Platja Gran is one of the three main beaches in Tossa. It's located next to Villa Vela, the old town, and offers a stunning coastal experience. La Mar Menuda Beach is a bit more touristy and offers sports equipment for rent, while El Colador beach provides a relaxing sunbathing spot behind the walls. The town also boasts nice restaurants and late bars catering to tourists.
If you're looking for a little getaway from Barcelona, this place is absolutely worth it! Just a quick 1-2 hour trip, and suddenly you're in a dreamy seaside town with crystal-clear waters and the most peaceful vibes. It's super easy to find a quiet beach to relax, soak up the sun, and just forget about everything for a while. Plus, the whole town is walkable, and there's so much Catalan history to explore along the way. Whether you're here for the beaches, the views, or just a break from the city, Tossa de Mar won't disappoint! 🏖️🧘‍♀️

Breathtaking Beach with History and Heart Platja Gran is hands down one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Brava. The setting is absolutely magical — soft golden sand, crystal-clear waters, and the medieval castle of Tossa de Mar rising just above the shoreline. It feels like stepping into a postcard. The beach is clean, well-maintained, and perfect for both relaxing and swimming. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, so it’s easy to grab a drink or some tapas without leaving the sea view behind. Families, couples, and solo travelers alike will find something to love here. The real charm is the blend of natural beauty and historical atmosphere. Watching the sunset over the castle walls is something you won’t forget. A must-visit if you’re anywhere near Costa Brava — peaceful, stunning, and unforgettable.

Platja Gran is the main beach of Tossa de Mar and one of the most iconic spots on the Costa Brava. Perfectly framed by the turquoise waters of the bay and the medieval walls of the old town (Murallas de la Vila Vella), it offers a postcard-perfect setting that blends history with natural beauty. In the summer season, it can get very busy—unsurprising given its central location and charm—but there’s usually still space to lay down your towel if you look around. The sand is the typical coarse-gravel texture found on many Costa Brava beaches, comfortable enough for sunbathing and great for keeping the water crystal clear. Its location right next to the promenade means you’re only steps away from cafés, restaurants, and shops, making it ideal for a full day out. Whether you want to swim in calm waters, take in the incredible views, or enjoy a leisurely seaside lunch, Platja Gran is a must-visit when in Tossa de Mar.
Bart — Google review
Coarse and abrasive sand, but still worth visiting. Beautiful vista. Mountains surround the beach. Young crowd. Best to bring water socks. The beach is adjacent to food & drinks. Beach has a volleyball net. Chair & umbrella rental options were not spotted while I was there.
Adam H — Google review
The beach is very picturesque and is located in a bay. There is a large number of places for towels, and it is also possible to rent sun loungers. There is a parking lot nearby for 4 euros per hour under a barrier, we parked the car in the blue parking zone, which can be paid for using the Telpark app. The beach is not mixed, but small pebbles, the entry into the water is pleasant. The water temperature is refreshing and slightly lower, compared to Barcelona and Salou. There are quite a lot of nudist girls on the beach, so if you are traveling with children, think twice. If you are a single man, you can not think) Near the beach, enough cafes and a grocery store with a good selection.
Radion K — Google review
Platja Gran is the main beach of Tossa de Mar, right in front of the medieval old town walls 🏰absolutely stunning views while you swim or sunbathe!

Beauty is lost for now undes thousands of towels and sunbathers , owercrouded during this july, no place in water to enjoy the waves. Just like Barcelona baches. Absolute anonimity in crowd of strangers :) tourist season

Cala Giverola is a small, pine-fringed cove located about 5 kilometers north of Tossa de Mar in Costa Brava. It offers a naturally striking beach experience with wild, rugged cliffs and beautiful turquoise waters. The bay is surrounded by rocky hills covered with pine trees, creating an exceptional location between the azure blue of the Mediterranean Sea. This almost 200-meter-long sandy beach is popular for families and offers various amenities such as showers and sunbeds.
Beautiful beach to relax and enjoy some fresh breeze from the ocean. The views are amazing, you can get there by boat from Tossa de Mar which also goes through some beautiful caves before arriving here.
Julian C — Google review
Nice beach. Coarse sand and stones. Clear water with a rich underwater flora and fauna. Snorkelling equipment is quite recommended. At the restaurant you need wait to be seated about 30 minutes. The menu is pizza and pasta. Nothing special. There is even no any green salad. The parking is quite busy even thought it costs 20 eur a day. We arrived at 12:30 and it was a miracle we were parked. So you need to come there earlier.
Dmitry V — Google review
It is an amazing little isolated place. There are a few restaurants and a hotel. You can either go here by hiking or by a boat. It's not that far by hiking, just 1.5hrs. Boat is expensive as they are tourist boats with glass bottoms, which I would suggest to avoid if you are on a budget. The water is a bit warmer here. But there are lots of stones so a bit difficult to get into and out of the water... But once in, it's paradise. I went on a week day so there were few people.
Prasad A — Google review
Very nice beach, nice atmosphere. Good for families. Nice snorkeling too. Has a beach bar and restaurant, but did not make use of that. Hope that you're lucky to park alongside the road, other wise you're stuck with paying a ridiculous €30! However, parking is free after 18.00.

Day trip from Tossa de Mar. More sandy beach and quieter. Surroundings are beautiful. Boat trip takes you round the coast and into some caves. Price is reasonable but why cause a fuss as your on holiday! Definitely worth a trip!

Platja Mar Menuda is one of the three lovely beaches in Tossa de Mar, offering a mix of fine sand and shallow waters that make it perfect for families and those seeking a safe swimming spot. The beach is also close to restaurants and hotels, making it convenient for visitors. For more active pursuits, the nearby Lloret de Mar resort offers activities like waterskiing, jet skiing, and parasailing.
Good place to be! Parking 11 euro day. Good for little kids!

Small beach with beautiful views of the castle and rocks. At the top, lots of bars and restaurants, but it is almost impossible to find a parking space. In a minute there is a private parking at the top, if you fallowing one-way road from the beach for 20 euros for the day.

