Where to eat: the 50 best restaurants in Santa Teresa

We got a chicken burrito and margaritas one of the days, and a cappuccino, banana smoothie, French toast and bagel and lox the other day! Super nice that they’re open early (7am) to grab a bite to eat before surfing or other excursions. It is rainy season so it is quieter at this time of year, but it was really nice because it was quiet and the food both times for lunch and breakfast was very quick! We also bought the pre-made granola And it was delicious! Highly recommend this place, there’s several different options of places to eat, and of course, a lot of different food items to choose from!

Words can't even describe how awesome this spot is. Our family went back multiple times and ate from all three food spots (Nomad, Sunrise and Happy Bowls). Mahi Mahi dishes were awesome. The chocolate cake from Sunrise is a 10/10! You have to eat here!

Eat Street in Santa Teresa is a great spot for lunch! The prices are reasonable compared to other places in the area, and the portions are both generous and super tasty. The service is friendly and efficient, which makes the whole experience even better. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a satisfying and affordable meal

This place is great in that it has a lot of options and variety as well as great prices! We dined here a few times and I will say some things are good and others are just okay. The nachos and tacos were both amazing - nachos were loaded to the max and the fish tacos were super crispy and authentic. Our experience with the cocktails was just okay, we felt they were lacking alcohol and nothing special. I went for the poke bowl given the many good reviews however it was not for me - overloaded with a sweet chili sauce and the tuna had little fat links that made it hard to chew.

Not your typical restaurant, if that's what you're expecting. This is a mini Time Out Market! There is a bar, a cafe, and two food menus (food truck style). We had the Burgers and Burritos. They were all very delicious! A bit too greasy and salty. But if you're into that, you'll enjoy it very much. The portions are generous ! (The side order of fries are just perfect in size) I could not finish the burrito 🌯. I'd return to try the Poke Bowls if I return there one day. The music is not well diffused; if you're too close to a speaker, it not fun. If you're right in front of multiple fans, you'll get air blowing in your face through your stay. Chose your seat wisely to get the perfect setting!

Such a great hangout spot! We had smoothies, octopus tacos, a curry dish, and pastries daily. Everything was amazing. The staff is so nice and friendly. The parking lot is very convenient

The food was tasty, however it in no way justifies the hefty price that we paid for our dinner ($150 for the very same type of order we do everywhere else for sushi and don’t pay anywhere close to that and eat more). Sure, it was good. But that good? I wouldn’t say so. The service was great; several waiters came by our table and the “main” waiter for us was great! He was nice and up to joke with us, which is cool. The place is nice and spacey, although the road outside is narrow and can be tough to navigate if and when it gets filled with parked cars. Would go again, probably. Would think about it twice beforehand.

Our chef Emilio was FANTASTIC! We actually went fishing with him in the morning and brought our catch with us to the restaurant that evening for dinner. Emilio prepared such a variety of delicious preparations- it truly made our experience one of a kind! Every dish was AMAZING- especially the teriyaki fish. They had good wine and spirit selections to pair with our food. Spring rolls were also delicious. Great ambience. Would recommend!

I never leave reviews but I had to after eating at this place with my girlfriend. We were very excited for sushi but that all quickly changed. The miso soup was incredibly fishy. It tasted like I was eating a fish straight from the water. The house salad was simply raw, uncooked, unstemmed vegetables soaked in soy sauce. It was insanely expensive and the quality did not add up. The sushi was also not good at all. Would not recommend.

I grew up in Malibu, California and have eaten sushi literally my entire life, and incredible sushi at that. I have also been to Japan. I have never in my whole life had Sushi this good, this fresh, this delicious. We came here for my birthday, and it was so good we needed to have it one more time before flying home. So we came here for our very last night, and I can’t wait to come back to Costa Rica to have this sushi again. The service is incredible, the staff is so sweet and kind. And the ambience is magical. We started with the red snapper carpaccio, which was to die for. Also, the tuna tartare. We had the Koji roll, the Hawaiian roll, the Hermosa roll, and the Tataki roll. My favorites were the Hermosa and the Hawaiian. My husband’s favorite was the Koji. But you literally cannot go wrong. We also brought my two-year-old daughter, and she absolutely loved it, the staff were so so kind to her. This restaurant is a must if you are visiting Santa Teresa. I cannot wait to eat here again!

The food is very good and the location beautiful. A nice bar at the end with good music for a nice dinner. However, the service was terrible. We waited over 15 minutes to order. The food and drinks came in quickly though.

Friendly and kind staff, service is great. The spicy sesame tuna melts in your mouth, koji roll rocks, churros are insanely good. Hibiscus juice is so fresh and yummy too. Highly recommend! 😊

When you ask anyone in town, "what's the best place to eat?", you will always be pointed here. On our visit, I over ate, which means the food was spectacular. The sushi was amazingly fresh, the rolls were creative, and the Que Mae beer on tap was made specifically for this spot. If you want a delicious meal and wonderful ambience, make sure to eat here while in Santa Teresa.

Very impressed with our dinner experience at Katana. All of the food and drinks exceeded expectations. The Tataki Tuna, har gow, butter chicken and katana roll all had delicious flavor. The flourless chocolate cake was the best I’ve ever had and I’ll definitely get it again next time I visit. The service was ok - the server was super nice and gave great recommendations but tended to forget about us a few times. The delicious food made up for it though. 10/10 dishes!!!

Amazing food! Everything was very fresh and flavorful! The spring rolls with chicken were great to start! For my main, I got the chicken kebabs— the chicken was delicious and the cucumber salad was so refreshing! Top tier food!

WOW. I ate here last night and I was blown away. The service was unparalleled. I came in an hour before closing and sat at the bar. I got a phenomenal passionfruit margarita, samosas, and the pad Thai. I asked for no egg in my pad Thai and they came back to check if I was vegan because there was apparently also fish sauce. I said I was vegan and they made the pad Thai accordingly. They checked on me often, offering anything I needed from a glass of water, to wiping the sweat puddle from my margarita glass away multiple times. The food was fresh and incredible. Possibly the best service I’ve gotten at a restaurant anywhere. Also great ambiance. 10/10 would recommend.

The dry aged tuna & the shrimp dumplings (both from the starters section) were 10/10. Also had the katana sushi roll but it was just ok. Would also recommend the spicy passionfruit margarita 🙏🏼 def on the pricier side but it’s a nice spot.

My girlfriend and I had varying reviews of Katana. What we both agreed on was the ambiance was beautiful and very much feels like a 5 star restaurant. It is one of the pricier restaurants in town, but worth it if you’re splurging for a nice night out. Service could have been better, it wasn’t that busy when we were there and still sat with dirty plates and empty glasses on the table for 10+ mins at a time on several occasions through our 2+ hour visit. We started with spring rolls, as a Canadian and there not being any description for the dish we expected deep fried, but instead received a de-constructed raw contents of spring rolls. It was fine but not what we were expecting. She got the green curry which was 9/10 I got the butter chicken which was 2/10. Very tomato sauce-y, liquid-y and not a hint of spice to be seen. Despite being our most expensive dinner on our trip, it was my least enjoyable. If you’re craving Asian cuisine go for it. But I’d recommend popping in for an app and a drink instead of a whole meal to still experience the vibes.

Cute restaurant! Great selection of drinks although they didn’t have all the bottles listed on the menu. We were there during rainy season so the place was pretty empty, nice quiet environment. Good service, but wish they had paper menus instead of trying to read a pretty extensive menu on a small screen with a bunch of animations going on. The food wasn’t as flavorful as I hoped - the pad Thai left something to be desired.

If you eat sushi this is definitely your spot. The food tasted so fresh you’d think they just caught it after you ordered. Respectful workers and amazing atmosphere. Thankful to end our trip at this restaurant.

Stayed at an Airbnb right next to this location for about a week every night made a stop by there and it was such a beautiful place and there was always new people there every night

Banana Beach was very nice, several options to choose from on the food & drink menu. Food was good & drinks were ok. The price for everything was well worth it…You could sit here all day & get lost in The beach front scenery.

Banana Beach Club was our top restaurant/bar that we were looking forward to visiting on our trip to Santa Teresa, unfortunately we came in shoulder season (mid November) and it rained every single day as there was a tropical storm. While this was in no way their fault the vibes you see on their Instagram and other reviews get completely zapped during poor weather. We still went nearly every day on our 7 day trip as the atmosphere was incredible where modern elegance meets traditional Costa Rican styles. Plenty of and a variety of seating from couches to day beds, lounge and adarondac chairs. The beachfront to the water is large, there is beach volleyball off to the side, swings, a turtle enclosure and a wide variety of daily specials, drinks and food. Although we never ate there, we popped in for at least a drink daily hoping for more people and better weather. I would recommend - but note that if the weather isn’t great you may be the only people there.

