We had a wonderful experience visiting the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) in Lucerne. It was a beautiful evening, and the entire setting felt almost magical. The iconic wooden bridge, with its charming roof and historic paintings, reflected perfectly in the calm waters of the Reuss River—making it one of the most picturesque spots we’ve seen in Switzerland. What made the experience even more special was the atmosphere around the bridge. As we walked through, the gentle lighting and the flower decorations along the bridge added to the charm. Right nearby, the Old Town was buzzing with life. The streets were lively with cafés, restaurants, and little shops, making it a joy to stroll through. The blend of history, culture, and energy gave the whole area a very warm and welcoming vibe. Walking across the bridge and then meandering through the cobblestone streets of Old Town felt like stepping into a postcard. The combination of medieval architecture, colorful buildings, and the vibrant evening atmosphere made the entire experience unforgettable. If you are in Lucerne, visiting Chapel Bridge is absolutely a must-do, especially in the evening when the city lights and reflections on the river create such a breathtaking scene. It’s not just a landmark—it’s a place that captures the heart and soul of Lucerne.

Iconic structure spanning the river Reuss in Lucerne, it's Europe's oldest covered wooden bridge. I was expecting a lot more interior paintings depicting Swiss history then there actually was. Very crowded.

Chapel Bridge lives up to the hype being the most iconic outdoor attraction in Lucerne. Pictures of the bridge from the river shore streets are more scenic than photos taken from the bridge itself. Given that fire of 1993 destroyed at least two thirds of the bridge, don’t expect too much from exposed paintings. Fortunately, Water Tower was spared and bridge was rebuilt and reopened in 8 months carefully reconstructed to preserve historic details.

Iconic landmark of Lucerne. Part of the bridge was burned down in the past and at certain points of the now rebuilt bridge, you can still see the black burnt marks on the wood pillars. Keep your eyes up also as there are some murals at the triangle top also.

It is a very nice, special place, always beautiful the flowers at the bridge. Mass tourism, a photogenic square, easily accessible from the train station and ship station.

Magnificent though-provoking monument to Swiss guards who died defending French king at the revolution times, emphasizing sacrifice by the people who fulfilled their professional duties to the end at the cost of their lives. It’s a small public park easily accessible by 10 mins walk from Lucerne lake shore. There are restrooms onsite, also expect the park to be crowded almost at any time of the day.

As a tourist attraction, the Lion Monument is relatively small in scale, yet it draws a large number of visitors. The sculpture of the dying lion is strikingly lifelike, full of emotion and quiet power. In front of the carving lies a small reflecting pool, where a few lonely fallen leaves float on the water, adding to the somber mood of the place. Overall, the visit takes about 5–10 minutes. No tickets required.

Beautiful historical landmark. Worthwhile understanding the history either by guided tour or by reading up in the internet to appreciate it more. The outer 'pig' sculpture is interesting by the unhappy master stone maison who was denied the extra payment he requested.

Visited the Lion Monument in Luzern and it really hits different when you see it in person. It’s quiet, calm, and has this emotional, respectful atmosphere to it. The carving is huge and so detailed, and the whole place feels very peaceful. It’s not something you rush through. You just kind of stand there for a bit and take it in. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in Luzern

Touching sculpture on the sacrifice of Swiss guards for the last French king - also this king was eventually executed. The place feels tranquil despite having a relatively large number of tourists. I have seen this monument on various social media, but did not expect it to be so central and near to other tourist attractions.

Absolutely amazing statue and storey of the fallen people. The Roman carving sits over 3m above the ground level, depicting and injured lion killed by a spear in his side-back. Quite moving emotionally the lion looks vulnerable & defeated, despite his pecking order in the jungle. We were told Switzerland was made up of Germans, Italians & French people, this country is the No. 1 on my list of most beautiful countries with 3 major cultural influences makes it well set out.

Shaded area with a calm pond and beautifully carved sculpture. There are historical and interpretive signs all around, plus a few benches. Additionally, we found the most technologically-advanced, free public restrooms we'd ever seen here - I seriously almost took a photo of the inside of it!

Very cool! There’s a lot to see and do, from museum to interactive journey through a big rock to an amazing little mirror maze! Something enjoyable for everyone, definitely! I would recommend choosing s day with good weather, you might be able to see the mountains from the tower they have!