Platja Mar Menuda is absolutely beautiful! The water is crystal clear, and while swimming we saw plenty of fish, which made the experience even more special. 🐟 Definitely recommend bringing goggles 🥽 if you enjoy snorkeling or just want to admire the marine life. The beach is smaller and cozier compared to the main one in Tossa, giving it a more relaxed vibe. Perfect spot for both relaxing and exploring!

I spent few hours here. It was one of the best experience during my trip across East coast of Spain. This beach is one of the best in Costa Brava. Lovely view, clean water, environment, calm vibe and stunning sunset. Love it! Photos are under copyright: IG: peterpestaphotography

Es Codolar beach is a picturesque spot in Costa Brava, situated beneath the ancient castle walls of Tossa de Mar. As one of the three city beaches in Tossa de Mar, it can get quite busy during the summer months. Once a fishing spot, remnants of local fishermen's boats can still be seen on the sandy shores, adding to its charm.
Escodolar Beach is a hidden gem in Costa Brava! Crystal-clear water, dramatic cliffs, and a peaceful vibe make it perfect for relaxing or a scenic swim. It’s a bit off the beaten path, which means fewer crowds and a more authentic, untouched feel. Bring water shoes if you plan to explore the rocky areas, and don’t forget your camera—the views are stunning. One of the most beautiful and serene spots we visited on the coast!
Dustin P — Google review
The beach is very beautiful, but also quite small, so gets crowded easily. The view of the fortress is unique and beautiful, there are a lot of stones in the water, making walking quite hard without special shoes.
Hrisi V — Google review
Clearly one of the most unique beaches you can visit. Tiny, wedged between two mountains, and gorgeous. Get there early to get a spot. The beach only has space for approx 100-150 people. If you can’t get a spot here, just walk to the other beach (Platja Gran) which is a short walk, though not nearly as memorable. Sand is stony & sharp so aqua shoes are reccomended. No bathroom facilities, except for a nearby restaurant. No beach chair or umbrella rental, and no lifeguards. The town nearby (5 minutes away) has plenty of food options. Make sure to visit the castle (Muralles) before coming here - it is also an unforgettable sight.
Adam H — Google review
Es Codolar is a hidden gem just below Tossa’s old town walls 🏰. It’s a small, cozy beach with clear turquoise water and a peaceful atmosphere. Perfect if you want something quieter than the main beach. Bring water shoes if you don’t like pebbles, and goggles 🥽 for spotting fish. Truly a picturesque spot to relax by the sea! 🌊
Mousa S — Google review
Was just okay , the water is soo dirty to be honest but the place and city is soo nice , there's a small beach bar there , they are not friendly at all i swear , i don't recommend it 😓
Traveler W — Google review
It's truly an amazing beach. It can get very busy, but well worth it if you find a spot. It's a perfect spot for snorkeling, as long as you can avoid the occasional jellyfish. Highly recommend you get some goggles with you, because it's quite the experience to see all the fish you're swimming with.
Marius C — Google review
Absolutely tranquil beach. Just behind the main part of Tossa Del Mar main town. The water is perfect and clear though it is quite difficult to find space there so make sure to go early especially if it is in peak season. I went during off peak and it was still packed.

Very nice small beach with nice underwater view, nice for snorkeling. Course sand, sharp stones, wear water shoes.

Cala Pola is a beautiful beach located just 2km away from Tossa de Mar. The area offers a variety of other beaches within close proximity, such as Platja de la Mar Menuda and Cala de l'Ull de Vidre, all within a few kilometers. Additionally, visitors can explore cultural venues like the Museu del Mar Maritime Museum and Castillo de Tossa de Mar, both just a short distance away.
Super beautiful bay just 5 min drive from Tossa. The beach is good equipped, you can find there toilet, restaurant, children playground. Everything new and clean. It is also very easy to enter the water compare to other beaches and it has a quite wide sand stripe which is nice if you travel with a baby. The bay is very popular so it is better to be there earlier to catch a parking slot. Unfortunately it is impossible to park hourly 😢, only for a day, the price 20 euro.
Iryna K — Google review
A beautiful beach and pocket of paradise. Just be aware that if hiking from Tossa de Mar, the journey can be quite overwhelming as there is lots of up and downs.
F — Google review
Great hike from Tossa, might reconsider if you are someone with mobility issues or of older age. Views are really nice, restaurant, bathrooms and rentals available
Daniela B — Google review
We hiked here from Cala Bona — the views on the way were amazing. Small beach with clear water, mix of sand and pebbles. There's also a nice little restaurant with tasty food, fair prices, and take away option. Perfect spot to relax and swim.
Maria S — Google review
We were here in early May and had the place to ourselves. Very lucky out of season. Stunning beach with a cave and walking tracks to explore
Daniela P — Google review
Amazing small beach with nice water, there is a restaurant close by with affordable drinks. The place is magical.
Stefan T — Google review
If you're younger than 25, this is the place for you: lots of youth, a DJ playing music on loud volume and you probably don't care that you have to walk 2 km from the nearest parking. However, if you're coming here with a family and want to enjoy a nice and relaxing day at the beach, then I'd suggest to continue to Cala Giverola. The view is very nice though.
Christopher — Google review
Beautiful views near the cove, the waves were too strong for swimming. The campsite is closed so there are no restaurants or bars, it’s best to bring you own food and drinks. Accessible by bus and a small hike down the mountain from Giverola resort.

