St Joseph's Church is a striking example of Brutalist architecture, designed by Auguste Perret. The church features an imposing octagonal tower and stunning geometric stained-glass windows. Standing at 107 meters tall, the illuminated spire serves as a beacon visible from the sea. While Perret intended the church to serve as a memorial to those lost in war due to his atheistic beliefs, collaborator Raymond Audigier envisioned it as a symbol of gratitude for peace.
Humbling and impressive church rebuilt to also act as a memorial to the previous church and lives lost to the bombings that leveled a lot of the city in the WWII 1944/1945 timeframe to include the hommage to the priest who lost his life going down with his church. Very modern and sobering structure now. Worth the story and understanding, especially with the carnage photos.

Surprisingly great brutalist church. Imposing architecture and magnificent lights inside thanks to the artistically tinted glasses. Perfect combination with the austere concrete interior decoration. Amazing
Tony B — Google review
Unique angular and modern architecture with a single tall steeple covered in coloured glass. Worth the trip to go inside to admire the colours. Even the seating is non traditional with pews on the sides of the central stage.
Tony K — Google review
A truly unique and beautiful church Can easily spent hour here just by admiring the architecture I had mixed feelings like being on the spaceship 😂
Ana V — Google review
This quite modern church tower can be seen almost anywhere in Le Havre. Quite an imposing structure, modern because Le Havre was flattened in WW2.
Ewan B — Google review
Most extraordinary church, I've ever been to. Great acoustic, and impressive piece of architecture
Piotr M — Google review
What a beautiful church, I lovely walk upto it past some boutique shops, it's cold inside (we visited in February off a cruise) but the stained glass and serenity is wonderful. €2 cash to light a small candle if you are thinking of this, no cards here as far as I can see. Free to enter here too.
Simon D — Google review
Visiting this church was one of the greatest and most meaningful experiences of my life. The building is simply stunning - impossible to adequately capture in words. I lit a candle for my departed daughter. 10 years on but never forgotten.

Art museum
The Museum of Modern Art André Malraux, also known as MuMa, is a striking glass-walled gallery located at the end of Rue de Paris. Inaugurated in 1961, this modernist museum houses an extensive collection spanning five centuries of art, with a particular focus on Impressionist and Fauvist painters. The building's design features a cube of glass that faces the sea, allowing natural light to flood the space.
A lovely art gallery to visit, right on the seafront in Le Havre. Some very attractive impressionist paintings to view, including a couple of Monet, Renoir and Pissarro among others. A friendly welcome, nice little shop and useful free lockers and loos too
Mary G — Google review
Really nice gallery. Not to big you can have a nice walk trough it and enjoy the art
Min T — Google review
It's really good. So many times I visited Le Havre, but it was my first time in MuMA. Exceptional collection of Boudin, some interesting pieces of Matisse, and, of course, Raoul Dufy, my love. Great accueil.
Oksana S — Google review
Art museum was about an hour or so walk through. Most of the writings about the paintings were in French, so used a translator to read the ones I cared about. A lot of the art work had audible recordings if you choose to go that route. First time here and possibly my last, as we’re from the US. So took this opportunity to view some recognized artwork with my own two eyes. Very surreal if you stop and think about the history you’re staring at.
Joseph P — Google review
Small regional museum. The collection is big but only a small number of paintings are displayed in a single large room on the first floor. Also the lights through the large windows are difficult with the sun outside. Only 1hour for the full tour of the permanent collection.
GentilDanseur G — Google review
Small but compact. It is one of the most interesting places I have visited. Photography amazing and matching paintings of scenes with actual photos. The history of photography is so interesting. Must see on your list.
Roger W — Google review
If you like impressionist art, this is a perfect museum. It has some modern art as well. The cafe seems to be a great place for lunch. It was very busy when we were there.
Mary A — Google review
Very interesting museum with friendly staff. Some lesser known impressionist works as well as some well known ones such as Renoir and Pissaro. Also some works that were curiously not at all modern. The restaurant is also very good value for an excellent three course lunch. We went on a Friday which seemed to serve a reduced price menu. Lovely sea views.

Le Havre Cathedral, also known as Cathedrale Notre-Dame du Havre, is a 16th-century stone cathedral that has stood the test of time, surviving the Allied bombing raids during WWII. This architectural gem showcases a blend of flamboyant Gothic and Baroque styles. Situated in the vibrant city of Le Havre on the northern coast of France, this UNESCO World Heritage site offers visitors a glimpse into its rich maritime history and modernist architecture.
Very nice, great visit, plenty to see, watch the hours to make sure they will be open for planning purposes.

