Milwaukee

Milwaukee is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on Lake Michigan's western shore. It's known for its breweries, many of which offer tours chronicling its role in the beer industry. Overlooking the Menomonee River, the Harley-Davidson Museum displays classic motorcycles, including one of Elvis Presley’s. Nearby is the Milwaukee Public Museum, with its large-scale European Village and a recreation of old Milwaukee.

Wonderful museum with a fantastic collection and rotating special exhibits. Absolutely stunning building. Big enough to cover lots of artistic territory, but spacious and curated amazingly well so that you don't feel overwhelmed. Cafe on site. We spent about 4 hours there and saw about 75% of the exhibits. Strongly recommend.

One of the best museums in the country both inside and out and incredible views right on gorgeous Lake Michigan. Plan to have lunch at the awesome cafe overlooking the lake, which includes a patio. Collection is beautifully arranged with an incredible American modern collection, best in Midwest. I got a membership so I can walk over and do laps around the tunnels which overlook the lake and city! Cafe is excellent with perfect espresso, salads, wraps and subs, soups and wine, etc. Supporting the cafe supports the museum! Well done!

My boyfriend and I went to the art museum today to take pictures with his new camera. There were only a few spots we took pictures and were really respectful of those around us but we were followed on the lower level of the museum the whole time. We couldn’t go in a new section without a worker watching us. We were in no way doing anything that caused any disturbance to anyone or anything there…that kinda ruined the experience for us. Other than that the art is gorgeous and I have always loved art since I was a kid.

We come here about once a year. It's not something we normally plan to do, but think about it when we might be downtown for some other activity and find that we have some time. Always enjoy the building itself and the featured exhibits. This time they were showcasing some of the Bradley Collection. Another special exhibit (although much smaller in scale) was the "Reviving the Dance of Death." The docent suggested that we use the magnifier app on our phone to get a closer look — great suggestion! We never try to see everything, and usually have enough after one hour. The lower level parking is a great option if there are spaces available. The MAM is a nice amenity on our beautiful lakefront.

This museum is a dream come true. We traveled from Michigan for Summerfest and knew we had to go to this museum while we were in town! Our first impressions were just marveling at how beautiful it was. Even the underground parking is beautiful! For some reason the wings didn’t open at noon and flap, and we didn’t get to see them open at all this weekend which was such a bummer! The museum is fairly priced at $27, and this place is *huge*. We kept thinking we went through every room and just kept finding more art! We spent almost 3 hours here. The cafe is really nice for a quick bite and beautiful view. Just keep in mind they are cafe prices. I liked the gift shop but I wasn’t blown away. Overall you will see some great things at this museum and you’ll be happy you went!

Beautiful Spot by Lake Michigan The Milwaukee Art Museum is a stunning place for a walk along Lake Michigan. There’s a nice café with great views, and Discovery World plus two lovely parks are just a short walk away along the shoreline. Plenty of parking available — perfect for a relaxing visit.
Manuela ( — Google review
The museum is well appointed on the Lake Michigan shoreline. It already encompasses the threat of a future romantic destination. If you are a fan of Futurama, you will understand. Initially I intended to visit the museum to explore Calatrava's architecture, which I like. Culturally, it seemed essential to understand why it was positioned in Milwaukee, instead of Chicago. If you recall, the Chicago spire (project started but not completed) was a Calatrava design. Many, I believe, felt slighted by comparison. The project manifested versus the project lost. It was a blow for the birth of the skyscraper city. An old narrative now, but relevant, if only comically. I was not surprised for the setting to be naturally beautiful - you can feel the magnitude of Lake Michigan from inside and outside the museum. However, what shocked me was the glass work throughout the galleries. I was not expecting such an impactful collection, enough to inspire to revisit the topic of glass collecting as art in lieu of paintings. The restaurant needs improvement.

Museums
The Harley-Davidson Museum, located in Milwaukee, is a must-visit for motorcycle enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Established in 2007, this museum showcases the rich heritage of the iconic American brand, drawing over 350,000 visitors annually. Spanning 20 acres along the Milwaukee riverfront, it offers a captivating journey through more than a century of motorcycle culture and innovation.
A great museum showing the motors from Harley-Davison model 1, which is made in year 1903; also it shows special motors built for police, WWII armies, US mail, etc. the most exciting part is to ride on the newest models in the museum, also the hottest models. They are so cool. It is great to visit it with the children, they love watching a lot of motors and ride on the motors, they are so happy. The location is great, it is very near the Discovery Museum and Art museum, together can play for a whole day and have the great dinner and lunch next to the museum. The gift shop is also good to visit, there are 30%-60% off items, which is very good quality and reasonable price.

