Do yourself a favor and hit up The Montford Rooftop Bar! It’s on the 8th floor of the Doubletree Hilton in Asheville, NC, and you just hop on the elevator right outside the hotel’s main entrance. The weather was kinda meh during our visit, but the atmosphere was still awesome. It wasn’t crowded when we went, bc of the weather, but I’d prob make a reservation on a nice day. The staff was super nice, El at the front desk was a gem, and our waiter Ambrose made the night even better with his great service. They’ve got many food options on their seasonal menu, and a variety of drink options. The food was very good, we got the truffle fries, short rib mac and cheese, and a peach ham pistachio flatbread! Also, for it being small plates the portion sizes were great! Can’t wait to go back when the weather’s nicer, but honestly, it’s the Smoky Mountains, so you know how it goes. Completely worth checking out!

Visited about a month ago, I don’t drink alcohol- but the Blueberry Cucumber Smash was absolutely refreshing & tasty! The service was meh, and our server definitely stuck his foot in his mouth when he was talking about my tattoo saying it was a funny joke ( it’s a wheelchair heart) in memory of my brother who passed away. My friend and I came for an appetizer and drinks to celebrate his birthday and check out the rooftop view. We have a lovely time! The drinks were healthy pours and kept us as warm as the flaming heaters strategically spaced. The ham and prosciutto flatbread was superb, had tons of flavor and was perfect for sharing. The Montford has a nice vibe and delivers an authentic chill bar feel. They make great craft cocktails. Stopped in just before closing time for a wind down beverage with friends before heading to the hotel room. Definitely a worthy spot if you on thus side of Asheville or staying at the Doubletree.

We had a large group so we had reservations prior to arrival, while planning my trip Montford was the only place that picked up every time I called. Reserving, changing days, and the headcount never felt like an inconvenience working with them. The drinks were so fun and the food was good! I just wish we had the chance to see the views, but we made reservations too late in the evening- so I will definitely return our next time visiting!

This is our go to as the best rooftop deck in Asheville! Each time we have guests we end the day watching the sun set over the Blue Ridge mountains with wraparound views of our beautiful city. The bartenders are tremendous with cocktails and the menu features a nice mix of tapas style plates to share around while soaking up the scenery. Recently I had an opportunity to take my daughter our for a dad-daughter date and she requested to end the day here. Great service is hard to find and our server Kay was so kind, attentive and absolutely made our day! Thanks Capella team for creating such a great experience. We'll keep coming back!

We went for a night out, cocktails and snacks while listening to the DJ. This is top floor rooftop of the hotel. Large bar area with many sections. Has an outdoor area too but it was raining so it was closed off. Service was excellent - they did a great job serving a table of 10! Kept things flowing and tended to our needs. DJ was spinning some great tunes. He was so gracious to play a couple songs we requested and take a group photo. Go for a cocktail or two and enjoy the scene.

The portions are small (good) so you can dabble around the menu. It’s close to being really good, but every dish is just a little inferior to traditional namesakes. It’s as if the cooking is twice removed?
This will sound harsh, but has the intent of the commentary is to help the location/food prep. The prosciutto toast was too thick and not toasted enough. The beef tartare literally had bagged chips, the tuna carpaccio was either ready made or the chef doesn’t understand the slicing. Two tables around me hated whatever the purple drink was and another was told a drink existed when it did not.
The location (sunset) and decent pricing make up for the above commentary. Did I mention great sunset view?

I brought my husband here for this birthday dinner while we were on vacation. The atmosphere is flattering and the decor is a mix of cozy and modern. We made reservations, which put us on the opposite side of the restaurant that we wanted to sit in (the side with the fire pits), but the hostess was accommodating and allowed us to sit there instead (first come first serve basis). The food was absolutely delicious, but the drinks were not so great. I got a Moscow mule that was less than appetizing and the scallops were very expensive for only 2 scallops on a plate. It appeared that some of the outdoor area was lacking some cleaning, but nonetheless, we loved the views of the mountains and the experience.

Dined here with friends and my husband for my birthday last night. The 3 stars come completely from the AMAZING food. Everything my entire party ate was creative, delicious, and I would come back for the food alone. Special shout out for the chicken wings and the braised short ribs so my immense compliments to the chef.
With that said, I can honestly say the service was comedically bad. Like, the WORST server I feel like I have ever had in my life and I’m not being dramatic. Inattentive, not friendly, had to ask for simple things multiple times. He literally just coasted the entire night. Our server alone almost ruined what still managed to be an amazing night. Honestly, I would have preferred we just served ourselves.

It is tough for my husband and I to give an unbiased review about the Pillar Rooftop Bar. Yes, it is on the rooftop of the Doubletree hotel in Ashville, and yes it has a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and it is tiki themed drinks and food but what makes it truly wonderful and the reason we trekked across downtown Asheville is because it shares our last name. We recommend this place, it is a hidden gem. The outdoor rooftop patio is delightful. When the bartender learned our last name was Pillar, he lightheartly joked, "welcome to your bar." We bought lots of merch.

It is a great place to hang out with friends. The drinks were delicious and creatively themed for the holidays. This was a lovely spot to watch the sunset with a drink and some munchies. My partner and I enjoyed the seasonal decorations and drinks, and the live music was really great!

