Nature & Parks
Accessible via a cable car, this mountain offers hiking, biking & seasonal cross-country ski trails.
Slide 1 of 8
Another high Mountain View of lakes region of Bariloche. It’s accessible by cable car in a residential area of town. The view of the lakes and the Patagonian Alps is certainly magnificent. It is less busy than Cerro Campanario, just a couple of kilometers away.
Beautiful views across the lago as you walk up to the summit. Only negative is the extortionate‘access charge’ to the cerro complex which is a fixed rate per person regardless. You can’t avoid it if you want to take the cable car back down.
For those trying to drive to Cerro Otto, the road is currently closed at the Piedras Blancas, and you will be denied access. There are some nice views near the parking lot, so still a worthwhile experience.
Worth a gondola ride, nice view over Bariloche and the lake
Beautiful place and walk with friends. Not too challenging and depending how close you can get to it in a vehicle you can do this as a day trek in just a few hours. The views are stunning and it’s one of the best examples of Lenga trees. It’s frustrating that part of the trek goes through “private land” of the Aralauquen estate - how on earth was part of a national park (and a large part at that) sold privately to become a playground for Bariloche’s rich and famous. Disgraceful really and surely there must have been some brown envelopes passed to ensure that this happened. In any case it’s a beautiful landscape and the views over Lago Gutierrez are sublime. Hopefully the whole trek returns to public hands soon.
Great, good price convenient transportation from Bariloche downtown, the restaurant really good and a lot of stuff to do in the top, recommend it
Fantastic mountaintop outdoorsman's dream. This venue has everything to keep a lover of the outdoors busy for many days and repeated trips to take advantage of all of the offerings. Accessible by car on a challenging gravel road to the top of the mountain. Hiking available. Parking is at a premium however! Many trails of various challenge levels. Highly recommended. Fantastic scenery.
The View is Incredible. And you can eat on top with a 360* view because the tower spin around. Really great experience. Food is good. Server kinda slow the place get really busy.

Can’t beat the views at this place. Top of the mountain is gorgeous!!!! Reminds me of Lake Tahoe or Alaska. The mountain definitely gets crowded and the lines can get long. The snow at the top is much better than the snow at the bottom. There is a free parking lot with a bus shuttle. You can also pay to park in the front which is 3,500 pesos. The village is cool to walk around and grab food. Recommend going to the restaurant at the top. It’s usually a wait to get a table but great views up there with good food.
This is a great location for varied and interesting skiing for those coming from the Northern Hemisphere, but a few words of caution: The good bits - Stunning setting with view of the high Andes and the local lakes; it is breathtaking - A lot of wide, interesting skiing - A number of fast lifts - New snow cannons ensured a way home by skis - Lots of potential for off-piste - Some really nice restaurants in resort - People are friendly and seem very genuine - We mad friends with the local dogs who roam around the resort and the mountain. The not-so-good bits: - We had mixed weather (which is not the ski lift company's fault) and still enjoyed ourselves though; in Patagonia, as the locals say, the weather changes very quickly. - Some new lifts are slow, making queues for the fast ones - Snow making needs extending (only one home run was open whilst we were here) - The road to resort (which we had to walk on with ski boots) is not a pleasant experience and feels unsafe: the mud and rock 'pavement' is often parked on by cars, so you have to dice with death and avoid the coaches whizzing by as you tread on the asphalt
Amazing skiing, well groomed runs, lifts that work great. Get there early if you do not want to wait to go up the Amanay lift, because after the pedestrians arrive the line and wait gets crazy long. Download the Catedral App for live updates on runs and lifts that are open/closed and the estimated wait times. SPECTACULAR views from the top
Catedral is the biggest ski resort in Argentina by all standards: skiable area, infrastructure and runs. It gets packed and wind conditions tends to close a few of the lifts. Still, it’s a great place for skiers of all levels, having the biggest beginners area in the country as well. And more recently they have invested in a few snow cannons on that area that allow all-season snow to practice. Runs are good, long enough even though the off piste terrain is not that challenging or allowing.
Cerro Catedral is working full time already! Magic Carpet zone working 100% (Culipatín ya'll). Lifts still not working though (planned to start by mid June). Ski slopes for beginners that are currently open: Princesa and Evento. Bear in mind no fresh snow since the early snowstorm May 9th. Still early season! On the bright side: everything is free for all. No restrooms though. If you happen to need one, I'm gonna save you the pain and tell you to go straight to the McDonald's and buy yourself a cup coffee to get the privilege of a using a restroom 😉
Amazing place but like all ski station, elevated prices.
The snow can be soft and the might need more high speed lifts up top, but overall excellent facilities for someone who needs a skiing fix in August. I skied mid week and lift lines were not bad. I did here someone complain about the beginning lessons, but there are other options for that at the mountain.
Experienced the lowest part of mountain and in high season. Prices are quite high, concerning everything there. You have several options for equipment rental. There is a bus line (55) up there and down. Although, to go down you will face crowded buses and huge queues. The sporting space for begginers is quite good but very very crowded around 1-3pm.

