We were first in the restaurant as it opened and so we received very attentive treatment, but even as it got busier over the next hour the service levels remained perfect from Claire and Charlotte. We were greeted by Julia who was warm, friendly, and authentic. The restaurant is elegant and comfortable . The description of the 4 starters made it difficult to choose between so three of us started by sharing four exquisite starters. The Crab Mille Feuille, Haddock Ravioli, Isle of Wight Tomato Tart and Duck Terrine. The presentation was exquisite, attention to detail superb and tastes phenomenal. For mains, we had Lamb and Beef dishes. Both were perfectly cooked—the lamb tender and flavorful, the beef rich and succulent, showcasing the chef's precise execution. For dessert we had the strawberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Delice. And again we were wowed by them both. 27 Kingsbridge is exceptional. A must-visit for those who appreciate fine dining at its best. Her customer service skills were excellent! She really did go extra mile. I also wanted to thank the chefs for taking food allergies seriously and making dining out with family possible. I am aware how much trouble it is in such busy environment to prepare a meal for a customer with allergies. Thank you! We hadn’t made a reservation and Salcombe was very busy but the staff at the Victoria couldn’t have been more friendly throughout. Nothing was too much trouble. The bar staff were very helpful and even brought our drinks over to our table so I could sit down with my Mother. Our waitress was so helpful too. Highly recommend and so unusual in Salcombe at this time of year to feel so welcomed with all the tourists to accommodate. Food delicious too. Thank you 🙏

The beer garden out the back is gorgeous... one of the best spots in town to relax with a drink on a sunny day. They have undercover and blankets for cooler days. It was absolutely perfect and we couldn't be more grateful. All staff were very helpful, kind and attentive. Food was plentiful and excellent. We were also able to have a bar just for ourselves in the beer garden and able to play our own music. It is also worth mentioning this beer garden in more detail as from the front you wouldn't know. It extends back and upwards with lots of seating both outside and undercover with amazing views of Salcombe harbour. Also has a great play area for kids that a lot of our guests found very handy. If you are thinking of having a function in Salcombe, look no further than Victoria Inn. It is superb.

We have tried most, if not all of their competition in Town and there is no other that can hold a candle to them for; the quality of the service, the food and the value for money. All of the staff are clearly invested in what this pub is aiming to do, and that is to provide a friendly welcome along with great service and great food and drinks. And by the way, the Victoria also provides the best value on the price of their beers, wines and other drinks. There is no doubt that Salcombe is an expensive place to visit, but the Victoria's prices do not make you go 'ouch' when presented with the bill. We’ve been coming here for many years, but right now it’s enjoying a real surge in popularity thanks to its appearance in Netflix’s The Roses starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch. On a sunny day we had to wait a little while, but eventually found a table with a beautiful sea view – dogs welcome everywhere too, which we love. During our three-week holiday we ate here three times: the afternoon barbecue twice and the Po’boy once. All the food was delicious – the peppered steaks were a bit tough and heavy on the spice rub, but on another visit we had the prawns which were, as always, fantastic. On that occasion our order was forgotten, and although the chef had already gone off shift, he ran back through the pouring rain to cook it fresh for us – above and beyond! Multiple sittings, so look lively on the eating front, we just about managed it. Ordered the (Hot) Fruits de Mer for 2, should you decide the same, you do NOT need to order anything else ! Ambiance and Lighting not quite right, front of the bar features what appears to be industrial white lights, whilst the rear of the bar sits in virtual darkness. Only food disappointment was the Bread, if I was a baker visiting a seafood and shellfish cathedral, I would be shocked that the restaurant valued their fresh food, but didn’t value ‘real’ bread. If you want to test if your bread is bread, squash the open crumb with your thumb or forefinger, if the indent bounces back, it’s real bread, if your finger indent remains it’s not a good bread. Was rather confused at the men… fish takes on an Indian/asian cuisine? Have been here before and came back to a very different menu. All in all we ordered starters and mains for the table, which was a great mix of sea food - cold and warm. Food was pleasant and rather