I recently visited the Pillar Rooftop Bar in the Hilton Downtown Asheville, NC, and overall, I would give it a 4-star rating. The highlight of this bar is definitely its incredible view of downtown Asheville and the breathtaking backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The atmosphere is vibrant, thanks to the live band, full bar, and the stylish arrangement of furniture.
However, I must admit that the food selection left something to be desired. The crabcake, in particular, was a disappointment, especially coming from Maryland where we have high expectations for this dish. Additionally, the BBQ shrimp wrapped in bacon was served cold and covered in a generic brand of BBQ sauce, which was not up to par.
On the bright side, the cocktail menu stole the show. Every drink had a unique and creative theme, making the ordering experience quite enjoyable. It's worth noting that the venue is pet-friendly, which was a pleasant surprise given the upscale decor. However, I did find it lacking in terms of a designated relief area for pets.
One minor drawback is that the immediate view of the downtown skyline is partially obstructed by the Buncombe County Courthouse and City offices. Nonetheless, the overall ambiance of the venue, coupled with the amazing cocktail menu, makes it a must-visit spot in Asheville.
I do plan on returning to Pillar Rooftop Bar to try their main menu, as the staff assured me that it surpasses the quality of their small plates.

Great spot for a meetup with friends for a drink at sunset. The views are impeccable of the skyline and architecture of Asheville. The espresso martini was the best we’ve ever had and the mojito was delicious. However the food was lacking for the price. The empanadas were our favorite. The calamari and paella just fell short unfortunately. Overall the staff was really great and the ambiance was lovely. There was a fire close by to keep us warm from the wind too!

The atmosphere at Hemingway is fantastic, and the location is absolutely amazing. The drinks are top-notch — I had a great time soaking in the vibrant music, lively environment, and wonderful service. I don’t remember the name of my server, but she was truly amazing and made the experience even better.
If you go, don’t miss their Espresso Martini made with Cuban cold brew — it was absolutely perfect.
That said, I can’t give a full five stars because the food was a major letdown. It’s overpriced, lacking in both quality and presentation. The dishes felt hastily put together, and the flavor just wasn’t there.

It is very unclear from the hotel signs how to get here. It’s on the fourth floor, so this is not quite a rooftop view. We got seated in the tables to the right nearest the best view, hopefully due to the fact we had made reservations. They really need high top tables to make the most of the view. Arrived about 7:30 on a Tuesday. So many restaurants here in Asheville aren't even open on Tuesdays. Arrived to host stand and 3 hostesses were working, seated us promptly. Not very busy.We didn't care for our given seat and requested a 2 top tall with a better view. The actions and attitude of the hostess was quite evident, we were a bother. We waited while the table we wanted was cleared. There were about 5 uncleared tables lingering and It wasn't busy. The inside bar/restaurant area was empty and the patio was ½ full. Maybe one of the three hostesses not doing much at the moment could have helped clear tables to make seating more readily available.
I purposefully engaged with the hostess and thanked her for clearing our table. I got zero verbal, and the flat facial "lack of expression" is the perfect reason extremely young entitled people shouldn't be greeting people. Our server Tosh was spot on, courteous, a little nervous, but had a great attitude. Took our drink and appetizer order and checked on us. We ordered the Calimari which came out hot, tasted fresh, and we were pleased. We also ordered the Mahi & Shrimp Ceviche which was disappointing. The mix had great flavors and the shrimp was fresh, but the Mahi was mush telling me it was made earlier in the day, and I would rate a 3/10. Fresher is better. As an entrees we chose to split a Cuban sandwich. I must say the meat was fresh, the bread was fresh, perfectly pressed and cooked. Probably in the Top 3 of the best Cuban sandwich I've ever had eaten. The views were amazing. Fix the attitudes and the uncleared tables and this can be a home run!

The food was exceptional! Don't miss the wings - extra crispy, moist inside, great dipping sauce - - and the garlicky delight in the bottom of the bowl was delicious. The calamari was crispy, but not rubbery - cooked perfectly. Make sure to get some of those cherry peppers on each bite.

Fun mocktails were delicious.
The only downside was service. Our server was slow. Our order was wrong - twice. We had to keep asking for water. Dirty appetizer plates stood stacked and empty on the table even after the entree was delivered.

Went on a Monday evening. Up the stairs into a quaint bar. "Mondays with Rob." Rob, the bartender, was fantastic, with great recommendations and spirits knowledge.
I got a rickey with strawberry and basil and my friend got the sunset as our 1st round. They were both great, complex but with complimentary flavors. We were visiting Asheville for the weekend and decided to stop in for dinner. We started off getting an Italian soda and the house white wined of the night. We ordered a ceasar salad and calamari for appetizers. The drinks and appetizers were great and we were super excited for the rest of the meal.
For entrees, I ordered the duck and my partner ordered the seafood pasta. It took about 45 minutes after we finished our appetizers for our mains to come out. We were very disappointed with the quantity of the entrees. I had ordered the duck medium rare- as all duck should be served- but it came out more on the rare/raw side. I asked our server to have the kitchen cook it a little bit more and when it was brought back it was obvious that it had been microwaved. The fat from the duck had spread to the other parts of the dish. The texture was tough and taste of the duck was entirely different. My partner’s pasta dish was advertised as a fettuccini, but the pasta served was about the thickness of a pappardelle. The seafood was not bad, but the pasta was disappointing.
Overall the service and atmosphere were top tier. Our server was very attentive and music very much fit the vibe of the space. However, the food was not with the $120 we paid for it. They also add in an optional kitchen appreciation fee of 4%, which seems crazy considering the price of the food.