The Hanging Gardens in Le Havre, France, are a captivating destination for travelers seeking natural beauty and panoramic views. Situated on the site of a 19th-century Napoleonic fort overlooking the Seine estuary, these gardens offer breathtaking vistas of the sea and port. Visitors can explore four bastions adorned with rare plants collected by botanist explorers and wander through greenhouses filled with fragrant flora from around the world.
We had a lovely walk here . We came when there was a heatwave and in the gardens you could really enjoy the fresh air. You have different types of gardens all very beautiful . There is a cafe and a labyrinth as well . You can really do a gorgeous walk and have some stunning views from Le Havre . There are 2 entries with both having parking which makes it very easy . Parking is free . Definitely worth the visit.
MarieLaure A — Google review
We came on a cold but sunny day in January. It was very quiet but peaceful to sit on the chairs and ponder…. The greenhouses were closed, which was a shame, as we were only in Le Havre for the day. The gardens were well kept and could imagine it was be beautiful in the spring/summer!
Elisa W — Google review
Gorgeous gardens with lawns, greenhouses, paths, and an incredible view of Le Havre. When I visited there was a wonderful photo show as well. And the cafe is very nice too. I spent more than three hours at the gardens and would gladly have stayed longer.
Pedro A — Google review
Beautiful large gardens with something for everyone. There is a cafe open for visitors, and labyrinth for kids and many places to take photos of ancient structures and flora
Ronnie A — Google review
A heaven of peace and serenity. I love to stroll around here and enjoy this tranquil parc. It’s in a little hollow and this conveniently protected on windy days. It also features a lovely bistro. I did not visit the greenhouses that cost a small fee, yet.

Perfect for a nice evening stroll, the calm and relaxing scenery will ease your soul. This place is especially nice as few people take the time to get there, probably because it's up a hill. Anyway you should definitely try it !

Appartement Témoin Perret offers a glimpse into the innovative architecture and interiors designed by Auguste Perret. The apartment showcases modern amenities such as garbage chutes, bathtubs, and central forced-air heating that were provided to the residents of Le Havre after the bombings. Visitors can explore a model apartment reconstructed with period-accurate furniture and appliances. Guided visits are available, and advance reservations are highly recommended.
An exceptional place that lets you enjoy a day in the life of people in the 50s. It is a must visit if you're interested in the creation of the city of Le Havre, by the intelligent architect Auguste Perret. Everything is intact and very well kept, and at the end, there is a book to write your experiences. A must-visit!
Stefan M — Google review
This is only by reservation. As the Google description does not mention it, when l went they were already full. Their exhibition hall could have been open for people like me who are visiting for the day only — but it was closed. On the whole, everything is organised in a way that ensures it is convenient for the employees, not to cater to the visitors. Deeply disappointed as, having come from Paris for the day and having waited until they open in the mud-afternoon, l had genuine interest to learn more of the architectural legacy of Le Havre. It was not to be.
Dina I — Google review
If you are not fluent in French do not waste your time. We were interested in at least getting to know the apartment built by the architect Perret. We arrived at the counter in the morning and the attendant told us that there was only time for the end of the day. We returned, bought our tickets with the same attendant and entered with a group accompanied by the guide who told us that the tour would be only in French. That's fine with us, since we wanted to see the apartment. But the guide told us that the tour would last about an hour. We found it odd to spend an hour visiting an apartment, but when she stopped in the courtyard to explain the whole story, we were embarrassed to understand and see nothing. Alright the tour was in French, after all, we were in France. The problem was the attendant knew that we did not speak the language and sell us the ticket anyway. We gave up the ride after ten minutes of history on the patio, we went to the attendent, who admitted his fault, but told us that he could do anything, not even refunded the ticket we had just bought.
Reginaldo F — Google review
The only way to enter was with a guided tour and we were there at 10am, next tours were at 3.30 and 4:30.

Nestled in the charming Quartier Saint-François, the Maison de l'Armateur is a stunning 18th-century mansion that offers a fascinating glimpse into Le Havre's maritime history. This stately residence, designed by Paul-Michel Thibault, showcases exquisite Louis XVI-era furnishings and features an impressive octagonal atrium illuminated by a skylight.
An enjoyable dockside museum with a focus on Le Havre art and history. Not too big although there are alot of stairs so people with mobility issues may have some difficulty. I was lucky enough to stumble into this gem and loved my experience there. My only major problem was, as someone who does not speak French, I was unfortunate enough to arrive on a day where the guide did not speak English. However, they had tablets that they passed out that were written in English so you could follow along with the group and get an idea of what was going on. Reasonably priced, not too long, informative, and a great place to visit if you have time to kill and curiosity to satisfy.
Daniel K — Google review
Decent museum. We were given an English guide to read on most of the artifacts. They are not in the order they are presented in the rooms so it can be hard to find them in the book. Truthfully, they’re not that interesting anyway. I don’t believe any of them are original. The only reason I’d go to the museum is to see the architecture. It’s a very unique polygonal design with a large central open air skylight flooding all of the floors in light from within. The room layouts on the floors make it easy to understand that the family that built this house was wealthy and influential in Le Havre. If you’re interested in architecture, I’d recommend this museum. Otherwise it may be slightly frustrating to gain any insight into daily life of the inhabitants and the artifacts aren’t overly interesting.
Eric K — Google review
I didn't expect so much here, but I found amazingly well preserved rooms with fancy decorations and paintings from 18th and 19th centuries. This is one of those local museums in France where we are reminded that France has kept rich cultural heritage even after the devastation of the war here.
Shuji M — Google review
I wasn’t able to tour this location today as a walk in. Certain days are sold out to guided tours only and often those are in French. I would call ahead if you’re taking a stroll from your cruise ship to go see it. Also - there is a fairly strong odor even inside from the fresh fish market outside. 🤢
Katie J — Google review
Fascinating place giving a lot of le Havre history. Very well restored.
Patrick H — Google review
Nice little museum that can be visited in 1hr. Easily accessible by walking from the beach tram station or city hall. Worth a visit. Tells plenty of history about the individual life of a rich sailboat owner from the 18th century. No elevator in the museum, lot of stairs.