⭐️ A Legendary Ride Through Harley-Davidson History – A Must-Visit Iconic Museum! 🏍️🔥 I had an amazing time visiting the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee — an absolute dream for anyone who loves motorcycles, history, design, or true American culture. The entire complex is huge, beautifully designed, and perfectly placed right by the river, which adds a really cool vibe as you walk around the grounds. Even before stepping inside, you’re greeted by impressive outdoor sculptures and classic Harley details that immediately set the tone. Once inside, the experience only gets better. The museum showcases motorcycles from every era — from early 1900s originals to modern designs — each one displayed with great storytelling and historical context. You can easily spend hours walking through the exhibits, exploring legendary models, rare prototypes, and beautifully preserved engines. Everything is clean, well-organized, and very accessible. One of the highlights for me was the gift shop. It’s packed with awesome merchandise, collectibles, apparel, patches, and unique items that you won’t find anywhere else. Whether you’re a hardcore rider or just a traveler looking for a cool souvenir, you’ll find something worth taking home. The museum requires a ticket, but honestly, it’s worth every dollar for the quality of the experience. There are great photo spots, indoor and outdoor areas to explore, and even a restaurant on-site if you want to relax afterward. Overall, this place is a perfect stop for travelers, motorcycle fans, photographers, and anyone who loves American heritage. Highly recommended! 🛠️🏍️🇺🇸

So much better than expected. Two dads met up with their 9 year old girls and they had a blast. STEAM Day helped but it's set up so well that I'm sure they would have had fun without it. Nice place, easy parking when it's all not busy. Great food on campus. Can't wait to return. Maybe solo to really digest all the info

A Must-See in Milwaukee! The Harley-Davidson Museum is an absolute must-do when visiting Milwaukee. It beautifully tells the story of how Harley-Davidson began in 1903 in a small shed and grew into one of the most iconic motorcycle brands in the world. The exhibits showcase historic bikes, racing legends, and design milestones in a modern, engaging way. Right next door you’ll find a large shop — mostly apparel — and a great restaurant on the beautifully designed museum grounds. A perfect stop for anyone interested in innovation, craftsmanship, and American heritage.
Manuela ( — Google review
The Harley-Davidson Museum is more than just a place to see motorcycles—it’s a celebration of history, craftsmanship, and the spirit of the open road. Every exhibit is thoughtfully designed, from the earliest Harley models to the incredible stories of riders who made them legendary. Walking through the museum, you really feel the pride and passion that built not only a brand, but a worldwide community. It’s inspiring to see how Harley has touched so many lives and carried the idea of freedom across generations. Whether you ride or not, this museum is a must-see. It’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave.

An incredible experience for anyone who loves motorcycles design or American culture. The museum tells the story of Harley-Davidson with passion and authenticity from its early models to today’s innovations. Each exhibit is beautifully presented with vintage bikes rare memorabilia and interactive displays that make history come alive. The staff were knowledgeable and welcoming and the shop and café added to the overall charm. A must visit destination in Milwaukee that celebrates freedom creativity and the open road.

I thought this was a very nice museum. It’s filled with lots of iconic bikes that roll off the line. The only thing is I wish they would’ve had some of the customized bikes. I understand that the people customize them by their selves, but they’re usually customized with Harley Davidson parts.
Jody L — Google review
A great place to show their bikes from the very beginning of their production. They served Army, Postal, Medical, Police, Refugees and to take away pets or people. Visit it and know their bikes. I posted some important information as well.

Shopping
Milwaukee Public Market is a bustling marketplace located in the city's Historic Third Ward, offering a diverse range of local culinary delights. The industrial-chic setting houses numerous vendors selling everything from baked goods and cheeses to meats and fresh produce. Visitors can indulge in an array of prepared meals, including Thai sushi rolls, chicken Tikka Masala, specialty cupcakes, deli sandwiches, pizza, and grilled meats.
Visiting from Melbourne Australia and this is my second time here. This is a place that I would recommend everyone visit in Milwaukee, the market is small but it is diverse and capacious enough that there is likely something for everyone regardless of one's interests. There's a sense of movement in vitality pulsating throughout the market, and the clocks depicting the times in other great markets around the world is a bit of symbolism that feels earned. Yes, this place does feel about as culturally rich as the likes of Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne and that is a high compliment. This is probably the place one should go in order to experience the lifestream of the city, and all its earnestness and all its love of beer and cheese and many different varieties of meats. St Paul Fish Company is our go which is a particular specialty. Even vegetarians and vegans can find something to love and enjoy here: it's that large and cavernous.

Great food. So many options. I had blackberry crumble cupcake and it was divine. The spice shop has the most beautiful bottles with great selections and blend I bought several for presents. The restaurant up front was amazing. I bought fun tees as well

Loved it here! As a foodie, hearing there's an entire market jam packed with impeccable food, I was RUNNING - which isn't common for me. And it did not disappoint!!! Anything you could want is in there. You can easily waste way too much time in here picking through vendors. (Ask how I know) Sandwiches, seafood, asian cuisine, BBQ, coffee shops, spice shops, candy shops, ice cream, bakeries, florists, delis. There is seriously so much to try here. You need to check it out! Come with your wallet, you'll need it.
Alyssa F — Google review
this market was so quaint and adorable to visit! Prices seemed slightly high, although for most of the vendors being private, they have to fit the demands of inflation. The coffee shop was very nice, lots of availability for lunch and dinner offerings. Many options for parking garages, but you can definitely find on street parking if you search hard enough. Would highly recommend when traveling to the greater Milwaukee Wisconsin area!!!!!

