A must-visit in Tossa de Mar.The old stone walls and the bright blue Mediterranean make this place unforgettable.Great views, relaxing walk, and perfect for photos.
A quick photographic opportunity on a flying visit whilst exploring the Costa Brava. We parked about a 10-15 minute walk further inland, stopped for an ice-cream, which considering it's the height of the peak summer season was at a price one can expect €9 for two ice creams and a bottle of water. The beach was crowded. So we decided to walk around the castle walls and take a couple of photos.
A must-visit historical site, rich with culture and stories from the past. The area is lively and full of charm, with plenty of souvenir shops, ice cream stands, and restaurants—perfect for a relaxed day trip. K-drama fans will especially appreciate this spot as a famous lookout point featured in The Legend of the Blue Sea (Lee Min Ho, Jun Ji Hyun) We were lucky to enjoy the stunning scenery on a beautiful day, which made the experience even more memorable.
It's not a particularly special attraction, and the beach along the coast isn't very long or large as compared with LA, Thailand or others. There are a number of restaurants and small shops, though. Honestly, it's definitely not a must-see. If you have more time in Barcelona, it's worth considering.
What a picturesque place to be . Very easy uphill hike . Well marked . Amazing views of Mediterranean Sea on your left and beautiful beach line and town on the other , you just can’t miss this lovely hike. Carry some water , hat and also a light jacket . We went around 17.30 and it was a nice sunny day of 15th May 2025 . Yet the wind on the top was so gusty that I had to put in my hoodie to keep myself warm . The weather was pleasant but wind will sweep you off your feet. You see great views from top and also cute village lanes to walk at some points. You will come across beautiful statues and also the light house. The lighthouse opens in stipulated timings . We could not enter but see from outside . Views from that point are extra ordinary. Spring brought several wild flowers blooming and made the views and rocks look more beautiful
Tossa De Mar is a classy town, and if you go, amble through the streets and then ascend by the steps in town or by the beach. The climb is steady, and there are stunning views all round. The lighthouse at the top is well worth the extra steps with the stunning vista at the top is unforgettable.
Beautiful landscape and place to visit. Highly recommend. Love fairly easy hike to the top of the castle with a lovely restaurant to take a break and enjoy the views…
Amazing place, very nice city. Free of charge, but worth your time. Huge complex of ancient walls with gardens. Very picturesque. You should visit if you are nearby

If you're looking for a little getaway from Barcelona, this place is absolutely worth it! Just a quick 1-2 hour trip, and suddenly you're in a dreamy seaside town with crystal-clear waters and the most peaceful vibes. It's super easy to find a quiet beach to relax, soak up the sun, and just forget about everything for a while. Plus, the whole town is walkable, and there's so much Catalan history to explore along the way. Whether you're here for the beaches, the views, or just a break from the city, Tossa de Mar won't disappoint! 🏖️🧘‍♀️
Breathtaking Beach with History and Heart Platja Gran is hands down one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Brava. The setting is absolutely magical — soft golden sand, crystal-clear waters, and the medieval castle of Tossa de Mar rising just above the shoreline. It feels like stepping into a postcard. The beach is clean, well-maintained, and perfect for both relaxing and swimming. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, so it’s easy to grab a drink or some tapas without leaving the sea view behind. Families, couples, and solo travelers alike will find something to love here. The real charm is the blend of natural beauty and historical atmosphere. Watching the sunset over the castle walls is something you won’t forget. A must-visit if you’re anywhere near Costa Brava — peaceful, stunning, and unforgettable.
Platja Gran is the main beach of Tossa de Mar and one of the most iconic spots on the Costa Brava. Perfectly framed by the turquoise waters of the bay and the medieval walls of the old town (Murallas de la Vila Vella), it offers a postcard-perfect setting that blends history with natural beauty. In the summer season, it can get very busy—unsurprising given its central location and charm—but there’s usually still space to lay down your towel if you look around. The sand is the typical coarse-gravel texture found on many Costa Brava beaches, comfortable enough for sunbathing and great for keeping the water crystal clear. Its location right next to the promenade means you’re only steps away from cafés, restaurants, and shops, making it ideal for a full day out. Whether you want to swim in calm waters, take in the incredible views, or enjoy a leisurely seaside lunch, Platja Gran is a must-visit when in Tossa de Mar.
Coarse and abrasive sand, but still worth visiting. Beautiful vista. Mountains surround the beach. Young crowd. Best to bring water socks. The beach is adjacent to food & drinks. Beach has a volleyball net. Chair & umbrella rental options were not spotted while I was there.
The beach is very picturesque and is located in a bay. There is a large number of places for towels, and it is also possible to rent sun loungers. There is a parking lot nearby for 4 euros per hour under a barrier, we parked the car in the blue parking zone, which can be paid for using the Telpark app. The beach is not mixed, but small pebbles, the entry into the water is pleasant. The water temperature is refreshing and slightly lower, compared to Barcelona and Salou. There are quite a lot of nudist girls on the beach, so if you are traveling with children, think twice. If you are a single man, you can not think) Near the beach, enough cafes and a grocery store with a good selection.
Platja Gran is the main beach of Tossa de Mar, right in front of the medieval old town walls 🏰absolutely stunning views while you swim or sunbathe!
Beauty is lost for now undes thousands of towels and sunbathers , owercrouded during this july, no place in water to enjoy the waves. Just like Barcelona baches. Absolute anonimity in crowd of strangers :) tourist season
Great Central Beach in Tossa de Mar This is one of my favorite beaches in Catalunya, it is a great beach, I have been here many times. There were very few people even if the beach is not that big it did not feel overcrowded. The water is fantastic, very blue,, this beach is not super equipped, but it does have a few restaurants & cafes around. Overall it is a great day out and a unique place to visit.

