Wat Mahathat Worawihan, also known as Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat or Wat Na Phra That, stands as a testament to the rich history and cultural significance of Ratchaburi, Thailand. Situated on Khao Ngu Road in the Na Mueang Subdistrict of Ratchaburi city, this ancient temple holds a prominent place on the west side of the Mae Klong River. Believed to have been originally constructed during the Dvaravati period, around the 15th and 16th centuries, it flourished during the reign of King Jayavarman VII of Khmer. Evidence of Khmer artistry can be seen in the castle built during this period, which served as the city’s center according to Khmer beliefs. However, subsequent collapses led to the construction of a new prang in the early Ayutthaya period, around the 20th and 21st Buddhist centuries. Today, Wat Mahathat Worawihan boasts a royal hall housing the Phra Mongkol Buri, a stucco Buddha image dating back to the early Ayutthaya period. The image, with its distinctive Sukhothai face and short legs, is revered for its artistic significance. Another notable feature is a Buddha image facing west, symbolizing protection against future disasters, in accordance with Ayutthaya beliefs. The temple’s main prang, made of laterite and standing 12 wa high, is adorned with murals depicting religious and historical scenes. Additionally, Wat Mahathat Worawihan serves as a repository for relics of the Buddha, housed within structures such as the Viharn Rai, vow water stand, glass wall, and mandapa. With its rich history, architectural marvels, and spiritual significance, Wat Mahathat Worawihan remains a cherished destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a glimpse into Thailand’s cultural heritage and religious traditions.
Wat Mahathat Worawihan in Ratchaburi is a revered temple with a rich history, featuring an iconic Khmer-style prang and intricate Buddhist art. The temple serves as an important spiritual and cultural center, attracting visitors with its serene atmosphere and well-preserved architecture. A visit here offers a glimpse into Thailand’s past, blending religious devotion with historical significance.
A nice example of traditional architecture, the place reflects the Ayutthaya periods, the restaured temple and the main wall is curious. Free entry and bathroom available, respect the silence in the Holi place thanks.
Such a wonderful place.. the weather was great and it was not too busy. The buildings look spectacular…. This place is slightly different than the ones in Ayuthhaya. It’s still an up and running temple and many Thais are here to do their Buddhism rituals and traditions. Must visit it you come to Ratchaburi. It’s right in the middle of City Center and very near Big C mall where you can grab a van to Bangkok easily
Truly amazing ancient temple dating back to the Dvaravati period, some 1100 years ago. The current Phrangs were built on over the original temple and are of clearly Khmer architecture.
This place could be dated back since Khmer Empire. The front gate in stone is a replica of the ancient Khmer work. There are plenty of the things to visit here. From different generation Khmer - Dvaravati - Sukhothai and Ayuthaya in one place. It is a bit messy but still a nice place to discover.
So beautiful and quite different from Thai other temples. It’s really peaceful place suitable for who wants to do merit.
Beautifully ancient temple with quiet and peaceful. Must visit spot to make a bless when being in Ratchaburi. Lot of parking space

No entrance fee, directly accessible from the car park. Stunning 360 view of the Ratchaburi city and nearby hills. Definitely worth making a stop.
We visited Ratchaburi today 30 October 2025. The weather is cool with some occasional light rain. Many dogs here (take note). Looks a bit old and secluded but when you enter the temple hall, it is beautiful and clean. It was peaceful and cool. Thank you 🙏🏼
Pretty temple on the top of a mountain. The views are beautiful! Quiet with nice cool breeze.
Don't forget to check in at the other side of the temple..magnificent view from the hill ♥️
Beautiful view, more worthy than wat complex that is nearby. You can go Up there by motorbike or by foot. We didnt met almost noone here, only some monks. If you come to ratchaburi, this is one of the best places where to go
Nice view. There's the great buddha on the top of hill.
Lovely view from this mountain top shrine
So many crazy dogs

