Cape Zanpa Lighthouse, situated at the northwest end of Yomitan Village in Okinawa, is a popular tourist spot known for its stunning coastal views. The 30-meter-high lighthouse offers panoramic vistas of the coral reef cliffs and the azure sea. Visitors can climb 99 stairs to reach the top for a fee and enjoy breathtaking scenery.
It's surprisingly beautiful and fun to climb to have a great view of the sea and the coast. Quite a steep climb and in enclosed space so just a warning for people with claustrophobic tendencies. The top of the lighthouse is not for people with vertigo, though it is beautiful and a breath of fresh air to reach it.

Breathtaking Views and Coastal Serenity at Cape Zanpa! Cape Zanpa is easily one of the most stunning coastal spots in Okinawa. Perched on the westernmost tip of the island and overlooking the vast, deep-blue East China Sea, this park offers panoramic ocean views that are nothing short of majestic. The dramatic limestone cliffs and crashing waves create a peaceful yet powerful atmosphere.
Regina H — Google review
Cape Zanpa Lighthouse is a must-visit spot in Okinawa. The views from the cliffs are absolutely breathtaking, with crystal-clear waters and waves crashing against the rugged coastline. The lighthouse itself is beautiful and offers a unique photo opportunity, especially during sunset. There’s plenty of space to walk around, enjoy the sea breeze, and take in the scenery. A peaceful and scenic spot that’s perfect for sightseeing, photography, or just relaxing by the ocean. Highly recommend adding it to your Okinawa itinerary.
Tremon J — Google review
Wonderful time and had fun just exploring the area. Great fishing and scuba diving spot. I really recommend going near the evening or morning to see the sunrise or sunset.
Emanuel M — Google review
Amazing view from the lighthouse. 10/10 would recommend for your trip to Okinawa. For only 100 yen you can have this amazing photo place. Would be cautious going up the stairs though, they are steep. Make sure to check the weather too because rain would for sure make this experience less pleasant
Xantiago M — Google review
Nice views off the cliff. Must climb the lighthouse to see even better views!! It is small and hot 3 stairs and up another level. Worth the climb up. Be prepared for a ladder going to the very top after the last set of stairs maybe 8-10 steps. If you've got a go pro make sure to bring it.
KidsGalore — Google review
This was a wonderful sight seeing spot with plenty of parking, walking trails, and of course the light house. There were quiet a few tourists there so be prepared to move slow at times if you go up the light house. Over all a great spot to stop at.

300 yen and 99 steps to get to the top. It was awesome. Wonderful views. Also the ice cream bus was an awesome treat.

Cape Zanpa Park

Park
Cape Zanpa Park is a headland park in Nakagami District, Japan, featuring a lighthouse and offering various amenities such as bike paths, playgrounds, and sports facilities. The park provides stunning sea views and rugged rock formations to explore. Visitors are advised to be cautious while walking on the sharp rocks due to the rough terrain. The area is known for its windy conditions, so it's recommended to bring a wind jacket when visiting.
Great area to walk around and enjoy the coastal views. There are well made paths for you to walk on and you might even see some stray cats too!
Candice — Google review
There is a lighthouse with an entry fee of 300 yen. Area around the cape is good for relaxing and gazing over the rocks. Although the rocks are sharp and dangerous to walk on. The lighthouse offers great views of the surrounding landscape.
Hitesh G — Google review
Beautiful views. Lots of things to see and im sure the sunset would be a wonder to watch from this place. It was not to crowded during the weekday only about 20 people at one time. It was a good visit over all and I recommend making the trip.
Zachary A — Google review
The main reason to visit this park was to visit the Zanpa Lighthouse for some photos. Easy parking and road was well paved and maintained. Some its wheelchair friendly. Its a well maintained park. You and Family will enjoy the visit as the scenery was great. Beautiful unblock sea view.
Hao T — Google review
Amazing view of the ocean. Not populated at all with people. Nice scenery of the ocean with rocky hills.
Don S — Google review
Very scenic and peaceful. Going up in the light house for 300y is awesome. 99 steep steps. Great view from the top. Then you can walk around a big loop trail and see more historical areas. It's probably a mile or so. Took 20nminutes. They cut the grass so it smelled like a fresh summer day. Will be going back to enjoy that area of the island.
Disspose — Google review
Nice views of the ocean and lighthouse from clifftop lookouts. Good solid flat walking paths, but no shade along paths. Funky retro looking ice-cream food truck. Nice playground for the kids. Full size basketball court. Close to beautiful swimming beaches, and Grand Mercure resort. Was surprised that more people weren’t using the paths for walking/running.
Jess — Google review
It is one of the most visited lighthouse parks in Yomitan. It has a lighthouse where visitors can climb and have a mouth-dropping view of the ocean by paying 300 jpy. Besides that, we have lava rocks along the lighthouse with manmade rock structures and a samurai statue. There is a small food court near to it. Wear boots or nice shoes.

Cape Zanpa

4.4
(1651)
Cape Zanpa, situated in Yomitan, is a striking cape that juts into the East China Sea. The area features rugged cliffs towering 30 meters high along a 2-km stretch of coastline. In the past, it served as a crucial landmark for sea routes due to the absence of lighthouses and navigation tools. Visitors can explore the picturesque surroundings and enjoy breathtaking views of volcanic rock formations.
Cape Zanpa is one of the most breathtaking coastal spots in Okinawa. The ocean views are absolutely stunning, with powerful waves crashing against the rugged cliffs, creating a mesmerizing scene. The deep blue sea stretches endlessly, making it a perfect place to take in the beauty of nature. The highlight of my visit was climbing up the Zanpa Lighthouse. The journey up can be a bit tiring, but once you reach the top, the panoramic view is truly spectacular definitely worth the effort. From up there, you can see the vast ocean meeting the sky, and the scenery is just awe-inspiring. One of the most fascinating sights was the waves hitting the rocks and sending water spray back into the air. In some spots, it reminded me of Devil’s Tear in Bali, with the way the water crashes and sprays dramatically. It’s a spot that feels both powerful and peaceful at the same time. If you’re in Okinawa, Cape Zanpa is a must-visit for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. Whether you’re enjoying the sea breeze, watching the waves, or admiring the view from the lighthouse, it’s an unforgettable experience
Weerapan A — Google review
Very nice and scenic view. I would be careful if you plan to take pictures on the edge, I my phone and I almost fell over so I would recommend you take Extreme causation while taking pictures. Other than that I would 100% recommend this spot for your next trip to Okinawa. (Also a lot of the rocks are sharp to watch out for that too!)
Xantiago M — Google review
A really beautiful view. The sunset is apparently stunning, but also really crowded with tourists, according to my fellow traveler who was there for the sun down while three different wedding photo shoots were taking place at the same time.
Olivier C — Google review
It was a very windy and cloudy Monday afternoon, the waves hit hard on the coastal rocks and you can get wet even at a distance away from the coast. Watching the harsh waves and the whooshing sounds was somehow a therapeutic experience for me. To climb up to the top of the lighthouse cost 300yen if I don't remember wrongly, it was good exercise and the 360° views up there were amazing. The wind was so strong and I couldn't stand steadily without holding on to the rails. Overall, it was a beautiful time spent, enjoying the views and photography.
Roy C — Google review
Probably one of the best spots for a sunset in Okinawa. There's a lighthouse but it closes at 4 pm. Plenty of parking available.
Aida Z — Google review
Beautiful place to stop by four some great views. You're able to climb the lighthouse for a fee and it's harder than it looks! The space is very narrow but the view from the top is great. Close by there was also a food truck and toilets. Plenty of public parking available

殘波岬 has magnificent scenery; good place for family picnic; nearby beach and water sports are available; Must visit there.

Zanpa Beach is a popular destination known for its white sand and clear waters, making it perfect for activities like swimming and snorkeling. The area also features Cape Zanpa, offering stunning ocean views and cliffs that are ideal for sunset viewing and photography. Visitors can find luxurious resorts and cozy guesthouses nearby, providing easy access to the natural beauty of the area.
You don’t need to be a professional photographer to capture stunning sunset views, but you better wait until the day having sunny forecast. Spend a few more minutes at the Zanpa Lighthouse area too.