Nice walk from the station (10 minutes). Intesting description of the geology of the area. It is outdoors but the mail area is covered. The labyrinth which is a mirror maze was the most popular part with the children. As there is only one entrance and exit safer to let them wonder. The room with information on chalets was interesting and kids enjoyed making and drawing chalets. The walk underground is just lit enough to keep it safe but dark enough to add sone mystery and make the light shows more effective. There is a cafe on the site with prices typical for the area. We are a impatient family and spent around 2 hours without a visit to the cafe.

It is more than expected. Cave is big experience. Specially Cosmo Phone which repeats your voice in its own special voice in just few seconds. This cave let you walk to go to top with good sight seeing from where you can come via lift also. There is Wc and drinks etc shop is also inside. Mirror maze is also very good. Ticket is 22 Chf and free with Swiss pass. It is closed in evening so be careful to be in time. Film show every 20 minutes is must watch for authentic information. It is adjacent to Lion Monument.

Nice place to visit. Be sure to bring your visitor/tourist discount card from the hotel to get a discount on admission. There is a really cool tree house in here that you must climb up to get the awesome view of the city.

The best garden experience with museum. Wonderful historical and informative

Nice place to understand glacier history and formation in Switzerland. The caves are fascinating with many practical models to understand glacier formation and movement. There is also an exciting mirror maze which is total fun for adults and kids. It also has a watch tower which you can climb and see a panoramic view of Lucerne city. Entry to Glacier Garden is free with Swiss Travel Pass.

Amazing museum! There is so much offered here. I went with my grandma and we both had a great time! Seeing inside of the house was super informative. The mirror maze/labyrinth was probably our favorite part! The views were also stunning!

A great moment for all the family. Beyond the classic themes, you can also enjoy an imax theatre and a planetarium (supplement tickets 🎟) Several restaurants and cafeteria are available on the site. Easy access by bus 🚌 or boat.

Wow one of the most interactive museums! Great experience for half a day. Great variety and teach perspective in different means of transport! We will be back to visit the planetarium too!

Great facilities to visit and explore the world of transportation in Switzerland: trains, boats, cars, planes and rockets. Fabulous option for children and adults. For quiet visits, avoid the weekends or the school vacation periods. I highly recommend the building devoted to boats, as it is highly maintained. However, we recently found out staff is sometimes not present on exhibitions and it is difficult to get support or assistance in all areas of the museum.

Wonderful place..so much to see! The museum is huge with indoor and outdoor areas! I loved the section on space travel but it's not very large in comparison some of the other parts. Being able to walk into an old plane was fun and a cube you could enter to feel the effects on gravity as it rotates. The Planetarium was a highlight with several shows a day but you have to pay for these separately as they are not included in the entrance to the museum..I paid for one 45 min show and it was worth it just to see the stars and planets on such a large screen above you..you really felt like you were travelling in space..but I guess it also depends on the show you choose and could get expensive if you want to see several shows there.

I don't think it was a bad museum, but compared to a lot of the other transport museums I'd visited I didn't enjoy this. Especially considering the price. I don't think it had enough to offer and you couldn't go inside almost all of the planes/trains. It also didn't have enough locker space. I'd say kids seem to really enjoy it though, and the space section was interesting, albeit small.

One of the best museums I have ever visited. Covers all areas of space, air, land and sea transportation plus energy sources and smart house eco systems. Many interactive games for kids to play, learn and stay focused.. Very helpful, polite and always available to support staff... A must visit place

Brilliant interactive day out 😁 husband loved it trains planes and automobils. Great day out for everyone!! A bit too warm inside though was expecting air-conditioning but nothing so did not stay as long as wanted to really. Lots to do there would be perfect on a bad weather day !

I'm a history girl and I really loved getting some insight into a topic I knew nothing about before. Nice setup and very well made, definitely worth checking out! I was completely alone up in the big panorama, it made the atmosphere feel even heavier!

The building has coffee, shops, movies theatre, but is especially well known for the historical panorama on the upper floor. Very popular at the end of the 19th century, it is often described as the ancestor of the movies theatre. Definitely worth the visit. Make sure to read excellent display to understand the overall context.

Expensive, but they really try to milk the history and cultural significance of this painting and battle. The small museum in the level before the painting is well-designed, and has additional articles in QR codes.

