It’s such a beautiful and peaceful place, of course it’s not a fancy but if you’re looking for a place that has a good atmosphere and full of Japanese culture, a part of Ise jingu , you should visit here
Great place to visit! It’s small but it’s unique
The serenity and beauty of the surrounding Sugi Tree gardens coupled with the constant sound of running water is absolutely out of this world. The stately Sugi trees surrounding the shrine is also a sight to behold. What is most interesting though is the architecture of the shrine is a Japanese invention, it goes back to approximately 1800 years ago before Buddhism came to Japan and it's Chinese form of architecture. This shrine predates the Ise Jinja in Mie ken and the structure is made entirely of Sugi trees unpainted and planed. The jinja is dedicated to the goddess Amaterasu and this is evident in the criss crossed timber with the edges cut horizontal to the ground. You can buy some carp food and feed the carp.
Nice place to visit, when a down day. Nice and big red woods
It's the best I'v ever seen.
(Translated by Google) The three cedar trees at the entrance are a sight to behold, and although the middle has been cut off, they still have a magnificent presence. I dropped in without doing any research, but I was surprised to find that the grounds are spacious, the shrine is historic, and there are 15 different shrines enshrined there. I visited the shrine to pray for a safe journey and good health.
(Translated by Google) Although it's in the same Nagano prefecture as Suwa, it's quite far away, about a 30-minute walk from the station. It is the oldest surviving Shinmei-zukuri shrine building, and the main hall has been designated a National Treasure. Shinto shrines tend to be rebuilt during Shikinen Sengu (period rebuilding of the shrines), so it's rare for old buildings to remain intact. This shrine seems to have been rebuilt up until 300 years ago, but has since been repaired and remains intact. By the way, if we don't limit it to Shinmei-zukuri shrines, the oldest surviving shrine is Ujigami Shrine in Kyoto, which is also a National Treasure (and is one of Kyoto's World Heritage Sites).

One of the best natural Skii resort for beginner to intermediate level Skii / Snowboarders. Less crowded comparatively and well maintained public facilities. Rentals (Snowboard/Skii set) are the cheapest we have seen in and around Nagano / Niigata. Plenty of free parking space. Skii School was also good, lesson for kid (debut) was of 2 hours during which instructor brought the kids confidence to the level of getting on to the lift on their own.
Easy, fun, groomed slopes, not all lifts were open to get to higher slopes. Be careful with your skis and poles, they might get stolen.
Came to Kashimayari for a change and was pleasantly surprised. A lot less crowded than Happo One and Hakuba 47 and runs are just as good in my opinion. A range of terrain from beginner to advanced, and even a small terrain park which many other resorts lack. Unfortunately the days I went to Kashimayari the snow was average at best but on a good snow day it could be fabulous. The restaurant is one of the best in Hakuba Valley, it has good food, reasonable prices and I have never had trouble finding a table. Only issue is having to exchange your valley passes at the start and end of the day however only takes a couple minutes. An Underated resort!!
The ski resort is good for beginners as most of the slopes are easy and not too steep, though for the more challenging slopes they open later in the season because snow is infrequent in the early winter of Hakuba. There are plenty of parking spaces (which are free by the way) but as the resort is mostly catered to Japanese not too many people come so it’s more free and wide. January to March would be the best time to come as more courses are open.
Incredible value for money and some of the best on mountain food we had whilst at the Hakuba valley. We chose to go here on a powder day and it was epic! So quiet with no lift queues
Some great tree riding when the top lift is riding and the snow is pumping. Very few tourists bother getting the shuttle down from Happo or Echoland so it's relatively quieter than the other hills on the Valley pass. Mostly a locals hill for the nearby town of Omachi, and still a little behind the other Valley resorts in infrastructure (swap your season pass for a paper ticket, for example). All in all it's a fun place to ride with good challenges for all levels.
Snow quality was fantastic, but only two lifts running at the start of the season. There's some discounts available if you buy lift passes early online, plus some good activities for kids. Free parking is available.