Nice beach although we came in early January and the beach was close for swimming. I managed to take some good pictures however and here they are.
Cromwell W — Google review
Free to access. Beach house has food and drink. Showers, toilets, lockers. Use the foot wash area to rinse your body instead of paying to shower. Small swim area. Water is murky. Kind of disappointing.
John B — Google review
One if the best beach. Its calm, quite new and not that much crowded compared to other beaches. And sunset here is mindblowing. Am in love with it.
Hamza K — Google review
There are so many rocks beside the beach and made many peoples feet bleed, and u need to pay 2000+yen for just one umbrella. There are many dead corals which makes the water quality drop by a lot. The people there closed all the free shower which forces u to pay for the showers inside. DO NOT COME TO THIS BEACH!!!
Mon G — Google review
So many rocks under the ocean floor, it’s not that nice a beach honestly, if you want to do activities like sup, inflatable pool playing, it’s nice for those but for swimming, NOT RECOMMEND, must bring water shoes if you want to swim and stand on the ocean bed.
Linh D — Google review
Pretty disappointed in this place but mostly the workers. It’s a public beach but as soon as I got here one of the workers for the building “Zanpa Beach House” told me I wasn’t allowed to use my umbrella? Pretty ridiculous we can’t use personal umbrellas at the beach let alone a public one. They sell their own umbrellas so that must be the reason for the scam. Pretty rocky, you’re better off elsewhere.
Victoria F — Google review
There was a small guarded swimming area with a water park and you can even take the banana boat. The beach house had some drinks and a shop, but it was kind of expensive. Seems like it's mainly targeted at people of nearby resorts since you had to pick which resort you are from when buying stuff. The water was a bit murky so not that worthwhile compared to other beaches in Okinawa

Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Recreation center
Murasaki Mura is a cultural theme park located near Cape Zanpa, offering a glimpse into the 14th and 15th-century life in Okinawa during the flourishing trade center of the Ryukyu Kingdom. The park features red-tile roofs, stone walls, and cobblestone streets that recreate the grandeur of this historical era.
Went for the Ryukyu Lantern Festival at night and it was magical (do check if it's still on when you go, I think it ends in March) We stayed the night nearby at the Best Western Hotel, mainly so we could snorkel the next day. Turns out I enjoyed this light exhibition more as it was so peaceful and beautiful. Went on 19 Jan (Sun) and the people were spaced out enough to have a peaceful experience I liked the Vietnamese Lantern area the most (the colourful ones in the pictures)
Bryan L — Google review
Most of Okinawan attractions are pretty run down compared to when i went to them as a child, but his one even though most of the craft shops had no staff and the banana exhibit is a wreck and the pond is empty, closed restaurant in tge middle ofbtge day, at least the grass was cut and it was really clean. Maybe under new management somebody with fresh ideas can bring this great place back. Even though much of the old Murasaki Mura is gone, it can still be brought back. The highlight there now is the horse riding.
HingaSPL — Google review
We enjoyed the Lantern festival. It was nice and low key which was exactly what we were looking for. We went on a Saturday just before Christmas. The crowd wasn't overwhelming and we got excellent pictures of everything. A relaxing environment with food and activities. Bring Yen.
Vivian L — Google review
This place was okay if you want to do crafts and thats about it. Or maybe if there is an event going on, other than that.. not worth a vist. Especially at 1000 yen. Maybe if more beer was involved and an event. Ok
Nhoj S — Google review
The ambiance is amazing. Such an extraordinary and authentic experience you won't want to miss. They have the Ryukyu Lantern Festival every Dec - Mar where you can see the recreated town illuminated with 3000 lanterns. It's 100% worth the visit.
Anthony S — Google review
I love visiting during the lantern festival during the winter. It’s a perfect location to take pictures and a must see for friends and family visiting. When we visited there were shows going on with performers and food vendors.
Carissa S — Google review
The lantern festival is always a fun experience. I went to one years ago that had a lot of Ghibli items. This seemed a lot tone down to that. The 3D mapping is awesome but crowded. They have food and vending machines. They some times have food trucks and stalls with handmade items. I love the color and how pretty it is. It gets pretty cold at night. So heads up if you are cold easily. The food is reasonably priced. It is bumpy path for those who are bringing baby carts or in wheelchairs chairs. But some parts only have stairs so just check before going certain ways. Not all are stairs most are ramps. If you are wondering if they have animals they have goats. And a big open area for kids to run around.
Grace M — Google review
We are so happy we made it to the lantern festival before it ended. Walking through the park with the gorgeous lanterns illuminating was not only enchanting but romantic. We went as a group and all parties had a wonderfully magical experience. We highly recommend taking the time to enjoy this beautiful festival while it is still going. It cost 700 yen for Junior and high school students 1200 yen per adult. Elementary students are cheaper and under five is free. The lantern festival starts after 5 pm throughout March.

Zakimi Castle Ruins are an ancient structure that was constructed in the years 1416-1422. The partially restored walls and ruins provide visitors with a center to explore while enjoying beautiful views. While there aren't many explanatory signs, the architecture is stunning, and the view from the wall is breathtaking. The immense castle grounds offer picturesque hikes for visitors to enjoy, surrounded by beautifully arranged rocks and arches that add to its peaceful atmosphere.
A beautiful place to take a stroll and take in the gorgeous landscape. These castle ruins have nice paved roads through woods and views of the water and nearby city. I love being surrounded by nature and walking here allows you to recharge.

Fantastic part of history to visit. Very glad I was able to walk the grounds and take in the views. Definitely go visit if you have the chance.
Edward L — Google review
The grass was so green and maintained everywhere. It was absolutely beautiful. The tall walls are impressive. There's so much space so you can explore without running into too many people. It was hotttt in the sun but the wind tunnels through the arch ways and feels so good.
Amber G — Google review
We were going from Cape Zanpa to American Village and decided to stop along the way. Sure glad we did. The ruins are well maintained. I believe you call that an oxymoron, but the entire area / park is so clean and organized. Looks like Pine trees surround the castle which doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a tropical region. The view from the top of the castle ruins is nice too. A great way to leisurely pass 30-45 min.
Nick T — Google review
An ideal location for a leisurely walk and photography, boasting a wonderful vista that can be enjoyed by climbing the ramparts to gaze at the horizon, along with its historical importance.
KE-HAO C — Google review
It's kind of crazy how many of these sites exist where they do. Unless you're looking for it, you probably wouldn't even know it was there. The trees lining the walkway up to the castle really set the tone for the incredible structure that's still standing after so many years. Once inside there's a large item space with another set of stairs that will take you to the upper level which is a bit smaller. The last set of stairs allows you to walk along the top of the walls giving you a view of the ocean, city, and mountains. I went close to sunset which is a great time to take some nice photos. It's quiet up there aside from the birds, it's quite peaceful if you are at all interested in history and great views away from all the traffic and so many people. I've seen a few of these sites and the view at this one is my favorite one so far, I recommend taking some time out to see it if you're visiting Okinawa.

Relaxed and cheerful American atmosphere and an affordable buffet at around Y2000 per person (less for kids aged 12 and below). A range of tasty pizzas and additional dishes like curry & rice, spaghetti, salads, chips and fried chicken. A choice of refillable tea, coffee, soft drinks and juice. Soft-serve icecream & chocolate muffins for dessert.