This is a really fun and cool place to visit. All kinds of food to eat, to take home or eat there. They have a fish market, a deli, Mexican restaurant, coffee bar, liquor bar and so much more. So much to see taste and enjoy. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by.

Super cool place. All sorts of food vendors, whether you are looking to eat in the moment or take something with to cook at home later. Fresh meats and seafood, spice vendors, cheese and lots of great looking bakery. Ready to eat foods include smoked meats, a middle Eastern joint and many others. 2nd floor has a good sized seating area to eat, and picnic tables outside. Definitely stop here more than once.

If you're in the area, I would totally recommend checking out the Milwaukee Public Market! There are so many restaurants, food stalls, and unique shops to explore. It’s the perfect place to grab a bite, wander around, and support local businesses.

Sights & Landmarks
The Pabst Mansion is a gilded age house museum in Milwaukee, once owned by the famous beer family. Built in 1892 for Frederick Pabst, this Flemish Renaissance Revival mansion boasts a heavily ornamented stone exterior and an interior filled with intricate details. Saved from demolition in the 1970s, it now offers daily tours showcasing its 37 rooms and extensive art collection.
This tour was totally worth the price of admission! It started a bit late because the tour guide was waiting for everyone who had bought tickets to arrive, and then lasted over an hour. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and did great answering our questions. Sadly, not everything in the house is original but a lot was. Everything was thoughtfully curated to match the time period (early/mid 1890s) and the pictures of what was originally in the house though wallpaper/wall color is not completely restored. This is history worth preserving, and I'm so grateful the group continues their phenomenal work. I enjoyed learning about the early history of Milwaukee. I totally recommend this tour for visitors to the city as well as lifelong residents. There is a modern elevator and, I believe, a small restroom available for use on the first floor. Our group was 22 people, and we didn't have much trouble fitting in the rooms or any problem hearing the tour guide despite a lack of a microphone. Great experience! Also, easy, free street parking by the Milwaukee Rescue Mission.
Lynn R — Google review
Great tour of the Pabst mansion. The tour was led by a volunteer, Karen, and she was knowledgeable and informative. The house is being remodeled on the exterior but still open for tours. They offer discounts for seniors and students. Highly recommended while you’re in Milwaukee.
David F — Google review
Very nice tour. The docent was very knowledgeable about the history of the mansion, but I felt her delivery was rushed at times. Most likely due to the size of our group (we were split into two groups) and that there were other tours immediately following. The most disappointing thing about the tour however, is that the exterior of the mansion is completely surrounded by scaffolding which makes it impossible to get a sense of the grandeur of the architectural details. When I went to purchase the tickets online, there was no mention of it, but I guess since the tour is of the interior, they must not have felt the need to call it out on their site. Be sure to watch the video in the welcome center next door (the place you gather before the tour) as it contains so great information about the history of the Pabst family, the mansion and the other mansions on the block that have been destroyed.

Beautiful Historic Home The Pabst Mansion offers a rich, well-paced glimpse into Milwaukee’s past. An informative short film sets the context around Captain Frederick Pabst, his family, and the brewing-era prosperity that shaped the house. We opted for the self-guided tour, which lets you move at your own speed through elegantly restored rooms, period furnishings, and thoughtful exhibits. The mansion is in very good condition; note that the exterior façade is currently under renovation, but it doesn’t detract from the experience. Built in 1892 for the Pabst family, the residence later served as the Archbishop’s home before being preserved and opened as a museum in the late 1970s. The blend of architecture, social history, and careful restoration makes this an engaging stop — plan about an hour to enjoy the film, explore the interiors, and appreciate the craftsmanship.
Manuela ( — Google review
Highly recommend visiting this stunning mansion. We took a Sunday morning mimosa tour and our docent Genevieve was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable on not just the mansion and Pabst family but the entire era. The mansion interior is just phenomenal. The woodwork alone is breathtaking. The restoration they’ve taken on is impressive. We will be back when the outside is fully restored and will take the Behind the Scenes tour.

I attended the opening event for the Christmas decorations at the Pabst Mansion. The mansion looked beautiful and the staff / volunteers were excellent. I'm looking forward to returning with family to see the beautiful displays.
Katie D — Google review
We took the guided tour for $19.00. They do have military, senior, and student discounts. Don't go to the house check in at the gift shop first. Directly across from the gift shop is a free parking lot. The tour was right around an hour long. We got to tour all three floors of the mansion. They do have an elevator for guests to use. Our docent/ tour guide was great. She answered all of our questions and provided tons of information. When we went the front of the mansion was getting construction. It didn't affect the tour at all. After the tour we went back into the gift shop and bought a Pabst blue Ribbon ice cold beer. It was a great way to end the day. Everyone was super nice, and accommodating. I scheduled my tickets online their website is very easy to use.

