The Mevlana Museum, also known as the Mausoleum of Rumi, is a significant tourist attraction in Konya. It houses the tomb of the revered Sufi mystic Rumi and features a museum displaying various artifacts from his life and era. Visitors can explore ancient manuscripts, hand-written copies of the Quran, musical instruments from Rumi's time, and art pieces dating back to the Seljuk era.
Unfortunately, the museum was closed when I visited, but even from the outside it was absolutely worth it. The turquoise dome, the Seljuk-Ottoman design, and the calm atmosphere around the place are breathtaking. You can really feel the spiritual energy here, and just sitting outside was peaceful. A must-visit in Konya and 5 stars without a doubt!

One of the high point of my trip to Turkey. Honoring the Sufi religion and Rumi at the Mevlana Museum and Mosque. Cleansing in the water of life after visiting Rumi's burial site. The Mevlana Jalaluddin-i Rumi Mosque is magnificent. Sufism is a mystic body of religious practice found within Islam which is characterized by a focus on Islamic purification, spirituality, ritualism. Although Sufis were opposed to dry legalism, they strictly observed Islamic law and belonged to various schools of Islamic jurisprudence and theology. A day never to be forgotten .
Betsy Y — Google review
One of Turkey’s most iconic and spiritual sites. This is the resting place of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, the famous Sufi poet and mystic. The museum preserves manuscripts, ceremonial garments and artifacts from the Whirling Dervishes, while the turquoise conical dome makes the building instantly recognizable. A deeply meaningful and historic place absolutely worth a visit.
Patrizia P — Google review
Here lies one of the biggest inspirational poets of all time whose thoughts have enlightened the many souls. The museum is inside the complex, which houses Rumi's tomb. You get to learn about the life of disciples during the life of Rumi and the way things worked in 13th century.
Reza N — Google review
This place is a huge deal for those who have enjoyed Rumi’s poems and deep thoughts at least once. It is free and no need to buy tickets. It is divided into doors (babs) and separate parts to roam around like the main museum, tombs, and poems and photos. No recording with flash but normal one is ok. Those who know persian can also read the scripts and poems that are everywhere. The garden part is also enjoyable for sitting or drinking coffee.
Nesa M — Google review
Beautiful museum where Rumi taught his views and received his mentor Shams. The museum holds Rumi's tomb and the history of Mevlevi Order. Do not get intimidated by the massive amount of people there. If you read Rumi and follow him, whatever your religion is, find a place to sit near his tomb, close your eyes and meditate.
Juliana G — Google review
Beautiful! Great place to learn about Rumi and the Sufi religion. It was pretty crowded, but you could move through at your own pace. Great place for people interested in history.

The Konya Archeological Museum is a must-visit attraction in Konya, drawing visitors from around the world with its fascinating exhibits that showcase the country's significant history. The museum features artifacts dating back to prehistoric and BC ages, as well as exhibits from the Middle Ages and unique art artifacts.
I've been to some of the biggest archeological museums in the world, and this little museum has a more impressing collection than some of them. The Hercules Sarcophagus is worth a visit all by its self. Oh and it's free
Mica S — Google review
Wonderful museum! Not too big but they have really interesting items I've never seen before. There could be a bit more explanation in English but if you're interested in history and ancient things you should definitely not miss it. Also, it's free! (Keep in mind that they don't have a toilet.)
Suzie P — Google review
Small, amazing, super fascinating old museum with extraordinary relics from Greek-Roman times and especially from the nearby Neolithic towns. To be visited! It’s free!
Enriko T — Google review
Such a nice museum to visit and it’s totally free. Felt in love with the frontyard and the ruins especially the one for poseidon. It is central and easy to eccess.
Nesa M — Google review
Small museum with great exhibits, specially the sarcophagus. The Hercules Sarcophagus describing the 12 works that Hercules did is incredible. You can see also different styles (for example if it has columns in the corners of the sarcophagus). There is not much infornation on some of the exhibits though. Free entry.
JR S — Google review
Worth the time to wander and see study what this little 💎 of a museum (free entry btw!) has to offer—some 9000 years of history! The 12 deeds of Heracles sarcophagus is gorgeous as well as the collection of lion sculptures outside and some of the Catalhoyuk finds as well!

It's a small but free archaeological museum that is worth visiting. It contains exhibits from local prehistoric settlements and Roman Empire. I was surprised to see a Sarcophagus of Heraclees here.

The Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is a captivating destination featuring exotic plants, butterflies, and an insect museum. Situated adjacent to the Selcuklu Flower Garden and the Adventure Tower, this expansive urban park boasts a butterfly-shaped building with a glass roof covering 7,600 square meters.
When you enter, hundreds of butterflies silently greet you by clapping their hands. The humid and warm atmosphere, adorned with tropical plants, embraces you with all its presence. As you travel in this unique world, butterflies fly around you like moths, if one lands on your outstretched finger, our happiness will pass through the glass and reach the sky. I hope you will see it if you go to Konya in the spring.
Ali P — Google review
The Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is straight-up like walking into a living watercolor painting. The second you step inside, you’re hit with warm, earthy air, layers of green everywhere, and butterflies just casually floating past like they own the place. It’s humid (like South Asian Summer humid), so definitely dress light and bring water, your skin will glow like never before in what feels like a tropical escape right in the middle of Konya. The glass dome itself? Stunning. It lets in soft natural light that bounces off vibrant wings and tropical leaves, perfect for photos but also just super calming to look at. They’ve recreated a whole ecosystem inside, with 40+ butterfly species from across the world flying freely around you. If you stand still long enough, one might even land on you! I literally held my breath hoping it would but that didn’t happen, one did land on my friend though! What I loved most is how clean and thoughtfully designed everything is. You don’t just walk through and take pictures , there are signs explaining butterfly lifecycles, and you can actually see some emerging from cocoons. It’s peaceful, quiet, and kind of magical. Whether you’re going with friends, solo, or on a soft-date vibe, it’s 100% worth the visit. Staff are friendly, tickets are affordable, and the whole experience is unforgettable.

Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is a magical place. The atmosphere is calm and full of color with natural sounds. Hundreds of butterflies flying freely make you feel close to nature. A must-visit place in Konya — peaceful, clean, and perfect for photos and childer

You MUST go to this place. You will see a lot of beautiful flowers, very many different types and vibrant colourful butterflies. The entry fee is cheep too. Inside is a little bit humid and hot but shouldn't bother you too much. I absolutely loved it.
RealLord P — Google review
The tropical butterfly garden is great place to visit with your children. You need at least 45 to 60 minutes to make sure your child can read and learn about butterflies and other bugs. They ask you if you want a photo at the entrance but finally they sell it to you, they should have told us that it wasn't free.

Alaaddin Hill Park in Konya is a serene and historic site, offering a perfect spot for picnics with its walking paths, benches, gardens, and trees. The park was built by the Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat and now serves as a peaceful green space in the heart of the city. Visitors can explore the Alaaddin Mosque and remnants of an old palace while enjoying the lush surroundings.
This is a very calm and green park a little to the north from downtown Konya. The place is not very crowded in the early hours of the afternoon and you can stroll along the green paths, as well as to get to know the examples of Seljuk architecture, like a mosque and what remain of a palace in the park.

The park is at the centre of the Konya. 10-20 yrs old people hang up here. Many couples and students play! Alaaddin mosque is elegant and beautiful! You should visit here! Love the atmosphere and energy of this park

A hill and a park to enjoy view when there is no renovation around as barriers block the view. There are many spots to rest, take photo, places and buildings to enjoy their architecture especially the mosque, and the famous water fountain. Kafem brand belongs to the municipality where serves moderate prices items.