Our mix pizza S size was pretty awesome! Very convenient price and we also got steak sandwiches, very delicious but the steak was a little fatty.. overall is pretty good, we stayed at the Ali Vilas resort and it’s just 10m by walk.. it’s an excellent option if you want to save just cash and get American junk food. Location is just stunning you can seaside, get chilling time and just get drunk with the main three beers Heineken, Corona and Budweiser.. beers are just 500yens so convenient place.. highly recommend for foreigners or Japanese that want to try something different than Japanese menu.. I’ll visit this place again. Thanks

While visiting Gala, we decided to try this buffet for lunch. It didn't appear to have much variety, but there was always a few choices of pizza to choose from and a nice salad bar. The spaghetti and curry were also good, and the dessert pizza was unique in a good way. The other area had drinks, and I had the Jasmin tea while the others enjoyed different sodas. The vanilla soft serve ice cream was a perfect treat, too. No complaints, we left full and happy.
Tammy E — Google review
Pretty good pizza, I like this place better than other pizza buffets I’ve been to. The pizza comes out at a good pace so you don’t have to wait to get a slice and worry about other people rushing up before you. Been to others out here where that was the main problem believe it or not. They have a good salad bar as well, including Taco Rice and curry.
Mike T — Google review
It's a nice location, the patio has a pretty good view, and the staff are friendly and helpful... but the food is not quite there. Doesn't taste fresh or well kept.
Ray W — Google review
This quiet little spot was definitely a surprise. Didn't really know what we were walking into. They have a lunch buffet and a dinner buffet for pizza, salad bar, pastas, taco rice, soups, fried chicken, fries, and of course Ice cream. The pizzas are different if you haven't had any japanese pizza yet. But everything was good. The paid time of about ¥1800 per person was 90 minutes to eat. Will be back for sure.
Rylan K — Google review
This is an all-you-can-eat buffet for ¥1500, so when I give it 5 stars, it's good for what it is. I had pizza, pasta, curry rice, salad, drinks, ice cream and fruit for dessert. I thought it was a very good value lunch. We sat outside on the deck and saw some horses go by. Free parking and rest rooms.
Steve C — Google review
I've been here more than 10 times over the past few years, but everything just got worse. The quality of the ingredients used in the food has been downgraded, the price had gone up from ¥1000 to approximately ¥1200, the taste became too plain, the restaurant itself is dusty, and half of the food is always cold due to the fact thay they don't warm it up or change it. However, it is a good choice of restaurant if you are looking for a cheap buffet and to enjoy the stunning sunset at the same time.

Hanagasa is a charming eatery within the store premises, boasting a delightful selection of delectable Okinawan sweets such as the Beni-imo tarte. This particular dessert hailing from Okinawa is known for its exceptional flavor and is highly recommended for anyone looking to embark on an exquisite culinary journey. It's an absolute must-try offering that embodies the essence of Japan's regional cuisine.
Everything Okinawa at super priced. All self service tablet ordering and self checkout. Not much to say about service. They bring the food. Goten Soba house specialty. Three kinds of pork, kamaboko fish paste, amazing twisted hand made noodles. You'll drink every drop of the delicious soup. Side of rice, sour seaweed and a sesame ball treat with purple sweet potato bean paste. Less than 8$. Lots and lots of other choices. Don't miss it. Huge souvenir place next door with even more treats. Excellent.

Food was pretty good, I just thought maybe the pork cutlet was slightly drier than what I'd like but I liked the ratio of meat and batter! Portions and prices were good. Free wifi there so that's convenient.

Highly recommend the butter grilled fish and bitter melon stir fry with tofu and egg. The ingredients are fresh and cooked deliciously. The dining area is clean and cozy. Price is also reasonable.

Okinawa is one of the blue areas in the world. The regional food culture close to the sea is rich in many special "treasure algae". This time I tasted "sea grapes" in Naha. This is the edible seaweed Caulerpa lentillifera distributed in the tropical waters of Okinawa. It is called "green caviar" because of its appearance and crisp taste. The small wafers are transparent and very thin and are strung together into one plant. It is regarded as a representative specialty of Okinawa.
Ling C — Google review
Very lovely atmosphere. Ate both lunch and dinner on different days. For dinner we arrived a bit late, and didn't know a reservation was needed, but the staff were very nice and let us eat anyway, despite the place being full. The food was very good, and a good place to try the typical Okinawan food.

Restaurant
The izakaya restaurant, マジュン・リッカ, is a charming establishment housed in an old folk house. It offers a delightful menu for children, showing their thoughtfulness towards families. The staff are attentive and the dishes they serve are both unique and delicious, making it the perfect spot to enjoy the last night of a trip to Okinawa. Their fried chicken is particularly noteworthy as it defies expectations with its incredible taste.
One of the best if not the best restaurant. A 10 out of 10 place. We radomly ordered from the google map pictures since all the menues were in japanese, however everthing turn out fantastic. Fresh local catch sashimi, the stir fried noodle, slow cooked pork belly and all the fried dishes were amazing. The staffs were all nice and friendly espacially the main lady(probably the owner) was extremely lovely.

This place is not easy to find. The driveway is super narrow so you need to be a reasonably good driver. The ordering system is adequate but not so friendly for non Japanese folks like us. Still we managed to figure out using Google translate. It just took a little longer. Food here looked authentic Okinawa home cooked food. Food tasted good. My biggest gripe with this place is that they install a “Table charge” of 880 yen for 2 of us. Food here is already not cheap so I don’t understand the purpose of a table charge!

Absolutely a GREAT place to eat. As opposed to hotel food, here you get some authentic Okinawan/Japanese food. Not the cheapest place in this little town, but dishes are superb. Menus are Japanese only, so bring your Google lens. Fourth time to Japan this year and this is some of the best food I’ve had so far. Kudos to this little gem. Tip: get the little red fish, cut out first as sashimi and once done, deep fried so you’ll be able to consume the crunchy rest. Bon Appetit.

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Yachimun no Sato, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Toguchi Beach. All together, your day would be filled with about 6 hours of non-stop fun.

Yachimun no Sato, also known as Pottery Village, is a charming co-op in Okinawa where you can explore numerous artists' studios and watch pottery demonstrations. The area has a rich history dating back hundreds of years, with workshops and kilns originally scattered across the island before being unified in Tsuboya district. Visitors can stroll through various pottery shops offering a wide range of handcrafted ceramics, from affordable pieces to more luxurious items.
Google Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Visited Yachimun no Sato pottery village in mid-January, and it was a wonderfully peaceful experience. The village has a charming atmosphere, with a good number of pottery shops showcasing a variety of beautiful and unique ceramics. The highlight for me was the traditional kiln, which was fascinating to see and learn about. This is an excellent destination for pottery enthusiasts or anyone who appreciates handcrafted art. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Okinawa!
Sakina D — Google review
This small pottery village is giving a great experience how traditional pottery I made in Okinawa. It is easily accessible and you can drive to each of the seperate shops directly. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a nice getaway in a very calm area.

There are a lot of different pottery stores run by different families but you are sure to find something to your liking. We were looking for a cup to put our electric toothbrushes and toothpaste in after each use and we found one we liked very much. We had been looking for days and at many different locations and stores. Well worth a visit to this area. Also there is an old kiln that seems to be in disuse but I’m not sure about it. Maybe it wasn’t being used at the time we visited.
Scot S — Google review
My go-to when I want unique pottery and shisa/ishiganto. There are a lot of stores in the area. So wear comfortable shoes, put on sunscreen, and make sure you pop into every store. Each store has its own unique style of pottery. Their themes seem to change, so it's best to keep going back to see the new designs that the artists come out with. There are a lot of pieces from knick knacks, chopstick rests, plates, bowls, cups, serving trays, ishiganto, and shisa. You're sure to walk away with something
Kristin B — Google review
The traditional kiln is great to see. Everything around is quite average. Pricing is quite high. The glass workshop was probably the most interesting as you can observe the staff glass blowing
Vincent T — Google review
Fantastic place to spend an hour or two if pottery interests you. The prices ranges from reasonable to quite expensive. There is a tea house that serves red bean shaved ice if you need to cool down. Lots of parking spaces available.

Cool place with many potteries - from designer to traditional- if you want to bring Japanese Art go there you will love it
Hatti D — Google review
There were a number of pottery shops, conveniently located within a short stroll from one another. There was an extensive collection of handcrafted ceramics, ranging from the modestly priced to the luxurious. I spent around 2 hours looking around. A good place for souvenir shopping to remember Okinawa or a gift to give to someone else. There are lots of friendly cats here. Also, there are public bathrooms.