A super unique experience that has some art and some history. You take a journey up to the first floor, where you watch a short documentary recounting the reason why the panorama was created and how they built it. Upstairs is an immersive experience of the actual panorama. I would allow for about 20 minutes for the entire experience. Get the Lucerne Museum, Swiss Pass that complements nicely with the Picasso Museum in the Swiss transportation museum, unless you want to pay Fr.12 per person. There’s a café at the bottom, but it’s quite expensive, five francs for a water.

Bourbaki Panorama offers a fascinating glimpse into Swiss history through its impressive 360 degree artwork. It’s an interesting cultural stop and can be an optional addition to your Switzerland/Lucern itinerary if you enjoy history and art and have extra time.

Fantastic work of art encompassing human solidarity and care for others. If you come to Luzern you must see this. Really makes you think of the consequences of war from a different angle - the defeated army. The mixture of the panoramic painting, real 3D additions and other exhibits are amazing in their effect. Looking after this resource and making it available to different generations is such an important labour. Also my thanks in particular to Nadia at reception, such a welcoming and kind person, the ideal guardian and guide for such an important work. The building also houses a lot more services for the community and visitors such as a cafe and cinema.

Very informative, very well organized museum! Easy to reach by public transport (buses 6, 7 from the main train station) and then pretty walk 9 minutes. Great view of the lake. During our visit was a performance there of Wagner music.

Wonderful audio tour. Beautiful views and a very relaxing atmosphere. Only downside, it’s a little bit of a walk from the bus stop. Definitely worth the trip. No line and free entry the Swiss Rail Pass.

Beautiful and inspiring place, especially if you like art/music, Wagner's life and everything related to his work and biography. It’s also worth taking a walk around it, having a coffee at the kiosk outside and enjoying the view.

45 minutes sufficient to see this museum which was home to Richard Wagner, unless one stars listening to his music, for which facility exists. Serene atmosphere with a garden nearby. Visitors may note that there are 2 sign boards near the lane from main road pointing to Wagner Museum. One looks misleading, pointing to a different direction. If I am right Museum may align correctly the signboards

The Richard Wagner Museum in Lucerne can be reached from the main train station with several bus lines. From the bus stop it is a 10-minute walk to Wagner's house. You will be greeted in a friendly manner and your attention will be drawn to the audio guide. The museum itself consists of the ground floor and the first where you can see all the renovation work

We had a private tour of the Richard Wagner Museum in Lucerne, which was very personal and engaging. The only minor drawback was the absence of music, which would have enhanced the atmosphere even more.

We stumbled upon this church while walking around after dinner, and wow, what a vibe. The way it's lit up at night is just stunning, making its two huge spires look so dramatic against the sky. The best part is the massive staircase leading up to it. It’s the perfect spot to just sit down, hang out, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. We were lucky enough to be there when the church bells started ringing, and the sound echoing through the quiet night was just incredible. A total goosebumps moment! If you get the chance, definitely visit after dark. It’s a completely different and more magical experience than seeing it during the day.

Beautiful 17th century Church in the heart of Lucerne. They even had an adoration chapel that was open when we visited.

This place was really quiet, hardly any people around. There’s a paid parking lot right next to the church, and with EasyPark it was super easy to park. The churchyard felt very solemn — I’d never been to a traditional European church before, and only then did I realize people used to have cemeteries right beside them. The church itself is stunning, full of medieval grandeur. I didn’t go inside since I’m not too familiar with the customs, but even just seeing it from outside was impressive. For a church that’s been standing since the Middle Ages, it’s definitely worth a visit.

This Roman Catholic Church of St. Leodegar in the city of Lucerne, Switzerland was built and completed in 1639 (the basilica was burnt in 1633). It was one of the largest rich in art history churches of Germany in the late renaissance period.

One of the world's greatest private art collections. I was blown away! Largest Picasso collection in the world. Well over 100, and hundreds of other amazing pieces. Cezanne, Renoir, Monet, Seurat. Spectacular amd well worth your time and money.

What a great art museum. It’s a ten minute walk from the train station. Small lockers at no cost to store a backpack. She let me leave my larger carry-on in a corner of the lobby where she could keep an eye on it. The standard admission is 18 Swiss Francs.

A worthy collection and a very interesting history of the creation of the museum. In the museum you can watch a documentary about it. The ticket costs 20 francs. Unfortunately, there is no audio guide. There is a map with a QR code, but the text is written in very small print, it is inconvenient to read from a phone.