Muralles de Tossa de Mar, also known as Vila Vella (Old Town), is a historic 12th-century castle with well-preserved fortification walls and numerous towers. Originally constructed under the control of the Benedictine abbot Santa Maria de Ripoll, this iconic structure provided protection from enemies with its strategic location on Mt. Guardi overlooking the sea and surrounded by steep cliffs and city walls.
Beautiful views over the sea & Tossa de mar. Good coastal path to follow with safe platforms for photographs & beautiful viewing . Natural plants & trees and shaded areas. It's quite a steep climb by steps or easier but slower road to the cliff paths.
Isobel O — Google review
A quick photographic opportunity on a flying visit whilst exploring the Costa Brava. We parked about a 10-15 minute walk further inland, stopped for an ice-cream, which considering it's the height of the peak summer season was at a price one can expect €9 for two ice creams and a bottle of water. The beach was crowded. So we decided to walk around the castle walls and take a couple of photos.
Ben M — Google review
A must-visit historical site, rich with culture and stories from the past. The area is lively and full of charm, with plenty of souvenir shops, ice cream stands, and restaurants—perfect for a relaxed day trip. K-drama fans will especially appreciate this spot as a famous lookout point featured in The Legend of the Blue Sea (Lee Min Ho, Jun Ji Hyun) We were lucky to enjoy the stunning scenery on a beautiful day, which made the experience even more memorable.
Allie — Google review
It's not a particularly special attraction, and the beach along the coast isn't very long or large as compared with LA, Thailand or others. There are a number of restaurants and small shops, though. Honestly, it's definitely not a must-see. If you have more time in Barcelona, it's worth considering.

What a picturesque place to be . Very easy uphill hike . Well marked . Amazing views of Mediterranean Sea on your left and beautiful beach line and town on the other , you just can’t miss this lovely hike. Carry some water , hat and also a light jacket . We went around 17.30 and it was a nice sunny day of 15th May 2025 . Yet the wind on the top was so gusty that I had to put in my hoodie to keep myself warm . The weather was pleasant but wind will sweep you off your feet. You see great views from top and also cute village lanes to walk at some points. You will come across beautiful statues and also the light house. The lighthouse opens in stipulated timings . We could not enter but see from outside . Views from that point are extra ordinary. Spring brought several wild flowers blooming and made the views and rocks look more beautiful
Mamata B — Google review
Tossa De Mar is a classy town, and if you go, amble through the streets and then ascend by the steps in town or by the beach. The climb is steady, and there are stunning views all round. The lighthouse at the top is well worth the extra steps with the stunning vista at the top is unforgettable.

It's an ideal spot for families seeking a peaceful dining experience away from the tourist crowds. The restaurant boasts a warm and welcoming atmosphere, nestled within charming narrow streets. One of its highlights is the high-quality homemade dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients, ensuring a delightful culinary experience.
A charming and cozy place in the heart of the old town. The tapas were delicious, the sangria was refreshing, and the staff were incredibly friendly. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy the local atmosphere.

Local spot with no frills, but good quality food. All 3 servers I encountered were so friendly, one even called me over away from my table to show me the view during sunset (must have saw I was taking pics of everything), lovely experience dining on my own. Can’t recommend it enough!

Cozy little place. My fiancé and I had a tapas lunch here and were very pleased. However, the most important thing: GET THE ESQUEIXADA. It is the best, most delicious , and perfect dish I have ever had. Don’t miss this 👏

Love this place! Without a doubt, they have the best cava sangria in town. The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful and so quaint, perfect for a relaxed afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside. The kids loved it too! Don't even get me started on the food – the bravas were great, and every Spanish dish we tried was delicious. Our waitress was also lovely, adding to the overall fantastic experience!

The best Patatas Bravas we have ever had. The sauce was slightly spicy and delicious! Cute, quaint, outdoor eating area you would expect in a little town. BUT, the young female waitress was so rude to us, probably because we are not local/Spanish. She was very friendly and smiled to other customers who spoke Spanish. She was borderline rude to us. Even when I tried to compliment her on her establishment she is still showed me her RBF. I would go back next time before we visit if it were not for her.

Mediterranean restaurant
La Cuina de Can Simón is a charming restaurant set in a historic 1700s house, where brothers Josep Maria and Xavier Lores-Gelpi honor their heritage and the local community through traditional yet innovative cuisine. The menu features tapas, raw seafood, and upscale fish dishes, all beautifully presented. The cozy finca-style dining room with rustic accents adds to the inviting atmosphere of this culinary gem in Tossa de Mar.
I accidentally stumbled upon this gem without knowing anything about it. I was wandering through the quiet lanes of Tossa de Mar on a weekday afternoon when I noticed this beautiful spot. Although I wasn’t hungry, I just wanted to sit down and enjoy a nice cup of coffee with some local dessert while taking in the view of the fort. One of the owners (I didn’t know this until later that evening) greeted me warmly and served me himself. I had their cheese with honey and a black coffee, and I absolutely loved sitting outside, savoring my dessert. I only wish I had known beforehand that this is a Michelin-starred restaurant and that I was meeting one of the finest chefs. I would definitely stop by again if I visit Tossa de Mar in the future to try more of their renowned dishes.
Sudeshna B — Google review
The food was a generally a disappointment for the price you pay although some dishes stood out as stellar (eg beef ribs that were prepared to perfection and very fancy). The place seems a bit stuck in time and has not really followed Spanish cuisine and style into the 21st century, but it is clear that they are trying. Service was OK and as a happy surprise all drinks (beer, wines, etc) were included in the tasting menu price.
Victor C — Google review
We stumbled across this gem while exploring the town. Such an exceptional experience delivered by a professional & knowledgeable team. Shout out to Anna for sharing some history about the area y region, for guiding us through each beautiful dish, and for truly making our visit a special one. Each plate was as delicious as the last. Muchas gracias from Australia.
Kaelan O — Google review
Not recommended for Asian customers. The service was quite underwhelming — both the heavyset waiter and the young female waitress had rather poor attitudes. The young woman in particular ignored my English and kept responding in Spanish, which felt intentionally dismissive. At one point, they even insisted on asking where I was from — a question I found unnecessary and uncomfortable. They also have someone standing outside just to draw in customers, which felt a bit odd. We were given a rather poor table, while other walk-in guests were seated at tables marked as “reserved.” Food service was not especially fast either. The portion sizes are huge — honestly, one main dish is more than enough for two people.
Scarlett L — Google review
The food is incredible. They definitely deserved their Michelin star. Well worth it if your visiting Tossa de Mar. It is easily the best restaurant around the touristy waterfront area, and offers a more relaxed but upscale atmosphere then the busy outdoor cafes. It's not as cheap as some other restaurants, but still not as expensive as what you'd find in a big city.
Jeff C — Google review
The dining experience at Can Simon is nearly beyond words! It is a flavor journey from the region begging with the sea. Every dish is precisely created to build off of the flavor of the previous. Two things are a must for here, do the tasting menu and the wine pairing. Each of the wines are thoughtfully paired with the dishes to bring out the flavor in each. It would be a tragedy to not experience the wine selection with that journey of a meal. We also had the pleasure of interacting with Josep throughout the meal. His passion about food and wine transcends any language barrier. Its clear why people speak so highly of Can Simon, every compliment and award is earned with he and his brothers dedication. It truly was the best and most memorable meal of my life! Gracias Josep!

