The night started with the waiter & bar-chef refusing to offer a taste of the house wine (we were already seated and the house wine was already opened). A spanish-speaking gentleman at a neighbouring table had taken notice and had to explain to the waiter that this is something that is done everywhere. Reluctantly the waiter came back with a taste of the wine but without a word or a smile. We were already about to leave at that point but decided to give the oaxacan food menu a taste first, as this was what initially drew us to the place. The food was indeed good so we decided to stay, but not once during the rest of the night did the waiter share a smile or do anything other than taking orders when asked to come. To say that he didnt seem to understand his role in bringing some good energy is an understatement. When we finally asked for the bill we noticed that we had been charged 3 courses we didnt take. Once the waiter came back with the correct bill he didnt even say sorry - just looked irritated as the rest of the evening and put the bill in the middle of the table seemingly making a statement of sorts. Worth noting is that we love connecting with restaurant staff, and during our 6 weeks in Mexico never once came close to service this bad. The chefs in the kitchen really deserves better front runners than this as the food was very good, especially the roasted broccoli and the artichoke.