Had a decent dinner at Banana Beach while visiting Santa Teresa. The reviews mentioning rough/slow/lack of service are very TRUE - there are servers everywhere but it felt like no one was serving the tables and it doesn't appear they have a typical service system, so you have to be proactive and advocate for yourself. Once you get their attention, they're much better, but it took us about 25 minutes of being ignored and going to the bar on our own for drinks to figure out the "system" there. We went on a Wednesday night, turns out that's one of their party nights - the place was PACKED and they had a DJ playing music and a fire dancer moving around through the space. We were super lucky and grabbed a seat right before sunset near the bar because after sunset everyone came looking for a seat and there were none to be found. So, pro tip: grab a seat about 20 min before the sun sets... you might not see the sun dip into the horizon, but you'll get your butt in a seat for dinner! The vibe of the space is cool with nice lighting and canopies draped throughout. Attire-wise anything goes from dresses to bathing suits to naked children, ha. The beers were super cold, which was great, and the food was pretty good overall. We tried the margarita pizza and burger - I thought the burger was definitely better than the pizza, personally. I'd also recommend trying to sit just a little closer to the water, as away from the water at the tables and couches near the bar there was little airflow so it was pretty hot.

Truely the best beachfront restaurant in S.T. This is what you're paying for. Kevin was a nice and friendly server. Happy hour was 2for1 drinks for $16, though the margarita was small and didn't seem like a lot of tequila. Food was delicious, but also small portioned. Overall, it was a fine experience but know you're paying for the location and view.

The place is lovely but please add more vegan options to the menu!! This said, the only vegan option available was amazing

First at all..it’s hard to get a good ceviche in Santa Teresa but this place definitely got it👌🏽. It’s my second time in three days now having dinner here. The ceviche was one of the best I ever tried and I tried a lot. I choose the mexican style with camerones and pulpo. You can choose spicy from 1-10. I took the 5 and it was spicy but tasty and eatable! Also had to try the homemade lemonade and de fried camarones as starter 👌🏽 The Service was sweet and so friendly!! Definitely a must try here in Santa Teresa CR

We ended up going here twice while we were in the area for a week vacation. The food was great, everyone enjoyed their meals. No bad choice, we had seared tuna, poke bowl and the stir fry. For the poke bowl and stir fry you get to choose your combination of sea food. Our server Yorgan was very friendly and pleasant to talk with.

This spot is a must-try in Santa Teresa! The food is delicious and very well priced. Our server was very kind and offered excellent recommendations. The restaurant itself feels welcoming and tropical.

The seafood is impeccable fresh - caught the day before or same day. The ceviche is great but don’t sleep on that main courses. I had the whole grilled fish of the day (red snapper) and it was delicious. Highly recommend!!

I really loved the vibe of this place. I would model an outdoor kitchen at my house after this restaurant. Very open air & well lit. We were the first people in the restaurant but more people showed up as the evening progressed. Service was good but our server got tied up with a large table at the end of our meal so we waited a little longer for the check. The hummus was really good as an appetizer. He brought it out a little late because we ordered a Caprese empanada, thinking there was not a complementary appetizer. The empanada was delicious regardless. We both ordered a milanesa, but my wife had the better one with tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. Mine had red onions and provolone and it was just the same bite over and over again. Mashed potatoes as a side were very good, and the portions were generous, I was stuffed after. I probably should have gotten the steak sandwich but I still enjoyed my meal.

The Santa Teresa strip is riddled with seafood but if you want a burger this is the place. Twice we ate here and both times had the cheese burger. You know it's good when they ask you how you want the burger cooked.... medium!! Pink inside, juicy..

Amazing food and ingredients quality! I know most Argentinian resteraunts are known for their meats, which I hear is also amazing at El Facon, however as a vegan, I was so impressed with their vegan burger! It was amazing!! Huge burger, with excellent bread, nice pile of fries, and absolutely delicious! Literally the best vegan burger option in the area, and actually that I've had in all of CR at this point. Wonderful, friendly staff, cool vibes and decor, amazing yucca fries, and delicious hummus as well! Highly recommended, for veg or non veg alike, a great experience! They even have live music regularly! 🎶😋

Best Argentinian food style in town. I went with my family 3 adults and 2 kids, it's a relaxed / chill environment with really good service. The meat empanada is incredible. The fish with pure is one of the best I've ever had

We arrived as a family 2 adults and 3 Kids. Everything was superb. The kids loved it. Lovely service, great food and warm atmosphere.

Place a reservation before you get here, they are reservation only. Great spot with a cool setting. Empanadas were great and so was the burger. We weren't super pumped about the ceviche, but still pretty good. Unfortunately the skirt steak was out so I couldn't try that. Good wines from Argentina too. Overall a 5* spot in Santa Teresa.

Great vibe, good live music. I liked to see kitchen guys dancing while cooking, seems like they had fun. The Argentinian steak was excellent, shrimp appetizer very good, buffalo cheese with tomatoes not so much. I wasn’t sure if it didn’t go bad. Very uncomfortable chairs tho, and unfortunately our server got so busy that she forgot to bring the desert menu, after 20 minutes we just asked another person for a check. Besides that very cool spot.

The surfers sandwich was very fresh and delicious!! Perfect squeeze of that lime and my wife loves the sandwich. Although the acai bowl was just decent!

We ate at Ani's every day during our stay in Santa Teresa, and it quickly became a favorite! Every morning, we'd stop by for a cappuccino, and the staff was always warm and welcoming. The food was consistently great—fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. It does get busy, so I highly recommend going early when they open. We also visited for lunch once, and I had the Mahi Caesar Salad and the Yellow Bowl, both of which were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

The “Morning Sunshine” smoothie was one of the best things I had during my stay in Santa Teresa! I also only preferred to get my iced coffees from here as they were the perfect amount of sweet and delicious. This is a prime location, as it was right across from our Airbnb & it had a path to the beach right next to it. Most seating is outdoor, but it’s covered and airy. This spot is very chill, with good ambience and lots of conversation.

My go to place for food in Santa Teresa. Their bowls and smoothies are delicious with very fulfilling portions. Plus friendly staff, always a pleasure to have conversations with the folks working at Ani’s. Really enjoyed my every visit. If you are ever in Santa Teresa, check this place out.

11/10 Wish we had found Ani’s sooner into our trip. Best breakfast in town, way better than The Bakery as it feels like a small cafe rather than a restaurant. Açai bowl was to die for, capers/salmon bagel was tremendous. Flat white and latte was out of this world. We also had a chocolate muffin which was fresh and decadent. Service was fast, friendly and knowledgeable.

This place is sooo yummy!!! Liked it so much I came twice. Great veggie and vegan option. Their smoothies are really amazing. Good portions and really nice staff. Both times I went was semi busy, but didn’t have any issues with waiting for food. Highly recommend all the items I got (veggie breakfast burrito, morning sunshine smoothie, and the protein bowl. Would go again if I had more time.

Came here many times during my stay in Santa Teresa with my husband for our honeymoon. The service is always GREAT and the food ... INCREDIBLE !! We love this place and thank you to Luis, Emmanuel and Maikol for making our experience one that we are gonna remember. Now I feel like I need to improve my cooking skills haha

Beautiful hotel! We didn’t stay here overnight, but we spent three afternoons at the beach restaurant and bar Manzú honestly, the most beautiful spot in the area. We were lucky to have Kenneth (Alvarado) taking care of us, and he truly made our experience special. Besides being very professional and attentive, he was incredibly kind with our 2-year-old, even playing with him and making him feel so comfortable. Our little one almost became friends with him! I highly recommend this place, you won’t be disappointed. The cocktails are excellent, the kids’ spaghetti was a big hit 😉, and the sunsets are simply unforgettable!

Manzu is beautiful and the staff is amazing. The owners are a lovely local couple you'd just want to hang out with forever. Drinks were perfection and the food was delicious only here a few more days but well definitely be back!

I was staying at Nantipa and can only recommend Manzu. The vibe is really chill, perfect beach view and nice food. Moreover, the service is so good. Especially Cristian and Jose were so nice and accommodating, big shout out to them!

What a great place to have a delicious meal. The atmosphere and vibe was so chill. We didn’t have a reservation, but the service was still top notch. My husband and I shared the tuna tartar and it was mouthwatering. My husband got the catch of the day which was a whole snapper and I got the smoked octopus… both were impeccable. Definitely a must go when you’re in Santa Teresa.

I have waited a long time to try this restaurant! We decided to stop in for breakfast and I’m so glad we did. 🍳 The food was delicious and fresh! We ordered : the tico breakfast x2, chef toast, coffee and fruit smoothies. 🏝The location is just beautiful. It’s easy to get to from anywhere in town, and you cannot beat these views. It was so peaceful and enjoyable. It has to be one of the best ocean front venues in town. 👨‍🍳The service was great. Very prompt and polite! I wish we could have also tried dinner. Next time!