Karatay Madrasa, built in 1251 by Emir Celaleddin Karatay, is a significant monument of the Anatolian Seljuk era. It has been transformed into a museum showcasing exquisite tile art and archaeological artifacts. Originally serving as a school, it was funded by nobles and the Wakf for free education until its abolition in 1924.
Great museum about Seljuks. It was really inspiring to see the Shamanic and Persian influence on the most important pre-Ottoman Anatolian Turks, through the artistic tiles of the 13th centuries exhibited in the museum.
Dogan S — Google review
💎 this madrasa ended up being my favorite place in Konya (love Konya in general!). The colors and beauty of the tiled dome space really touched me—the city of Konya did a great service to humanity restoring this old place of knowledge.
Heather S — Google review
Very nice place, very friendly people, we were expressed with the show and the exhibition.
Zakari — Google review
Small museum but packed with lots of history, stone markings and tiles master pieces. Love the interior of the museum.
Hassan G — Google review
An amazing madrasa showcasing ancient tiles in an atmospheric location. The interior of the madrasa still has many of the original tiles. Also 800 year old fragments from Konya castle.
Will D — Google review
It is a good example of Seljuk architecture and a center of Seljuk science. It is a beautiful work that has mostly survived with its dome, interiors and decorations. During its active period, it was at the forefront of teaching astronomy and similar scientific courses. It is a beautiful madrasah that should be seen in Konya, I recommend it.
Hamza D — Google review
Beautiful museum in an old madrasa. The tile work in the building is amazing. There are some displays with artefacts, especially Selçuk tiles. Touristic admission was 60tl in December 2024
N M — Google review
It was an okay place to visit. It is a shrine and a tomb for historical religious figures and there are some artifacts around the place. I especially liked the carving on the outside of the main door as well as the inside of the dome. Other than that is it pretty cheap ( i think 20 liras) and i was alone there.

Iplikci Mosque, an ancient mosque dating back to the 13th century, underwent restoration around 50 years ago and continues to be a place of worship. It stands as a remarkable example of Seljuk architecture in Konya, conveniently situated between the city center and the Mevlana Museum. The mosque is one of the oldest in Turkey, built during the time of the Seljuks who introduced Turkic culture and Islam to Anatolia.
One of the oldest mosques in the country built by the Seljuks. The Seljuks brought Turkic culture and Islam into Anatolia. The architecture is very rectilinear, dignified, imposing and imperious and this mosque is a good example.
JR S — Google review
This mosque is one of the earliest examples of Seljuk architecture. The date of the construction is estimated to be the very early years of the 13th century. The mosque has gone through renovations throughout the centuries but has kept its original design. This is an ideal piece to study the beginnings of Seljuk architecture. The mosque still functions as a place of worship and should be respected as such.
Reza N — Google review
Amazing that a mosque could be built to look so much like a warehouse. Interior is certain nicer though. Compared to most of what the Seljuks were building during the 1200's this is a bit disappointing. Many of Konyas great monuments were built arou d this time. Looks to be heavily restored though so perhaps the exterior was once more ornate.
Jash R — Google review
An unusual, plain building for a mosque. Only the single minaret is identifiable. Built in 1201 it’s has many columns inside so lacks the spacious, open feeling in domed mosques. It’s was also dimly lit inside.

Try the şadırvan (fountain) which has some acoustic easter eggs. Go there with a friend and surprise them by whispering to them accross the fountain. The dome is designed in a way that it transfers voice from a column to the opposite column.

The garden was opened under the patronage of the Japanese Consulate under the auspices of the cultural exchange with the Republic of Turkey. Admission is free, there are parking lots, cafes and toilets. It is open even on official holidays.

This park was built in 2010 with the architecture of the Japanese gardens as Konya and Kyoto became sister cities. The park is designed in a very nice form and you can relax there while enjoying the setting.

I was on my way from antalya to ankara, and it was a great opportunity to visit this place. I loved how quiet and beautiful it is. Food and drinks are highly recommended, too. Maybe one negative comment, which is the lake water, needs to be cleaned. The wonderful fish they have there can be shown so much better then this
Ahmed G — Google review
Nice thematic park ! Food was timid, but there was no English description and spice indicator. The dessert was so and so.
Nikol Z — Google review
It is a lovely place for a walk, picnic and general chill. Many families were here eating in the many Japanese style wooden huts, and there is also a restaurant/cafe. We went to the Cafe, and I must admit the noodles and salad we ordered were pretty average for Turkish restaurant standards, so honestly I wished we brought food with us. The desert at the restaurant looked good though. Either way, the park itself is fantastic and it's free to access. The public toilets weren't the greatest though. But I am still giving it 5 stars as we had a lovely two hours here and it was very easily accessible by tram.

The Stone Works Museum of Fine Minaret is a must-visit destination in Konya, housed in a historically significant 13th-century building. It offers an enriching experience filled with art and culture, showcasing a diverse collection of contemporary art pieces as well as galleries dating back to the Middle Ages. The museum's highlight is its renowned minaret made of tiles, which has attracted visitors since its completion in 1264.
If you like fine arts and love architecture it is a must to see these fine stone carvings survived many hundreds of years until now. This building used to be an university where education and living was free for every student. Payed by the foundation where they were also work in administrative positions. Getting experienced in work as well while studying. It is interesting to know that the Selçuklu Empire had carvings of fantastic figures such as sirens, double headed eagles, phoenix and angels as well as hunting and animal figures. They took over a big part of the Eastern Roman Empire and developed.