Civic center

Landmark town hall & main square of Bariloche, featuring Alpine-inspired architecture & a museum.
Slide 1 of 8
The civic center is full of culture and beauty. There are countless things to do. You can always find things to do to keep you entertained and food of all varieties. The Argentinians are respectful, helpful, and friendly.
Centro Civico was built by architect Ernesto de Estrada.  Basically, like the main square, every town has one.  The place where large cultural and social events are often held.  Its architecture has European and North American influences, reflecting the surrounding mountains and woods. Walk around and take in the charming stone walls, wooden doors and Lake Nahuel Huapi in the background.  Museo de la Patagonia is located here and this is worth a visit.  I enjoyed walking around the square taking in the atmosphere and scenery.
Pet and family oriented. Clean and well maintained grass.
The heart of Bariloche, the civic center is a public plaza. Constructed in 1940, the cobbled plaza is bounded by stone and log buildings housing the Municipality of Bariloche (the one with the clock tower), the city library, a museum and the city post office. At the center of the plaza is the equestrian statue of General Julio Argentino Roca, military leader and statesman. He served 2 terms as President of Argentina, for a total of 12 years, apparently the longest serving president. The plaza appears to be a center of community and civic activities throughout the year.
Cool civic center with lots to see. Lots of people offering exchange, but you get a fine rate at Western Union.
Fun evening. We stumbled on a great evening in the square. Games, DJ and lots of people. So nice to enjoy the sun.
Amazing downtown, great views , people playing music, dancing, shopping, and people from everywhere. Cool 😎 town to explore
A good place to spend an hour. You can just sit there and enjoy the river and the mountains sites

Great place to visit. There are many hikes available inside the park.
I went here In August during there winter, and it was great, there was some snow in back in the town. But not much, here there was tons to play with. Also, the glacier was pretty, the lake was frozen and you can see the you are in the middle of the andes, and you can feel you are in a glacier. It was quite cold though at around -6:)
Amazing experience. Specially on a sunny day.
Located inside two national parks, Nahuel Huapi in Argentina *and* Vicente Pérez Rosales in Chile, Tronador hosts a total of eight glaciers.
Cerro Tronador (3,470 metres) is on the border between Chile and Argentina to the west of Bariloche.
I really didn’t expected to see a bear in this place!!!!!!!!!!

A great place to visit, a short ride by catamaran from Bariloche. Cost bar by company by expect to pay around $25.
Approachable by Catamaran. Island with lovely views of the lake, nice beach, well managed woodlands, more interesting if guide present.
Gorgeous Forest ! Very interesting trees and plants (Sequoia, Pine, Bamboo...)
A paradisiac place...! A must see..!! You can take a guided tour from Puerto Pañuelo in Bariloche or from Villa la Angostura.. A well kept place, so beautiful and great. A day is not enough to enjoy it..! The island has some easy hiking trails, so you can stroll in the tall pine forest (Isla Victoria has varied foliage, including the arctic beech), get to the sandy shores (you can find some solitary beaches on which to sit and contemplate the lake), or, weather permitting, enjoy the clear waters of Nahuel Huapi lake (en mapuche Nahuel Huapi means island of tiger or jaguar).
Beautiful island! Definitely worth spending 2 hours walking the trails.
awesome trip.worth every penny
(Translated by Google) Beautiful walk, totally worth it... honestly I wish the walks lasted longer, since they only give you an hour or at least on the excursion I took, even so it is enjoyable, the walk is a hike in the forest, of very low difficulty, and it is also perfectly signposted, beautiful walk (Original) Hermoso paseo, vale totalmente la pena … honestamente me gustaría que los paseos durasen más tiempo, ya que solo te dan una hora o almenos en la excursión que yo tomé, aun así se disfruta, el paseo es una caminata en el bosque, de muy baja dificultad, y también está perfectamente señalizado , hermoso paseo

