Yeosu

Yeosu is a port city on South Korea’s East China Sea coast. A breakwater links the port to Odongdo Island, home to red camellia blossoms and a lighthouse with an observatory. On Dolsando Island, Dolsan Park has views of Dolsandaegyo Bridge. It also has the Maritime and Fisheries Science Museum, with an aquarium of turtles. At the island's southern tip is the clifftop Hyangiram Hermitage, an ancient Buddhist temple.

Yeosu Cable Car Dolsan Station is a popular attraction in Yeosu, South Korea, offering stunning panoramic views of the city's coastline, mountains, and islands. The cable car connects the mainland and Dolsan Island, providing breathtaking vistas of the ocean and surrounding landscapes. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience as they ride from Dolsan Park to Dolsan Island, taking in the beauty of the area.
If you wanna experience the vibrant southern city life in Korea, you should make a plan to visit here. I strongly recommend to all of you. I love it even I was born in Korea, this trip is my first visit here.

A must do if you are visiting Yeosu. You will have a great view both day and night.
Kent M — Google review
This is the best cable car I've ridden recently! It crosses over the sea with a clear glass floor, offering stunning views. I also loved that they played music during the ride — it made the experience even more enjoyable.
Grace O — Google review
Awesome attraction that takes you from one side of Yeosu over a tall hill to the main port. Views are fantastic from the car. You have a choice of a glass bottom one for a bit more or the standard car to cross over. Very reasonably priced and the wait time to board is very well managed. It is probably the #1 thing to do when in Yeosu.
Rick K — Google review
This was worth the ride! Also, the hearts temple near the entrance was a fun place to see and take photos!
Tracey E — Google review
A great way to see Yeosu, South Korea at night, but don’t go there too late since it will be too dark to see the scenic ocean and surrounding. Also, think about if you want to do a round trip ride, which we eventually decided wasn’t worth. Buying tickets at the kiosk was easy and quite affordable at this popular touristy landmark. A lot to see across the other side and a couple of places to get drinks and take selfies. We got there around 7:00~7:30 pm, but wished we arrived there a bit earlier… couldn’t see much when it got too dark. Overall, a nice experience on a cable car over Yeosu.
Luke H — Google review
The view night is fantastic All of Yeo-su city is bright and shining. I would like to recommend for all of the couples. After dinner the best place for picnic.
Ty A — Google review
It was during weekdays, so we did not have to wait for cable cars. But on the way back, there was line up of people waiting to ride back from the island. Overall, it was short and sweet, especially because we rode it at the time of sunset and twilight. It was beautiful day.

Zoo
Aqua Planet Yeosu, established by Hanwha Group during the 2012 Yeosu World Expo, is a massive aquarium covering an area of 16,400 square meters with a 6,000t-class aquarium. It is the largest in Korea and features big fish and shark tanks, beluga whale shows, feeding demonstrations, and touch pools.
This place my husband took me on a date. I felt that we had a lot of fun that day. There were many interesting animals. That's what made us talk more because we shared more knowledge about animals. We were always excited to be here. I hope I will have time to visit again.😍
S. R — Google review
Its a very interesting place to visit. The big O show was very impressive. The show needs reservation and held at night time. It is visible from far distance also. The Aqua planet includes aqua museum, sports activities, etc. I could only visit big O show so next time I definitely visit the entire Aqua planet.
Neha B — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised with this place - a lot to see and do in this aquarium. Not only sea life, but also forest, interactive exhibits etc. definitely worth the price and it was a highlight of the Yeosu visit. It’s also walking distance from the cruise port ( if u arrive on the ship).
Yulia T — Google review
Very well managed aquarium. The price is not too expensive. Don’t need any reservation. We came to see the Beluga, so sad that it’s confined in a small pool. But it’s a gift from the Russian government. The big central fish tank has many different type of fish, ray and sharks. Also a few large sea turtle, quite well maintained. The animals seemed very healthy.
Sibyl T — Google review
I've been to quite a few aquariums all over the world, and Aqua Planet definitely stuck out as a very unique experience. I really enjoyed my afternoon here. ☺️
Abbey B — Google review
It’s ok with kids. We loved their various sealife .
Connie P — Google review
The entrance fee is 59,000 won but there was a special promotion going on for couples and it only cost 49,000. But for that price it was very well worth it. The different sections of aquarium and the different shows as well as the decoration/lay out was very well designed. Overall the price does seem to justify if you do take your time and enjoy everything it has to offer. Also a new baby turtle was born and it was only 78 days old when we went! So that was extremely cute.
Chris J — Google review
This Hanwha aqua planet offers a delightful blend of visual appeal and education. The friendly staff enhances the overall experience. Highly recommended for a memorable visit!