Beautiful beach to relax and enjoy some fresh breeze from the ocean. The views are amazing, you can get there by boat from Tossa de Mar which also goes through some beautiful caves before arriving here.
Nice beach. Coarse sand and stones. Clear water with a rich underwater flora and fauna. Snorkelling equipment is quite recommended. At the restaurant you need wait to be seated about 30 minutes. The menu is pizza and pasta. Nothing special. There is even no any green salad. The parking is quite busy even thought it costs 20 eur a day. We arrived at 12:30 and it was a miracle we were parked. So you need to come there earlier.
It is an amazing little isolated place. There are a few restaurants and a hotel. You can either go here by hiking or by a boat. It's not that far by hiking, just 1.5hrs. Boat is expensive as they are tourist boats with glass bottoms, which I would suggest to avoid if you are on a budget. The water is a bit warmer here. But there are lots of stones so a bit difficult to get into and out of the water... But once in, it's paradise. I went on a week day so there were few people.
Very nice beach, nice atmosphere. Good for families. Nice snorkeling too. Has a beach bar and restaurant, but did not make use of that. Hope that you're lucky to park alongside the road, other wise you're stuck with paying a ridiculous €30! However, parking is free after 18.00.
Day trip from Tossa de Mar. More sandy beach and quieter. Surroundings are beautiful. Boat trip takes you round the coast and into some caves. Price is reasonable but why cause a fuss as your on holiday! Definitely worth a trip!
Great beach, really quiet and free parking off season, although the amenities (restaurant, swimming pool and children’s playground are closed)
Beautiful place with a nice restaurant!

Super beautiful bay just 5 min drive from Tossa. The beach is good equipped, you can find there toilet, restaurant, children playground. Everything new and clean. It is also very easy to enter the water compare to other beaches and it has a quite wide sand stripe which is nice if you travel with a baby. The bay is very popular so it is better to be there earlier to catch a parking slot. Unfortunately it is impossible to park hourly 😢, only for a day, the price 20 euro.
A beautiful beach and pocket of paradise. Just be aware that if hiking from Tossa de Mar, the journey can be quite overwhelming as there is lots of up and downs.
Great hike from Tossa, might reconsider if you are someone with mobility issues or of older age. Views are really nice, restaurant, bathrooms and rentals available
We hiked here from Cala Bona — the views on the way were amazing. Small beach with clear water, mix of sand and pebbles. There's also a nice little restaurant with tasty food, fair prices, and take away option. Perfect spot to relax and swim.
We were here in early May and had the place to ourselves. Very lucky out of season. Stunning beach with a cave and walking tracks to explore
Amazing small beach with nice water, there is a restaurant close by with affordable drinks. The place is magical.
If you're younger than 25, this is the place for you: lots of youth, a DJ playing music on loud volume and you probably don't care that you have to walk 2 km from the nearest parking. However, if you're coming here with a family and want to enjoy a nice and relaxing day at the beach, then I'd suggest to continue to Cala Giverola. The view is very nice though.
Beautiful views near the cove, the waves were too strong for swimming. The campsite is closed so there are no restaurants or bars, it’s best to bring you own food and drinks. Accessible by bus and a small hike down the mountain from Giverola resort.