The collection was very inspiring and well worth a visit! The atmosphere was peaceful and the flow around the gallery was good. At the desk, they helped me with an English translation of the scripts.

An astonishing and magnificent collection of 20th century art amassed by art dealer Siegfried Rosengart and his daughter. They eventually made their own collection a gift to the city of Lucerne. Housed in a 1930s bank building, the collection is one of the finest private collections on display anywhere in Europe. Picasso and Klee are prominently featured, along with works of many other great 20th-century artists, including Chagall, Kandinsky and more. Art lovers, if you are in Lucerne, do not miss this collection.

Can't stop saying amazing about the art in this collection, never seen before by me photographs of Picasso. Small but impressive number of paintings nyu Chagall among others. The Picasso and Klee collections were just amazing and must see by any art enthusiast.

This is just one of the towers along the old city walls. Highly enjoyable and I loved going up all the towers even though there wasn’t much inside them. At the top of them you get some amazing views. It’s free too!

A must walk on the historical defense walls surrounding the old town. Possibility to visit several towers along the way. Display of ancient clocks system and machines. Great view.

Great view of the city! We only ended up climbing two towers but the view was amazing and the air was crisp and it was a very cool historical landmark. On the way up to the wall there were a couple of cows on the hill.

If you want a bird view to the entire town, climb up to the tower! It’s beautiful from up there. But mid you, the stairs up there can be quite steep so be prepared for that. There’s a quiet area at the back where you can relax and read a book. There’s a cute cat in the complex. See if you can spot him.

A must-do historical visit in Lucerne! Plan to spend around 2 hours if you want to climb multiple towers and walk along the ramparts. Each tower is different, so be prepared for lots of stairs!

From the lower parts of the town of Lucerne, I saw the high walls which intrigued me. We ventured up there and started to climb the many steps towards the top of the watchtower and Clocktower. This gives you one of the most pictures views of the town. There are a lot of steps, so it’s not for the faint of heart or people who might struggle with climbing.

Great free activity / visit. You can go up inside the fortress towers. A bit dusty inside but a unique experience if you can manage steep uneven stairs.

I know where Not to buy records. Everything is highly overpriced. They sell twice or more expensive than most of the record stores. Even the "used" records, doesn't go below 9 fr, and they have really common things that I saw many times in used stores for 1 or 2 francs. I just wonder which kind of clients they have. For sure people who doesn't know about music market at all. In the center of Luzern I have buyed on a few stores over twenty records in mint condition with prices from 0.50cnts to 4 fr. So, it's really ridiculous to see similar used records that overpriced.

Fantastic vinyl stop while traveling in Switzerland. We are avid collectors and always seek out vinyl when traveling. Old Town did not disappoint! Great selection of used and new records...we will be back!

Old Town Record Store is a really great shop with an excellent selection of vinyl. However, Adi’s customer service is absolutely first class. I purchased a couple records while traveling around the country for my children’s school holiday. When I returned home, I discovered that one of the records was damaged. I contacted Adi, who immediately offered to exchange the record or allow me to choose another record next time I came in. I explained that I lived in Geneva so he offered to send a new copy by post free of charge. It arrived yesterday. I wish I could give six stars because my experience with Adi and Old Town Record Store was incredible.

What a great find this store is on the busy streets of Lucerne! Stopped in Old Town Record Store while passing through Lucerne. Great variety of records and CDs in many different styles. Found some nice LPs to add to my collection. Will definitely stop in again next time I’m in Lucerne.

One of the best concert hall acoustics for orchestras I've heard, in a beautiful setting at the lakeside in Lucerne. We came for the classical music festival and heard several concerts showcasing the world's top orchestras, conductors and solo musicians. Not a cheap hobby but a wonderful, once in a lifetime experience. Seat accessibility was not a strong point, but I suppose one must blame the French architect! The acoustic designer was from the US...

Very large event/concert center right next to the main train station and on the water. Wonderful views, easy to get to, and many things happening there on a regular basis (music, shows, etc.)

The Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre (KKL) is an architectural masterpiece! 🏛️ The modern design by Jean Nouvel is stunning, and its location right by Lake Lucerne makes it even more special. The concert hall has world-class acoustics—perfect for music lovers and events. The views from the terrace are incredible, especially at sunset. A must-visit landmark in Lucerne

This is a great concert hall. Great acoustics. Seating is well laid out and allows for great views. Very nice.