Yi Sun-Sin Square in Yeosu, South Korea, is a popular tourist destination that pays tribute to the legendary naval commander Admiral Yi Sun-sin. The square features a statue of Yi Sun-sin and his famous Turtle Ship, offering visitors an opportunity to learn about his heroic achievements. Situated near the coast, the square provides stunning views of the sea and serves as an ideal location to relax and appreciate the natural beauty of Yeosu.
Deducted tourist area to recognize the hero Admiral Yi who defeated the huge Japanese Navy with cunning, knowledge of local sea currents, and superior intelligence when the odds were against his smaller naval forces. The replica turtle boat is interesting and fascinating at the same time. Many famous restaurants and confectioners near the center. A must visit if you are in Yeosu.
Rick K — Google review
In remembrance of their great Admiral, they built this square with his tall statue at the centre, the turtle ship near the bank and a museum also nearby. The courage of the admiral is admiring.
Tech T — Google review
It's not as interesting as I thought. Maybe it's because it's not the holiday season and weekend, but it seemed too leisurely. Historical relics and exhibitions about Yi Sun-sin are too poor around him. Even if there is nothing special to see, there is nothing too much.
Pure — Google review
A spacious plaza, but the overwhelming fishy smell is everywhere. Nearby shops have marked up their prices excessively, and only two places draw continuous crowds thanks to heavy marketing. The lines move slowly, so if there’s a similar menu nearby, you’re better off enjoying a meal there instead😁😋
Scarlett W — Google review
A very entertaining place. It is centre of market area. When I visited, there was preparation of night market and music, dance performances going on. It is near the port area. A fish market also held there. The place is full of beautiful coffee shops, and restaurants. A big old wooden ship of war time called war museum also kept at this place. One of the best place to click pictures.
Neha B — Google review
Good to visit general Yi Sun-Sin square and park. They have variety of stores and restaurants around the area.

A nice open area surrounded by Strawberry mochi shops, cafes and restaurants as well as some historical features (statue, famous turtle ship that you can walk in at certain jours of the day) I thought I had more pictures but I only got those :/

The Yeosu Ocean Rail Bike offers an unforgettable adventure along a stunning 3.5-kilometer track that hugs the beautiful coastline of Yeosu, South Korea. As you pedal your way through this unique experience, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding landscapes. The route features charming tunnels and bridges, allowing riders to soak in the refreshing sea breeze while enjoying a leisurely ride with friends or family.
Very cool experience! The views of the bay are amazing and there are a ton of fun lights as you traverse the tunnel. Everyone was very nice, I'd highly recommend if you are with friends or family. The rail cars have four seats but it's easy to pedal with just one or two people.
Jason B — Google review
It was alright and could have been better if the lights in the tunnel were properly maintained. The ride on its own was a fun activity for our family of 4 (two kids), view along the coast was exceptional. It can get quite cold in the winter, having a pair of gloves and warm clothing will be good. There's a photographer who will take pictures for KRW15,000 and it comes with a lovely frame.
Sherri C — Google review
Its an different experience, \You must try this when you are in Yeosu. Nice travel along the sea side and exciting, we have to drive by our self. If you are going with family you will have a nice experience.
Muthukumar T — Google review
I suggest going early so you don't have any obstruction of view front and back for taking photos or video, I went at 10am and the view was great, perfect for taking photos and taking your time enjoying the ride 😀
Shin L — Google review
Fun little bike rail. It's not difficult at all but if you're worried the way back is slightly uphill so its naturally harder than the first half. The views are really nice and the tunnel is fun as well. There's some concern with the people in front and behind you if it is busy but really everyone is going g around the same pace so don't worry if you have someone coming up behind you and if you're rolling up on someone just take it easy.
N B — Google review
Nice and great! We took a cab over and the cab driver gave us a 20percent discount coupon for the railbike which we used (20,800 won after discount for 2 pax bike). There is infact no time period for the railbike. Anytime you are ready, you can go off. It was about a 30 min ride but you can go longer if there is no rider behind you. As you ride, you enjoy the sea view and there is also a tunnel path with some neon lightings. We had such a great time there!
W T — Google review
If you ride it with your kids. It is totally safe. It is exactly by the sea. The great view~of course.