I wanted to update my original review as I had previously rated it 2 stars and was contacted from management asking us to come back and give them another chance. It took about half a year before we circled back and gave it a second chance. This time was a much different experience that was pleasantly surprising. The server was attentive and timely. The food came out very quickly, and this time was actually *hot. The meal was delicious and flavorful this go around. We got the breakfast poutine which was waffle fries smothered in a delicious gravy sauce. The eggs Benedict were delicious and eggs poached to perfection. We were so stuffed we didn’t have the capacity to eat the ricotta pancakes that we inevitably took home to snack on later. The manager was coming by tables and making sure they were being attended to. Overall I’m very pleased with the experience and would recommend.
I actually never make reviews ever. I consider myself a food lover and go out to local restaurants all the time. This is the only experience that made me want to leave a review due to how spectacularly mediocre the entire experience was through and through. The only reason we tried the Social Lounge was because it was on my air pass (coupon book for local restaurants). I love supporting local businesses so My girlfriend and I made a reservation and there were tons of spots available. It took a long time to be served once we were sat and then longer for my latte (10 min) and even longer for the food (40 min). The food was Luke warm at best. We got the Benedict and prosciutto fig omelette. The omelette was downright cold and prosciutto chewy and inedible. The highlight was the grits with added feta. It’s unfair to say it was the worst experience since the server was kind but inattentive. What is absolutely baffling is that it wasn’t busy whatsoever so I’m not sure why everything took so long or why the food was cold. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt it was an off day but any dinner place with weekend brunch is bound to be trouble. For my locals, skip it.

Wonderful place to grab tea, coffee, and pastries! I had a great chai latte and savory danish (tomato and basil, I think) and spent a few hours with my laptop in the incredible pollinator garden in the front. My wife and I had a wonderful evening on a Rooftop Bar Tour. The tour was well organized and executed. The tour director was interesting and well versed in the history of Asheville and in the locations we visited. The bars/restaurants visited are all high end establishments so the drinks and food were excellent. We would love to take another tour with friends or visitors to Asheville. My girlfriends and I took this tour and thought it was great. I do not drink alcohol and was served great mocktails, while my friends do drink and they very much enjoyed their drinks. The bars all had great service and views. It was nice to get right into these bars and have premium seating. Kaye was very knowledgeable about the history of the city. My daughter and I decided at the last minute and we are so glad we did. It was 3 hours filled with Asheville history stories told by a great story teller Tom. First of all the company was so responsive when we were having trouble getting to the pickup location due to Uber issues. When we caught up with the group at the first rooftop bar we met another couple and soon became friends. We had a great time the rest of the evening talking and being entertained by Tom's awesome story telling. We learned so much about the great town of Asheville. The drinks were very good at each stop and of course the views were breathtaking. The sunset was awe-inspiring and Tom took so many pictures to send us later.

There were three conventional food trucks plus an ice cream truck plus two smaller food vendors when I was there. The brisket tacos I had from Smoky Mountain View were great—a hint of sweetness, some spice, and great brisket. The taco shells were also distinctively tasty. Went at 6:00 on a Wednesday. The beer was great, the beer selection was great, the layout and atmosphere are great, and the live music was great!
There's the main brewery building for a calmer, indoor experience.
Then they have The Meadow, a big open grassy area with tables, an outdoor bar, and a stage for the live bands. There are a bunch of volleyball courts and a disc golf course nearby so people are coming and going pretty frequently. In general just a social and busy but still kid-friendly atmosphere. I saw plenty of dogs too!

Enjoyed our tasting experience - it’s pretty informal and free (choice of 4) so between my wife and I, we got to try them all. The spirits feel carefully made - which I see as mostly a good thing. All of the things we tried were remarkably smooth - and I think anyone with any pallet could handle the line without any fear. We like liquor with more pop to it - the navy strength gin fit the bill and we grabbed a bottle of that to go. I really enjoyed the barrel rested gin too - a very unique tasting gin that has been on my mind for two days… I should have grabbed that too.
The shop is really really small so more than 4 people in there is a crowd but they have some cool stuff and we will definitely be back the next time we visit. Thanks for taking care of us.

I typically only drink bourbon and tequila, but my Great Aunt Edith suggested I come do a tour at this distillery when i came to visit. They focus on New World Gin and American Single Malt Whiskey. My party and I decided to stop into Highland Brewing while galavanting in Asheville for some beer tasting. I'm very familiar with their products as several of their offerings are readily available in the greater Nashville area. Oddly enough, the standard version of the Cold Mountain was better than the Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Cold Mountain. The vibe is pretty cool, with a balcony and walk-around area that allows for views down to the first floor. Speaking of the first floor, there are some beers available for purchase along with some merch to the right as you enter the S&W Market. Around the far side of the balcony there is a fair assortment of games available to play. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're looking for beer in a more low-key setting.