tasty, portion size was poor for myself and the 8 guests. For the cost of £22-34 price of main, cheapest being £22 I was disappointed with the portion size. Food was yummy though. Again for the starters £13-£20 for a starter and portion sizes were small, you couldn’t share them. An okay selection of wine. The views looked beautiful, but I guess that’s what you are paying for if you are out on the deck, we were inside so didn’t take in the views. Also to mention the fish and chips was lovely - not in too over powering batter! Bathrooms need updating as rather dirty and old. The restaurant is in a beautiful village and has been well decorated throughout however, this is where the good experience ended for me and my wife for her birthday meal. When we arrived there was no one at the bar to greet us and we had to wait 5 minutes for someone to see to us and take us to our table. On arrival at our table it was not set and I had to ask for the correct tableware after we had been left at our table. Then it took 30 minutes for our order to be taken and then a further 40 minutes for the food to arrive. The food quality was very poor for the price. We paid 59 pounds for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and chips and the steak on the steaks sandwich was very chewy and the fish fingers did not taste fresh on the fish finger one. The food felt innovative and the flavours were lovely and some quite unusual, in a good way! Definitely a nice change to standard British pub/restaurant food. The only thing I'd change is that the tofu in the veggie burger could have had a bit more flavour, the texture was spot on though! The service was great and staff very friendly and genuine. BUT I have to register disappointment at a ludicrous requirement that we sit inside to eat on a beautiful May day when there was space outside, just because there were 12 of us - hence only 4 stars overall and for service which was otherwise great. This approach is ill considered and marred an otherwise great lunch, especially as not mentioned before hand even though we had had to pre-order our food. There is a pub car park if you have driven which is a decent size. The pub is dog friendly, indeed when we are with our 3 dogs it seemed like there were more dogs than people in the pub - great stuff! The menu is good with a decent variety of starters, mains and desserts. There is pub WiFi with the code available on the menu. Inside it’s in the tradition of a typical country pub which is lovely. There is a log fire, a decent bar area, more than adequate seating area and access through to a beer garden. The food was lovely, especially the chips, I had the scampi which was great. For dessert I had the baileys cheesecake which was another hit. Wheelchair access is fine, my mother was in a wheelchair and we had no issues; also means buggies should be okay. Lovely home cooked food, dog friendly and welcoming staff. Food was delicious, perfectly home cooked. My only criticism would be with the curries. Right by the beach and great food. The best breakfast brioche buns with locally sourced sausage and bacon - delicious we had them twice. Tim was a great host. The room was lovely and clean and tidy and very comfy, Tim made up the sofa bed just before we arrived to make it more comfy for two friends staying together. I loved the vintage pieces of furniture, gave the room character. The food was cooked to order, fresh and very tasty. We had a cooked breakfast each morning, a fish and chips one evening and were lucky to be there for the quiz night to taste the delicious curry. The pub is untouched by clinical modernisation and has lots of crazy quirky collections about the pub, I found them interesting and lots of fun. There is a pool table, and out the back a small courtyard. The owner and all his staff we came into contact were lovely and friendly, we felt like we belonged. Popped in today to escape the rain. We were met with a lovely warm welcome, a perfect cup of coffee that stayed hot long enough for us to get to the bottom of it, a whole menu full of delicious Italian style treats that we could have ordered one of everything of AND even a bespoke cheesy pizza style ciabatta for our 8 year old. The food was delicious! My brother and I have severe allergies and the Charleton is amazing at dealing with them, they ensure we eat tasty, flavourful meals which we can safely eat (which sadly is not the norm as 'plain' food is normally the go to). Lou is incredibly kind and so are the rest of the team. By far our favourite dinner we have eaten out in a long time. Would recommend this lively pub to anyone who wants top quality food with a pub atmosphere. Couldn't ask for more. We have eaten in many restaurants in the area and this one is definitely our new favourite. I didn't take any pictures of the main course as it looked so nice we started eating straight away, but I got a few pictures of the puddings which my parents loved.