Cathedral

Cathedral with a park-like lakefront setting featuring stained glass depictions of Biblical stories.
Slide 1 of 8
Absolutely stunning church. The stained glass alone is worth the visit
I liked the architecture of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Nahuel Huapi. Inside, the portals seem to be made of reinforced concrete, although from the outside, the building appears to be made of stone. It was designed by architect Alejandro Bustillo and inaugurated in 1946. The stained glass windows have a style reminiscent of those created by the stone masons of the ancient Templars in the 11th century.
Beautiful historic place. The arquitecture is amazing, the vitrauxs are incredible and the surroundings are breathtaking. Pity we couldn't buy anything at the little shop they have there as they only take cash.
Bariloche’s cathedral is an interesting modern structure built during WWII. Yet it is a classic gothic architecture. The high vaulted ceilings in both the nave and aisles, plus the stained glass windows high up the walls are all very gothic. Indeed, everything about the structural design is a throwback to the Middle Ages. Strangely beautiful indeed 😎😎😎. The interior is quite modern, the idols and images including a painting are unmistakably 20th century designs.
Incredible place to visit. Stunning architecture, including the beautiful glass paintings. A very calming vibe inside.
Rating it a 5 star because of it close location to the beautiful lake and its amazing mountains. The view is exceptional. Also, it has a large front and back yard to relax on a afternoon Finally, it is in the main center of the town. Entrance is free.
According to Google the church was open. I walked around it and tried all the doors but they were locked. I was however, able to take in the neo-gothic characteristics, with clear European architectural influence. Stunning. The Cathedral of San Carlos de Bariloche, “Our Lady of Nahuel Huapi,” is the main Catholic church in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina.
A beautiful large Cathedral in Bariloche that sits right off the water. We were able to explore the inside of the cathedral and just admired all of the stained glass windows, the main altar and side chapels. Worth a trip inside if traveling in Bariloche.

Pristine National Park in Argentina with the blue waters of the lake set against the snow capped mountains when we visited in October. Many view points along the road as you hug the lake with one or two large viewing platforms providing beautiful 180 degree views of the area. Simply breathtaking.
Panoramic Point in Bariloche, the place with major amount of photos made in Patagonia
It’s the natural beauty that is outstanding, not the never ending traffic on the main roads or the noise caused by them. Get away from all that and it is wonderful.
Each season has its own wonder. flowers and birds in spring, silent falling snow in winter with hares and foxes running when you least expect. and I can go on with the hot summer with small waterfalls, never ending nights watching the stars. and at last the autumn with reds covering the forest. its a marvellous place... always, even when the wind blows and the rain falls, and you can do nothing but watch...
Absolutely amazing and gorgeous. We did the trip from Bariloche to San Martin de Los Andes along the 7 lakes route during August (winter time) and enjoyed snowing and amazing sites. Be sure to stop at each lake.
A true adventure to see Cerro Tornador the thunder mountain and glacier. On the road you meet gorgeous lupiin flower fields like being in Alps, a ilsand Corason the Heart shape island and always river is by your side until you reach this and there is an eagle flying. Waterfalls with crystal clear water:) i use this water to my paintings:)
an amazing park, definitely worth visiting. Entrance for foreigners and non-resident Argentines is only $6.50.
We took the ferry and we hiked the boardwalk to the falls (four stations) and the lake at the top of the waterfalls. Beautiful!