Although it is pretty similar to the other madrasa north of alaaddin park, and the other one has more artifacts to admire, i give this one a higher rating because of the impressive architecture on the outside of the archway at the entrance door and the mineret next to it. Other than that, it is mainly just stones inside. The entrance is 20 lira so you can always check it out.

October 2023 The Mosque was closed on the day we visited and looked like it's been closed for a while. The carvings on the entrance are beautifully intricate. We stared at it for a good 10 minutes to take in the beauty. Accompanying minaret was strangely right next to the entrance. Mosque is adjacent to Kulture Park which is surrounded by hundreds of shops, restaurants, cafés. A very pleasant walk.

It was a very fun experience for me to be honest. there was a lot of exhibitions for science branches all over the place. it's a must go place in my opinion. It's mainly a place made for children at core but adults or the teens can enjoy it too. 10/10 would go again if they add more stuff.

I absolutely loved it. I took my kids there 3 days in a row while I was visiting konya. They had so much to see and do. I love the little workshops they have for kids where they sit in laboratories like scientists and adults help them make projects. They have great moon jump experience. The price is absolutely great just 7 tl per adult and 5tl per child over 3 years old.

The Mevlana Cultural Center in Konya offers Saturday evening Whirling Dervish ceremonies year-round, providing an opportunity to witness this mesmerizing Sufi tradition. The center's auditorium with amphitheater-like seating hosts nightly performances, attracting tourists and enthusiasts alike. While some may have reservations about the authenticity of the experience, the center remains a popular destination for those seeking to immerse themselves in Rumi's legacy.
The sema ceremony here is beautiful and spiritual and not to be missed. My only recommendation is that, if you don't speak Turkish, read about the ceremony ahead of time so you understand the symbolism, as the introduction is made only in Turkish. I highly recommend staying in Konya on a Saturday night so you can attend!
A J — Google review
The Sufi dance performance was a breathtaking blend of spiritual depth and hypnotic grace. It felt like stepping into a living portal of peace, unplugged from chaos, connected to something ancient and sacred. The whirling dervishes moved in perfect harmony, not just with music, but with a rhythm of the soul. It wasn’t a performance, it was a prayer in motion. Deeply respectful of tradition, yet surprisingly moving for a modern heart, the experience left me grounded, grateful, and awed by the silent power of spiritual devotion expressed through movement.
Anusha R — Google review
Every Saturday at 7pm SEMA performance, now it costs 250TL each for the ticket. We came here to see the whirling dervishes perform. This was amazing value. The whirling dervishes performed for about an hour and were accompanied by live musicians singing and praying. There were about 40 dervishes which creates a stunning scene when they were all whirling simultaneously. You do have to have a lot of patience, though, as it takes a long time to commence and finish the performance as there are several very long silent and spoken/sung rituals included. We were surprised to see children also are among the dervishes. Flash- free photography and film is permitted.
Sean Y — Google review
Beautiful cultural center in Konya built in modern style. There is a cafeteria and a small shopping market for handmade konyan memories. The huge hall where they perform the Sama every Saturday at 7pm fits about 3.000 people. I didn't have to pay anything to attend it despite the other comments below. The ceremony does seem to be fit for tourists but still worth it. The problem are the tourists themselves, very disrespectful, talking and laughing during the whole time, cellphones ringing, flahes from photos all the time. Very disrespectful. Try to sit far from big groups of tourists.
Juliana G — Google review
Wonderful venue to watch Whirling Dervish Sema. On a Saturday at 7pm it's 300 TL per ticket. About an hour and half performance. Good facilities and craft shops . Sit opposite to the sheepskin rugs for best view.
Caroline C — Google review
The cultural centre in Konya is a place where you can see the Sema performance every Saturday evening at 7:00. The place is very well maintained, and the performance hall is huge, which can easily house all the viewers. There are some very interesting souvenir stores in the lower ground which can be visited after the Sema. Note that they are charging 250 liras per person. Though it may be argued that the price paid will be used to maintain the place, I am unsure how it fits with Mevlana's principles of detaching the self from worldly belongings. The performance used to be free for many years. Unfortunately, Turkish authorities have started monetising Mevlana, which is wrong on many grounds!
Reza N — Google review