I recently visited La Cuina de Can Simón in Tossa de Mar with my partner, and it was hands-down the most memorable and delicious meal we’ve had in town. Nestled right by the medieval murallla, this restaurant delivers a warm, intimate atmosphere that sets the stage for something truly special. From the moment we stepped inside, the staff greeted us with genuine kindness. They were welcoming, attentive, and took the time to answer all our questions. We opted for the tasting menu, and every dish was a masterpiece: fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented, and evolving with each course. What really blew us away was that we didn’t initially realize the tasting menu included wine pairings. Each wine thoughtfully complemented the dish it accompanied, elevating the flavors in a way we hadn't anticipated but absolutely loved. Overall, it was a wonderful experience: impeccable service, outstanding cuisine, and the added bonus of perfectly paired wines. Definitely the best meal we’ve had in Tossa de Mar and a spot we’ll be raving about for a long time!

Wonderful and luxury food experience. I especially loved Gazpacho with prawns. You will enjoy hint of seafood unexpectedly in different dishes, which I loved a lot. For main dish, I got steak instead of Tartar. The souce of the steak had quite distinct taste, which I was not a big fan, but my partner enjoyed it a lot. I tried Tartar as well and I think it harmonized much better with whole selection. I liked three different soft drink ice cream, which was very fun :) Overall, very pleasant experience

This restaurant should definitely be on your visit list. Don't miss out. Good variety, gluten free options available. The waiter was very nice and kind also his knowledge about the menu were top level. We had some specials recommended and we were not disappointed.Food was super fresh and delicious.

Amazing restaurant in Tossa de Mar! We stayed in Tossa for eight days in July 2025 and came to Tursia for three evenings. Everything from the warm welcome to the wine, the cocktails and the food was just delightful. The family that runs the restaurant made us feel at home the minute we walked in, we tried a lot of the dishes on the menu and were always very very happy. So glad we found you! Thank you so so much for the lovely time! Our favorite restaurant in Tossa by far! All the best, from Odette and family!

Excellent food and very friendly staff we experienced. The waiter explained and recommend the menu to us on arrival, and was helpful in picking drinks. Our favourite meal on our trip to Tossa. 3 courses with 2 drinks about 40-50€ per person.

My friend and I spent the day in Tossa and kinda randomly decided to have lunch in this restaurant cause the reviews were good. We arrived there without a reservation and they told us to come back in 30min. The restaurant was full, which to me is always a good thing! We came back, got seated immediately. Daniel was our server and he was great, provided great service! The food was amazing, specially the foi gras we had to start. We had the whole fish, dessert, coffee, wine… the price was fair! Would def come back again!

Vil·la romana dels Ametllers is an archaeological site located in the center of Tossa de Mar, offering a glimpse into the ancient Roman way of life. Divided into two parts, it features well-preserved elements such as bathing areas, swimming pools, and mosaics. The villa was dedicated to vineyard cultivation and mass-market wine export, showcasing classic Roman agricultural exploitation.
Small but very interesting, very peaceful and free entry.

FREE ENTRY.......Not very big, 10-15 minutes, and you will have walked around not very accessible for prams or wheelchairs. As climbing stairs are required. But overall, an interesting visit with my two children to the old roman villa ruins.
Richard M — Google review
This is definitely a must-visit site while in Tossa de Mar. I cannot believe it was free to get in, and the place was so well preserved. A few information boards were missing, but that’s understandable given it’s free. Super interesting to find out about the more ancient side of Tossa
JB — Google review
Interesting but not the best, good because it's free
Matt C — Google review
No tickets needed, just walk through the gate. Only takes about half an hour if you really linger and contemplate how the Roman baths would have been laid out. Unfortunately most of the information plaques have been removed. So difficult to know what any of it might have been. Stairs are a must if you want to see most of it.

A quite extensive villa with fragments of mosaics and remains of the hypocaust along with other buildings. Well worth a visit especially because it's free.

The Cap de Tossa Lighthouse, also known as Far de Tossa, stands at the highest point of Vila Vella in Tossa de Mar, Spain. Built in 1917 to replace rudimentary light signals, it occupies the site of a former medieval castle and serves as a crucial guide for ships navigating the rocky and sometimes perilous Costa Brava coastline.
What a place , and is a must view if you are in the area. This is why everyone says Tossa de Mar is the nicest place on Costa Brava

Small but very informative and interesting visit to the light house museum. The front of the house greeted us well and gave a very insightful discussion about the lighthouse and local area. It's small and has few exhibits but don't let that put you off. The information and video are really good. Some of the lamp systems used as the primary lighting are on display. I found that really fascinating. Especially for me I liked (technical bit) a three phase incandescent 1300w 125v lamp. At first glance it looks normal. Looking closer seeing multiple contacts... And realising that it was more than a standard lamp. Simple things, made me smile. The front of house was super friendly. Why not pop in and say hello... Or just enjoy some fantastic views...

Best food we had in Tossa de Mar. I got the beef filet which was cooked perfectly, came with a delicious sauce, french fries, and vegetables. The seabass was to die for. Perfectly combined with potatoes and melted in your mouth. We strolled in after seeing the seabass on the menu, and I’m so glad we did. Amazing flavors, great atmosphere, incredible service, stunning location. Were also served a shot on the house to end off the meal. Highly recommend!