Banjutei is a charming local soba restaurant in Okinawa with a nice and appealing vibe. They offer delicious handmade soba at reasonable prices, served with good quality pork. The establishment has a traditional Okinawan decor and music, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dining. While there may not be an English menu, the pictures are helpful in making selections. The wait time is minimal and there are plenty of seats available, making it suitable for families with kids.
English menu available on the ordering machine. The purple cold noodle is a must! Spare ribs are also delicious.

My Okinawan mother’s favorite suba (that’s how Okinawan’s pronounce it) place! Everything from scratch and their ginger is fresh without the red dye! We always finish with nothing left in the bowl! They even have a vending machine for take away!
Sylvia M — Google review
The place was welcoming and easy to order with a english menu. Tried a variety of their noodles and all were really good. The meat was cooked so well that it melts in your mouth. The soup broth was just the right umami. Will definitely come back here again!

As English speakers, it wasn’t hard to order at all. The waitresses were super patient and helped us with ordering from the machine and collecting the food. The pork soba (2 types of pork ribs) was amazing and the pork was basically falling off the bone?? Love! The noodles were fresh and chewy and the broth is great. Highly recommend!

Able to eat okinawa soba is pretty nice. Parking lot is across the street. Have english menu. Vibe is nice and very appealing. Food is beyond what i expected. Cafe
Coffee shop
Bloom Coffee Okinawa is a charming coffee spot located in Yomitan Village, Central Okinawa. The village is renowned for its pottery, beaches, castle, agriculture, and lighthouse. With a population of nearly 41,000 residents, it's the largest village in Japan. The café offers delicious coffee and decaf options along with homemade food like French toast breakfast and chicken cream sandwiches.
Beautiful little garden coffee and cafe area. Delicious coffee, I love the caramel latte, Okinawa brown sugar and purple sweet potato latte - so hard to pick a favorite. Their French toast is made from local bakery baguettes and it’s so soft and flavorful - the kids love it. Their basil chicken sandwich is spiced perfectly (no heat). We also buy our espresso beans here! Some of the best we’ve found on island.
Nadia M — Google review
Definitely would recommend their French toast whereby they use baguettes instead of the usual bread loaf; adds an interesting twist to the dish. BLT was simple but on point too. For drinks, please try the Okinawa Brown Sugar Latte, amazingly done. Overall ambience is really chill with garden vibes and staff are all welcoming. You can sit at the counter top and interact with their friendly baristas. If you sit outdoor, you can bring your pet dogs along too I assume. They do sell coffee beans as well as some of their own merchandise. Limited parking is available at the back of the cafe apartment. Do check them out if you happen to be around the area!
Kenneth Y — Google review
The same owner runs this Bloom Coffee location as the other one, but the menu is completely different. After trying both, I personally prefer the other shop more. The staff here was very nice; however, most of the food wasn’t satisfying. The standout item was the banana smoothie, followed by the egg sandwich. One thing to note is that the interior setup is quite cramped. While it has a nice, relaxing vibe, there are so many items on the floor that it’s hard to feel comfortable. I even had to move a bag of what I believe were seeds just to adjust my chair.
Anthony S — Google review
Bloom coffee is such a cute cafe where you can enjoy your coffee and brunch. They make most of their things by their own and regional food which is nice. Also the coffee tastes so good, I ordered a brown sugar latte in large and the size really was large! I ordered a BLT sandwich and it was full of flavor! We visited twice during our five day stay in Okinawa. Really worth a visit here.
Tim — Google review
Very beautiful cafe with amazing coffee and shakes/ smoothies. We had a cappuccino, a peanut butter banana shake, a vegetarian - there are some veggie options here!! :) - a BLT sandwich and the pancakes. All was super delicious. Staff is also very welcoming. We went twice already and will be sure to come back when on Okinawa again!
Lena H — Google review
We loved everything we tried. The latte drinks are well balanced and the food is good. The staff is friendly and helpful. Pay attention to the parking diagram in the menu book (I also uploaded a photo) if you aren't local. You'll be parking in front of other people, but a server will let you when you need to move for someone.
KJ M — Google review
They roasted their own beans, with variety of choice to choose. It feels homey and cozy, also the owner is kind and friendly. I bought a shirt from their shop too. Love it 😍
Like W — Google review
Cozy coffee shop that serves limited breakfast choices ( French Toast, oatmeal pancakes, granola bowl. smoothies...) and some sandwiches (veggie, BLT, Chicken, and a few more). They roast their own coffee, and have a pretty good selection of beans that you can choose for a pour over. The staff are very friendly and foster a welcoming atmosphere. The parking is a little tight. It's located in the back of the restaurant, and cars park behind each other--kind of an inconvenience when you're leaving, are blocked in, and you have to track down the car's owner so you can get out. Other than that, the service is great, the coffee and food is good, and the atmosphere is welcoming. A nice little coffee shop we'll visit more often.

Sango Batake, a coral farm run by Zukiya san and his father, is an impressive venture that cultivates 120 varieties of coral. Despite being damaged by typhoons in 2018 and 2023, the farm continues its conservation efforts. Visitors are treated to crystal clear waters and lush greenery surrounding the farm. The friendly staff shares insightful facts in English while showcasing the growth of their coral and engaging guests in feeding fish and sea turtles.
Highly recommend visiting this coral farm. Very cheap and a great experience. You can feed the sea turtles and fish, there’s a touch tank, and you can learn a lot about this fantastic local reef restoration program. They’re breeding UV resistant corals and lizards to help restore the ecosystem. All money from tickets seems to go towards their work here. As a bonus, the location is right next to a beach with a stone lookout you can walk on, and close by many restaurants/shops for a break.
Georgia S — Google review
Amazing small aquarium!! The workers and owner is extremely nice. They explained their story behind building this aquarium and it’s almost more like a sanctuary rather than aquarium. I have high respect for the people here. They have two sea turtles that they saved and are rehabilitating so they can go back out to sea. Their exhibit is beautiful and set to their environment perfectly. You can tell all the fishes and animals are taken care of with great love. Compared to Churami or other big Aquariums, I recommend here and it feels more ethical. You’re also paying for a good cause and it’s cheap for what it is. Totally recommend!!! Kid friendly as well!! Please support them and give this place some love.

I had the best time visiting. The entrance fee is 900¥ for adults and you learn and see so much. I was fascinated to discover the story of their miracle coral - in fact it gave me hope and inspiration for coral conservation and maintains the health of the oceans ecosystems. The turtle feeding is a nice bonus too and they had a baby white tip reef shark that would have happily joined in the feeding but I only had one fish to give. I am so impressed with their efforts I made an additional donation on my way out as it is a small token of appreciation for all the work they are doing. I highly suggest you visit this place!

This was a really cool little coral conservation area. It was 900 yen per adult and 300 yen for children 6+. Children 5 and under were free 😊. We were able to feed an eel and 2 sea turtles! There were a lot of beautiful orchids and other flowers in there as well. The area surrounding it was very pretty and fun to explore.

It’s location is so beautiful 😍 Crystal clear teal waters and green vegetation surround this little hidden gem. The staff was so friendly, lots and lots of fun facts in English. It’s beautiful seeing their coral grow. I love how they are helping rebuild the reefs. We really enjoyed feeding the fish and sea turtles. We ended up going back for more fish food. The blow fish was so cute spitting water at us 😂 My 11 year old son even loved it and he’s usually wanting to go home.