This is a beautiful Seljuk era mosque with clearly unique architectural design that’s distinct from ottoman era mosques. Mosque’s arches resemble those of Cordoba mosque in Spain which has been turned into a church. This mosque houses tombs of many Seljuk sultans and princes

The Shams of Tabriz Mosque and Tomb is a significant site in Konya, Turkey, housing the tomb of the revered 12th-century poet and spiritual mentor of Rumi, Shams Tabrizi. Although Iranians believe that Shams' actual tomb is in Khoy, Iran, this mosque holds cultural value as a symbolic site. The unassuming small building exudes a wonderful atmosphere for meditation and reflection.

Small mosque where the tomb of Shams of Tabriz is supposed to be located. However, there are similar burial places claimed by other cities ( up to 5), including one Unesco World Heritage place in Iran. According to contemporary Sufi tradition, Shams mysteriously disappeared: some say he was killed by close disciples of Rumi who were jealous of the close relationship with Rumi but according to others, he left Konya.

Wonderful atmosphere, very nice to sit in a corner and meditate. We left because the evening prayer started, but came back the next day to meditate again. Karaaslan Hadimi Park is a sprawling green space covering 15,000 square meters, featuring ponds, pools, and orchards. It's perfect for a summer visit with amusement parks, children's play areas, and sports facilities like basketball and tennis courts. The park offers a refreshing escape from the city with fountains, picnic gazebos, and walking trails. Visitors can enjoy the cool summer days and access free drinking water from the provided fountains.
I visited Karaaslan Hadimi Park for the first time and it was a wonderful experience by all standards. From the moment I entered the park, I felt like I had entered a world of natural beauty. The lush green trees and colorful flowers scattered everywhere create an atmosphere of calm and serenity. The wide spaces and clean sidewalks make navigating the park easy and comfortable, whether you are walking or cycling. The facilities in the park are excellent and cater to the needs of all visitors. There are designated areas for children equipped with safe and entertaining games, making it an ideal destination for families. There are also many benches and seating areas spread throughout the park, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. In addition, the park contains a beautiful lake where you can rent rowing boats, which is a very enjoyable experience, especially on sunny days. The café in the park offers a variety of drinks and snacks at reasonable prices, and the outdoor seating overlooks the picturesque views that add to the enjoyment of the visit. Finally, I must praise the cleanliness of the park and its excellent maintenance. The staff work hard to maintain the beauty of the park and provide the best experience for visitors. Overall, my visit to King Abdullah Park was an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature.

Church
Hagia Eleni Church, constructed in 327 AD by Helena, the mother of a Byzantine Emperor, stands as a significant testament to the region's Christian heritage. Situated about 7 kilometers from Konya center, it draws Christian visitors and history enthusiasts alike. The well-preserved church features ongoing restoration efforts and boasts a beautiful garden with a serene blue-water fountain. Visitors can find parking, restrooms, and a security office at the garden level.
Whoa, bros! Just time-traveled to the totally righteous Hagia Eleni Church in Sille, Konya—built way back in the 4th century by Queen Helena herself, mother of Constantine the Great. Major historical vibes, dudes! You walk in and it’s like, bam! Icons, stone walls, and holy awesomeness everywhere. The place is most ancient and most excellent—stood strong through centuries of gnarly history and epic peace between Greeks and Turks.
Omar W — Google review
In this write-up, I will not talk about the historical aspects of this church. You can read about this on the internet. I will try here to shed light on a few areas that might be important to prospect visitors. I visited this church in December 2023. It is evident that this place has been well restored and works are still on-going. The garden in front of the church and its blue-water fountain are beautiful. There is a place to park your car. At garden’s level, there are toilets and a security office. I was welcomed in English and was told that the entry is free. The Church looks majestic from the outside. Although the structure of the church is sizeable, you are only allowed to access its main hall. Some of the hall internals still require further restoration works while some others are in a perfect shape. The restored small piano is impressive. There is a person there who will hand you some brochures about the church and Sille, and a very useful touristic map of Sille as well. I did not get the chance to open a discussion with him but, reading other reviews, it appears that he’s available to answer questions and give explanations if requested to do so. The church is worth visiting. If you can, spend a day in Sille and visit its numerous attractions including this church. General note about Sille: Sille, also known as Sille Subaşı and historically Sylata, is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Selçuklu, northwest of Konya. To describe it practically, it is a peaceful village trying to find itself a place on the tourist attraction map. It does have some historical landmarks but seems to have been neglected in the past. You can now notice a serious effort by its Municipality to give it a new look, restore what needs to be restored, organize the streets and shopping locations, beautify the general look etc., in what seems to be a move to make it an elegant tourist destination. The efforts are noticeable and are moving in the right direction. I did enjoy a full day there and wouldn’t hesitate to visit it again if I happen to be in Konya.
Muhammad K — Google review
Nice architecture and atmosphere. Just Interesting that there's a Muslim tour guide working in the church explaining the history to the visitors. Sometimes he's not sure about the traditions of the church but he's just doing his job as a tour guide.

