Super fun resort with lots to explore! Very beginner friendly as you can take greens all the way down from the new gondola (through rinkai). There’s a lot of flat portions so you might get stuck a couple times if snowboarding. Take the opposite route for the famous skyline route (mostly reds). It also seemed very family friendly with lots of activities for kids!
A great ski resort for beginners to intermediate skiers. Slopes are long enough, and there is plenty of beautiful snow and nature. Main downside is the connection between slopes which is not always optimal.
04-Jan-2025 First snowboarding experience ever. Loved it enjoyed every moment there. They have beginner to expert levels and area is quite large. All type of ski lovers can enjoy and learn skiing here. We rented from Solomon located just in way to resort. We rented two snowboard sets (7000yen each for 5hrs). Fell down a-lot and tried many times and hope I got better. The onsen village is also great place to explore near the ski resort. We strolled in evening in our way back. Recommended and definitely going again.
Great Ski/Snowboard resort !!! So much beautiful snow. Many different routes for all levels. Many beautiful ridge trails that have great views. Our trip was mid march and we were lucky as we enjoyed great snow (a week prior to our visit it had been rainy every day, would recommend going sooner in the season or count on your luck).
We had a magical 5 days ⛷️ on this gorgeous mountain ✨plenty of trails for all levels, well-maintained runs, with plenty of sunshine and the heaviest snowfall. The trails are well-marked with clear signage, and the gondolas and chairlifts make it easy to hop between trails and keep the momentum going. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced skier, there’s a perfect run for you. There are restaurants up the mountains too - special mention to Buna’s beef udon (absolute comfort in a bowl) and Popeye’s coffee on the Paradise trail - perfect motivation to ski down for me. A huge shoutout to Anthony, our instructor, who was patient, empowering, and made learning so much fun. What makes Nozawa extra special is that it’s owned by the city, not a corporate mega-ski chain, which gives it a unique charm and a welcoming, local feel. Can’t wait to be back!
I've snowboarded all over the East coast of America, Switzerland, Korea, and this is by far the best snow I've been on. It's been amazing here. Added bonus, Snow Monkeys, Onsen, and great food.
Wonderful ski resort! Traditional onsen town to compliment. Then on mountain food is unreal, all the soloists feel family owned and have incredible food. Didn’t get to ride the new gondola as it was always crowded but was still able to get around without too much crowds. The resort area is very unique and run by the city not corporate mega ski corps and it shows! I really hope this resort stays off the “passes” and keeps its charm.
Nice little ski village for everyone. Ski slopes for experts and beginners alike. Village has many warm, onsen ryokans and traditional local food joints. Options are available for those who would like a drink or two.

Beautiful town with onsen , the market next street will cooking there vegetables, eggs at the onsen water . Try some they just so sweet and delicious.
Not much to see but a spot where locals can use the hot springs to cook or wash, non-locals not allowed to enter, it was quite messy when I went with planks and other stuff everywhere, probably renovation work after the winter. Saw one local in the morning, otherwise very quiet.
Cool open hot spring at the top of a hill in the village. Only locals are allowed to use the spring, as it’s so hot that it’d burn the uninitiated , but it’s a beautiful sight nonetheless.
Beautiful onsen For villagers only
We, turists , can't get in or use here. Just for locals.
This preserves for local residents only. Local people use this onsen to broil eggs and vegetables.
Ogama is an outdoor hot spring which is surrounded by shrines, set in a beautiful, historic corner of Nozawa Onsen. This onsen is so hot (90℃), locals use it to cook vegetables and eggs. You can try some of this food in the market next to the onsen. There is also a large foot onsen around the corner (summer only). If you head down the hill from Ogama, you will see some of the most beautiful Ryokan accommodation and gardens in Nozawa Onsen.
It's fun to buy corn from one of the local shops cooked in the naturally boiling water if the Ogama.

This is a fascinating look at history of skiing in Japan. This small but beautifully maintained museum was a pleasure to see and I enjoyed the exhibits and entertaining videos. Great value for money about $3 Australian entry fee.
There was way more here than we expected, so it was absolutely worth the price. We learned a lot, about local nature as well as Hannes Scneider and Olympic history and there were some interactive things which were good fun!! We had just gone on a walk up the hill... it was raining and we didn't know what was up there, we just wanted to go on an adventure, so it was a lucky find, especially since everything else in the area was closed. No one else was there so they turned on lights and heating just for us... the good thing about visiting in off season!
Shows a good history of Japanese skiing. Interesting display of original skis and poles. Worthwhile visiting if skiing isn't an attractive option on an inclement day or possibly at the end of the day's skiing.
Good enough for the price, worth a visit if you're not skiing.
Cool ski museum detailing the history of skiing in Japan, as well as the Nagano Olympics. Some English, however not much so you'll have to google translate a fair bit of it. Still impressive however.
Staff are nice , Close at 4pm, Worth to visit
Skiing museum we found it interesting its the only ski museum we ever see. Good place to get out of the cold.
Worth a visit, some good history of how skiing developed in Japan and also the relationship between St Antonio and NozawaOnsen