What a great local’s mountain…. Very Affordable…..Good food! I felt like it was my own personal ski resort in the morning. We had the mountain all to ourselves. I’ll be visiting again!

Absolutely a romantic place for couples as well as families with kids. They have various kinds of activities the whole year like arts and crafts, cooking, baking etc. Great for outdoor exercise. So laid-back. A must-see during winter too, just be ready for a chilly night. They have free rides on a beautiful mini tram.
Came on 30 April to see the tulips - honestly my favourite time of the year !! If you are lucky enough to get good weather this is the best time, the climate is perfect and the flowers are stunning.
I am very fond of huge park for walking. I could take my dog too. Various flower and picturesque area for taking photos.
Huge beautiful park, you can take a dog for walk and kids will enjoy the adventure playground!
Great place to hang out with family. Not too crowded.
It’s great place to have kids play in the nature safely. It’s a huge park so that we couldn’t go all the places inside of this park but kids had fun fully all day.
Very nice Park with groomed hiking paths and several sites to experience outdoor woodcraft and view natural vegetation of the area.
Recommend place to go with kids. One ticket for 2 parks and kids are free. Lots of free activities in the park. You can see wild Japanese monkeys on the road to the park if you are lucky.

Accessible small lake surrounded by beautiful mountains of Hakuba, Nagano. Well known for paddling activities such as canoe, kayak, and SUP. The water quality is pretty good. You can see through a few meters deep. There are several camp sites and hotels, so it is nice to combine overnight activities with paddle sports.
Very beautiful water. Be respectful and take your rubbish. The locals don't like that it's becoming more well known. This was maybe my favourite day in Japan. Respect this place and the locals will respect you.
Stopped by in the winter and it was STUNNING very peaceful, calm, and relax. If you are on the way back from Hakuba to Tokyo, i would recommend to stop by and relax here!
One of the must visit places when you are in Hakuba. It is just three stations away from Hakuba. The view is breath-taking. You won't find many people around.

Although the amount of water in the dam was low for this time of year, it was as beautiful as emerald green as rumored. It is a very close dam and you can see the cityscape of Omachi from the dam body. Omachi Dam has four purposes: flood control, power generation, stable supply of agricultural water, etc., and securing tap water. There are also parks such as the observation plaza under the dam, the Lake Ryujin observation plaza, and other parks. The Omachi Dam Information Center has a variety of materials and exhibits that you can tour for free. There is a Kotaro suspension bridge on the Takase River downstream of the dam, and you can see the front of Omachi Dam from the middle of the bridge. It was a great place with a great view. Fun place for the kids. My 8-6-3-year-old kids all loved it. Nothing fancy, but it has a kiddy playpool with a little slide, and also a real waterslide that they open once an hour for a 10 minutes or so. And there's a jacuzzi too.
It’s a little bit pricy without a coupon ticket. Wherever visiting any sight spots around here, look for coupon tickets. Without it, it costs 750yen but with the ticket it’ll be 500 yen. The ticket works for 5 person per ticket. It has one big indoor tub and 2 mid size tub outside. When sky is clear, stars are beautiful in outside onsen. Facility is seemed a bit old but could be a little more cleaner. This time maybe because of COVID-19, there’s much less people so that I saw no smokers. It was badly smok smelled when I came here last year.
The place is over 20 years old, a bit shabby and basic. 25 m pool, kids pool and jacuzzi . For 600 yen good enough. Also Onsen and restaurant on site
A good place to wash yourself, take a rest or to do a sauna.