Flea & Street Markets
Yeosu Fish Market holds historical significance as the birthplace of the famous 'Geobukseon' and offers an array of fresh seafood. Visitors can enjoy a variety of sashimi at lower prices compared to restaurants, accompanied by a refreshing sip of beer. The market allows patrons to select their seafood from the first floor and have it cooked at a restaurant on the second floor. While language barriers may exist, communication is facilitated through gestures, calculators, and translation tools.
Got our shellfish from a nice lady on the main floor...prices are reasonable and she gave us some extra too. Went up to the 2nd floor and they prepared the shellfish for us. Very good~~ so much better than the pocha restaurants. Better price and much fresh than pocha restaurants. You can get live octopus and other fishes. We had enough octopus. Great experience and would definitely recommended it. 👍😋❤️
Danny K — Google review
Many fresh seafood there, but I don't like Korean way to cook seafood, and upstair restaurant do not provide any food out of grilled fish, so not eat there
Ricky C — Google review
We went there cause we saw online there was a possibility to eat in the market. It is true!!!! You choose the fish and the seafood you want downstairs and you bring it up to be cooked. Wow the sashimi and no words about the huge clams. They don’t waste anything, they made us a soup with the bones of the fish! We had a wonderful woman that spoke english there to help us! but everyone is very nice, they won’t have a problem with the translator. DEFINITELY a must try in Yeosu!!!!!!
Alejandra M — Google review
Great selection of any kind of fish and sea food. Dried, fresh, raw, life - anything you wish. Prices are mostly also attractive.
Stanislavs M — Google review
Ate here yesterday: fish and sides were delicious. Ice cold soju, Charm Fresh. The fish tanks are as seen in the photos posted by others; yes, they do NOT hawk at you (which makes no difference to us). The choices of fish and sea creatures is the same as in Busan or in Pohang or other markets in seaside towns. The preparations and dining are upstairs in separate smallish dining rooms (the fish vendor links you to the dining room they partner with by number (1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or so on). The presentations are like other fish markets I mentioned; the tastes are about the same. The spicy fish stew here was good: the fish seller left a little more meat on the bones so that the stew actually had some fish in it (usually it almost all just bones). The side dishes and prep charged 5,000KRW per person on 25 FEB 2024. Spicy fish stew was 10,000; Soju was 5,000 per bottle; Rice is 1,000 per person. These things are increasing in cost at all the fish markets since COVID diminished. The upstairs dining rooms are quiet, almost boring, compared to the tables on the market floor level at Pohang and Tongyeong fish markets, but they are nicer for family dinners and conversation without shouting. I think at these fish markets people need to understand that the old prices are not coming back: my companions kept saying it was expensive. If you go for fresh sashimi or Korean beef in good restaurants then you should just understand that its expensive and disregard worrying your brain over the price: its the experience that we go for. Otherwise, just go get jiegae and bap and some local shop and take pleasure in having kept your money in your pocket.
Ger T — Google review
Good we just shipped some fish and food two large box about 70 pounds and they wrapped and iced and it was only 30000 won to Seoul
Lyle G — Google review
I bought some gifts to bring back to Seoul to give to my family and my mother-in-law praised the cheap price. This is the second time visiting the market. This market does not haggle, if you want to buy something, pay in cash and the stall owners will give you a discount. It's quite easy to buy.

cheap
This is it, folks!!! Wow, wow, and wow! During this trip, I was so lucky to find so many great restaurants in Korea. This restaurant will probably rank at the top. It is so cheap! Less than $10 per person, you get everything. I mean everything! If you want an authentic Korean meal and don't want to pay hundreds of dollars at the upscale restaurants, this is your option. This was our second stop in Yeo-Su, Korea (first stop was our hotel). My two US born children also loved the quality of the food. Arrive in a taxi because you won't find any parking nearby. Make sure you come hungry because they will give you a lot of food. My wife and I felt guilty leaving so much food at the end, but we couldn't eat anymore 😪. The owner was so kind and would kepr bringing you more food. The restaurant is very old but you will love the vibe there. Kind of old open market feel but very clean. I hope you guys have as much satisfaction as I did! Caution, arrive before 5 45pm. They will run out of food often, and you won't make it in.

