Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Peterborough Cathedral is a medieval church known for its grand Gothic facade and offers tours, tower visits in the summer, and choral recitals. The cathedral has a rich history dating back over 1,000 years and has survived invasions, wars, and King Henry VIII's Dissolution of Monasteries.
A beautiful piece of magnificent history right in the centre of town. So many stories to discover and amazing architecture to admire. Well worth a visit and if you're lucky, you might hear the choir practising, or the organist playing a tune!
Rachel T — Google review
A beautifully designed and built cathedral. Are there better ones - depends upon what is considered better, this one is full of history and stunning architectural details. There was a 5 pound charge to visit the chancel but I did not think that excessive considering the maintenance costs on this building. If you visiting Peterborough, this is not to be missed. Also a lovely place for some self reflection and hop out of the daily trials of life.
Mark A — Google review
What a great cathedral. The architecture is amazing and walking inside its so spacious and the art work is amazing. Such a peaceful place. The cathedral is right in the city centre of Peterborough and you can’t miss it with the walk way leading to it. The cathedral looks so beautiful and grand from the outside and when you walk in it looks so nice
Paul S — Google review
An impressive building with the three arches. The Nave is beatiful too with the wooden ceilings, etc. An amazing building. But, I was disappointed to find that in order to visit the chancel and other areas at the back of the cathedral, I would have to pay an entrance fee of £5.50, you have to buy tickets at the information desk. There is no clear signage of that being the case, nothing to inform me of this. You need to be more clear as it does not say on your website or indeed on any signage that I looked at that there is a fee.
Dominic W — Google review
Like majority of Cathedrals in the UK, Peterborough cathedral has stunning Gothic architecture and a real sense of history. The intricate ceilings and beautiful stained glass are breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect place to pause and reflect.
Gary C — Google review
I have visited a lot of Cathedrals over the year across England, and this has to be one of best that l have seen. l was very impressive with both the inside and the outside of this cathedral. I would highly recommend coming here. The cathedral is free to visted, but there is a donation box/card reader if you would like give something.
Peter C — Google review
Superlative example of a cathedral lots of spectacular details and information and friendly and helpful staff. Gift shop didn't seem open and if they did contactless donations we would have.

Nature & Parks
Ferry Meadows in Nene Park, also known as Fedz Meds to locals, is a popular destination for various outdoor activities such as walking, fishing, and horseback riding. It's a favorite spot for dog owners who come here rain or shine to walk their furry friends and socialize with other dogs. The park features play parks, walking and cycling paths, horse rides, fishing opportunities, and stunning scenery.
An amazing largescale park with lake and river side trails through many different types of landscape from woodland to meadow which provides access to a huge range of wildlife. In addition there are many other amenities within the area including two cafes and a visitor centre alongside various activity zones. Whether visiting the area or as a local resident there are so many things to see and do. Definitely worth a visit!
A C — Google review
My girlfriend and I came here, and it's a lovely walk. In some sections, it feels very close to nature, while others are clearly designed for children to play. It's a wonderful place for a quiet day out.
Dominic R — Google review
Visited many times, but today just the wooden trail. However, the whole park it's perfect to go for walks, visit different sites like coffee shops, playgrounds for the children, ride on the train ( this will depend on the days and weather), and also boat rides (this is seasonal). There's a lot in here, as sometimes they do events as well. Always look at the website for what's happening. But, if you like nature like I do, Ferry meadows is a great escape from the town of Peterborough.
Mariana F — Google review
Beautiful place has a lot to offer, play areas, BBQ, pedal boats, and lots of walking trails. A small train that takes you on a tour of the park, cafes and toilet facilities. Various parking locations which you pay when you leave. Very pretty place, would definitely return for another visit.
Maria C — Google review
Lovely place for a day out .plenty of walks. parks for kiddies cafe and ice-cream stall and a train to take you round the park. We stayed on the caravan site for few days it was nice .you can also tents in a different area .