Great views of Tossa de Mar. However a bit of a hike for those less able. But worth it for the view. Shame there isn't better access and made more accessable as those of the Vila Vella.
Torre was closed for public. Nice view over Tossa de Mar
Stunning view on the city.. I guess I ve picked a wrong road so, I was suffering while getting to the top, otherwise I'd put 5
Great views from the tower
We are amazed by the Moroccan civilization that passed through here. the Moorish castle🇲🇦❤️
This is a tower that you walk up admire the view and walk down again. Ok to visit if you are passing but not something to Ho out of your Way to see.
Very picturesque and interesting area to explore.

Sant Vicenç de Tossa, built between 1755 and 1776, is a large church in Tossa de Mar, characterized by its late Baroque style. It features a central nave with lower side chapels, Corinthian pilasters, and a polygonal presbytery. The facade, made of Montjuïc stone, includes an entrance with an arched portal, the municipal coat of arms, and a statue of Saint Vincent. Initially decorated with Baroque altarpieces, much was destroyed in 1936, with some restoration occurring post-Civil War.
It's such a beautiful church that is absolutely stunning inside donations welcomed. Candles can be light for lost loved ones small candle 1 euro up to a large candle 2,50 euro.
Beautiful church inside a beautiful neighborhood.
Beautiful place to celebrate mass. Thank you for welcoming us. I wish there was a way to make a digital offering!
Arrived for 10am mass as indicated on website. No mass on at this time ... mass on at 12.30 instead. 10am times not changed on web page ... please change it so people are not led astray
Lovely church. Located just off of the small streets with the shops and restaurants. A quiet haven amongst the hustle & bustle. Lovely statues along the length of the church.
Really beautiful cathedral you must visit if you go to Tossa. You can turn on the ceiling lights for just a euro and it really changes the way you see it, it's worth to invest this money on that.

What a place , and is a must view if you are in the area. This is why everyone says Tossa de Mar is the nicest place on Costa Brava
Small but very informative and interesting visit to the light house museum. The front of the house greeted us well and gave a very insightful discussion about the lighthouse and local area. It's small and has few exhibits but don't let that put you off. The information and video are really good. Some of the lamp systems used as the primary lighting are on display. I found that really fascinating. Especially for me I liked (technical bit) a three phase incandescent 1300w 125v lamp. At first glance it looks normal. Looking closer seeing multiple contacts... And realising that it was more than a standard lamp. Simple things, made me smile. The front of house was super friendly. Why not pop in and say hello... Or just enjoy some fantastic views...
Breathtaking view of Tossa de Mar beach and city. Must visit if you’re in the city. Just a bit hard for seniors to go up walking, but small group car is available with charges of course.
We went to Tossa De Mar a few years ago it is a beautiful little Spanish seaside town over looked by the historic castle, this is one of many of our favourite places in this lovely country...The Castle ruins are lovely to look around with great views of the Coast & this lovely little picturesque seaside town, there are lots of nice little side streets to explore with many shops & restaurants making it a great place to visit....would love to go back again as it one of our special places.....❤️👍
Very nice place at the end of coastal trail at tossa de mar. You get great views , best in all of costa brava from here . Must visit . Please check light house opening timings before going .
We went in may on weekend and it was empty so we really enjoyed and had a really nice time. The view is beautiful and the parts of fortress got us back to the days of pirates. You can’t come near with car because this is pedestrian part.
Cap de Tossa Lighthouse is a must-visit! The walk up through the old town and castle walls 🏰 is beautiful, and once you reach the top, the views over the coastline are absolutely breathtaking 🌊.

Small but very interesting, very peaceful and free entry.
FREE ENTRY.......Not very big, 10-15 minutes, and you will have walked around not very accessible for prams or wheelchairs. As climbing stairs are required. But overall, an interesting visit with my two children to the old roman villa ruins.
This is definitely a must-visit site while in Tossa de Mar. I cannot believe it was free to get in, and the place was so well preserved. A few information boards were missing, but that’s understandable given it’s free. Super interesting to find out about the more ancient side of Tossa
Interesting but not the best, good because it's free
No tickets needed, just walk through the gate. Only takes about half an hour if you really linger and contemplate how the Roman baths would have been laid out. Unfortunately most of the information plaques have been removed. So difficult to know what any of it might have been. Stairs are a must if you want to see most of it.
A quite extensive villa with fragments of mosaics and remains of the hypocaust along with other buildings. Well worth a visit especially because it's free.
Had no idea there was a Roman settlement this far North of Barcelona..found this location purely by accident and am very happy we did...there is a few very well preserved tile floors here...awesome
Good to fill a few minutes by taking a walk around the Roman ruins. The story of the excavation is in the museum at the Villa Vella