Probably the best hummus in Santa Teresa. We ordered hummus shakshuka , hummus with chickpeas and the shakshuka isriali plate. The portions are big and filling. Fast service and a nice chill Israeli zula vibe. The owner is very welcoming and hospitable. If you are in Santa Teresa and want to feel like your in Israel this is the place.

My wife and I had been driving for over 4 hours to get to Santa Teresa. We arrived hangry thirsty and hot. We found Zula and we couldn’t have been more lucky to go here as our first experience in town. We both had falafel wraps. Huge portions! Was amazing! We also both had a fruit smoothie which was huge and down right delightful. The guy who runs the place was super nice thoughtful and our stuff came out fast and with a smile. The hot sauce mix was delicious. Thank you! Highly recommend! 5 stars

The food at Zula was tasty and fresh — great flavors and a nice variety of Mediterranean and Israeli dishes. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the quality of the food. No one checked in on us during the meal, which felt impersonal. When I asked about the 10% service charge, I was told it wasn’t a tip — even though it usually is in Costa Rica. I ended up tipping another 10%, even though I didn’t feel the service really earned it. Good food, but the service and transparency need improvement.

Wow wow wow 🤩 Zula has been on my radar and I finally was able to visit and it did not disappoint! Honestly I have nothing bad to say except I couldn’t try everything. The food was incredible, their hummus so creamy and the restaurant was an excellent place to spend the afternoon. I got the shashuka hummus plate and as you can see it was 💯. Also, an unknowing champion was the French fries… the crispiest papas you’ve ever had! 10/10, highly recommend, can’t wait to return.

The girl who was serving us tonight was very friendly and helpful while ordeing. She will make sure you have a good time eating at this restaurant. The food tasted delicious and we had a great seat in one of the lower 'chill' seats. They also play some nice music and even show some video's on a big screen to entertain their guests.

Zula’s is the closest restaurant to our hotel in Santa Teresa and was our first meal in town. We’ve already gone back again! It offers spacious, shaded courtyard dining with many fans that keep the air moving to create a pleasant dining experience even on a hot afternoon. So many good things in the menu - everything we have had has been delicious. I highly recommend starting off with one of their fruit smoothies or the frozen mint lemonade. Their falafel and hummus are among the best I’ve had. The pita is very good and arrives at the table fresh and warm. Our waitstaff have both been very friendly and bilingual. Very highly recommended. Cash only.

Went here just after opening at 12am. Food took a while to get even for being only the second customer, which I see as good sign that it was properly made. The smooties are huge, some which are also vegan. Had the falafel plate which was also large, and good taste. Walked away very full. Accept credit card.

This is a really cool bar with good live music. The ambiance is very nice too. Definitely a great place to go get a beer and hang out. The main problem was with the meal we ordered. We got the vegetarian Thai noodles. We expected it to have at least some kick, but it was not spicy at all. The noodles were also way overcooked, which made it hard to eat. The portion was also way too big, which means we ended up throwing half of it out, which makes me sad. I'll definitely come back here, but only for drinks and music!

Fave place in Santa Teresa! The energy was unlike anything I've experienced in a while. Good quality live music and a bustling lively atmosphere.

Horrible service which is very surprising since the service in Costa Rica is usually great. They tried to charge me for drinks I’ve never ordered. And worse - the bartender/cashier near the bathroom gave me bad attitude because I told her that I won’t pay for something I HAVE NEVER ORDERED. I have read other reviews complaining about the same thing and I suspect it’s something they do systematically. I’m sure it works for them with drunk people but it didn’t work with me because I was there for exactly 40 minutes and was sober. Other than that, the live band was nice so it is not a bad option for Thursday night if you go there for a drink and make sure nobody takes advantage of you.

Service was pretty slow although they did not have a full house or staffing issues - the waiters just seemed to wander around a lot and had to ask 3 times for the bill and wait 20 minutes to finally get it. For a place that automatically adds 10% service fee one can expect better, specially with the high quality of service of other places in the area... Tried their octopus and shrimp appetizers, both were overcooked, though taste was good. Cocktails are average. Unless you go for the music I wouldn't recommend, there are way better places within a few mins to spend your money on.

It is rare to go with a group of 6, all order different things, and everything turn out delicious. I tried the pesto, gnocchi, ravioli, and Tagliatelle ragu, and all were delicious. Also tried the sole pizza, and the hot honey was a nice touch. Honestly don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Will say to bring bug spray, as we did get some bug bites while eating outside.

We stayed for 9 days in Santa Teresa and the first experience in Amici was so good that it was the only restaurant that we repeat. The food was perfect, the decoration, the service. In the second time we ordered the grilled octopus and the taste was amazing, but it was a very small portion. But the way the manager and our waitress solve the problem, was perfect! We should definitely come back and recommend Amici for everyone

I had the pleasure to eat at multiple restaurants all over Santa Teresa during my two week stay. Amici was the place my family frequented the most! First off, don't ever go here without ordering the Sole Pizza! It is an absolute must have! The specials are awesome and the drinks are spectacular, but the amazing staff and people who own and run this restaurant make it truly special. I suggest you stop looking and go get a table now.... You can thank me later 😉

This little gem in Santa serves well composed dishes with high quality ingredients, perfect for sharing in a welcoming and cheerful atmosphere. If you leave without trying their pizzas you are absolutely missing out! I had the one called Sole and it was crazy good. Only thing is that their pizzas makes you crave for having it again.. and again.. The place is perfect for dinner and the owners are super friendly. You can easily spend the whole night here staying for drinks at their separate cocktail bar Terrazza. It’s urban but cozy with high palm trees and a terrace, and the cocktails are really tasty and actually super cheap compared to other places. They have DJs and events so make sure to check their insta for updated info. Definitely one of the best places in town so you won’t regret going here for sure🔥🌴

One of my favorite Santa Teresa beach restaurants. Amazing pizza with a 72 hour sourdough rise! The atmosphere was super cozy. Loved every moment eating here. Highly recommend :)

5 years later and the pizza is still so good! Pizza, calzone, and drinks were great. Pizza was super thin and tasty, ordered a vegetarian and margarita. My mom ordered a calzone with cheese and ham, it was huge, def could feed 2 people. Tequila lemonade was delicious. Went here over another pizza place down the street on advice of our taxi driver. Did not disappoint, pizzas were a good size. Husband and I shared 2 and had leftovers for next day.

Great spot in Santa Teresa! We went at dinner time and were surprised to see that it wasn’t very busy. Service was average— nothing bad nothing great, but the food was amazingly fresh. I got the Nami salad and added chicken. It was really good! My family all liked what they got too! Solid option for Japanese food!

We are definitely sushi lovers and Nami was nothing short of amazing. We had appetizers, nigiri and several rolls - all were amazing. The restaurant has such a great atmosphere, the sushi was incredible, service was top notch. Jeremy was wonderful and recommended so many delicious things for us and we loved them all. And, the music was really just the cherry on top as they were playing the funkiest disco playlist. If you are in Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, Hermosa, or anywhere nearby you must try Nami.

The food was absolutely amazing! We ordered a few sushi starters and the chicken Pad Thai and loved it! Our waiter Jeremy was very friendly as well! Overall a very good experience here and will be going again!

We were recommended Nami and couldn’t have had a better experience. The food was of high quality, delicious and fresh. Martin was our waiter who paid such great attention to detail, explained the menu to us and made sure we ordered the perfect amount. It was his first day of the job, hitch you would never have guessed!

I had the Mezcalita Wasabi, then the Namezcal (served with serious smoke), then the Tokyo Roll (vegetables and fruit, so tasty) and the Ceviche Roll (just a touch of heat). Sitting at the bar, I got to know Fred (aka Frederick) and he took such good care of me. They should give him a raise and make him manager. He had a smile for everyone and knew just exactly what you need by looking in your eyes with understanding. Nami knows what’s up. Do it.

Wonderful sushi!! We got the chef roll 2 & 3, as well as the heart roll. All of them were amazing!

Been coming here every time I come to Santa Teresa. This time I went twice because the burgers are high quality and very delicious. I recommend getting the meat a bit red as it adds to the flavour. Their fries are incredible! Whenever they have live music, it’s wonderful and adds to the atmosphere. The people working there are very nice and attentive. Highly recommend!

if you are looking for great burgers - go to burger rancho! we had a „normal“ rancho burger and a „special“ angus burger. both highly recommended! and the homemade jalapenos sauce - jummy! we come back, for sure! and on top the owner (?) was very friendly and kind. good job guys! 🤙🏼

This place was really cute. We had a great meal that everyone in our group enjoyed. The real star of the dinner was the chocolate milkshake though! It was THE BEST chocolate milkshake that any of us have ever had. I would definitely come here again even though the fries weren't very good.

The burger was incredible. One of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The restaurant is small and cozy and central enough to be near everything. If you're going in the high season, expect to wait in line to get a table.

This place is my favorite Italian restaurant. I have ate her multiple times when traveling to Costa Rica. This food is on the level of Italy (or even better). I have dreams of the pizza, gnocchi truffle pasta, and especially the focaccia bread omggggggg. Go eat it now!!