Top notch venue. Saw the Pepe Lienhard Big Band, with numerous guest vocalists. Great acoustics, good seating all around. If you attend an event here, be sure to enjoy the views from the outdoor balcony on the top floor.

It's quite a big station. The ferry station and bus stops are just outside. The main attractions Chapel Bridge and Old Town, Cathedral are just few minutes walk away. The station has got a lot of facilities like, café, restaurants, shops, grocery and pharmacy. The basement is also huge with more facilities. The display screens give all the information regarding departures. One can reach anywhere in Switzerland from here. Zurich airport is just an hour away.

Great train station with almost all services . Everything is well maintained and clean. Trains are on time and SBB staff are very helpful and friendly. Ground floor with different services from food , groceries, different shops to meet our needs. Really different options for quick bite when you are on Rush....

Convenient shops, bakeries, a grocery store, and restaurants on the lower floor and upper floor along with an underground parking garage. Easy to navigate. There is a paid restroom(WC) on the lower floor that takes credit cards. There isn’t any free clean restroom in old Lucerne. We went to Coop every day for meals on the go and drinks.

A peace town to go, a bit busy at night but enjoyable.

Just a beautiful church inside and out definitely take time to go in and relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the church. There’s a unique contrast between the white black and gold that exists in the church that makes things pop.

A Catholic Church along the river Reuss, built in a beautiful baroque style. For its fine acoustics, it also serves as a concert venue. Definitely worth a stop.

Have been to several cathedrals (in different German cities) in the last few days and what makes this one look grander is the use of white and gold. It is also more crowded, even on a weekday.

Impressive church, the church of the Jesuits, which was built from 1666 to 1677. It represents the peak of the construction activity of the Jesuits in Lucerne.The Jesuit Church in Lucerne was the first large Baroque church in Switzerland. The shell was completed in 1669. The painter Domenico Torriani created the painting of the main altar. The church was renovated in the 1950s and more extensively in the 1970s. The most recent renovation was completed in January 2017. The church is important above all because of its rich furnishings.

Almost looks Russian orthodox but a Catholic Church in the Barouque style located by the river and Spruerbrucke bridge. Beautiful location right across from the water. Even has steps into the water and you can imagine worshippers getting off boats to go into the church. Beautiful white walls create a serene and peaceful worship space. Free to visit.

Interesting contemporary collection but very tiny overall. 30 minutes is enough to visit everything.

We decided to visit the museum because of the exhibition of Malgorzata, it was nice but not very impressive due to the size of the space. However, the set up of the experience (drawing) room was quite nice and fit to the concept of exhibition. Not so much child friendly. The lady from the reception was quite friendly, however, the whole experience with a young kid inside the museum was not too pleasant! The staff was interrupting the whole time, even though our little one was carrying her own chair and sitting away from the art pieces, and not even tried to touch once... The most annoying part was while we were searching for the numbers from the game they designed for the kids, the staff interrupted AGAIN for the kid touching the number sign from the game.

It's very small. You can visit it in 30 minutes. There's A nice cafe from which you can enjoy the city views.

Located right outside Luzern train station on the 4th floor, this was reserved as my last stop before heading back to Lausanne. I really wish I had more time to explore and that my phone wasn’t running out of battery so that I could snap more photos but this is definitely worth a trip down! And once more, with the Swiss Travel Pass, entry to this wonderful museum was free! The ladies at the counter were friendly and helpful and as informed by them, it was “Red” Day yesterday 20 June 2024, (I gathered it was because Switzerland was playing that night in the Euro Cup) the museum stayed open for an extra hour 7pm instead of 6pm. All in all, definitely worth a visit!

Kunstmuseum Luzern is a fantastic place that should absolutely be on everyone's must-see list when visiting Lucerne. Thoughtfully curated exhibitions, a beautiful, light-filled space, and art that truly resonates. A must-visit for anyone who loves culture and inspiration.

Loved this museum. The lady at the ticketing is just so adorable! I was in Lucerne for a day only, she guided me and gave me some tips of places to visit in Lucern, was so kind. Thank you again lovely lady! And the museum is amazing, loved the art exposed there. So rich and diverse.

An old castle overlooking the Luzern lake. You can take the bus from the city centre and walk 10 minutes to this place. The property is open every day and free to visit. On the day we visited, entry into the building was closed. But we spent quite some time around the property and its gardens. Calm and peaceful place.

