The food was spectacular. I want to return today to have more. Have made plans to meet another friend there for lunch. Fresh food, fabulous portions. I choose the Feta frittata , with new potatoes and salad. It was spectacular. The salad wasn't just a few leaves but a mixed salad, with carrot, beets, Tom's, cucumber and offered 3 types of dressing. The potatoes were seasoned and warm and the frittata was warm to. Very impressed. My friend had a Prawn and Avocardo sandwich which was stuffed, and a beautiful salad. Coffee was strong and hot.perfect. and they had oat milk. Bonus. And sell Exmoor tea, which I love . The cakes looked amazing, but I couldn't eat any more that Lunch time. Satisfied lunch meal. Lovely friendly staff and owners, They should be proud. Always beautifully presented with it's varying garden "rooms", plenty of seating to take in the differing areas, quiet woodland walk and great lawn vistas. Nearly all the planting is marked up for your information. This has to be worth a 4.5 hour drive rather than than the overrated local Wisley🤬 A place to sit and relax, take in nature and de-stress. Catering is fair to middling, not keen on coffee from take away mugs - all cardboard, no coffee taste☹️ but sandwiches with more filling than bread👍Full marks to all concerned, friendly, informative staff always ready to chat and impart their gardening knowledge. Fist te was for morning tea, they has a lovely selection of cakes to chose from. The only downside is there was no chocolate cake or brownie. The Almond tart I had was delicious. We went for the Sunday lunch and they had a vegan option which was well thought out and absolutely delicious. My husband had the beef roast and said it was cooked to perfection - he described it as better than many places he's deliberately chosen to dine at rather than stumbling in on because it was one of two options available at our location! The children had a sandwich from the cafe as they were being fussy and the staff were fine with them eating the food at our table, which was a relief. One thing that was slightly confusing was that you paid for your meal when you ordered. We'd not realised and, had we known, would have ordered pudding at the same time. As it was, we had to call back the waiter to order the second course. Not a massive issue, just something to be aware of. There was also a mix-up in that I'd ordered a pudding when they'd run out. Being vegan it made everything more complicated, but they ended up getting me a cake from the cafe and refunding the difference. Everyone very pleasant and helpful so it wasn't a big deal. Apparently they've recently reopened and everyone is still getting used to the new system. I got the sense that a lot of the customers weren't happy with it (as they presumed they'd never get their food once they'd paid!) and the staff seemed rushed off their feet and were dealing with a lot of criticism due to it. It's a shame as they were very polite and helpful and doing their best, so hopefully once it's bedded in they'll be given a bit of slack! If we lived locally we'd definitely visit more often (it's only accessible once you've paid for entry to the gardens) but as it is, we'll have to go again in a year or two!

Happened to park right outside, near enough. What a great find! Beautifully decorated with a 1920's theme, with background music to match - not too loud. Lots of little comforts, pictures and paraphernalia to pique your interest. Our toasted panini (we shared) was crisp and delicious with plenty of nicely-dressed salad; tea served in a proper pot. We went today for a Mother’s Day high tea and everything was outstanding. I am dairy free and this was facilitated with excellent options that were tasty and of great quality.
