Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Aquarium
The Milwaukee County Zoo is a sprawling 190-acre attraction that houses over 2,000 animals from more than 350 species. Visitors can enjoy animal exhibits, pony and train rides, a carousel, and entertaining sea lion shows. The zoo also hosts various events such as workshops, holiday celebrations, concerts, and food festivals. Additionally, the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory known as 'the Domes' showcases tropical, arid, and seasonal plant displays in three distinct domes.
Possibly one of the best zoos around the country . Very well maintained spaces and facilities for the animals and guests . The area is surrounded with trees and natural environment making part of the entire experience of being outdoors : one with nature. It is a very big campus with a lot of opportunities for walking and enjoying the outdoors and the animals . Well paced and certainly well maintained. Bought tickets online in advance and arrived later in the afternoon to avoid crowds . Best idea ever . Parking is sprawled and easy in and out access to the zoo.

Such a nice zoo. Clean. Staff is pleasant and seem to really like their jobs. Animals appear to be well cared for. The predator prey set ups are nice. The plush scooters are fun. The gift shop is nice. There are multiple food options.
Renee H — Google review
Very nice zoo with shade and easily walkable. They had all the major animals. The only downside was some of the exhibits. For example, the big cats (e.g., lions, tigers) are all inside. It was cool seeing them so close, but I couldn't help but feel bad for them in such tiny enclosures. Now, it appears they each take turns using the outside exhibits, but it still, it was sad seeing them in these glass cages. I haven't really seen that before. There are a variety of food options and spread across nicely. The elephants had a big exhibit and appeared active. Hippo was also really neat.

CYRONI THA MACARONI — ALMOST GOT CHARGED BY AN ELEPHANT (BUT IT WAS JUST A BANANA PHONE MIX-UP) PART 1 of ALOT SO STAY TUNED.. 🚨 The scene? Milwaukee County Zoo. Cyroni standing tall, phone in hand, legacy in progress. Then BOOM—elephant locks eyes like it’s snack time. 💥 Was it a charge? Was it a warning? Cyroni says nah—it just thought my phone was a banana. And honestly? That’s the kind of energy we bring: so fresh, even elephants want a bite. 📢 No fear. No flinch. Just a legendary moment. Cyroni didn’t back down—he just laughed it off like a true explorer. Because when you’re built for adventure, even wild encounters turn into wild stories. 🔥 #LOUDNCLEAR #CyroniThaMacaroni #BananaPhoneConfusion #ElephantEnergy #MilwaukeeZooMoments #BuiltForWildLegacy BIG THANK YOU TO THE MODERN WOODMAN GROUP!!!

I really liked this zoo! Very beautiful and a lot bigger than the map make it seem! All I could wish is the train and the skyride were free or at least cheaper and that the parking was cheaper. The day I went it was a pretty empty parking lot so I would've hoped it would be reduced or free. I love the koi fish!
Faith A — Google review
This is a nice escape out of Illinois. In the summer months, it’s a great time to walk around and see different animals and look at different attractions.. The elephant and monkey displays were great for the kids. Signage was clear and most things were easy to find using the map or the signage The zoo is adding more features this year, which is nice to see. One room for improvement is some of the food places were not open on a Friday during summer. Online ticket purchase is easy and saves you time when you park.

It was Such a a Great Time... We really enjoyed seeing the Many , Many,Many Animals from all over the world that Now Live at the Milwaukee county zoo. The staff were Helpful and informative. We will be back for all the Family fun
Jenny R — Google review
One of the best zoos ive been to. They have a sky lift and train to view the whole park in different ways. The way the animals were treated and the facilities they were kept in were more adequate than most. The park is huge, plan accordingly. Not everywhere was wheel friendly and there was a lot of bees but everything else was great.

Nice, clean affordable space. There could be some updates to the carpet beyond anything else. But for the space you get and your own ability to transform the space, renting this place out for your next occasion is worth it.

Amusement park ride
Safari Train Main Station at the Milwaukee County Zoo is a popular attraction for families with young kids. The train offers a leisurely ride around the zoo, allowing passengers to wave at others and enjoy sculptures of animals along the track. Despite occasional long waits, many visitors find the experience worthwhile and nostalgic, as it's enjoyable for both children and adults. The 20-minute ride on this real steam locomotive provides a nice overview of the entire zoo for just $3.
A must do if you have younger kids! You get to ride around the zoo and sometimes be able to wave to people passing by. It’s exactly fast but don’t let that stop you from riding. The wait is usually long but worth it. There are also sculptures of animals along the train track that are interesting to see.

The staff is incredibly caring. They make sure to include my dad in activities and even sit outside when the weather is good. My dad has been there many years and I find comfort knowing that he is in good hands!
Judy D — Google review
If I Could Give This Place 0 Stars, I would. The nurses are lazy. A lot of them don’t care to help or just sit at the nurse station almost all shift. You get a few that go beyond and help the cna’s out. Some of the cna’s are lazy, especially night shift. Not all of them but most of them. They can barely keep cna’s and housekeepers to stay, never enough supplies/diapers or enough towels/wash cloths. Ann Lopez and Elaine or whatever her name is. Are both sneaky (along with a few other office people) Always sweep things “under the rug” always covering their ars. Of course they have their favorites and would do anything to save a penny. Even if it means canceling your shift without notice. Ann will ask other aids to cover a shift and act like they didn’t just leave someone to dry. Unless you kiss their ars, they’ll treat you anything but nice unless they need something from you. I WOULDN’T recommend bringing your loved ones or working here. Ann and Elaine are NOT great at their job. Just like any other business. They Lure you in, make it sound sweet and all but your loved one will get moved into different rooms and mistreated by other residents. If something is broken and such. My heavens, don’t let it happen on Friday/the weekend cause no one will take care of it until the weekday. Ann and Elaine make sure the nurses can’t contact them after business hours, even though they’re the main people to contact when something happens. So if something happens, the nurse has to take care of what she can which makes it a bigger load on top of what he/she has to do.
John D — Google review
My father was at St. Francis for 7 weeks and his medical care was terribly mismanaged. After a hospital stay, St. Francis was supposed to resume his diuretics, which they didn't. As a result his edema went out of control and he ended up back in the hospital just hours after he was discharged. When my mother and aunt went to pick him up, they had to ask for help to get him into the car. The staff did not notice that his body was so swollen he could barely get into the car. Also, my father received nebulizer treatments at St. Francis, which the physician at the hospital explained were unnecessary and can in fact be harmful. The rooms are very small and there are no telephones in them so it is very difficult to communicate with a patient there.
Karen R — Google review
This is a Horrible place!! If you love your family please choose wisely. The care is poor the staffing is poor as well. The facility is ran by a bunch of bird brains with no good intentions.
Jasmine T — Google review
Staff don't help patients when they are sick, they just tell patients they are fine! If you love your family don't bring them here