Ferry Meadows in Nene Park, is beautiful and peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature. The big lake is perfect for fishing and just relaxing. There are plenty of walking trails, running areas, and horseback riding avaliable. Plenty of adventure woodlands, large picnic areas, and a variety of wildlife, it’s an ideal destination for families, nature lovers, or anyone looking for a calm escape outdoors.
Martin R — Google review
Visited here for the Saturday morning parkrun. Loads of onsite parking which is only £1 for park runners. This is very well attended event , with 600 people on the day. The park is great with loads of facilities including toilets, cafes etc. The run is two out and back loops, there are some 2way parts that get a little squeezed but for most of it there is plenty of room. Its all flat and alot of tarmac so its a fast course. Lots of marshalls all doing a great job, this is a must visit parkrun.
Paul — Google review
Parking £4-8. Very beautiful and scenic. Cafe was busy and their way of doing drinks was odd, tea was made and put on the tray but we had to wait for the coffee (they hold back the tray) so tea was cold. Coffee was around £4, cake £4 . Watersports and activities available on site for extra charges. Picnic area and play park. Short walk around the lake and some other paths that we didn't get chance to visit as it was just a short visit.

Nestled in an 18th-century stone townhouse on Priestgate, Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery offers a captivating journey through history and art. With over 200,000 artifacts, the museum delves into the human and natural history of Peterborough and its surrounding Fenland area. Visitors can explore interactive displays featuring everything from Jurassic sea-monsters to original manuscripts by poet John Clare.
A great museum and I particularly enjoyed the Doctor Who exhibition (£5). Very well set out with lots to enjoy. The cafe was great too!
Debs M — Google review
Easily accessible museum and was impressed by a friendly staff who was welcoming and spent time to explain what would be expected in the museum. Full of interactive activities for engagement especially for kids. Worth a visit when you’re in Peterborough.

Short walk from the Mainline railway station and city centre. I visited for the Doctor Who exhibition which was a bargain at £5. I did not see any other exhibits as I was there for one thing only. Staff seemed friendly, there is a cafe and toilet facilities available.

Went to the Dr Who 'Adventures in Time and Space' exhibition on Sunday 26th October. Great exhibition...set out nicely with date information on each item displayed. Very friendly staff! Lovely museum...gift shop and cafe!
Donna H — Google review
We saw everything apart from the Dr Who stuff. This is a brilliant museum. The prison camp, operating theatre, art gallery, social history stuff and other art exhibition. Free entry. Nice looking cafe.
Vincent — Google review
Absolutely fantastic. Unofficial Doctor Who exhibition until 2nd November. It was really good, and only lost a fiver!!
Mark B — Google review
Lovely museum. Went to see the Doctor Who exhibition which was fab! Lovely touch having a Tardis lift. The Jeff Cummins art was an added bonus. I'll come back to see the rest when it's a little cooler 😎
Hugh J — Google review
A gem of a museum. We were there for the Dr Who exhibition running until November 2025. It's a mis of props and models from the early and great years of Dr Who. At the same time there was an exhibition of the artwork of Jeff Cummins who also created amazing Who artwork that was used for books and Radio Times covers. It was also special as one of our party, Andrew Donkin, worked with Jeff many years back and that collaboration was on show!