Gorgeous temple, it is surrounded by many others and they are all well maintained. I wish there was a calendar for what days the temples are open or what days there are ceremonies. I accidently walked from behind and didn't see any trespassing warning until I walk out from the entrance. I think more warming signs should be placed...
(Translated by Google) As the birthplace of Nozawana, this temple is said to have been built before the Edo period. It is located in a quiet place behind the hemp pot in Nozawa Onsen.
(Translated by Google) Is this Japan? Nozawa Onsen was so crowded with foreigners that I doubted it. There were no people who turned right at the end and went to Kenmeiji Temple. You will be amazed at the amount of snow that has fallen on the roofs of the Sanmon gate and bell tower. Naturally, to prevent accidents due to falling snow, entry to the temple grounds was prohibited.
(Translated by Google) Since it is said to be the "birthplace of Nozawana", I visited on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. It is not a famous tourist spot, nor is it large, but when you visit it, you can see the atmosphere of an ancient temple, such as the main gate, main hall, and carvings on the buildings. I was also able to ring the bell in honor of my wishes. It was Wednesday and it was quiet, so I didn't have the courage to attack... After visiting here and learning about the origin of Nozawana, I am glad I purchased Nozawana pickled vegetables. We think this is a must-visit spot when strolling through Nozawa Onsen Village.
(Translated by Google) A cool place in the tourist area of Nozawa Onsen. There is no temple nearby that sells goshuin stamps, so it might be a good idea to have one here.
(Translated by Google) Hidden away from the bustle of the hot spring town, this is the only place where temples are lined up. There was a sign posted at the entrance of the main hall indicating that seeds were also available for sale since this is the birthplace of Nozawana. Please note that we do not seem to be accepting entries for the Goshuin book. I also looked for a collection stand, but couldn't find it. When I returned to the tourist office and explained that I couldn't find it, they told me the exact location, saying, ``It was installed at the top of the stairs in the temple grounds.'' When I went to visit again yesterday, a blue sheet had been pasted around the area, and there was no sign collection stand.

It's funny because if I hadn't brought it home and grown it, there wouldn't be any Nozawana in this world today.

The building is beautiful, the staff are lovely, the work presented is wonderful, and I love to see that they're showing local artists work! The stained glass is lovely too, and it was very quiet and peaceful. A lovely quick visit. Also, lots of things like postcards, calenders, etc on sale. Also great views from the room upstairs!!

(Translated by Google) There was no one there when I went, so I was able to enjoy the view quietly. You can enter the museum without making a reservation and watch videos. I had originally wanted to become a Japanese language teacher, so it was a very meaningful time for me. The view from here was spectacular and reminded me of my hometown. Along the way, families and couples with children stopped by, and their children were singing "Spring is here." I'm very happy to be able to watch the show in such a peaceful mood from start to finish!
(Translated by Google) I heard that he was the creator of songs such as Furusato, Oborozukiyo, Autumn Leaves, and Spring Has Arrived, but why is this building in Nozawa Onsen, and does it have any connection to this place? My long-held doubts have now been resolved. I have seen stone monuments in Nakano City, but that is the place where he was born, and Nozawa Onsen is where he moved to in his 50s and lived and loved for about 20 years until his death. Looking at the chronology, at the age of 24 he became a teacher at a normal school, and two years later became in charge of singing at the Ministry of Education, and by the time he was 36 years old, he had created a series of songs that were electrifying to many people. Since then, he has advocated and put into practice the need for more research into traditional Japanese music in the field of education, which tends to be dominated by Western music, and until his later years he studied Kabuki and other Japanese poetry. I want to say thank you for that. It is said that children no longer sing hometown songs. They say it's because the poems are too old-fashioned to understand, but that's what makes them interested in the past. I felt that the beauty of Japan, which has been cultivated for a long time, was conveyed through beautiful melodies and songs.

Very helpful Tourist info center. Staff r helpful w explanation. Lots of brochures about Nozawa onsen n nearby attraction. Some merchandise for sale. Hv coin locker too. Excellent 👍
Pretty helpful place, but maybe a little empty. It was nice that you could come here to collect a prize if you collect the stamps in the stamp book. There are lots of flyers and information. I imagine the few seats fill up quickly during the holiday season. Very conveniently placed though, right by the bus station, and with a hotel directly opposite!! Strange to have it on a different street to the main area of stuff though...
I came here to buy a souvenir stamp rubbing book to collect rubbings at the various onsen and other spots I visited during my trip to Nozawa. It’s a fun thing to do and, after purchasing the book, free as the columns with the running plates are outside and free to use. Unfortunately I only collected a couple rubbings as it snowed heavily the weekend we visited (yay for skiing) but that meant the columns with the rubbing plates were buried under snow drifts. Oh well, guess we will have to try to take another trip here. :)
Really nice people, very helpful, and the staff speaks good English. You can also ship your ski equipment or baggage to the airport or your follow on hotel. Which is a very convenient service if you are touring around after skiing.
Google maps will bring you at the back and you won't find any entrances, the tourist info office is just accross the bus terminal
Not very tourist friendly! Our stay made up for the bad experience with applying for the voucher on offer to visitors staying in Nozawa.
Did not help me with my problem. Transferred me to another person who did not help. Waste of everyone's time.