Beautiful inside. You gotta see the "indoor lighthouse" if you love architecture. Great maps of old Le Havre. Not as blocked off as other museums.
Maurice L — Google review
I went with my girlfriend at the time on a 1 day trip to france and we visited this place while walking around in the town .. I didn't like the look of the guy as we walked in because of the way he looked at us and i am a black man and by girlfriend is a black woman, i remember him with his dark black hair and his slim face and piercing dark eyes so he looked a crow in human history form or a heroin addict but after paying the entrance fee to walk around we just ignored him... Its a fascinating place that is like a pentagon shape and is about 4 floors in height and has many back rooms depicting 18-19th France and Culture and artistic type picture's and character's some of which are related to the Slave trade and Slavery... I as a black man find these types of places Highly offensive as they are symbols of Slavery of which the Le Havre as a port was actually created upon the bringing in of all types of goods including african slaves to which that area grew very wealthy and prosperous and became the place that it is today just like basically all of Europe's involvement... There is a stone carved picture of what looks like some Conquistadors type character's with thier swords raised and about to cut the head off a native person which shows the white mans mentality as that is one of the first things you see on the walls as you walk in off the street and is not exactly nice to see that as i am not a beast or a devil unlike so many others so i look at that and learn from my enemies.. After a while of being in there i felt nauseous at thinking about all the white supremacist Evil and attitude it took to build this same ships house museum whose previous owner/s created this place with the proceeds of slavery and the horrid shame of what they had done, so they built this place in Glorification to them and that part of France which has a Particularly Sickening history in thier treatment of african people's especially in Niger where the Human Demon French Officer Voulet slit the throats of men and women and burnt children alive and shelled a village and made the ground turn red makes the jewish holocaust look like a picnic as the World Will Never acknowledge the African Holocaust which was the Worst Evil Ever on the Planet but whites simply Do Not Care so they so i guess all thats left is Karma!... As we were leaving this what turned out to be not a great place for us to visit this nasty human crow man actually asked to look in our bags and i told him No F you.. I wanted to break his face apart but instead i used my Black Power and just walked out as i refuse to get nicked like that for some white trash like him so be careful of this guy if you go there as you may be be WHITE but you will be Pissed too if he asks to look in your bag!.. You white people are just way Top Much at times and your ignorance and stupidity and utter hatred of black peoples just shows Exactly who you are so please i beg you to keep it up so africans can see who you really are and forget all this george floyd nonsense.. We didn't go there to steal unlike what france is and has been doing for Centuries from African Countries and thier Evil and Warped theft of say Mali's Gold Alone is Legendary even amongst all of the white European nations Satanic rampage throughout the Mother Land of Africa, and the Demonic Slaughter of Millions upon millions of victims totalling many jewish holocausts, but again who cares so should i care about the Holocaust at all when jews owned the majority or lots of Slave ships and they Wont want you to know that... Ship Owners house museum will probably only appeal to white people really unless you are an African and didn't mind slavery and just like Kenwood house in Hampstead in London its just another White Power Symbol of a Grotesque kind and is Horrible so my title for Kenwood house is The House That dripped blood just like this ship owners house museum and there are thousands of these places where African people May not be not be aware of the his-story of these places for which we really should Never Enter...

In the heart of Le Havre, a city known for its modern architectural wonders, stands the impressive Bibliotheque Oscar Niemeyer. This library is part of the Les Bains des Docks cultural complex and was designed by renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, famous for his innovative and organic designs. Originally created in 1982 by Niemeyer himself, it was transformed into a library in 2015.
An important architecture showcase of the city. It is eye-catching from a distance near the bassin. It is inviting inside, with a circular ground floor. Several of the children's section are decorated with an Arabian theme, so colorful.

It's ridiculous. How can a library be so beautiful? It's out of this world. It's lovely.

This ultra modern library stands in the sole center of Le Havre. It perfectly fits here, as the whole city is built in modern architecture after a total devastation in WWII. Of course, it's a work of art of the famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. The library is free to visit and has also several interesting art installations around it.

When exploring the vibrant city of Le Havre, a visit to Les Bains des Docks is an absolute must. This stunning aquatic center, designed by the renowned architect Jean Nouvel, boasts 12 pools that invite you to take a refreshing dip while enjoying its striking architecture. The center stands as a testament to modern design and offers a unique experience for both locals and visitors alike.
From my - Polish - perspective, incredibly affordable (you won't find any pool in Poland for 5 EUR/day in that standard. Staff very nice and helpful. You can even buy swimming equipment with an attractive price on spot.