Archaeological museum
Flag Fen Archaeology Park is a fascinating 3,500-year-old archaeological site located in Peterborough, England. It features Bronze Age causeway remains and reconstructed round houses that provide insight into the ancient settlement. The site is believed to have been used for religious ceremonies and consists of over 60,000 timbers forming a wooden causeway across the wet fenland.
Great expérience with the family. The viking festival was full of history and fun for the kids too with children trying out on the battlefield to beat the vikings. The site is a lot bigger than we expected and full of re-enactment actors and actress explaining how things work for the children. It feels like step back in time. Definitely coming back again
Iona B — Google review
Very interesting artefacts and archaeological finds in a small but beautiful setting. I learned a lot. It was also great to see how much education they give to young children about fossils, extinct animals and the whole iron and bronze age way of life. Nice cafe and local book area at the entrance too.
ALISON R — Google review
Great place to visit especially when they have an event on. This time we went to see their halloween event, which included broom making, a spooky maze, majic wand building and pumpkin carving. We were even greated by the grim reaper at the door. Food was tasty and our toddller loved it!
Stefan C — Google review
Great day out here on the way home from holiday. Plenty to see, the shed with the preserved in situ track way being a favourite. The museum is small but very interesting. Some aspects could maybe do with improved information. We went being quite knowledgeable about archaeology, and having been before 10 years ago, but a casual visitor might need more information.
Alison D — Google review
Brilliant morning exploring the archaeology park. Really helped bring the history to life for me and my son. Was surprised how empty it was, but they were setting up lots of activities ready for the school holidays.
Nic — Google review
First time visit here, on a bit of a cold and wet day. Really fascinating to see the Must Farm boats here, as well as the roundhouses. Very sad to see the burnt remnants of the mindless vandalism from earlier in the summer. Great museum - almost missed it on the far side of the site. Lots of activity points for kids. Friendly staff and nice muffins! I also befriended the sheep.

We visited with Granddaughters, Daughter, had a great day here, plenty to do, spent a good 4/5 hours. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, you can make wicker butterflies, go pond dipping, dig for fossils and other things. A fantastic family day out.

Nature preserve
Nene Park Peterborough is a nature lover's paradise, offering a wide range of outdoor activities for visitors. From cycling and water sports to nature trails, the park has something for everyone. The natural beauty of the park provides an ideal setting for families to enjoy picnics and play in the open fields. With two cafes and shops on site, visitors can easily access refreshments and amenities.
I took 3 of my children today and was pleasantly surprised on all the new work that has been done. The new welcome sign which is a bug hotel the newly renovated toilets and learning centre. They also have a water filling station for your drinks bottles now which was lovely and cool. They have also done a lot of landscaping work and tidying up which is really noticeable. They also had a summer fun help yourself and return section. It was a bike with a large box in the front that you could take a Frisby, football or a cricket set to use and return once you have finished. I thought this was a great idea. Ferry Meadows well done and great improvement to an already lovely park.
Laura Y — Google review
Beautiful place, very scenic with walks around a lake. Several water activities are available for extra cost. Cafe on site, cake £4, coffee £4 roughly so pretty standard prices. Unfortunately they were busy and made the tea then we had to wait that long for the coffee to be made, when we sat finally finished the order, the tea was cold. Dog friendly place . Picnic areas and seating available. Also designated BBQ areas but never saw any whilst there. Parking fees start from £4-8 for entry.

A very nice area to visit, plenty of lovely walking & resting places around the lake. I often walk through the park on my way to Peterborough from Wandsford. On the north side there is a great riverside boardwalk route along by the river, very good views of the river, worth a visit.

What a stunning area of nature at its best and being managed with such devotion. Encouraging nature to blossom and people made aware of how important this is. The whole park is just a beautiful place to walk around with lots of places to sit and enjoy and children to play. Lots of different waterfowl and other birds to see so take your binoculars so you don't miss any. I will be back . There's also places to do watersports and a nice cafe to view out of. Plenty of parking. Recommend highly

The boathouse house is relaxed and the atmosphere is great. It's a good place to go with friends and family. The best thing about this pub restaurant it Never has any trouble. I go to the boat house 3 to 4 timesxa week. Except on a Wednesday. As they have speed dating. Good for people who are looking for love. And u know the rest. I highly recommend this place. The staff are young friendly and amazing. And as always I have my table reserved. And all other regulars that go there the staff knows all the locals. Reason why its such a good atmosphere. 10 stars 🌟