Peaceful view and environment

In addition, those aged 65 and over with a silver ticket can enter the bath for 500 yen. I stopped by on my way back from Hakuba. There are several bathing facilities along the way, but the parking lots are small and at Yupurukizaki Lake, about 60 regular cars can be parked. As you enter the entrance, there is a Kailash Japan shop on the right side. The indoor bath is a little hot, the dry sauna and the open-air bath are lukewarm, and the spring quality is a simple hot spring sulfur spring that is clear and colorless. The lockers are free with keys, the lobby is spacious, and there is a rest room, so I felt refreshed and less tired, which made driving home easier. Cute and approachable museum with a cafe! You can learn about the local geology, fauna, and history of mountaineering. There is even a floor with a view over Omachi.
This place I planned in visiting and despite there being no busses here from the train station, the 30 minute walk felt relaxed (till the uphill part). The staff here are extremely helpful and really good out their way to be accommodating e.g. they realised they gave me the wrong leaflet so came looking for me to provide the right 1. The cafe and souvenir shop is integrated and has nice views while eating n drinking. The exhibits and history here is amazing and shows how harsh life was but also how adaptive the pple were.
Highly recommended. Panoramic views of the northern alps with a viewing level. Great info on the history of human interaction with the mountains, and animals to be found at different levels of the mountains. There's also a small zoo outside.

The entry of Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route in Matsumoto side. You have to get off buses from Shinano-Omachi station to get on the next one here. This station has a ticket counter service which sells various types of tickets that fit for your plan (1 way trip or round trip). Many parking lots are in front of the station. Very good service by staffs who can manage the crowd to get on the bus on time. If you plan to travel via the alpine route from Matsumoto side, I highly recommend you all to arrive here in early morning to avoid the crowd.
We started out from Toyama station and ending in this one. We needed to return and refund the express bus ticket for Nagano and buy a local bus ticket for Shinano-Omachi for picking up our forwarded luggage. It was the last bus service. The office only sells tickets, but not returning tickets. We had to run to the other end for another office for return and refund while the last bus was about to leave. In convenience caused by the delay of Aline route services.
We buy ticket from web and exchange the ticket here have enough parking lot.
Due to landslide, the road to Ogizawa station was closed early morning and the service is expected to be resumed from 10:00AM. The weather has been better today after the typhoon yesterday!!
Nice station and very good access to Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route from Nagano side. Wide parking lot space.

Lots of great info about the engineering involved to build the Kurobe Dam. Kids classes on power and energy.
The building is nice. Good for kids, many interactive activities
A bit dated, but still interesting & relevant. Plenty to keep kids busy. Not much English but most things are self-explanatory. Worth a visit if in the area.
Interesting but it's better to visit the surrounding areas like lakes and such. Everything is in Japanese. But for Japanese kids this could be a very good experience.
Nice for kids to play and learn, has many interactive activities for all ages from 2 onwards

(Translated by Google) I was intrigued by the name on my way back from a trip, so I stopped by, and it was just so wonderful! There are still remnants of the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism, but the architecture of the main hall and other buildings is wonderful, and I like the calm, uncommercial atmosphere that hasn't been commercialized and is not touristy♪ I'll post some photos of the history of the temple. When I looked at the photos I took later, I realized that I couldn't see the tip of the nine wheels on the roof, and I was once again surprised at how high it was. As you walk through the precincts, on the front left is the worship hall of Wakaichi Oji Shrine, and on the right is the thatched-roofed Oji Kannon Hall. I’m a season ticket holder at this resort. They really have good slopes. Even though this resort isn’t really big you can enjoy a lot. They even have tree lining in some areas. Only thing they could improve is they were severely under staffed at the rental shop. might be due to the new year holidays some of them waited for more than 2 hours for rentals. Other wise really good resort and the perk is its really cheap for a pass (almost half comparing to other hakuba resort) and does not get overcrowded
Very good slopes in a small ski resort that are suitable for beginners. It can be crowded on weekends and there are very few foreigners here; mostly, it is local people
This was such a great little resort. Don’t always need the flash fancy resorts just to enjoy some nice powder. Not crowded once you’re up on the slopes.
Nice and simple ski resort, great for beginners to intermediate levels. There's a park for tricks and jumps too. Food is slightly cheaper than the big resorts. Toilets are clean and newly renovated.