Great spot in the heart of downtown AVL. I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon, looking for a relaxing drink and a spot the read a bit. This is on the upper level of a small two-story market with multiple vendors (hot dogs, ice creams, empanadas, etc). The upper level has a nice retail section and plenty of seating overlooking the lower level as well as the main street. I ordered an old fashioned and spent about an hour here. This past Friday DJ David Donald, D&D Productions, Party & Wedding DJ had an event at the Restoration Hotel. Dave had such a good experience there that he insisted we come back for dinner at their rooftop bar, The Observatory Asheville. They have a simple menu, but they do what they do very well. I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, the view overlooking Prichard Park and the Grovepark Inn, and the friendly and attentive service. Chelsea from the bar was also serving tables tonight and she went out of her way to ensure we had great service. The price was way less than I had anticipated.
I started with a dirty vodka martini that was the best I've had in a long time.
Dave ordered the Italian and asked for it hot and pressed. This sandwich comes with quality Italian salamis, sopresetta, calabrese, . (What's the plural of salami?) Ham, provolone, lettuce, red onion... he ordered it without the pepper relish and it was delicious and had a peppery kick even without it.
I had the roasted tomato and basil toasted sandwich on focaccia. It comes dressed with roasted garlic ricotta, basil pistou, pickled onion and arugula. There was a bit of spice and the pickled onions & basil together gave it a lovely bright flavor.
The sandwiches both came with chips that I would have sworn were made in house. I haven't had a good house made chip in a while. Chelsea said no, they are Dirty chips and even brought out the bag to show us the brand so we can get some at home. 😅
I love the rooftop resturant experience, and Dave and I have decided to seek out more good rooftop food. If you have recommendations, we appreciate it!
The Restoration Hotel also has a Crave Dessert bar that we couldn't find, but we stumbled across The Draftsman Asheville bar and lounge on the lower level of the hotel. This is such a cool place with a beautiful bar, some retro video games, skee ball, jenga, and a couple lanes for bowling. I love the vibe here and hope to come back with friends!

I wish I would have braved the cold and walked to one of the local establishments nearby. There was no one present anywhere to take orders for an extensive amount of time (over 15 minutes) and no signage indicating they were gone. When they did come out, it was not addressed in any way. Once the bartender brought out our appetizer they didn't bring napkins or plates. When we asked we were only given napkins. One of our drinks (ordered at same time as one another) came with the food. Had to use napkins as our plates. Just a very odd experience on a very slow night. The bartender was otherwise friendly. the lighting was nice, and if the weather wasn't so cold they have a fun outdoor area to sit at that i imagine would be very enjoyable!

There were maybe 2 other patrons playing pool so not exactly sure why he couldn’t walk over there? I would agree with a previous review that this place is not very Ashville. But it is a nice plave to stop and relax and have some appetizers. I liked the space and the rooftop patio. Good brewery. It wasn't on my list when I came to visit Asheville but it was near my parking on the way to Burial so I added it to my stops. I went around lunch so there was very few people there.
I got a flight of various styles and all of them were very good. They had some nice views from the 3rd floor with an outdoor balcony. There is an elevator and stairs to access it.

Stopped in for a quick drink on a sunny day walking around the South Slope area of downtown Asheville. Excellent brewery with a large downstairs and outdoor upstairs area. Upstairs is covered with nice views of downtown and a little peek of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The beer I had was fresh, tasty and enjoyable. Service was in par with a normal bar/brewery. Definitely a fun spot, especially upstairs on a nice day or evening.

Stopped by early on a Tuesday afternoon. Friendly and polite staff! Great beer. I tried the White and the Pilsner, I enjoyed both but the Pilsner topped it. Hoppy but not bitter, which is what I dislike about IPA's. They do have a few IPA's though if that's your thing!
Seating inside and upstairs, as well as outside on the terrace which is on a street corner with plenty of foot traffic. I'd imagine it'd be pretty nice on a busy weekend night.
Restrooms are upstairs from the bar, which I did find a bit odd, but you do get to peek into the brewing/packaging floor while you go up and down the stairs. There are elevators if needed.
From my weekday experience, I would say it's not worth "seeking out" unless you have heard of them before or really enjoy one of their beers. But it is worth stopping in if you are walking by. I have no idea what it is like on weeknights or weekends, so I won't pretend the early weekday experience is indicative of the whole thing. In my opinion, it could only be better at night or on the weekends!

This is my very first time at Green Man Brewery in Asheville, North Carolina and I absolutely loved it. I have been to almost every brewery in the Asheville area and Archetype was my most recent addition. I really liked how big the parking lot was and the layout of the space. Plenty of seating and a cool rooftop. They even had MarioKart64 available to play!!
It’s cool they work with local restaurants to have food delivered too. The beers I thought were just ok. The nitro porter was nice.
I think this is a good place to come for bigger groups to chill but I won’t come for the beer specifically

I was looking for a place where I could have both Asian food and the typical Asheville brewery experience. Archetype had been on my list to try.
Archetype fits this bill. It is directly adjacent to Gao Shan West and you an order from there and have it dropped off at your table in the taproom.
In terms of beer, I had the Buckingham Malice, Talking to Plants, and False Antagonist. All three were great. The first two being lighter and crushable, and the last being a punch-you-in-the-mouth sour.