If you're craving a good plate of British food, Dog in a Doublet is the place to be. They use their own small farm for ingredients and boast an eclectic menu with items like confit duck leg and rib-eye steak. There's also a carvery on Sundays, where dogs can get their share of the action. Plus, they have their own swimming pool and plenty of outdoor seating.
I absolutely love food - but EVERY morsel of this 8 (+1) wonder had me wanting more. Service was friendly and fast (admittedly they weren't that busy) and watching the chef conjure up these dishes of delight was a pleasure. I definitely will be visiting again. A+++

Best duck fat chips around. Love the burger! Love the steak! Went for the 8 course tasting menu last night for my wife's 50th birthday and it was out-of-this-world AMAZING! Get the Groupon for it and go! NOW! You will not be sorry.

Best vegetarian meal I have had in a very long time. I had the Moroccan Vegan Grill. So many wonderful flavours that mixed really well. The sides we ordered were also delicious. The chef and kitchen team are clearly really creative and that pays off in the amazing food. The staff were also lovely. It was my birthday treat and they made it very special. This is the least likely place to find this level of food and absolutely worth the trip out.

Highly recommend here for an incredible Sunday roast. Great service, every morsel was delicious, and not only is it dog friendly (indoors and out), they served our dog his own roast (pictured in foil). Make sure you book in advance!

Had a delightful lunch with my family here. Staff were very polite and friendly, and the quality of the food was excellent. This was the lobster I ordered, with a cajun pork rib meat finish. Absolutely delicious. This place is very busy and service can be a little slow at times but the atmosphere is great and it's well worth the wait! Recommended! :)

An absolutely lovely place to stay. We spent two nights here recently and it was fantastic. Our room was gorgeous. The bed was extremely comfortable and had lovely cozy pillows, which is a rarity. The owners and staff were so very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was delicious, we had a full English brekkie (amazing, I could eat the duck fried bread by the plateful) and Greek yoghurt with granola, honey, and loads of fruit. It's clear that they take great pride in serving excellent food. We also had the Sunday roast, and again, it was exceptional. Really highly recommended Dog in a Doublet, overall it was a lovely, relaxed, friendly, welcoming place to stay. With fantastic food. What more could you want!

Pub
The Cuckoo is a charming village inn with a rustic character, offering a wide selection of drinks, real ales, and classic pub food such as burgers. With 186 branches across the UK, this country retreat is easily accessible for an enjoyable meal experience. The establishment has a rich history, having originated as stables in Alwalton before becoming the Wheatsheaf Inn.
I went out for lunch earlier today with a group of friends and I will say that our experiences were very good. The atmosphere was warm-welcoming, the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The service was slow on the dessert front as I have ordered a baked vanilla cheesecake which I have been waiting for about half an hour and the staff were very apologetic for the delay. Despite the service, we will be coming back there again as it was a very good meal. Thank you to the staff for their hospitality and professionalism!
Ben S — Google review
We visited The Cuckoo this evening as a family of five; myself, my partner, and our three children and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Our server, Gift, was absolutely brilliant: friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our meal. The children’s menu was a hit they loved their chicken and steak options, which were well-portioned and tasty. My partner and I shared the Mixed Sticky Starter, which was full of flavour and a great way to begin the meal. For mains, I had the Lamb Kebab and my partner went for the Pork Belly, both dishes were beautifully cooked and presented. We finished with desserts that did not disappoint: the Sticky Toffee Pudding was rich and comforting, and the Chocolate Orange Bomb was a real showstopper, indulgent and delicious. Overall, the food was excellent, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere warm and relaxed. We’ll definitely be back!

One of the few good places to eat in Alwalton/Peterborough. Food is delicious, service is good and timely, staff is polite and helpful. It has a place for everyone I suppose, you can seat Indoor in cosy spot or in more private zone or outside, you get to choose however you wish to. In terms of food taste, it's rare to find a place where all things tastes good. Only downside would be the portion size and Tiramisu can be better. Would recommend to try for sure. 👍

Enjoyed the most wonderful family lunch at The Cuckoo! We were shown to a lovely table upstairs and were warmly greeted by Reece who was very polite, helpful and attentive at all times! Given the fact we arrived following a 3 day Bank Holiday weekend and the staff had worked so hard, Reece still made sure we had a wonderful experience on the day! Excellent Customer Service! Well done Reece!

