A must see to gain a better appreciation of the area. There's so many items packed into a beautifully restored firehouse. The gift shop always has a terrific selection of jewelry, clothing, books & other New Mexico souvenirs. Friendly docents completed a pleasant visit - Olé!
Very cool place to see artifacts and learn about Silver City and its early years. Its free, don't money if you wish.
Great small museum that has interesting photos and items from the history of the area, with lots of interesting info. It's not a huge museum so it's a nice stop while walking around town without tiring you out. There is a scavenger hunt activity for kids. A cute gift shop. Be sure to go to the top floor if you can, the view is great. There's also a nice little area to sit and enjoy the weather, and even more pictures with captions, and a great mural, on the left side of the building. Definitely worth the visit!
Lovely little museum in the historic area of Silver Springs. Lots of information about ecology, history, politics, and everything else having to do with the settlement and history of the town. The people who work there were absolutely lovely. I got a lot of questions answered. The gift shop is also very nice. To the right of the entrance slightly behind the house there’s a lovely little garden where you can sit and enjoy the day.
Dia De Los Muertos festival was amazing ! So many beautiful & wonderful costumes ... It was fantastic ! There was music, food and lots of fun !
Beautiful restored historic home built in 1800s. Interesting displays and cute gift shop. Stairs to 2nd and 3rd stories are steep. Garden is terrific.
The ladies here are sweethearts!! They will chat with you about the town & are happy to make suggestions about where else to visit. The gift shop is well stocked with lots of local treasures. The museum itself is small but still really interesting & the house itself is charming. No bells n whistles just an authentic look into this towns past. Beautiful exterior mosaic mural was still under construction but WOW!! The ladies said the local magnet school kids were helping with it! What a wonderful lil museum ♥️
Absolutely loved this museum! Small but so much rich history within. Children loved the activity that was set up for them and we all learned a lot about Silver City. The staff was friendly and informative. Really enjoyed our time here. No fee to enter but there is a donation box available, please don't forget to donate!

Secure parking in Silver City. Take the trail south and soon you'll be in a nice hike along the creek. You'll experience ruins and remnants of items from days gone by. Various information signs also exist which add to the experience. I was informed that along the Big Ditch trail I would encounter and be approached by homeless people which might be uncomfortable for some. So far this has not happened.
Great area for a stroll and just across the bridge from downtown. Good parking and interpretive signs.
Interesting history and neat area. A lot of trash and tagging by vandals or I'd give it five stars. However, the fact it was an ecological sister turned into green space is fascinating.
Very interesting story behind this big ditch park. We sat and had a picnic lunch on a bench. It’s beautiful when you look beyond the trash.
Very amazing trail and bridges next to a small stream that often bulges into a river during floods. Was once the main street, and today may be revived with rear-facing businesses, especially near the old roller rink soon to be a brewery and tasting room.
Real nice walking next to the river, a lot of trees. Nice little city Silver City . Good for the people living there to have a family day and have a picnic
Awesome to see what happened with the flood and the mosaic that tells the story.
Sadly, I'd recommend staying away from this place as there are several large homeless encampments up and down the trail now. There are far better places to hike on outskirts of town or farther afield. Sad.... it's hitting everywhere.

We're sports parents so travel nm alot. Old servers and bartenders. The staff was on point from night staff to morning. Breakfast was KILLER as far as hotel breakfast. Staff was just plain friendly and room attendants were smiling. Best stay in a long time..
Stayed for one night. Rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. A bit dark inside the hotel. They don't have alot of lighting but everything else is great.
Hotel was really nice, clean rooms, great location. Only drawback: the hotel has a policy whereby you can't even bring a bottle of water into the pool area. I specifically booked this hotel because of the pool; with family staying we wanted to hang out there at night. But how long are you going to stay somewhere you can't even take a sip of water? This was a first for me and because of this I'll stay across the street next time.
Male clerk tried to get in to our occupied room, no knock, not knowing we were occupying the room...how does that happen. Loud music and male clerk wouldn't have the neighbors turn it down because he was afraid of the drug use in there or whatever. So I had to handle it myself. Cockroachs are as big as a thumb nail and everywhere.
This is the one time I should have listened to my instincts. After 35 years of hotels my wife and I decided to stay here after learning the Holiday Inn and Best Western were full. At 8:30 pm Monday May 19 there was no hot water. Called front desk and heard something I have never heard, “ we’re booked out” as a reason for inadequate property management. I went to the breakfast area where 3 men were talking and ask them if they had hot water. They are regular customers that work in the mines and there response was that it’s a common issue. They had same issues with their rooms. Unbelievable, after reading the reviews of good and bad( there is a dingy smell from antiquated beds floors and bathroom fixtures)there was a common thread….the owner always thanked the people for their comments either their complaints or all good reviews but I am convinced after this incident it’s this is nothing more than pacification of a more serious issue: failure to keep property up to Choice Standards.
From the location, to the friendly hotel staff and clean, comfortable rooms at a fair price you simply cannot get a more favorable deal. I enjoyed my stay and have decided this is my spot for my future stays when I am in the area. So much history close by. It is nice to relax and feel safe and comfortable after a long day and for me this Comfort brings just that. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the continental breakfast 🥞 and fresh coffee or juice to start the day!!
I can’t tell you how kind enough the staff here were to us! We needed to have my husband taken care of after a medical incident and the staff didn’t bat an eye! They jumped right to helping us and were so so so kind. I can’t thank you enough
Don’t Stay here unless you want to be double charged and belittled by the GM after you bring it up. Making fraudulent charges and complaining when we say something. Next time don’t hire a total idiot and make sure our stuff is fixed.