A wonderful slice of American History. Thankfully this place was saved from the wrecking ball. It could have been another ugly modern US building or a parking lot. Well worth your time to visit. Also see the Pabst Brewery tour as a supplement. Learn how corporate mergers, greed, and acquisitions by private equity has destroyed another American Icon.

Museums
The Milwaukee Public Museum is a captivating destination for those interested in anthropology and natural history. With three floors of exhibits, visitors can explore a diverse range of attractions, including a butterfly garden. The museum boasts an impressive collection of 4 million specimens, featuring highlights such as a 14,000-year-old Hebior mammoth skeleton and the immersive 'Streets of Old Milwaukee' diorama that offers a glimpse into the city's early 1900s era.
We were so glad to visit this amazing museum. Sadly, we found out that it would be demolished and another one would be built. I hope the architects do a great job because this incredible museum has great exhibits, displays, and much art. You can spend the whole day there. Among our favorite exhibits were the Native Peoples, the European Village, the Egyptian exhibit, and the dinosaurs. We would love to go back and finish discovering the rest of the exhibits we couldn't visit. We are also glad to share with you that this museum is part of the reciprocity programs among science museums. We have a membership from the Science Museum of Minnesota, so we were able to attend for free. We highly recommend this place. P.S. To the ones planning on the design of the new museum, I hope you do a good job. Please preserve the gorgeous displays that already exist. The European village is filled with charming details that make you feel like traveling in time. There are other cute displays like a cat hidden in an alley that meows when you walk by.

This is hands down one of the coolest museums I have ever seen! The displays are top notch and full of interesting exhibits! My 15 year old said this is the closest she's ever come to enjoying history! Plenty of options for ADA compliance, plenty of exhibit topics to provide fun for everyone!

We all absolutely loved this museum!! Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond for us! Clean bathrooms which is always wonderful. There is so much to see and do you could spend a whole day here learning and exploring. Everything is so detailed and fascinating to look at. You can really see all the thought- time and hard work that went into the making of the museum. Learn about history and culture and so much more. There is even a butterfly room! Fun for all ages- three levels of fun. They even have a cafe on site and parking garage next door (fee). We had so much fun i can't wait to come again and spend more time exploring the museum.

Fun museum with some hidden gems that keep it interesting for everyone. From the butterfly exhibits to the rattlesnake in the Buffalo hunt, there's so muchto find and discover. The European village and the old streets of Milwaukee are one of the most unique exhibits I have seen at the many museums I've visited.

Totally surprised by the presentation of this facility. We came in skeptical but left impressed. The outside of the building wasn't appealing, so when we saw the displays we were shocked by the professional layout. Great artists have been a part of this, and sculptures could rival any other facility. Often, the displays had much more detail than necessary to make the point, and I, for one, appreciated that. We have visited many, many museums. This was one of our favorites.

Three floors- so a lot to see. We enjoyed the planetarium show the most. The butterfly room was also really cool! Ate lunch in the cafe. It was convenient and the pizza was pretty good. There’s a lot to learn about Milwaukee and it was an interesting museum.

Great museum, one of the better ones we've been to. Multiple time visitor, been visiting for 35 yrs. We drove from Michigan (6 hrs). My kids absolutely loved the dioramas, the dinosaur one and the buffalo hunt were visited a couple of times in our trip. The streets of old milwaukee was so cool, and great for teaching the cultural backgrounds. Sadly I've heard the museum is planning to remove all that, so this may have been our last time visiting.

Small plates restaurant
Odd Duck is a unique and lively restaurant that offers an ever-changing New American shared-plate menu and creative cocktails. The atmosphere is vibrant, reflecting the restaurant's energetic approach to food and drink. The chefs incorporate fresh local produce into their dishes, resulting in a diverse range of flavors and techniques from around the country and the globe.
Absolutely loved my experience here! When I visit a city, I love an adventurous foodie experience at least once where we can splurge and small plate restaurants are my favorite for doing just that. In a city where cheese and burgers are ubiquitous, we needed a break from typical American food and we got that and more at Odd Duck. The service was awesome from the host to the food runner (special shoutout to them) and our server. We ordered about 5/6 dishes as per our servers suggestion and I enjoyed every single one. We started with the chips and dip, the karretensalah, the hamachi crudo (as coursed by them) it was a good fresh start, my favorite being the crudo here then the salad was super fresh and I loved the touch of the apples. We went into the hot food after, which were the smashed potatoes coated in tahini and something sweet which was a nice tough to balance the savoriness and umami flavor of the tahini. Then we got the lamb manthi dumplings which were good but not as good as the Japanese beef short rib curry. So comforting and flavorful and rich! The pork belly was another favorite as well and I’ve never considered pairing with black eyed peas but it was awesome. For dessert, we got the crème brulee (a MUST HAVE) need I say more. And the chocolate ganache cake with meringue cookies, this was good but if you choose only one go for the crème brulee. The drinks we ordered were also very unique and flavorful. They have an extensive wine list which I enjoy but I felt like I was missing out if I didn’t order a cocktail and I’m glad I did. Overall, loved this experience and sad I don’t live in the Midwest anymore so my chances of returning are slim but I will recommend to anyone visiting Milwaukee.