Hey there! Just got back from Tossa de Mar and had to spill the beans about the Museo Municipal de Tossa de Mar. Here's why you should definitely check it out: - **🏛️ Atmosphere:** The museum is housed in a charming, historic building right in the heart of the old town. The vibe is cozy and intimate—perfect for history buffs and casual visitors alike. - **🎨 Art & Exhibits:** It boasts a small but fascinating collection of art, including works from Marc Chagall. The mix of archaeological artifacts gives a cool glimpse into the region's past. - **🏞️ Scenic Surroundings:** Don’t miss the views from the old town walls nearby—breathtaking coastline and medieval vibes! - **🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Friendly Staff:** The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. They’re happy to share stories and answer any questions you might have. - **⏰ Timing Tips:** It’s not a huge place, so you can comfortably see everything in about an hour. Perfect for a laid-back afternoon. - **💡 Insider Advice:** Combine your museum visit with a stroll around the old town and grab some tapas afterward at a nearby café. 🍽️ Overall, it's a lovely spot that gives you a bit of culture without feeling overwhelming. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Tossa de Mar! 😊
For a tiny museum this place is excellent. It has two outstanding pieces. The Chagall and a Roman floor mosaic from the nearby villa. It's worth visiting just for these, but there's more art and archaeology to occupy you for half an hour or so. I loved the frog and crab sculptures, also from the villa, I think.
Old Town is so beautiful
Very small museum, hardly worth visiting. Also very cheap, so there is no loss there. Highlight is the work of Marc Chagall, for whom Tossa was his favorite vacation destination. Nice for a day when the weather is not so good.
Housed in nice, historic building. There's some interesting Roman artifacts & exhibits about Roman construction. The local art displays are ok but not much space. 3€ entry reflects small scale nature of Museum.
Nice unpretentious little museum, worth the asking price. It has the Chagall, but also lots of Roman remains in good condition.
An interesting little museum. A bit of a haven from the throngs of tourists. It was empty. Good roman artefacts and nice collection of art. I was interested to find out more about Iain Mcnab. Scottish printmaker.
For a small local museum was interesting. Roman stuff from a local excavation, local art. Including a pic of Tossa by Chagall called The Celestial Violinist

The hotel is great for solo travel, hosts were so lovely and kind they let me checked in early :) for me the location is perfect, i could walk to nearby attractions and enjoy the vibe of this town at night.
Some might like, but not for my taste. The location is near to most attractions but at the same time super noisy in the evening. The buildings are really close to each other and I couldn’t sleep because of the neighbors conversations & tv noises.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights - first of all, location is perfect! Also, the room has all the necessary amenities one would need and it’s clean and lovely, simple but nice. The attention though is what was the very best - all really nice people who made our stay feel so effortless. Even at the end, we had to check out at 11 am but still wanted to spend the day in Tossa - so they said it was no problem for us to leave our luggage in the pensio and we could just pick it up whenever! It helped us out so much and allowed us to have another full day there:)!
What a fabalous place , perfect location near to the sea the castle, shops and restaurant. Wonderful host lovely breakfast highly recommend.
An unassuming guest house with impeccably clean rooms, lovely hosts, good rates, a roof terrace with great view and nicely located in old town next to Castillo de Tossa. A short walk to town centre (why bother) and an even shorter walk to the beach (3 mins). No airconditioning, but who needs it with tiled floors and pedestal fans. Wifi isn't going to break any records, but coverage seems good and it is reliable. Thank you Codolar 🤗