Toguchi Beach in Yomitan, Okinawa is a picturesque sandy strip adorned with tuftlike rock formations, making it a popular spot for swimming, snorkeling, and photo shoots. The beach offers clear visibility for activities like diving and is known for its opportunities to go snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Additionally, the area is recognized as a hub for Yachimun pottery and features attractions such as Zakimi Castle offering panoramic views of central Okinawa.
Really lovely spot! Would recommend. Here is some information that I think is helpful to know in advance: Great for snorkeling. Lots of fish, starfish, crabs, and hermit crabs. Has free toilets (no soap) and ¥200 showers (no soap). Has a great restaurant. Has a mini shop but it's more geared towards selling raw meat than anything touristy. Bring footwear you can walk on in beach and in the water. The water does not get deep, 1-2m. The beach is mostly dead corals and stones, not soft sand. There is roofed seating spaces. It was not too busy, the water was free. Most other visitors just BBQ in the seating area. There is walks nearby. There is convenience store15 mins walk away, but the beach had ice-cream and drinks vending machines. I could easily spend a day here and I like to keep busy. I hope you enjoy.

If you want to swim here you’ll need aqua shoes! I tried swimming barefoot and it hurt so bad 😂 Don’t make the same mistake as me! But honestly it was perfect❤️ lots of fish and such a beautiful view. I’d totally recommend it if you love exploring! I’ll definitely go again and try snorkeling next time 🐠🌊

Great local beach if you don’t mind swimming at your own risk. November 2023 my daughter was stung by a box jellyfish in the shallow water just a couple feet from shore. When we made other swimmers aware, some got out of the water and some chose to stay. The reason we’ve given it 2 stars, is because the staff made a point to go to the swimmers who had removed their young children from the water and told them it was safe to still swim and, that it was NOT a Box jellyfish. Which was a lie. It is now feb of 2025 and my daughter is still physically scarred. The stings will occasionally still flare up and burn. Box jellyfish are deadly! We love Toguchi beach, but safety has to be a priority, lying to the public just to protect your image is not the way to go!

Beautiful little beach! Surprisingly, not so crowded, which is very nice, it has a nice little trail you can take if you want to walk around and take pictures. There is plenty of space for a picnic.

Great place to watch the sunset. A limestone and ground down corals beach as many others on the island. The water is not fenced off but it's not suitable for swimming as it is very shallow. Bring some sort of shoes to get into the water. The water gets incredibly warm. Adorable looking rocks standing out in the water. There are places to sit in shade. Kiosk and bathroom nearby.

Kinchichi Soba is a local favorite in Okinawa, known for its exquisite noodles made from locally grown wheat. The small joint offers a cozy setting with seating for about 20 people and serves up delicious soba with perfectly balanced soup and toppings. What sets it apart is the unique meat presentation, with cha-shu on top and pulled pork on the side. While not English-friendly, visitors can use a push-button system to order their meals.
A lovely small soba shop who’s staff was welcoming and pleasant. The Kinzuki Soba was fragrant and flavorful, one of the best soba I’ve tasted on Island. Make sure to bring cash, the ticket vending machine only accepts cash. Came in on a slow Saturday, so there was no wait. Will come again

Dropped by around 3PM thinking we'd skip the lunch rush, but still had to wait behind 5 groups - this place is popular! 🍜 Pro tips: Write your name on a list first, then buy your meal ticket once you're called They can choose different noodle portion sizes - I went with "small" but kinda regret it now 😅 "Regular" would've been perfect! Ask for extra soup for free if you want. They have several locations around Okinawa, and now I get why they're so popular! The broth was delicious - ended up drinking it all 🤤

The food is absolutely phenomenal. We really enjoy the ramen and rice. Everything is good! There is parking across the street. I had to wait for a parking spot, but it only took about 5 minutes. This place gets busy. We went on a Sunday afternoon and waited in line for about 20 minutes. It was worth the wait. The restaurant has another location in Gala, which is a nice place to visit for the beach and horses. Bring yen!!!

Located in Yomitan north of Kadena gate 1 on Hwy 58. This is a small but very good Soba restaurant. There's a counter and around 7 tables to sit at. Payment is made by machine, a staff member will help you if you have any issues. The menu is a nice mixture of Soba and rice. The Staff is very friendly and helpful. There was around a 30 minute wait to get seated. Tourist flock to this restaurant, pick the day you visit wisely. Sunday afternoon was busy, the restaurant closes at 4om. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant and experiencing the unique taste.

Cafe Nanairo no Kaze is an adorable coffee shop with stunning views that few people know about. It stands out for its ample parking space, which is a rarity among small cafes. I enjoyed their fried fish with tomato sauce set and black rice, accompanied by various tasty sides. They also have a beautiful pond where you can buy fish food to feed the fish. The cafe seems to be kid-friendly, as many children were present and they even offer a special menu for kids.
This place was so, SO cute. The ladies working were very friendly, and there was a small menu which made the choice easy. The interior of the cafe is relaxing and clean. Air conditionings were on and it was quite comfortable. The view outside was superb. Fried chicken and fried fish sets were wonderful (chicken was a bit superior!) and the grain coffee and ginger ale were amazing. For two sets and two drinks, lunch was quite expensive at ¥4100. This is a bit of a drive for most, too, so it's definitely a special experience! Will go back with guests.

Cute cafe with beautiful scenery was literally a hidden gem! There is ample parking - a rarity for many little cafes. I had the fried fish with tomato sauce set and black rice that came with an assortment of small sides. Outside you could buy fish food for ¥100 to feed the fish in the pond. Seems to be kid friendly as well - many kids were there while I dined and there is a kid set listed on the menu. Cash only. I didn’t try the desserts, but they looked delicious in the case. I would arrive early though as it seemed quite popular and several people walked up and saw there were no tables and walked away.

HANAHANA, a buffet restaurant, offers a picturesque setting with an incredible oceanic backdrop. The cuisine is delightful and reasonably enjoyable; however, given the cost, it would have been preferable to have a more diverse selection of dishes available. Additionally, the dessert section seemed disappointingly limited with only a sparse assortment of fruits offered; one would anticipate higher quality fruits for the price paid. Nevertheless, HANAHANA provides a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere that caters well to families.
Very good and extensive lunch buffet. Dim sum is of decent quality. Sushi is limited but also decent. Lots of vegetable offerings. Nice ambience. Attentive service. Reasonably priced. Good for families with kids, or people with very taste. We will be back!

The buffet is good for the price. I absolutely love the ocean view in the background, the Italian style venue and the fresh dimsum. They also have pasta, pizza and shabu shabu which are all amazing. The only thing that didn't cut my favorite list was the sushi bar, the quality is not that great. Tip: They charge for parking so make sure you ask them to validate your ticket.

Beautiful location with an awesome view of the ocean, and food was really good, but for the price I would have liked a wider variety of food to choose from. Also, the desert section was very small, and only a few fruits to choose from, would have expected better fruit for the price.

Syokudo and Teishoku restaurant
Yomitanzansoba is a popular eatery known for its delicious Okinawa soba and other menu options. The place is always busy, indicating its reputation among locals. It offers various types of Okinawa soba, such as Regular, Soki, and Nakami. Despite the small size of the restaurant, the picture menu makes ordering easy and the staff are friendly and helpful.
My favorite Tonkatsu set!!!! Great Okinawa style food, concise menu, but well presented with friendly service. The parking is a bit tricky tho!
Ronny D — Google review
Went here for a quick lunch , very disappointed because there wasn’t any taste at all neither in soba or the Tonkatsu , which it’s usually really good … but very thing was really blend so I had to order some salt from the kitchen , lady said as really nice and gave it to me right away . Unfortunately I am never going back there .

They are always busy but it's because they are so good. Very family friendly and they will try to help accommodate your kids as best as they can. The Soba is some of the best in the area with a good bonito dashi stock. This is one of our favorites in the Yomitan area.
Caleb S — Google review
Fantastic little traditional Okinawan shokudo, great place to stop for lunch!
Chris L — Google review
Humble mom and pop soba shop with kind servers. Soba will have more of a dashi bonito type flavor in comparison to some of the meatier type sobas, but was definitely a good change in pace. No English but the picture menus make it simple to order if you need it.
Reden S — Google review
There's a reason this place is always packed. Want to know where the good eating spots are in an unfamiliar locale? Follow the locals. I'm a Okinawa soba freak so I can't speak for the other items on their menu but this is one of the best spots for the main varieties of Okinawa soba—Regular, Soki and Nakami. The place is small, so you'll probably have to wait for a seat, but it'll be well worth it. Picture menu makes it easy to order and friendly staff are always close by to help. Stop eating soba at the food court. Go out and try the real stuff!