Incredibly helpful folks here! Very knowledgeable about what to do in town and around the Gila! Definitely worth stopping in to chat with the locals. Lots of brochures with helpful information for you to help make your decisions on what to see. I stayed in town for 3 days, in that time I was only able to scratch the surface of what this wonderful community has to offer. Will be back!
Knowledgeable staff are kind and helpful here! There is a large display of information on the CDT, community murals, local artist exhibits, and local history.
I love the history of Billy the kid so if you do it's really cool even though it's not the original house but still the same location.
Worth stopping in to get the local deets; but if it’s closed temporarily based on a one person show; and you’re desperate for a restroom - then go over the foot bridge on the right for the city restrooms. The Visitors Ctr was closed when we arrived so we walked around & found the replica of Billy the Kid’s childhood log cabin, Silver City Main Street & Little Toad Brewery. We returned to the Visitor’s Ctr. parking lot & we’re able to enter at that time. It was worth the wait; the person at the desk is local & knows the great trails & things to do if you have only a few hours or a few days to explore Silver City, the Continental Divide hike & the beautiful, Gila Mtn area.
Very helpful volunteers guided us to a treasury of local businesses on a Monday, when many shops are closed.
Due to Covid the small shops were closed BUT the overall atmosphere was very nice. They even had a reproduction of an 1870 log cabin donated by Ron Howard (producer and star) that was used in a movie. It was on the site of the original cabin that Billy the Kid lived with his mom and brothers. Walk the downtown and feel the history.
Really pretty lil town it would have been nice that on the weekends everything was open or had more displays for people to see they had a nice Museum
Very nice people there. Good selection of post cards.

What an impressive collection of pottery and artifacts here! Knowledgeable staff was helpful in understanding what is in their collection too. All for a donation in a beautiful building too. Thank you!
Well displayed collection of Mimbres pottery and other artifacts from private sites (admittedly plundered, which is an authentic acknowledgement). Would be helpful to have associated dates if that's possible. New items have been added and are in the process of curation. The museum building itself is early 20th century and well preserved. Well worth visiting. Glad to see the initiation of tribal consultation under NAGPRA.
One of the most expansive collections of ancient Southwestern pottery l have ever seen qas housed inside this museum. My only disappointment was that the pottery was not dated, specifically, to pottery trends of the "time" they were created, nir even "best guessed" about the date(s) of creation. Many Native American tribes across the SW region were making pottery as far back as 200-300 A.D. The dates "assigned" to the pieces in this museum were dates that collectors found them, literally hundreds, and possibly tens of hundreds, of years after the pottery was made and used, so that aspect fell very flat for me. Nevertheless, the collections is amazing, and again, quite expansive! If you are a Native Amerucan pottery buff, this is a museum worth seeing. One can't beat the price of admission either - FREE!
Curated in a former gymnasium and classroom building, this collection of pottery is extensive and beautifully displayed. We had not allocated enough time to do the display justice and I hope to return soon to rectify that mistake. A small but classy gift store offers great mementoes. Accessed through the WNMU campus, with modest but free parking.
A bit difficult to find but worth the visit
Though not a large collection such as one would find at the Museum in Deming, it is all presented with very good lighting and accessibility. Worth the visit if you are in Silver City. The young woman behind the desk was quite helpful.
A peaceful display room,2 floors displaying pottery and other artifacts from the region.worth a look.
An overall amazing museum. Beautiful ceramics and restored buildings on the campus. As an archaeologist, I am concerned about the display of ceramics with ceremonial kill holes and artifacts available for public interaction. Were tribes consulted for these display decisions? If so, that should be an element of the display interpretation. I fear the artifacts available to touch may be pocketed by unscrupulous visitors. If they have been scientifically exhausted and the tribes consulted, then that's fine, though another opportunity for interpretation on the issues of consultation, black market antiques, and curation crisis.

Nice park with excellent play structures for kids. Overall clean and mostly graffiti-free. Pretty tile mosaic murals. Good for young people to have somewhere to go and be outside! There are tables with benches and other places for sitting to eat and/or watch your children. Good vibes.
We absolutely love Penny Park. We have been driving to Silver City for years (about an hour and 15 min from our house) to take our kids there to play. I started as a single mom going, and then when my husband and I got married, we took the whole brood up there and are still going!! Over 15 years!! Our oldest is 26 and our youngest is 6. We have lots of good memories and a really neat park.
Holy cat that's a nice playground!
We had my granddaughter's birthday party here and the kids had lots of fun and so did the adults
Great park for kids. Lots of different age appropriate play structures. Parking is a little difficult to find - park on the west side of the park.
Beautiful park, well maintained, clean and lots of activities for children of all ages.
Very nice, family oriented, loved our first visit ❤️
The kids section is closed down due to covid, but it's clearly an awesome park. Just behind it is a really cool skate park.