Odd Duck is quirky and delightful. My partner and I went here for a birthday celebration, recommend getting a reservation. I loved all the duck decor. The staff was down to earth and kind. All of our food selections from the menu were adventurous but still accessible. The only thing I wish could have been better was the noise level. At some points it was overstimulating. That being said, once the menu rotates, we will be back.

We had an enjoyable dinner here. We had heard much about this place and we are happy we could make it for dinner during our short stay in Milwaukee. We ordered the board with cheese and charcuterie, the oyster mushrooms, the hamachi and two desserts. The hamachi dish and desserts were delicious. The board offered a great variety of cheese, salami and pate. The oyster mushrooms, while tasty, were much too salty. We opted to eat at one of their tables outside. It was much quieter.

Easily our favorite spot in Milwaukee! I love their rotating menu and the creative food fusion dishes — everything always feels fresh, unique, and full of flavor. The drinks are not only tasty but beautifully crafted, making the whole experience feel special. And their chili crunch deviled eggs is a must-try every time! The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is friendly, and it’s one of those places you can’t wait to come back to.

We were so lucky to get tickets for this year’s Halloween six course menu based on the Goddess Baba Yaga! We were welcomed in with a cocktail, a beet deviled egg, pickled mushrooms, and a savory cracker. Highlights of the meal included pine cone jam on the fanciest ham and cheese sandwich, a large plate of stuffed quail, the delicious pierogis, potato salad with rich smoked trout, and the Baba Yaga’s hut cake, a cheesecake with tart cranberry sauce. The owners truly love Halloween and it is so fun to see the decorations and costumes. We will absolutely back for both other Halloween dinners, as well as a nice date night. Everyone at our table- besides my husband and I- had been to Odd Duck and were singing their praises of their deviled eggs and unique cocktails.

This is the third time I’ve come here. The dessert drink was absolutely delicious, I haven’t had a drink this yummy for a while. We tried several dishes and we loved the catfish. It was crispy and juicy. The crispy mushroom was not my favorite. The breading was too thick and hard made it difficult to eat. The flavor was really good I just wish the breading was lighter. Buttermilk chicken is good, I loved the grits. Overall it was a fantastic experience again, I would recommend it to my friends.

New American restaurant
Sanford, located in Milwaukee, is a renowned restaurant housed in a modernized space that was once an 80-year-old family grocery store. The restaurant offers an elegant dining experience with a European-style storefront and serves a seasonally driven menu featuring locally sourced cuisine and an award-winning wine list. The warm and inviting ambiance complements the commitment to using regional ingredients in their daily and ever-changing four-course seasonal menus.
For the love of Pete this meal was amazing!!! Celebrated our anniversary and chose Sanford based on the reviews. Carrie was our server and she was nothing short of amazing!! Explained the menu and answered our questions. We chose the 7 course surprise dinner. Most of the time we sat in silence just trying to figure out what just happened to our taste buds! Absolutely delicious every single plate. A meal like this in Chicago would have been three times as much. We were the last ones in the restaurant and had the honor of meeting the Chef and seeing the kitchen! The entire experience from start to finish is one we will remember for ever. Thank you xoxo

White table cloth dining experience in a comfortable older building. We enjoyed the chef's surprise tasting menu and wine pairings—some very surprising wines and every dish was delicious and offered intriguing flavors and textures. It really was a delightful evening without a single misstep from the chef or the staff. One of the best things about Sanford is that they are a real throwback to a time when you didn't have to guarantee your reservation with a card, didn't have to get out for the next table, didn't have to venmo money to a friend because the restaurant wouldn't split the check or whatever. This felt easy and relaxing and fun—like a restaurant should be.

This was such a wonderful experience. Kelly and Shauna were very informative about the history and each of the courses. The Elk was amazing and done to perfection. The Halibut was also done to perfection. Each course brought a plethora of flavorsand so enjoyable. The desserts were out of this world. I would definitely go back and highly recommend.

We did the 7 course surprise tasting menu and loved it! Some more adventurous dishes for Milwaukee which made it a great experience! Our server was amazing and all the servers were very attentive.

My partner and I visited for the Valentine’s Day weekend and we really enjoyed our visit. This was a perfect experience for the both of us. The best service I’ve had at a restaurant. The second anything was needed the staff was available and happy to help. The food was fantastic, the stuffed venison I had was delicious and my partners steak was one of the best I’ve ever had. You definitely get what you pay for. The drinks were good as well and the servers are very flexible when it comes to wine pairings. I can’t recommend this experience more.

Wow! This is a unique dining experience. We chose the 7 course tasting menu. You sit down and they just start bringing you awesome food. You have no idea I'm what is coming and no need to make any decisions. Of my 7 courses - 6 were incredible. The one potential issue is all night you are comparing to the previous courses. The service topped my high expectations. The staff was incredible. I should note, I went for a special occasion and they were very helpful.