Tourist trap! So steer clear. Food is sub par, watery sides and a very small portion of etliekmek. We’ve been touring all around Türkiye (even the more expensive towns) and restaurants always give sides for free and if not, they are honest and give you the price. This restaurant gave us sides, did not mention it is not free (the sides were watery and wasn’t as fresh as we have had at all other places and for TL130!). Then when we wanted to pay by card, the card machine is supposedly not working (clearly a scam to get tips!). Such a bad meal for TL350. Not just that, we were asked where we were from, said South Africa and then the owner/manager made a very racist comment that we are not black?! Not recommended and left a bad taste in our mouth about their intentions with tourists visiting Konya.

Mosque
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Azizia Mosque, located in Konya, Turkey, is a stunning example of Ottoman and baroque architecture. Construction began in 1676 AD, making it one of the city's historical landmarks. The mosque features intricate motifs and colorful Ottoman inscriptions, along with a beautiful tall minaret. Adjacent to a bustling market selling Turkish and Ottoman arts, it offers visitors an immersive cultural experience.
Aziziye Mosque, located near the Mevlana Rumi Tomb in Konya, is an architectural gem that left me in awe during my visit. While it might not receive as much attention as the tomb of Rumi, it is a masterpiece in its own right and absolutely worth exploring. Built in the late 17th century and later restored in the 19th century, the mosque stands out with its unique blend of Ottoman and Baroque architectural styles. The towering minarets with intricate detailing and the large central dome are mesmerizing, but what truly caught my attention were the stunning stained-glass windows that allow sunlight to pour into the prayer hall, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere. The interior is equally captivating, with ornate calligraphy, exquisite marble work, and beautifully painted ceilings. Every detail reflects the craftsmanship and artistry of the period. The mosque’s spacious courtyard also offers a peaceful spot to sit and reflect, making it a perfect complement to the spiritual experience of visiting the nearby Mevlana Museum. What makes Aziziye Mosque special is its ability to transport you back in time while providing a calm and welcoming space for visitors. I highly recommend taking a moment to visit this hidden treasure when you’re in Konya—it’s an unforgettable experience.
Mubeen H — Google review
Here’s a polished version of your message: "Experience the serene beauty of the mosque and the soul-stirring recitation of the Quran. Kindly note that there are only **5 minutes** between the Adhan (call to prayer) and the start of the Salah (prayer). To ensure you’re ready on time, I recommend performing your ablution (wudu) before arriving. This will help you settle in calmly and join the congregation without rushing. May your prayers be blessed!"
Alwaleed A — Google review
The mosque gets its name from Sultan Abdulaziz, who commissioned the reconstruction of the original mosque, which was destroyed in a fire in 1867. The original mosque dated back to the late 17th century. The mosque is big and reflects the architectural motifs of the late 19th century.

Aziziye Camii is one of the most unique mosques I came across in Konya. Its baroque-style architecture really stands out, and the interior is absolutely beautiful — rich colors, high ceilings, and a calm, spiritual vibe. It’s not as crowded as some other spots, which makes it even more enjoyable to sit and admire the details. Located close to the Mevlana area, it’s easy to stop by while exploring the city. A great blend of history and beauty.

One of the most underrated mosques in Turkey. First built in 16-17th century and then rebuilded by Sultan Abdülaziz in the second half of 19th century. Both interior and exterior engravings present rare examples of Baroque-style design, which makes it unique among mosques.