Great place, good price for Niku Soba, Ankake Yakisoba, Tofu Chompuru, and Fu Champuru. Small with only 4-seated tables and 3-Tatami tables. They also have a couple tables outside.

Day 3

Proximity is everything
For day 3, we bundled attractions like Torii Beach and Sobe Beach and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

Torii Beach is a serene and less crowded beach with a long stretch of shoreline. While the beach may have an abundance of shells and coral, making it less ideal for sunbathing, it offers great opportunities for exploring coral reefs during low tide, where one can encounter various marine life. The availability of rental amenities such as chairs and kayaks adds to the convenience.
Never too crowded, has a water slide and sprinklers for kids, there’s a company that rents out bouncy houses for parties and covered picnic areas… also a cute camping area close by with grills and tables. Beach is clean and tide is calm.
Meira R — Google review
Great beach! Very open area and relaxing. Can also take up seating places. Low tide gets REAL low, water feels good, mostly clean. Make sure to wear sandals or swimming gear on your feet. Have kayaks for rent!
Gedanny V — Google review
A great beach for military members and their families to visit. You can rent spots along the beach and equipment from the recreation center. It can get crowded so I'd advise reserving a spot if you want to have a whole day there, especially on the weekends.
David B — Google review
This is a beautiful beach and campground. We enjoyed our time here with friends and family. The campgrounds and beach are well kept. The bathrooms and showers are clean. There are a lot of things you can rent to have fun on the beach or at your campsite.
Desiree M — Google review
The beach is clear, spacious, and beautiful, making it the perfect spot for a day by the water! Nearby, you'll find a small restaurant, a large water slide, and various amenities. Camping spots are available at one end of the beach, and they are currently constructing small cabins at the other end. All around, one of the best beaches in the area and it's only available to people with base access.

Located near the water, Song Bird Cafe offers a tranquil and pleasant atmosphere surrounded by beautiful greenery. The cafe has ample parking shared with Jakkepoes Pancakes, making it convenient for visitors. With two dining areas, including a more secluded small room, the cafe provides a cozy and beautiful atmosphere to enjoy a unique menu served on local ceramic pottery. Customers can indulge in delicious breakfast options like the Songbird Breakfast presented on a board at reasonable prices.
Food is phenomenal, got the omelette rice with beef, 10/10; poki bowl 10/10, and a margherita pizza all to share. Lots of love put into the food. Can take a little time to get food, but absolutely worth the wait. Will definitely come back here.

I’ve been living on Okinawa for almost a year and a half, and for some reason I never stopped in here. It’s a wonder how many other things I’m missing out on. This was a beautiful spot to have breakfast. The coffee was delicious. Staff was amazing and I really enjoyed the food. I’m not even hungry, but I took some stuff to go because I know I’ll enjoy it later.
Henry G — Google review
This was a cute cafe off the beaten path. It is dog friendly seating outside that is covered offering shade for the dogs. There were mosquitos biting me though and the neighbors dogs barked consistently at my dogs the entire time. The food was good. The service was kind and respectful. They supported me ordering sides for my dogs. The coffee and the mango juice was delicious.

Tried out this brunch spot that's near the water. We appreciated the extra parking lot which had many spots. It's on the way there. They share it with jakkepoes pancakes. The parking lot is a little bit of a walk, but not much. From what we could tell there were 2 dining areas. The main dining area looks much nicer than the small room we ended up placed in, though it's more secluded. I ordered the songbird breakfast because of the photos I saw in the reviews showing it was presented on a board. I found out it does not always get presented on a board. Ours arrived on a regular plate. Everything was good, no complaints, but I wasn't wowed by my choice. Its a very place to eat, and the easy parking is definitely a bonus. They take all manner of cards here including ax.
Wai C — Google review
The staff were very quick, attentive and friendly. They have an English menu if needed. The food was delicious and I highly recommend their caffè mocha. I liked that they have a bin for your used slippers when you leave so you always get to wear clean slippers around the cafe. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu.
Fernando — Google review
The shop it is nice and clean, has limited parking. The staff is friendly and polite. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. Breakfast is a little bit better than the lunch menu. The pork cream was bland. Their coffee and ginger drinks are good. The outdoor seating is covered and dog-friendly. However the house next to the café has 2 dogs and bark constantly. The smaller dog hops over the fence, so be careful if you bring your dog. The staff said their neighbor’s dogs don’t bite or come close to the shop’s outdoor seating but one can never predict a dog’s reaction especially when they bark and growl at anything that moves. I personally like their old location and old menu better.
A H — Google review
Delicious food with different options to choose from. I got the chicken over rice and it was very good. The coffee options were also really good. Seating is kind of limited to get there early or just be ready to wait for a spot to open up. There is open parking up the road which is really easy to park in and is not a long distance to walk to the restaurant

Beautiful and delicious local Okinawan restaurant! They serve a variety of local specialties from a very well-priced set menu, offerings change seasonally. Nestled in the serene Yomitan village, Jakkepoes Pancake House has been delighting patrons since its inception in 2008. This charming eatery is renowned for its signature pancakes and a variety of American breakfast staples served all day long. The inviting atmosphere makes it a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike, creating that warm feeling reminiscent of enjoying a meal at a friend's home.
The best pancakes that I’ve tried. It was a bit hard to find this place. You will understand if you start driving around Okinawa. There are so many streets tangled like a bunch of string. Once you get lost you have to drive around the same streets over and over until you finally get there. That’s why the food must even taste better cause that’s what you get after having a tough time. 😹 however this pancake was so good no matter how much I suffered to get here. The excellent service and the vibe was good as well. I’m definitely coming back.

My spouse and I have been frequenting Island Gelato & Cafe Isola for a year now, and it continues to be our preferred destination. The gelato is truly exceptional, with an extensive range of flavors that never disappoints. Additionally, the food offerings are scrumptious; I highly recommend trying their gorgonzola pasta if you ever get the opportunity. The owners of this establishment are also remarkable individuals who always make us feel welcome, even after extended absences.
Great place to visit for a peaceful lunch. My wife and I like to visit when the kids are at school and we have the day off. Good service and love the food. Go all out and get gelato while you are here!
Rylan S — Google review
We actually plan to have ice cream there as we did not know that there is a food menu until the lady to ask if we are having ice cream or food. So we asked for the menu and there was about three choices. I am vegetarian and so we ordered the pasta and it was customized to all veggies. As we were sharing the menu so we order a lunch set which includes a drink and a salad! The pasta was delicious and of course the ice cream was really really good! They have quite a few favors which was hard to choose from. Do note you can try the favors before deciding! In the end we went for dragonfruit and pistachio! It was yums!!! I could have more of it! The staff which I think is a couple is super friendly! The wife would be in front manning the cashier and ice cream counter while the husband is in the kitchen cooking! We order double favors and the wife gave us one/two more favors at the side to try!!! Really enjoyed the food, ice cream and service there.

5 stars, Nice cozy place, I come here for lunch sometimes and always enjoy the lunch sets. Everything feels pretty fresh, and tasty. I dont always feel full since the portions aren't that big. That's why I typically get some gelato or tiramisu. Place is not that large so don't bring a mob of people.

My husband and I have been here a year now and this is still our favorite place to go. The gelato is amazing! There hasn't been a flavor we did not like. All of the food is delicious but if you get a chance to try the gorgonzola pasta I HIGHLY recommend! We are never disappointed when we come. The owners are wonderful too. They always remember us even if it's been a while.
Nicole T — Google review
Cute place for kids near Torii Station, a little hard to find though. They had a nice little gelato selection, and you could choose between a cup or waffle cone. They also put little “puffball” things as a sort of decorative garnish, but those didn’t really have much of a taste. With each serving they give you a small spoonful sample of another flavor, so you can at least try that one you were thinking about (but ultimately decided against). I noticed there was a also very small room in back that served as a sort of mini-cafe, and they offered espresso shots for those who sit back there. Finally, they had a potentially very nice little picnic table area to sit and eat our gelato behind the store, but unfortunately the mosquitos starting landing and we had to evacuate back to our cars.