Absolute must see and experience. It doesn’t get any better than this. It would be an outstanding location for a wedding or too renew your marriage values. FYI, I did Not see a lot of parking. And I did not see any public transportation. Other than that, perfect anytime.

Peaceful Escape with Stunning Views – Meggenhorn, Lucerne 🌄🏞️ I visited Meggenhorn last week and absolutely loved it! It’s such a peaceful spot just outside the city, with breathtaking views over Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains. The walk up is easy and scenic, passing through vineyards and green spaces. At the top, there’s the beautiful Meggenhorn Castle and a quiet park area where you can relax, enjoy a picnic, or just take in the view. The combination of lake, mountains, and nature is simply magical — I stayed much longer than I planned! It’s perfect if you want a calm escape from the busy town, and it’s great for families, couples, or solo travelers. Highly recommended if you're in Lucerne and want something a bit more local and quiet.

Beautiful free grounds and views, with few people. Took me 1.5 hours to walk from Lucerne, most of which is along a nice lakeside path, but also easy to reach by bus.

If you visit Lucerne it's of course a must see. It's a bridge built in 1365 and looks impressive regarding the length of about 200m. In my opinion not more than 8min worth of your time and a little over rated.

We stayed two nights here during the music festival in mid September and had the absolute best stay! We were upgraded to room 507 and it was an absolutely beautiful room with views of the river, lake and city. The staff was fantastic and the location was perfect - right in the heart of everything. We would not hesitate to stay here again, we loved it!

Hotel des Balances is a beautiful blend of history and modern comfort, right in the heart of Lucerne’s Old Town. The location is unbeatable — you can walk to the Chapel Bridge, Jesuit Church, and plenty of shops and restaurants within minutes. My room was stylish and very clean, with a wonderful view over the river. The historic facade and murals give the hotel real charm, while the interiors feel elegant and well cared for. The staff were warm, professional, and genuinely helpful — from check-in to recommendations around the city. Overall, a fantastic hotel if you want charm, comfort, and a prime location in Lucerne. Beautiful hotel! Excellent location. A little tricky to get to. We drove in ourselves. They do have valet parking. You do have to drive down cobblestone and past shops. It all looks like you shouldn't be driving on the street but you can. Very spacious rooms. Our room over looked the lake, very romantic. Easy walk for shopping and restaurants. There are some steps that up have to climb, just a couple but could hinder someone with mobility issues. Overall beautiful hotel.

We came to celebrate a belated birthday, and it was absolutely delightful. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. Though there was a short wait, the experience was well worth it. The staff were genuinely kind, attentive, and made the evening truly special.

Writing about the restaurant - We had an amazing experience at Restaurant Balances. We were celebrating our honeymoon and the staff went out of our way to make us feel extra special. They decorated our table, gave us an amazing seat on the river, and the service was amazing. The server we had was so friendly, so helpful, and she made the experience that much better. The food we were worried would be out of the norm of what we typically eat, but every item we had was delicious. For us coming from America and being used to American food, this food was outstanding. It was the best meal we’d had all trip. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful, romantic, or luxurious meal!!

Stayed there for one evening. The room was fantastic overlooking the river, the staff was great, and the location was superb. I enjoyed a glass of wine in the restaurant that is right on the river. Lovely hotel.

The museum itself is interesting but it's sad that on the permanent exhibits there are no translations to English or a way to do it.

This is the church of my grandfather. He was a minister there from the 40s to the mid 60s if I recall correctly. My brother, sister and myself were baptized there when I was about 10 years old. The church itself is a very simple and modest example. Walking along the Musegg Wall is a fantastic experience, and the Männliturm is a definite highlight. The climb up offers stunning perspectives over the city and lake. From this part of the wall, you get a particularly wonderful view of the fairytale-like Hotel Château Gütsch on the opposite hill—it's the perfect spot to capture a beautiful photo! I also had a lovely, unexpected encounter with the local wildlife. I spotted a cute little lizard near the stone wall. It got shy and slipped away as soon as it saw me, but a moment later, I saw it cautiously poking its head out from under some leaves to watch me back. It was a charming little moment that added to the magic of the visit. Highly recommend stopping here for the history, the incredible photo opportunities, and the delightful little moments you might find.

Excellent place, what a view! Totally worth of hiking till there and walk up to all the towers! There are several towers, we liked most a watch tower and the last tower that has the most astonishing views of Luzern as it situated at the corner and you can observe the lake, capell bridge, and water dam with another beautiful old bridge.