Perhaps our favorite meal in Tossa. We got the pre fixe menu, which includes a first course of tuna crudo, calamari, and mussels, followed by a main course of the black paella and seafood paella. All were excellent. For dessert, a lemon pie and a pistachio cheesecake! And at €35 a person (including a bottle of wine), a very good deal!
Kurt P — Google review
No joke, probably the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. Highly recommend the oxtail, monkfish, tuna tartar, calamari, and skate. Everything was truly amazing. The ambiance was also so nice. Wish I could eat here everyday.

Don’t go! We were recommended this restaurant and the reviews were great, however I can’t say it’s the best food in Tossa. We had the set menu. The starters were okay, the seafood paella absolutely terrible. Zero flavour. The sangria was nice as were the desserts. Service was friendly and the location is right next to the castle so can’t complain. Just wish the meal itself was good. It’s simply wasn’t. I’d give this a swerve.

In the charming town of Tossa de Mar, you can find a bronze statue dedicated to the iconic actress Ava Gardner. The statue was erected in her honor, as she filmed 'Pandora and the Flying Dutchman' in the area during the 1950s and fell in love with its beauty. Muralles de la Vila Vella, located in Tossa de Mar, is a well-preserved medieval wall circuit and towers that enclose a charming village. This coastal site was constructed between the 12th and 14th centuries to protect against piracy. The conservation of its elements such as towers, walls, and doors is excellent. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Tossa beach and forest lands from this vantage point.
What an amazing place. Charming little town with old medial castle. There are many shops/restaurants/bars on the way to road to the Castle. Once inside the old castle walls, it almost feels like you have travel back in time. There are also a few shops and restaurants within the walls. The views from walls and from a church at the top of the hill are amazing.
Victor M — Google review
Murallas de la Vila Vella in Tossa de Mar are an iconic and beautifully preserved medieval fortification, dating back to the 12th and 14th centuries. These impressive stone walls, complete with watchtowers and battlements, once served to protect the old town from pirates and invaders. Today, they stand as one of the most remarkable historical landmarks on the Costa Brava. Walking along the cobbled paths, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, the golden sandy beaches, and the charming old town’s narrow streets. The towers—such as Torre des Codolar and Torre de Joanás—are especially picturesque, often framed by the vibrant blue sky and sea. Inside the walls, the old quarter offers a step back in time, with its quaint stone houses, small artisan shops, and inviting restaurants. It’s a place where history and beauty blend perfectly, creating a unique atmosphere. Visiting at sunrise or sunset makes the experience even more magical, as the soft light casts golden hues over the ancient stones. Whether you’re a history lover, a photography enthusiast, or simply seeking one of Tossa de Mar’s most beautiful spots, Murallas de la Vila Vella is an unmissable highlight.

Tossa de Mar is the only remaining example of a fortified medieval town on the Catalan coast. Its present appearance dates back to the 14th century. It still has the entire original perimeter with battlemented stone walls, four turrets, and three cylindrical towers with parapets.
Kent W — Google review
The walls of the old medieval town. It is worth visiting and it is a good way to make a tour of the village itself while having a nice view of the sea. You can walk most of the existing portions of the wall. The town itself is very preety with the narrow stone streets and the old houses. At the highest point you can enjoy snacks and drinks at a cafe and also a small museum in the lighthouse. At some point you can even find a statue of Ava Gardner with its story.
Cristian T — Google review
Not at all like a museum but a small community with bars, restaurants, shops and residential accommodation. Great location with a lot's of history, good views out to sea and out over the town. It has a small museum opening in the week, with a small entry fee. You can walk round on top of the fortified wall. There's a small land train that runs from the town to the light house and restaurant, at the top of the fortified village.

This is a wonderful natural spot (I actually visited Vallpresona cove for lovers of nature. The road is narrow and twisting with lovely views of the blue/green sea and the craggy cliffs. Vallpresona is accessed from a little roadside parking area. The path down is very steep at the start, and makes for difficult walking; very uneven and rutted. The cove is wonderfully isolated, rocky and backed by cliffs. The beach comprises pebbles of various sizes and is known as a naturist spot, although I wouldn't fancy trying to find somewhere comfy to lie down to sunbathe. I was the only person there, and I can't imagine it ever gets busy. Lovely clear water and birds singing. A really peaceful location.

This is the best vacation with kids that I ever had. Infrastructure is perfect for kids, and the location is heaven on earth. Only callout is rooms are a bit small, but you won't spend much time in them, 99% of our time we spent on terrace or pool or beach or hikes

The location is beautiful, magical and easy to find. The beach is clean, with waves and plenty of jellyfish. The bungalow is small with basic facilities. Bed linen and towels are cleaned and changed every 4 days. The service in the restaurants is bad, the employees are not in a good mood, they don't know English. Poor choice of food that is not tasty and it is expensive. The camp is very clean. The children's animators did a great job. The atmosphere in the camp is nice and calm.

Beautiful camping spot, recently completely renovated. In the middle of a very nice Green Bay. Reception service can be improved. Same goes for the cleaning of the toilets and showers. Beach is public and can be crowded but that’s manageable

We had the best camping experience in Spain so far. We stayed in the pool tramuntana with my husband and 1.5 year old son for 5 days. So comfortable facilities, pool is great for little ones, the activity room is also fun. They provide a comfy baby cot. The cala can be quite crowded in the afternoon so save your spot in the morning. Do not expect amazing food at the restaurant but serves decent stuff. The market is quite nice, you can find good quality food. The bungalows are on a quite hilly space and is not easy to walk with a stroller but everyone manages somehow:) The aesthetic of the overall place is a winner.