Ate here almost every night while we were in Costa Rica. And then when we didn’t go there to eat in person, we ordered takeout! Back home in the states all we can do is dream of eating there again. The food was that good! They have this wine I cant seem to buy in the US and sad about that too!

Absolutely love this place! I've had their pastas and pizzas and they're all delicious! The mussels appetizer, impepata di cozze, is a must! I ate the spaghetti allo scogglio and the bolognese, both are delicious, but I go back for the spaghetti allo scogglio! Also, if you sit at the bar, Josie is amazing and loves making fun new drinks! This is a must stop if you're in Santa Teresa. Pronto also hosts tons of fun events all week long; From salsa lessons to karaoke!

This place is easily one of Santa Teresc's best restaurants. The atmosphere is amazing, with a cool bar, a big pizza oven, and fancy lighting, all made better by the gorgeous wood. The food was incredible; the pizza was perfect and so tasty, and dessert was the best way to end it. The service was super fast, which we loved. Our waiter, Joshua, was awesome-so polite and nice, and spoke perfect English. Everyone working there was great and helpful, making the whole thing fantastic.

One of the best Italien Restaurants in Costa Ruca for sure. Prices are very high (European standard) but the quality of food is remarkable. The staff and the atmosphere is also fantastic 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My food was very good, I ordered the tacos and enjoyed them. But my husband ordered chicken and rice and there was very little chicken in it. The rice was well seasoned. We ate a lot of restaurants in ST and this was one of the more expensive ones and the food didn’t wow us like some places. The service was great and there’s definitely a nice vibe to the restaurant.

Be prepared for NYC-priced chicken here but honestly the chicken is 🔥🔥 so we love this spot. Also shoutout to Yuca fries and the BBQ sauces. The rotisserie chicken is the only entree you should get on the menu (not the fried rice). My friends also liked the ceviche

Simply outstanding! We had the Peruvian beef along with the half rotisserie chicken with yuca fries and a salad with their house made pineapple BBQ sauce and the aioli. The chicken was so juicy and a nice smoky hint. The service was incredible and the owner was so engaging . I would absolutely recommend it.

What an amazing place to eat! We fancied having a different meal for a dinner and we checked where we can have chicken bbq. Fortunately, we found this restaurant who does rotisserie. The staff are very welcoming but not on your face welcoming. They are genuinely lovely people who just wants their guests to enjoy what they offer from the menu. The yucatan fries waa out of this world! The chicken was flavoursome and tender. The shrimp tacos was tasty too! And to finish our meal, we had the passion fruit cheesecake was the perfect end to a lovely meal. The have a simple menu but always a believer that the simpler the menu the better food they could offer!

Such a great random stop on our walk. We got the fish tacos with the fries - it was all very good and fresh. He brought out this hot sauce to try and let me tell you it was the BEST! I was sad it was over and wish I would’ve gotten some of that sauce to go. Loved it. The staff was super friendly and helpful!

The soda in Santa Teresa. Go here, if you’re hungry get the chicken Fajita(all I ever order tbh) and enjoyyyy.. or whatever you want. It’s all really good, solid, consistent food. Just a solid spot. The smoothies, passion fruit, sour sop, and papaya were very good and fresh! The portions were huge and left full, service was great!!

The food was really good. I had the Pescado(fish) meal for dine-in and the chicken breast meal to go. The fish wasn't very flavorful but overall it was satisfactory. The portion size exceeded expectations for the price which happens to be very reasonable. The chicken breast had great flavor. I'm almost tempted to swing by for another go at it before I head back home, it's that good. The food didn't take too long although they were consistent with all tables filled. The server was very busy but remained attentive. The only thing that I did not like about this experience was the dogs walking around and going from table to table. The patron next to me was a bit uneasy about it as well but it wasn't off-putting to the degree of total uncomfort.

A bit expensive, but worth it for the view and the food is great! A few kid options. Chicken fingers are delicious and homemade. Hamburger was served with cheese and ketchup and my sons were both very happy! Ceviche was fresh, margaritas strong, and guacamole generous.

An amazing restaurant / bar located right by the beach. The have an amaxing selection of fresh fruit juices, smoothies and cocktails. The fish taco was absolutely to die for! The adobo taco was more like chicken jerky but it was great too! Green glow smoothie was very refreshing and tasty!

Café Social is an absolute gem! Whether you’re in the mood for bold Caribbean flavors or a classic done right, this place delivers. Their Caribbean chicken is hands-down the best I’ve had—tender, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. And the BLT? Easily the best in Costa Rica. Crispy, fresh, and so satisfying. We also had the tacos, which are delicious- especially that they make their taco shells right before. The vibe is warm and welcoming, making it the kind of place you’ll want to keep coming back to. A true local favorite and totally worth the visit!

Best service and best cafe con leche I’ve had on my trip. The staff was kind and put a wireless fan on our table to keep any bugs away. They were very attentive and helpful. I would recommend medialunas con Nutella for a sweet treat :)

We came to Cafe Social to get some breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. The coffee was AMAZING and all the food was very delicious. We got the Pochi and the Super Bowl and loved them both. I got a coffee and my daughter got the pink juice. All of the food was great. I would definitely recommend Cafe Social.

It’s not so easy to find a good place with healthy vegan food in Santa Teresa beach. Nice place with vegan options. By the way, the food looks really healthy. They don’t put a lot of oil or fried too much. We also took a quinoa bowl and it was great as well. We enjoyed our meal!

Small but delicious menu. Great for breakfast or lunch. We had the BLT with a fried egg and it was delicious. Also tried the chia pudding and smoothies. I was excited to try it because Café Social in Nosara is one of my all time favorite spots, it is not as nice in St Teresa but still great.

This the first place we ate when we got to Santa Theresa, Costa Rica. It set the tone very well. Food was great, the vibes were great. The staff were friendly and hospitable.

Amazing food and drinks! The premixed cocktails are fresh and SUPERB! We had done a morning fishing trip with Day Trips Costa Rica and caught 2 types of tuna. Aaron (the guide) is also a chef and gave us 4 restaurants in Carmen Beach where we could bring the fish and they would make us something special. We chose to come to Drift. The fisherman’s special was a 6-course tasting menu that BLEW OUR SOCKS OFF! It was so delicious and ranks in my top 5 meals of all time!!!! The tuna carpaccio with ground cherries and cocoa nibs was our favorite, but favorite is hard when all courses were amazing!

Super cute spot! I got an espresso, the spicy black bean burger w fries, and also their drink deal 2 for $15. The spicy black bean burger was homemade and probably the best I’ve ever had. The staff was very nice and spoke amazing English. They came to ask if I was vegan since I ordered the black bear burger and I said I am- they offered me a vegan bun. I was really impressed and appreciative of them making this effort to keep my meal fully vegan. Amazing service, amazing food.

Tucked away just back from the road we were unsure what to expect but we had an incredible dinner. We tried some of their specialty cocktails which were on special, the watermelon mule I believe one one. Excellent. I had the burger and salad, girlfriend had the Poke bowl. All 10/10. Service was incredible, very attentive and great with recommendations.

We are back in Santa Teresa and back to Drift Bar! This place is a gem! Always fresh, creative, generous food- the classics remain Tuna tartare, bang bang shrimp, fish Bao, gyosas, and Sharon is always introducing something new. Best Vegetarian restaurant hands down in Santa Teresa I tried a lot of things on the menu all packed with so much flavor! Also do Brunch on Sundays. They have an amazing market as well that sells some of the best gluten free deserts of ever tried must try gluten free chocolate cake fluffy and not too sweet. Can’t forget about there cold pressed juices you can buy ones with alcohol or without amazing blends to choose from try the Jalapeño Margarita wow!! I met the owner while there a delightful woman named Sharon she was from Scotland I believe. Do yourself a favor and check this place out you won’t regret!!! Very friendly staff as well exceptional for Costa Rica!!

Excellent food and service! My family and I came in around 6:30pm and we were greeted with kindness. The food was amazing and very filling! I Had My first Restaurant, meal in Porto rico at El Terzcer ~ And i must say that this meal felt like a divine gift, such a giving kind service as well. Healty flavours and spices and the drink was fresh!

Hands down the best restaurant in Santa Teresa! I've been exploring different spots during my stay, but this place stands out. The service is top-notch, and the atmosphere, with its great vibe and music, really adds to the experience. The Caribbean ceviche blew me away! So much flavor packed into every bite, it's easily the best I've ever had. And don't even get me started on the passion fruit guacamole—absolutely delicious! And the Caribbean bowl? Incredible! Honestly, I don't think there's anything on the menu that won't impress you. Oh, and the margaritas? They're in a league of their own! I'm already planning to make this place a must-visit every time I'm in town. You won't be disappointed!