Good fun all day... once you managed to buy the entrance tickets and get all the necessary gear, all these might over an hour in line waiting. Safety measures are well run. The day we spent there it snowed, therefore, had more fun on every activity.
It's a lot of fun and the Bondiola sandwich was the best. The sledding is fun. However, it is very expensive and the lines are nuts. For a 3 minute ride, you wait about 45-60 minutes.
Wonderful place! You don't need to do anything really, in order to enjoy this place. View is amazing, activities or just playing in the snow. Highly recommend.
Its a great place, perfect for the most adventurous and for kids. Good fun and absolutely stunning.. But prices in the restaurants should be a bit lower
The place is great to enjoy with kids. However if you go during high season get ready to wait up to 40 minutes to access each attraction
Great winter park, especially for kids, offering lower prices than the prices of the Cerro Catedral ski center and having lots of fun riding the speedy "trineos" and ziplines. If it snows there days before your visit, you will enjoy all the tracks with a lot of ice. The only regrets are the expensive prices of food and beverages at the restaurant.
Such a fun, easy, beautiful walk with perfect views of the city
Great fun multiple tracks for sledging. 20,000 pesos for entrance and six lifts up including the small sledges(trineos). Helmets goggles and boots extra if needed. Long queues to get in but mainly caused by people asking lots of questions. Don’t know why as the board beside the entrance tells you all the ticket prices. It was just over £20 each all included. We drove up. The road is a steep dirt track. Plenty of parking at the top but a bit muddy.

Quirky, verdant park featuring a variety of life-sized dinosaur replicas & an education center.
Slide 1 of 8
See 30 different species of dinos as statues (and a couple that are animatronic!) in a one-hour tour. That sounds real fast BUT the guides are engaging and make the pace seem appropriate. And you get to take as many pics as you want along the way
We visited this place on a cold October day as we were needing to get out and enjoy the sites. There were no English speakers that day for the tour, but that didn't stop us from getting our own tour guide and having a blast. We learned what the dinosaur names were in Spanish compared to English. It was pretty fun.
Its a short visit, but the park is in good condition, the dino statues are really nice, service and Guide amazing with kids.
Wonderful experience for my son.
A great place to visit in family. Easy to arrive over Bustillo Avenue (will need a car because it’s a 20 minute drive from down town) It is a 1hour tour, walking into some kind of natural forest, where the guides will explain to the family about dinos ( all except 2 are in 1:1 scale !) The guides are very friendly and they do their work with love and patience for the kids. At the end you can buy some funny pics for about 1500AR. Prices are reasonable. Don’t loose the opportunity to visit this place and learn about Dino’s
Didn’t go in, thought the price was around $3.000 each. At the moment it is $14.000, might be nice. 40 minutes tour
The guide made the whole experience, he was amazing
The parc is not bad, dinosaurs are beautiful and looks real. First bad point : the park is very small, maybe 20-25 dinosaurs. It takes 15 minutes to walk around the park. Second bad point : the first point would be not so bad if the price wouldn’t so high ! We paid 36 000$ ARS for 2 adults and 1 child 5yo. (25/10/2024) Also, the price are not on the website, and they are not displayed at the entrance… so maybe it depends of the head of the customer….

Parroquia San Eduardo is a charming little church nestled in the woods of Bariloche. The architecture blends beautifully with the natural surroundings, offering a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. It’s a quick stop, but the view from the church is absolutely worth it. A hidden gem in Bariloche!
A nice little chapel made out of wood. It was build in 1938 and was since maintained in its old Gothic style. A great place to share a Mate with your friends and enjoy the panorama.
A small chapel built in 1938 by architect Alejandro Bustillo. Very cute. Apparently renowned for its picturesque setting amidst the stunning landscapes of the Nahuel Huapi National Park. However, we were there on a misty day, so we could not see anything. We arrived too early so we could only take in the outside architecture. Suggest visiting after 11:00 when they are open.
A small church built on a mountain surrounded by beautiful nature. And, that it basically. It was closed at the time of our visit.
Very pretty and different swiss architecture with local materials