Have seen their ads for music referred to as Brazilian Roda for several months now. So I arrived at 6:56 PM for a 7 to 9 PM show. It was deathly quiet and not a musician in sight. I asked the bar tender; he said one just came in now! So an ordered an Octoberfest beer. Very tasty and refreshing! A few other apparent band members arrived and the tuning of instruments ensued. The place is in a hotel. Upon entering, there are clear signs indicating where to go, which is appreciated.
The place is very nice, just like the photos shared by other people. I loved the aesthetics of the place, along with the rooftop, which looks very nice.
Note: I recommend making a reservation, since we had to eat at the bar because they "didn't have any tables," but there were several available the entire time we were there.

Come for good food and a lovely view of the surrounding mountains. Lets start with this is on the top floor of the Embassy Suits Hotel with both inside and outdoor seating. Pizza is the main dish. Absolutely STUNNING decor and rooftop view. There are bench tables, classic tables, and lounge areas for you to enjoy. The florals and umbrellas outside are such a nice addition, and the inside decor is just gorgeous. The service was wonderful and so were the staffs’ recommendations. This place is wonderful! We made reservations for our anniversary and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. It was very low-key with delicious food and a nice mid century atmosphere. The views were STUNNING. They have almost a 360 degree view of the mountains and with huge windows and tables near the windows and on the balcony overlooking the view. We both ordered cocktails that were great and got the burrata cheese, peach and focaccia appetizer- it was amazing! Our server was kind and attentive. We stopped in here for a late dinner to catch the sunset with it's great view and it didn't disappoint. The brussel sprouts were some of the best we've ever had and the pizza was equally delicious. Great views, great food. That’s essentially all you need to know. I feel like Asheville has only been taking advantage of some rooftops more recently, and Soprana probably tops that list. Bar service for the outdoor seating we had, but service was fairly quick for how slammed they were. Great drinks and food menu, we got a mix of red sauce and white sauce pizzas and liked all of them. Good ingredients, nothing boring. Beautiful indoor, spacious outdoors. Finished off with all four flavors of ice cream, a great spot to spend an evening with friends.

Pretty much all the seating is outdoors, but they do have plenty of airflow for the summer and heaters for the winter. Peach pond cake stuffed french toast and plain jane french toast. The plain jane french toast was a thick bread which was nice but overall lacked a bit of flavor. The food here is phenomenal. I did not have to put any salt or pepper on anything to flavor it. The hot sauce that they sell is also really good. We bought two bottles. We got the huevos rancheros, an omelette, shrimp, and grits and a breakfast burrito which was excellent. The iced chai almond milk latte was fabulous. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good food. I wish I could’ve ordered everything on the menu just to taste how delicious they made everything but if I’m ever in Asheville again I will definitely come and try some other items on their menu. The only thing I wish was quicker was the wait time since they don’t let you make any reservations in advance so it was 30 minutes Wait both times we went to the restaurant different days. The whole restaurant staff were all super friendly from the front, taking my information and for a table all the way through the waiter and waitresses that served us.

I wanted to really like this place. It was eclectic and popular for Asheville. We were ready to order when the music became much louder than most restaurants. Anyway, ordering a gluten-free pizza was not a good idea. The cost was 19 dollars, and then they added 5 dollars to that for gluten sensitive crust, plus 2 dollars for each topping. So, to me, that was a bit excessive. It was not a large pizza, and on top of all that, the cooks did not put ingredients to cover the whole pizza. We had the arancini (which was perfectly fried and sitting on a delicious marina), the meatballs (which were very good), and the crunch salad (which was plenty for two to share and was great except for the dressing, which was still tasty but was called a BBQ vinaigrette and didn't seem to have any BBQ notes). The flavor I can only describe as strange. As a vegetarian for over 50 years, I have a lot of worldwide experience with Indian cuisine. My husband and I visited Mayfel’s based on our son’s recommendation. We love New Orleans food and were very excited to try it out! My husband chose the shrimp and grits and I had the Muffaletta sandwich with fried okra and French fries. It was delicious! The shrimp and grits could have used more seasoning to boost the flavor, but it was still very tasty! The Muffaletta was fantastic! I am a huge fan of the Central Grocery Muffaletta in New Orleans, and I must say that the Mayfel’s Muffaletta did not disappoint! It was put in a panini press, so the bread was crisp and warm. So good! The fried okra was fantastic! It was not premade frozen okra, it was homemade delicious! The French fries were also crisp and delicious! We also got 2 beignets to go for dessert. They were very good!
We were there around 2:00pm on a Monday, and finding parking was a bit of an issue since we were not familiar with the area. We ended up at a public parking lot that was only about 2 blocks away. It costs us around $9.00 to park and the payment was done online. There were several homeless people hanging around near the parking area and some along the sidewalk. We would not recommend being out after dark in this area.

This was my favorite food of our Asheville trip! I’m obsessed with eggs Benedict and have had it many places, but their crab cake Benedict is the best I’ve ever had. The macaroni and cheese is also a must if you stop here. I want to come back for the beignets!