Went in there really excited but left feeling disappointed. I didn’t think the 7-course surprise menu was exceptional for a few reasons and would probably not revisit. 1. Too many repeating elements in all the savory courses which made the flavor profiles all very similar. 2. Way too much salt on all the savory courses. 3. Desserts were good but very basic (lemon pound cake and 3 short breads). 4. I did not receive a copy of the 7-course surprise menu to take home :( Pro: 1. Server was attentive. 2. Palate cleanser was the best part!

I have been wanting to try this place for a while...it finally happened! We celebrated our Anniversary last month and Sanford did not disappoint. We had an earlier reservation on a Tuesday. We each did the 7 course surprise tasting menu with the wine add on... everything was perfectly presented and prepared. The pairings went together nicely and the presentation made you want to savor each bite. The experience easily took 3 hours... we had the best of the best serving us. Great conversation, funny and very knowledgeable about what was being presented to us. Corrie Lynn really did a great job. We ended up staying until the close and Corrie Lynn and Carrie were so fantastic. I also got to meet some of the people in the kitchen that prepared our beautiful dishes. I am thrilled that I got to finally try this place and will definitely return!

Steak house
Nestled within the historic Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee, Mason Street Grill is a quintessential American dining experience that beautifully marries classic steakhouse fare with an inviting atmosphere. This charming restaurant specializes in mouthwatering wood-grilled steaks and fresh seafood, making it a must-visit for both lunch and dinner. Guests can enjoy not only high-quality cuisine but also delightful libations and vibrant 'Happy Hours' complemented by live jazz music six nights a week.
Incredible restaurant located on the first floor of the Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. Fantastic atmosphere and aesthetics. Noah was our server and was an absolute delight - and well versed in both the current menu and all specials. Everything was on point here - cocktails delicious; appetizers were perfectly sized for 2 (herbed goat cheese); steak (Dry Aged Heritage Ribeye) was a perfect med-rare and rested properly; Fennel salad was fresh and crisp; sides were well portioned and balanced (sweet corn brulee); dessert was carrot cake and fantastically moist. Highly recommend if you are in Milwaukee for any reason. Bonus - you get your check in a tiny leather couch, and it is a great little touch at the end!

This place never disappoints. We were in town for the Harley-Davidson Homecoming festival and we walked over for some steaks after the show. Aiden was our server and he made our dining experience once of the best in a long time. He was very personable, cracked some jokes and played along, and was very attentive to anything we needed. The steaks were spot on, the ambiance was great, and we were glad we checked this place out again. 10/10 would recommend Also…try the chocolate cake…

Loved everything about the experience. The cocktails and wine were amazing, the food was cooked so well. So much flavor and richness, the steak is a must have. The Bbq Shrimp starter was unmatched. The service was excellent all of the staff were professional, kind and friendly. It felt very personable and I cannot wait to return in the future. 10/10 recommend worth the price.

A Hidden Gem in Downtown Milwaukee! What a great find in downtown Milwaukee! From the moment we arrived, our server, Noah M, made us feel truly special. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and the staff welcomed us with a complimentary glass of champagne—a thoughtful and classy touch. Noah was fantastic throughout the evening. He walked us through the daily specials, offered excellent recommendations, and was incredibly attentive, answering all of our questions with a warm and friendly attitude. The food was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The drinks were spot on, too. Everything about our experience was top-notch. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Possibly the best meal I have ever had. Everything about this place was amazing. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. And the steak... I have never had steak that tendor in my life. It legit melts on your tongue. The sauce was amazing, just this place is great. I use to be a chef, and I can tell they're on their game. I don't think I've ever seen a crew so calm and on point.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mason Street Grill, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. For the appetizer we ordered the clams which was a phenomenal choice best appetizer. The twin filet medallions were cooked to perfection. I highly recommend ordering them medium-well—the tenderness paired beautifully with the rich Madeira sauce. The duck foie gras, served atop a crisp piece of bread, was delicate and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The 64-hour braised short rib was a true delicacy. It was incredibly tender and full of depth. For those sensitive to heat, I suggest removing the dried spiral peppers, as they do add a touch of spice, but otherwise, this dish is a 10/10. The Delmonico potatoes were outstanding creamy, flavorful, and undeniably addictive. This is easily one of the best side dishes I’ve ever had, and I would recommend it to anyone dining here. On the other hand, the MKE Mac & Cheese was the only disappointment of the evening. The cheese blend didn’t quite harmonize and left the dish tasting grainy and lacking flavor. I personally would love to see it reimagined with a three-cheese combination such as feta, Parmesan, and mozzarella. For cocktails, the Road Mai Tai stood out as the perfect pairing with steak. Balanced and refreshing, the flavors of orange curaçao and lime juice shone through, while the toasted macadamia offered a subtle nutty finish. It was easily the best drink on the menu. As it was my birthday, I was treated to a complimentary mousse bomb, which was rich, creamy, and deeply chocolatey. Garnished with fresh raspberries and a milk chocolate “Happy Birthday” sign, it was a delightful touch that made the celebration feel extra special. Lastly, the carrot cake deserves its own praise. Fluffy, moist, and full of flavor, it tasted unmistakably homemade. The cream cheese frosting was silky smooth, and the warm notes of cinnamon tied it all together. This is, without question, the best dessert on their menu. Our server, Tyler, was fantastic. He checked on us often, was attentive without being intrusive, and made sure everything about our visit was seamless. His service elevated the experience even further. Overall, Mason Street Grill delivered an outstanding dining experience with a few unforgettable highlights. I would gladly return for the filet medallions, short rib, Delmonico potatoes, and carrot cake alone.

