Thursday dinner stop with my wife and twin ten year old granddaughters.
Ordered two pizzas for the group, the Tasty Taco with home style crust and the Anja with deep dish crust. Everyone loved the Tasty Taco pizza and only the adults loved the Anja.
Tasty Taco with home style crust - easily the best taco pizza we have ever had. Description from the restaurant: salsa sauce covered with seasoned beef, cheddar and mozzarella cheese; baked then topped with lettuce, diced tomatoes, and nacho chips. Extremely flavorful, every bite was terrific. The crust really turns up the taste.
Anja with deep dish crust - an extremely uniquely tasty concoction. Description from the restaurant: German flavored with Canadian bacon, sauerkraut, jalapeños, and pineapple. Weird combo that tastes incredible. Our granddaughters were not big fans, possibly too different for their tastes. My wife and I really appreciated this pizza, so many strong flavors working with each other to make every bite amazing. The deep dish crust is different than the other crusts, it tastes like a speciality bread a person would pay for just to enjoy the taste of the crust. This pizza also had the tomato based sauce that likely is on a majority of their pizzas, it is incredibly flavorful and we would have bought jars of it if it was sold separately. If you are a fan of all of the components that are used in this pizza, give it a try; you’ll likely be pleasantly surprised.
Quick service, restaurant was clean, and employees kept super busy making sure customers had the ideal experience.

Our car had issues while going through town. We needed food within walking distance and we chose to order food to go from here.
Glad we did. The food was done fast, fresh salad fixins with a lot of options. Pleanty of choices. The shrimp fettuccine sauce was fresh and delicious.
Portions were respectable. No complaints.

We had a couple different brisket sandwiches and they were excellent. Best brisket in a long time. We were in a back room since we had a dog with us but enjoyed it. My partner and I stopped here while traveling through Chamberlain on a Friday night around 7:15 PM. Despite how very busy the restaurant was, the experience was excellent from start to finish.
Service & Ambiance
* The hostess was incredibly pleasant and managed to seat us within just 5 minutes, which was impressive given the crowd.
* Our server, Hailey, was phenomenal! She was helpful, had a great attitude, lots of energy, and was very punctual throughout our entire meal. Excellent service is hard to find, and Hailey delivered!
The Food
We were thoroughly impressed with the menu.
* Appetizer: Bayou Shrimp - Excellent! A great way to start the meal.
* Main Course: Bourbon Ribs (Split) - These were absolutely, exceptionally good. The flavor was outstanding, and they were perfectly cooked.
Overall Recommendation
The Smoking Mule is a must-visit. From the genuinely pleasant service to the truly amazing food, they hit all the right notes even on a peak weekend night.
I highly recommend this place! I would love to come back during the day to see the great Missouri River.

If I’m ever passing by here again I will definitely come back here to eat! We had been traveling a long time and we put an order in 10 mins before kitchen closed. They were so kind and accommodating! I ordered the lobster roll and it was AMAZING! Right up there with lobster rolls from Maine, and such a good portion too. My dad ordered the pork nachos and enjoyed them. We sat down to eat in the bar since the restaurant area had closed and the bartender was super helpful and recommended a sample for the beers we had, so glad she did because I got the best one I could have had with my lobster roll, it was a pineapple seltzer. The staff was super nice and even put fun music on for us. Definitely a gem of a place right of the river and worth the 7 min drive right off of 90.

This was our second attempt at The Smoking Mule. They were closed the first time we went (my fault for not checking, but gave us a chance to visit Upper Crust Pizza). Good atmosphere in a cool location near the Missouri River. We sat at the bar which was empty when we arrived but steadily filled up while we were there. We are a fan of Palace City Brewing and enjoyed the opportunity to have the Braying Brown Brew (a Smoking Mule exclusive) along with a few other local beers. I had the brisket burger. The beef was a little dry but otherwise a good burger. My wife had the Lobster and Shrimp Po’ Boy which she enjoyed. The Kick Ass Loaded Beans were good as well. The restaurant had a cool gift shop and all of the staff were friendly. I would definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Kudos to the bartender for taking the time to top off the beers so you're not getting 20% foam. Plus, the selection has some very tasty options.
We didn't love the food. I asked for medium doneness on the burger, but it was over cooked and underseasoned.
My wife got the pulled pork grilled cheese, which had a lot of pork, but it was underseasoned and seemed like it was missing something.
Their fries are great, and the beans they make were tasty. I'd go back for beer and skip the food.

