Zakimi Castle Ruins are an ancient structure that was constructed in the years 1416-1422. The partially restored walls and ruins provide visitors with a center to explore while enjoying beautiful views. While there aren't many explanatory signs, the architecture is stunning, and the view from the wall is breathtaking. The immense castle grounds offer picturesque hikes for visitors to enjoy, surrounded by beautifully arranged rocks and arches that add to its peaceful atmosphere.
A beautiful place to take a stroll and take in the gorgeous landscape. These castle ruins have nice paved roads through woods and views of the water and nearby city. I love being surrounded by nature and walking here allows you to recharge.

Fantastic part of history to visit. Very glad I was able to walk the grounds and take in the views. Definitely go visit if you have the chance.
Edward L — Google review
The grass was so green and maintained everywhere. It was absolutely beautiful. The tall walls are impressive. There's so much space so you can explore without running into too many people. It was hotttt in the sun but the wind tunnels through the arch ways and feels so good.
Amber G — Google review
An ideal location for a leisurely walk and photography, boasting a wonderful vista that can be enjoyed by climbing the ramparts to gaze at the horizon, along with its historical importance.
KE-HAO C — Google review
It's kind of crazy how many of these sites exist where they do. Unless you're looking for it, you probably wouldn't even know it was there. The trees lining the walkway up to the castle really set the tone for the incredible structure that's still standing after so many years. Once inside there's a large item space with another set of stairs that will take you to the upper level which is a bit smaller. The last set of stairs allows you to walk along the top of the walls giving you a view of the ocean, city, and mountains. I went close to sunset which is a great time to take some nice photos. It's quiet up there aside from the birds, it's quite peaceful if you are at all interested in history and great views away from all the traffic and so many people. I've seen a few of these sites and the view at this one is my favorite one so far, I recommend taking some time out to see it if you're visiting Okinawa.

Beautiful hiking trails and cultural discovery. Very recommended to visit this place.
Chie R — Google review
Amazing to think of what this place used to be and how it was built. There's not much to the place anymore, but you will find nice views and great photo opportunities.
Anthony S — Google review
We were going from Cape Zanpa to American Village and decided to stop along the way. Sure glad we did. The ruins are well maintained. I believe you call that an oxymoron, but the entire area / park is so clean and organized. Looks like Pine trees surround the castle which doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a tropical region. The view from the top of the castle ruins is nice too. A great way to leisurely pass 30-45 min.

Cape Zanpa, situated in Yomitan, is a striking cape that juts into the East China Sea. The area features rugged cliffs towering 30 meters high along a 2-km stretch of coastline. In the past, it served as a crucial landmark for sea routes due to the absence of lighthouses and navigation tools. Visitors can explore the picturesque surroundings and enjoy breathtaking views of volcanic rock formations.
Cape Zanpa is one of the most breathtaking coastal spots in Okinawa. The ocean views are absolutely stunning, with powerful waves crashing against the rugged cliffs, creating a mesmerizing scene. The deep blue sea stretches endlessly, making it a perfect place to take in the beauty of nature. The highlight of my visit was climbing up the Zanpa Lighthouse. The journey up can be a bit tiring, but once you reach the top, the panoramic view is truly spectacular definitely worth the effort. From up there, you can see the vast ocean meeting the sky, and the scenery is just awe-inspiring. One of the most fascinating sights was the waves hitting the rocks and sending water spray back into the air. In some spots, it reminded me of Devil’s Tear in Bali, with the way the water crashes and sprays dramatically. It’s a spot that feels both powerful and peaceful at the same time. If you’re in Okinawa, Cape Zanpa is a must-visit for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. Whether you’re enjoying the sea breeze, watching the waves, or admiring the view from the lighthouse, it’s an unforgettable experience