I came from the cruise ship 🚢. What a great experience, hanging out with the locals. I couldn't find any reviews because this place just reopened, so I'll tell you everything you need to know. It is a community pool, and the entrance fee is only 5 euro. I paid 13 euro so I could access the "Zen" section which includes two saunas, a hamman (steam room), an adult swim area. I tried coming with swimming trunks but they don't allow those. You need speedos or those tight swim wear. okay, I respect that. So I headed down the block to Decathlon and bought the tiniest swimsuit I ever wore for 5 euro. All good, be like the locals. Just another heads up, they don't have towels, so you can bring a small gym towel from the cruise ship and you'll be good. They have free lockers. The gym area upstairs was closed, but it looked really nice. This is not your usual sauna spa experience, it's more of a family pool center with a separate area for adults to escape. Was fun! Outdoor pool was nice because it was a sunny day in October. Indoor pools is a series of waterways and paths of blue that compliment the architecture of the building.

Excellent. Ages 2 to 70+ all enjoyed our trip. Very smart and clean, lots of different areas to suit all. Great value at €5 each. Highly recommend.

Today I visited the place with my underage kids. It looks nice, but as soon as we entered the atmosphere turned off, everyone seemed to stare as if we didn’t belong. The rules felt odd, especially the requirement to wear a special-material swimsuit after only 10mn of my kids swimming which didn’t make sense since my kids were already wearing a Speedo-style swim shorts they use at their swimming club in Tampa(FL). Overall, it’s disappointing; appealing on the surface but the welcome and the attitude left a bad impression. Just a weird and snobish atmosphere. PS: God bless the USA for real this time 🇺🇸
Mestawot T — Google review
The most comical institution ever!! First you can’t enter most areas without paying extra and then it’s prohibited for children - that’s why you mostly see old people there. Then the fashion police there don’t like you to wear swimwear that is NORMAL in 99% of the world!!! No you have to wear a geriatric nut chafing strap tight to conform to their pathetic rules. Even staff there trying to explain it to us were laughing about it!!! But front desk didn’t even have the maturity and decency to refund the money we paid to NOT be able to swim. What a joke you guys are 🤡 And before you react with your standard blabla, my swimwear that is perfectly hygienic all over the rest of the world is made from 100% polyester!!!
St V — Google review
Nice experience in Le Havre. Before going, we read the comments here and some are correct but not all. For example : guys DO need a speedo type swimming slip, shorts are not allowed. Long hair is not a problem. If you buy a day ticket, you can't join the water gym class of the days. Showers have cold and warm water. Take shampoo along. Also hair driers are available. In overall, it's a nice building and a good swimming pool.
Do L — Google review
Best pool ever, totally change my mind about this type of architecture, good job JN
Leï L — Google review
Place was just renovated for 1 year and we were very excited. It looks nice but many things simply doesn't make any sense. The "cold" water after sauna is not really cold. The "hot" water is not at all. It should be 38-40 degrees which is optimal. The jacuzzi is super cold as well, you can't relax at all in it, you will be cold. Literally the only place you can feel comfortably warm and relaxed (like you want in a wellness) is the sauna, which is good. Great place with great potential, but room for lot of improvements which could be fixed so easily by the management if they listened to their customers 😊

(Translated by Google) Rouelle Park is a park where people can live. I recommend this park to have a picnic to have fun to relax to do the activities you want there is no one, no noise there is plenty of space to relax and listen to music or read or do whatever you want. In addition, it is not possible to have public fountains that allow you to drink for free. You can also walk your dog there. It's really a space dedicated to nature which allows you to recharge your batteries (what I find stupid is to see the police driving in the middle of the park) in short, I recommend this park.

City Hall of Le Havre is a must-visit, offering stunning views from its 17th-floor tower over the city and out to the sea. The Perret-designed building stands in Place de l'Hotel de Ville, surrounded by green spaces and beautiful walkways. Despite being heavily destroyed during World War II, Le Havre was rebuilt with inspiration from its old plans. A visit here provides a glimpse into the city's history and architectural resilience.
It's a beautiful place with many fountains and interesting sculptures. If you ever visit it make sure to check out the timescope machine in front of the tramway stop, it will allow you to see in 3D how the city was in the past, there are 2 years that you can check, one before the world war where the city got completely destroyed and one after it. It's a unique experience.

The hall itself is not the most beautiful of buildings. However the gardens, plaza, statues, and other amazing things around it more than make up for it and are well worth wandering around regardless of the time of year.

The City Hall square is one of the central places worth visiting in Le Havre, and that's just because of the gardens. The Jardins are really beautiful, spread around the square with fountains around, very pleasant to walk through. However, the huge concrete City Hall, reminding on some East Germany railway station totally spoils the impression and therefore I rate it 3 stars

Restaurant
La Taverne Paillette is a historic brasserie in Le Havre, dating back to 1596 and named after an old brewer who had his factories nearby. This lively restaurant is known for its seafood, sauerkraut dishes, and home-brewed beer. The Paillette beer has made a comeback after disappearing for some time and is now flowing again.
My second time eating here as I love the food here. The wine I had this time was amazing so did the dishes. The snail dish was very tasty and the mussels were delicious. We loved all the dishes and loved the dessert as well. They have their own craft beer which is very tasty. The love the vibe of the waiters and I would like to recommend you to book in advance as they can get really crowded during dinner time . I promise that worth giving your time and money.

Food and services were excellent. We had to dine twice in a row during out 3-day visits. You may need to call and make reservations to be safe, but coming late dinner time, staff were friendly to accept walk-ins. Very busy restaurants clearly for a reason! Would highly recommend.

