My father's 83rd birthday and he loves fish and chips. Beautiful plaice fillets, deep fried for the right amount of time (light and moist, not firm and dry like most places manage) with a really superb crisp, light batter. The cod was great too, very fresh, and the crevette salad my mum had was first class she reckoned. The chef very kindly made us deep fried gherkins, something they had ten years ago, and they were excellent - he even brought them to us himself. Fantastic service from the two ladies at front of house, they were really great. Absolutely brilliant birthday lunch. Thank you!

We absolutely loved our lunch here and found the staff to be so friendly and had excellent recommendations on what to order. Oysters were huge, so fresh and delicious and the chips were 10/10. It’s a must visit if you’re in Southwold! The one small note from me is that the bathroom facilities left a bit to be desired with only two cubicles which were quite muddy due to the recent weather and one sink which was in high demand for hand washing - a separate hand washing sink outside of the bathroom for after eating would be a lovely touch!

The outdoor raised beds are a delight - filled with flowers, herbs and veg. Wish we'd had warm enough weather to sit outside. It has a charming mix of painted furniture in a bright airy room. The staff are very pleasant and friendly. Not a vroad menu but plenty to deliberate over! We had tge porchetta and the barley orzotto. Absolutely delicious! Gorgeous herbs in the barley meal, very flavoursome. The porchetta just fell apart. Perfect! The tea was excellent 👌 we followed with house made desserts of lemon tart with roasted rhubarb and meringue with cherries and cream. Wanted to lick the plate. Meringue was perfect combo of crispy & chewy. Yummy! Decided to return for breakfast on the day we were leaving. Good decision 👏 smoked salmon with scrambled egg 🥚 😋 so tasty. I'd recommend those place but book as it gets busy especially at lunch. Good value too!

This has to be a unique Cafe, providing the option for tennis and children toys as well as a superb Breakfast. Most of us had the Full English with Double everything. Foods great and my latte was exceptional but everything was soo over priced even with the quality of the ingredients in to consideration. When we were seated we were told that they had ran out of white bread but the description of the wholemeal they had was more or less described as a dream come true. We then had a look at the prices and were debating whether we wanted to stay but we stuck to our guns. I ordered the salmon with poached eggs (pictured) because I'd been on cooked breakfasts all week and fancied something a little healthier. I new I'd be hungry without the extra mushrooms but that came to around £17. My partner had pancakes (pictured). Total bill came to £33. On top of the extortionate pricing they make it very easy to leave a tip at the end when you pay via card. It almost felt somewhat embarrassing to not because I personally love to support small local businesses but when they must already be making around 5-600% profit per menu dish and your waiting half an hour for something to arrive that should only take 10 minutes I find this pretty dis-tasteful. Communication and organization with the orders and the young lad that appeared to be doing prep seemed to be a bit disjointed. Lovely place and I can see why it's highly rated but far too over priced to come back.

We also had sausage baps, the sausages were clearly cooked then reheated, plus I would class them as chipolata size wise. The kitchen is a small section at the back and you can hear the cooking *cough* microwave. There were only 2 other tables who were already sat with their food, but we were left waiting a fair amount of time for the bill. The salad was also quite dried out. I’m not usually picky but the quality just was not great and quite disappointing as we lined this up as our last stop for late breakfast before heading home.

On the day it turned out to be the Southwold Half Marathon so they had just had a really busy patch and that made no difference whatsoever to the service - table was ready, service was attentive, we all got everything we ordered, and the food was excellent, especially the vegan breakfast which was outstanding.