Excellent dinner, great location, waitress was awesome & knowledgeable of menu items, great portions, reasonable pricing. All this makes for a repeat visit. Seafood gumbo had tomatoes & corn, not typical but lots of crawfish tails. Seafood etouffee was decent, although the shrimps were a bit undercooked. Chicken pasta special was top notch. Recently had lunch here after having not been here in awhile. I found the menu has changed quite a bit and is condensed from what it used to be. I had a crab cake sandwich and collard greens that were both delicious.
The crab bisque however was extremely thick like the consistency of oatmeal which was very odd. The server assured me that it was how the bisque is made. I was a bit surprised and not sure if that is accurate?
My constructive feedback is that the bisque needs to be thinned out as it was very unappealing with such a thick consistency. I will also add that the out door seating is extremely uncomfortable as the folding chairs give very little back support. Perhaps some different style chairs are needed.
The food was still pretty decent and the service was good. I’d say overall it’s still a great Asheville staple and I will definitely return.

I had an amazing experience - from the moment I walked through the front door (and was greeted by Sean) who could not have been more welcoming - till the very end. That level of friendliness and hospitality was evident in the entire staff I encountered that evening. Special thank you to Jennifer the bartender who kept me entertained while simultaneously whipping up delicious cocktails (along with Madeline and Eddie) during my dinner (I sat at the bar). I had a delicious glass of Hunky Dory (I couldn't resist as a huge Bowie fan) and ordered the mushroom risotto. OMG! That might have been THE BEST risotto I've ever tasted! I topped off the evening with the carrot cake dessert. My compliments to the chef. Everything was superb!
This restaurant should be on your list if you visit Asheville. If I lived in Asheville, I'd probably be dining here on a weekly basis! The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the ambiance is so warm and inviting, the staff is fantastic and the food is off the charts delish!

Jargon is one of our absolute favorite date-night spots in West Asheville, and their new seasonal menu is chef’s kiss! We kicked things off with the blistered local peppers (hello, flavor!) and the flounder crudo, which had these amazing layers that just kept coming with every bite. Total wow moment.
Then came the showstopper: the Sunchoke Ricotta Agnolotti. Brown butter, black trumpet mushrooms, sage, grana padano… it’s basically fall wrapped in a hug. Easily one of the best pasta dishes we’ve ever had.
For mains, we split the pork chop and short rib, both were perfection. The pork chop had that perfect sear and juicy center, and the short rib? Melt-in-your-mouth magic.

Celebrated our 8 year anniversary tonight. The dinner was fantastic and the views amazing. I would’ve given 5 stars all around, but to be quite honest and as it has been mentioned in other reviews. There is absolutely 0 excuse to have to pay $30 to park to eat dinner at one of the restaurants. I called the hotel to make a reservation a couple days in advance for this place. They told me they were sold out. They told me they only had a high top, but this is on the hotel who answered the phone. It was very hard to get through so we made a reservation for the high top, when we got there, we got to the hostess stand for our reservation. They took us to an outside table and the restaurant was empty. It was approximately 6:45 PM. Getting ready to see the sunset was awesome while we had a drink and an appetizer Danny was our waiter, he was superb did not miss a beat and didn’t rush us. We were able to watch the whole sunset and leave by dark food. Check out the pictures. We had an appetizer many drinks which were delicious and the food was outstanding with a great value perception make sure you get the salad with the apples and the spiced walnuts. One of the best salads I ever had, I don’t remember the name of it but it’s worth it. Don’t add anything to it. Share it with somebody. It’s large it was better than dessert. Just kidding.

We made reservations for dinner here so we could see the fireworks show and we were not disappointed. We were sat at 7:30 and stayed well past the fireworks show at 9:30. Our server was attentive and offered great suggestions, and allowed us to enjoy a long dinner and linger well after the fireworks show. The brussel sprouts were delicious and the kale salad was outstanding. My husband enjoyed his bolognese. As a non meat eater, I chose the Korean black rice bowl and it was just ok. Too much soy sauce and not enough mushrooms. The drinks were well made and the gingerbread martini was a perfect dessert to finish off a lovely evening. The fireworks were the best I’ve ever seen and being able to enjoy them from our dinner table was the best part. The only caveat was walking to and from the self parking up and down the hills, especially after a big meal 🤣

Hidden gem bar. One of our favorites! To get to the Belgium bar you meter the facility at street level then by the bar is the staircase to the Belgium bar that is downstairs. Great beer selection and all we tried was delicious. Bartender was great as well.

I came here with my wife for my birthday. We had a reservation so we arrived and got seated immediately. The initial service took a few minutes and the service in general was sporadic. The food took a long time to come out which may have been due to the size of the steak and it was close to closing time. I’d recommend coming a few hours before closing hours. Speaking of the food, the flavors were all very good, although the steak came out medium when we ordered medium rare. They were able to compensate us for the error which was fine. The steak for two on the menu did not have fries but the waiter was able to talk with the chef and make the substitution happen which we were thankful for. We will consider coming here again.

Bull & Beggar is one of my favorite spots to go spoil myself. Last month, I treated myself to the kohlrabi salad and the hanger steak, sitting alone at the bar. I'm glad no one else was with me, or they would have seen me kicking my feet and getting teary-eyed because of how delicious my meal was! Peter's service was fantastic -- friendly, but not interrupting the meal in any way. He made me an excellent beverage, as well! Loved the atmosphere, the ambient lighting, and getting to watch the kitchen at work. This is my second time getting the kohlrabi, it is so simple and so clean. You can really tell that the menu is designed by people who care about food, and it changes regularly!
Any time I've had an issue (only once!), I've spoken with staff and they have courteously corrected. Very impressed by this restaurant and happy to see it thriving post-Helene. It's best to make a reservation, but they do take walk-ins whenever possible.