Very nice and scenic view. I would be careful if you plan to take pictures on the edge, I my phone and I almost fell over so I would recommend you take Extreme causation while taking pictures. Other than that I would 100% recommend this spot for your next trip to Okinawa. (Also a lot of the rocks are sharp to watch out for that too!)
Xantiago M — Google review
A really beautiful view. The sunset is apparently stunning, but also really crowded with tourists, according to my fellow traveler who was there for the sun down while three different wedding photo shoots were taking place at the same time.
Olivier C — Google review
It was a very windy and cloudy Monday afternoon, the waves hit hard on the coastal rocks and you can get wet even at a distance away from the coast. Watching the harsh waves and the whooshing sounds was somehow a therapeutic experience for me. To climb up to the top of the lighthouse cost 300yen if I don't remember wrongly, it was good exercise and the 360° views up there were amazing. The wind was so strong and I couldn't stand steadily without holding on to the rails. Overall, it was a beautiful time spent, enjoying the views and photography.
Roy C — Google review
Probably one of the best spots for a sunset in Okinawa. There's a lighthouse but it closes at 4 pm. Plenty of parking available.
Aida Z — Google review
Beautiful place to stop by four some great views. You're able to climb the lighthouse for a fee and it's harder than it looks! The space is very narrow but the view from the top is great. Close by there was also a food truck and toilets. Plenty of public parking available

殘波岬 has magnificent scenery; good place for family picnic; nearby beach and water sports are available; Must visit there.
Fcpsutpn S — Google review
Beautiful scenery. Unblock view. Easy car parking. Its crowded during the weekend. Another highlight was the Lighthouse. The rocks were pretty sharp hence a thicker sole shoe will be preferred if you want to climb the rocks to access the edge of the cliff to have a closer look of the sea.

Outdoor Activities
Toguchi Beach in Yomitan, Okinawa is a picturesque sandy strip adorned with tuftlike rock formations, making it a popular spot for swimming, snorkeling, and photo shoots. The beach offers clear visibility for activities like diving and is known for its opportunities to go snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Additionally, the area is recognized as a hub for Yachimun pottery and features attractions such as Zakimi Castle offering panoramic views of central Okinawa.
Really lovely spot! Would recommend. Here is some information that I think is helpful to know in advance: Great for snorkeling. Lots of fish, starfish, crabs, and hermit crabs. Has free toilets (no soap) and ¥200 showers (no soap). Has a great restaurant. Has a mini shop but it's more geared towards selling raw meat than anything touristy. Bring footwear you can walk on in beach and in the water. The water does not get deep, 1-2m. The beach is mostly dead corals and stones, not soft sand. There is roofed seating spaces. It was not too busy, the water was free. Most other visitors just BBQ in the seating area. There is walks nearby. There is convenience store15 mins walk away, but the beach had ice-cream and drinks vending machines. I could easily spend a day here and I like to keep busy. I hope you enjoy.

I didn’t swim just looked around, it was so beautiful and I found one of my favorite shells a sea urchin so I had the best day ever here! Definitely worth a visit, free parking and a cafe/restaurant next to it as well 🏖️

If you want to swim here you’ll need aqua shoes! I tried swimming barefoot and it hurt so bad 😂 Don’t make the same mistake as me! But honestly it was perfect❤️ lots of fish and such a beautiful view. I’d totally recommend it if you love exploring! I’ll definitely go again and try snorkeling next time 🐠🌊

Great local beach if you don’t mind swimming at your own risk. November 2023 my daughter was stung by a box jellyfish in the shallow water just a couple feet from shore. When we made other swimmers aware, some got out of the water and some chose to stay. The reason we’ve given it 2 stars, is because the staff made a point to go to the swimmers who had removed their young children from the water and told them it was safe to still swim and, that it was NOT a Box jellyfish. Which was a lie. It is now feb of 2025 and my daughter is still physically scarred. The stings will occasionally still flare up and burn. Box jellyfish are deadly! We love Toguchi beach, but safety has to be a priority, lying to the public just to protect your image is not the way to go!

Great beach to relax and see the sunset. There is a little cafe with a very helpful staff. I recommend
Jean-Sébastien G — Google review
Water was soooo warm and so clear. Plenty of fish and other things to see. It was pretty empty when we went as well and there were places to clean the sand off and places to eat!
Wvaldo M — Google review
Beautiful little beach! Surprisingly, not so crowded, which is very nice, it has a nice little trail you can take if you want to walk around and take pictures. There is plenty of space for a picnic.
John A — Google review
Great place to watch the sunset. A limestone and ground down corals beach as many others on the island. The water is not fenced off but it's not suitable for swimming as it is very shallow. Bring some sort of shoes to get into the water. The water gets incredibly warm. Adorable looking rocks standing out in the water. There are places to sit in shade. Kiosk and bathroom nearby.