Lovely location. Beautifully renovated and the beach is stunning. This could have been the best campsite ever. But then there is a big downside though; the bathrooms and showers were not cleaned over the 2 days we’ve stayed here. The same stains of pee were on the toilet seat. Also The sink, the counters and walls in the shower had many disgusting stains of toothpaste and soap that’s been there for ages. The cleaners did come by, but they would sit down watch video’s on their phone until their time was up. Many management should do a check at least everyday… It really is a shame, since this could be thé best camp site we’ve been. It’s so well set up, but then it’s not cleaned and very dirty…Hopefully this will be fixed! 🤞🏻

We holidayed in July for a few days at Camping Cala Pola and we loved it! We were very pleased with the picturesque beach, the magical nature and a pleasant holiday in a clean, comfortable, well-maintained campsite. We really enjoyed the pool and the children enjoyed the entertainment programme. They were delighted! The food is delicious and quite varied. On the terrace on the beach was one great pleasure to have breakfast and enjoy the view of the sea. We were served by two very friendly and professional waitresses Alena and Svetlana, who were always able to advise on the choice of dishes and answer any question. This is the most marvellous place for family vacation❤️. We will definitely come back to you, but most likely we will choose the season when there are less people.

I think this is the best place to be in Costa brava. It's trully genuine and picturesque. The beach, the grounds, the bungalows everything it's a gem. We are staying in the beach bungalow, just a couple of steps to the beach and the pool. Everything is spotless and the staff is really kind especially the security guys keeping the place safe also during the night. They are very kind and help with any question. Service is 5 stars. On the beach you can rent a sup via app which I find fantastic. The grocery shop is small but has everything you need and prices are for some items even cheaper than in Tossa town. Guests at least during our stay were very polite and not noisy. The water pressure in the shower is great, the towels are plenty and there is a small kit for washing dishes. The sea is fantastic and there is plenty of fish to watch if you snorkel. The walking path leading to Tossa town from the Cala Pola is amazing. Walking through pine forest with fantastic stops with breathtaking views. We'll definitely come back!

We spent 4 nights at this campsite with a tent. Since we were there mid-September, we didn't have that many neighbours and could enjoy some peace and quiet as well as beautiful views of the sea. I really liked the fact that the campsite was next to several really nice beaches (3 in total, 1 of them a nudist beach) that had beach bars/restaurants (I definitely recommend Chringuito Mar Azul!). Getting down to the beaches involves climbing lots of steep stairs though - if you have bad knees, this could be quite a problem. The facilities of the campsite were also okay and clean (but to be fair, there weren't that many people using it at the time we were there either), but there's only 1 big house on a hill with all of the facilities and reaching them could be quite a walk/climb, depending on where you're staying. A big fat downside was the noise from all of the construction work all night long (!) during our last pre-booked night there, which deterred us from extending our time there. Another big problem was that we weren't informed about the fact that there are wild boars in the camping - they came to our tent during the first night there and scared the heck out of us. Please do not leave any food or trash outside!! All in all, I would recommend going there if you want 'wild' camping with sea views, but are willing to sacrifice convenience (no possibility to park on the lot next to your tent, facilities quite far and everywhere you go you have to climb stairs/go up hills).

I love this camping because of the location and the views. There is no comparison possible! They offer activities for kids and families, yoga, zumba, etc. The supermarket has all you may need. While there are a few good things about this camping like quite a good location and no problems on toilets etc. its really not worth it. We are here during Eastern and they charged us a bit more than 40 Euros per night for 3 people and a small Van; remember its not main season so thats quite expensive already. Furthermore the entire camping feels just empty and heartless and is just designed to generate Money (e.g by charging 5 Euros for 3 hours of WiFi) for the enormous Company owning it. To top it all off theres some completely unnecessary and stupid rules you need to follow; when we came there was a rather big storm going and we saw some people doing barbecue, so far so good. A few days later when we wanted to grill something and the storm was over and you couldnt see a leaf moving from wind we were prohibited to grill anything because of fear the imaginary "strong winds" Would light a fire somewhere with the coal. If youre not bothered by those kind of things or like it when its made for mass tourism go ahed, but were not going to come here ever again.

The site was big and parts of it were nice though many of the pitches are only accessible on foot. It is noisy especially late at night and it is in a steep hill. One of the sanitary blocks was closed and it was over half a kilometre to the next. We had a problem with our stay and an extension was agreed, reduced and finally cancelled. My complaint was responded to 4 weeks after it was made. I cannot recommend the management or customer service. I was offer a free 3 day stay as compensation but I won't be going back.

Cala Futadera is a secluded and tranquil cove located just 6km north of Tossa de Mar on the Costa Brava. This picturesque bay, also known as the 'cove of the 300 steps,' offers a serene atmosphere with its golden sandy beach and clear turquoise waters. Despite its small size and lack of facilities, it provides a unique experience for visitors seeking peace and isolation.
A beautiful little beach in a cove only accessible via 300 steps and climbing over rocks and through the sea. Totally worth it. There is also a small ledge cut into the rocks on the right hand side to walk along. Great for a a photo opportunity of the beach. Park your car at the top of the road, walk about 400 metres down the slope then attack the stairs!! Beautiful.
Richard G — Google review
Lovely quiet beach, nudist friendly. it is a steep walk down and ad its small, definitely recommend taking water, drinks and snacks with you. Ocean is beautifully clear, it is rock based on seabed, so need to be careful walking in water
Leanne S — Google review
Gorgeous cala from above, but on descent the water is dirty, the sand is absolutely disgusting and the pathway to the beach is 100 stairs followed by a hopscotch game of jumping through slippery rocks to reach land.
Angela P — Google review
Nice cala, accessible by long and steep stairs. To reach the beach part of the cala, you need to walk across on rocks with the water staying at hip level.
Adam S — Google review
Cozy beach very close to Tossa Del Mar. ideal for boating and protected from south wind.
Giuseppe L — Google review
Well of course is one of the many ‘hidden’ calas in always shiny and beautiful Costa Brava but is generally crowded. I wouldn’t mind that much for the crowds in the beach area but there are several (way too much, enviromentally speaking) boats, sailboats and private ships from all over just docked there, making the experience a bit invasive. There’s a nice staircase leading you to the beach area which for some people could be a bit challenging.
Jules C — Google review
Amazing landscape. One of the most beautiful places of the Costa Brava. There's an entry of stairs very well preserved, but there are quite a lot but nothing major. When you get down you have to go throw some rocks in the water (better go with water sandals). A must if you are in Catalonia!
Carol G — Google review
A beautiful beach, a bit tricky to access via a steep staircase and walking through water, but worth it. Tip: arrive early to find a parking spot (on the side of the road) and a space at the beach.