Had an insanely great experience starting from when I walked into the door. The ambiance and smells invite you in. Shannon was our server and she was so pleasant, attentive, and filled with knowledge. We started with the pumpkin toast and there’s just so much flavor it’s hard to describe but it was amazing. The menu changes frequently, which is a good thing. I had the 10 oz onglet, a hanger steak it came with fries there was no option for a side salad. The cheapest salad was $14. And there were no vegetable sides you could have gotten without spending $19 or $20, which I find ridiculous. The steak was not seasoned well to my taste. They maybe threw a little salt and pepper on it or something, but it was really just meat with very little seasoning. I had two pieces of steak. I ate one of them which was okay. It really desperately needed more seasoning or some sauce or something. But of course, if you fancy yourself a fancy restaurant, you don't have sauces. I took the other half of the steak home to my regret. It was really a bad piece of meat and I will include pictures. Also had the oysters on a half shell. They were delicious, small Eastern type. I would be really careful going there. Maybe look at something other than the steaks.
The interior was really done nicely. And the bar area was filled with people eating oysters on the half shell. It was a half price night on oysters. I would go back, but I would certainly find a dish that came with a little potato or rice, green bean, something to make a more rounded meal. If you're spending that much money, you might as well have a full meal.

Our friends took us here for dinner our first night in Asheville! The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. Love all the exposed brick. Our serve was super friendly and gave us recommendations. The location is not the greatest because parking is best in the city parking garage about a 5 minute walk with some steep inclines and the persons in the area seemed to like to smoke near the patio entrance.
We drove from Greenville, SC thinking this would be a great place for lunch on our 54 wedding anniversary. We feel we should have chosen a more formal restaurant.
By the way, they have a good choice of vegan deserts. We liked the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars. We don't know about the others, but there were some cakes that looked good.

Loved this funky and cute vegan restaurant! The food was really good as well as the service. I had the avocado and tofu sandwich on sourdough with coleslaw as well as the cauliflower wings (must try!) I ended up going back and ordering their vegan desserts and they were delicious! Slice of heaven in historic downtown Asheville!
Such a pleasant find as we walked the downtown streets on a Sunday afternoon. As we passed a sidewalk art fair we saw the outside umbrellas and the pillow filled outdoor furniture and beautiful guitar and Ellie e samble playing on the outdoor patio.
We venture in to find a very calming darkish old world book store with multiple levels and a humming vibe of book enthusiasts and those here to have lunch and a cocktail.
We sat on the wonderfullly relaxing patio and ordered wine by the glass and a plentiful charcuterie board filled with cheeses, salami, olives, nuts, spreads and finger breads.
An absolutely beautiful afternoon.

They also had some workshops related to the exhibits so I would suggest checking their event calendar if you're interested. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Asheville is world renowned for it’s art, artists, and artistic sensibilities. We naturally therefore visited the Asheville Art Museum with high hopes. Located in the heart of downtown in a beautifully designed building, which is itself a work of art, parking is as expected for the downtown Asheville, or any other moderately sized cities’ downtown area. It’s not difficult but it’s not easy by any stretch. Thankfully downtown Asheville is very walkable and there are several parking options within half a mile of the museum.
The museum staff and docents are friendly and subdued. $20 per adult did not initially seem a steep price for admission, but we were admittedly underwhelmed by the scope and collection of art on display at the museum. Galleries totaling probably less than 5,000 square feet spread across three stories highlight Asheville and Western North Carolina artists primarily, with a varied collection of art mediums and eras. There are lovely oil on canvas, native sculptures of first nations tribes in the area, and an interesting exhibit on Asheville architecture on display during our visit (October 2025), but still the museum felt lacking. We expected significantly more in terms of the collection size and scope, and it appeared that while the building was large on the outside, the majority of the interior was utilized for offices, classrooms, and non-public areas

My husband and I held our wedding welcome party on the roof of the Asheville Art Museum at the start of September. We love the museum and make a point to visit each time we're in Asheville! It's small and quick, but the art is lovely, and we especially love to see the rotating exhibit on the first floor. To us, it was a no-brainer to have our guests pay it a visit as well.
The events team at the museum is AMAZING! They answered every question and every email quickly and calmly, and Neil was SO helpful on the day of the party! The cutest coffee and more cafe. Whether you prefer hot of iced coffee, it is good coffee. The salad was so fresh & delicious. They offer both breakfast & lunch items. They also have a nice selection of baked goods. You order at the counter, get a number, find a seat inside or at one of the two different side patios and they bring your food to you. Definitely on the list of must visit at least once, the menu is somewhat limited but appears to change often, and has a variety of choices. Very interesting twists on classic dishes, such as pancakes that are exceptional. We didn't find basic, standard breakfast fare on the menu. The restaurant is in a neighborhood setting in what appears to be a former residence. There was a healthy line out front to place your food order. This is done at the counter as soon as you enter. Seating is to either side. Portions are large, and we left more than full. This might be a place choose when looking for nice atmosphere with out of town friends to share a liesurely meal. Very dog friendly, as is much of Asheville.