It is a nice hotel and walkable distance from Luzern train station. The room was nice with sufficent space. The facilities are good and hotel serves good continental breakfast. Sufficient options available. The staff is very nice and supportive. We stayed for 6 days and hence felt a bit monotonous as they don't change the breakfast options. We requested for some dinner plates and they said, they will charge 2 EUR per plate. They have a nice rooftop bar and the ambience is great. Overall good value for money.

Hotel Astoria Luzern Stayed on 6/14 This hotel is conveniently located, with quick access to the train station and the lakeside. The front desk staff were very helpful—when I requested a sewing kit, they provided it immediately. However, if you're staying on a weekend, you might want to think twice. The soundproofing is poor, and noises from the corridor and neighboring rooms easily come through. There are also several bars upstairs and outside the hotel. It remained noisy until around 2–3 a.m., and the windows didn’t block the sound effectively. I couldn’t get proper rest until around 4:00 a.m. Room cleanliness was average—I found a small cockroach in the room when checking out. The breakfast was decent, but since we booked as part of a group, we were seated away from the windows. One server insisted that I sit in a spot where I couldn't access the buffet. Even after I explained the issue, they insisted I stay at that inaccessible table. At the same time, many tables in another section remained empty, which made the arrangement hard to understand. Due to this experience, I regret to say that I wouldn’t choose to stay at this hotel again for future solo trips.

THIS Hotel is no sound proof. With wooden floor & unprotected legs of chairs, it is the noisiest hotel i have ever stayed. Worst than all, they start to clean around 7am !! With the crazy cleaner who makes sure than she can create maximum noise & the staff that were unable to do anything because this is the way the hotel is. If peace is important to you, never book this hotel.

Centrally located in Lucern this is a high end property. I enjoyed the decor, breakfast was sumptuous. The rooms were a bit tight. A support column next to window was too close to bed that caused us to bump in. Over all good hotel.

Natalie at the desk was pleasant and very helpful in planning our day of sightseeing. Alvin, a waiter in the dining area was funny and started our day off right away breakfast each morning. When we got our room they delivered our luggage to our room and missed 2 pieces. They lost 2 pieces of our luggage. For 30 minutes, I was in panic. If the guy was out or not a good person, I would lose my luggage for good and my whole trip would be ruined. The hotel delivery staff was careless and reckless. Not recommending this hotel for sure.

Stayed here the first 5 nights of our Switzerland vacation. The bar has been set very high! This is a great hotel! It is very close to the train station, but the rooms are quiet. The bed is very comfortable, the room has a hair dryer, facecloths, and shampoo and conditioner and body wash. We also had a fridge and Nespresso machine. The breakfast is delicious with tremendous choice and starts at 7 am. The staff are friendly and helpful. We also could walk everywhere very easily. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Exceptional Service Saved Our Stay! Booked a triple room via Chase points, but it wasn't in the hotel's system at check-in. Instead of hassle, the front desk staff and manager immediately provided us with two rooms to ensure our family's comfort while they sorted things out with Chase. Visited here on 5 April 2025 specially to see the actual Redbull Strato jump capsule and spacesuit worn by Felix who broke several world records in 2012. There are only 2 original space-jump capsules in existence today. One of them is permanently on display here in the hanger and the other one is likely in the USA. Lots of people queuing up here to drive the large "Ultimus Prime" truck =P I was here for only 2 hours and could barely see 50% of the exhibits. I recommend spending at least 6 hours here.

Well done with every display, planetarium was awesome, watched Serenghetti film in theatre, chocolate samples from tour were yummy. Great place to spend on a rainy day.

The design of this adventures take you in to the world of Chocolate productions. It’s a fun and relax way to explore the world of chocolate. You do learn a little bit about it. But if you come with kids, all it left would be desire to eat chocolate. Not sure it’s best for kids under 12.

It’s a thematic experience since it’s in the museum of transport. But, in my opinion, it wasn’t very interesting. The experience is resumed on watching 9 videos of 90 seconds that tell the story of chocolate and Lindt. You’ll get a bombom in the middle of the experience and one in the end. You’ll receive a gift card for 4 bombons that you’ll get at the store.

Although it is pretty good, the assistance for non-German speaking is very unexistent. At the very end, when someone gave us some card, we were asked if we have translators.
