They were really good! My son and I got the Forrester Pasta with chicken. We really enjoyed it. I added a salad. It was really fresh with a nice variety of veggies! My husband got the Roasted Half Chicken with mashed potatoes and asparagus. He didn't love his meal. The portion of the sides were small and he said the chicken was not well seasoned. It was clear that everything had been premade way in advance and warmed up. I would have thought being one of the first people seated for dinner the food would have been much fresher. The service was a bit wanting. Although we received everything we ordered quickly, it was as if we were being rushed out of there like we were in a cafeteria that had a huge line out the door. More than half of the tables were empty because it was still early. That didn’t stop our waitress from bringing a dessert menu when we weren’t even halfway done our dinner plates. When we said we weren’t thinking about dessert, she then immediately brought our check to us with still half full plates. It’s best to have a reservation but if you don’t mind waiting, you will get a table. We walked in on a Sunday evening and had to wait about 10 mins at the bar. We were seated soon enough and chose to go for the ala carte. They also had a chef’s tasting menu, jfyi. For the appetiser, we had initially only ordered the potato croquettes, but after the first bite, we decided to go ahead and order the beef tartare as well. 😬 The potato croquettes were flavourful and the beef tartare was soooo good. The combination of the beef tartare paired with the dijon mustard, the baguette, and the sweet pepper was divine!! So delicious!! For entrees, we got the slow roasted chicken and the grilled pork loin. Both were yum — the chicken was tender and tasted simple but soulful and the pork was cooked perfectly and paired very well with the peppers and the sauce. It was such a superb meal — honestly, one of the best I’ve had in a while. It is slightly on the pricier side, but the taste, the ingredients and the whole experience just elevates it and makes it worthwhile. To top it all, their service was top notch. We were seated outside, and as it got darker, the small table light wasn’t enough to see just how undercooked it was until we held it directly under the light and even used a phone flashlight. I cannot believe that they can get away with charging people over $400 for one night and have the room be so outdated and poorly maintained. The trip started out okay - a very nice person checked us in. But that is where things took a downturn. We walked over to the room and the building looked like it had been abandoned for years. The door handle was loose as we tried to get the key to work. As we walked in, the room smelled like it had been locked up for years. The toilet didn't flush, the shower tile was cracked, the furniture looked like it was out of a museum, and the door to the patio had huge gaps in it. If the room had been reasonably priced, I might have overlooked some of these issues. But at over $400 per night, it’s unacceptable. The food at the restaurant was just okay, but the total for two people came out to $70 for two entrees and a basket of stale bread. I’ve never left a hotel in the middle of the night before, but this experience was so disappointing that we had to leave. The food here was amazing! The steaks are on a level that rivals any of the finest steakhouse I've been to. They were cooked to absolute perfection! Tender as could be. The most minimal of pressure required upon the knife to carve it up! So tender it just melted in your mouth! I mean, phenomenal! For one, you can never go wrong with lava cake and two, even though they've become a bit ubiquitous at many restaurants, these were, again, next level like everything else here. If I lived in the area, this would be my go to restaurant if I was looking for a top notch meal or looking to impress someone with my knowledge of the local cuisine! Highly recommend eating here!

At first, I had lunch there. In first thought, seeing the reviews and pulling into the shopping center – I had a feeling it was going to be a little done up and a little fancy.  I walked in and it was totally not like how I expected but there was nothing wrong with that. For lunch, I was able to keep it keto – I had a burger and subbed the buns out and had it on a salad and was satisfied with it.  No complaints, good ground beef patty and it was good.  The service was good, not in your face trying or not absent either – just there and honestly, I think that is the best way for it to be.  On top of things, I had a coffee with lunch and didn’t expect much either but it was brought along in a smaller French press serving and was a good coffee too!  They didn’t sell me, I’m not the type to jump up but I felt satiation. It was enough to curiously bring me to dinner as my coworker had decided to do the taco place (Which from appearance, looked good) but as I said above, I’m on a strict diet.  Again, it isn’t much to walk into but I was sat promptly – the menu was simple but I was able to enjoy dinner and I felt The Butcher Station out on this.  I ordered the half dozen oysters, two different types – they were just spot on and you could easily tell they were quality sourced.  I had the Denver steak that was one of the specials. The seasoning was just right on, I went with the recommended medium rare and while I’m more of a filet fan – I enjoyed it.  Everything was cooked just right with the temperature staying put just about until I finished.  The sides were enjoyable although I wish I could have tried some of ones that were more carb friendly as the mashed potatoes looked delicious and like they put some soul into them.

When we arrived a few minutes before our reservation time slot, every table inside was full and those with reservations had name cards at their table. Ours was nowhere to be seen, and after checking in, waitstaff told us we could sit on the outdoor porch and we’d be brought inside when a table opened up. This never happened, but we decided, no worries, we’ll enjoy our time outside. Server kindly offered us a glass of wine on the house (which we were very grateful for, but did note it was the cheapest wine on the menu), and when asked if there was a different wine I was wanting to try, I was told they were out of the one I wanted. Again, no worries, the glass offered works great. Food was delicious, but portions were definitely small — we even went to another local restaurant after since the meal left much to be desired. Even our server could tell we were frustrated, because after finishing our pasta tasting, she didn’t offer us another dish or dessert, instead asking if we were ready for the bill. None of these issues are dealbreakers individually, but all together, made it a difficult night. I can’t remember her name but our server was super friendly and personable. I had the prime rib with a baked sweet potato and a side salad with buttermilk ranch dressing. We also got a slice of peanut butter and chocolate pecan pie, both of which were delicious. The atmosphere was very cozy and comfortable. We had the Nachos for an app, and they were fantastic. For 2 people I’d go with the small order. I had the Fish and chips and it was right on point. So it was quite a pleasant surprise to find the Doggery while fishing and camping nearby.