This is the worst place to be. The food was super cold and we asked them to reheat but they just heated the plate and got a new batch. Hence we didn’t ask the other 2 dishes to be heated. Based on other positive reviews, I stopped here in late August 2025 with my family while on vacation. We were not disappointed. Food was great and not expensive. Our server was awesome. Typical small town main Street diner. Basic food options, nothing fancy but exactly what you would expect when you order breakfast. Service was exceptional. We had never been to Chamberlain before and we tried to engage the young lady who was our server in conversation. I got a 4 piece chicken strip basket & it didn’t come with the Texas toast. Usually it does, so I asked the guy running the cash register. He went and checked in the kitchen and said, it only comes with it if you are getting fries & a drink. The chicken strips were hot & fresh, so that was good. The fries were mediocre. Later, I went to order a dipped chocolate cone & a kid’s dish of ice cream. The kids dish was maybe 2 tablespoons. I couldn’t believe how small it was, so I said something to him about it being 2.50 for that. He added some more ice cream. We are on our way back home traveling east with our 2 dogs and found Cedar Shore Resort late last night on Bring Fido website for a great nightly rate. Our room was very clean, the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom and room were very large and had enough space for my husband and me and our 2 large dogs. Our room was really smelly like B.O. the carpet was sticky where your shoes and bare feet would stick to it. There was a lot of humidity and the sheets felt damp. I believe they turn the AC off when the room is not rented but it causes everything to get damp, there was a mildew smell as well. Our bathroom was not cleaned properly smears of bodily fluids and solids were still on the toilet seat of 2 of our 3 rooms. No maintenance was on site so we asked the front desk for rubber gloves and had to do it ourselves. Granted he said he was going to do it for us but he was not really available to come down Right that moment. The shower curtain is too short or mounted too high it comes out of the shower and gets water all over the bathroom floor which may contribute to the moldy mildew smell. The pool area was literally a sauna its self. SUPER HOT!! Patrons had the patio doors cracked open with chairs to help the heat but it did not really help much. My phone actually over heated by being in the pool area. Over all for the price we paid for 3 rooms, the only peak of the stay was the kids loved being in the pool even though they said the water was warm and not cool/ refreshing. The patio area was nice as well. Would be better if they sprayed for ticks/ bugs. Found a few ticks crawling on us out on the patio. Hope they can fix these issues, probably will not be a repeat customer based off this. Beds were EXTREMELY FIRM. but I know some people like that.

Location is cool is the only positive. The room had damp carpet and smelled. The bathroom had mold. The deadbolt that opened to the patio had been busted at one point and the lock on the door to enter the hotel hallway was messed up too like someone forced entry. I am very disjointed in cedar shore. My family and I drove here from iowa all to find out our reservation wasn't going to be honored (I have confirmation e-mail), that the cabins were closed for the season. The hotel gave me a number to call, todd the campground manager. Todd never e-mailed me back, never returned my phone calls. Now we are left scrambling to find a place to stay on opening weekend, looking like we gotta drive home with all our things we bought for our trip!! Thanks alot

1st time to a Taco John's. I tried the new tostada which was excellent. I also had the Bravo I didn't like rhat as much as I thought. I used to love Taco Bell's Double Decker and thought this would be similar but I just didn't like the flavor possibly it was the sauce they use. But I got the meal which came with Potatoe Ole's. Those were delightful. So all and all I would try a Taco John's again. This one the inside was closed during lunch but luckily my RV didn't have issues going through the drive-thru like other restaurants so that worked out.

Nicole Thayer was rude and dismissive. Our family traveled from the badlands and chose your establishment as it was highly recommended to us. We went to order and we got our food and to our surprise we got flour tortillas when we specifically asked and made sure they were corn, due to an allergy. My mother went up there to politely ask to remake only 4 out of the 12 tacos we ordered, and not only did Nicole not let my mother speak, but was extremely rude and used her cashier to be the middle man for her. I went up there to try and de escalate the situation, but to my surprise I was being yelled at right off the bat. I tried to explain we only wanted four because we were hungry and there wasn’t another restaurant where gluten free options were available. Instead of helping with the situation she said there was nothing she could do and then yelled at us until she almost forced us to leave the establishment. To our luck there was an Ex employee in the store who also said he left the store because of her anger issues. I am very disappointed with this interaction, and hope that if we chose to dine at this location again, there will be better management who knows and understands how to sympathize with people and the employees have a healthier work environment.