An excellent place to stop for an other worldly adventure. Enjoy a quick toilet and stretch stop at Tuz Gölü, on route to Konya. We stopped by the lake, the second largest lake in Türkiye, 1665 square kilometres surface area is one of the largest hyper saline lakes in the world. It provides a unique and otherworldly landscape when the lake evaporates over the summer months. The gift shops are loaded with fun collectibles and the employees are extremely accommodating. Highly recommend this place.

It’s fun to walk in the salt water. You can go pretty far out in the lake in this season. The lake is very beautiful. There is a very big gift shop. Entering the lake is free but the restroom and foot wash each charged 15TL.

It used to be better.. this was not the best time There was hardly any water in the salt lake it self & there was very smelly mud .. the salt was like stones this time .. normally it is softer & there was not much people Maybe the timing of the year was not the best to visit .. I am not sure Never mind .. I like this place & I will give it another try 🥹

Amazing salt bed which stretches for miles and miles ahead of you! If you dig into the salt water will pool out making it a great place to bathe your feet and such. The cafe on site has great food too and there’s a great shop to explore. Definitely worthwhile for anyone on a road trip in the area!
Avery S — Google review
It’s a very special place, the water evaporates leaving behind a massive salt flat. The salt is a little bit pink but not as much as most pictures online. I definitely recommend it for a stopover if you’re traveling but it’s not really worth a special trip in my opinion.

This is a great example of 13th century wooden mosque. It's an Unesco heritage since 2023. Remind yourself that the pillars are made of cedar trees. The handcraft on the woods are so unique

A 700+ years old mosque that dates back to the Seljuk empire time. From the inside with the amount of wood used in its build, it looks special and different from others. There are graves for well known historian characters inside as well. On the day I’ve visited the mosque, it was insanely cold inside. I like the outer architect and the cone-like structure. It gives the mosque its unique and iconic shape.

While en route Konya to Antalya this unique Mosque made from Wooden pilliors is truly a pleasant surprise & one doesn't have to detour from the main route. Sita on the banks of Lake which is equally beautiful & a picture perfect destination. Eşrefoglu Mosque is a 13th-century mosque in Beyşehir, Konya, Turkey It is situated 100 metres (330 ft) north of the Beysehir Lake. History - Although his beylik was relatively an unimportant political power, the city flourished as one of the cultural centers of Seljuk world. In 1296, he commissioned a mosque in Beyşehir, one of the greatest mosques during the Anatolian beylik period. In 1302 he died and buried in a sepulcher next to the mosque. Notable thing is On 15 April 2011 the mosque was included in the list of World Heritage Tentative list. I really liked it Time Taken 30 Minutes Architecture Unique & made of Wood. Do I recommend Yes if you are driving down from this Route. Preetam.✨

Eşrefoğlu Mosque is a true masterpiece and a symbol of Turkey’s rich heritage. Steeped in history, this architectural marvel showcases the intricate beauty of Anatolian artistry. The mosque’s design, dating back to the 13th century, reflects the timeless craftsmanship of that era. Five stars for the exceptional preservation, allowing visitors to witness the cultural tapestry woven into the very walls of this historical gem. A must-visit for those seeking a profound connection to Turkey’s past

Stunning architecture from the Seljuk Dynasty. Very different from the other masjids/mosques in Istanbul. One thing I disliked is that women entered the mosque wearing extremely revealing clothes. There should be more enforcement at this mosque regarding this. May Allah SWT keep the masjids full, always.

Eşrefoğlu Mosque is a 13th-century mosque in Beyşehir, Konya Province, Turkey During the last years of Seljuks of Rum, various governors of Seljuks enjoyed a partial independency. They established their own semi independent principalities named Anatolian Beyliks. Eshrefids (1280-1326) was a small beylik in center west Anatolia. After 1288, Süleyman Bey, the second bey of Eshrefids rebuilt the city of Beyşehir as a capital of his beylik. Although his beylik was relatively an unimportant political power, the city flourished as one of the cultural centers of Seljuk world. In 1296, he commissioned a mosque in Beyşehir, one of the greatest mosques during the Anatolian beylik period. In 1302 he died and buried in a sepulcher next to the mosque.