Kairos Barcelona Tours offers an unforgettable experience in Catalonia and Barcelona. The kayaking tour in Tossa del Mar is led by the amazing guide, Matias, who not only ensures safety but also shares captivating stories and facts about the area. His passion for nature and sustainability adds a genuine touch to the tour. The full-day scuba diving experience at Tossa de Mar is equally remarkable, with excellent instructors like Oliver and a delightful meal included.
We had the absolute pleasure of having Matias as our guide during our tour to Tossa de Mar, and I cannot recommend him enough! From start to finish, Matias was not just a guide—he was a wonderful caretaker who made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves. He constantly checked in with us, always with a warm smile, asking how we were doing. The tour itself was top-notch—great quality, perfectly timed, and everything ran punctually without feeling rushed. The three course meal was delicious as well. But what truly set this experience apart was Matias’ kindness. I accidentally left my glasses behind in Tossa de Mar, and to my surprise, Matias went out of his way to retrieve them and personally return them to me. That level of care and attention is rare and so appreciated. Truly a 10/10 experience—thanks to the beauty of the place and, most importantly, to Matias’ incredible hospitality. Highly recommended!

We booked the Tossa De Mar: Kayak and Snorkel Tour w/Paella from Barcelona. Our guide, Matias, was incredibly knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor that made the experience so much fun and memorable! He made us feel so comfortable, it felt like we knew him for ages. It was my first time kayaking, tour was easy-paced. I highly recommend Kairos Barcelona Tours if you want to have a memorable experience.

I had one of the best times of my life life in this trip! Matthias was very helpful and fun! He made sure every single detail is taken care of, from the moment we booked until we got back to our hotel! He’s super fun, super outgoing, super chill! He obviously loves what he does, thus, he makes sure you leave happy and fulfilled with the experience! The beach is amazing and it’s a bit different from what you see in Barcelona, the vibe is superb and the village looks a bit like Greek villages 🤩🤩🤩 I did scuba diving and the lady who helped me was very helpful, responsible and funny! This was my first experience and she made sure to make it safe and beautiful for me! The food in the restaurant we had lunch in was very tasty and it was an authentic experience there! I highly highly recommend the experience and the tour with Mathias! Totally 💯 worth all the money I paid 💯💯💯💯🤩🤩🤩🤩

Absolute MUST do trip! Highly recommend this tour if you’re in Barcelona. Costa Brava is an area you cannot skip when visiting Spain. Matias was our guide and he was astounding. We’ve done many tours and I can see he is in the top three probably ranking #1 in guides we’ve had. Very comfortable van ride into Tosa Del Mar where we did scuba diving and the rest of the group did kayaking. After, we all met up & had a local lunch. Matias explained the menu so well and also gave us his personal recommendation on how to explore the town after. We had 2.5 hours to be on our own- ending up climbing up the fortified castle and having drinks with amazing views and walking around the town after. Matias also went out of his way to give us access to the changing/equipment room with his own personal code where we were able to grab water shoes and snorkel gear to swim around the sea before time to go home. If you’re even considering this trip, just do it! Costa Brava is a GEM. We did a similar tour last year and it’s always the highlight of the whole trip. I cannot recommend Matias enough- 100/10 guide! He got us back to Barcelona safely and on time. I would do this trip over and over again! Bring towels & sunscreen!
Gagan D — Google review
This experience completely exceeded my expectations! Our tour guide Matias was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and passionate about the Costa Brava and these tours. The views of the coastline, cave interiors, snorkeling, and just being out on that beautiful blue water made for a journey that I never wanted to end. I would highly recommend this experience for everybody, and would definitely do it again!

This was the favorite part of our trip! Matias was excellent in helping us set up the tour and was communicative the entire time. My wife was a little nervous about the Kayaks, but Matias was an excellent guide, and we felt totally safe - even going into the caves. This tour gives you views of the coast you cannot get anywhere else and access to beaches and coves you can't find anywhere else. The lunch was good and the service excellent. Saw a small octopus while snorkeling. Water temp was awesome for snorkeling and the secluded area was perfect. After lunch I did a quick Scuba dive that Maias set up and while diving Matias arranged for a beach chair and umbrella for my wife to relax upfront in the crowded beach. First class service all around. After lunch we toured the town of Tossa de Mar - there is so much to do we will definitely be back. The Fortress is a must hike to the top for the views. I cannot recommend this tour, Matais and his team enough. If you do one day tour while in Barcelona this is the one! Book it now! For Scuba tour: Matias and the Kraken Dive group were outstanding. The beach dive is one of the best I've done. Lots to see and the equipment was first rate. All skill levels will have fun. We saw several eels and lots of fish. Water temp was great in August. I would highly recommend Matias and his team for any of their tours. The town is wonderful with lots to do. We are thinking about coming back and staying in Tossa de Mar for a couple days. This was a great day trip from Barcelona. Well worth the time. Do yourself a favor and book immediately. Thanks again Matias!

Matias was the best host and guide! We’re a family of five with adult kids in their early 20s, and this was the perfect way to spend the day together. Kayaking around Tossa de Mar was unreal…the views from the water were absolutely stunning. We got to paddle into caves and little inlets that boats can’t reach, which made it extra special. Snorkeling and cliff jumping (if you’re brave enough!) were such a blast. We even saw an octopus! The paella lunch was delicious, and we had lots of time to walk up to the castle and explore the charming village. Tons of shops too, from local vendors to big names like Hugo Boss and Lacoste. We had such a great day as a family and created some wonderful memories. Thank you Matias!
T P — Google review
This is the type of travel memory OUR family treasures! Activity! Amazing experience! Super fun guide (Thank you Matias!!) Something we couldn’t have experienced simply by renting kayaks and exploring (without local knowledge) on our own. And Matias knows that you want pictures to memorialize your adventure, so he does his best to photograph everyone so you don’t have to! We were staying in Tossa de Mar so it was a quick 15 minute walk to get to the meetup point. It’s the perfect level of effort! Not boring like when you get on a trail ride and the horse just rambles along and you don’t have to do any work. But also not scary where you feel like your life is in danger! 😂 I would recommend it for 12 and up, although there was a 10 year old in our group (in a kayak with dad) and they managed it okay. It would just be rough if there was a massive group of parent/10-year-old pairings versus just one in the group. It’s nice for some of the tour participants to know how to paddle! 😂 Like other excursions we have been on in Spain, they don’t warn you to bring extra snack or extra water. But do it! :) If I had brought an energy bar and extra water, the trip would have been perfect! But it was pretty close to perfect even with that oops! If your family likes activity, do this tour!!!