Slide 1 of 8
The overall experience was nice and the guide was very attentive, although the groups get a bit too big. You get the the money you spend for the ticket as credit for the store downstairs
Inexpensive so maybe 4 stars. It's about a 20 minute tour and the groups are large. Info and displays are cool. But overall it could be better.
The tour was more regarding the history of chocolate then the making of the famous Havanna goodies. We were able to see a little of the factory but is was very limited and the processes weren’t really explained. The history of chocolate was interesting and the free sample of hot chocolate was delightful.
The museum is small, but the hot chocolate is great. You get one as part of the tour. If it's a rainy day outside or you're "taking a day off" and resting for a day, this is a good attraction. Cheap, with a hot drink and some cultural experience. You also get a voucher worth 100% the entrance fee to spend at the shop on your way out. I'd totally go back just for the hot chocolate
Could it be better. They introduce very big groups, no room to move around or to watch the exposition. They do not give enough information, there are so many things to explain about chocolate! Short visit expensive price. Not worth it.
Interesting but not worth your time. There is a very small museum about chocolate which you cannot visit alone, you should wait for the guided tour start to enter. You can wait up to half an hour for a short 30 minutes tour about basic chocolate history. At the end there is a typical Havanna store which as any other store sells awesome products!
An interesting place to visit. Shame there was very little in English as our Spanish is poor. The chocolate sculptures were good. The history of chocolate interesting. Staff were very good. Entrance fee of 90 pesos per person gave you 45 peso per person discount at the shop. Free sample of drinking chocolate on the tour.
Small, but very detailed store (who knew they supplied the cocoa for Cadburys first chocolate selection back in the UK).

Very easy going walk in a stunning forest with beautiful views of the lakes and some amazing looking trees
Easy and beautiful walk through the forest. There is a small area of Arrayanes at the base of the valley well worth visiting if you can’t get to the National Park near Villa La Angostura. There is lake access with long walks on the shore and stunning views.
Beautiful short circuit right in Villa Llao Llao center, a short drive away from bariloche out to the west, and there is a stunning, tranquil Arrayanes forest inside a great nature reserve called Llao Llao park.
Good place to stop. Easy access to hiking trails, picnic tables and public toilets.
A truly beautiful and awe inspiring little hike with fantastic views. The star of this half of the track is the stopping point at the Arrayanes Path bit. A short, but gorgeous loop around a set of Arrayanes trees in all their beauty. There's a wooden walkway guiding that loop for a reason, to preserve the trees' wellbeing. Don't get off to get pictures and trample their roots! All in all, beautiful experience, and this track connects to several others that can help you get a wonderful sense of this gorgeous Natural Park. I highly recommend continuing after the Arrayanes Path into Moreno Lake (Lago Moreno), then after you exit, take a short right walking alongside the roadway to enter the Roman Bridge (Puente Romano) track to your left all the way down Hidden Lake (Lago Escondido) and Logs' Bay (Bahía de Troncos)! Then you can either retrace your steps, or continue north once you're back at the Roman Bridge to go to Villa Tacul and the trek up Llao Llao Hill (Cerro Llao Llao) that ends up near where the first Arrayanes track started.
I enjoyed it. It is a huge long trail that connects all the way to Mirador lago moreno (the exit is where it says "information turística". From there you can go right or left on the main road cto chico to puerto Lopez or villa tacul. I recommend to right because the bus terminal is at villa llao llao. It is bus 20 and it stops 10min walk from this park. However, if you take right and visit the other attractions (which are connected by other trails cto chico) then head back left and go to Puerto Lopez (10h20pm is last bus). 12am is last for bus 20. Cost per ride 100 pesos. You can rent a bike (approx 4k), rent a car or take bus (but it does half the loop of cto chico). No bus between terminal bus 20 and puerto Lopez (bus 10 goes the other way around). I spent 1 day using bus 10 and the other bus 20). It is really beautiful trails.
Easy trail, not too or much of a climb/descent. The arrayanes grove is small but nice. The rest of the forest and trees are great and the beach at the end is pleasant.
it is a 45 minutes walk both ways and it was very easy and relaxing. At the end you find a beautiful beach with a nice view, perfect for some pics 😁 it is really enjoyable actually if you are up for short “senderos”