Devin was amazing! My husband and I come here for our wedding anniversary (definitely make sure you make a reservation!) and he made our night so wonderful. Great recommendations on wine for myself and was very sweet and accommodating. Highly recommend sitting and dining with him. Will definitely be back over and over again due to the service and beautiful food.

New American restaurant
Braise Restaurant & Culinary School, located on 2nd Street, is a beloved spot in Milwaukee that offers a farm-to-table dining experience. The restaurant focuses on using locally sourced and organic ingredients to create their daily-changing menu of New American fare. From the chewy bread and herb butter starter to the charcuterie and cheeses, everything is made from scratch.
Braise hosted my wedding and it turned into the perfect day! I don't live in Wisconsin anymore so planning a wedding from out of state was stressful. I was so lucky to have Becky and her experience with wedding planning. She walked me through everything I needed to do and made the process very smooth. I cannot recommend working with her enough. I have a lot of friends who are foodies and were flying to Wisconsin. I wanted to serve them an amazing meal and with Braise we accomplished that. Many guests complimented us on the food at our wedding including a friend who eats at Michelin star restaurants. They also made our wedding cake and it was the best cake I have ever eaten, not too sweet. My husband and I are looking forward to coming back here for future anniversary meals. :)

Wow! Seriously, wow. We're a pair of jaded Chicago restaurant afficianados, and weren't expecting such a great meal. The cocktails were unique and inspired, and the (very limited and curated) food menu was terrific. Ordered a total of 8 items across cocktails, appetizers, main dishes and desserts and every one of them was unique and terrific. Prices were very reasonable to boot. I can't understand why it's so easy to get a table and why this restaurant doesn't have a waiting list. PS. The service was excellent.

I used Braise to host our intimate wedding celebration, and I couldn't be happier! As we were planning the wedding from out of state, having Becky to work with was an absolute dream. She was so communicative, easy to work with, and was flexible as we flew into Milwaukee a few times to tour the venue. The food was phenomenal - our guests raved about the pork buns, chicken crostini, and flourless chocolate cake well into the night. We had a cocktail style reception, and Becky was immensely helpful in estimating food counts to keep everyone full throughout the evening. Service was smooth - drinks and food were brought out promptly, and empties were quickly whisked away. The entire staff were so friendly and professional. I could not recommend Braise more highly for an event - I can't wait to return for many more anniversary dinners.

I have been here for dinner throughout the seasons. The menu changes based on season food selection. It is delicious unique and fun. The decor and service has always been good. Took a few cooking classes. The chef putting on the class was great. I learned a bunch. Went for desert the other night. It was fantastic

Stopped in at Braise last night with a friend for the 3-course dinner! You won’t find better ingredients or a better deal. It is truly a one of a kind dining experience and the food is AMAZING—not to mention generously portioned. From start to finish you get a choice between two delicious appetizers, two main course items, and choice between two desserts. This was my second time to Braise and I look forward to coming back. I had the mushroom risotto and highly recommend it. The waitstaff and bartenders are very friendly and add to the overall experience. Perfect for date night with the hubby, or drinks with your girlfriends!

I absolutely cannot express how AMAZING Braise Restaurant & Culinary School was for our reception. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue. We reserved the upstairs room, including the outdoor space that provided a beautiful view of the city. Becky Ayala, the restaurant manager, was a dream to work with. She was responsive to my emails and detail-oriented, which was so helpful during the reception planning process. The beautifully decorated room dazzled guests the moment they arrived at Braise and established the vibe for the rest of the room’s design. We also loved having the outdoor space, which was perfectly decorated, with floral arrangements placed everywhere. We opted for a family-style dinner. Locally sourced seasonal food inspired the menu of Mixed Green Salad, Lemon Risotto, Montreal Chicken and Soy Braised Beef. The food was delicious and the two wedding cocktails, Crazy Dave’s Old Fashioned and Rhubarb Lemonade were wonderful and flavorful. Our waiter, Kira and David, our bartender, were exceptional and on top of everything. The timing of the dishes was efficiently paced to allow sufficient time in between dishes. Everything was superb, and our guests raved about the venue and the food. I cannot recommend Becky and her team highly enough. You will not regret booking your venue in Braise.

Great food and friendly service! I took my wife here to celebrate her birthday and we enjoyed a couple appetizers and entrees. I was not only pleased with the quality of of the locally sourced food, but I was also satisfied with the portion sizes. The selection of craft beer was also a plus 🍻 Definitely check this spot out!