Beautiful spot to enjoy nature. Used to be a place they collected cement, that’s what i was told. By the entrance there are toilets and cafe, can buy smoothies, coffee, ice cream. Sitting area with many tables chairs and fans. Free entrance.
I only wanted to have a quick look at the park since I was driving by. At first glance, it looked amazingly beautiful and interesting. Car park is a large paved and lined space, enough for large number of cars and buses. The park is a step lower than the park entrance gates. Noticed the park is also accessible by vehicles, but the gates were shut. Entrance is free and the place was very busy with tourists, both locals and few foreigners. Amazing scenery and a great place for family fun. Coffee shop and other stalls offer you with refreshments and souvenirs. Lovely place for photo shoot, relaxing, exercising, or just to enjoy the scenery.
Stunning spot to go that is near ti Bangkok. Good for family and friends winding. Free entrance. You can go sight-seeing around the rocky mountain for 60-baht fare tourist vehicle. Car Parking is not a problem, it's wide
It's a neat little park in Ratchaburi, I found it very relaxing and a nice change to the city sites you are seeing here a lot. It is a lake with some hills around it, some apes are around and also some birds. You can get food and drinks nearby and make some pretty pictures here. When I was here the place was not crowded, but there were some families visiting. The park is for free.
An interesting place, relatively close to Bangkok. Mountains, a lake, monkeys—what else do you need for happiness? Arrived here at 7 a.m., it was deserted. But you can already buy a portion of monkey food for 20 baht (corn).
Beautiful park. You can rent a boat for 60 THB. Don’t forget to visit the caves, which feature a 6th-century Buddha.
The place is so peaceful. Full with local. Evening walk is so nice. Full of insta inspo place as well. Nature loving people must try to go to there!!
A really wonderful park free entry, 7Km away from the city, you will be in a paradise corner plenty of monkeys and small green lakes between a rocky hill's.

This is an amazing place. I never saw so much pottery in one place. The beauty of it is also astonishing. Love it.
An exotic collection of ceramics artfully arranged in a garden around the original family home, now a coffee and drinks shop. The passion fruit soda was delightful as well as a new menu offering of a hot, crispy bun stuffed with delicious Thai style chicken topped with lots of cheese. Excellent food and absolutely unique experience. Don’t miss it!
Ratchaburi is known for their ceramics. This factory started at 1933... They created a beautiful garden from their products.. We enjoyed to strolled around and took photos.. Their coffee shop is a nice place to cool down from the heat.
Amazing place! The creative artwork is a sight to see. Ceramics of all shapes and sizes populate the site, providing for a unique visit and visual experience. A must come to place if you love art.
What a strange place. Our family member took us here and said it would be different and fun. She was right about different! So much pottery here, it sprawled out in every direction into the trees. Everywhere you looked was filled with pottery. It makes for song fun photoshoots if you're into that. Entry is free. There's also a small coffee shop and gift shop. If you have kids they hold many workshops but I would call ahead of time
I went there on Monday morning. The place wasn't that ready for tourists. The coffee shop wasn't ready yet as the barista had to work on the factory's ledger. One good thing is that you can walk around the place without being stopped by anyone. The staff seem to be familiar with the tourists. The factory posts detours around the place to guide your tour route. The ceramics are really amazing. If you have a pick up truck you will want to carry some of them home :) The scene is wonderful for photo shooting.
Interesting place to visit if you are interested in ceramic pottery they gave literally hundreds of different pots and animals. Their signature is the dog with holes in which looks a bit like a spotted dog. They have a small cafe on site with coffee and flower tea available. Unfortunately nothing available to eat, no cake. The owner has a collection of motorcycles, including a Triumph Rocket 3 and an old customised Harley which looks like about 1940s vintage.
Good ceramic products both traditional and contemporary designs. Lots of very large sized ceramic products from bath tubs to basins.