8000 won per pax. It's an all you can eat restaurant. There are 3 varieties of crab, octopus, spicy pork, veg etc. We had a great meal and the owner was also kind to help us refill our spicy pork!
Winter T — Google review
Great local food. If you are in the are, definitely pay a visit to this place!
Jiri K — Google review
Despite it's run down look, it's one of those mom-and-pop places that attracts local elders and young tourists alike. For 10,000 KRW, you get a variety of delicious side dishes, spicy pork, and crabs! Their pickled garlic, sesame leaves are especially my favorite. Very popular, so there will be a line in front of the restaurant.
Kanna O — Google review
Best of the best in my lifetime ever. I highly recommend here to visit for anyone. Owner is really super kind and accepts me even though i was alone. At lunch time, it only offer '정식', which is basic Korean meal set. It includes a lot of crabs, I think it was like an unlimited dish served in any other buffet. Very delicious and cheap as well~♡ I will visit there again definitely, with a lot of company.
JH K — Google review
This place is so awesome! The different sorts of crab (soy sauce, spicy and within the soup) are so delicious and all the other side dishes are spiced very well. The owner and all the waiters are incredibly kind and look after each customer with a lot of respect. If you visit Yeosu go to this place! Plus the price at 7000₩ for the whole set is just stunning.

If you love craft beer and are in Yoesu, South Korea, or Korea in general,, this is the place to throw back a cold one. They offer a black lager (amazing), porter (nice), IPA (yum) and a couple of sours. The proprietor is an absolute gem. She has a passion for the craft beer profession that is a joy, for a craft beer junkie like me, to see. It shown brightly during our conversations about beer and in the quality of the beers she offers. Yeosu Seafood Market is a must-visit for seafood lovers. The market offers a wide variety of fresh aquatic creatures straight from the ocean, allowing visitors to choose their dinner and watch it being prepared. It's a cool place to buy some fresh fish and even enjoy them at the top floor restaurant for an extra cost. The market provides an easier navigation compared to others in Seoul, with great service and fair prices.
I love seafood ❤️ This was my first time to a fish market! If you don't like the smell of fresh aquatic creatures then straight from the ocean, don't go here. If you're like me, this is PERFECT! Didn't get to see a fish auction but being able to choose what I want for dinner and watch them prepare it...*chef kiss*

We stayed in the Hotel at the Ocean Resort on 9 Nov (Sat) in room 1003. We had a choked toilet bowl at 9.50pm, called the front desk to get help from housekeeping. Without the ability to communicate properly in English to the Korean speaking staff, we hoped for the best... At 10pm, A young gentleman from housekeeping came and took a look at the situation. He told us in Korean and hand signals to give him 10 mins. He came back exactly 10 mins later with a toilet bowl hand pump, pumped it three times and cleared the choke. He flushed it twice to check that it’s all working well, and asked if there is anything else that we needed his help. We said thank you to him and he gave us a 90 degree bow before he left. This short but swift response from housekeeping to resolve the problem at hand promptly is an excellent demonstration of the positive service standard that we experienced. A pity that we did not manage to take down the name of this staff, but would like to give compliments to him and congratulate the management of the hotel for having such a wonderful employee who took his work seriously and did it well. Thanks for the positive experience in staying in the hotel at The Ocean Resort!

Pretty average, nothing fancy. You can pay extra to get a good view of the sun rise. Basic amenities, pay extra for bedding + pillows. Long winding corridors, disorganized and easy to get lost.

Small water park, gets very busy during the peak season and will have to wait in long lines for the popular rides. Limited English signage. Definitely a fun day-trip.

The room was fine, but we were a bit disappointed with the pool. It was an extra 15,000 won/person to swim, which is odd but we figured it would mean less people. Not the case, there were at least 100 people in the tiny pool. I takked to one couple, they were not staying at the hotel but paid the same as those who were staying.