As a seaman, I've been to thousands of places around the world. But Le Havre Taverne Paillette stays strong in my heart. Excellent food, positive personal, historic building. So, what can I really say more? When my vessel visits beautiful Le Havre port on 6thofJanuary, I rushed the opportunity to be in taverrne. And always try to bring some of my crew there. Our deck cadet tasted oysters for the first time in his life. And the experience was far positive!!! The third officer got mad on snails and crabs. And I personally enjoyed all the food and positive gastronomic reactions of my guys. The price, the bill.........Who really cares about that, when you explode with pleasure. Thank you so much for that one peace of joy in our hard seamen life.

We were visiting the city for just one day and wanted to try this restaurant — it looked popular and the seafood dishes caught our eye. When we arrived, the dining room was almost empty, yet we were told that all tables were reserved and they couldn’t seat us. Apparently, reservations have to be made at least a day in advance. Unfortunately, that meant no dinner and a spoiled evening. Disappointing experience, especially for out-of-town visitors. It would be nice if the staff showed a bit more flexibility in cases like this.

Our server, was attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for its delicious food, great ambiance, and outstanding service! Can't wait to return!

I reserved here based on reviews here at Google maps but also from Internet blogs (in French). And it was worth it! The restaurant seems big but tables for 2 persons are spread out over the (covered) terrace. Inside is room for groups, so there's not an awful lot of noise from these. We sat next to the window, nice view on the street. We took a menu with as starter oysters for my wife and escargots bourguignonne (snails) for me. Copious portions! For main course my wife had fish, I took an Alsatian plate - you can't be hungry after this. Very good! Crème brûlé as dessert to fill up some tiny gaps... This was a very nice experience!

Le Grignot in Le Havre offers an exceptional seafood dining experience. The wine selection is delicious, and the staff provide excellent recommendations to complement your meal. The plat fish is particularly noteworthy, boasting an amazing taste that highlights the restaurant's culinary expertise. Highly recommended for seafood lovers seeking a memorable meal.
Lina B — Google review
I had a bad experience at Le Grignot restaurant during my recent trip to Le Harve. Although the restaurant is quite famous and crowded, my experience was very bad. The service staff is not friendly, even though the price is not cheap. We were constantly asked "are you finished eating?" when they saw us stop eating and talking. it's worth mentioning that we were the only ones asked, maybe we were racially discriminated against because we were the only two Asians at the restaurant at that time. The other French/French speaking tables were not rushed at all and were very comfortable talking while eating. We were asked 3 times, each time 5 minutes apart by the service staff with a rather unpleasant attitude. And in the end we had to finish the meal very quickly because we were so uncomfortable with the staff's dismissive attitude. This was my worst experience in France and I will never come back here.

We stopped in for lunch and sat outside in the terrace, we had the escargot and cheese platter both were OK we also had complimentary bread which was nice and a glass of wine each which was nothing spectacular for €7 a glass. The service was not great the person serving seemed quite rude and standoffish, not sure if this is because we were British tourists, there is also only one toilet which is in the main restaurant. Wouldn't go back here and would not recommend it to anyone.

Nice restaurant that allowed us to spend a nice evening, very nice entrée as well as the rest of the dinner. Service was not great, there was some confusion and delays in ordering and serving.

Comfortable place, atmosphere and decor. The steak and hake were alright, wasn't sure about the rice, seafood appetizer was lovely. Slow service in a busy restaurant, a bit short-staffed perhaps. All the tables around us were all eagerly waiting to speak with someone.
Foodprints — Google review
From the outside the restaurant looks impressive, but once inside and the meal arrives, you quickly realize you are in a fast food joint. The service is ‘quick in and out’.The food, well, I had the ‘bass with bean’ and my wife had the carbonara. If you like your green beans tasteless and mushy, then you have found heaven. The carbonara was drowning in sauce with mounds of salty bacon. It was supposed to have walnuts, but I feel not even CPR would bring these walnuts back from the depths of the sauce. That being said, the bottle of Sancerre was delicious! I would maintain a wide berth from this restaurant.

A Really attractive beach : the water was chilly mid August but the weather was sunny so everything was well balanced. It’s not a sand beach though there are pebbles and rocks so I highly recommend coming with crocs or beach shoes otherwise your feet will hurt. When the beach is low tide you can enjoy a clean sandy beach. In August it is very crowded though. Right behind the beach there are some arcade games and carousel rides for the kids as well as ice cream and snack trucks.

As a tourist visiting Le Havre, I found the city to be a fascinating blend of history and modernism, marked by its unique architecture and striking seaside setting. The UNESCO World Heritage recognition of its city center is well-deserved; the post-war architecture by Auguste Perret is both innovative and imposing, giving the city a distinct character unlike any other in France. Strolling along the expansive pebble beaches and the promenade was a delightful experience, offering beautiful views of the English Channel. The Musée d'art moderne André Malraux (MuMa) was a highlight, showcasing an impressive collection of impressionist artworks that rival those in Paris. The Saint-Joseph Church, with its towering silhouette and mesmerizing stained glass, was breathtaking, providing not only a spiritual refuge but also a testament to innovative post-war reconstruction. Dining in Le Havre was a pleasure, with the local cuisine heavily featuring delicious seafood options, fresh from the nearby waters. Overall, Le Havre offers a unique and enriching experience for visitors seeking a combination of cultural history, architectural innovation, and scenic beauty.