There is a lighthouse with an entry fee of 300 yen. Area around the cape is good for relaxing and gazing over the rocks. Although the rocks are sharp and dangerous to walk on. The lighthouse offers great views of the surrounding landscape.

Beautiful views. Lots of things to see and im sure the sunset would be a wonder to watch from this place. It was not to crowded during the weekday only about 20 people at one time. It was a good visit over all and I recommend making the trip.

The main reason to visit this park was to visit the Zanpa Lighthouse for some photos. Easy parking and road was well paved and maintained. Some its wheelchair friendly. Its a well maintained park. You and Family will enjoy the visit as the scenery was great. Beautiful unblock sea view.

Amazing view of the ocean. Not populated at all with people. Nice scenery of the ocean with rocky hills.

Very scenic and peaceful. Going up in the light house for 300y is awesome. 99 steep steps. Great view from the top. Then you can walk around a big loop trail and see more historical areas. It's probably a mile or so. Took 20nminutes. They cut the grass so it smelled like a fresh summer day. Will be going back to enjoy that area of the island.

Nice views of the ocean and lighthouse from clifftop lookouts. Good solid flat walking paths, but no shade along paths. Funky retro looking ice-cream food truck. Nice playground for the kids. Full size basketball court. Close to beautiful swimming beaches, and Grand Mercure resort. Was surprised that more people weren’t using the paths for walking/running.

It is one of the most visited lighthouse parks in Yomitan. It has a lighthouse where visitors can climb and have a mouth-dropping view of the ocean by paying 300 jpy. Besides that, we have lava rocks along the lighthouse with manmade rock structures and a samurai statue. There is a small food court near to it. Wear boots or nice shoes.

Brasserie VERDEMAR is a fantastic restaurant known for its incredible food, making it a great choice for special occasions and holiday celebrations. While some may find the prices on the higher side, the overall experience and delicious meals make it worth it. Situated within a wonderful resort, the restaurant offers impeccable service with extremely courteous staff and clean surroundings despite its size.
Wonderful resort! -Clean despite the size. -Extremely courteous staff. - impeccable room cleaning. -Sea view from any side. Extremely recommended.

Dinner with beef and fish, and my husband had wagyu beef with truffle sauce. Lovely service, quiet restaurant, nicely presented food. But the meat was nearly inedible. Very tough, and hard to chew or even cut through. Not much of a truffle flavor to the sauce either. The worst meat we were served on our 1 month long trip in Japan.

Went here for the Valentine’s, expecting a romantic French dinner. The only thing that was French about the menu seemed to be the French Onion Soup. Despite of being inside the hotel, we had a hard time communicating in any other language that’s not Japanese. We had to wait a good 15 min. just for water. We ordered Salmon and the fish of the day, both quite disappointing. The food was an average at best, although we both did enjoy the French Onion Soup. There’s nothing really wrong with the place itself. Just not a great spot to dine in, unless you’re staying in the hotel. In that case, this is one of the only options you can access to unfortunately.
Sooah W — Google review
The selection and quality of food was fantastic. I could tell that everything was prepared thoughtfully. The hosts were also very friendly. What dampened the experience were the overbearing covid measures. The requirement to wear gloves when using the buffet was a hassle, and took away from an otherwise great dining experience. It is summer 2022, and covid is just a flu at most. It's time to move on.

(Translated by Google) I went there for dinner while staying at the hotel! They have a great value dinner course that is only available for early or late visitors, and I was able to enjoy a high-quality steak course at a great price! The steak was cooked to perfection and was truly high-quality lean meat, so I was extremely satisfied! Also, this can be said for breakfast as well, but this restaurant has delicious bread and an all-you-can-eat option, so it's best to go there on an empty stomach! They also have a solid lineup of alcohol, including wine, so you can pair it with your meal without any problems! The staff were elegant but also had the warmth that is typical of Okinawa, and I had a very comfortable time!

Found this local restaurant by chance. Love it! Their ramen is so flavourful and the pork was amazingly tasty and done, tender and great taste. Others like gyoza and fried rice are very good too. Highly recommended and will definitely return if have chance.

