly lettuce. We did have to ask a few times for water to be refilled so attention to that would be good for future visits. Wed return to try it again. Restrooms were clean. And it was a cute restaurant. It has been a family favorite for years. Recently the portions and quality are really going downhill. This is the second time in a row I have ordered my usual bean cheese and bacon tacos only to get basically empty tortillas with just a smear of beans and cheese. Our group entered, and were greeted by Marco (who was taking orders and manning the register). Marco was very patient with us and gave us our space to review the menu, and also answered our questions as they arose. Our orders covered the spectrum from catfish, chicken fried steak, house salad, and chopped sirloin. Each dish came with a choice of 3 sides. The food was prepared fresh, and ready within 20 minutes. The serving side are sizeable so choose you size of meal accordingly (pony, regular or large). Our orders were regular in size, with good helping of sides (veggies, etc.). Just know the food and sides have a "light" to non-existent seasoning. I expected this is done so that you can salt & pepper to your taste. Veggies are steamed, and I personally recommend requesting your gravy (white or brown) on the side. We enjoyed our visit and experience and hope you will too. July 2025 I was in the Boerne area, and decided I to see if the Hungry Horse restaurant open. Unfortunately they were not. We were able to get last minute reservations on a Friday night for table of two with drinks and appetizers coming within 5 minutes of our initial order. Servers were so well versed on the liquor and spirits with a back-story for their unique options, very cool. We were especially delighted to meet Guy Sanders, the owner of the building, who took us on a tour of the Tavern, the Speakeasy, and the Cork and Keg wine seller/wine bar while we were there. There are SO many wonderful things to say about the Richter! A quick summary: The building has been lovingly restored with impeccable attention to its original history. The furnishings and overall ambience are extremely authentic; when they couldn't get the original pieces, they found extremely close period pieces or reproductions. The bar in the tavern is reminiscent of the huge bar in Cody, WY, and is indeed genuine. The garage doors on the ceiling of the Cork and Keg and the downstairs hallway are from the building's original incarnation as a garage. The original artwork scattered through the building is superb and well-chosen. The overall vibe is extremely welcoming, with large open areas on every level and staff members who are honestly pleased to be of service. The prices for food and drink are quite reasonable, and the menu is eclectic with something for everyone. We unfortunately were only able to enjoy a glass of regional wine while we were there, but it was delicious and perfectly served. And the best part of all is Guy himself. He is friendly and engaging and a consummate host. He has all the stories of the Richter's history, as well as of the town itself. After 10 minutes of talking with him, we felt like we've known him all our lives! He truly loves the building and the town, and his enthusiasm is infectious. We can't wait to return to the Richter! You want high quality pizza, as well as great customer service, go to Stout’s Signature downtown San Antonio. While the initial service was welcoming to my toddler, the experience upon returning was unacceptable. After we had left, I realized we had forgotten my toddler's shoes under the table. When I walked back into the dining area to retrieve them, I overheard several staff members and a couple discussing my family and my child’s behavior. Specifically, I heard a gentleman singing near the bar, some of the waitresses and a woman with her what seemed like new boyfriend at a nearby table engaging in a conversation where they openly criticized my toddler's emotional outburst. While I understand that a child's momentary meltdown can be disruptive, it is completely unprofessional and unacceptable for restaurant staff to engage in, or encourage, conversations with other customers that openly mock or criticize another customer who has just left. This behavior demonstrates a profound lack of respect and professionalism. This is the first 1-star review I have ever left, and it is a direct reflection of the poor value of the meal combined with the unacceptable breach of customer privacy and professional conduct by the staff. I would urge management to re-evaluate their training protocols regarding how staff discuss and handle customer interactions, but the chef himself came out to offer that same couple a sample of what they would be serving at tomorrows event. Mind you, there was another very friendly-looking couple behind them who weren't offered a sample, either. In conclusion, I do not recommend this restaurant. If the restaurant does not wish to accommodate children and the disruptions they may cause, I suggest they clearly define and enforce an adults-only policy rather than allowing their staff to openly criticize paying customers with other customers.

This space is huge and ready to welcome everyone. Bring the kids (there’s an incredible playground just for them) or bring the dogs (they have their own large, fenced in dog park that comes with agility course obstacles so your dog has their own playground!) While we don’t live in Boerne, you could tell this place was a much loved community hang out. They have lots of local beer on tap and great cocktails. We really enjoyed our burgers and wings. Not to mention the amazing staff that are so very attentive. We can’t wait to come back! We visited in winter and they had plenty of heaters that kept us nice and toasty. If you’re coming in the summer though, I saw they had lots of shaded areas. Can’t wait to come back!

I have no problem paying good money for a great product but what I received today was not a great product for top dollar. The only saving grace was the lovely girls working at the checkout counter. The chicken fingers were super fresh, juicy, and perfectly crispy — you can tell they cook everything to order. The Cane’s sauce is still undefeated, I could honestly drink it.