We had our wedding dinner here and the catering was phenomenal. We booked out the first floor and the split between cocktails in the bar area and dinner in the dining room was a nice little change of setting. The braised beef, pork buns, and chocolate mouse were hits, guests even took leftovers home. The lemon curd wedding cake made by the pastry chefs was great and beautifully but tastefully decorated. I hope we can come back for all our anniversaries.

Serbian restaurant
Three Brothers is a vintage Serbian restaurant in Milwaukee, serving up traditional cuisine and wine. This family-owned eatery has been operating since the 1950s and offers a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of grandma's kitchen. The star of the menu is the succulent burek, a meat-filled filo pastry, along with other Serbian favorites like musaka, sarma, goulash, and baklava.
We had a fabulous time here. We were 7 people in total and made a reservation. They accept cash or cheque only. The service was absolutely amazing, very attentive staff and very kind people. Not only that but the food was amazing - some of the best Serbian food I've ever had. I recommend the Burke completely, but it can take up to an hour to bake. Recommend for groups of any size, or couples. Very cozy.

CASH OR CHECK ONLY. Cozy & homey place with 7 tables. Kitchen is right at the back! You will walk out smell like food. Burek is a popular dish here. Call ahead of time for reservations and pre-order the burek! It took 45-60 minutes to cook so unless you have something to do while waiting, pre-order! You can also request for the burek to be ready 15 or 30 minutes after your arrive time if needed. The beef burek is a paper-thin and crispy “pie” and simple ground beef inside it. It feels like biting into a giant beef croissant. The waiter suggested to try the cheese burek so I will need to do that next time. The serma is savory and great to cut through the beefiness and carb-heavy of burek. You should definitely order them together. The whole meal will be perfect with a cold beer!

I lived in Bay View back in the early 90s and always wanted to try this restaurant. Fast forward to 2025, and well...I finally made it. From the looks of the decor, Three Brothers may have kept everything the same since well before the 90s. Check out the pay phone near the entrance, the old Sclitz beer signs from the 60s, an old SONY stereo system, and quaint family style table and chairs. Old world charm. The food and service matches the decor. We enjoyed both beef and cheese & spinach burek - call ahead because they each take an hour to create and bake. Other entrees were chicken pilaf, and pork shishkabob. Apps included stuffed grape leaves and Serbian salad. All unique and tasty treats that are truly different. You'll find a selection of Serbian beers, wines and beverages to pair with your meals. I have to say, 30+ years was a long wait, but this is one of Milwaukee's oldest and most interesting locations to have the quintessential Old World meal.

Took forever to finally stop here, but so glad I did! The staff was very polite and helpful. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was romantic and cozy. Will definitely be back! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Three Brothers was absolutely fantastic. If you've been wanting to try this place for a while, make it happen, it won't disappoint. You can expect to be a bit packed in to a quaint, homey, authentic atmosphere that has preserved both family and Shlitz history. The staff is fantastic, extremely friendly, helpful, attentive. Then served on china you may recognize from your grandma's fancy set will come AMAZING food. The beef burek was absolutely fantastic (well worth the 45 minute wait). The lamb was tender and flavorful. Grape leaves appetizer was also quite good. I'll be coming back soon to try more dishes. For dessert we had clearly the best warmed baklava of my life. All of the food tastes like your grandma's cooking (assuming your grandma cooked like my grandma, which let's be honest, she didn't), authentic and packed with flavor. This gem of a place is the antithesis to what "fine dining" has become, and it's fantastic. Find a date on your calendar and reserve several hours with good company to slowly enjoy a meal as it should be served and enjoyed. Even with all this prices are still reasonable, and cash/check only don't forget. To Three Brothers, thank you for preserving history and maintaining a dining atmosphere that is not easy to come by these days, but is how food should be served. We had an absolutely excellent experience and will soon be back for more!

An older building with a lot of charm the serves a unique culinary experience. Serbian cuisine is the theme. This is the only such restaurant in the area that I know of. We had the Sarma, Chevapchichi, Raznjici, and the Borek. All were great, especially the Borek. This is a small restaurant so make a reservation. The Borek takes an hour to prepare, so phone in your order ahead of time. The waitstaff was prompt and thorough. Payment must be cashier check - credit cards not accepted. Prices are appropriate. They have a drink menu featuring Serbian libations but do not have an actual sit-down bar. No parking lot but plenty of street parking within a block or two.

Sarma was really good and it reminded me of Bosnia a lot. The portion was decent but a bit on the smaller side. However, burek with spinach was hugeeee and it tasted delicious. A little bit too oily for me, but you would get the same thing in restaurants back home. The staff were lovely and warm. Some of them speak Serbian and it was nice chatting with them and finding out more about the restaurant itself. Overall great experience, would totally recommend.

food: authentic Serbian food that I haven’t had before, very family owned and apparently recipes were secret, best dish was the goulash but doesn’t look great on camera, bulek is famous but a bit dry for my taste - still very tasty service: super nice waiter, very helpful with menu Ambiance: loved the atmosphere, the interior was cozy and the china was nice, again family owned and apparently the restaurant used to be their living room