Most people drive to the trailhead bu it is a pleasant 2.1k walk from the #50 bus stop along a dusty but shaded road then a short hike to the falls.
Easy walk to very nice waterfall. It wasn’t overly crowded. The trail was easy and mostly flat.
Easy short walk to a nice waterfall. Totally worth the time. You can add a steep ~40-60 minutes hike to the lago Gutierrez mirador with gorgeous views.
Nice easy walk by the lake and in the wood, and a lovely, not amazing, cascade. If you have 3-4 hours (including the time to get there) and want to spend them pleasantly - it might be a good idea. Get there by bus (forgot the number... Fifty something...)
“Idioma español más abajo” The Cascada de los Duendes is an easily accessible walk that can be enjoyed as a family, at any time of the year and is of very low difficulty. Where is the Los Duendes Waterfall located? To get from the city center, you have to take the number 50 bus that ends your tour in Villa Los Coihues, which is approximately 14 km from the city of Bariloche. You have to get off at Lake Gutierrez just after the bridge at the access to the Villa los Coihues neighborhood, from here you have to continue 1 km of walking along the street that borders the lake between forests and private homes and lodges. At the end of this road is the park guard house, and 100 meters later the path begins. You can also access this point by car or with bicycles and leave them parked there (we recommend not leaving valuable items in cars). The path through the forest has a total length of 400 meters with a minimum difficulty, in which one can observe centenary coihues, native flora of the place, the murmur of the stream, and if we stop, the sound of the birds that sing In the treetops In a moment the path is divided in two, the one that goes to the waterfall and the path that takes you to the viewpoint of the Gutierrez Lake at 1 km (it is also super recommended although with a greater demand since it has 100 meters of unevenness), to Muñoz Beach 7,5 km away and to the top of the Frey Refuge 10 km away, which are other highly recommended walks that require all day. This walk is ideal to do as a family, and enjoy the natural environment just minutes from Bariloche.
Good turistic place. If you don't like being around many (many) tourists I wouldn't recommend it. You definitely have tons of more solitary places to go to. But you definitely should go to the mirador if you're near by the Cascada de los Duendes!!
I went there in the winter, it was cold and there was snow on the trail. The waterfall was full of water. Pretty nice!
It's really easy to get there and is a beautiful spot in which to relax.

Free water at the top. Last mile is approx 1000 feet gain. No toilet paper at top. Shaded in the middle section. Nice cool and refreshing dip at the top.
I hike a lot and I love nature exploration. This hike was one of my best solo hiking experiences. I started real late so almost my entire way back down I hiked in the dark with no flashlight or headlamps and no backpack… I know sounds stupid, especially for a tourist who who has never been here before. Anyhow reaching the top and having a fresh pizza cooked in the oven before my eyes and having a fresh hot coffee was so rewarding. I loved it. In the bottom where I started it was hot and I was sweating 2/3 up it started snowing, at the peak where the shelter and the cafe were, it was freezing cold. Having my pizza while looking out the window to that frozen lake and beautiful spiky mountains was just indescribably amazing, which I will never forget!
Lovely warm refuge with comfy beds and home cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner 😊 A three course dinner was around $25,000 peso per person and breakfast $13,000 - cash only.
The Refugio was located by the lake. We did not stay over night but also the hike up there was not too hard to do a day trip, except you want to do some climbing which would require an overnight. Refugio offers some basic food and full of drinks. Good place for refreshment and shelter yourself from the wind while you up there. Toilets are basic but also clean. Overall I believe it is a place worth visit in Bariloche.
Great hike from Cerro Catedral parking lot. The route is easy although requires a final push in the last 2km. That's where it becomes really steep. Until this final push you will be able to enjoy a beautiful forest with beautiful flowers and trees. Be sure to enjoy it.
Coming from Villa Catedral it is one of the most amazing hikes that I've done. The refugio itself it's very cozy, sells drinks (recommend the hot chocolate) and from 1pm sells food like pizza. Very unique athmosphere, I recommend to get here early because around the 1pm it started to get more crowdy. Maybe aim to arrive before 1pm just in time to order some hot food. I had a look at the dorm and wouldn't mind spending a night there, must be pretty cool.
Lovely spot and great people. Camping is free if you have your own tent. They even rented me a sleeping bag!
I came in the autumn and it was really nice. The path was completely covered with snow which made the trip quite challenging but much more fun and advantageous. Be ready for any weather, it looks different once you get higher in altitude. The food provided is ok, nothing special but given the location it absolutely suffices. Hot tea, coffee cakes, wine and beer are possible to purchase.