Hacksaw Ridge, located in Okinawa, is a historically significant and peaceful destination that offers friendly trails and numerous monuments to explore. Accessible via a 20-minute monorail ride to Urasoe-maeda Station followed by a brief uphill walk, it's recommended to use "Hacksaw Ridge Parking" on Google Maps for easy access. The site features landmarks such as Hacksaw Ridge and Urasoe Castle, with visible but inaccessible old tunnels.
Hacksaw Ridge Park in Okinawa is a powerful and humbling experience. As I walked through the park, I felt a deep sense of reverence and respect for the history that unfolded here. The rugged terrain and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean made me feel like I was standing on the front lines of one of World War II's most pivotal battles. The park's memorials and exhibits brought the stories of the soldiers to life, and I felt a lump in my throat as I reflected on the sacrifices made here. The views from the ridge are breathtaking, but it's the sense of history and sacrifice that truly makes this place special. A must-visit for anyone interested in history, war, or simply paying respects to those who served.
Robert L — Google review
Just visited Havksaw Ridge and Desmond Doss Point. You would not believe the number of graves that line the road as you make your way to the parking lot, from whence you still have a climb to the summit. Once at the top you know why this was such a strategic point for both sides (pay attention to the pano spots). The movie definitely portrays the summit differently. From his ascent point it is only about 40m to the opposite side, the majority of it moves left and right. There was a castle structure up there and cave system which provided the cover for the Japanese. If you make it to Okinawa, it should be a definite visit.
Guy J — Google review
Not terribly easy to find but worth the extra effort. Saw the movie Hacksaw Ridge on our flight to Okinawa and it was so meaningful to see the actual location. Use Google maps to go to the Hacksaw Ridge parking and other there are no obvious signs, wander up the hill and you will find it. The site is shared by an old castle and graves from Ryukyu Kings, There was also a nice older man with an ice cream shop directly adjacent to the parking lot behind the bushes. He was very friendly and kind!
Charles C — Google review
I’m more of a movie buff than a history buff so it was nice to see the real life location behind the movie. Though standing there in the quietness you can’t help but propel your mind into what happened here during the war. Not only for the lives saved but the lives lost.
Hguh I — Google review
Hacksaw Ridge was a great place to visit. I would recommend doing a little research on the battle here before going so you can get an understanding on how intense the battle here was. There are also many plaques around the area discussing the historical sites. The park has a lot of vegetation that makes you feel like you are in the middle of a rainforest and not the city. You could spend at least an hour walking around the park and looking at historical sites.
William V — Google review
I definitely recommend watching the movie either before or after just to grasp the magnitude or importance of this place. Definitely gave me a better picture of what happened at this historical site!
Nathyely M — Google review
A few areas of interest here including Hacksaw ridge and Urasoe Castle. Some of the old tunnels are visible but not accessible. Most the Hacksaw Ridge is covered by vegetation but still pretty cool to visit this place. Its about and hour to walk around and see everything.

Peaceful and historically significant location in Okinawa. When you're visiting this definitely somewhere you'll want to check out. The trails are very friendly and there are plenty of monuments and landmarks to look at. Safe for families as well, make sure when you're trying to get here you Google "Hacksaw Ridge Parking." If you simply search for this point or Desmond Doss point you will be led around the park versus into it.

Yomitan International Church

4.3
(19)
Non-denominational church
Yomitan International Church (YIC) is a place where people are challenged to grow in their faith and deepen their relationship with Christ. The pastors, Glenn and Sue, are described as being like parents to many members of the church, consistently pouring love and encouragement into their lives. The church is known for its passion for the word of God and belief in the active work of the Holy Spirit.
We absolutely love this Church. We have been going for 1 1/2 years and we can’t imagine going anywhere else. Pastor Daniel, Apostle Glenn, Apostle Sue are passionate for the word of God and believe that the Holy Spirit is working through us today. The church is active in the community. The services are in Japanese and English. Their kids ministry is growing. Glory to God!

I absolutely love this church and it's one of my favorites. We believe in the Holy Spirit, Trinity, Gifts, miracles signs and wonders. It's a Spirit filled church that welcomes everyone like family. Definitely very family oriented. Service is in Japanese and English which is great for foreigners and Japanese speakers. You're invited and should definitely come!

BLUF: they try to emotionally sell Jesus rather than preach the gospel. After being there for two hours with no discussion about the gospel or opening the bible, I left. The worship music is very nice and well put together. The worship music lasted about an hour. The next 20 minutes consisted with a testimony from an attendee for her healing followed by one of the church leaders giving thanks for large sums of money they've acquired from anonymous donations. Finally, at 1 hr and 30 min the pastor starts talking. He was a pastor who spent some time in Canada. He mainly discussed the things HE did with his ministry and the people HE helped. He said the phrase "I" more times than I could count. There was no discussion / ministry about how we're dead in sin, how Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for our sins, how none of us can come to God on our own. Their website does say these things, which attracted my attention. In practice, they don't seem to focus on the meat and potatoes of what the gospel really is. They're quick to say how wonderful God is and how happy they are, but they lack focus on WHO God and Jesus are and the "why" of worshiping him.

Yomitan International church has been a home away from home, a safe haven for me. Pastors Glenn and Sue have been like a dad and mom to me and many of us at YIC. Their deep rooted love for Christ is so strongly reflected in the way they consistently and tirelessly pour love and encouragement into our lives. The wisdom that God has blessed them in their many years in ministry is precious. Every time I come here and hear them speak or interact with them, I always walk away with nuggets of revelation from the word of God, building my faith to have a stronger walk. I am immensely blessed to know them and worship together with the amazing believers at YIC.

This Church is awesome! I'd definitely recommend coming and checking this place out! It's a great Spirit filled Bilingual Church, good for new believers and people looking for a church that feels more like home. Non denominational, Christian, family oriented and friendly atmosphere.
Sunny F — Google review
Definitely recommend checking out this church! It's in Japanese and English, starts at 10am. When I first went I felt welcomed and as I kept going I felt genuinely and continiously cared for and supported, I saw spiritual growth in myself, the people in leadership are always available if you need prayer and help. It's feels like family. One of the things I love about this church is that the worship is Holy Spirit led, you can feel and see that the worship team's heart is the Will and the desire of God. It's not just singing a song but really feel the presence of God. So grateful for this church. I'm back in the UK but if I return to Okinawa I would definitely want go back to this church and be more involved.

YIC is the type of church that I've been praying to be a part of. If you're looking for a church that's comfortable for your flesh, with a nice coffee bar, and a nice quick place to sneak in and out on a Sunday morning, this is NOT that place. The people at YIC will challenge you to grow in the depth of Christ which may at times make your flesh uncomfortable, but your soul will become more and more comfortable with the Holy Spirit. The best way I can describe a Sunday morning service is with one word: Alive.

I’ve known Pastor Glenn and Sue for many years and they’re more family to me some of my actual blood family. Spirit filled dual English/ Japanese Church. They have children’s church for toddlers all the way up to school age and a cry room right next to the main sanctuary for nursing mothers as well.