This beach has evolved nicely over the years, there seems to be something new to see / experience every year. It's so close to the town centre, there are many cafe's, restaurants and bars in the vicinity. Along the strip there are many eateries, all catering typically French meals or desserts at a reasonably price. There are play areas, a open air pool, skate park and small amusements to entertain the kids. For the most part, it is a pebble beach, however there is a small sandy section toward the end of the strip. The beach comes alive during the summer, atmosphere is vibrant in the evening. Recommended to visit if passing through Me Havre.

The beaches of Le Havre stretch along the city's western part, right by the center. There's a huge free parking lot along it. I found it a very pleasant place to walk, have a drink and take some photos, but I doubt I'd swim there even in peak summer season. The beach is of huge pebbles, difficult to walk on, I saw no sand by the sea.

Beautiful. We stayed just outside Le Havre, using it as a base to travel around Western Normandy (Etretat, Mont Saint Michel, etc.). We decided to have a look at what the Le Havre beach had to offer and were extremely and pleasantly surprised. Part of the width of the beach is rocky, which gives it a beautiful look, but once passing the rocks there is a massive sandy area and a seemingly calm ocean. A really nice spot to end the day and watch the sunset.

So many interesting things about this mall... Let's start off with the obvious, right in the front of the mall... a knockoff of Bob's Big Boy, complete with a mascot that looks *kinda* like Bob... Thr KFC there boasts French exclusive items and offers unique crispy chicken wraps... There's a huge (and fairly bougie) interior fitness center that has impressive architectural qualities... see the video of the inside... lots of stores, and a nice canal to walk up and down out front, that parallels the mall buildings...

The Natural History Museum in Le Havre is a cultural institution housed in a 19th-century building. It features temporary themed exhibits and events related to natural history. The museum offers a rich collection of fossils, meteorites, and insects, as well as engaging visual displays. While the museum primarily presents information in French, it provides learning activities for children and occasionally offers exhibitions on topics like bees.
We had a great time at this beautiful museum with our three kids (aged 6, 5 and 3). I personally loved the photos by Sabine Bernert. Really nice materials for children in every room and live bees upstairs. A great experience.

A cute museum for a rainy day. Good option for families with little kids. All in French but they give you a booklet with the English version.
Do L — Google review
While staffed with very kind and helpful personnel, and in possession of interesting holdings, this is a very small museum. So tiny, in fact, that, as I understand it, instead of reserving part of their premises for their fixed collection and setting aside another for temporary exhibits, the museum only works on rotating temporary exhibits (personally, I think their two-story circular room could've been reserved for a small permanent exhibit). When planning your visit, it's therefore important to check what's currently on display, so that you don't get disappointed by a lack of that which you came there for (as we were). Moreover, the museum doesn't seem to strictly restrict itself of items of natural historical interest, encompassing, for example, many more historical documents and paintings as well as ethnographic artefacts then biological, geological or palaeontological specimens in their Australian exhibit - which was what turned out to be on display when we visited. This is a pity, as while we were expecting a museum of natural history (in which the region, moreover, is so rich), we actually ended up visiting a historical museum that not only described the (history of the) description of Australia's plant and animal life, but also the discovery of Australia itself. The only redeeming part of the exhibit, as far as our four-year-old son was concerned, was a single room which contained some basic educational activities for children - such as fishing fish from the sea in a model boat, pinpointing places on a world map, and completing the outline of Australia. All in all, we did spend some time here, but I think neither me nor my son were too enthusiastic about the experience - and this while from the website it seems the museum has a lot more to offer than we got to experience.

Cool to see local museum. Visit will be quick and 5€ is a good price. All description is in French so use the translate app to read it. I wish the wifi was free to use to make the app worth using but that was not the case. Plan ahead if you think the French descriptions are a deal breaker.
Daniel M — Google review
Kind of small museum but there are sometimes some exhibitions like the one we saw which were about bees and those are more engaging. Unfortunately, the museum is only in french( somebody commented that there might be some booklets in english but we didn’t know/think to ask for them). It might help to add english next to the photos. Either way, this museum is especially entertaining for children because it offers many engaging and learning activities for them.