If you're looking for a place to eat or have a drink, this is it. The owner and staff is so sweet, the food is delicious and it has this great atmosphere. We saw people going on dates, spouses eating dinner and friend groups sharing a meal. They served without question the best food we had in Santa Teresa, and the drinks were both strong and good. If we lived here, this would be our to go-place. It felt like home.

This place is a great spot for a meal. The Asian fusion with Costa Rican food was delicious, and the ambiance was fantastic. I was initially confused when I saw an Asian restaurant in Costa Rica, but they explained the history to me.

Terrific veggie sushi!! Nice staff and great place. The one downside is the digital menu. We like it personal, not digital and staring to your phone. Would be friendly for elder people too. Please get a paper menu :) Otherwise perfect.

We stayed in Santa Teresa for 10 days and we kept coming back to Satori for the food and wonderful staff! Emma and Rocio were so welcoming and friendly! I highly suggest the Subarashi Roll and the Crispy Shitaki Bites!

Absolutely incredible experience at Satori! The food was next-level fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every bite felt like the perfect balance of creativity and quality. Ill keep this short and sweet. Came with my girlfriend. Ordered a bunch of food (1 app, 3 sushi rolls, one curry bowl, one dessert). Food was amazing. Well flavored, perfectly cooked. Dessert was perfect size for 2. Not too big. Wine was nice. Service was perfect. She recommended things, gave advice, knew all the details. Place is obviously a tad on the higher side price wise (obviously for good sushi). I would come back here for sure.

Our family was heading to another restaurant and came across Al Chile Viola by chance. Had a look at the menu board and decided to give them a chance. We all had a great time here. The food and service was wonderful. Next time we're back in Santa Teresa we will definitely be back. Thanks too everyone!

Nice restaurant and good food. Despite the good quality, the starters are a bit overpriced due to the small portions. At the beginning very attentive service, the food came quickly despite a good occupancy. From the moment we asked for the bill, we were unfortunately no longer paid attention and it took more than 45 minutes to pay, even though the waitresses stood around several times without work. Such a drop in performance is incomprehensible - hence one star deduction - unfortunately.

BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS!! My boyfriend and I visited in January 2025 and purchased 4 mass printed (IKEA quality) coffee cups.. regularly $20 each, but they had a sale 2 for $15 and I wanted to help them out, even though the coffee cups were of cheap quality. I gave the woman my credit card, she charged it but said she was unable to give me a receipt but assured me she charged me $60. When I got home I checked my credit card statement and she had charged me $120.00. I called my bank and they told me that without a receipt they couldn't refund the $60 l was overcharged. I then tried messaging Zwart Cafe on Facebook and Instagram, and when I didn’t get a response, my boyfriend called Zwarts Cafe and spoke to Margarit, the American owner who spoke English. Margarit told him she did not know how to issue a return, and that she was too busy right to do so and then she hung up on him. My bank advised me to put this review on Google to warn future customers to use cash only in the exact change for this business, so they aren’t overcharged like I was.

Tried Zwarts Café in Santa Teresa on my hunt for the best açaí bowl – but this one missed the mark… Icy texture, overly sweet - not fresh. Toppings were decent with lots of fruit, but overall not a real açaí experience. There was a hair in the bowl - the server saw me remove it the second she placed it down and just said a quick “ups, perdón” in Spanish… Charged 7,150 even though the menu said 6,500 - probably a service fee, but not explained. Wouldn’t go back - this is not açaí… 💔

I really enjoyed the artistic atmosphere of the place and big selection of books (covered heavily in dust though, not very popular I think). Ginger shot and coconut cream bowl were good. And staff is very kind.

Great smoothies and pipas, yummy salads, rainbow rolls, breakfast burritos and our favourite: casado. We love to come here for lunch: good food for good prices, really nice people and cool atmosphere with the art studio around. Also the only place next to the road where the midday heat seems bearable: best to sit below one of the fans ☺️

A different café with a connected art studio offers lots of space to enjoy healthy food they are offering. From vegan to meat, you can get all fresh and very tasty here.

Tasteless food. Ordered multiple items for two ppl and nothing was worth the price, nor the calories, nor the time. They managed to make the only juice in Costa Rica I didn't drink to finish, leaving about 1/3 so bad it was.

Pretty good food and decent service! We came in at dinner time and were gestured to sit upstairs. There was little light in the resultant, so we resorted to flashlights to read our menus— no big deal though. It took quite a bit of time to be greeted, but as soon as we were, our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered the smoked chicken with bbq sauce on the side with a salad! The meat was delicious and flavorful. The salad was anything you’d expect for a standard side salad. My family all loved their burgers. Good option if you’re in the area!

We stumbled on this great Bbq place . The food is awesome with excellent service that we went not only once but 3 times to eat there. We never eat anywhere more than once, but this place is awesome. Our waiter Ariel was the bomb and the manager Chino aw well. Felt like we were at home. We also eat at their other place in Manzanillo called Katina. Has a pool and great view there. Highly recommended.

5 Stars I had an amazing experience at Kooks Smokehouse in Santa Teresa! The food was absolutely incredible—authentic, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The customer service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who made sure we had everything we needed. The bar area is well-designed, and the bartenders were skilled, mixing up fantastic drinks that paired perfectly with the meal. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy. Highly recommend Kooks Smokehouse if you’re in the area!

Awesome fresh food! And the iced coffee is perfect on hot days. This deli has a great vibe with plenty of cool art and decorations to view while you eat. If I'm ever back in CR, I will make sure to make the trek back to Santa Teresa to hit up this awesome spot.

The smooties here are fresh. I had a banana something smoothie with almond milk instead of cow milk to make it vegan. It was delicious, perfect in the heat. Sadly, they close quite early. Large breakfast menu. Accepts credit card (but with a 7% fee). Slightly more pricey than other cafés in the area and in Costa Rica in general.

Super friendly and heathly place for breakfast or lunch.the place is super well and funny decorated which makes it special.we had breakfast here and the owner is super friendly and was chating with us about local life which is always interessating while travelling.

This is by far one of the best breakfast in sant . A huge variety of food !! Toasts, sandwich, eggs in different ways , I have been eater thire everyday for almost a month... The team thire Gabzalo and Maya is always with good energy and super helpful.

Quirky decor with friendly service and yum food. The trips chicken sandwich was a standout, so delicious! Also enjoyed the smoothie of blueberry, avocado and mint.

I spent 2 years living in Bali and haven’t seen such a poor presentation of a chia bowl… guess what, it tasted worse then it looks 🤷🏻‍♀️ For the fact, it hasn’t event tasted much at all. This is very far away from Bali food.

Great place for breakfast. Went here two days in a row. I really liked the acai bowl for breakfast. My husband also tried the breakfast taco and smoothie. All was good. Would definitely recommend 👌

The food and service took awhile and we were the only ones there (two people). The salad I had was good and loaded with nutritious foods. The chicken was a bit dry. Not the best salad in the area.

Had a good brunch at Vermu while visiting Santa Teresa. Stopped by on a Friday morning and was able to find an indoor table and were greeted by a server pretty quick. The food was light and fresh - tried the Summer Bowl with fish and the Buena Nota chicken and mozzarella sandwich. Both were good - I really enjoyed the Summer Bowl, the flavor combos throughout were good, and I'm a sucker for beet hummus! The Jamaica Nice iced hibiscus tea was tart and good as well.

This place is my favorite breakfast spot in Santa Teresa. The flavors are so balanced. Everything you eat on the menu feels like it's healing you in some way. The house iced tea with fresh ginger was amazing. They are family friendly and made our daughter some eggs and avocado. We will be returning again and again during our stay!

Best breakfast burrito in Santa Teresa. My daughter loved her Kelly’s Special smoothie. Good espresso. Plenty of indoor seating W good Air con is perfect if u need to escape the heat. Lovely secret hidden run of unique independent shops running inland from here, that you can’t see from the road. Could do W a better on-trend cooler velvety-sheened cappuccino. Not the boiled milk froth I got given. Sorry:( Everything else yesterday was perfect.... What a difference a day makes... yesterday the owner served us and we were so disappointed that we hadn’t found this place before. Today we excitedly went for our last coffee before leaving for the airport... turned up after publicised opening time 8am, to a locked door... waitress made us feel very unwelcome, never smiled once. So I’ve down graded yesterday’s near perfect scores. Perhaps she was having a bad day for a genuine reason, so happy to say... def give the place a go yourself... the breakfasts and air con are worth a punt... if today’s experience was a one off.. then my poor scores will justifiably by drowned out my better scores. Fingers crossed because I really liked the Argentinian rugby playing owner.

Awesome spot with great food. I had a rice bowl that was so good. The Jamaica Nice drink was refreshing and unique. Definitely give Vermu a try in Santa Teresa. Service was good too. They only accepted cash when I was there (not sure if that was just one day or always).