If you're planning a visit to the enchanting Murasakimura, make sure to include Top Marine in your itinerary! This diving center offers an unforgettable experience for both beginners and seasoned divers alike. With professional instructors like Misa and Jake leading the way, you can expect thorough pre-dive briefings that utilize clear diagrams to ensure everyone feels prepared. Misa's patience shines through as she guides divers with varying skill levels, capturing stunning underwater moments along the way.
Had a really good experience doing the fun diving with Top Marine Zanpa. My diving instructor was Misa and she was very professional as she explained very well during the pre-briefing with diagrams to illustrate clearly the whole session. Misa was also very patient and has good photo taking skills even though I have very clumsy diving skills. My photos turned out really well as attached. Overall, I had an enjoyable session. Few things to take note though: 1. May need to book really early as they might not have sufficient English speaking instructors to accomodate. 2. It is not the easiest to book with them through their website though it might be worth to try some 3rd party websites to help. FYI, I went to the office itself to book my slot but the staff attending was really nice as well. ^ ^ 3. Renting the camera was well worth the money as the instructor helped took photos of you during the whole session. 4. They have shower facilities but do remember to bring a towel and soap/shampoo(if you are particular)

Jake, the instructor, was exceptionally professional. The female staff also demonstrated a high level of professionalism. As a first-timer, the dive to see the whale shark provided a fantastic experience. Would recommend this group for the experience to anyone.
Ryan — Google review
Two juvenile whale sharks are kept in a net as an attraction. Very sad to see. We would have never booked this tour had we known that. Why do you keep these juvenile whale sharks in a net? How can they ever survive in the wild when they are adults?
MS — Google review
Highly recommend! Great team and atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Excellent service. I used the diving (SCUBA) and snorkelling services. I had a great time!
Z A — Google review
If there's heavy rain and lightning advisory, they still go out diving and snorkeling. There was no english speakers for the phone when I tried calling and don't expect a reply through email same day. They're very strict on the no refund or reschedule same day even if due to weather.

**DISCLAIMER** Did not book directly with Top Marine (was a trip through the base which was a lot more than Top Marine charges) so this rating is for what they (Top Marine) provided and boat. Will updated later once I’ve booked with them directly. Went to port 19 June 21. Top Marine: Pro: Has a shower area for females & males to utilize after your dive. Unsure if it’s a separate fee (some ports/business do charge) but we were able to use. Boat was sufficient enough for COVID mitigation with participants (14 ppl total). Water was hot and you will need to bring your own supplies (towel, body soap, shower shoes, etc.). They place a bucket by the stairs so you can wring/place your ocean water wetsuit/fins in. And a pole to assist in drying these items after you return to land. Total time of activity (leaving from port, snorkeling and returning): 40 minutes Con: the waiting area smells like smoke due to people smoking nearby—some employees/customers. Don’t forget to bring/take medication if you get sea/motion sickness. Also bring your GoPro/other devices to capture this activity. I’m not sure if photos are provided by business or if there is the option to purchase/transfer digitally.
Franki K — Google review
The diving coach is very patient, so that we can see the whale sharks up close when we are diving for the first time.
范莉君 — Google review
The net is bigger than the aquarium, so if you are OK with seeing the whale shark in the aquarium, then this is better in that sense. I did have misgivings beforehand, and still do. Staff are enthusiastic. It is a bit of an ordeal when the sea is rough, particularly if you are a novice at snorkeling.

Yomitan, a charming village in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, is known for its rich traditional culture and vibrant festivals. The annual Yomitan Village Festival, typically held in September or October, showcases the village's heritage through performances featuring the sanshin instrument and traditional textiles. One of the festival's highlights is a reenactment of a giant ship parade symbolizing the village's historical trade connections with China.

Ramen restaurant
Hachiren is an exceptional ramen restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience with its delicious noodles and flavorful broth. The establishment, situated on the third floor, may require some effort to locate as it is slightly hidden. However, the search will be well worth it as Hachiren boasts a clean and inviting atmosphere. To order, customers can simply use the self-explanatory machine that conveniently accepts card payment.
English menu available via the credit card-friendly ordering machine at the entrance. Once you’ve retrieved your food tickets from the machine, simply hand them to the friendly staff and find your preferred booth seat. They also serve non-alcoholic Japanese beer. Highly recommend the ume tsukemen. The noodles are super chewy (the perfect texture!) and the broth is refreshing and flavourful. You will find the restaurant on level 3, next to a radio station. The area is quiet at night, so don't be alarmed if you don't see anyone nearby at the building entrance.

Worth the 35-minute drive—easily one of the best ramen spots on island. The staff are friendly, the vibe is calm, and the food is excellent. Tsukemen – 8.3/10 Great flavor and noodle texture. I just wish the broth was hotter (or maybe thats how its supposed to be and the Gaijin in me is use to it being hot😅). Ramen – 9.4/10 Rich, savory broth with perfect noodles. Gave me cozy chicken noodle soup vibes with a porky twist. Definitely coming back.

Real ramen experience!! Come quick, they sell out fast! Wonderful put together ramen experience, staring with daily home made noodle, delicious broth, freshly fried dumplings, and a lovely seating arrangement that doesn’t sweat you out! On top of that the staffs are extremely friendly, wait time is reasonable, and price is quite good. I am wish the noodle were a bit more but it is absolutely worth it, just the smell along is!

すごい! The home made noodles have a delicious texture and flavor! The stock is very tasty! Spice isn't too hot, very flavorsome. Use a tablet to order food, and an automatic check out.

A hidden gem in a community center next to a radio station!! Bottom line up front: go here if you haven't! The atmosphere, service, and ramen here are fantastic! The food is so flavorful and made to order. The staff seem to love being there. The background music is funky and eclectic. The prices are super reasonable. Oh yeah, and the food is so good! The only catches are: limited time during the day they are open, and some items may sell out of you get there late -- So go already!

So crazy delicious! I was speaking with the wife today and literally told her if I had a last meal request. This would definitely be a very, very strong contender. I haven't been here once and though meh😕. Oposite is true in fact, every time I've come I'm surprised just how unprepared my taste buds were for such a delight. I personally recommend the dip ramens over the regular ramens. I love bamboo shoots so always order extra. If you like ume plum taste you will love the "ume tsukemen". Because the wife and I love both we do what you can see in the picture and we order one of each and share both broths.
Alan Y — Google review
Found this place online e and had to try it. Ordered both the Ra-Jan-Men and the Ramen to try both flavors. My favorite was the spicy dipping noodles. The broth was perfect balance between umami and heat. Handmade noodles had great texture that grabbed the broth for optimal flavor. Staff were friendly but not versed in English so direct speaking was harder, but manageable. Atmosphere was light and enjoyable with open area seating and views of the kitchen. Definitely would recommend this as a place to eat. Did not have the gyoza but my friends said they are a go to item.
Mac M — Google review
So we LOVED this place. It was a little difficult to find- just know it is on the third floor of the building google maps sends you to! There is plenty of seating, you order from a machine (it has an English option), and the music took me right back to the roaring 20s. You can see the cooks preparing the meals and the service is fast and friendly. My bowl of ramen was Oishi!

This a really great restaurant! The food tastes great and it has a large parking lot which, in Okinawa, is worth a comment. Try the steak yakitori and the black bean edamame is amazingly good! Most of the tables are set-up lots of privacy, so it makes for a great date night spot, but they also have some larger tables for a group night out. Only downfall is they allow smoking inside, but if go earlier then you should be ok.

Restaurant
Izakaya Hariyun offers a diverse selection of food, including delectable fried chicken, beef tongue, sashimi, Okonomiyaki, and salads. They provide an English menu and serve popular beers like Orion draft. The restaurant has parking available in both the front and back. It is known for its exceptional sushi that surpasses even those served in Honshu, with generous portion sizes. The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and payment by card is accepted.
Took son out on a small fishing experience. Caught a few fish. Tour guides phoned a reservation for us and we passed our catch to the chefs. They prepared everything and we ordered a couple of other dishes. Fun and friendly. Son and I loved the experience.

We only go during lunch. And never been disappointed more than ten times. Fresh fish is our loved best value for us is the Hariyun bowl set but have tried several dishes. Highly recommend

Great sushi! Seriously, you should come to this hole-in-the-wall. The sashimi is better than what is served in Honshu and they don’t skimp on the portion sizes.

The wife and I stopped there for dinner. Very American friendly with English menus and signs. The fried chicken, seasonal seafood bowl, and Okinawan pork was delicious. We did order the caprese salad, but be warned. The caprese is tofu and cream cheese under the tomatoes instead of mozzarella and balsamic.