👏❤️👍😍🇹🇭
Well maintained and very structured on the content from the start until the end. You can find useful and relevant context to learn about the province. Recommended to visit.
An excellent introduction to the city and province with exhibits on geology, prehistory, development, and culture. Exhibits are well captioned in English as well as Thai. The attractive 1922 former city hall wraps around a courtyard. You can also visit folk exhibits in a shed next door and check out contemporary art on the front lawn. Foreigner admission was 100 baht. The museum is across from the riverfront, a good place for a stroll.
Great historical museum that house the artifacts of the prehistoric age. Came here on New year eve which is free for everyone. For those driving, have to park outside the museum.
The museum is situated in a historic building that is very charming by itself. The exhibition is not big, but covering many interesting topics that you might not know before about Ratchaburi. Come here to learn the history of the province and you will have more background about the history of each places you go next.

Very nice temple. Easy to find. Go to old market or clock tower and at end of road. Very beautiful temple. Met person helping stray dogs, so we helped with donation too.
This is one of the landmarks in Ratchaburi. The royal monastery temple was build in Ayutthaya era. The Image of Buddha, or locals call Khaen Chan father was believed floating on the river from Kanchanaburi. They say the base that made from sandalwood still has faint scent until this day. Good thing about this temple is it's convenient to come and to make a merit as there are the temple staff and a monk to help you from morning to evening. Unlike other temples in this province where everybody's gone and empty in late afternoon.
We visited Ratchaburi today 30 October 2025. The weather is cool with some occasional light rain. A medium sized temple area. Clean and well maintained. The main temple hall was closed so we went to the temple beside it.
Easy to go and near old market beside the river
Oldy temple very nice clam quiet
The temple is in the central region of the city, and it can be accessed easily by local transport. The buddha image is spectacular, from the breast above was created from bronze but the breast below from sandalwood. The main temple is quite new and clean.
Nice Temple on road side on Ratchaburi road to pay respect.

Best Pottery in terms of both design and quality. Reasonable prices. Over 40 years history. Recommended!
Buy glazed Terra cotta pots from this large warehouse. Prices were ressonable. There were thousands of pots to choose from. Customer service was not good. No salesperson in warehouse. Walk into the shop and ask for a staff to come tell you about prices.
High skill clay maker make a cute and elegant earth ware in many forms and color style. Pots in indoor warehouse are not allowed to take photos. But small animals on the ground outside the warehouse are ok to take pictures. They are for sale. Made to order .
Many earthenware in this place. They applied to did the for the garden decor also. You can come to buy and see clay art. Service not very good because they have more customer. They got the Otop outstanding export award on 2006. Open everyday from 8.00 am till 5 pm.
Nice place to visit if wanting some kind of pottery. You are allowed to walk out the back and watch them make at no charge. I didnt ask but believe would be able to get anything custom made here to suit your needs
This is an old style and well known pottery from Ratchaburi province. The dragon big jar is typical big jar in every family to collect water during rainy season. To day, the factory transform themselves and creates many style of pottery. It is very nice to see them painting.
Wonderful place to buy pottery and see how they make

This is probably the best gym in Ratchaburi town, very spacious plenty of equipment for strength training and cardio. A little outside the town at the Ratchaburi FC stadium but plenty of free parking. The fees are reasonable for the area and they offer various classes (mainly in the evenings) The only draw back with gym which prevents me from using it at the moment is the poor opening times, they don’t open until 11am
(Translated by Google) The place is spacious and comfortable, located inside the Mitr Phol Stadium building. You must drive into the back of the stadium. You will find the fitness room. Behind the stadium The interior space is wider than other places. Within Ratchaburi city The equipment is complete, including machines, free weights, dumbbells, switches, etc. The placement of playing equipment There is a good distance. Not too close Makes you not uncomfortable while playing There is one large class room, a fly yoga room and a cycling room. There are also lockers and a sauna for use. Although not as spectacular as in Bangkok But it's considered okay... Weighing scale used by Tanita, can measure in detail and can print results as well.