Love this place for breakfast and lunch. Such good salads and salad bowls. Loved the Sort of Avo Toast and Huevos Vaqueros ❤️‍🔥. Great vegetarian and vegan options as well. 1st class service. And they have matcha latte!! Pastries are not my favorites (had 2 cakes and both were dry), but overall one of the best places in El Carmen and Santa for healthy food and fun breakfast dishes.

The food here is great the atmosphere is lovely and you can tell the staff really care they made our meals and coffees with smiles ans warmth will definitely be back... day one which was yesterday Sunday shift... however day two left a lot to be desired. The new head lady at register on day two which is very next day...Monday is very confused made food to go was eating there got order wrong three times, just a disaster, had I ate here as a first timer on Monday and not Sunday I would not have returned. Whomever works Sunday morning shift this week please re train Monday morning shift they will drive business away.

The blue ashwaganda bowl and the coconut cake were very good. They have a lot of breakfast options in the menu as opposed to some of the places we’ve gone that only have a handful of items. Would definitely recommend.

Nice place to get a coffee or breakfast. They actually have a pretty good coffee compare to other place where they put to much water for me. I took the pancakes with yogurt, it was tasty and more than enough in terms of quantity. If you like pancakes try this place.

This is by far THE best breakfast place in Santa Teresa. It does take a while for the food to come but when it comes …. Yea, it’s good stuff. the atosphere is nice and the service is good too. Can only recomend this place .

Nice spot with great design and friendly, and smiling servers. It's not extremely quick to receive food, but they are newly opened and it's Costa Rica, so be patient and enjoy :) The food itself was good, but I wouldn't necessarily go back just for the food. The salmon bagel only had about 1 slice of salmon. Overall though, still a good spot the check out in Santa Teresa and I'm sure the food service will be quicker as they are open more. Thank you!

The people who work here are wonderful humans. I came back a few times because the atmosphere is perfect and the food is amazing. The açaí smoothie bowl is so good I went back for it a second time. The avo toast with smoked salmon was delectable as well. If I could have breakfast here every day I would.

Another visit to this amazing restaurant set in a super romantic setting. Lots of trees, foliage and outdoor lighting for a perfect setting for dinner. It started raining and luckily there is plenty of space under the covered dining area to accommodate everyone. This is a wonderful place when wanting an upscale dinner, cocktails or wine.

You must have dinner here if you are in the area!!! It is so beautiful at night with all of the lights in the trees, the different levels and cozy nooks. The trees, plants and flowers surround you from the outside world. The outdoor seating is amazing but it is just as pretty under the high ceiling wood roof. The ambiance is peaceful, the staff is delightful and the food was delicious. Very fresh and interesting dishes. It was a beautiful dining experience!!!

I tried the surf and turf. The steak came drenched in a tomato sauce that I don't think worked well with it. Also, I think the steak did not have enough sear or char. The mashed potato had a weird chocolate flavor. I didn't like this dish, but the meat quality seemed good, so possibly other dishes are fine. The atmosphere was very good and the service was friendly.

Absolutely excellent! This is easily the best restaurant in Santa Teresa. The atmosphere, food and service were the best we experienced by far. Skip the trendier spots and head up to this place, you will be very happy that you did.

A beautiful place for dinner. The ambiente is perfect, chill and romantic. We had the special of the day, a 1kg tomahawk steak. Delicious. We shared it and still took half of it home. The host welcomes you in person and everyone is just the nicest person around.

It was not the first time we were at Casa del mar. 2019, they rocked, 2022 they still rock. Same owner, same philosophy, great food and quality service, this time at a better location off-site the main street surrounded by amazing trees, we liked it more. Food quality is great, nothing has changed there, rock solid, and they offer a simple menu, sea food, meat, veggie, 3 columns on 1 page, that's it :). All the personnel are really kind and super professional, they keep everything clean and the client's satisfied at all times. We are traveling with a baby and under the roof it was a bit hotter than outside, but nobody ever complained when we walked around so that the baby would see something new and now get annoyed at one place :D. We hope to see you again in some time.

Overall great experience!! The atmosphere and beach setting is everything we had hoped for, even for a overcast day, the sunset was still beautiful at 6pm. We tried sweet and spicy bell peppers tapas, very small portion which makes sense but tasted good. The bread starter was excellent with the pesto and garlic butter, would recommend! Shrimp and Sabich salad mains were great, if not a little pricy. I got the baked cheesecake for dessert and it was not my favorite, the cookie crumble just seemed dry and a bit heavy, very filling so worth the price if you like the flavor. In terms of service it was attentive during our meal, but they forgot about us after and took a long time to come with the bill.

Had an incredible dinner here for my sister’s birthday. The food was fantastic, as was the sunset and setting on the beach, but the best part was our amazing server, Juan! His recommendations were top notch, everything was perfect. The labneh appetizer was my favorite. He truly made our night and speaking with him was a treat! Can’t wait to come back and ask to sit at his table.

Honestly, it’s the best place in Santa Teresa in terms of service, food, and overall atmosphere. You get to see the most beautiful sunsets. We went several times, and every time the staff was very attentive, constantly checking on us. Food super on time. Great music. We tried a bit of everything, and the ceviche is absolutely the best ,the food feels very fresh. Shot out to Oskar the best waitress they have here.

One of the most amazing experiences in this beautiful countries. Enjoy the beach, some drinks and food, but don't miss the sunset. When I was there, they plaid an opera aria as the sun was going down and created one of the most memorable moments in my travel career.

I’ve been to all the beach bars here and this one is hands down my favorite, food- absolutely amazing, views 10/10, great place to watch the sunset and enjoy the beach and happy hour! Came here multiple times during our trip for an amazing atmosphere. Our waiter, Oscar, went above and beyond. He was so friendly, attentive, and a true pleasure. We felt right at home. Will come back every time we visit.

Friendly staff and good service. Food and drinks were also really good. But portions are rather small and prices are high. Would still recommend for drinks and snacks at sunset. 🌇 But if you are really hungry maybe go somewhere cheaper 😅

What a lovely wine bar! Great selection of wines, and very friendly service. We stopped by on a Thursday evening, and were very happy to enjoy some fantastic live music in front of the shop. Will definitely return next time I'm in the area!

An amazing family run shop! So incredible to find such a variety of incredible wines and spirits in the middle of the jungle! Enjoyed having my favorite wine with sunset views and monkey noises!

I have never been disappointed with anything whether it be wine, gin and tonics, or cheese here. The owners have curated an excellent selection of wine to fit every budget. In addition they have excellent local cheese and brought in an amazing selection of gin and other liquor that is hard if not impossible to find in ST.

We stumbled upon the whine shop during a storm/power outage - they had cosy candles and flashlights on. The owners are from France and they were very nice not just helping with the selection but also letting us take the glasses to next door while having our dinner at the Italian place. They do take credit cards (when there is power :) ) and they have a nice cheese plate and a few more snacks in case you wanna taste the wine on the spot. Definitely worth trying!

Great option for vegan and gluten free, 4 stars for the food variety and the amazing taste. This place is not crowded, a little bit isolated. Over all good experience.

Great vegetarian food and a nice location. Not cheap but worth it. Why not full stars. They charge 10 service charge which is fine. But the waiter writes it down as "tax" with the note service is not included yet with a smiley. (I am not mistaken that tax could be separate or so). This kind of trickinz stupid tourist and phrasing it nicely is just completely unnecessary.

Absolutely loved my experience at House of Somos! The atmosphere is vibrant, welcoming, and full of great energy — perfect for a night out or just a chill evening with friends. A special shoutout to Caesar, the bartender, who completely made our night. His cocktails were not only perfectly balanced but also super creative — you can tell he really knows his craft. On top of that, he was friendly, attentive, and made everyone at the bar feel at home. It’s rare to find that kind of genuine hospitality these days. After staying at Somos for several days I’m convinced it’s the best place to stay in Santa Teresa. Everybody here is so kind and the place is so damn cool. Francine is the best server ever - if you are lucky enough to get her, you should give her a big tip. Elina is an absolute gem. Every time I saw her at the hotel, she put a smile on my face. I’m excited to come back (hopefully) in the near future.

A must visit when in Santa Teresa. We had a memorable evening here on Tuesday night for their Cantina evening. The food was delicious and the signature cocktails served up by Elvis and co. got the dancing going! Our waiter Cristian was attentive and provided excellent service for our meal. I went on a night when it was packed, yet the waitress managed to get us a table and, at the same time, our order was taken right away. The food arrived quickly, accompanied by live music and an unbeatable atmosphere. Safety, cleanliness, and a 10/10 vibe make this spot stand out.

Incredible food and beautiful view! The menu is small but thoughtfully curated, with enough variety that there is something for all tastes. I tried the shrimp which was excellent and the seared tuna which was delicious (although my bar for tuna in Costa Rica is extremely high, and I had better at two other restaurants). The cocktail menu was inventive and the atmosphere was relaxed but elevated, with an open kitchen which I really enjoy. Service was friendly but not super attentive and I felt a little neglected at times even though there were only three tables. All in all, a stunning restaurant well worth a visit!