Great spot for a Monday office dinner! The vibe was relaxed, the staff were super friendly, and the food hit the spot. The lamb skewers with hummus and flatbread were definitely the highlight for me.
Mayura J — Google review
Nicely situated in a scenic English town serving refined meals. We were a large group yet service never lagged. We had the 7 oz steak, bacon chop, house burger, and sea bass. The only complaint was the burgers and steak were a little over the desired temperature of medium rare. Other than that it was an enjoyable evening spent with friends. The sticky toffee pudding is a must try.
Mark B — Google review
The worst meal I’ve had in a long time. Ordered at the bar. Paid £39 upfront. Carried my own cutlery, napkin, glass of wine and glass of water back to the table. Pea soup: slimy but just about edible. Sea bass served in a watery sauce with cold prawns. Sea bass hot in places and lukewarm others due to microwaving. Cold potatoes, broccoli passable. Awful music. Took this photo and walked out.

This place lives up to its high rating! I tried to resist going to this place since, from the outside, it looks a lot like the touristy places we have in Miami. But the food blew me away, I had the Curry Goat Hash. Can you use the word sublime with a dish like that? Every component of this dish was done perfectly. Inside it has a upbeat vibe and nice eating outside too.

First time here, celebrating a 45 year wedding anniversary just myself and hubby. Staff friendly and attentive; nothing too much trouble. Mel in particular was an absolute diamond. She made our night such fun and looked after us so very well. Thanks Mel, what a lovely young lady with a huge smile and full of life. I blame the 2 4 1 cocktails for making me forget to take photos of the scrumptious food on delivery! We had chicken wings to start followed by the Sharing Jerk platter both well recommended 👌

What a fantastic way to spend a lazy afternoon. I sat outside, in the sun and loved the tranquility of the view across the church square while I had a relaxing lunch. Pub
Restaurant
The Fox & Hounds is a family-friendly pub with a charming black and white-beamed Tudor facade. Visitors praise the classic and creative menu, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The food is described as very tasty and good value, presented beautifully by attentive servers who guide guests through drink choices and accommodate special dietary needs. Guests celebrating special occasions receive warm welcomes, thoughtful touches like birthday cards and complimentary Prosecco, making their visit memorable.
Visited as a couple on a weekday lunchtime. Only intended to get a light lunch, but the menu tempted us into a full 3 course meal, which was exceptional in every way. The menu has a very good variety of choices, including vegetarian/vegan. It was so good to find somewhere that served food that was outside the box of basic pub grub. From the dishes we tasted, the kitchen staff deserve a huge well done, and he photos say it all! The table service was also fantastic; attentive but not overly so, with friendly staff. Overall, the meal we had at the Fox and Hounds was by far the best we have had in a pub restaurant in Peterborough, so much so that we booked our extended family Christmas meal here on our visit! Will most definitely be returning very soon.

I've been here a few times and it's usually lovely so not sure what happened today, my mum ordered the gammon, it was burnt and chewy, the egg was so overdone, so no yolk, the chips very overdone, quite disappointed 😞

A big thank you to Becky and her team for such a lovely day for a family birthday meal. The staff were all welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The food and service is excellent. I would definitely recommend to visit the fox and hounds. Thank you to all the staff who made our day extra special xx

We had the shared platter for starter between 3 & it was delicious. Sadly my mushroom & ale pie wasn't so good. Veg was overcooked & peas dried up, pastry was hard to cut & eat & contents was non existent! My friends, however, enjoyed their mains of curry & mixed grill. My pie main was taken off the bill with apologies.