This is a hidden gem 1 hour drive from Barcelona. If you're looking for a beach surrounded by nature, good snorkeling and not too crowded spot this one is a winner.
Hard to access but what a pleasure
If you have small children I do not recommend this beach because it's not easily accesible.
(Translated by Google) Medium cove with difficult access. The descent is in very bad condition and the final part is complicated by having to enter through the water. Caution ⚠️ both going down and going up. You can park nearby (road area) it is very difficult to find parking.
(Translated by Google) Very nice cove! It is small and to go down there is a staircase that can be a little uncomfortable, but if you don't have a problem it is worth going down. Keep in mind that the sun starts to set early. I went in September and at 3:30 there was almost no direct sun. Ideal to go in the morning. (Original) Muy linda cala!
(Translated by Google) It is a wonderful cove! Bad? Having to cross a few meters between water and stones to access it (as there are waves, it reaches almost your waist 😅). I guess that's where its charm lies, the fact that it's not so crowded. That said, come down light, for your own good. And with appropriate footwear, we saw more than one slip! Still, it is worth visiting.
(Translated by Google) Very beautiful cove that you have to access by going down almost 300 steps and passing through some rocks that are inside the sea to access the sandy area (attached photo). It is essential to wear booties or closed water shoes. The water is transparent, with plenty of rock and a variety of fish. It is advisable to go early because being small it quickly fills up.

Good place to be! Parking 11 euro day. Good for little kids!
Small beach with beautiful views of the castle and rocks. At the top, lots of bars and restaurants, but it is almost impossible to find a parking space. In a minute there is a private parking at the top, if you fallowing one-way road from the beach for 20 euros for the day.
Platja Mar Menuda is absolutely beautiful! The water is crystal clear, and while swimming we saw plenty of fish, which made the experience even more special. 🐟 Definitely recommend bringing goggles 🥽 if you enjoy snorkeling or just want to admire the marine life. The beach is smaller and cozier compared to the main one in Tossa, giving it a more relaxed vibe. Perfect spot for both relaxing and exploring!
I spent few hours here. It was one of the best experience during my trip across East coast of Spain. This beach is one of the best in Costa Brava. Lovely view, clean water, environment, calm vibe and stunning sunset. Love it! Photos are under copyright: IG: peterpestaphotography
Secluded beach witch a mini coral reef. Very pleasant.
What are the most amazing beaches of been at such a great experience. Plenty of people without clothes .
Lovely little beach, very close to the main one but much quieter and with easier access into the sea.
Best beach around tossa Clean and tidy Good for sunbathing and swimming Decent restaurants nearby Highly recommend a visit 👌

A wonderful place! 🔥We really liked it. Not many people, at least on Monday ;) mostly tourists) to swim with a mask - to see the rocks, the underwater world, fish - wonderful! 🐟. Sometimes garbage washed up on the shore, but not much at all. 🫣The most important thing is the mood to come to the beach! ☺️ Parking for cars is 15€, moto is 5€ . There are two bars nearby. Wonderful place 🔥
Fabulous! Quiet, clean, water was perfect! A little cafe on the beach for food and drinks. Walking distance from our rented house. It could not be more beautiful. We loved the rocks and the view. We walked the beach to look for sea glass. It was very family friendly!
It's a very nice and quiet place because the urbanisation is only for residential but there is a very good beach service includes 2 restaurant s and diving school
One of my favorite locations in Costa Brava! Love it!
Beautiful beach. Very peaceful. We went only by the end of the day and they were barely anyone so we were able to bring our dog with us.
Really nice secluded beach with bars, clear water. Sand is a bit coarse and no deck chair or umbrella to rent and no car park. All of this is okay since we were leaving nearby at walking distance. For us, nicest beach in a long time
Parking 10eur. The beach is sand/stones. Water is perfect even waves. Bar, diving, boat rentals available.
Nice place No easy accesible. Parking place for 10€

15 min walk down well worth it , bring your stuff there is nothing but beach. The waters are clear and shore is nice and sandy.
Leave your car on side of road you find path to beach no problem these an old abandoned cafe restaurant at end of path. U set the alarm of as u walk past. But it worth its amazing beach with huge cliffs clear water. This beach is nude. And pretty empty I loved it get your kit off and enjoy the peace the space the wildness
Clear water beach, quite big for this part of Costa Brava. Parking space for 7€/day
I would give it 5 stars except for the expensive parking (15€) and nudist beach… but really, beautiful and very secluded.
Lovely wild beach with not many people!
Beautiful beach accessible by a steep dirtroad descent with parking for 8 euro at the bottom.
Probably one of best nudist beaches in the costa brava shore!
edit in 09/2022: the new landowner closed off the parking, thus making this beach almost literally inaccesible! one of the best beaches in costa brava, if you ask me! the private parking is little bit hidden from view if you come from barcelona side. it’s a reaaaaally sharp right turn (or you go with the path, turn around in one of the dirt roads up ahead).