Stunning sunset views if you go there at the right time. The food was more expensive than other similar restaurants in the area but you're paying for the vibes. The grill chef was so kind and showed us our steak being cooked in the grill. I think it's worth it for the views. Food was solid but not mind blowing and our waiter, while very friendly, pushed us to order more than needed. I still would return for the sunset view.

Absolute must if you’re in Santa Teresa! Book a table for sunset to be sure to get a gorgeous view of the sun setting over the water. Our server Mary was super funny and friendly and gave us amazing service. In general a very friendly staff. The spicy shrimp appetizer was delicious and the flank steak was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth (steak smelled so good I forgot to take a photo). Excellent experience all around!

We went to this restaurant as a treat on our last day before leaving Costa rica. We got sat FIRST at 5:30 and had to get up to ask the waiter to please take our order at 6:15 because she left us alone. Then wondered why we were waiting over an hour after we placed the order, so again we asked. We saw that they forgot about our food and saw the chef begin to prepare our steaks. Finally we got our food but the chef genuinely doesn’t know the difference between well done, medium, and rare. We asked for rare and got well done. So we sent it back which took them an additional 35 minutes to cook that singular steak. Mind you this entire time waiting we never got any of our drinks or plates cleared from our table. All around would not recommend if you’re trying to have a great meal. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!

This place is AMAZING! The food is next level. The service is superb. The cocktails and views put it over the top. We had epic food and danced in the rain to the best music. The other guests were families with small kids, couples, and groups. Pura vida!

A gem in Santa Teresa. I went with the family and every single one of us LOVED our food. The ceviche, steak, fish of the day, and the burger all were outstanding. Dessert was tasty and drinks were good too! Our server (Josefa) was friendly and the bartender (Enzo) was kind to the children. We will definitely come back.

Wonderful, delicious with friendly service! Such a nice dinner in a lovely restaurant on the main road in the quiet area of Santa Teresa. A huge variety of cocktails and dinners. We started with Aperol Spritz (nice portion pours) and so refreshing. We order the Tuna Poke Bowl, so good, super fresh and the pineapple adds a delicious sweetness to the bowl. We also ordered the hamburger with fries. Nice portion and prepared deliciously. Next time we are going to try the fish tacos and meat dish that also sounds and looks amazing!

What a lovely little restaurant in Santa Teresa. Simple menu, amazing food! The lady who was serving is very pleasant to speak with. She made sure that we are okay all throughout our meal. We had all the starters with fish tacos. The tuna tartar waa fresh and very generous in portion. The mango ceviche was our least favourite because it was too creamy and very rich in flavour. Fish croquettes were tasty. The calamari was tender and had nice flavours. And the Tacos was really full of flavour! Amazing experience!

This place is more romantic than a Hugh Grant film! We had the restaurant to ourselves for the start and Josafa, the waitress got the candles out and put some romantic beats on and the night turned out amazing. The steak tasted perfect, so if you're a meat lover get this with the sweat potato mash. My fiancee got the white fish and it was perfectly cooked in a zesty sauce. They use really good ingredients and you can actually tell they care about the food prep. The staff are brilliant and the ambiance is warm and the music is good. What more could you need? Mojitos? Yes. Because they are amazing too. Go.here.

Amazing restaurant! The staff is very friendly. The drinks and food are delicious. We had the atum selado, and this dish was amazing! It was so good that we ordered it again. The atmosphere is cozy. Music was playing, and if you visit in the late afternoon, you can also enjoy a beautiful sunset. In the evening, candles were placed on the tables, creating a romantic vibe. We would definitely come back.

The staff at Rancho Itaúnas were absolutely lovely—friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. The location is incredible, especially if you’re looking to catch a breathtaking sunset. It’s the perfect spot to wind down the day with a drink in hand. The food, however, was just okay and felt overpriced for the quality and portions we received. Definitely something to keep in mind if you’re dining here. There was a fun fire show.

Had drinks here one night. They did make an error on the bill (happy hour margarita promo was not correctly applied on bill so we overpaid) but I didn't realize til later when I checked my bank account. Otherwise, the drinks were pretty good and they've got a nice spot by the beach in Santa Teresa. We enjoyed spending time there after sunset one evening and the staff were very friendly and kind.

After researching countless places without knowing the area, I hit the jackpot with Rancho Itauna. This beachfront gem exceeded all my expectations! The rooms were comfortable with good AC and daily cleaning (a real treat). Each morning started with deliciously fresh breakfast before heading straight to the beach just steps away. The Brazilian restaurant on-site was a highlight - incredible food and drinks with ocean views created perfect evening moments. Through their package, I took surf lessons with Palo, who amazingly had me standing and turning on waves by day two! What makes this place special is the atmosphere. The staff clearly loves being there, creating a wonderfully relaxed yet attentive vibe. Don't miss Tuesday nights with DJs, lights and fire dancers drawing people from all around. I've traveled extensively but Rancho Itauna has become one of my favorite places ever. I'm already planning my return next year - something I rarely do as I usually prefer exploring new destinations. If you're on the fence about booking, I can't recommend it highly enough!

Excellent service, friendly staff. Our meal was delicious and the location can't be beat. It was a prime spot for sunset. My partner who is not much of a dessert person, had the Brigadeiro (Brazilian chocolate ball) and he said it was amazing. There were a few items on the menu that could be made vegan and they all sounded delicious. I had the grilled avocado with a tomato and cumin sauce and it was very flavourful. We will definitely be back!

El patio is the place to get your food. We went here to get breakfast and it was good. From the breakfast bowls to the pancakes all the way to the breakfast burrito…. We enjoyed every bite. Every dish was made with care. Also, the food came fast and it was not a long wait. The sevice was also TOP. Friendly, kind and welcoming are some of the adjectives you can use to describe the service. Now to the atmosphere… yes, corner spots are a little bit buggy( but hey, we are in the jungle), but otherwise it was a great location to dine. Overall I’d say el patio was a great place to eat and affordable.

Came here every day of my stay in Santa Teresa, some days twice!! The space is extremely chill and perfect for coffee and a laptop work sesh. Everything I tried on the menu was delicious and the portions are generous. To top it off the service was consistently great, the staff are so kind. Do not look any further if you come to Santa T!!!

This is a top, world class restaurant and anything below 5 stars doesn't do it justice! The dining experience here was just superb. All of the dishes were simply amazing. The cocktails were nothing short of spectacular. The atmosphere is perfect and the restaurant is beautiful. Truly can't wait to get back to Santa Teresa and visit El Corazon again.

Great vibe and food in a lovely location. Vegetarian food that everyone can like. Wide range of dishes where the meat lovers won't miss anything. Nice vegetarian restaurant. Love the ambiente. Not too much creativity on the menu but the dishes I had was great! Loved the Flatbread and Baby Kale salad. May want the dressing on the side if you like a little less. You also can never go wrong with the Vegetarian Bao, which is so good and filling if you are hungry. Desserts were bomb too. Vegan chocolate cake was AMAZING and is done without sugar! That dish was from the future 🤩

Honestly I’ve tried a ton of vegetarian restaurants in California and NY and came to Santa Teresa saw this place and had to try it. Was absolutely AMAZING!! Some of the best dishes I’ve ever had. Standouts: • croquettes • deviled egg • beet dish • mushroom bao Can’t go wrong!

Stopped by to have a few late night drinks and had a lovely time. Sat at the bar by myself and felt at home. The bar manager and owner both made some legit drinks, it was also fun watching them as you can tell they know their craft. Didn’t have any food but want to come back a try a couple of things.

We visited this restaurant after reading all these amazing reviews, unfortunately I can only give 2 stars… the restaurant is not really beautiful, looks a bit untidy, staff (ladies at the bar) were not really friendly and the food was below average, nothing special. Also payment via credit card wasn’t possible and not clear mentioned. Sorry, but I cannot recommend that place.

Excellent restaurant! We dined there with 3 kids. The atmosphere and hospitality were great as were all the dishes we ordered. The restaurant has a small pool so children can relax in it and enjoy before and after the meal. The best Mediterranean food you can find outside the Middle East :) Lovely place. If you've in Santa Theresa want to eat there. We will definitely be back if we are in the area.

Amazing place with incredibly good food! The atmosphere is really nice and they have a nice taste of music :) if you are here (which you should definitely be soon) I can highly recommend the hummus plate with pita and falafel - stunning! The staff is also very nice and charming.

Always seeking proper coffee on my world travels, this place didn’t disappoint. If wanted to give constructive feedback the AC was way too cold. Freezing. But still went as just liked the vibe and the coffee. Was nice watching the pastry making in the background ad you can see into the kitchen. Nice baked goods.