Beginner friendly slope. Good for family. A little small but still enjoyed lots.
Good for beginner player. Not crowded on weekday but not sure for weekend. Group lesion is @¥4000 for adult and ¥3500 for elementary students. Rental snowboard set is @¥3500.
Recommend for family with little kids. It is about 10 mins driving from Omachi onsen. Price is pretty reasonable here. All set of ski gear for adults costs ¥3000 and one-day lift tickets costs ¥3900. You can also purchase lift coupon at ¥350. Ski school is also available here. There is wide food variation here but taste is normal. As for ski course, there are several options from beginners to advanced players. Moreover, there is specific area for kids to play snow.
Nice small-sized family ski resort. Definitely for beginners and kids given the limited number of slopes and low elevation. Very friendly staff overall and super welcoming. Ski instructors are kind and knowledgeable with kids, and few can speak Englis. Kids have a dedicated sledge area. The pizza place called powder puff is yummy and welcoming.

(Translated by Google) I climbed it on a Friday in early August as the third mountain on a short climbing trip. After descending Mt. Senjogatake the previous day, I did a quick internet search and found out that the Gongora that goes up to Happo-one starts at 7am, but I woke up at Hakuba Roadside Station just after 6:30am. After breakfast in the car, I stopped at a convenience store on the way and bought 2 liters of water. I didn't buy any frozen drinks, thinking it wouldn't be too hot since it was a high mountain. Deposit your bicycle at the Escal Plaza parking lot where you plan to descend. It was already past 7:30 when we moved to Happo Station, the starting point for the climb. As it is a popular mountain climbing spot, in front of the ticket office there is a mountain climbing registration submission corner manned by two staff members. Apparently, if you are using mountain climbing equipment, you will be refused ticket sales unless you have submitted a notification. When I filled it out and handed it over, I told them that I was going to Mt. Goryu and taking a day trip down the gondola over there, but they just said, "I think it's going to be hot today," and didn't say anything else. The process may not be as big of a deal as I thought. I got on the gondola around 7:50. According to the rough schedule I made in the morning, I left Happoike Sanso at 8am. The last train is scheduled to arrive at Alps-daira Station at 4:30 p.m. at 4:29 p.m. Considering the ride time on the way up, I'm already calculating that I won't be able to make it in time. I had researched and learned that the Goryu Telecabin on the way down had extended service if I called, but I was confident that I would still be able to make it in time regardless of that. I didn't pay much attention to it during the transfer, but the station where I got off the last lift was quite busy. Looking around the trail, there were even more climbers, and it seemed to be more popular than Mt. Senjogatake. It may be that there are more people on Fridays, but considering the access to the start of the walk, the scenery seems to be more than equal, so it's no wonder. You'll be climbing an open ridge, so unless there's a steep slope in front of you, you'll have a great view of the mountains to the left and right. Even so, there are a lot of people. I think I passed over a hundred people in the 30 minutes it took to get to Happoike. The difference is slight. There is a small area of shallow forest between Happo Pond and Snow Valley. The mountain trail has wide sections and occasional stairs, but the slope is gentle. Many of the people who were properly equipped for mountain climbing seemed to have helmets, which made me wonder if Mt. Goryu was a dangerous area. When I asked some of the climbers I passed, they didn't say that it was as difficult as Mt. Suishodake, or that it would be fine for people who have been hit, or that it was clearly dangerous. There is a possibility that people who were traveling vertically just used it on a different section. It took 1 hour and 47 minutes to reach the mountain hut at the top of Mt. Karamatsudake. It was scheduled to take 2 hours and 48 minutes, so I was over an hour early. Routes with many people may have longer course times. I'm not in a hurry, but this time I don't think the distance is such that I can get a time of less than 36 minutes, so I don't think the triple speed theory holds true. Since I had some free time, I stopped at Mt. Karasatsu which I hadn't planned on and spent 40 minutes there. With the addition of a 20 minute delay in departure, the original schedule