Maisons Satie, also known as the Satie House and Museum, is a dedicated space showcasing the life and work of the renowned French composer and pianist Erik Satie. Situated in his birthplace, this museum opened its doors in 1998 to offer an interactive journey through various rooms depicting the musician's life using audio guides. The museum comprises three houses that have been renovated to provide an immersive experience.
A really cute small museum/ experience centre. It was really interesting learning about Satie. My small children (4 and 6 ) also really enjoyed it, it's a creative experience.
Nien ( — Google review
More of an experience than a museum, but definitely an interesting experience. Wear the receiver around your neck, plug in your earbuds, and stop moving whenever you hear music or words. Each room, sometimes multiple locations in the room, or even objects in the room will trigger a Satie commentary, an appropriate Satie musical clip, or both. It is by turns serious, whimsical, surreal, or macabre. I learned that Satie did waltzes, marches, and operas as well as the more familiar and contemplative pieces. Mostly, though, I was just entertained.
Delmer H — Google review
This museum is a very interesting and artistic mix between modern art, contemporary art, original historic pieces (like documents, letters and objects), music and only lastly: information. It is like walking through a scrapbook of the thoughts and works of the composer. Artists did a good job capturing the personality of the eccentric, maverick and influential artist Erik Satie in the museum's strange visuals, its off-beat presentation and historical facts and artifacts in a very unconventional way. The visitor is shown and told (partly using a clever audio guide system that activates when pointing at something) fragments of the lifetime of the composer while walking through a surreal set of chambers, each filled with all sorts of art, original pieces and of course: Satie's music. Some highlights are: a peculiar collection of umbrellas and unopened letters, a room with a host of original manuscripts and artifacts (presented on thin sticks in the middle of a room), a strange merry-go-round contraption that visitors need to physically activate themselves to "encircle the music") and a player piano that plays Satie's three Gnossienes in a minimalistic empty room. This having been a 'regular' museum would not have done the composer justice, and the artists who created this Maisons Satie museum did an excellent job. It would do the visitor a world of good though, to first look up some information on the life and works of Erik Satie to fully understand the atmosphere of this place, as 'explanation' does not seem to have been the main purpose.

Very different museum. The entrance door is very stiff and you need to push down very hard on the handle to get in , tbh we were at the point of giving up when someone opened the door from the inside. We booked a bus called Bee le harve which took us from Le Harve to Honfluer for 19 Euros return, an excellent service and so much cheaper than MSC cruise prices. Some of the automation was not working so we were offered a half price entry. Honfluer is the most beautiful town we have ever visited in France. Wonderful medieval building as is this museum. Many shops museums etc close for lunch 12-2 ish

Simon S — Google review
Interactive exhibition design brings incredibly fun, yet not convincing in elaborating the theme, connection between music and emotions. Nevertheless, it's Satie, it's music, it's beautiful.
M.H.P. — Google review
Maisons Satie was a great place. Enchanting, and a little absurd, we felt like we experienced the world of Satie in his own home in Hanfleur. My only remark would be that there is no introduction to Satie and his musical background, my friend did not know him and I had to explain the musical time, his ideas (musique d'ameublement) and who were his "successors" what were figured in the museum (le groupe des six). I don't think I learnt many things either which was a shame. All in all: a great experience, but not really a museum per say!

No public transport at all now. Neither to nor from the ferry terminal from anywhere. The Brittany Ferries website talks about the C4 service to the railway station from the St François stop “near the terminal”. The word “near” is being used in a sense with which I was hitherto unaccustomed as the bus stop is more than half a mile away along poor pavements - and much of the way to the railway station (although in a different direction). Very nice hotel with a small casino but has everything you need if you like to play. There is a huge slots selection and only 1 Black Jack table. 1 Roulette and couple of other card tables.

Alessio Risso, the director of the hotel, was very professional, and although we made the mistake of booking 3 nights, even though we meant to stay for one, he graciously refunded our Expedia reservation.

It’s a very value for money place. They have everything inside from food to gym to spa & treatment. The location is also very good, just in front of the bridge of la havre which looks like extremely beautiful and specially during night (if you have window facing the bridge). The brasserie also is good, with a nice view to the bridge. And having casino at this price is also good. It’s not very far from the gare also (15 min by walk). Tram connects well to la plage also (tram stop just 5 mins walk from hotel). The staff were also friendly. The only improvement feedback is that they should focus on customer intimacy and services.. It’s really clean in general but it’s not a extremely new property so you can see the difference.

A really nice hotel. Very friendly personel. Room was very comfortable. Only con was the lights from outside who shine on the building during the night. If you wake up, you think for a second that is daylight. Curtains are blackout curtains. This place has a casino, buffet breakfast, bistro, spa, pool and private parking. If the parking is full, you can park at the spots on the street, which is free between 17:00 and 09:00, and Sundays. The front side of the hotel views the water and bridge. The breakfast contains fresh juices, pancakes, different kinds of bread, fruit, yoghurt, coffee/tea. In my opinion, it is not a place for kids.

Location was off-centre, but perfect for out client visit. Nice neighbourhood with plenty of restaurants and cafés (unfortunately most weer closed on a monday night). The rooms were clean, specious, and I had a nice view on part of the city. Breakfast was limited in choice, but good in quality (€17). I did not use any of the (nice-looking) facilities, which include spa, gym, bar, bistro, and casino.
Sven H — Google review
The room is very nice, the view of the canal is very pretty. The only problem we had was the shower head was leaking from the side which was a little annoying. The "AC" was a classic European "AC" the window does open so that was a life safer. But still hot
Phillip L — Google review
I spent a nice time there, the spa especially was really nice. But in the breakfast room, there were birds eating part of the pastries that were given to customers after. I have seen it multiple times on 3 different days. Seems dirty and dangerous.