Stayed in Santa Teresa for a month & this was by far our fav cafe. We both work remote and this spot was perfect for it: good music, best coffee (I loved the cold brew), croissants, cool atmosphere + AC, strong Wi-Fi, and also cool merch to look at. You can watch the pastry chef make things all morning. 100% stop by, well worth it 🙌

El Somos had one of the best flat whites I have ever had. The almond croissant top 5 of my life which I was quite surprised to get given many pastries in Costa Rica don’t stay the best for very long due to the humidity. It was crisp, flakey, and soft on the inside with a really nice filling. I visited for 3 weeks and I was here maybe 10+ times. Great spot to do a little bit of work in the cafe. Staff was all very kind too. I loved the vibe within the cafe where you can see the pastry chef making everything. I didn’t love the matcha.

I had an absolutely amazing stay at Banana Beach in Santa Teresa! The service was outstanding, with the staff going above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The location is ideal, right next to the beach and close to everything you need, yet still offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable, well-maintained, and have everything you could want for a perfect vacation. It truly felt like paradise, and I can’t recommend this place enough. We have stayed at many five stars hotels. We just completed 28 nights at Banana Beach and enjoyed our experience far more here. The “bungalow “felt like we were in an oasis. The huge ispool Is in the most beautiful setting. Every member of the staff is upbeat and friendly. Every request was quickly and cheerfully attended to. Did we enjoy our stay? We just reserved another 28 nights for 2026. We’ve traveled many places but Santa Teresa is the only place we have continued to return to every year, for 10 consecutive years, in large part to having a place like Banana Beach. They never fail. Actually, this year, the entire area had no power for about 12 hours. However, Banana Beach had a generator so we were one of the only hotels to continue to have air conditioning and electricity. We can recommend this hotel without any hesitation. Also, attached is a lovely restaurant on the beach with Fabulous food and a fun atmosphere. We recommend Banana Beach bungalows without hesitation

We had a great stay at Banana’s! The rooms are great and the location perfect next to the beach club. The staff was so helpful when we discovered the moment we arrived in la Fortuna (6 hour drive) we forget our passports, wallet and other documents in the safe. They managed the transport to the hotel in La Furtuna. Definitely highly recommend!!

5 Stars, because of 3 Products: 1. The Popsicles in the promotion (2 for 1500). Super delicious with many options & minimized packaging. With the promotion extremely cheap for Santa Teresa. 2. Postcards! Call me old fashioned, but I like to send postcards. This is one of the few places that sells them 3. Unpackaged beans and rice. Unfortunately we did not know this when we bought our stuff at megasuper. There we had the choice between too many or too few beans for our stay at the hostel, which was frustrating. Except of these the place is not the cheapest one, but we noticed that the prices vary here quite a lot in general. Even between the „regular markets“ there were differences like 3€ per watermelon. If you’re mobile and have a bit of time, I suggest to check this place out as well. Worst case you’ll only get a delicious popsicle 😉

Buyer Beware!! Over priced and out of touch "green" store. Items listed as "bulk" deliberately implies a bulk rate. They have 55 grams of hemp seeds for $22 USD in bulk. Dates for 5000 colones that's $10 USD for 8 oz of dates. Other store in the area with the exact same brand and weight charge $3500 colones. What a joke! Many over priced Items are not even organic. To the US folks their prices exceed that of WholeFood. Most Items are in fact available in surrounding grocery stores. The "organic produce is relative to you actually being in a remote Village "Santa Teresa. The food is generally organic from the local farms. This is a finca "farming" community.

This store deserves an award for choosing the best products and offering it to the shoppers in this area. The store has pro-organic, pro-bio approach and bio-hacking options for your daily diet and fitness alike. You can find pretty much everything you need to eat yourself healthy while staying in Santa Teresa! The only downside is that it's expensive, but you pay for the quality.

Great organic/ natural food store with many things that aren't easy to find in Costa Rica, like veganaise and mushrooms. They have a nice bulk spice section, the best Avocados I've found yet, super fresh corn tortillas, quality frozen chicken, lots of other great things. A bit pricey, but I expect it from a specialty store like this.

If you are looking for many of the health foods and organic produce we see in the United States, this is the place, period. They are amazing. Just remember that you are asking for products (gods) that are not indigenous to Costa Rica. We are thankful for GreenWorld. They work hard to keep the prices as reasonable as possible. Love them!!

Beautiful view, delicious food, excellent service, and surrounded by nature, Horizon is the most calming and relaxing place I've been to. The owners are the kindest. The yoga classes are spectacular. The food is organic, fresh, and delicious, prepared by the owners themselves with a lot of love. I saw many cool animals such as monkeys, iguanas, armadillos, pizotes, exotic birds, and a huge variety of butterflies during my stay, all within the hotel. It is 2 minutes walk to a beautiful beach, and is located in the center of Santa Teresa, walking distance to many cool spots. I would recommend this place to anyone coming to Santa Teresa.

I am giving this review one year after I was in this Yoga space. All the people in Costa Rica are so nice, but the lady at this place was incredibly rude. It was my friends birthday and we were trying to book a yoga class. We were treated so badly that it almost ruined my friend's bday. I tried to book a yoga class for 3 people, and I thought I paid 30euros. When I went in for the class, they told me I only booked for one so no1 else could go in. It's okay that mistakes happen, however the lady at the counter was so rude that it really impacted us. !!!!DO NOT GO HERE!!!! There are also other reviews saying the staff is not nice, maybe you should do a retrospective on your values.

This is by far the best yoga deck in Santa Teresa. It's beautiful and well-run—the mats are properlycleaned, the view is impeccable, the desk staff are friendly—but what really sets this deck apart are the teachers. They are super knowledgable and give great cues; each has their own style. Highly recommend coming here.

Went to Horizon for a sound bath and yin yoga class. The yoga space itself is amazing, however the teacher was terrible. She seemed like she didn’t want to be there and didn’t offer much guidance during the class. I have been to many sound baths and let me tell you, just because you figure out how to play a sound bowl, does not mean you should. The sounds she created were monotone, dissonant, and sounded like a jet taking off…not relaxing, no musical finesse. The vibes were not there, would not recommend.

Wonderful yoga classes. Book in advance on WhatsApp in high season! We loved visiting the cafe after, which has an amazing view. The açai bowl was our favourite in town and the shakshuka with yoghurt and tahini dips was top tier!

Omg what a beautiful place to stay! Everything was simply perfect - the beautiful tropical garden, the infinity pool with the views, the villa design, the welcoming staff and the overall facilities - I can't even get all the words to describe how impressive this place is. Santa Teresa is very busy and noisy but once you arrive at Hotel Horizon you are in an oasis of calmness and serenity. The pictures of the villa don't do it justice - it is so beautifully decorated, authentic, spacious and comfortable. All the little details are accounted for. It's our best stay in Costa Rica, and I do A LOT of research when I search for places to stay.

I love this little spot. I stopped in at 10am and ordered off the lunch menu. I got an incredible strawberry/passionfruit/mango smoothie as well as the veggie burrito w fries. Everything was super fresh, light, and healthy. The burrito was amazing and they had two insane sauces (I think a cilantro sauce and a mildly spicy mango sauce) that were so good I could have drank them out the bottle. I wish they sold the sauces to take home because I would buy them both. The fries were perfectly soft yet crispy. Really good service.

This was a random stop for us, it was raining crazy and we were looking for a nice restaurant to grab lunch. We went past the restaurant initially and decided to come back here. I am glad we did! The service was excellent and super friendly, we ordered Golden Milk, Hot Chocolate, Caribbean chicken, Chicken sandwich. The hot drinks were brought out to us within 2 minutes, I really appreciate that since we were cold from getting drenched and the drinks warmed us up :) The food was yummy and no complaints, very flavourful and good quantity. Very happy we stopped here and had a memorable lunch!

Good Munchies Latin Kitchen was a delightful stop! The beef tacos were delicious, with what tasted like homemade tortillas that made them even better. I also tried the Munchies smoothie and iced mocha coffee—both were incredibly refreshing and hit the spot. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience enjoyable. Definitely a place I’d visit again for great food and drinks!

This place is located near where we stayed in the area and I’m so glad, because it was the perfect tasty and convenient spot. The vegan arepa, breakfast and the smoothies were all 10/10. There is a cozy inside as well as outdoor seating. The service is amazing and the vibes are good!

Not only was the food at Munchies fresh, but it was full of flavor. The drinks were excellent, pictured is the Popey smoothie and hibiscus ginger refresher. We went back twice - trying the tuna bowl, the Tunupa salad, the gyro (gluten free!) and the Caribbean coconut chicken (not pictured, but our favorite!). The chicken was out of this world, highly recommend!

One of the highlights of our recent trip. You can talk about the view all day but the food was spectacular. Yes you need to have awd to get up the hill (as you do just about anywhere in CR) Lucho (chef and proprietor) and Juan our server were amazing. We came Friday for all you can eat pizza and had to come back the next night for grilled fish. Lucho asked what we wanted, described what he had then went to work. Then the feast was set in front of us and ate like kings. Thank you Lucho!!! a part of the trip we wont ever forget.