Çatalhöyük is a significant archaeological site that features the remains of a large neolithic settlement. It dates back to 7,500 BC and is considered one of the oldest human civilizations in the world. The town boasts wall paintings inside houses, giving us a glimpse into ancient life. Located near Konya, visitors can take a short day trip to explore the excavated sites, museum and recreated houses.
Free entry to this ancient wonder is an absolute steal! Çatalhöyük offers a fascinating window into the lives of our earliest ancestors. As the oldest known civilization, it's really interesting to imagine their society. Walking through the ruins, you can't help but feel a deep connection to humanity's history. Definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in archaeology or human origins. They also have model houses, where you can walk through to experience how the society used to live. Worth the visit!

This Neolithic and Chalcolithic 7500-5600 BC site has been on my list for a few years and further interest stimulated after visiting the Anatolian Civilization Museum in Ankara this March. The site overlooks the Konya Plains and is a pleasant 40 min rural drive south from Konya. It has a very interesting interactive museum, State of the Art, bookstore and cafe. Would suggest allowing extra time for the museum, it is amazing and exhibits are in English and Turkish. It is educational, great fun and wonderful introduction before walking up the short ramp to the archaeological site perched on top of a small hill.

Great place to visit for history buffs. Sadly the southern wing is closed due to ongoing archeological work. The replica buildings are fascinating. Downside: Most of the excavated items have been shipped to the museum in Konya.

Çatalhöyük is the best archeological site/museum I have seen in years. Modern architecture nicely blends to surroundings and on a sunny day this makes a perfect visit. It combines first section that is mostly educational and the second one that reflects these teachings and makes great understanding on how successful is the digging of this faboulous settlement. I was especiially impressed with the media explanations (i.e. animations, posters, interactive movies depicting settlers real life....) with artefacts, posters and diagrams that place Çatalhöyük in the context with the other world's archelogical great sites. Also world class are the replicas of the exteriors and interiors of the settlement's houses. Things to know Bring your own water and some snacks. One can easily spend 3 to 4 hours here and if the café is closed like today one is on his/her own. In short if you are in Konya this place is a must see.
Dragan A — Google review
Excellent museum and Neolithic site, which makes understanding accessible and entertaining. Staff very helpful and friendly. Cafe staff the same. We were surprised that, besides Egypt, there was no mention of Africa at all in the archaeological timeline ! Getting to the site is a bit tricky without your own car, and if you don't want to do the tour bus. We caught the Cumra bus from the local autobus terminal close to Mevlana Meydan, then a taxi from Cumra to Catalhoyuk. We caught a ride back with the tour bus at about 15.45, which dropped us off on Mevlana Meydan.

Solo traveller tip here: if you are in konya check the shuttle bus to the site, it's very convenient and ATM the only option to go there if you haven't a car. The museum is very nice and the site is breathtaking. You can't miss it if in konya.

İzzet Koyunoğlu'nun evi koruma altına alınarak, çevresi kamulaştırılmış, 3433 m²'lik alanda, bugünkü modern binası yapılmıştır. Dutlukırı picnic ground in Konya is a beautiful and expansive recreational area with a wide variety of activities. It boasts an abundance of trees, offering shade and a serene atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy numerous play opportunities as well as explore the vineyard, lavender garden, and nature walking area. The extensive facilities also include a restaurant where visitors can dine while taking in the picturesque surroundings.
(Translated by Google) It is a great choice for those looking for a weekend picnic, large playgrounds for children, a fish restaurant, and a picnic area with or without fire. Although it's been two years since it was opened, I just discovered it. They charge only 5₺ for the vehicle at the entrance. It has a very large area. They really have thought of everything. If you catch the season, lavender, rose garden, vineyards etc. There are also areas. The park opens at 9 o'clock and closes at 23.00 in the evening. The park is closed on Mondays.. Gerçekten her şeyi düşünmüşler. Mevsimini yakalarsaniz lavanta, gül bahçesi, üzüm bağları vs. alanlar da var. Saat 9 da açılış, akşam 23.00 de parkın kapanışı. Pazartesi günleri park kapalı..

(Translated by Google) It is a nice picnic area, except that it is overcrowded on weekends. It's quite wide. There are too many camellias. There are few toilets. There is even a library. The slide track is very long and beautiful. But it's old. It needs to be renewed. There are also two buffets belonging to Meram Municipality. The prices are also very reasonable. There is also enough parking space for vehicles. It would be a great park if it had barbecue areas and fountains. It was already done during the time of Fatma Toru, a long time has passed. Maybe it will see a revision soon.