Really good food and coffee. I had the duck hash bowl. Very tasty and flavorful. My girlfriend got the sourdough pancake and it was kinda underwhelming. It almost seemed raw in the middle. The hot lattes were great.
We went on a Saturday morning and had to wait nearly 30 minutes just to order our food. The majority of that wait was outside in the cold. Most of the available seating is outside as well so bring a jacket.

We threw a party for my husband’s birthday at Bear’s and had them cater it. They did such a wonderful job from start to finish! Their catering coordinators were great to work with beforehand. Then at the party Bev was incredible, helped with everything, kept the buffet stocked, stayed on top of timing and made sure we had everything we needed. The manager was so nice checking in on us a few times and helping out with the party. The private patio was the perfect spot for 20-30 people, and close to the bar and bathrooms. Everyone had a blast and the food was delicious as always!

This was a fun barbecue place on the slope side of town. I would like to say the barbecue is the best that I’ve ever had but it is not it was not awful, just OK. There are plenty of sides to choose from in the sweet sauce was very delicious. The outdoor area where you sit is fun with plenty of kids games adult games. They also had a blues duo playing which was quite nice. I had the pulled chicken with potato salad and mac & cheese. The potato salad was really tasty the mac & cheese, not so much. We also had the Bears Mac attack with brisket, which was OK.

A "happy accident" happened today. My order from Uber Eats ended up at the wrong house and I eneded up with thier order. This order was a one meat meal (chopped meat) beans ( very good with a few burnt ends stepping the taste up) and mashed sweet potatoes( these probably needed a little more salt to bring forth the spices, but still complemented the meal). The order also had some sticky ribs that was ON POINT. Meat falling right off the bone with a slight tug from a bite. Just right! The cheese curds were another part of the order and they had a little spicy kick. Not to bad! I would definitely order the ribs, chopped pork, beans and sweet potatoes when I go back:) OH! Went in to kill time before my flight with a Brandon Sanderson novel, fully intending to keep to myself, and the bar tender/owner has such good rapport with both the customers and his coworkers/staff that it was really hard to focus on reading! And I’m usually hesitant to order cocktails in new spots as everyone fancy themselves mixologists these days but I went out on a limb and I’m so glad I did! Best cocktail I’ve had possibly ever. I will recommend stopping in at this bar to any friend going to Asheville!
I also really loved that the skeleton overlooking the entire bar had evoked the essence of the skeleton in “The Last Unicorn”! ☺️

I literally never heard a full string of lyrics from the artist. It was very oversold and completely unpleasant to be in the crowd. The back is delightful and has decent seating options. This place used to be fantastic. They made the best pastrami sandwich my girlfriend and I had ever had by a mile, with grass-fed beef and owl bread. It was our shortlist of must-haves in Asheville.
Now their menu has completely changed and they’ve significantly regressed. No more pastrami sandwich, no more grass-fed beef, and they’re now using basic food service bread instead of owl.
I’d come back and update my review if they add back the pastrami sandwich with the grass-fed beef and owl bread and reinstate the same bar for quality that they used to have. Otherwise, I unfortunately won’t be returning 😕

My wife and I were looking to duck into a vineyard to do a bit of wine tasting and ended up here thanks to Google Maps. The vibe of the place was perfect. Cool but not so cool that it brought back my dorky high school years.
We ended up getting the Red Wine Flight, Experimental Wine Flight, and the White Wine Flight.
The guy running the bar was really knowledgeable and walked us through each one. The reds were really good. One of the experimental was really good (we bought a bottle) and the other two were kind of meh. And the whites were good considering I don’t really love whites but wanted to drink more.
As an added bonus, there was an empty peaches box in the parking lot so we got to sing the Mario Bros. Peaches song after drinking all that wine.

The atmosphere was really nice. I loved the decor inside. It's a modern industrial type vibe. There's tables and also sitting areas with sofas to choose from. We saw people ordering pizza which is a nice touch. We did not try the pizza. However, we did try the wine flights. The set up was cute, but that's about it. We did not enjoy the taste at all. Every wine was super dry, even the whites. I prefer a sweeter wine, but even my niece that loves dry red said she didn't enjoy these. The overall look was nice but we will not be back. Oh, and they could pave the parking lot. Jumping over muddy puddles was not it.

Great Wine Selection/Vibe, Service and RAD Food Truck was excellent for Cabrese salad, charcuterie board and similar items reasonably priced… great place to enjoy some local wine hang out with friends in a more quiet urban setting. Parking everything was no stress. We really enjoyed our time here!! And they are dog friendly so a few of us brought our dogs.

I'm giving this winery a 4 out of 5 stars only because ots a dry wine only winery. We prefer sweet wines. But we liked the place and staff so much we stayed and gave it a try. We found wines and a cider that we were able to drink. The flights are super cute. The art is amazing. The atmosphere is electric yet relaxing.

Wine, cheese, and dogs... What more could you ask for!? Wine outside of California can be questionable, but this wine was REALLY good! I am not even a huge fan of Rose, but theirs was really good. We did Foundry flight and I loved all the wines. The cheese plate from South Slope Cheese was excellent, I almost ordered another box. It's also dog friendly and there is plenty of space to hang out both inside and out.