A wonderful place with endless items. I was there almost 2 hours and didn't make it through all of it. Can't wait to go back.
Mall was nice, lots of stuff. Parking is tight, and around lots of 1-way streets. Record collection to dig through is amazing.
Good Stuff - Real bad service The store looks like the vendors have nice things but we were basically kicked out an hour before the store was said to close because the person behind the counter’s “phone didn’t work”. He was pretty rude in general. If he said it when we walked in, that’s fine, but he waited ten minutes after to come tell us we needed to leave. Vendors! You deserve better! I would have loved to been able to buy some of your things! I hope you get someone better to represent you in the future.
Awesome place! Full of cool things! Plan to spend some time here. It's huge! I dare you to shop there and not buy something. From tools to toys, clothes to cookware, books to boots, jewelry to junk. They've got a little of everything!
tons of stuff, picked up a nice juicer for less than five bucks
Showed up at 10am during the week during posted hours and it was closed. Waited about 15 minutes then left. Items in window looked nice but shop was closed. Update: Came back later. Store has a ton of neat things! Even if you don't care for antiques there's something for everyone here. Person at the register was very friendly :)
This man is the most annoying, unnecessary, rude, mouth breathing person I had ever met. There is no reason for him to be in costumer service. You would have a better time speaking to a scammer than this “manager”. If you want to argue with a grown man on how to conduct himself properly this is not your man. He gave me a vibe that if we were not girls he would not have said anything. “Unnecessary”. If we were men would it have happened? He gives silver a bad name and tarnishes this towns kind reputation and his putrid attitude. Smooth boy
Huge store with more antiques than I think I've ever seen. Almost like a museum where you can buy the things you see.

What a wonderful business and product. I have used many, many different tiles over the years and all pale in comparison. I have done both my kitchen and bath in this tile and LOVE it. The business owners (Josh and Carolyn) are such great caring and loving people that care about their community. I will be using then again and again! I give this business, its owners and employees 5 stars all around.
I have gotten to know some of the people that work at Syzygy since I moved to Silver City a year ago. They are remarkable in that they are always welcoming and willing to share their expertise. I have taken all my guests to visit them and even though I drop in without notice they are always happy to take the time to give us a tour of the factory. They have shown me how important it is to them to turn out a product that will please their customers. The tiles are handmade with meticulous care. The company supports community events and really cares about the town and it's people.
Great place to visit to see a New Mexico original. If you love handmade ceramic tile, you will be in heaven. You will come away with an appreciation for all the time, attention and detail that goes into this handmade tile. You should stop in and check it out when you are in town.
I went into the showroom to check it out. This place has the most beautiful custom tiles I've ever seen—top-notch quality. I had to be careful. Seeing all the creative tiles made me think of tiling everything from my backsplash to my toilet bowl and everything in between.
If you live great design and interiors you have got to check out Syzygy in Silver City, New Mexico. All of the tiles are designed and fired right on their site. You can even bring your own design ideas for your own home design projects.
I was amazed at the variety of tiles made at this local company. The show room is fantastic with every conceivable color and design of tile. We were given a tour of the complete facility, they can make anything you can dream up.

Owner Sheri is awesome. We love her sidewalk sales. Everything is 25 cents. Yeah we got this perfect cart for a quarter!
First time I ever saw this place I was about to walk in and the lady who came out to fix the sign gave off some ugly vibes so I said forget it. Weeks later I decided to give it a try. As I walked in I noticed the “No coffee allergy sign” and already knew this wasn’t going to be a great experience. The place was a mess with mean looking workers who were just sitting around giving ugly looks when they could be organizing all that junk. Because that’s what it all was. Nothing good at all just ugly junk. I wouldn’t take it even if it was free. Just rude vibes all around no wonder they have so much junk, can’t sell anything with them attitudes so it just sits there and while their attitudes get worse. Won’t be getting a dime from me.
Great place! Always find good stuff. The owner has always been so nice to me!
Great place if you're looking For vintage items, owner was a great lady, only downside is the place is just absolutely packed to the brim. It's hard to see anything as there just too much can't even walk around much.
my favorite place to stop if I got both a spare min &a spare dollar!! extremely reasonable n the gals down there are the best!!

New Mexico history conference held here, with approximately 300 hundred person's in attendance! What a great historical experience! Super job by Susan Barry and her committee in organizing this outstanding event. Enjoyed!
Fun space overall but it sure needs some artwork on the walls; at the very least in the lonnnnggg hallway to the restrooms. That hallway is so awkward and could serve as a great space to display New Mexico artists.
Nice facility. Went to the rock and mineral show. Seemed like there was plenty of room for all types of events. The vendors this time were packing the place full. Very clean and updated look.
Work meeting in a clean space with friendly staff! Thank you, Mr. Cruz for accomidating us so last minute.