Tried Okinawa soup noodles here. I ordered a set including noodles, rice and an appetizer. The noodle is quite different from other Japanese Ramen. The noodle itself is more dente. The soup is more clear and less salty with a special flavour. There are a few pieces of pork belly and fish cake. Pretty good. The deep fried chicken rice is not bad. Overall, very good price performance. One tip, there is a small bottle of sage on each table. Adding some sake into the soup brings out an aroma with the noodle. What an enjoyable experience! Some locals also have lunch here. It is a good place to go if you want to have some very local Japanese experience. There are 4 to 5 parking lot next to the restaurant if you drive.

I followed the recommendations here and ordered the soba(fried noodles) - which did not disappoint at all! It was really tasty with a wide range of ingredients, and I have to say the fried noodles is one of the best here in Japan. The menu contained a whole bunch of photos, so tourists can order items with ease! The staff here are very friendly and helpful too, I especially like the old woman working here who served us during our lunch. I would highly recommend all tourists to come here and try out their dishes - you will surely enjoy your time here !

Family and I just got back from a week in Okinawa. In those seven days we ate Soki Soba from six different places. This place was hands down the favorite of everyone in my family. Soki Soba is so similar in the six places we went to, and yet so different. We did not experience a bad bowl any of the places we went. But if we lived here, this would be our go-to based off what we ate here to date. So the important thing? The food. The largest servings we got anywhere and the best soup broth. I think the depth to the broth is kind of what set it aside, and the taste of the meat. We really stuck to the Soki so I cannot comment on anything else. One of my sons got the combo with gyoza and rice. I felt their gyoza was real good, and if I felt glutonous, I would have ordered the same combo. It tasted fresh, not frozen. But looking at his order, it was a smaller bowl. So it evens out? There are many Shokudo like this throughout Okinawa, so I wouldn't say nothing sets it aside from another. It's typical, it's comfortable. You can stretch out a little. And it is so family (children) friendly. Like many of the places in Okinawa. I love going into a place and seeing children in there being children. My boys are all older, so I miss that. There is parking just north of the restaurant, just need to be a little nimble in getting into the spaces. It's not off the beaten path, but it isn't on 58. So if you are in Yomitan, or nearby? Please try this.

Really popular soba place, the soki soba AKA spare Rib. The meat is super soft and has a lot of cartilage, tastes better than most other soba places. The noodles and broth are really good too and give it a nice balance. Price is cheap as well!! I haven't been let down yet by coming here.

Great place for soba or tonkatsu. Gets busy and full quickly. Dining on two floors. Tourists find their way here, so come when they open, otherwise you'll have to wait for seating. Service is quick. Well established and it's reputation is worth it.

Good customer service with good tasting food that comes out very hot. I got the chicken stirfry while my husband got the seafood noodle soup and we both couldn't finish them as big servings. Buffet restaurant
HANAHANA, a buffet restaurant, offers a picturesque setting with an incredible oceanic backdrop. The cuisine is delightful and reasonably enjoyable; however, given the cost, it would have been preferable to have a more diverse selection of dishes available. Additionally, the dessert section seemed disappointingly limited with only a sparse assortment of fruits offered; one would anticipate higher quality fruits for the price paid. Nevertheless, HANAHANA provides a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere that caters well to families.
Very good and extensive lunch buffet. Dim sum is of decent quality. Sushi is limited but also decent. Lots of vegetable offerings. Nice ambience. Attentive service. Reasonably priced. Good for families with kids, or people with very taste. We will be back!

Went for buffet breakfast, large crowd. Food was just average. Only hot food was mini burger and self service soba.
Andrew T — Google review
The buffet is good for the price. I absolutely love the ocean view in the background, the Italian style venue and the fresh dimsum. They also have pasta, pizza and shabu shabu which are all amazing. The only thing that didn't cut my favorite list was the sushi bar, the quality is not that great. Tip: They charge for parking so make sure you ask them to validate your ticket.
Danica C — Google review
Beautiful location with an awesome view of the ocean, and food was really good, but for the price I would have liked a wider variety of food to choose from. Also, the desert section was very small, and only a few fruits to choose from, would have expected better fruit for the price.