was maintained. Before heading to Mt. Goryu, I took a quick peek at the mountain hut at the top of Mt. Karamatsu. It costs 300 yen to use the toilet. The toilet near Happoike Sanso Station had a donation box, but no one seemed to be paying, so I used it for free, so it seemed expensive, but considering the location, I think it was a reasonable price. The atmosphere changes instantly on the mountain trail heading towards Mt. Goryu from the mountain hut at the top of Mt. Karamatsu. As soon as you walk along the narrow ridge, you will soon reach a chain trail going downhill. This is a section where passing each other and overtaking can be troublesome, but unlike in the past, there was less traffic, so I was able to proceed surprisingly smoothly. I don't think there's a high risk of falling rocks if it's not crowded. Three out of the three people I passed, and five out of the eight people I passed, were wearing helmets. On a slightly conspicuous reddish-brown sandy hill on the route, perhaps the lowest saddle, I conversed with two climbers in the same direction, one passing each other. The two men, who left their accommodation at 3:30 in the morning, appeared to have little equipment, but I heard that they were traveling vertically. He said he entered the mountain from Ogizawa just before noon the previous day. One person in the same direction was clearly heavily armed, apparently traveling in traverse. I asked them how long it would take to get to the next mountain hut. From this location, I estimated it would take about 90 minutes to reach the summit of Mt. Goryudake. In front of Goryu Sanso, there is a road that winds to the right around a small peak, and when you climb to the point where you can look down on the mountain hut, there is a branch that leads up to the peak. The sign said Tomi-ridge, but at this point I foolishly didn't recognize the name of the ridge on the descent route in kanji, so I thought I had taken a wrong turn somewhere and detoured to Mt. misunderstanding. As I looked up in confusion, I noticed a strange number of people coming and going, so I started thinking that maybe I was climbing a hill to see the view or something, and I looked up at the people who were coming down (climbing at Far View Ridge). He grabbed one person and kept asking him questions repeatedly, causing trouble. It was just before 12:30 noon, but there were only about 10 people in the square in front of Goryu Sanso, including those who were pitching tents, and strangely, no one seemed to be eating. . The climber who had caused trouble earlier quickly moved deeper into the hut. Maybe he was in a hurry because he had a reservation for lunch. I was surprised when I saw the room rate. Considering the recent price increase, 15,000 yen for one night and two meals at a mountain hut may not be too expensive, but personally, I think it's an amount that I'd rather spend on a day trip. However, isn't 11,000 yen for a room without meals quite expensive? The road to Mt. Goryu seems surprisingly gentle when viewed from in front of Goryu Sanso. There is a sign in front of the hut that says the upper part is a steep rocky area and takes 2 to 3 hours round trip. When I actually climbed the mountain, there were several chains along the way and it felt tougher than I had imagined, but I didn't rush and it only took about 40 minutes, so it wasn't long at all. Perhaps because it was close to the hut, there were many climbers on this section, and I encountered about 50 people on the round trip. We arrived at the summit after 1:00 p.m. The difference from the estimated time required at the lowest saddle was 8 minutes. I spent 5 minutes around Goryu Sanso, so considering the travel time, that's an extra 3 minutes, which is about a 3% error. Estimation is quite reliable. 30 minutes at the top of the mountain. Started descending the mountain at around 1:40 p.m. I had a rough schedule, so I didn't know when I was supposed to descend the mountain. The descent through Goryu Sanso is scheduled to take place at 1:51 p.m., so it is understood that the train will be delayed. I got down to Goryu Sanso in 30 minutes, paid a 200 yen fee, and relieved myself. I later found out that the lodging rates at Karasatsudake Summit Sanso and Goryu Sanso were the same. For some reason, the toilet fee is cheaper at Goryu Sanso. We confirmed the extended operation of the down gondola at the tent reception desk next to the hut entrance. There were signs along the way with contact information, and I learned that cell phone signals were generally available except in the saddle. I left Goryu Sanso at 2:18 p.m. 27 minutes behind schedule. In the morning, I was thinking