Museum Hotel Dubocage Belville is a significant cultural establishment situated in Le Havre, France. Housed in a historic 17th-century mansion, the museum offers a unique and immersive experience for visitors. It provides rich documentation and free access to other museums in Le Havre, Rouen, and Paris with its tickets. The museum also hosts musical performances by the conservatory's cello ensemble.
The miracle survived an ancient French medieval estate after WWII. The former owner, Capitan Dubocage, an essential person in French maritime history, was a pioneer who travelled to Asia. The very rare two made-in-China figures of him remain kept in the museum. It also shows the importance of the harbour city of Le Havre since old times. The entrance is free. Please do donate a bit or buying souvenirs to support them. You can continue your trip to Honfleur and have a nice dinner there.

Sculpture
Catena Containers Vincent Ganivet is a striking sculpture consisting of 21 containers, designed by the talented French artist Vincent Ganivet to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Le Havre. The vibrant colors and its location at the convergence of the port and downtown Perret make it an iconic landmark often likened to Le Havre's version of the Eiffel Tower. This captivating installation has become a popular spot for visitors, with many capturing its beauty on Instagram.
Le Havre takes a lot of pride in being a metropolitan port city and this container statue is set in the perfect location to take a picture with the bustling port in the background. I am glad I visited this last because it had more meaning for me after seeing the rest of the city.

A both cool and 'insolitus' example of contemporary art, made of repurposed truck containers. The the ingenious art installation "Catène de containers" on the city's beachfront promenade consisted of several sets of truck containers welded together in the shape of an arch. From a distance, the 2017 creation of French architect Vincet Ganvine resembles a Lego block construction, but up close they made an original background for your photos.

(Translated by Google) This review concerns the playground. We have been coming for several years. The games that were deteriorating have been renovated and expanded with a "ninja zone" area. The spaces were clean. Regarding the "ninja zone", unfortunately it is already damaged (two half bouncy balls are missing at the end of the course). I think that some customers are not being civil and do not respect the work done. My children had fun there and let off steam. The snack offer for €3 is interesting. However, the entrance fee remains a little too expensive compared to the playgrounds in the city. The welcome is pleasant. And everything is well maintained. I encourage you to keep the place clean and the structures in good condition. It is a bittersweet sight to witness a fraction of FRANCE, once again docked at its port of origin. The return of Nez du bateau le France evokes feelings of joy and nostalgia, as we are reminded of the grandeur that once encompassed this iconic vessel. However, it is disheartening to observe that only remnants remain as a testament to the glory days of FRANCE.
(Translated by Google) The nose itself is a very moving memory of the liner France. It's well done because you can see it very close, touch it and walk around it. On the other hand, what a shame to have put it in this location! It deserves at least a more central place in Le Havre (facing the sea of course) with a museum dedicated to the liner. Despite everything, I give 5 stars because you absolutely must go see this little piece of our maritime history, the remains of the liner which was, during its years of service under the tricolor flag, a true French symbol. How sad to have sold this liner, and to have abandoned it once again by letting it leave in 2007 in the hands of scrap dealers...

(Translated by Google) My cruise ship is moored at the Quai Pierre Callet, and I have an excursion day in Le Havre ahead of me. Before I can walk into the city, I see Av. Lucien Corbeaux a special object. It appears to be the point of the bow of the old French ocean liner 'SS France', which was the flagship of French Line from 1961 to 1974. He made transatlantic crossings, world and cruise voyages. The ship was built in France and, at 316 meters in length, was the longest passenger ship ever built at the time. In 1974 the ship was sold to Norway as a cruise ship, and was eventually scrapped in 2008. The bow tip was preserved and put on display in Paris. The city of Le Havre purchased this object at auction, to honor the ship's home port! So nice to see, and I can already see myself waving at that point, like Leonardo di Caprio and Kate Winslet did in the film Titanic! Let's take a look, then move on - there must be more interesting things to see in the city!

(Translated by Google) A very touching and emotional moment upon approaching the "tip" of France's bow... If you close your eyes for a moment, your hand resting flat on this piece of hull, on this prow laden with history, records, and hundreds of transatlantic crossings, you might hear the sirens wailing again, in the illusion that it's still sailing. France, from the name of the country where it was born, of which it was the pride and honor. France, whose elegant silhouette still sails the ocean of our minds. France, a pure masterpiece of naval architecture, France and its avant-garde technology, France, which, decades after its launch, still touches the hearts of human beings. France, which in dreams still seems to sail the seas of the globe, France, undaunted by the elements. A liner with a legendary wake, a sleek and elegant bow, an exquisite hull and a Normandy heritage, funnels now belonging to the entire history of the 1960s, France still touches the deepest depths, even reduced to what remains of it. France still cruises in the mind, in the imagination, in the ink that now glides across paper when we write about it, under the brush of the artist who still paints it today on the canvas of his imagination. Somewhere, France, with its immense black hull and vermillion red funnels, continues to sail, we believe it is still on the ocean... Touching the hull of France, immersed in dreams, still transmits the magnetism that this sublime liner has the gift of offering to those who love it. What a shame, a huge one, not to have been able to repurchase this work before it was too late. What a shame that they weren't able to imagine new projects for him, a floating hotel, a cultural center, like the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Many regrets... For everything, ... thank you, France. Finally, a word to the town hall of Le Havre, because this element of the Hull of France should be exhibited in front of the maritime museum, facing the waterfront, and given greater prominence, as it is an essential element of our maritime history, and much more...