Italian restaurant
Mintama is a delightful Italian restaurant with an appealing ambiance and reasonable prices. Although the menu may be limited, all the dishes ordered were scrumptious, showcasing local ingredients such as island octopus, dried tomato marinade, and purple potato frit. The restaurant embodies an Okinawan touch which adds to its charm. However, it's important to note that some reviews mentioned the absence of Okinawan cuisine and desserts from the menu.
The night we went here- we didn’t have reservation so we had to wait 30min. It seems there was only one guy working for cooking serving taking orders etc. he was quite nice. The restaurant had very nice atmosphere! I loved how the interior lookss and it looks like renovated from old Japanese house. The food we ordered was so good!! Especially loved the squid ink pasta! It is not fishy at all and another pasta was meat pasta! We also got the half and half pizza. Thy were delicious as well. I would come back next time for sure and I will make reservations 😉

We have always loved this place! It’s been a go to date night for us! We Ordered bruschetta for an appetizer. Came out fast and it was so refreshing. We got the buffalo chicken wings, they had a some what sweet flavor and were nice and crunchy. We also order a half margherita and half the vegtable. It was good, the margherita was flavorful. The vegtable had a lot of meat but I will say the topping of salad was a little weird because it was warmed by the pizza which was a little funky. We also did two pastas, a vodka, and another one with bigger noodles and pork. The vodka sauce took the win on this one. The bigger noodle one was bland and the meat was less than desirable. We asked about dessert and they said they didn’t have any. We enjoyed some adult beverages as well. When we arrived a table of people were sitting down and had already enjoyed a bottle of wine and had food on their table. Unfortunately after asking for a dessert menu and being told no we were told that it was last call, no more ordering. Some time after while waiting for our cab another table was sat down and the table that was there before us was still ordering. It was quite odd. The place has many tables and a bar so we weren’t taking up a table that was needed. I felt like it was pointed at us but could have just been me overthinking it. With that said, we left with a bad taste in our mouth making it our last visit.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of dishes available in this quiet little place just off the main road. Not easy to spot at all. Impressed dish after dish, except for the buffalo wings, which aren't even featured in the attached photos. If you're looking for a casual place with great food, you can't go wrong with this place.

I ordered the veggie and beef pizza and my wife ordered the anchovy linguine. The pizza was clearly served on some type of whole grain flatbread that seemed to have been bought before and he just put a few toppings on and warmed in the oven. 2/10. The pasta was watered down and flavourless. I will say that the noodles were cooked perfectly to my liking. Nice al dente consistency. 4/10. The decor and atmosphere was nice.

Utterly amazing, fresh produce, lovely Italian with a local twist. Place is comfortable and cool take on Okinawa meets west. Not fine dining, there’s no table cloths thankfully but great for a date and those who love tasty food done brilliantly. Staff super friendly.

Food: I’ll say food is tasty and balanced. You’ll not feel any overpowering flavour. Pastas are recommended. I didn’t like the pizza, and don’t recommend it. I felt like pizza bread needs some attention. Ambiance: it was nice and cozy. I liked it. Staffs are nice. I’ll go back there again definitely.

Breakfast restaurant
Nestled in the serene Yomitan village, Jakkepoes Pancake House has been delighting patrons since its inception in 2008. This charming eatery is renowned for its signature pancakes and a variety of American breakfast staples served all day long. The inviting atmosphere makes it a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike, creating that warm feeling reminiscent of enjoying a meal at a friend's home.
The best pancakes that I’ve tried. It was a bit hard to find this place. You will understand if you start driving around Okinawa. There are so many streets tangled like a bunch of string. Once you get lost you have to drive around the same streets over and over until you finally get there. That’s why the food must even taste better cause that’s what you get after having a tough time. 😹 however this pancake was so good no matter how much I suffered to get here. The excellent service and the vibe was good as well. I’m definitely coming back.

GREAT breakfast/brunch spot. Pancakes were DELICIOUS! If you like fluffy and rich pancakes, this place is for you! 10/10! The restaurant is actually a house they turned into a business, but don't let that deter you from thinking the food won't be great because it IS!

Beautiful presentation, fast, and very tasty! Parking is a little tricky but easy if you pay attention. Yes they have an English menu and are very sweet and patient. We will definitely be back!

They have pancakes with all different types of toppings. The hot cocoa was good. Tried the soup of the day wasn’t a fan but it wasn’t bad. Place looks like someone’s home but very quiet area. Not a lot of parking. YEN ONLY.