that if there was a system called extended driving, there was a possibility that someone else would call me if they were later than me. As usual, I made the naive assumption that if I hurried a little, I might be able to make it in time for 4:30 p.m. There's no big deal. About 15 minutes after I started descending, I passed 9 people, and in the next 25 minutes I passed 5 people. I asked some of the people if they had encountered anyone descending the mountain ahead of them, and half of them said they had no recollection of meeting one, and half said they had seen one a long time ago. Even if there is one, it will probably be a long way away. I can't say for sure about the view towards the summit as the direction of travel is opposite to the direction of descent on the way down, but I think there were more trees blocking the sides early on and there were more roads that went up and down narrow ridges, so it was better than Happo-one. I feel like the view is bad. The temperature rises as the altitude decreases, and since there are no trees to cover our heads, the sun shines down on the back of our necks, making it extremely hot and consuming all of our drinking water. According to the schedule, there is no remaining capacity until the down gondola station, with more than an hour left. I remember experiencing the sensation of descending down a swelteringly hot ridge before, but where was it? At 3:15 p.m., I saw the gondola's business hours and phone number signboard for the first time at Otomi. I was confused because the last time was 16:15. It was an old signboard, so I assumed the information was outdated. I don't know if it's a typo or if it's inaccurate, but it said there was about 5km (about 2.5H) left. At 15:51, according to the signboard, we were at the boundary between the mountain trail and the trekking course. From then on, there will be more wooden paths and stairs, making it easier to walk. At 16:17, I caught up with the person ahead of me. Two parents and children. A few minutes away from Jizo no Kashira. I decided that this progress was probably the deadline to meet the final deadline, so I let my guard down. As I was walking and talking with the children, I encountered a gondola staff member. It appears that the extended driving request has already been made. I felt relieved when I arrived at the lift station, but was told that the gondola station was even further away. The last lift was at 16:15. In front of the gondola station, there was a flower bed area with a grid of paths, so although it wasn't a maze, it was a bit of a wasted walk. Just before the station, when I caught up with another person ahead of me, time was over at 16:30. There was no sign of being in a hurry, so I thought it was strange, so I spoke to him and found out that he had already contacted me for an extended drive. When paying at the counter, I asked if the surcharge would start from 5:30pm, and was told that there had been a change at the end of July and it would start from 4:30pm, but they gave me a bonus. At the time, the website clearly stated that the event would start at 5 p.m., so this was a natural response. I wonder if this is a basic service, but we were provided with cold towels when we got on the gondola. This is a welcome consideration. Perhaps because it was past normal business hours, unlike at Happo-one in the morning, each person was not seated separately, but was instead riding with the person who had gone before. Travel 6-7 km by bicycle to the starting point, the parking lot in front of Happo Station. The vending machines at the facilities near the station where I got off the gondola seemed to have high prices, so I bought drinks at a convenience store along the way. Replenishes nearly 2 liters of water at once. I realized that the advice I received in the morning about the heat was appropriate.

The Azumino side was covered in clouds for a long time, but I enjoyed the sea of clouds and the sunrise while taking photos of Mt. Goryu as it gradually became brighter. It was a little steep from Goryu Sanso, but the weather was so clear that I enjoyed the climb. (Translated by Google) Of course, I was careful on the Happo Kiretto, which is known to be a difficult section, but the descent to Kuchinosawa Col and the ups and downs around G5 were more mentally exhausting, with long periods of chain-riding. Although the weather wasn't great, I was glad to be able to fully enjoy the route with its continuous rocky terrain.
Good spot to see view of Japan alps and cherry blossom.
Must visit during sunset.
Great view of the northern alps and history of mountaineering here
I love the dinosaur egg!
Extremely beautiful place