I really wanted to give a positive review but unfortunately this will be negative. Service: I came on a peak day and time. I felt that there were few employees for the number of tables. We sat on a table outside and waited more than 30 minutes for the menu and even then we had to get up and go get it. We waited another 15 minutes until decided to sit inside. And after that we were attended to within 5 minutes. Food: The croquette was VERY GOOD. But I ordered dish 14 and the shrimp came dirty with a fish head and a shell. The dish was full of oil and the eggs came raw too, which made me sad because it looked good.

Food is neither tasty nor cheap, very small portions as well. Waiting times are extra long, and besides that we did not get all the food at once but „pieces“ one after another(even though everything was ordered at the same time). We couldnt eat all the food as we imagined but separated and cold. Very high language barrier when ordering.

Can’t even rate the food because we never got it. I guess if you go, just get tapas because the entrees will never come out. That’s enough to tell you the type of service

Quite difficult access but not impossible and 100% worth the views!!! Try to park car at safe place as close as possible and head down the road and right after you cross the barrier than turn right on like a field road that's heading to a forest and down hill and eventually it's gonna get very steep, slidy. What it would be like to leave the car at 200 meters turns into leaving the car at more than 2km, a complicated slope to go down and even worse to go up. If you go with family, children or babies, as in our case, it becomes a journey, you really don't mind. I recommend it. I don't know how they did it but the neighborhood next door closed access, but the most incredible thing is that they allow it, this is what seems crazy and a total shame to me.

The apartment was pretty decent and clean and the staff at the hotel was nice and happy to help with any problems. The only complaints I have is that the pillows were absolutely terrible and the tv only had Spanish channels without subtitles, to the dissapoinment of my brother. Tossa de Mar is absolutely gorgeous with beautiful beaches, old buildings and a lot of small shops.

(Translated by Google) Apartments with a very good location and comfortable. When we arrived it took us 1 hour to check in since they sent us to 3 different places to pick up the keys. Once we arrived at the apartment, the directions they left for you at the apartment were not correct (they didn't know what directions there were either), at the time After leaving the apartment we receive an email after 2 hours stating that they have bitten us and we have not responded, we explain that we have followed the apartment's instructions and they tell us that they do not know what indications there are, that they have to check them. Regarding attention and service, it leaves much to be desired.

(Translated by Google) The truth is that this hotel is regrettable. The employees are rude and don't care about anything. We called two days before to ask if everything was adapted because we were with a wheelchair and they told us that everything was adapted and that there would be no problem. When we arrived at 3:00 p.m. there was a line of people to enter the Hotel. 1 hour later a girl appears to wait in two queues since they didn't care about the queue there was because they had to go to their break. Shortly after we check in they tell us that we had not said anything that we were with a wheelchair, the call we made to reserve a parking space for the wheelchair did count. The wheelchair person in the car in the sun and the person in charge who was the most impolite, snorting and saying that it was our problem because we hadn't said anything. It was in the call log and that's why he had to apologize, even though we didn't care and we had to wait 30 minutes for him to call his boss for a solution. We recommended it to some friends but in the face of the disastrous attention of the staff and the fact that they wanted to stop being liars, we told them that it was worthless and that they should cancel it. There were people without air, without light, the truth is that it was a disgraceful hotel. There were people with oxygen and since there was no light they didn't care. Be very careful, the truth is that they paint it very nice and there is nothing and the staff much to be desired.

Kitchen without a washing machine, lids for pans, cloths, bowls, mixer, not even a measly cutting board. The vitro is tiny, don't expect to cook much there. The area is a party area and at night you can bring some earplugs since the windows are made of cigarette paper. As other users have already described, these apartments have become outdated: they smell bad only when you enter (apartment 211); the outdated bathroom and the old, scratched furniture; no soundproofing and having a bar in front of it the noise is unbearable, not being able to sleep until 5:00 in the morning; You can hear the people on the street as if they were in the apartment and also a lot of noise at night from neighbors on the upper floor. Price/quality does not correspond. The experience has been disastrous not to be repeated. (Original) Acabamos de estar en los apartamentos Mar de Tossa del carrer Nou (21 y 22 de junio de 2024). We went snorkeling with our young children. Neil and Dave kept us very safe, being very patient with the children, and super helpful when my daughter got scared in the water. Moreover, Neil was honest enough to tell us that the Banana was not safe due to the strong winds, and gave us our money back. I would definitely trust them and come back to enjoy a safe and fun experience

Went on a snorkelling trip with my son. Very friendly man made the booking easy and was later our driver. We were welcomed into the boat from the beach by a lovely young lady who described what to expect in a humorous way. We visited a snake cave then a snorkelling area. We were provided with snorkels and life jackets if needed. Cost 20€ per person and lasted one and a half hours. Great people, great relaxed trip!

Torre de ses Hores is one of three towers lining the perimeter of the medieval fortress walls in Tossa de Mar. The tower and the walls that are the only ones of its kind still intact date back to the end of the XIV century. A wonderful place! 🔥We really liked it. Not many people, at least on Monday ;) mostly tourists) to swim with a mask - to see the rocks, the underwater world, fish - wonderful! 🐟. Sometimes garbage washed up on the shore, but not much at all. 🫣The most important thing is the mood to come to the beach! ☺️ Parking for cars is 15€, moto is 5€ . There are two bars nearby. Wonderful place 🔥
