By the time we were done we have 4 holds of $250 on my card, another first for me. Usually when you charge to the room you pay at checkout at the end of your trip. We were moved to a better section. We had to ask other guests as it was not clearly noted anywhere, but there are water stations around the resort to fill water bottles. Some were cold and refreshing, water came out warm at other stations. There was no "welcome packet" in the room, like information about the resort, maps or helpful information provided. We ate at three of the restaurants on site and none of the food was better than mediocre. It honestly tasted like they were all frozen pre-packaged meals. Nothing tasted fresh or cooked from scratch. I was surprised how very few of the staff at this resort seemed happy to be there or willing to help. We had a couple good servers at the restaurants, but it was not consistent at all. The bartenders were probably the worst I have ever experienced. No personalities, no indication they wanted to serve you, avoided you while standing at the bar tops. All drinks at the outdoor bars were served in plastic 10oz cups. Didn't matter if it was a frozen margarita, a beer, a cocktail or a shot, they all came in a 10oz cup. My wife and I have decided that this will be our go-to place, we cant wait to get back to the Amsterdam and are already looking at dates for next year.......I highly recommend to anybody who needs a relaxing place to be with well appointed rooms, top notch staff and perfect setting right across from the best beach in Aruba. And by the way, the grocery store is a short walk, we ended up doing a shrimp boil one night and brazilian beef filets another night, the rooms kitchen had everything I needed to make great meals. We were greeted in our room with a bottle of champagne, cheese, crackers, and macarons! I love that you could pick your beach chair the night before on the iPad. Flags on every beach chair allowed us to order food and drinks to our chair a breeze! I have celiac disease and it was easy to eat gluten free at the Bucuti & Tara with GF markers on the menu, separate fryer for the French fries, and GF options at the breakfast buffet (they even had a separate GF toaster at the buffet). The staff was always there to help with anything you might need and everyone has a smile and says hi as you walk by. Our room was very clean and spacious. The hotel was very quiet inside, we could not hear other guests, and it was also quiet by the beach and pool! Food and drinks were delicious and the area was walkable to several coffee shops and other restaurants near by. We parked our rental car easily and for free at the hotel, but taxis were readily available as well. The resort was LGBTQ friendly, which was very important for me and my wife. My wife and I just returned home from our honeymoon. We stayed here for 7 nights. We stayed for our honeymoon so we spared no expense. Everything offered here is just perfect. The staff members are always looking for ways to make your day better.
